Great teacher! Makes the course interesting and pass quickly even fo a 3 hour night class. One essay a week, class grading system. Not really hard and good if you really want to improve, too.

I enjoyed taking his last as a freshman. It made me not mind taking a 3 hour night course once a week. He's inputs on your essays are extremely helpful, especially if your looking to improve on your writing skills. He will always stay after class to help with your papers and does not usually keep you all 3 hours.

Prof currin is not your average englsih teacher he makes you think out of the box. You have group discussions in call and most of the writing assignments ae only 600 words

At first he can come off as kind of intimidating, but once you spend more class time with him, he's a great teacher who is going to definitely going to help you improve. His classes are very laid back and he gets everyone involved!

During the begining of the class, I thought Currin's class would be super boring and a drag because its a three hour class. As class continued I actually started to enjoy the class.

Professor Currin is a great guy. He lets us off early sometimes and even gives us a break to buy food. His class challenges you to write a nice paper. He will read your paper aloud and tell you your mistakes, and give it to you for re-write. After the class you can ask him for help and he will go his way to help you out.I recommend him with honor.

Currin requires his students to produce about one polished paper per week. Each week the class will discuss their papers from the previous period. After that, students will have another week to make corrections outside of class. There is no reason anyone should make less than a C in this class, because of the amount of time you have to do the work.

Professor Currin is an easy going guy. He knows what he is doing, even though it doesn't always seem like it. A paper per week and a final in the end, pretty easy.. but earning the A is not as easy. His definition of A is perfection, not too hard if you pay attention to him though.

Mr. Currin is a AWESOME. If you do not sign up for his course, you're making a mistake. I personally have not had a better teacher. His class goes by fast ( which says a lot about a 3 hour class). Did I mention that he was a stand up comedian? Mr. Currin is honestly the funniest professor at Campbell. He is my favorite professor at Campbell.

Not only does he keep you interested but he also listens to everyone's opinion (which I really like). His class IS interactive so BE READY TO TALK! It's really fun though. MR. Currin is a great teacher! His Intro to Literature class is mostly discussion with a few essays. He is very easy to talk to in class, he is helpful and will answer all of your questions. He lets his students call him and ask questions about papers. I felt completely comfortable calling him and asking for help on my last paper. Great Teacher!!

He's interesting and cares about what he is teaching. The class happens 2 nights a week so if you know you will miss yours you can text him then show up at the other to make it up! Class is mostly discussion with a few writing assignments. Overall great professor and highly recommended

We had maybe 2 essays. It's discussion based so try not to miss a class and make sure you speak. If you're shy about having an opinion don't take this class.

The professor is very honest and direct. For example, he wants to make sure that each student excels within Academic Writing. Also, the course may require a lot of hard work, but I have improved within a few weeks.

I would recommend Mr. Currin for all English 102 students. He conducts class through discussions and open-ended questions in order to improve your literary comprehension. Class is light-hearted and filled with laughs. Participating in discussions is key to success. Make sure that you are willing to verbalize your thoughts before signing up.

I'm not a big fan of writing papers and English in general, but I have grown to look forward to this class. This class is mainly discussion based but Mr. Currin fills our discussions with humor as we learn. Be prepared to think at a higher level but know he is very open to helping and seeing that his students do well in his class.

When I was not pleased with my grade, Mr. Currin was willing to speak outside of class about my papers. He was very easy to get in touch with and provided me with a plethora of advice to improve my papers. I felt encouraged about my ability to write after our conversation. He will accept papers and rewrites up until the last day of class.

Mr. Currin has been a great professor. On the first day of class he asked us how involved we were in Literature. The question seemed odd, but throughout his class I have enjoyed the discussion based classes and learning how to appreciate Literature more. This class makes you think, but it was a lot of fun. Mr. Currin is a great teacher. He does expect a lot out of you but he rewards hard work. If you make the effort to meet with him outside of class he is very helpful. He will sit down with you one on one and explain how you could do it better; he will ever rewrite a paragraph for you. He is a very smart man you just have to try your hardest.

He will make you a much better writer. He doesn't just give out A's to people who think they deserve them. You MUST WORK FOR IT! At the beginning of the semester I was writing in the high D low C. It is not midterm and I am writing high B and low A. If that's how much I have grown in just the first 9 weeks imagine how much it will be in the end.

Dr. Currin is very helpful in the sense that he is available for help upon your request. You will find yourself working extremely hard in order to achieve an A, but in the end if you receive one, it will feel very rewarding. You need to make sure that you pay attention in class and become a good listener because there are a lot of lectures. Listen to the criticism and do not take it personally.

I would recommend this professor because he has a different type of teaching method, it is called socratic teaching. I liked his class because it is majority discussion based, and one interacts not just with the professor but with the entire class. If you take his class remember to Speak Loudly!

Class discussions are a major part of your grade, but he always makes them fun and interesting. I would take another class with him.

Dr. Currin's English classes are very much discussion based. Dr. Currin is very flexible and easy to work with. He won't give you much homework or many tests because participation is key. However, he will give you essays to write but it always willing to help in or outside the class to better your writing skills.

Bit of an unorthodox style of teaching. Don't expect to rack up a bunch of quiz or class assignment grades to boost your overall grade in the class. Only about 4-5 papers but his focal point is on your transition as a writer. Almost the entire make up of your final grade comes from the final 5 page paper. Have him edit all of your work. MAKE EFFORT

Most of class is just discussion. He's very nice and very funny. He really wants you to get involved and state your opinion during class convos(which are always interesting or bizarre funny topics) You don't take any quizzes or tests. About 4-5 papers. He grades on improvement, meet with him after class to discuss ur paper, edit it & you'll do fine

Mr. Currin's first few classes are intimidating to students coming straight from high school english courses. However, it is highly recommend to stick with his class for the semester because improvements in writing will be made as well as being able to express personal opinions. He is also more than willing to work with each student individually.

He allows you to meet him at his house or he will meet you at Creek Coffee. He is willing to help you improve your grade, as long as you put forth the effort. He is really funny and his classes are never the full 3 hours. I am taking his class again next semester.

Dr. Currin is very willing to help his students. Any time he assigns a paper, he always lets everyone in the class know that they can call, email him, and meet him somewhere on or off campus to help. He makes you think outside of the box and his lectures get very interesting. I really liked his class and would take another class with him.

Professor Currin is a no bs professor who can be very helpful. He is not a teacher who will write all over your papers, he will tell you what he likes and doesn't about your papers. He is a tough grader so take advantage of the opportunities given outside of class for him to review your papers.

While most English teachers you've before had assigned reading and then had reading test/quizzes or papers asking you to analyze them, he promotes class discussions. He requires participation, and yes, his class may be harder than some, but while you may not get an A in his class, you will learn a lot if you tough it out and take it seriously.

He gets you highly involved in the course. At first you are going to think he is going to be a hard and mean. However you grow to love him and even wanting to take him again. He has been very helpful thus far and knows how to teach!

So far this semester he has been such a great professor. He's there to listen when you need to talk and is open to helping you better your grade/ papers if you just ask. We have great lecture talks that really hit home and put things into perspective. I would take him again for sure, it's nice to know that a professor cares and is willing to help.

Mr. Currin is a really different professor than what you're used to. He's very discussion based and your grade comes from 3 papers and your participation in the class. There is a project where you have to ask questions to the class on a poem you choose for yourself. It's a pretty fun class because he's hilarious but you have to work for your grade.

This isn't your typical English class. Mr. Currin's class is driven with the focus of growing with each other to become better writers, thinkers, and people. DO NOT take his class if you expect to write a bunch of fluffy BS papers and get an A. He is more than willing to help you and talk through/co-edit papers on google docs. Give your best effort

He is a tough grader, but if you make the effort to go see him you will make a better grade on your papers. His class is very discussion based. I was very nervous to talk in front of a class and was worried that I would stutter. But I went and talked to him personally and he helped me overcome that fear. I highly recommend taking his class!

I got so much more than I expected out of my English 102 class. Professor Currin led awesome discussions and let the students take discussions as far as we wanted to go. You have to talk in this class! Don't be scared. He won't tell you that you're wrong, just redirect the conversation. He's totally his own person, not a conformist and hilarious.

Dr. Currin is a GREAT professor! He really cares about the students in his class. Although you write several papers, they're never very long. Also, he will offer you feedback and you can re-write them as many times as you'd like as long as it was turned in on time. If you show him effort and improvement, you're bound to get an A! Mr. Curren is great! He has a very open mind & doesn't hold everyone to the same standard like other professors do. Some people need more time to learn & understand things than others & he acknowledges that! One thing he is big on is improvement, your only competition is you. And I love it that way!

So far I've been in professor Currin's class for three weeks, and it's going great. It is a 2 hour and 50 minute class which could be a major bore, but he keeps it fun and interesting! He even let us take a break for Starbucks! He gives excellent feedback on papers and the opportunity to improve papers for a better grade.

Mr. Currin has a unique teaching style. He doesn't hand out grades, your grade is based on how much you improve throughout the course. So, usually, a paper turned in that has been revised 5 times will receive a better grade than a paper handed in with no revisions. So be prepared for that. He is so passionate about writing and will always help you

Dr. Currin is a great professor for those that aren't good at writing. He allows you to meet with him outside of class to go over papers (this will also help your grade). He really only grades you on how you participate, your effort and how your essays have improved. He always let my class out early and he gave us time to get Starbucks.

His class is incredibly eye-opening. Professor Currin breaks a part stories and poems like I have never experienced. His questions definitely make you think, but I did not enjoyed poetry until I took his class. How he analyzes poems in a way that is both engaging and thought-provoking. Derek Currin,I would say, is the best English professor here at Campbell. The conversations that we are able to share and the level of respect that everyone receives while being in his class is incredible. As a foreign student, I felt really comfortable. He helped me a lot both in and out class period. He is not the classic professor, but I like it this way more. I can say I really learned things during the semester I took him. I would take him again.

Mr. Currin is by far the best English teacher that I have EVER had. He individualizes each assignment and personal growth is achieved by each student.

This professor teaches by having in depth class discussions and getting everyone involved. I actually enjoy class because it is a judge free zone, and we get into deep discussions to learn how to argue on paper. We write many papers and then talk about how we would grade them and what we did right and wrong. This class has taught me how to write.

I had a heart attack in Mr. Currin's class for the first few weeks because it was very interactive and required a lot of communication. Professor Currin gives good feedback on your paper's. There isn't too many papers in his 102 class but you have to work for your grade. Most of your grade comes from class discussions so, if you're not talkative or if you're shy he makes you come out of your shell. There's not too many notes in unless you're taking them from discussion.

One of the most beneficial classes I have taken! He changes your whole view on literature and poetry and always accepts your opinion and feedback. From English 101 to English 102 with Currin, the only major difference is within the content and there are only a few papers to be written in 102. As a fairly quiet person, I was intimidated the first few weeks, but I now, I feel as if I am a much better writer. It is critical to participate in discussion and interact, but it is very easy to do so!

Professor Currin's English class was completely different than any english class that i had prior. He is very accommodating and will give you line by line feedback on any assignment he gives you (in person). You must speak up and participate in his class to get an A. Get with him to go over prior assignments and participate and you will do well.

Mr. Currin's class was one of my favorites yet. Having been homeschooled before college, I felt right at home in this class with its small size (15 students). The class is heavily discussion based, so be ready to talk a lot :) this class is an amazing opportunity to develop and defend your beliefs/opinions openly in the context of the discussions.

Professor Currin is absolutely amazing. I suggest taking his class if you want to know the proper way to write a paper. He does not teach just to give you a grade, he really cares. He has a teaching style that is organic, original and not rehearsed. He does not give away grades, you must work for them. He actually teaches you and is understandable.

Currin is the BEST English professor I've had. Participation is KEY. He will help as much as possible but you have to work for your grade for sure. He's open to conversation outside of class and I promise you can't find a lecture like his anywhere else. Worth it!

This is my second time taking one of Mr. Currin's classes and I do not regret it one bit. He provides good feedback and will do whatever he can in order to help you write a paper--this includes sparing his free time (no matter the hour) and lending a helping hand. The classes you will take with him (ENGL-101 & 102) are not "writing" classes, but "thinking" classes. The 3 hour classes are normally 1.5 hours, and they are more of a discussion than anything else. We sometimes disagreed with him, but we were able to talk about our viewpoints and share our thoughts about poems, stories, and life. Prepare to talk!

Gives quality feedback for papers that need improvement. Come to class and PARTICIPATE in the class discussions to do well. Can come across at first as a bit intimidating. Will work with you outside of class to revise papers. Work hard and he will notice. Show him that you want to learn and improve your writing skills. Don't focus on the grade.

This guy is a god. Please take him. He's one of the best teachers I've ever had, and that's saying a lot considering I hate English classes. This class is a discussion-based class and your grade comes from the few papers that you write and your participation in class; that's it. Therefore, make sure you do those things to get the grade you want.

I really enjoyed this class. If you are not willing to really put work in, it is not the class for you. Class discussions are very interesting, but it is important to speak up. The papers are graded pretty tough, but if you show up to class & participate in lectures & actually try to learn something youll be fine.

Professor Currin is absolutely amazing, he has a great attitude and is always willing to help. He provides opportunities to improve your grade by revising papers, but most of his class is based off of participation. As long as you're doing the readings and providing good feedback then you're going to enjoy this class. There is never a dull moment.

Definitely one of the most enjoyable lecture classes I've taken. Professor Currin allows the class to converse amongst ourselves without guidance if it is relevant to the topic. There is hardly any note taking, so you must come to class to understand whats happening. I learned more than I thought about poetry and writing. Which made class enjoyable

Mr. Currin's class is lively and conversational with 4 papers that help to determine your grade. The papers are not as hard to write if you attend class and pull from what the discusses. Your grade is determined by your participation in class and improvement in writing throughout the semester. He also will meet with you one-on-one to edit papers.

If you don't like talking in class I wouldn't recommend. If you want honest constructive criticism definitely sign up. He does not hold back but gives opportunities to grow and fix papers. His main objective is to see you trying and growing. You will be graded on your overall growth and effort. He will overall make you a better reader and writer.

Dr. Currin's class has probably taught me the most out of any class at Campbell. His lectures make you truly understand the content without having to take a plethora of notes. His lecture topics really stick with you, unlike other classes. His grading is straightforward. If you put in the work and really grow as a writer, you will get a good grade.

One of the best professors I've had. His lectures can be a little "Risk-kay", but if you can withstand sensitive topics this is the class for you. If you are introverted, I don't recommend this class because the time spent in lecture is mostly discussion. The papers are super easy, and he grades based on growth. He will make time to work with you!!

He is a very charismatic teacher, however there is a specific personality to really succeed in this course. While he grades based on personal growth, the topics you discuss in class and in your papers are not necessarily easy. To succeed you must be able to converse with not only Mr. Currin, but with the literature, and yourself.

Excellent professor! He takes your papers and critiques them in front of the class. It is scary at first, but it is one of the most helpful techniques I've ever seen a professor use. You can tell he has a passion for this subject, and is one of the most caring professors I have had the experience of being taught by! 10/10 recommend.

The lectures in this class are somewhat unusual because it is based on what each student believes on a subject. However, Professor Currin likes to interject wild scenarios to make the students have a broader view on each subject and how ones background can effect ones way of thinking. Professor Currin is always available to talk one on one also.

Mr. Currins English 102 class is about quality over quantity of papers. Be ready to participate and have intellectual conversations on the works you read. Mr. Currin wants to pull the best writer out of all of his students, but you also have to put in the work and drive to be the best writer you can.

He is a really caring professor and wants you to become a better writer. A lot of class is group discussions about very interesting topics and everyone gets involved. Your only homework is really some readings and essays. The essays all have flexible due dates and even after you turn them in you can continue to fix them. Just put the work in!:)

Professor Currin is more than just another professor. He's a life coach. He genuinely cares about the success of his students. He not only gives us his full attention in class, but makes sure we can reach him outside of class as well. He goes above and beyond for his students. He also creates great, real life discussions in class.

Be prepared to analyze the readings in his class and develop opinions/insight. Lectures are driven by the participation of students and classes become really interesting if students become involved. You will become a better writer, he gives you the tools, you just have to put in the effort. Overall a great class and professor.

I can't speak highly enough of Professor Currin! He will do everything in his power to make sure you leave with phenomenal writing and analytical skills! This class consists heavily of compelling socratic class discussions which evokes one to deeper thought. This class touched my life in many beautiful ways! I am truly grateful for this Professor!

Dr. Currin teaches you how to write a paper. His class time is very vocal so get ready too have many groups discussions. He is one of the best professors I have had and is always open to help you and your papers. He gives you the whole semester to fix your papers and continue to make corrections. Easy A if you are willing to put in the work.

I would totally recommend this class if you like to talk. The class is discussion based and when he asks a question, he WILL get a response from you. You only have 4-5 papers that you write and they all have flexible due dates. Your participation matters in class and he will call on you for your answer. Class was never three hours long (1.5-2 max)

Professor Currins English class is not like your traditional English class. He operates his class under the Socratic circle method. This means that class is mainly discussion. Also, Professor Currin was accessible outside of the classroom. He met with me on google docs to critique my paper.

TAKE THIS CLASS!! It's not like the normal English classes, where a paper is assigned/graded and that's the end of it. He will put your paper on blast and criticize the crap out of it, but it is the best thing ever. I never felt more accomplished in learning HOW TO WRITE. As long as you're willing to learn, he will help you outside of class on call

This class is 100% participation and independent thought. To get a good grade you will be required engage during and outside of class to improve your papers. That said as long as you are paying attention you will learn a lot about critical thinking and most likely make a good grade while your at it. + Professor Currin is funny.

Take this class! I would highly recommend Professor Currin for all incoming and current Campbell students. He teaches in an unorthodox way that challenges the student to become a better writer and overall a more informed individual. What you learn in this course is applicable to every aspect of your life. You will never read the same way again.

Dr. Currin is DEFINITELY lecture and participation oriented. At first I was apprehensive to his grading style but over time I realized that it made me a better writer! Take this course with him if you like to talk or want to start getting out of your shell!!!

Mr. Currin is a great professor. Make sure to constantly talk with him in order to review your essays and writing. He is available outside of class which is very helpful. Do take him seriously even though he is very sarcastic.

Be ready to read before class and write essays. Due to his medical condition he is more verbal and prefers to meet either in person or over the phone to grade and critique essays. His class is a very open discussion class. If you like discussion this class is great for you FYI he doesnt believe in As as he doesnt view anyone as superior. LOVE HIM

Hes well accommodating to students who dont speak English as a first language. Communication is a big part at better writing.

Mr. Currin's English class is different from others you have taken before. He is very helpful and wants his students to remember what they learn in his class. Take note of and put into practice his suggestions to make your papers better. You will soon be able to critique your own papers and even hear Mr. Currin's voice in the back of your head.

Mr. Currin helped me develop a better understanding of poetry, and build a better relationship with it. He showed me how to read between the unwritten, and would definitely recommend taking his class in the future!

This was one of the best professors at Campbell that will find a time outside of class to meet with you to go over papers. He taught me what reading really looks like, as well as how to interpret texts (which I had never been taught before). Each class was unique and required group discussion, and overall led to me being a better reader and writer.

When I first took this class, I was not too fond of poetry, but the group discussions and getting ideas from others made me like poetry more. The class overall is easy and doesn't take much work. Easy A if you participate in class and do the few assigned essays.

Mr. Currin loves the material, does not overassign work, and provokes deep discussion in class. Papers are critiqued, but not graded until the end of the semester, and you have unlimited revisions until the last day. He actually cares to make people better at reading and writing. Would take again. Con: He isn't the best with technology.

Professor Currin really has a true gift for creating a space in which a thriving in class conversation can be created and sustained. Lectures are not boring and he really has a true passion for teaching the art of literature to his students. I became a better reader, a better writer, and thinker.

I thought that Professor Currin was very respectful and caring about the students. He was always willing to help and work with you on any essay. I also enjoyed the structure of the class and that you are able to edit your essays throughout the whole semester with Professor Currin's help, which allowed me to improve me reading and writing skills.

I had a great time in this class. Professor Currin actively participated in every lesson, demonstrating his enthusiasm for the material. Mr. Currin demonstrated how having an infinite mindset may benefit those around him, aswell as helping me to find deeper appreciation for poetry, philosophy, and writing.

Professor Currin shows an excellent understanding of students struggling with English. As a non-native speaker, he grades hard but provides terrific insight to improve his writing skill. It was challenging but filling after accomplished his class. My writing and analysis skills have improved tremendously.

Currin emphasizes demonstrating conscious thought. He does this by grading on "improvement" throughout the semester and by applying grades based on class engagement. It may appear difficult to understand what he grades on at first, but his classes make it apparent what he is looking for in essays. Make sure your introductory paragraphs are stelar.

Prof. Currin uses class time to talk entirely in discussion. He encourages students to get out of their comfort zone in public talking and the poetry talk in class was amazing even though throughout my life poetry has been my weak point. His assignments and grading structure is great with focus on revision instead of pumping essays and quizzes out.

Great professor! He focused on having lengthy, conscious, and deep-thought-provoking lectures. He doesn't like cell phones. The grade is participation in class and essays. He encourages calling him multiple times for each paper so you can see what he is looking for. He helps you understand how to write better and understand the process.

Dr.Currin is awesome! His class is participation heavy and is really fun to be involved in. I was very introverted before joining his class but now that has changed! His essays have great prompts and he is hilarious! 10/10 would take his class again.

I enjoyed Mr.Currin's class because it created a safe place for us to have controversial topics. His class allowed me to get a lot of insight on different topics. He also taught me how a paper should be written.

Professor Currin is a great Professor if you thrive with conversation and interaction between your peers. He will challenge you to reach success. He goes out of his way to help you on all your essays in the class. This class is one where you cannot be on your phone during the whole lecture and if that is a problem for you don't take the class.

Mr. Currin helps you to get out of your comfort zone in class and makes sure you get so much interaction throughout. There is so much flexibility integrated into his class with all of the papers being due the last day of class and he is always available to talk and help revise your papers when needed. Prof. Currin is one of the only good professors that teach a lower level English at Campbell. He really cares about the students and is always available any time of day to help a student out. If you actually try in his class it is easy to get an A. He kept the three hour classes interesting and would let stop early if there was nothing left.

Amazing professor. All of the essays were due at the end of the semester so he allowed us a lot of time for revision. Participation is important for every discussion which I personally really enjoyed. It was also really easy getting in contact with him outside of class. No way you can fail unless you are silent the whole semester and write nothing.

He will also guide students in how to take notes in his class as well as how to better understand the content of the material and assignments. Honestly, the class was very straight forward and I appreciated that. With his lectures he also made a point to create entertaining conversations which made the class very enjoyable. While there was a decent amount of reading he is very approachable and ready to provide very good advice pertaining to his essays. Great class.

You can tell that this professor truly loves what he does; he teaches passionately and you can tell he enjoys teaching. He also cares for the success of his students, giving you the opportunity for revisions. The ability to pass this class is solely dependent on yourself because there are no tests just a few papers and in-class discussions.

Professor Currin was a joy to be in class with. We learned mainly through discussion. He gives great feedback about papers that are written and allows for infinite revisions on them with his guidance. After this class I would consider myself a lifelong reader of poetry.

Prof Currin has taught me so much this semester- he teaches through class discussions, which were very helpful for each paper we wrote. We had a week to write each paper, which was a very manageable time frame. He gives excellent detailed feedback on each essay, and truly wants you to grow as both a critical reader, and writer.

Dr. Currin was without fail the best English professor I've ever had, he challenged us during class to think about difficult topics, encouraged us to break out of our comfort zones, was genuinely interested in what we thought about the material, and was so incredibly entertaining during class. I regret not taking him for both English 101 and 102!

Be ready have deep and thought provoking discussion with the class. Be ready to voice your opinion on controversial topics and questions to further understand literature. I had to think about things that i have never had to think about at the level we were discussing. Very entertaining discussions

I've been in a standstill with my writing since 11th grade. There was never any incentive to improve because after you got your grade, that's it. However, Dr. Currin is nothing like that. He will let you rework your paper until you are satisfied with the grade. He will meet with you outside of class to ensure your success. He did not overload us.

His English 102 class is highly discussion based and thought provoking. He can find a highly complex meaning in what appears to be a relatively simple and straightforward work. He will work with you on your papers, and you will be allowed unlimited revisions.

I can tell that Mr. Currin is very passionate about the subject he teaches, and that he cares about his students a lot. Each class period, we had different discussions, and these helped me to come out of my shell and participate. Mr. Currin offers multiple revisions for each paper, and he's willing to give good feedback if you reach out to him.

This is a top three if not number one class I've taken in college. The way Dr. Currin teaches is unlike many classes, he teaches with participation from everyone in the room. It's more of a conversation than a lecture, everything said is important. The things he teaches will be taken with you forever. He teaches how to think deeper and meaningful.

Professor Currin was one of my favorite Professors I have ever had. His ability to spark up interesting conversation, gather different perspectives, and have a heart to understand every individual's story, regardless of their background, was unforgettable. He was a great professor, and this ended up being my favorite English class. You don't need to be a strong writer to succeed, and he focuses more on improvement than perfection. Grades are based on 4–5 papers and one class discussion. As long as you show up and engage in the discussions, you'll do well.

I enjoyed my classes with him - they felt like therapy sessions because of how deep the conversations in classes were. While he gives a lot of creative freedom with essays, he doesn't set specific due dates, so you need to be self-disciplined about completing your work. Overall, he's a great professor!

You have to participate in class and show up to each lecture because catching up may be difficult. Everything in class will or can be used in the real world. Pay attention and have fun as he is a funny and nice professor.

Dr. Currin is one of my favorite teachers/professors/mentors. His class is structured so as to give students the skills to build their confidence and voice their opinions in a respectful environment. He challenges students to critically analyze text and interpret what the author is trying to convey. Additionally, he makes it fun and engaging.

I am not a big talker and this is a class where you need to talk and participate. However other than that it was a really fun class and i enjoyed the conversations that went on.

At first i wasn't so sure about Professor Currin but as i got more into the class he was a great professor! Very funny and makes sure everyone participate in the lectures so if you are shy definitely get ready to break out of that. Participation is also graded at the end of the semester so at least try to say a couple of words here and there!

Professor Currin is truly an amazing professor. He cares so much about his students and he has honestly made the transition from HS English to College level English easy. From someone who has a speech impediment, he worked with me not to be penalized from not speaking but he has truly made me want to try to get out more. Best professor!!
