very modern teacher, acts like a student and is very helpful. he lets you out of class early when the lecture is done or when he wants to go. tests are open answer and overall a pretty good teacher. you dont need the book in his class and his reviews are the exact questions on the test or very similar.

This guy is so cool. He's so funny and makes the class go by fast. Tests are open book and easy. Wish he was teaching MAC1105. I would definitely recommend him.

Best math teacher at BCC, only problem is i think he only teaches up to MAT0024 now, great teacher all his directions are clear he also breaks everything down so that everyone can understand, all his tests are take home, take this teacher if u need mat0024 your guranteed an A.

Dr. Ruffin is such a great teacher.He's hillarious, and will tell you how it is. He is extreamly helpful and will work on problems with you until you understand. He's such a great teacher that myself and 50% of my class are taking him for 0024.Don't get on his bad side though, if he tells you something that he's sure of he'll usually win the battle

He goes really quick through the material. If your not good in math don't take him during the summer. He gives FIVE class test and the final, in which u have to pass or else ur done. I Barely passes.

Got an A in the class. Tall fat black man with dry sense of humor. Goes through material quick, lets you out early. Makes A LOT of board mistakes so watch out. Gives homework but doesn't collect it. 5 tests total always gives test review... very easy class but extra studying needed if you want to pass with an A

Dr Ruffin is a big tall guy, but he's got a heart of gold and is a great teacher. Even when the math books throws overly complex problems at you, he'll still keep the test nice and simple. If you're learning Square Routes he'll do an easy one like SR of 9 on the test, instead of 2567 like the book.

If you go to class, take notes, and pay attention you should do fine. The homework isnt collected but if you don't understand the material then do a few problems. His tests are easy, 2 were take home. A test review is done before every test and its the same problems but he changed a few things, even the final. Take his class its easy. I got an A.

Lemme start by saying theres times algebra sounds like friggin greek to me. Ruffin changes that, he doesnt over explain, he explains till you get it. He doesnt grade hmwk, grade is based on your test scores and final. But if you have struggled with algebra TAKE HIM, hell get you where you want to get. really disappointed he wont be doing 1033.

Took this professor for mat0012 and am currently in his mat0024 class. Definitely the best professor I've ever taken. He takes his time and teaches to where students understand. I highly recommend Dr. Ruffin to anyone struggling to pass their math courses.

very realistic with adult students time against homework. he is clear and his pace is perfect. he helps a lot with the review tests. he doesnt ask for lab hours.

Great Professor. WIth math i either get it or i don't, and i normally don't, but with Ruffin i got it every time! My lowest grade was a 95, and i never ever did the homework. Pay attention and it'll be a sure pass.

One of the best math professors at BC. He's very clear and helpful when it comes down to learning the material. GREAT sense of humor. Doesn't require lab hours.He grades really fair and gives out easy exams. Just show up and do attempt to learn the lesson plan. easy A. Take him if he's available.

I took his MAT0028 class over the summer and it was a breeze. He makes everything so much easier to comprehend. Homework is not mandatory but helps benifets you for the test.

BEST TEACHER TO TAKE FOR MATH. His class only lasts about 30-45mins. His reviews are basically the answers to the tests. 3 open notes, 20 questions each. He gives HW but doesn't grade it. He's super chill, but doesn't let you use your phone or a calculator(you dont need it) would recommend taking it.

1 word: AMAZING. I hated math with a passion until I took him. I failed it 3 times at BC but took him at Palm Beach and got a B+. This class was a breeze! For the first time ever I understood math and looked forward to attending class. He's nice, and super funny as well! Take him!

I Love this teacher I wish he taught MAT1033 at Central campus I woud of liked to have taken another one of his classes. You get 5 test and a final and homework you don't need to turn in which can help you and yet at the same time hurt students. Always do the homework so you can pass the test practice makes perfect : )

This guy is the truth! Finally someone that breaks down math where you can understand it. I didn't buy the book and got an A. You only have to do 10hrs in the lab and homework isn't required. He replaces the lowest test score with the final grade if the final is higher. Very easy to understand and helpful. Reviews every test to the exact question!!

Dr. Ruffin is patient and makes sure you understand the material before he moves along. This class is fast paced. Speak up if you "don't get it". Uses ALEKS as homework. I loved taking him. I have chosen to do the next class with him as well. Funny and helpful. Not so good at email responses but very approachable in class. Gives you the chances. I am a single working mom and he understood my work sometimes kept me from class. Just take notes do the online part and come to take the tests! Oh and I hate Algebra!

Pretty funny guy, his teaching style is good. He gives you 4 tests, and a final which is 70%. Then Aleks which is 20%. I wish this guy was teaching College Algebra, he can teach.

Professor Ruffin makes math fun! He's a cool, hype guy from Philly. All test are take home test except for the final exam !!! He makes learning math understandable.

He does give a lot of homework, but if you do well on the tests, you'll pass. He reviews before each test. He keeps things interesting and promotes participation. I'm good at Math and took a higher level at a different university (Broward wouldn't accept my credits), but I think he's a great professor for those who struggle as well. Take him.

Dr. Ruffin is one of the best math professors out there. Explains the material step by step for those that find math difficult. Everything is through Aleks and his tests are take home. But, the final exam is not take home. Before tests, he does a little review which I find super helpful and he makes math fun. Definitely recommend taking him.

I was very careful choosing a math professor since it isn't my best subject and Dr. Ruffin did not disappoint! Does not make the class harder than it should be & all lectures are clear. He does use ALEKS as part of his grading which can be tons of work but it balances with his lectures. Wish he was teaching College Algebra next term!

I'm awful with math, but Dr. Ruffin makes its so simple, I have taken him for 2 semester now and I wouldn't of passed math without him. He is super easy, gives you take home test, and the homework is on Aleks. If you aren't great at math I HIGHLY suggest him, his lectures are easy and tells you exactly what is on the test. Dr. Ruffin is a likable, affable teacher - very warm and friendly. Makes you feel comfortable in class but still takes teaching seriously. He was a pleasure to learn from and he definitely calmed my nervousness about trying to lean algebra after 20 years of not being in school!

I highly suggest Dr. Ruffin, if you want to learn and actually have fun doing it, he appreciates and loves to engage with his students throughout his lecture, and turns math into a fun, easy to learn process. I loved this class it was my very first math class in college and he made it very easy. Be on time because he start as soon as the class is in session. He give take home tests but dont make this a opportunity to cheat because it will show in the final which is in the class. No book to purchase. My class was 2-5p we left at 3 to allow time for HW.

I highly recommend Dr. Ruffin class because he makes the materials super easy to understand it. You have to make sure that you are in class so that you don't miss any lectures. Easy class take him. Textbook is optional as long as you come to class and take notes, all of his lectures are on the tests, if you miss his lectures take notes from others.

Dr. Ruffin is a Gem in today's in today's class room and could be considered a rare fine. I have not being in a class room for over twenty years and I was not looking forward to doing Mathematics. But this class was so fun and light you forgot that you were actually in a Math Class. Yes, I will be taking him in every Math Class until it ends!

THE best MAT1033 Professor at Broward College. I got so lucky to get in his class because they fill up so quickly. Everyone should have their experience with Professor Ruffin. YOU CANNOT FAIL HIS CLASS IF YOU DO THE WORK and I am TERRIBLE at math!!

Prof really tries to break the material down so that it's easier to understand. He will stop class and explain further if anyone has any questions. Aleks is tedious work but it's better to do it and understand it then cheat since his tests are similar.

He is awesome! I'm horrible at math, mainly because of teachers don't care but he does! He will take the time to break down if you don't understand and gives you plenty of time to finish ALEKS at home ( make sure you do ) it is a big part of your grade! Don't skip or you'll miss a lot of work!

This professor is great! He always taught math through humor, and it honestly made learning so much more fun! The reviews are just like the test, so as long as you know the review you will pass the test! ALEKS is very important. I missed some ALEKS and my grade landed right at a 79. No extra credit is offered to make sure you stay on top of things

Professor Ruffin was the bets math professor I've ever had. He made his class easy to understand and worked at a good pace. Dr. Ruffin is very funny and doesn't make class boring AT ALL. The homework is all on Aleks. The grades are all posted in Aleks after you take your quizzes and tests. When taking notes use everything that he writes on the Board to help you with your homework and tests. He gives study guides for you to study a few days before you end up taking the test. For the final he gave three study days.

If you need an easy A this is were its at. Hes very good at explaining problems and doesnt mind many questions. The review for the tests, he practically gives you the exact problems on the test. Very nice guy ! Would recommend. The only thing I hated was the online homework Aleks suck :(

Ruffin is probably the best choice for this class. He basically gives you the test questions in the review. I was disappointed because I got a C on the first test, but I got As on the last three tests and an A on the final so I passed his class with a 98. He's hysterical. Make sure you don't neglect Aleks. It's a big part of the grade.
