This professor is great. She is amazing and understands her students. She responds quick when you email her. I totally recommend her class to anyone. It is not hard at all just be on top of everything and you will pass.

Professor Irvin is amazing. She was very attentive. I took her online class. It was very easy to me. We did two signature assignments which was very easy. Two speeches one was a group project which was very easy and the other one you did on your own. We had three quizzes that if you did your assignments was easy. I would definitely take her again.

I took her for the fall semester and overall was probably my easiest class. They are two major speeches one group/1 individual. If you just keep up with the projects, discussion boards, and a few quizzes you should pass with at least an A. You can finish the work for the week in a day. Project is easy as well if you stay ahead.

Professor Irvin's syllabus is very clear on how to obtain a good grade in her online class. Follow the directions, turn items in on time, and participate to earn an A. She also makes the class very entertaining unlike any other online courses.

It was an enjoyable class because the professor was very organized and assignments were easy to understand and fairly pretty easy to complete. I took her online and she replies to any question you may have fast. There are 2 main projects in the class, one is a solo speech and the other is with a group. She offers extra credit as well.

Textbook is mainly used for your discussion boards. There's a DB once a week, TED talk quizzes about once a month and 4 quizzes. All super easy and she opens multiple weeks up at once to get ahead. Easily could've been taken as a winter mini.

Professor Irvin made my first online class at San Jac experience educational and interesting. Her assignments aren't boring, they are challenging and fun.

I was scared because I im a face to face type of person, and also this was a 5 week course, But the class was easy. just read all the power points, the questions for test are from the power points. She gives examples of all the work you have to do. I really recommend this professor.

The course I took with her was only a month long summer course. This is a fast paced course obviously, so taking it with other classes could be challenging. The major projects in this class are video oriented because it is a speech class. You will work for the grade. I thought it would be super easy, but it was not as easy as I thought it would be.

I took the online 5-week mini and it was very time consuming with my other classes. If you stay on top of your work and don't procrastinate, you will be fine. Ms. Irvin cares for her students and wants to see them succeed. Although the course was online she provided examples so her students could follow/look off of. She is overall a great teacher.

Professor Irvin is a very excellent teacher. She explains each assignment very well and the calendar she provides is very helpful. You have to actually read and do the work in order to do the assignments or else you will receive low grades.

Took the online class, full semester, super easy, I purchased the book from eBay the pdf version, very convenient if your managing your money. Only 3 exams, 1 project, 3 chapter quizzes but a-lot of discussion board assignments.

When taking online class you have many questions and feel unsure but with Professor Irvin make sit easy to follow, safe environment, assignments self explanatory, answers emails very quickly. Textbooks are optional. Blackboard is organized and easy to follow and get ahead. Recommend for sure to take it!

I took Professor Irvin for a summer 5 week class this month. It was much easier than what I had expected. This class consist of 3 speeches, 3 exams, and a lot of discussion posts. What I did not like was the group project but other than that she is well at responding really fast to emails. Her grading is really reasonable just do your work .

I thought she did a good job, a few times I messed up and did not read instructions fully, and she still gave me an A despite my missing half of the assignment.

Really organized work, and clear understanding. Took this course online during the summer due to the COVID situation, sadly I was not able to meet her in person. Professor Irvin has her work laid out so where you have enough time to complete your assignment and not severely stress. She is a tough grader but for me this motivates me to work harder to achieve. I think Professor Irvin did a wonderful job at helping me better understand speech, and how to use it in my professional career. This class was a quick one, but not as hard as you'd expect. You definitely can't slack as she's strict on due dates, but gives a good amount of time a resources to complete necessary projects!

I took Professor Irvin for the summer 5 week mini and it went by fast. Assignments are easy, as long as you do them you'll get a good grade. There is a group project but it is not difficult.

I am taking her during a pandemic, and as most of us know this class is better taken face to face. But although the circumstances she made the class as entertaining as possible she was also very understanding. Just do your work on time and pay attention as to what needs to be turned in a weekly basis and you will be fine!

He has a just go with it vibe. Only thing is, if you miss an assignment she absolutely wont let you make it up. No matter the situation.

She gives you fairly easy work and gives you a lot of time to do your work. She is also very fun but only thing is that she does not accept late work because she gives you all week to do it.

This class would be 10 times more enjoyable in a classroom rather than online because of Covid restrictions but overall a very easy class.

There are 3 main speeches which you have to record videos. Just follow the instructions and her examples. You should not have any issue with this class.

If it was not for COVID-19, I feel that this course would have been much more enjoyable in person, but despite this, it was a delightful and easy course! The lectures were helpful, and the instructions for assignments were clear. If you do your work on time, you should be alright!

She is super nice and understanding. There are 2-3 assignments to do each week along with some light reading. There are also four projects that do follow a certain format, but you are given a lot of freedom to choose your own topic and how you want to do each one. She is a tough grader on the projects, but it is possible to get an A if you try!

Professor Irvin is a solid choice when choosing an online speech (SPEC 1315-319) class at SJC South. She does not grade hard, but there is no flexibility in late work. I find it common practice that most professors accept late work with a letter grade reduction each day. She does not do thissomething to keep in mind.

I took Speech 1315 online due to the recent adjustment we all had to make. I do not regret taking speech online as it was really easy! I was happy to do the assignments at my own pace. This class will push your understanding and self-development of Public Speaking. Weekly discussion/reading assignments (25pgs), along with weekly progress assignments on your three video speeches over the semester. She is very quick to answer questions, or do a one-on-one discussion if you need any help. Be aware, late assignments not accepted.

My experience with my professor was fantastic. whenever I'm doing my outlines she always tells me the things I need to work on and she always helps me a lot. I have been really nervous to start on public speech and not really sure if I was going to pass it but my professor made me feel more comfortable and confident about me presenting.

Ms. Irvin was one of the better professors I've had because she made sure you knew when things were due and was always keeping you interested in class. Assignments were really straightforward and easy to understand as long as you kept up in the textbook somewhat. Easily a 5/5 in terms of classes.

Her course is great!!! You download the calendar and you won't miss a thing. She hits you with the timely announcements. Get the online book and put in the work. You will do well. I wish I could take her again.

This class was great. I learned without feeling overwhelmed and like I couldn't keep up. I wish we had been able to meet in person, but, Professor Irvin's assignments and coursework were well presented online and I did not feel like I was at a disadvantage because of not going to a physical classroom.

I think Deshonia Irvin is an angel sent from heaven. I had a heavy course load and this class was the breath of fresh air I needed. Blackboard is very organized with a detailed course calendar. It may be an online class be you are required to be involved in weekly discussion boards that kind of gives the online course an in person classroom vibe. I have a lot of trouble with speech but had a way easier time with professor Irvin than I thought I would. Her calendar is well organized and shows when every assignment is due. She also gives clear instructions for assignments and provides good feedback. Exams are easy as long as you keep up with the textbook chapters and the powerpoints.

I took Interpersonal Communication (SPCH 1318). Professor Irvin is overall an awesome professor. We received a calendar at the beginning of the semester that was easy to follow. All of her expectations were on that calendar (due dates, assignments, etc). This class will not take up all of your time. Just do the assignments and you will pass.

Professor Irvin really is one of a kind. In her lectures she is very outgoing and they feel more like a conversation rather than your regular lecture. She doesn't give a heavy workload and if you stay on track with your work, this class will be a piece of cake.

For all 3 presentation (Informative, Persuasive and Demonstration), She gave us examples on how to present them and gave us feedback. She gave us ppts for each topic we studied. If you study the material she provides, you will pass the tests. Most weeks there will be a discussion to answer which are easy to answer. I really enjoyed this class.

You can expect to have a new friend when the semester is over because she treats you like her equal and not your authorities figure, which is why her students respect her.
