Great teacher, keeps his material interesting to learn and doesn't loose energy throughout the term.

I have never had a teacher with as much desire for his students to succeed as Prof. Allen. I would recommend him to anyone taking any of his courses.

Derek is the hottest teacher at Sinclair. He is VERY funny, charming, and charismatic. He is very helpful, and loves what he does. I have never seen that much enthusiasim in someone at 8:00 in the morning.

He is the greatest teacher. I never thought about going into culinary but after taking his class I've found quite an interest in managing/starting a restaurant. He's a great teacher really funny!!! Also he likes to play games with your head so if u watch him grade ur test he'll act like you got the all wrong. Also u play game shows to review! FUN!

He is a great teacher i hated to see the course end because that is how much i enjoyed his class. He communicates well with all his students. And he is nice looking for an older man.

Amazing teacher, I've had him for three classes now, and he is a consistantly great professor in all of them. In his MAN 105 Class, he allows students to work together on most tests. Always very interesting and funny. Just make sure to do your work and you'll be fine. However, he VERY RARELY ACCEPTS LATE WORK!

Professor Derek Allen is a great educator! He is very clear in his method of teaching, helpful and kind. There is nothing a student can ask for, he is highly commendable! Take his class.

Awesome professor

Mr. Allen is my favorite professor ever. I was entertained and learned a lot at the same time. He gives clear directions and provides a lot of fun in-class activities. I knew when all of my assignments were due on the first day of class, which I thought was great. He's also gives lots of reviews prior to exams.

Prof. Allen is a really good teacher. I did not want to take this class but he made it very interesting and fun. I would def. take him for this class or any other class because he explains things very well.

Professor Allen was extremely passionate about teaching and about us learning the material. Take him for every class. Funny, helpful, has wisdom for class material and everyday life, organized, great mentor and teacher, and extremely HOT!!!!! I would take this class over without a credit!

i had dr.a;;en for two classes and bith clesses were interesting and he also had basically an open door policy. ask him a question and either he'll have an answer or he will go find you the correct one. Very knowledgable, he knows his stuff so well that im convinced.

I would take his class just to look at hime. He is absolutely gorgeous! But also a great teacher. I had him for independent study and he worked really well with me in getting my stuff together! I would highly recommend this professor!

I LOVE THIS PROFESSOR'S CLASS! I have taken his class MAN 105 & ENT 105 from Allen & I've done great in his class. He's a tough teacher & demands good work, but he is always willing to help. HIGHLY recommend his class.

He keeps the energy high and makes the learning very fun. He will tell you upfront what you need to know and do to get your good grade. You will not fall asleep in his class.

He was a good teacher. The subject matter for his class was pretty hardcore because there was a lot of material on each test. Mr. Allen did his best to have fun and be a great professor. Don't use a cell phone in his class, and come to learn/not argue. Great personality overall, and willing to help if you ask, but not whine. He is no nonsense!

Professor Allen is an AMAZING teacher and he is by far the best teacher I've had he has so much energy and love for knowledge its hard to describe. He might be tough but he is fair and I guarantee you will learn something from his class! He teaches to every learning style which is something I've never seen a teacher accomplish before.

MAN 105 Great professor! The first two classes he comes off as very strict and "Scary". Then once the "Ice is Broken", I can honestly say he is one of thee best teachers. He will help you no matter what!

At first I was worried, just because his teaching style was different than most. Gotta say he was a great teacher. I will propbly always remember what he taught. Easy to listen to, and not boaring in the least. Great teacher. He plays games in class sometimes to help you remember, I wasnt to happy about those at first, but in the end glad he did it

Wasn't sure I was going to make it, he is STRICT and expects for his students what you should expect for yourself, to be on time, do your best, and respect. Might be tough, but he's fair. Great teacher, information taught in a way it will stay with you. He goes the extra mile!

Professor Allen was excellent. I took this class on-line and it was almost like being in the classroom. He has set-up the on-line course with videos, games, music, and always greeting us as if we were in the classroom. The information presented was current and thought provoking. He responded very timely and was always helpful.

Best teacher I have ever had. If i could, I would have him for every single class I take. You have to work for your grade, but as long as you are there to learn, you will. He is so reasonable, and so gosh darn funny! every class is so entertaining, you forget you are at school. He GENUINELY cares about his students and makes that very clear. A+++++

Have had many classes with Professor Allen over the past few years, he is a great teacher. He makes certain that his class is not only entertaining but that you get your learn too, he challenges you to "know your stuff" and study or it will reflect in your grade. So I definitely would recommend him because you learn your field and have fun.

Professor Allen is easily one of the most forward thinking and one of my favorite instructors at Sinclair. If you have the opportunity to take one of his classses, take it. His lectures are genuine, he's not just spewing whatever he's supposed to say. He wants you to succeed not only in his class but in life as well.

Best Professor I've ever had. I took HMT 1107 Sanitation and Safety on-line with him. He made the on-line course so informative and enjoyable I had to take a class with him in person and so glad I did. He challenged me to want to do my best and to explore the culinary field. I have a plan and feel confident because of his encouragemement.

Derek is a very personal professor. Chances are if you are having trouble in his class, it's simply because you aren't showing up or doing the work. I've never seen a professor who goes so far out of his way for his students. I would defenately reccomend this professor

Took online class and it was awesome. He used a radio DJ format. It was entertaining as well as helpful learning.

Professor Allen cares about his students. I took the hardest class in the HMT program and passed with a B and I can't do math. He helped us and helped us. He had extra office hours just for us. I still can't believe I passed with a B, but I did go to every extra session he held. I was on it. Thank you Professor Allen

This class was hard I ain't gonna lie, but he helps you. Thank you Jesus. Go to the extra sessions when he has them.

Take this guy for Intro to Hospitality. Be there every day and you learn and earn an good grade.

Make Sure you read chapter 3 and chapter 6. Tough Chapters, but overall he a good teacher. The class was hard though.

One of the best professors I think I will ever have! Truly a caring person and wants you to succeed. He makes class fun and he's always dressed to impress! He made my 8am A LOT easier and made me want to come to class! I HIGHLY suggest taking any of his classes! I had this class for half a semester so the workload was a lot, but the work was easy.

Mr. Allen is the reason I am still in school! He is very inspiring and the only professor so far that has been able to remember my name, pronounce every word in the textbooks and lectures as well as made the class fun. You can tell he cares instead of most teachers who just show up and clock in. He demands accountability. He's the BEST!!!!

Derek and I originally got off to a rough start while COVID was prominent and one of his online courses wasn't great. But an in-person class with this guy was surprisingly very solid so I recommend that. I was impressed how much more professional he was and he helped us digest concepts pretty well I otherwise would've spent a week figuring out

Professor Allen is engaging and genuinely cares about student success. The material can be challenging, but he breaks it down well. Unstuck study was a game-changer for exam prep.
