I am a lazy genius, and this class baffled me. My high school physics class was hard compared to the material taught in this class, however, my grade in this class didn't reflect the easiness of the material. Saludes has been one of the most influential instructors I have had. The people who fail this class do so because they either do not feel like thinking, or are looking for an easy A. The whole point of his style is to prepare students for the real world. If you are easily offended, beware; this is where you begin to learn that life is not fair.

If you want to be prepared to transfer to engineering/physics at a university, then this is the class for you. If you are looking for an easy A, don't take it. That being said, it isn't at all impossible to get a good grade. He basically tells you exactly what will be on the tests. You just have to put in the hours of study. An A/B is very doable.

Don't let his personality bother you. He is an excellent prof to prepare you for universities. Look over the notes, do the problems in the book he recommends, and you'll get an A. He's very helpful when you ask but don't mention old tests. I worked 30 hours a week, took 5 classes, studied the night before tests and made B's.

If you want to get on his bad side, ask him to solve problems from his old exams (which are out there, I'm sure SOMEONE will have the pdf). Prior to his class I intended on majoring Civil Eng, however he inspired me to go for Electrical. Great teacher, can be a bit tough on grading. Doesn't give below a 50 on exams because they are your only grade.

I have passed phy1 & 2 with A's and now moved on to USF. I can tell you one thing for sure; if you pass on the chance to take Physics with Saludes because you want an easy ride, you are not serious about your career. Especially if you are looking to be an engineer. An easy A here will leave you completely stranded after you transfer.

These ratings do not give Saludes justice as he is a great professor but not in the typical way. He is extremely smart, expects you to be competent, and funny (at times a little welcomely inappropriate). Yet he is tough and does not give any slack and due to his personality he is a not very approachable at first. With the good and bad i recommend.

Professor Saludes is a great lecturer who really challenges you. However, his lectures are very interesting and he does a nice job tying the physics concepts to engineering applications. If you take good notes, review them, and do a good amount of the problems he recommends you to do, you should easily get an A or high B in his class.
