Derek was a great teacher but tests were HARD he gives u a review that has everything on the test on it which is great, but you actually need to know every single slide in the review !! I'm not even exaggerating he will post a 40 slide review and 38 of the slides will be on the test. Hard but if you are ready to work your set.

Derek's knowledge and enthusiasm made this one of the best courses I've taken. Quite a bit of work, and hard tests but an exceptional learning experience. If all courses were this useful I'd feel like a genius by the time I graduated. Also, NO TEXT BOOK! Just a few cheap case studies and great ppt slides.

Not an easy class, but once Derek breaks the ice with his jokes. He makes the audience relate with him and what he wants to get across. This really helps with the demanding expectations. If you are interested how decisions are made this is the class to look at with out a doubt.

Derek's teachings are VERY clear "to the point". It's important that you attend all of his lectures, even presentations. Everything discussed during theses lectures are on the exams. His very enthusiastic and his classes are very interactive, it helps if the students reciprocate by showing their interest in the course and actively participate.

Derek Vigor was a pleasure to have as a professor. He knew the material in and out, and conveyed this information in a way that was very clear and concise. His input throughout the course helped every team achieve their goals beyond their expectations. I would recommend that everyone be involved with at least one of his classes, you wont regret it.

This is the best professor George Brown has to offer. Derek has a passion for teaching and truly cares about his students success. He will go out of his way to help you and make sure you understand everything he is teaching. My favorite part of the course was writing the exams, why? because he tells you exactly whats going to be on it.

Derek is a teacher who wants you to attend class, participate and ask questions. He pretty much gives you the answers for exams all you need to do is show up during review and study! He was a great professor! Although, you need to work very hard to earn your A in his class. The tests are killer hard and long but apparently all Project Management tests are like that. He gives great review for the tests but if your a slacker you probably won't like this class.

Highly highly recommend. Such an enjoyable class, Derek puts a lot of effort in trying to aim for all learning types. The textbook is not mandatory, but recommended. But do not under estimate the test and/or exam, it is difficult material, lots of memorizing. But if you attend class, write notes, you'll get through it with a breeze.

Derek makes this class extremely enjoyable with his vibrant and humorous lessons. All assignments are clear on his expectations. Lessons are posted before the class so you can view what you will learn. The class before a test he goes over the content so there will be no surprises. Tests are hard but going to this class helps a lot.

I definitely love him. He always inspired students. Exam is not hard, he gave us the review package ,plus need to go to his course (he will ask simple multiple choice question from the lecture). No need to buy textbook.

The Greatest Ever.

Do not hesitate to choose his course. I'm an international student and it was my second semester when I took his course. I motivated to study hard and learned all concepts very well with his clear explanation while other students who took other professors' classes had problems to do their projects and exams with weak knowledge and concepts.

totally recommend dereks class, i took his class in summer and he had to live in the middle of the semester. i felt the difference between his class and the new professor.

The best teacher that I've ever had hands down. He's taken a somewhat "dry" subject and turned into an exciting class that actually made me want to consider a career path in project management. Test difficult was not hard because the material he teaches sticks with you, and he helps you with a review package and interactive in class review.

Now that I'm at another school, I realize how much I miss Derek's teaching style. I felt like I learned a lot more about real life than project management. Excellent Prof who really cares about his students if you're willing to put the effort in. Plus, he is good eye candy. Take him! you won't regret it.

Tests are tough to start with, really expects you to read and understand all the content from his powerpoint slides. You don't need to use the textbook. Project Management workload is a lot and requires you to be specific with your work.. e.g: project charter, risk assesment, etc

Derek was an awesome teacher! My program is in Project Management, and Derek went above and beyond to help me have a better understanding of the class content. The group project was pretty hard but again, Derek provided lots of support to assist with member confrontation or helping get on track and stay on track with your project. Great Class!

Derek was incredible! He was engaging, motivating and had lots of practical examples to relate to his teachings. He was always happy to answer questions during breaks and after class. He had great communication (Responded within 24h) and use of Blackboard for marks and weekly notes. He was happy to problem solve with my group and I on our project.

Professor is definitely one of the professors I have ever had. He is always be prepared to help and give all the knowledge and information to his students. He is young, which is obviously a advantage since he manages the recent "real workforce" requirements. Highly recommended!!!

He's an amazing prof. I'm not even majoring in Project Management yet somehow I got a 4.0. He helps you achieve great marks and answers all your questions in order for you to get a good mark. No texbook is used however it's optional. Group Project is long but very interesting. Hes also funny and very involved with the students!

He's been my professor for 2 Project Management courses, and each time he has never failed to teach me something new and something I can actually apply/ have applied in the 'real world'. Amazing teacher! One of the best classes I had 2nd sem! No textbook needed, as his slides have everything. He does an in-class activity for each lesson for participation marks, which helps us understand the material better. There is one major group project as well, which I actually enjoyed. Great professor! One of the best in George Brown! Uses practical method of teaching. Its not just listen a lecture, read a book and do multiple choices. Derek was by far the best Project Management Professor I've ever had. His knowledge is shared in a slow-paced and organized way. Derek is a lively, passionate, and professional educator. The first half of the semester is all about learning how projects work and all the sexy steps it takes to complete them successfully. Then the second half is all about putting what you've learned into action. One advice: pick your group members carefully and hold them accountable.

Derek is terrific. His lectures are interesting and easy to understand. For the 2 exams (midterm and final) you need to study a lot. And prepare to spend at least 2 hours to finish them, because they have long questions to answer, but not difficult if you study. Finally, he gives a big team project to be developed, which is an awesome experience.

Derek is able to push you to think like a real project manager, if you want to really develop yourself as a professional, his class is a must. He will push you to think on the spot and thats the reality in the real world. Be prepared to have your buttons pushed because he will make sure they become your strengths.

It's really hard to not do well in one of Derek's classes. He gives amazing lectures and is both inspiring and motivating to watch and talk to. His exams are dense on the criteria in the exam reviews, which he diligently goes over with the class. For anyone who cares, it's hard to not thrive in this class. Great concepts to apply in everyday life.

I'm taking Business Marketing and this is my fourth degree. I can say based on a lot of experience that Derek was the best teacher that I've ever had in my life. Great lectures, very clear explanations, always open to debate and to answer questions. Be sure to participate and study out of class and you'll do fine.

Apart from the final group project, there was minimal work for this class. Some of the concepts can be a little confusing however they are explained well in class. Would HIGHLY recommend choosing Derek Vigar for this class (or any class you can). His lectures are very engaging and you really get the sense that he cares about his students.

I had the privilege of being taught by Derek this semester. Derek's lectures were incredibly insightful, engaging and honestly fun! You won't be able to lose focus during class time as he incorporates music, videos, and even fun activities that will genuinely keep you interested. You have many opportunities to get an A+ as long as you work for it!

As far as teachers goes, he's definitely one of the most passionate about teaching. He goes the extra mile preparing his lessons. His positive and contagious good energy makes going to class worthwhile. Derek was by far one of the best professors that I have ever had at George Brown! He is very passionate about teaching his students and he always finds a way to make lectures exciting! He is one of the more supporting teachers at GBC and wants every single one of his students to succeed!!! 100% would love to take Derek again!

It's a dense course - requires lots of extra time with the group project, every class has participation marks, and the exam is tough. However, Derek is one of the best professors, super knowledgeable and experienced in the PM field. His classes are really inspiring and, if you work hard, you get a letter of recommendation from him at the end.

Professor Derek is one of the best Professors that I have ever had! His class is amazing and I extremely recommend you take Project Management with him. Derek is the best professor ever. His classes are the most energetic, motivated and engaged. He keeps everyone interesting in it, before, during and after it. He gets us so thrilled that we want to do our best, to give more than 100% on the assignments, to understand the content of the class and learn more each time and I'm not exaggerating.

If you don't have a PM to interview u are in trouble for the assignment. The final exam was a virtual interview, but he gives u questions beforehand. there are a lot of role-play scenarios.

He is an amazing professor, this class was great. Explains the subject very well, the classes are pleasant. We had assignments throughout the course that helped to better understand the subject. The reviews for the tests were always very good.

Derek is what you want all college professors to be; he's energetic and gives active lectures, accessible and helpful outside of class, and he truly cares about seeing his students do well. I will be taking any courses I can with Derek as a professor!

Derek was one of my most favourite professors! He's made a great job at engaging every student and motivating us to actively participate in all in-class activities! I feel that by the end of the semester we became a real business community, whose members are always there to support each other! I've had an amazing experience studying this course!

Possibly the best professor I've had. Derek does a great job of engaging with the class and getting them involved, which creates a positive and uplifting learning environment. There is a bit of reading (about 20 pages per chapter) but it's interesting if you're into business related topics. In all, I would recommend taking one of Dereks courses.

Derek Is a natural. He is the best prof, he gains the respect of his students quickly due to his genuine demeanor and passion. He works hard to make classes relatable and teach his students the fundamentals of the course while tieing the material into real life scenarios. He wants you to do well, and do what he can to get you there.

Derek was awesome! This is a prof who cares and really wants you to succeed. His lectures are fun and he really provides practical learning. Derek has everyones attention and its not forced, people just want to listen to him. Take this course if you want to learn something and take a break from the mundane multiple choice examination process.

One of the best professors Ive ever had. Hes funny, engaging organized and will make you love Project Management. He knows that the course is not easy so he gives you lots of hints to succeed. His energy and great attitude spark curiosity and commitment to give your best.

Derek is an amazing professor. So long as you attend class, the weekly assignments match up with what he teaches. The exams are straight forward, mostly according to the assignments! He's so caring and very friendly.

There isnt enough space to write how I feel about Derek. He's one of those people that will inspire you. PM isnt for everyone but Derek is able to make it connect to what drives your passion and for that reason I feel he is too good to be just a professor. He needs to be somewhere where he can find people as talented as him for the school to hire !

Wow. He motivates you with his energy, his weekly emails, assignment feedback, jokes and real world examples. You won't regret coming to class since he actually makes the basics interesting to listen to. There's a group assignment that you need to keep up with and make sure everybody does their part. Tests were content heavy but open book.

Being a part of Dereks classroom was one of the most enjoyable fabulous experiences I had so far. Hes super energetic, talented, positive and always finds the best fun way to teach you the materials. At the same time, you have to work hard to get good marks. I loved everything about this project management course just because of him.

In my university and post-grad (GBC) career, Derek has been one of the most memorable professors I have ever had. He really knows his stuff and because of this, is super passionate about ensuring students are set up for success. Prof. Vigar is attentive and uses creative methods to teach/ transfer learning materials. I enrolled into the project management class with 0 knowledge and learned so much at the end. Project Management has become my favourite subject because of Derek who is an amazing professor. His classes and his way of teaching makes one want to get up early and attend them all. He has been the best prof I've had at GBC so far. He's a great and amusing prof, really refreshing. The teams were randomly made by him, so if you have a bad team like me, just focus on the first half of the semester and on individual assignments and you'll be fine. Please take Derek's class, you won't regret it.

If you have the option to take his class, DO IT! His classes are engaging, and he genuinely cares about students. Projects/assignment criteria are clearly established, and he is always willing to clarify any confusion.
