Lectures are long...once a week classes with this guy drag but twice a week would be much better. Very informative in all areas of art and full of interesting facts.

Covers a wide variety of subjects. Interesting and informative class, will take more with this prof.

Very good teacher... he's easy but you still learn something from the material. Probably the most interesting class I've taken at pbcc.

Extensive knowledge in the subject and explains clearly. I don't see how he could have made the class any less difficult. I would definately recommend him.

He is awesome. He is not funny, but he does know his material. The book is needed for the tets cause everything is in the book. He gave written essay, but easy. He makes taking art fun and enjoyable. However you will learn a lot. Don't over do it and you will be fine. I got an A and I am looking for other art class.

Highly effective, fun, unbelievably helpful and knowledgeable about everything in the Arts. He is also very talented himself! My natural abilities blossomed in his class as a result of his clear, concise and introspective guidance and personalized instruction. I wish he taught at FAU!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This instructor has a very good teaching style. He is extremely well read in the field and is the most informative and intelligent teacher I've had. I learned a lot in this class. The curriculum itself was not overbearing, or unnecessarily difficult. It made sense and thought very well.

He was a great teacher. If anyone gets less than an A in this class i dont know what to say gives plenty of chances and grades everything fair did i mention he gives very little work only two test which one was open book

i withdrew from the class for personal reasons but Mr. Derek's class is overall okay. He gives you the information in a way that wont put you to sleep, while making it interesting ebough for you to commit to memory. I don't doubt that if I'd stayed in the class my skills would be more developed by now. (GREAT FOR PORTFOLIO BUILDING)

Knows what he is talking about, not a real boring class, can be interesting. I didn't have any test not even final - the hw assignment was our final (he didnt tell us)- so show effort in the assignments and u should get an A. Take if u want to build up ur academic portfolio.

Color theory: VERY interesting, mad-scientist teaching style. Be warned, relative to assignments, he is a very tough critic -borderline brutal. I never worked so hard, but I got a lot out of this course. Very valuable course

He was an awesome professor. kind of in your face. gives good critiques. really knows what he's talking about. he was just a really good professor. if you have a hard time paying attention, with him you will pay attention. I know i'm gonna take him again for another class.

Love love love! Your work will be critiqued! Severly and he can read through filters so don't even try lol I feel I am building what I need to be the best in my field. I wish he teached every graphic course so I could take him forever. I spoke to him after classes on how to get in the field and he answer my ?'s before I could ask them. :)

Class was easy, all you have to do is draw every class and just do all the assignments. East A if you do all the work. The only thing i didnt like is i didnt like was when he told me he didnt like how i drew because it didnt look like everyone elses -___-

Great professor! Knows his stuff and also works in the field - offers really helpful advice for anyone trying to get into this line of work! Just ask. Critiques are sometimes harsh, but really prepares you and helps improve your work. Can be easy if you don't care about class, just do assignements and follow directions and you will do good

This professor is COOL! I haven't taken his class in a while, but I remember how awesome he was. Take color theory with him! He really sets the foundation for artists when studying advanced color theory. If you really love art, you'll love the fact they do group critiques which are fun. He pretends to be serious but he's actually really funny.

By FAR my favorite teacher. He has extensive knowledge of almost all things professional, political, and technical with respect to the world of art. He thoroughly explains all subject matter in a way that anyone can understand. Provides MANY examples. Eager to teach, help, praise, and correct. Zero tolerance for lack of respect or effort.

Long lectures but totally interesting. I didn't expect this. He could make federal taxation interesting! Do the work and attend for an easy A. I wish he taught the other GRA classes. I also wish I could take a class from him.

I wish he taught more classes. Interesting lectures, you won't fall asleep! Show up, do the work, easy A and you'll learn how to improve on your artwork. Awesome critics, not degrading or brutal only good constructive input.

I really liked this class! I'm not interested in graphic design too much, which this class is more aimed toward, but the lectures and the critiques were really interesting, and he really knows what he's talking about. Plus we weren't required to use the computer (we could have if we wanted to) for our projects, they were all by hand. Great class!

He definitely enjoys the field, and it shows in his lectures. Great topics, covers so much ground, makes you think in ways you didn't before. His critiques are invaluable. He truly cares about the success of each student.

I had the pleasure of taking this professor this summer for an express class and my only regret is not taking him for other graphic design classes! His lectures are always interesting, you won't get tired listening to him like many other courses. You can still email him after you've taken him to help you with portfolio work. He's just awesome!

What I liked about Professor Anstis is that he was honest about our work without being direct towards any of us, and that he would tell us how we were doing if we simply asked him. For extra praise, not only did he let us redo assignments or do an extra credit work but he graded simply on proper participation. Would recommend to others.

This class is very informative and fairly easy. You actually learn about color and the professor is very open and makes himself available to help with portfolio and any other art related advice or guidance you might need to get you on a good path. Projects were a little challenging at times but worth it. I would definetly take his class again.

He is an amazing professor who really wants to help you as a designer. He knows the industry very well and will help you out tremendously to see how to reach your goals. His knowledge and explanation of concepts strongly stimulate your mind. I highly recommend him.

This man, what can I say? Here's the best professor I've ever had. The way he teaches and treats you are very rare to find in how good this man is. He will prepare you and make sure you are left with all you need as a designer, and if you happen to have doubts, he will go out of his way to help you. Pick him and he'll change your life.

I took his Color Design course Spring '16 and I was very impressed with his untraditional teaching format. He will push and challenge you to create your best work while offering feedback based on real life experiences. Don't listen to those who say otherwise, if you can't take criticism then you're in the wrong field.

Professor Antis is a very fair and good teacher. His teaching style is not traditional as in he doesn't follow the book, but he teaches from real world examples. He pushes you to try new mediums and to go outside of your comfort zone but is very fair and helpful. I highly recommend you take him.

He is so caring, he goes above and beyond to teach everyone things that really matter, and he'll always be available whenever you need him for something. He has been one of the greatest professor I've ever had. He really knows what he is teaching, and makes all the projects fun to work on. You don't ever have to worry about busy work. Thanks prof!

The assignments are weekly and are very connected to lectures. He provides great feed back on work done and very willing to help you understand the concepts completely. This class has really opened my eyes to the world around me and looking at art in a different light.

Derek is a great professor. I've taken his design fundamentals, and color design classes. He is very knowledgeable on what he teaches and his lectures are very informative. There is a critique at the beginning of every class where he gives useful feedback. I would have him as a professor for a third time if a class was available.

Very helpful, will help you choose the right colleges and scholarships for your major if you plan to transfer. Gives very good constructive/formal criticism, believes feedback is one of the ways you will truly learn and develop as a designer/artist. Doesn't assign book readings, just lectures.

Derek is a great, hilarious guy who REALLY cares about your work. So long as you do your work, he'll do his best to give you a great formal critique. He also works hard to inform you in what you want to do in the future, and what schools to look for. Would recommend 100%

I had a lot of fun in this class. Professor Anstis can be unorthodox at times but that's what makes the class more interesting. His lectures were very informative and I learned way more than I thought about color design. Critiques were also very helpful. I would highly recommend anyone to take his class.

Hes a really a great teacher, while this class wasnt a big class. He always recommends you try to make portfolio worthy pieces and hes also very informative. Helped me more in this class than any other past teachers. This was by far an easy class. He makes you comfortable and engages with you very well. I highly recommend him.

I would have to say since I have been going to palm beach state college, this has to be one of the best professors that I have taken , he cares about his students and gives good advice on the work we turn in. I would love to see if teaches another class that I need to graduate and if so I will surly take his class.

Professor Derek is part of those professors that seems like he's had experience in the type of artwork and techniques he has seen from other students or people out there who have experimented, that he gives great feedback in what materials to use. He is also aware of recommendations as far as what would work and what wouldn't work for a project.

The professor is caring, strict and critiques are huge in this class. You have to stay engaged, participation is a must. He stays after class and works with you one on one to help you succeed. He forces you to think, he pushes you to critique and to think like an artist. Participation is a must. He is unorthodox but fun. Dark sense of humor.

Even with COVID, I have to say this class improved even more! Critiques and Attendance is a must! Go into this class ready to learn history behind the art. He is straight forward and uses the fundamentals of art and graphic design to guide you. Very helpful. He guides you to succeed. Be ready to think outside of the box.

Professor Anstis' Design class was the most fun class I've ever taken. His class is really well-structured, we have critiques on our projects from the previous class, and then a lecture for the next project. The critiques are really helpful, and the lectures are fun. We had awesome discussions and he's really funny. The projects are so much fun.

He really is great at what he does and has helped me tons with my portfolio and understanding applications for university. Just please be respectful towards others' work, he wants to set you up for the professional world and if you're on your phone or just plain disrespectful, don't expect to succeed. Loved his class :)
