What a BLAST!!!
He is SOOO NICE!! He gives you plenty of chances to get an A. Just do ALL the homework he barely collects, if he suspects you didn't he'll collect it, ask questions before he leaves ('Cause he doesn't have an office),& correct anything wrong!
Very friendly, he can be very unclear most of the time. I would not take his class again.
Weirdest guy i have ever met...hard to concentrate on math when the guy is constantly moving. he does try, but cant hear so sometimes he doesnt understand.
the worst
Very hard to concentrate in his class... but he is always available at the Student Resource Center for tutoring.
I thought he was really easy-barely collects homework and reviews are EXACTLY like tests. Get past his weirdness and you'll do fine. I get almost all his explanations.
Nice guy - so easy. You just need to do well on tests. Really knows his stuff and explains well.
Nice guy... hard to understand at times, you don't really get used to his manner, but he's a good teacher. He knows how to explain very well and takes a million questions if you have them. Patient. Do the homework so you're not lost on the test, he sometimes collects it. Nice guy if you want to lear
He is a great teacher!!! He even takes his spare time to meet with students for study sessions. The only thing students have to adjust to is he is constantly moving. He had high fever as an young boy and lost part of his hearing. His constant moving is also a result of that.
He was the nicest guy and explains everything very well. Like to tell little jokes to get the point across. His reviews are like the test. And he even stays after to help with homework problems. I would take him again.
I have to agree that he is an excellent teacher. He explains very well. And takes time to help you before or after class. The book is kind of hard, tho.
Not so funny, if not inappropriate jokes. patient, but not very easy to follow. couldn't concentrate at all with his moving and occasional groaning.
very good for students with math anxiety
If you study your reviews,go to him for help, and redo the tests you will be OK.
VERY HELPFUL AND NICE, WEIRD PERSONALITY
he is a great teacher and really knows what he is teaching.
i LOVE mr g !!! Hes so awesome !!! best math teacher I have had at MCC so far.. am taking him for 1033
Great teacher and goes the extra mile for you...never intimidating. I am taking him again for 1033. Seriously..he's the best!
great teacher, will totally go out of his way to help you. he wants everyone to do well. he has silly jokes, that can get a little old, but he is so entertained by them that you can't help but laugh. his reviews are basically his tests with different numbers. 10 points for mr. g!
This is the most helpfull teacher I have ever met. He really enjoys teaching and does it vey well. He will even go to new college if mcc lab is closed on a holiday. A surperior Teacher !!!
He is so devoted to his students, he really is an exceptional instructor. I think MCC needs many more of him. He goes the extra mile and never gives up on you. What a joy it was to be in his classroom. I am taking his stats class in the summer and I hope to do well in that. Thanks for all the extra help Mr. Gottlieb, you are a dear soul. :)
Nicest professor you will ever meet. Totally devoted to his work, and always helpful. Make no mistake this guy knows alot and is very inteligent.
Very knowledgeable! However, frequently mis-copied problems from the text book to the black board. But, really seems to care about students.
i took him for stats and college algebra at the same time over the summer i got an A in stats and a B in college algebra if u do his review u should pass every test with at least a C i got bs and as on most of them hes a great teacher and probably the best math teacher at mcc id recomend him for any math class you need to take that he teaches
I did not think Mr Gotlieb was a very good teacher. He spent a month going over and over truth tables and then jammed everything else into a very short period of time. He makes easy topics appear to be very confusing. He takes FOREVER to hand anything back and lost his grade book at the end of the semester. Much too disorganized!! Nice guy though
I thought he was awesome, aside from taking weeks to give grades back. Tests are 1/2 in-class and 1/2 take-home. Reviews are given & tests/finals are straight off the review, just different numbers. Plus they are all open-note!! He will also meet with you before/after class & weekends to help.
He’s an incredibly intelligent man, who cares deeply about the success of his students. He often makes himself available on his own time. Once you get beyond a few idiosyncrasies, he’s really a pleasure. The material covered was not difficult and his testing and grading policies were very liberal. I think he’s a great teacher.
Professor G is a caring and compassionate instructor. MCC is VERY lucky to have him on staff. Goes the extra mile for those who are in need & ask. Take advantage of this professors generosity, especially if you aren't a Math "student". You won't be sorry
Awsome teacher! He can be a tad confusing at times but is very willing to clarify if asked directly. he works straight out of the book and will show easier methods than the book when he has them, but if you skim the chapter before class you will be fine . he is very student frienly and goes out of his way to help. Really great guy!
Professor Gottlieb is just wonderful.Goes the extra mile, cares about all his students and an overall nice person
he's a weirdo, but I recommend him. If you can ignore his burping, farting and the strange rocking back and forth he always does, you'll be ok. He's a nice guy, let's you re-take tests if you screw up bad, doesn't check homework until the test day, and he gives reviews just like the test. He tells jokes that are so stupid, their funny.
Great teacher, he actually teaches you step by step from the book. He'll stop and answer questions which will be extremely helpful to you if you need the help understanding math. I highly recommend this teacher. He gives reviews just like the tests and will allow make-ups and redos at half credit if you need it.
an awesome teacher.he is willing to help students who have difficulty comprehending what is taught. he explains subjects in detail making sure it is understood.
Hes a really nice teacher. Hes funny and very helpful. Defintly recommend him. He will help you until you inderstand completely.
Excellent Teacher! Works hard to get students to understand the subject being taught with a great deal of detail and very polite and extremely helpful.
Super nice professor. Almost too nice, gets caught up w/ students who need to learn to work on their own. Weirdest professor ever, but really like him. His jokes are terrible, but he bends over backwards to help students out. I have taken him twice for different subjects and plan to take him again for Calc. Recommend him highly.
By far the best math teacher ever. I would take him for every math class if I could, unfortunitely he only teaches part time. BEST MATH TEACHER! He is always making jokes to keep your attention. Very funny guy. Makes math so easy to understand. Great guy : )
Great professor... tests are not too difficult, you get reviews for every test some test have take home portions, homework is not mandatory, few very easy projects. Be warned he is EXTREMELY corny... he tries to make jokes all the time but dosent succeed very well, but if you can put up with that the class is super easy
Love, love, love Prof. Gottlieb! He is THE math teacher for the non-math-gifted student.
THIS TEACHER IS THE BEST MATH TEACHER. JOKES ARE SO CORNY YOU CANT HELP BUT LAUGH. MAKES THE CLASS SO EASY. LOVE THAT HE DOESNT FORCE HOMEWORK BUT ITS NICE TO DO IT. I TAKE HIM FOR PRE ALGEBRA AND HE LITERALLY GOES OVER EVERYTHING. PEOPLE ARE SHY TO SAY THEY DONT UNDERSTAND, BTU HE STILL GOES OVER IT. WILL TAKE HIM AGAIN.
Awesome teacher! He makes math!! Very helpful and really cares about his students. Plus, I like his jokes.
I hated math prior to coming in his class, but with his help I am starting to actually "like" the subject. HE IS SUPER AND VERY HELPFUL.But beware he has the CORNIEST jokes, so corny they make you laugh!!!
He is a great teacher. He is helpful, he will arrange to make appointments with you for extra help. I love this teacher. His handwriting is bad but he will rewrite it if you dont understand. If you dont pass this class you are crazy
He has a smart mouth, but following his smart comment he says, " I not trying to be smart" when he is. He goes too fast when showing examples. You literally have to teach yourself. I would never take him again even though I passed his class with a "B."
GREAT TEACHER VERY HELPFUL, DOES GREAT REVIEWS. DOES HAVE BAD JOKES(LOL) I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE COMMENT BELOW ABOUT SMART MOUTH. THIS TEACHER GOES OUT OF HIS WAY TO HELP AND MAKE YOU UNDERSTAND GREAT TEACHER ALL AROUND I WOULD TAKE HIM AGAIN!! AND RECOMMEND ANY TO TAKE HIM EVEN IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH MATH!! GO GOTTLIEB!!
There were a lot of things that I didn't like about having him as my teacher. He may have a disability which causes him to constantly rock back and forth but it is still very distracting. He tells jokes every two minutes and waits forever for someone to laugh. He has a boring teaching method. He doesn't spend enough time on the harder chapters.
Keeps class interesting. Silly jokes, very interested in his students learning and understanding the subject. Awesome Professor!
If math is one of your sorer subjects i recommend that you stay away from this teacher. He teaches way to fast, almost feels like he's rushing to the next lesson, he is hard to comprehend and his examples are horrible. I basically had to go home after class and teach myself!!!
Bad. I have been cursed, it feels, by this teacher with no teaching skill. Nice guy, no problem with HIM, but his teaching ability is something of concern. I read how people like his methods and cannot imagine the level of translations they must have mastered beforehand. He is extremely unclear, so much that you become lost in a hell of math. NO.
Great prof! Can go a bit quick at times but will schedule time outside of class to work with you if need be. He geniunely wants you to understand and do well. Final is comprehensive but very fair and straight-forward. His social stills are rough around the edges but he's a nice guy and great professor. I recommend him.
Great Professor ! If you are mathematically challenged, I would recommend taking his class. Prof Gottlieb does burp, pass gass and tell corny jokes but who doesn't. I think it's hillarious. Honestly, this instructor is compassionate about math and really knows his stuff!
I love this guy! His jokes are terrible! Hey you have to lighten the mood when you are teaching this subject. He is not easy. I partnered up with a study buddy and put in tons of HW hours and still got a B. Point is he is easy to understand. You can see him at the ARC too so you can get help from the man himself. Recommended for all math classes!
He's really nice and helpful. He goes a bit fast in lectures. Will let you use notes and handouts on every test. Practice tests are the same as the actual test, only numbers are changed. On final will let you use almost everything. Hard not to get at least a B. Take him!
Deciding to take Mr. Gottlieb for Calculus for Summer was the best decision I made. He is a little off the wall, but when it comes to what he expects from you as a student, he is very clear about his expectations. He gives you a review before each test and the tests are pretty much the same. Do the Homework & the reviews, and you will do well.
Yes, he has some quirks about him, but in general he did a great job. I was sort of upset that he goes out of his way to accomidate late arrivals or those that were absent for tests. If you do the homework, attend class and pay attention to his pretest reviews, a passing grade should be no problem.
Mr. Gotlieb is by far the most genuine and passionate instructor I have ever taken. When he asks if everyone understands, he means it. Furthermore, how many teachers do you know that will meet anywhere that is good for you, on weekends, holidays, etc. PHENOMENAL!
FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY! Not his jokes but the fact that No one laughs and he still tells them. GREAAT guy a little strange but i was actually sad the last class. Dont have to do homework! so math book is only needed if you need to refer to it say you dont take notes. GREAT guy!
I liked this professor. He gives you handouts that you can use on each test and a handwritten page of notes. When he gives your test back you can correct your wrong answers and turn it back in to recieve half credit!! We were a little behind so the last test, we got to take the test home and worked on it. I would recommend him to anyone
i had prof.G for both Stats and 1033. Until i took Davidson, he was my favorite math teacher. He cares tremendously for his students and their grades.does everything in his power to make himself available for help/tutoring.he is kind of socially awkward but i think he knows that.overall great teacher. highly recommended.
He is nice, but he grades very harshly. I think you're allowed to regrade your paper because he must have some sort of an idea of the way he grades it. Had a little trouble understanding him, but it is true, he is very nice and genuine.
Love Professor Gottlieb! I have taken him for Applied Calc and now for STATS and just have to say that I appreciate his teaching style and how he makes himself available to you if you need it. There are NO suprises on his tests as he gives out a study guide before hand. Does a thorough review before each test. My favorite Math teacher by far!
Just awesome teacher. I hated Match, he made it easy. His classes should be Mat00-for Dummies.
Highly recommend this teacher. His reviews are the same as his exam, he dosen't pull tricky problems on the exam. Just study your reviews well. Great Teacher, ok comedian.
Nice guy. Tells a lot of silly jokes. He is hard to understand sometimes.
Took this instructor because of all the great comments...BIG MISTAKE! He jumps around, hes very hard to follow only allows 2 hw questions per section so if you dont get it oh well! And as for any notes...HA you cant read his writing AT ALL! DONT TAKE HIM!
He is not the easiest, however, if you want an A you can get it. You are allowed a one page of hand written notes on each test and if you dont do well on the test, you can correct what you got wrong, to get half of the points. There is no reason not to do well in this class. I did not like his teaching style and he has VERY BAD HANDWRITING.
I found that he is incompatant, disorganized, can't write, does not know how to use angel website, e-mailed twice during the semester and never got a reply in person or e-mail. One or two questions on homework or test problems for the whole class. A student (girl)& me comparing notes after test and saw that he would take points from me and not her
Most people who say he's incompetent, are most likely incompetent themselves. He will repeat himself as many times as you need, if you think hes going too slow or too fast he'll do either if you ask him. He has the corniest jokes on the face of this planet but he always means well. He will even go and tutor on sundays.
I found him extremely helpful. Gives excellent reviews before the tests. If you have questions, come to his office and he will spend a lot of time with you explaining and telling jokes. I like him!
Really explains things and welcomes questions. He tells a lot of corny jokes and waits for you to laugh at them and when you don?t laugh his comment is ?ok I won?t quit my day job??I heard that over 50 time! He is a little disorganized and doesn?t do computers well but still is a great teacher and is an easy A! After tests he allows you to fix and
Most AMAZING math teacher I have EVER had! I hated math all my live.... until Prof. Gottlieb! Just wish I had him as a teacher when I started learning math. I think I would actually have enjoyed!
He's got a lot of personal quirks that if you can get over will make this a good class. I don't remember using the book very much, check it out from the ARC or share with a friend. His reviews are almost exactly like his tests, and allows a reference page on test day. The subject is a little dry but his corny jokes lighten the mood.
Very quirky and a bit absent minded. Other wise this man is a great teacher. Tells corny terrible jokes that you can't help but laugh at. PAYING ATTENTION IS KEY. his reviews are exactly the same as the test just different wording/numbers used. gives take homes and allows you to do test corrections for half credit. overall good teacher. liked him
What a wonderful professor! Math is not my strongest subject; however, with the teaching style this professor provided and his passion to help his students understand it - I made an A????!! He is one of the best professors SCF has - I am only disappointed that he will not be teaching Col. Alg. in the Fall 2011.
Easy Easy Easy. Terrible handwriting, but if you actually take interest and ask, he will tell you what he wrote and will correct it. He makes sure you understand the material and always asks if everyone is following. If you don't like him it's because you'd prefer not speaking up. He's a great teacher and a very very cheesy guy. I recommend him.
He is so corny and knows it!! I have a few minor issues with him but nothing major, just quirks. I am thinking about taking him again actually only beacuse of his fairness with retakes, homework and exams. Even if you are not good in math, he gives you alot of opportunities to make up for it with extra credit
One of my favorite professors ever!! If you don't understand something he will take time out of his schedule to help you. His tests are easy if you pay attention in class. The questions come right from the notes. If you make a bad grade on the test, you can make corrections to raise your score. Corny jokes but very nice.
Will explain things 100 times if you need him to. That's good if your slow in math. If you're not, it gives you time to do hoomework in class. I did all of my homework in class. But he makes everything really easy, let's you correct test and hand them back in. Goes out of his way to help you. Corny, unfunny jokes, but that in itself is funny.
Extremely nice guy! Takes his job very seriously and goes out of his way to help you!
Awesome.. Teaches you how to calculate by hand and the calculator. I took the class over the summer along with A&P, ENC 1102, and AMH II. Did not do homework but understood everything in the class. Easy A. Made A's on all test and 201 on final. 10 bonus but I'm 98% sure I only got one bonus correct.
Professor Gottlieb is one of my best math teacher. He is very reasonable. He will take time to explain whatever you need help with. The best part about it, he is always available on Sundays in the ARC to help students.Overall, he is a genius in math. Take him as long as you willing to do your work and not take advantage of his redo policy on test.
Prof. Gottlieb is the greatest. Math is not easy for me, but he made me good at it. Got an A, which required some work but you can do it. He tells jokes and keeps it from being boring and will help any student. He is the best teacher I've had at SCF in any subject. He tells you exactly what you need to know for all tests. Gottlieb rocks!
The best professor I have had! I recommend him to everyone. He is very helpful and always tries to make class fun by telling his corny jokes! :)
Professor Gottleib is always willing to help his students understand the material. If you stay current with your work this class is REALLY easy.
He does his best, but I dont consider his class a easy grade. You have to work for your grade like you should in all classes.
intermediate math is hard but he is a great teacher in the sense that he is very nice and patient, wants students to pass, does math the hard way at times for me personally but between him and arc you should have a good time passing. I think he is a good teacher and likes what he does :) highly recommended..
Wonderful teacher. This is my second time taking him. He makes math seem like learning the alphabet. If you have trouble with Math concepts, I would take him. He is very dedicated with helping students, especially outside of class time!
Great professor. Is always available to help. Show up for class, do your homework and you will do fine. He tries to make the course interesting. Tells some very corney jokes and paces back and forth during lecture, but still a GREAT PROFESSOR!
Professor is extremely sloww at grading papers and returning them. His handwriting is horrible, he takes a long time explaining things to students which slows him down. Lets not forget about his corny jokes.. make time go by slowww
Mr Gottlieb was very good at explaining things. He also gives half credit for turning in quizzes and tests as redos, which helped me pass his class. He isn't easy, but he always available and will always explain when needed. Terrible handwriting and corny jokes, but does his job very well. I would definatly take him again!
Great professor. Besides his corny jokes he's an awesome teacher. He's always willing to help the students... sometimes he goes to fast and his hand writing is not the best, but overall, he's one of the best math teachers I've had.
What a wonderful teacher. He is very helpful and easy to understand. One of my favorites.
I took 8 week class. A massive amount of work to be completed and all extremely time consuming. Very hard to retain such diffrent info in small amount of time but the review is exactl like test. No surprises. Not very clear but makes himself full available. The review and notes keeps your A
I also took him for the 8-week stats. It was an overwhelming amount of work, and I'm no stranger to shortened classes! This teacher was great. I would not have gotten an A if it weren't for his awesome reviews before every test. He also drops the lowest grade and replaces it with your final. This is like no other math you've ever had, so take him!
I took 8 week class, tons of work to do and hard to understand with fast pace, boring teaching style and unclear but awsome reviews, use notes on test and final! made it worth the stress. Got all a's use review question samples on notes.
Great teacher, difficult material. Has great reviews and allowed to use 1 page of handwritten notes on test. As long as you're smart about writing out the questions from the review onto the handwritten notes, you'll do fine on the test. He has take home tests with each test but I found those the hardest because no reviews for those. Great teacher.
Professor Gottlieb is the best statistics teacher. He was recommended to me by another student and I am so glad. Highly recommend taking his class.
I got a B but, don’t believe the hype. If you prefer a professor very boring teaching style, late a lot, late grader, horrific jokes, extremely disorganized, handwriting is like DNA or binary codes-Guess grade. takes non-federal religious days off, ton of HW worth 5 percent, ask students to meet at Books A Million for help. Than go for it.
Handwriting is very unreadable, period. Grades every single problem of your HW so dosn’t try to wing it for credit. The 1st professor to not give all of my work back. I guess it’s OK if you are really good at tests and final exams.
Great Professor. He is always willing to help. He is at the ARC every sunday to go over anything you like. He gives great reviews right before the Test. Study the reviews and you will do great He gives a few projects but they are not rocket science and you can work with other students on them. The first class seems intimidating, but stick with it
OK teacher. He is just unorganized and handwriting is bad. He is available in the ARC like other better tutors are, the syllabus is not very clear. He is OK. Not the most organized or clear because of handwriting and too much HW. OK teacher, not outstanding.
He is willing to help. I passed with the help of the ARC. Could definitely use help on handwriting and it is a shame that he refuses to return e-mails from any place besides Angel, then won't return them. A odd teacher.
He is alright. Statistics is not a easy subject. It would help the students out much if he could find a way to be on time and get the grades out faster. He is OK. :-) I am just glad this 1 is over.
All in all he is good. TIP-Spends too much time checking every single problem from load of HW- that makes Test, Exam and projects very late. Another tip-Class starts out smooth then like 3 projects, HW and Test and Final in last month. He is very willing to help though.
He has pros and cons, but overall he is the best Stats Professor at SCF maybe West Florida. He seems to love numbers.
Excellent teacher. Is will to meet with students anytime they need help. He is always available at the ARC on Sundays. You are allowed to use 1 page notes for tests. One of the BEST math professors at SCF! A little "eccentric" and hard of hearing...but loves math and loves teaching.
He is possibly the most leniant teacher at SCF. He allows the use of cheat sheets and 1 page of notes on each exam. His reviews are almost identical to the test and he cares about each and every student. Take him! You WILL pass with an A
Took him for the 8 week accelerated class. Absolutely great! I was worried but it was fine. The last two weeks were rough but it is totally do-able. He is a bit quirky, but super cute. Definitely take him!
Genuine good guy, must take!
caring teacher, you will learn stat effortlessly. Makes sure everyone understands before moving on. A bit weird, but very good!
Do not pass up the chance to take him for Stat! Definitely the BEST teacher. He is quite a character but who cares its college. Easy easy easy A with minimal effort, however you def do not want to miss class if its an accelerated course
If they allowed him to teach college algebra the students success rate would be much higher. Professor Gottlieb is one of the few who care for his students success. Would never have gotten through math without him. Awesome teacher!
Can't say enough good things about this professor. Absolutely wonderful, always makes himself available to help struggling students succeed. If I could take him for all my math classes I would likely look foward to takeing math in general.
Very quirky... makes bad jokes and he rocks.... alot! But you know what he is genuine and truly wants everyone to succeed. He goes above and beyond to help students and is always in the ARC to help... I suggest him to anyone.
This was one of the most genuine teachers I have ever had. Loved this class even though I *USED TO* hate Stats. He's a great teacher and really helps his students. Take this class. You will not get a better opportunity than this. Do get the book. You must do the hw but if you keep up with it, you will be fine.
He is one of the most helpful professor's I have yet to have at SCF. He took longer to grade tests and wasn't very good about putting grades on Angel but other than that.. great! He will meet you at the ARC on weekends & let you "correct" your test's & quizzes for a better grade. He also let you turn in homework late & was always very helpful.
By far the best teacher at scf, he is caring and wants all students to succeed in life. I would recommend this professor to all students that do not like math. He will take his time to go over most problems until you understand... Great professor!
REVIEWS=TESTS. Which is awesome because you can't fail! You would be crazy to take stats with anyone else! He moves a lot in class, but he will make an effort to make you laugh! He is great!
Loved Mr. Gottlieb... Very escentric, makes horrible jokes and when he says he rocks he means it but he cares so much about his students and I was so grateful to him. I am horrible at math and I got an A in his class. Take him for sure you wont be disappointed and when you sneeze he will always offer you a tissue so be prepared lol
He was a decent teacher, but I got really sick & still kept up with the work. He was not very accomadating when I was sick & did not help much when it was needed. Overall, he's not a bad professor but if you need anything extra then I don't reccommend him.
He is a great teacher. He really tries to help you understand the material. He cares about his students. He corny jokes are sometimes funny. He is understanding and passionate about his work.
Like some have mentioned he is a little quirky but will go out of his way to help you understand. I struggled with the concepts and was still able to pull off an A. Reviews are great and helped me to do good on tests. If you want an A take this teacher. I took the 8 week condensed class, it was hard but worth it in the end.
was very helpful professor always giving you the extra to understand he taught me at HCCSOUTHSHORE
Great teacher! MUST TAKE IF YOU HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY! His reviews are exact replicas of the test with different numbers. He also has projects that you do which are really easy. You can't go wrong with him. Just be prepared for A LOT of corny jokes!
AWESOME instructor, knows his material & super easy to talk to with any issues of not understanding something, he WILL find a way! He will do a review before exams and let you fix the problems once returned back to you to fix and get half credits on those missed. Just be on time & try not to leave early unless you otherwise notify him in advance!
I have never been so frustrated with a professor. Doesn't answer any emails ever but expects you to check Angel every day and have things completed that he posted the night before class. Completely unhelpful unless you can come to the arc on Sunday, if you can't your screwed cause he wont help you before class or via email. RUN FROM THIS CLASS.
Wonderful professor! He will go out of his way to help. He is very approachable and is in the ARC as a tutor. Without him, I do not think I could have finished all my math requirements!
He was AMAZING. I struggle in math and he was always willing to help anyone and everyone if we didn't understand. Would even meet at different class periods or even go out of his way to meet up with students at a local library. He makes really corny jokes but they are funny. USE YOUR TEXTBOOK. Reviews are basically your test only slightly altered.
Overall, Professor Gottlieb was a very good professor & helpful! He was extremely patient with the class & wants you to get the material! He continuously asks before moving on if there are any questions. Don't expect fast test grades, but do expect awesome reviews! They were so helpful! This was not my favorite subject, but I got an A!
Gottlieb was a great teacher. He is very fair with his grading. Would take again for sure.
Get the my math lab not the book
One of the easiest math teachers at SCF. Took this class in an 8 week period. Every test he allows you a piece of scratch paper to write whatever you want on it for use on the test. Do the reviews, which are identical to the test, and you will pass every single one. Some homework is scattered here and there with a project but nothing to bad.
One of the best professors I've had at SCF! If you study the review material, you will do great in the class. Took this class in Summer C-steady, but doable pace. Prof. Gottlieb made Statistics understandable. He gives you a choice of doing the homework using the hardback textbook, or online. Kudos to all the tutors in the ARC too-very helpful!
Great teacher, explains things well and clear! Homework does not weight that much on your grade but exams do! Reviews are pretty much similar to the actual class exam. He is there for you if you need help. get ready for lame jokes but at least he tries!
I enjoyed this class. His tests are good. Great instructor and there to help in ARC every Sunday. You do have projects which is just homework on top of regular homework. If you do well on each test, then homework wont hurt you if you don't do all of it. I took this class in 8 weeks I enjoyed Dr. Gottlieb and that he lets you use notes on the test.
Loved Prof Gottlieb, but taking his 8 week class during a stacked semester was very foolish. This is an easy class but the amount of homework you have to do here is insane. I was turning in 6-7 pages a week of redundant and unhelpful material. My grade slipped to a C. I retook at USF SRQ and my final grade was a very very easy 99.4% overall.
All the homework given was paper not on mymathlab, each semester is different. He is able to be at the ARC to tutor even on Sundays.
He's very helpful and understanding. He has two hearing aids so you have to speak loud when asking a question but it's not bad. He's understanding when you can't come to class but just likes to know instead of just not telling him anything. I took the 8week so if you miss one class you'll fall behind. He grades all homework and it's a moderate amt.
This professor is not a very good professor in my opinion. He tells bad jokes which gets kind of annoying after a while. He will literally stop in the middle of a lession to catch up someone who came in late. He doesn't explain things very well, if you ask questions, chances are you will become more confused when he tries to explain it to you.
LIBERAL ARTS MATH-Professor Gottlieb is helpful, and concise. Although he tends to rush through chapters, the study guides for the exams are nearly identical. The exams are never overly challenging, and usually contain 2 questions per section, per chapter. Professor Gottlieb is a great teacher and I look forward to taking him for Statistics!
Easy A, He has examples of the tests but the test does have different numbers but they are almost identical and very helpful. You are allowed one page of notes during the test. I wrote as much as possible which helped me pass his class.
Good teacher knows his stuff. My only complaint is that he never posted any grades during the entire course and only found out my grade when the school posted them on transcript. If you do the work you'll pass but if you miss assignments youll never know your grade and what you need to pass.
He's really nice but doesn't know how to use canvas so he never posts grades or emails you back.
Professor Gottlieb is a great instructor, he explains things very well, before he goes into another subject he makes sure everyone's on the same page. He's always "trying" to tell jokes. Sad note, he has bad hearing.
I took Professor Gottlieb for Stats this past Fall. The study guides for the exams are clear and concise plus on top of that he allows you to bring a formula sheet and your own single page of handwritten notes! He is not setting you up to fail so put in the effort!! Amazing professor 10/10
Professor Gottlieb is the best math teacher I've ever had. If you get below a C on a test he let's you retake it. He is very outgoing answering questions during class and doesn't mind repeating material. He tells cheesy jokes but is a great teacher he really wants you to pass, is always available at the ARC.
He's a good professor, he just moves very fast and has sloppy hand writing, so it's hard to take notes. Also, he doesn't freehand notes - he copies the book basically. Which I don't prefer. He doesn't post grades online. You can either do HW via textbook or mymathlab. He does care for his students and is there to help, if needed.
The instructor is a nice guy. He is definitely good at explaining things. However because he does not use canvas, and does not return test or other graded coursework, you have to bug him to see where you are in the class. Also I have had no luck in getting any sort of response from any emails that I have sent him and I have sent a few. Unorganized!
He has jokes for days! This professor has a sense of humor and knows his stuff
He's a really nice guy who clearly has a lot of passion for his subject, but he's hard to get ahold of and fails to explain things appropriate to the level he is teaching. Also, he assumes that you already know a lot of the material so he doesn't really go over some things. If you haven't seen this kind of material before, you're screwed.
Love this teacher. I've never had an easy time understanding math and this professor makes it clear and simple to understand. Now it makes sense! Had a D before his class completed his class with an A. First A in math I've ever had.
Dont even think to take his class. He is going very fast with material, read slide show instead give more examples. He is the worst math teacher I ever had. Half of my class dropped after a month. Please take someone else.
Prof Gottlieb wants you to do well in his class, you have to show up and participate. Do the projects and take the exams, but he is in the ARC every Sunday or he'll be at Books A Million if the ARC is closed on holidays. He tells bad jokes, he is very self depreciating, easily admits mistakes and often gives additional time. He cares.
I really liked taking Professor Gottlieb this semester. Hes funny and is clear in the grading portion of the class. His instruction is good but he works fast. My only complaint would be his handwriting which even he will tell you is hard to read some times. He also does not post grades on Canvas so dont expect to know your grade all semester.
Very caring guy who knows what he is teaching. Study the study guides and you can do great on the tests. He does not know how to use canvas so you have to bug him to know how you are doing in the class. Homework is either MyMathLab or written, and with the written he just skims over to make sure you attempted. Take this professor!!
Rushes through lectures to stay on schedule with the syllabus. Will give out lots of homework and projects but doesn't return them, graded, in a timely manner. Doesn't know how to use CANVAS so grades are never posted. Will answer homework questions but not for very long. Doesn't offer alternative explanations outside of textbook. Very DRY humor.
This course was by far the most exciting math credit Ive taken at HCC. Gottlieb made it very interesting. He is thorough and helpful. You are able to get great help during lectures ONLY if ask WHEN youre not clear. It is up to you to be honest about your understanding. This is not an easy A, however its attainable. Pay attention, Hes great!
This professor is just a really nice but super awkward dude. He tends to read from the power point and most of his lecture comes right out of the text book. The reviews are exactly like the test and he goes over them the class before. He's hard of hearing and says corny jokes but all around he's a great guy who just wants his students to do well.
Corny teacher, tries to be funny. Home is easy but a lot of it. study guides are the basically the test, just different numbers
A lot of homework for a small portion of your grade. Study guides are EXACTLY like the tests with different numbers/scenarios. You also get to print out cheat sheets/calculator references for the tests. Prof. is very loud due to being hard of hearing which gave me a lot of anxiety, so beware of that. Otherwise he is nice and will work with you.
This teacher is amazing. He really cares and goes above and beyond to make himself available to help even on weekends. So far every test I have taken has had bonus points and his reviews are exactly set up like the tests. I would highly recommend taking him.
Great Professor, class was very helpful. Attendance is necessary to pass this class. Do all the projects and homework and in turn it will help you pass the tests. Slow grader. Would definitely take his class again.
Super nice guy, he makes the subject a little bit more bearable if you're not the best with math. Very clear grading criteria. A lot is explained and worked out in lectures so I highly suggest not skipping if you're bad at math. Stick to doing all the homework and doing the test reviews and you'll be solid.
Great teacher! Highly recommend taking him, always willing to help you if you have any questions. Some homeworks are long but do help. he gives the option to do mathlab or paper. test reviews are very similar to the test.
I took Professor Gottlieb for my last credit that I needed before graduation. Completely online course with very little help from him. I recieved a 82% on my final which is 25% of your grade and it brought me up to a 69.4% and he would not allow me to do anything to pass the class so I could graduate and move onto USF to finish my college degree.
I didn't do any hw all year and got a 95 in the class. He lets you use calculator sheets on the tests which pretty much show you how to do the problems if you understand them. He has a lot of opportunities for extra credit throughout the semester and is always open to talking about the assignments.
Mr. Gottlieb is unique, but a good teacher. Spends lots of time trying to make sure you know the subject. Can be wishy washy with due dates and always bends over backwards to give you the benefit of doubt. His jokes are horrible, but he tries to make Math less boring.
He always makes sure everyone understands before moving onto the next section. Always answered any questions I had through email right away. Always offers extra credit on tests and projects.
Overall Mr.Gottlieb is a caring professor who wants his students to succeed. He will take time to review the material with you one on one and provides extra credit for those who need it. Homework is very important and it covers much of the material on the exams. It is important to review the homework and understand the concepts being applied.
While I struggle with math, I was very fortunate to have a professor like Mr. Gottlieb. He is caring and respectful and is always willing to help students understand the material, go slower, repeat himself, and rewrite his writing, you just need to voice it. He makes silly dad jokes, he's kinda like Grunkle Ford from Gravity Falls.
I took Gottlieb for mathematical thinking online and he was great! The content is easy and he definitely wants you to pass with a good grade. Only con is he sometimes assigned extra stuff mid-week and then wanted it at the end of that week so I'd rush to get it done for him to extend due dates anyways (not a huge deal but just a little annoying).
He was great. I'm not good at math. And you know college math isn't easy. He's very good at teaching. You just have to pay attention in class. I was on my phone for a min and next thing I know I got lost and didn't understand the lesson. So make sure you pay attention he also asks if you neeed more help or more lecture and he will gladly do it!
TBH JUST STUDY THE REVIEWS !! He will post the study guide a few days before taking the actual Test, Study It like crazy!! ALL THE QUESTIONS ARE EITHER THE EXACT SAME OR SIMILAR! TO THE TEST!!! Hardly did any homework lowest test was a 92% EASY A!!! wished there were more teachers like him!
Overall, a great professor, he really wants you to pass and tries to give you every resource to succeed in the class. He'll answer all your questions until you understand the material. The tests are identical to the study guides, use that to your advantage, and you'll do just fine.
