Class was suprisingly interesting. I took it as a requirement for physical sciences. It evolved into one of my favorite classes because the instructor applied local examples to our studies. Definately recommend the course. Both he and the TA are nice to look at too!

This class was perfect. Very low key. It was his first time teaching it so understandable for him to be shaky on the material. 100 question tests. Gives study sheets before tests, that are VERY helpful. Be prepared to study if you want that A.

Just completed the class and glad I took HIS geography. His method of teaching was clear and his expertise in the field is obvious. He made sure we all understood what we needed to complete our assignments and prepare for exams. Wish more instructors here were like him!

This was great class. I was dreading the topic but didn't realize how much I was going to enjoy the class. His lectures were easy to follow and actually utlized the super expensive book unlike other classes I took. He also provides reviews for the exams which is also something I've never experienced. I would highly recommend the class!

I took the class not completely sure what to expect. The instructor made the topic extremely relevant to local issues through example. As the class progressed it became more and more interesting and applicable to my business major. It was a pleasant suprise and as others have mentioned he's not a bad looking guy either... Helps!

Awesome class! Was a choice among other science courses and am extremely glad I did. Lectures were clear and he followed the book. Exams were based on a provided study guide. Homework allowed us to explore our surroundings and they complimented the topics we covered. Instructor was a cool good looking guy who kept the class manageable.

Derrick is one of the best professors that I have ever had. He is truly interested in the subject matter and in his students. He knows his stuff (Hottie!)

He is wicked cool and is patient, funny and willing to put in the extra time and effort to make sure you understand the material.

Derrick is the geography instructor to take whether at CNM or UNM. I dropped the UNM geography and boy am I glad I did! I enjoyed the local examples he gave to us as part of the class. Kept the class interesting and was way better looking than the UNM geography professor. ;)

This was my first geography class. I enjoyed the teaching style. Always tried to make the class interesting and keeps you going with their own sillliness. Their passion for geography is almost contagious. Homework was fun and relevant, useful exam reviews, and very willing to help you to understand the topics. Highly recommended this class!

The instructors in the class were by far the best here at CNM. This class was a hoot, very friendly and interesting. These guys love geography and will frequently go off on what I thought were incredibly fun tangents. Sense of humor is great and made the course worth taking. These instructors ROCK!

GREAT instructors! They really know their stuff about geography. If you are scared about taking geography take their class. I didn't even use my book that much because they explained it so well. They are both nice and funny. If you take their class you will not be disappointed. Do the homework too and you will do just fine in the class.

These guys are awesome. I never know that I could really enjoy a Geography class. They use a lot of videos to help understand the concepts. They are so easy going, and easy to talk to. You will not want to miss a class if you take them. Promise!!

Derrick was a great instructor and is very knowledgeable in his field. Any Geog class you take from him, you will learn alot. Follow his instructions on his syllabus and do all the assignments and attend class, you'll be able to pass the course.

Derrick is firm but fair. He offers discussion, which relate examples both inside & outside the classroom. He has a strong character ethic that is hard to find in people. Do not take him for granted, he is not just a great instructor but a valuable resource in preparing you for the working world!

AWESOME! One of the only classes I can honestly saw I looked forward to. He doesn't kill you with work but gives enough to make sure you understand.

I hate this class. The topics are interesting but the way he teaches with powerpoint slides make it very boring, it seems like he doesnt even know what hes teaching. He gets mad when you don't answer a question and if you ask a question he just confuses you. The work is easy but I dont like this teacher at all.

mr a is an excellent instructor. he kept students accountable and responsible. nothing was above and beyond the normal expectations of any COLLEGE course. Exams were take home and homeworks were great at covering chapters in class.

Geography was not something I connected to until this class. I thought my major had nothing to do with this topic but it most certainly does. I personally enjoyed his teaching method and sense of humor. Other instructor's overkill the topic, he kept it where it should be.

Derick is a tough but great teacher. He will definately keep you committed to the course. His teaching style prepares you educationally but also professionally. Alot of students are caught off guard when he calls them out on their lack of committment to the class. I learned a great deal and appreciated his efforts.

Found the class to be very interesting, relevant and eye opening which made the class worth taking. Final projects were great where he allowed us to be creative and helped us make the connection to our surroundings. Would recommend Derrik to anyone needing a geography class.

the class eventually became one of my favorites. as others mentioned he is tough on keeping students accountable. i thought his depth was totally appropriate for an intro and non-major. we had take home exams which were based on lecture and text. as a part-time instructor he makes that connection to real world expectations.

I had Mr. Archuleta for Geography 1101. I enjoyed his class a lot.You get a HW assignment pretty much every week. If you focus on knocking out the hw quick, this course will probably be super easy. He can say some funny things to get the classes attention, while he is teaching from his power point slides.

Good teacher. Truly wants his students to learn. However, you must stay on top of the homework and the book is of tremendous help on the take home exams. I had an online copy of the book which really helped. As long as you follow his rules, it will be an enjoyable class.

Fun awesome class! Format is easy to follow with great mind provoking videos. He's a very patient and tolerant instructor. Homeworks connect you to a country and exams straight from the book and lecture.

If you get a B or C in this class you're Lazy, if you get a D or F you're Stupid. No reason anyone shouldn't get an A. Everything is taken from text. Exams are take home and homework connects to lecture. He does keep you accountable, more instructors should. He's a cool person too.

The class can be overwhelming with all the information covered but he keeps it manageable. He keeps you responsible but overall if you keep up and focus on the stuff he covers in lecture you'll be fine. Make the effort to deal with him one on one and he will work with you.

Great class, interesting material covered. Expectations are high but if you keep up you'll do fine. Exercises took time but if you ask questions he'll help you out.

Straight forward class, he's very clear with what's expected. Covers topics in text and exams are taken from there. Homework covers an assigned country for the semester. Final presentation at the end of the semester. Perfect level of depth for an intro class. Very approachable and as others have mentioned he will make the effort to help you.

This class is an easy A only if you try. I would reccomend his class to non-majors it is a perfect introductory class, alot of matierial is covered and you learn a lot about geography. I really enjoyed his class.

One of the best instructors for me so far here. He made a complicated topic understandable. He's very easy to get along with goes out of his way to assist you if you ask. I'd definitely recommend!

If you read the book and make good notes, it's easy to pass. The tests were take home but require that you read and understand the book. There was also a final presentation which was easy but did require some work ahead of time. He is very clear on what you need to do, just follow that and you'll be fine.
