Very easy class as long as you answer your discussion questions and actually show that you looked at the artwork. Prof white was quick to grade and answer any questions. Took online for summer one.

Mr. White was a really good teacher to me as a online student. He always answered my questions when I would email him and ask. I like the way he runs his class. He is also very good at explaining things that you might get lost on.

I came in this class thinking I was going to hate it because Im not a fan of art. As the class started, it became my favorite class. Professor Derrick had a good personality which made the class much better. He would also bring food to almost every class. We didnt only learn art appreciation but we learned life appreciation. You wont regret it.

By far one of my favorite professors and he's super funny and chill. I wouldn't mind taking him again. Plus the class is SUPER easy!

The class was exceptional. In all honesty, I've learned more about life in this class than I did and any others. Not necessarily how to wake up, pay bills, and go to work, but how to appreciate the little things and the details of everything. That is in large part due to the outstanding work of professor White. Take this Professor for an easy A! He literally only wants a nicely thought out opinion on artists or a piece of artwork. The hardest thing about this class is the amount you have to do, but he gives you A LOT of time to complete the work. If you do one discussion every one or two days, you'll be done before the due date! I took the online class.

I enjoyed Fine Arts all semester. It was a pretty easy course if you came to the lectures. I enjoyed his surveys and art discussions.I like how every class period he would do one out of three- inspirational video, ask us how our semester was going or just tell funny jokes to help us wake up. I would definitely recommend a friend if he/she need this

This professor was really cool and I learned a lot. His lectures were easy to understand and remember. His exams/quizzes weren't hard and actually covered what was talked about and what was in the workbook.

Derrick White is an amazing teacher, he is fair in his grading and if you honestly apply yourself you should find yourself making an A I believe. Derrick inspired me to be more involved with art in my life which I never expected I would end up doing. I would highly recommend this teacher.

Mr. White is a great Art teacher. He is clear on what needs to be done weekly. I took a 8 week course and had roughly 10-13 discussions due weekly. He is not a tough grader, he just wants your honest opinions and effort on your part. If you know nothing about art and this freaks you out, dont be. He honestly just wants you to participate.

The class itself is relatively easy, however, if you are tend to procrastinate the assignments will catch up to you and could cost you a letter grade. When answering class discussions, give your honest opinion. Do not let the fear of being wrong or sounding silly stop you from voicing your opinion. In this class and art there are no wrong answers

Professor White was by far one of the BEST professors ever!! I took him for art appreciation honors, and it was nothing like I expected it to be. I was anticipating having to learn all about the history of art, and having to draw every week or so, but it turned out to be a film studies course, which was really awesome! 10/10! You won't regret it!!

This has been one of my favorite classes I have taken since I have been at TJC. The class makes you want to get up and be productive, to make art for the sake of your own pleasure. I took this class online during the summer and there were a lot of assignments and reading but all he asks is that you show effort and participate really. He is also funny!

I enjoyed this class, I got to learn a lot more about art and how many different materials you can use. And I also learned that art does not have to be a painting, art can be a photograph, sculpture, a building and many more.

I was not looking forward to this class but really enjoyed it. I learned a lot and enjoyed the content. You have to do the readings and activities, post lots of opinions/reactions and take open note tests. If you do the work, you'll be fine. Mr. White is great and is passionate about teaching art. Definitely recommend.

His online course was pretty simple. You had chapters you went over in an Art book (not text book) and you reviewed certain artist. A lot of the discussions he mainly wanted your opinion. Test were easy just actually had to have PowerPoint up and the small book provided to answer. He is a great professor and very easy to communicate with.

The online class was easy just don't procrastinate. Do your discussion questions and put in effort and its easy.

All you have to do is show up and turn in responses and quizzes on time. We were given plenty of time for that and it was a low-stress class. One of my favorite classes and teachers so far. Would definitely recommend!

Easy Art appreciation teacher. I recommend taking the 8 week course; we got out early every day. He mostly just showed clips and movies. Easy assignments and tests, you won't regret taking this class.

I loved how he provided videos to get a more in debt look at a specific artist. This was a very good class. And he graded work in a timely manner and also responded to emails in a amazing time matter. I took the class online. Though we did have like 52 assignments they were super easy, basically read the section assigned then write a discussion.

Professor White is a great teacher. I took art appreciation with him, online, for the 8 week course and it was a great! You will have lots of assignments and discussions due on the same day, but they aren't anything hard, just time consuming so do them throughout the week so you don't get overwhelmed. Pretty easy and interesting class to take. I did not expect to like the course this much but I did. I learned so many cool things that I never knew before about art. Pretty clear grading policy and does respond to email pretty swiftly as well.

There are a lot of assignments given but they are super easy!! Take this class you will not regret it. No books needed. All we used was powerpoint slides to read and answer group discussions and quizzes.

This professor knows his class is an elective but makes it as enjoyable as possible. As long as you do the discussions and read through the work book (the "textbook") for the tests you will pass. I learned some interesting things from his class.

He takes his classes seriously and grades you fairly. His class is highly enjoyable and I would recommend anyone to take his class. I took it online and it was very easy, just read the textbook, which is short, read through the slide show, and respond to the discussion assignments.

He takes his class very seriously, I enjoyed that he had a set date for our assignments weekly, for example, every Wednesday we would have something due and this class was an easy A as long as you do all the assignments you should have no problem. He is a great professor and encourage everybody to take him.

This class was pretty interesting. Allowed for a unique and out of the box outlook into the world of film. Was kind of disappointing, however, to find the arts appreciation class mainly focused on film.

Derrick White was a great professor for this class and made the class honestly easy. I took it as a matter and got done with it in couple of weeks. There is a decent amount of work to be done, but it's pretty easy and he usually grades within couple of hours.

I took this class in a Maymester and actually really enjoyed it. The course work is easy to follow and there are powerpoint lectures for all 4 units. The work is very easy but does require effort. Overall, I loved this class and feel like I actually came out with a deeper appreciation for art. Professor White is very kind and wants you to succeed!

I would definitely take this class again. I took Professor Whites 3 week course. thought it is a lot of online lectures and viewing art. The Assignments revolving it are not hard at all. He really just wants to you see you participate, and give a honest opinion of what you thought. The exams are great too. Open book and notes. Not hard at all!

Derrick White is a great teacher. He doesn't grade too hard and has a couple extra credit opportunities. He really just want's your opinion about the topic. The test are multiple choice and not too hard.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this teacher, this was just a very hard class, I will say this I kind of wished this class would of had one topic about music. It's mostly discussions, but the teacher gives great feedback.

There were to many discussions I would have rather wanted a short quiz with multiple choice for each section. The discussions took a lot of my time to go over every video or website. There was like about 30 discussions and I wasn't so sure about my answers.

This is a rather easy class, you just have to participate with a little bit of effort and you will do just fine. Loved this professor.

This class overall was very chill, he gave us a few weeks to do half of the course and then gave us another few weeks to do the other course. He was respectful and was caring to ask if we had any questions or concerns., he also let us take our time with his class assignments.

I really enjoyed his class because it's completely self-taught and self-paced all you have to do is meet the deadlines and actually try. I've learned a plentiful amount from this course as well and can funnily enough appreciate art a lot more.

Easy class just follow the modules and you'll do fine. I took this class as an 8-week course and I couldn't imagine taking it in a 16 weeks. There are a lot of things to do but If you can manage your time you will be fine.

I learned alot taking his art appreciation course and I really wished I took his class in person. It was fun and I truly feel like a have a better artistic eye for appreciation and understanding of other artist work. I would recommend his online course especially if you like to work at your own pace.

Whilst it was a lot to try and look at all the sights and post in each discussion, I did have a great time. My problem is that I ran out of time. Maybe not as many separate discussions. lol. Otherwise I had a freaking great time. I learned a lot I didn't know and got to experience some artists I had never seen. 10 out of 10 man!!

I loved the teaching style and the fact that although we had to read the workbook, another way of learning with bright colors and information from the slides was a way to wake up the mind as well and help remember the information. I liked not having to reply to others opinions in every discussion.

I was not drawn to art and only took the class for the credit needed: however, Professor White kept things interesting and I learned a lot about art. There is a lot of homework because I took it as an online class. The homework was extremely easy though! Professor White was an extremely good professor and worked extremely well with me if I had any technical problems at all. I 100% recommended him as a professor!

The professor was great at showing you different types of art that I did not know existed. Yes, some of my responses that I gave was short or not enough information. Therefore, Professor White would give me the grade that I deserve. Would I take another one of his classes? Yes, not that it is require, but it brought out different outlooks on art.

I would defiantly recommend taking Art Appreciation its a very easy course to take. But there are a lot of dissuasions and forums you have to do. But other than that Professor White is a great professor and I very much enjoyed his class.

Derrick White's online art class is very easy all you have to do is read the online PowerPoint and textbook. Most of our assignments are easy you just have to do your work. I took it as a winter course and it was the PERFECT course for this. It felt tailor made to be a winter course as all the assignments were made available at the start of the course. There were 2 types of grades, discussion where we replied to the topic assigned without responses to students and 4 tests open book. The discussions weren't hard 10/10.

I did one of his online classes. As longer as you keep up with the due dates you will be fine. He lays all the work out right in front of you so it is hard to fail if you are putting work in. There are a lot of decision post so be ready for that. Nice guy and I would take him again.

I took this course for the Spring semester and really liked the fact that it was divided up into four sections with all assignments due at the end of each section, you can complete them at your own pace rather than having set due dates for each thing. Made it much easier to complete at times when I wasn't overwhelmed by workload in other classes.

I took this online and loved the layout of the course. There are discussion questions however they are not like traditional courses where you basically make up a reply to other students. He wants your genuine thoughts and interpretations of the art. Stay on top of the discussion questions, pay attention to the due dates, and tests are open book.

The professor's professional was excellent I love the lectures he had for us learn more art than ever before.

I learned a lot about different types of art, and Professor Derrick put them together in a very interesting and visually appealing way with slides.

Professor White does a great job of making you feel seen in an online and fast-paced environment. I really enjoyed this class and felt supported.

Professor White's class was straightforward: just do the work, and you'll get an A. It was open book, so he suggested buying the optional textbook for reference on tests and homework. His teaching made art appreciation both accessible and rewarding.

I enjoyed this class. I'm a procrastinator so don't make the same mistake as me and wait til the last minute. Even though I did, Prof. White's lectures are easy to follow and very informative and I was able to do most of them in one day.

Mr White was amazing, the course is built for you to take something away even if you didn't want to learn about it which I found phenomenal! Thank you!

Art is not my favorite topic, and before I took this class, I tried to avoid anything to do with it. But, after taking this class, I found a newfound appreciation for art. I really appreciate all the resources he gave students in order for them to complete all assignments. Would recommend this class to other future students.

Mr. White will give guidance and encouragement. He responds quickly to emails and is a very creative teacher, making him a wonderful artist and professor.

The professor is very understanding and easy to work with. The class itself is very easy and not hard. I was never stressed or confused. Everything is layed out to where you know where everything is at. All the tests and quizzes were easy to do. I enjoyed the class a lot and I would do it again.

Art was never something I actually enjoyed. After taking this class I'm actually pretty happy about learning the art museums that are near me. It makes you look and think about art you may have seen but never pay attention to.

I love his artwork and I love his sense of humor but this course was a wild ride. Happy to have it done.

You should try this class! I've learned a ton from class and checked out the different perspectives and styles on the museum websites our teacher recommended. Each artist profile brings something fresh and unique, and it's given me a lot of new ideas for my own art. It's a cool experience!

Very easy class! Made Art interesting by showing different perspectives and included film making in art. Very creative yet easy assignments! Would definitely retake a class with him.

There are a lot of discussions which is not something I'm used to but the professor does the best he can for an online class.

I actually genuinely enjoyed this course! I typically do not find enjoyment in learning about art history, but this course taught it to us in a fun way! I definitely appreciated the use of videos in assignments rather than assigning us lengthy paragraphs to read. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who asks me in the future.

Not a lot of difficult assignments, but be make sure to have decent English skills and set time aside for watching a fair amount of movies and trailers.

This class was a lot of fun! Getting to sit back and learn about art and consume different medias of art was a refreshing break from the heavy academics of other classes. The professor isn't a hard grader at all, and as long as you do the work and put thought into what you write, you'll be completely fine!

Great and awesome class. Would retake this class if I could. The instructions were straightforward and got straight to the point! He will not let you fail this class!

This online art class was very fun to take as an 8 week course. I needed an art credit to be core complete but did not want to take something took too much time. In the end it was neat to learn some concepts of art.

He is a very good professor, just do the easy assignments and it will be a breeze.

An excellent professor that is true to his job. He made sure I was understanding each assignment and was very hilarious along his power points. I really enjoyed taking this class, and I'm sure I would of enjoyed it even more if had taken it face to face.

This Professor does not give difficult assignments, and really helps you understand art more. I never cared for art, and now it has caught my attention due to this class.

I really enjoyed the course. I learned a lot about many talented artists, museums, and art websites. There are a lot of discussions, but they are not difficult. Professor White can see if you are putting in effort into your discussion response, I recommend getting the assignments done early and taking your time.

The class was very easy and understanding, there wasn't a lot of work but when there was it was kinda a lot to do in little amount of time, unless you are the type of person to sit and do all the work in one day. But overall it was very simple and easy.

I think Professor White is a wonderful art professor that genuinely cares about his students and shows a lot of passion with his job. He is very smart and knows how to teach his students to understand more about the class.

I learned so much in this class! The professor is kind, funny and very talented in all areas of art. It was an absolute blast!

I literally loved this class. It was so simple to follow along through the lectures and assignments. He also grades your work like as soon as you turn it in, or at least the day of. His work is all posted the day you start the class so you can do it on your time schedule. I definitely recommend this class especially for the 3 week mini mester!

Overall, the class is not hard. The professor communicates great, which is a huge bonus, since I have had professors who do not! There was ALOT of discussion posts, but I took it in 3 weeks. So having 50 discussions is a lot. The discussions were fairly simple though, and his grading seemed very fair, as long as you put some effort.

Professor White gave assignments that were made clear and understandable for one to complete. I enjoyed doing this online course.

This class has forms of art for everyone including movies, short films, music, paintings, sculptures, and more. I would recommend that anyone who needs a fine arts credit take this class.

I took the online 7-week flex course. It was a lot to pack into 7 weeks but still manageable. a lot of discussion posts, 1 group analysis, & 4 tests. Mr. White is a great teacher and I would recommend taking his class. I was someone with very little knowledge of art, and it was a very enlightening course.

This class was absolutely incredible, and I honestly wish this professor taught other core subjects because I would sign up in a heartbeat. He was always available to answer any questions I had and approached every concern with such understanding and patience. He's just amazing—definitely a 10/10 in my book!

the beginning can be very hard and confusing but when you start to read carefully and focus more. then you'll be able to do everything correct and deserve the grade you work for.

Took an online course and it all the PowerPoints and the textbook (optional), were very helpful to get an A in this class. As long as you read everything that's given, and reach out for help, if necessary, you will easily pass this class.

Professor White sets up for his online class , even during the summer course very easy to follow and easy to understand directions. Everything was extremely organized and well put together and was able to get all the studying/information needed to do all the discussion assignment's. Who doesn't love open book online tests?

I really enjoyed this course and learned way more than I expected. Before taking it, I didn't have much knowledge about art history or different movements, but now I can recognize and appreciate everything from Renaissance painting to modern installation art. The way the lectures were organized made the material interesting and easy to follow.

I took the Summer class and I enjoyed the ability to finish the discussions at my own pace. I learned a lot about art processes and artists that I had never heard of. Professor White messaged weekly and was always available to help with problems. I recommend this class and professor.

The online class has been my favorite so far. I honestly didn't think I would enjoy this much. I loved learning about the history of art and everything that comes with making/experiencing art. Anyone can easily enjoy this class with a positive mindset going into the lecture.

I enjoyed this quick trip through the history of art. Professor White's podcast was professionally done and easy to listen to. I used the online lectures to follow along as I listened. They coincided with one another, making it easy to learn the material. The class covered every aspect of the art world. I would recommend your class to others.

Professor White actually reads and response to your disscion post. He is also very easy to get in contact with when you have question about the course ( I took this course online ) so normally it is hard to get help. 10/10 Recommend this professor !
