I thought she was a informative teacher. Though she taught at a fast pace, she answered questions. She e-mails the notes for the sections you are going to be covering and works everything out on the board. This class is easy if you pay attention!

She is very organized, she emails you the notes which makes it asy to go back and review things, you get extra credit at end of class if you have a clean organized notebook with attempted bookwork thats not required. The HW sets are almost identical to the tests. Do the webwork.She is one of the best math teachers I've had.

There were many times that the class actually corrected her on her math. Awful if you actually want to learn something. All she does is examples on the board. Attendance is very strict.

Notes are nice, however the way she teaches them is useless. I learned more from classmates. Also very rude and inconsiderate to students, wont respond to emails or questions. Tests have nothing to do with anything on HW. Attendance is VERY strict.

She is a tough teacher so if you plan to goof off do not take her class as she pays attention to those who care to learn. I love her and would take her for every math I have. She even came to meet with our class study group on Sunday. Dedicated to helping you learn if you want to learn. Recommend for serious students not kids playing around.

Teacher is the worst teacher i have ever had, she yells at you for not asking questions and then the next week will yell at you for asking questions. She makes mistakes all the time. Do NOT take her if u need good one on one help. she teaches fast and doesnt even let you figure out the answer before she gives it to you. crazy psycho!

Nice teacher, although she is a little confusing at times. Can get some problems wrong so students would have to end up catching it. Attendance is strict. You do get homework sets and as long as you do those, the tests should be easy. She does goes over those day before test, so that's helpful. Would probably take a different class though.

I have found her teaching style easy to follow. I have shared my notes with students taking the class with other instructors and they found it helpful also. This class requires work to do well. She is very cut and dry. Do not take her class if you want to slack off or are looking for a teacher that has a personality in class

She is a very good teacher! She is very helpful outside of class - if something happens and you have to miss a test for a good reason, she will def. work with you if you have been a good student all along. Gives homework sets which are EXACTLY the test, just different numbers. EASY A if you understand homework sets.

Math is not easy for me at all. However, with her help, it became a little easier. I pulled off an A in the class because she is so often willing to help. Do not get behind in the class or your grade will suffer. Go to the review session for the final. Go to her for help and you will do fine.

She was rude and she was just a bad teacher. She wouldn't answer questions well and made SEVERAL careless mistakes every single day in class. I had already taken this class in high school and did not do well because of her.

She is a very nice and organized prof! If you pay attention, you WILL understand the material. There's a lot of work to do in this class (web work, homework), but this is the best way to prepare yourself for the tests and final.

Overall, she is an okay teacher. She is able to explain concepts much better than my current math professor. She is, however, extremely monotone, and it is often a struggle to stay focused.

Decent enough teacher. Makes some mistakes in class while going over notes that can really get confusing. Assigns webwork that can be really helpful, and she's somewhat lenient with giving the whole class a couple extra days. Not a great teacher, but if you pay attention in class and study some, you should be fine.

This teacher thinks she is better than the class and believes if she cannot do something then no one in the class can since we're all dumb compared to her apparently. Do yourself a favor and get JOHN TAYLOR for anything and everything. He is the best math teacher at uncc and he will not waste your money and time.

Dont buy book you will never touch it. Attend class to do clicker quizes. Study Guide is similar to Test. The more you study, the better your grade. is possible, B is very possible. Print notes and fill out during class.

Not an easy A. Professor Taylor is helpful, but I would highly recommend getting a tutor. She will give you some extra credit opportunities. Homework is not too terrible. Tests are just like the homework sets. I used the book a few times to work on Webwork. Otherwise, the book is not used at all.

Dont buy the book youll never use it. Her way of teaching is very straight forward and easy to understand. i took her both semesters becasue she is awesome. DO YOUR WEBWORK and BRING YOUR CLICKER if not your grade will tank because attendance is mandatory. drops a letter grade after 5th absence

Professor Taylor knows her stuff, but she is not a good teacher. She does the problems and expects that you can understand what she is doing without explaining it. If you can, take Dr. J. Taylor's class instead. If you're going to take her class, get a good tutor!

She knows her stuff, but it's just kind of hard to catch up with her on notes. I had to rewatch her recorded videos to be able to understand what she taught in class. You don't ever use your book. I do love how her notes are very organized.

She is an excellent teacher and if you go to class and just do the webwork and her occasional paper homework you will do just fine. The paper homework she assigns right before the test is incredibly similar to the actual test she gives you and she will go over the whole homework/studyguide the class before the test. Best teacher I'ce ever had.

Phenomenal teacher! Not a professor who teaches because it’s all she can do with her major. Truly loves & is GOOD at teaching. Explains things in simple terms. 4 tests webwork, clicker ?s and a final. Gives 4 free absences. Never even opened my book. Notes on moodle. Records class on moodle. Easy to follow. NOT monotone. Mrs. Taylor makes Calc too easy. The notes that the Taylor's give out really make the class as simple as possible. You can't expect to watch her do examples and understand the material, you have to work problems every day to understand math. If you took her class and got lower than a C, thats your own fault. I definitely recommend her.

The instructor assigned work online for this course. Any questions on homework or WebWork problems were vaguely answered via email and not thoroughly explained whatsoever. It appeared she was not interested much in assisting students with solving problems. Take this instructor and online course if you are 100% sure you already know MATH 1121.

Mrs. Taylor is amazing. She makes calculus way too easy. I came into the class afraid because of all the side comments. But got an easy A. She gives lots of chances for extra credit and is very clear on teaching the material. Will go out of the way to help you. I highly recommend her or her husband!

AMAZING math teacher. I truly recommend her for anyone. I will admit she is slightly more difficult than her husband, Dr. Taylor, but where he assigns mandatory projects, Mrs. Taylor provides many extra credit opportunities. Pay attention in class, complete all the WebWork assignments, and ask questions when you need to and you'll get an A.

Great instructor, quizzes before class, homework after, reviews before tests( the test reviews are almost identical to tests). She records all lectures so you can view them online after class if you missed something.

Need to go in expecting work, Calculus will take up your life if you weren't prepared like I originally was. Before class quizzes, a lot of homework, and the test every few sections. Need a good work ethic for calculus.

Mrs. Taylor is an amazing instructor. She is very clear on what you need to do. She offers a little extra credit that is very helpful. The class is not easy though. The reason being, because Calculus II is a very tough subject. She is a great professor to have for this subject. I highly recommend her.

Mrs. Taylor is awesome. Very clear on what you need to do and very helpful. She gives a lot of helpful hints for the HW assignments and offers extra credit in the form of a formula portfolio. Calculus II is not an easy class, but she is an amazing instructor. Make sure you attend class. They are recorded if you miss.

Calculus 2 is the most useless thing you will ever need in your life. It is too much, web-work, quizzes and tests. The grader seems to not care about partial credit. Many students already withdraw, but I decided to stay. I feel bad for others that need a "C" in this class to do engineering. Desire just copies her notes onto the paper.

Amazing teacher and wants you to pass. The study guides for the exams are most of the time exactly the same as the test. There is alot of homework and it is 25% of your grade so expect to spend many hours working on that. Overall great teacher and would take again.

This is literally the worst professor I have had yet. She clearly does not care about her students and would love to see them fail. When you ask for help at the end, she will yell at you. Extremely disrespectful. I recommend John Taylor not her!

Very honest person, she's not looking to make you fail, but also not willing to cut you any slack. Good lecturer, willing to go over things for you if you ask. Four tests, the last one literally two days before the exam, which sucked, but each test has a study guide exactly like the test. DON'T BUY THE TEXT BOOK!!!! Was not used at ALL.

Desire Taylor is a pretty great professor and I think you will enjoy her if you are really wanting to learn Calculus 1&2. I personally did not like her grading system especially when it came to how she graded test reviews and test. However you can always go to her office hours and Recitation days so you can catch up on work and relearn material.

She has a comprehensive knowledge of the material she teaches, and teaches the material in a way which is not only easy to understand, but provides insight into its future applications. Professor Taylor is one of the best math professors at UNCC besides her husband Dr. Taylor. She tries to answer all your questions and gives you opportunities throughout the semester to get extra credit (just go - its worth it). Lectures are relatively boring and she uses the whole class but overall good professor.

Cal 2 is all about memorizing the formulas. So to me, this class was easy, though it had a lot of projects and online homeworks. Extra credits opportunities, class had a curve. Dr. Desire Taylor is caring and good at explaining concepts in her lectures.

This is my first semester here, but I can confidently say I will seek out her class for Calc 2. She's a very fair grader and works out each and every example while addressing any questions we may have. She's also very responsive to emails during her outlined hours (I haven't tried sending any outside of them). Absolutely recommended.

Prof. Taylor, in my opinion, is the best Calculus 1 professor. She has an honest and open grading policy and she teaches in an instantaneously understandable way even though she teaches tad fast. I would give a 10/5 to her if the chance was provided and I would honestly recommend others to take her for both Calculus 1 and 2.

Her test reviews are the test. I had her for calc one & if you did the work then it was an easy A. However I fell behind in calc 2 which made the material difficult to understand. There is a big jump from calc 1 to calc 2. IF YOU START FALLING BEHIND LIKE ALITTLE, GO GET HELP ASAP! There are no curves, like 2 extra credit opportunites. Thats it.

Great prof, miles better than my high school calc teacher. Provides notes outlines and works out each example in class. Test reviews are the exact same structure as tests, so as long as you do well on those you will do well on the tests. Lots of online out of class homework. Gives good opportunities for significant extra credit on some tests.

For Calc 2, this course is really material heavy, but she is incredible at explaining. She gives you this notes packet at the beginning of the semester that you use the entire semester and it is really helpful. 10/10 would take her again. Her tests are a little challenging, and there is a lot of WebWork problems but they are helpful.

Like every math class, there's a ton of homework. The post-section WebWork homework will be the toughest stuff you do in this class, including tests. She flies through lectures and can be condescending, if you don't understand a step or the material. Luckily, we had Panopto recordings of each class, but the school isn't funding that anymore, so gl.

I thoroughly enjoyed professor Taylor. If you're going to take a calc course at UNCC, take it with her or her husband. You learn the material without really realizing you've learned it. Lots of homework through webwork and preclass quizzes, but they're really important for understanding the material/grade boost. Tough course, but highly recommend!!

DO THE HW AND QUIZZES ASAP. Don't fall behind, and attend every class. She doesn't allow makeup for online material and won't reopen anything at the end of the semester. If you're worried about struggling, take her advice and go to the math lab to do your homework. Get explanations. Quizzes on the lessons are due before the class; don't skip them.

Even with the current state of the world and in person classes being cancelled, Desire was great for the semester. She comes across as mean but its really a facade. When classes were in person, she was really helpful in class, stopping everything to help out and individual. When we moved online, she did everything she could to help out. Recommend.

Desire is a good professor... for in person classes ONLY. She doesn't teach online classes; she just provides "mandatory" office hour sessions where she goes over webwork problems. You have to watch recorded videos, most not updated to the notebook. For instance, half of 6.5 was missing and I'm going to bomb exam 2. Take someone else for online :(

Professor Taylor teaches from a guided notebook that is quite useful as it allows you to learn before class and then ask any questions relating to Webwork while in class. She usually is pretty helpful when it comes to if you have trouble understanding something. She made Calculus understandable for me.

Great professor! For our online class when we met she allowed us to ask questions on as many hw questions as we wanted and she worked them all out. Kind of a lot of hw but as long as you stay on top of it youre good. Very kind!

I love the Taylors. If you can get one of them for calculus, you're golden. You will have to work for a good grade, but as long as you do the assignments you can definitely make an A. There is a workbook you have to get but the actual textbook she says is "required" I never used.

Its calc 2, it sucks. During COVID19 she made us come to lectures that were kinda redundant because you watch lectures from john taylor that mentions the same material. You cant skip the zoom meeting though, because she has small pop quizzes (that she basically tells you the answer to) during the zoom meetings. Also there's LOTS of lectures.

I had her for Calc 1 last semester, and I have her again this semester for Calc 2. Overall, she's a really nice person, and she explains problems that you don't understand very well. You need to make sure you have the work ethic, particularly for Calc 2, since it's a lot of material.

I had a hard time adjusting to the work load in the beginning and never really got used to it. My grade went up and down like crazy because of that. She curves everything at the end, which is what took my high B up to an A. I recommend completing the notes in the beginning of the week so that you can ask questions during the live lectures.

Overall this professor is good. Explains the material well, but as other people mentioned, this class will take most of your time, due to LOTS of HOMEWORK. Be sure to remember the materials from CALC 1 ---> you will need it.

Great professor but the only thing is it's a super fast moving class. We never did enough practice problems and move on to the next chapter. This class is really hard and it will take most of your time. Take it online if you have to.

Dr. Taylor teaches the material very clearly. She is a tough grader, and you won't get any grade curving, but if you have good attendance, she will drop a few assignments. The best thing is that her and her husband wrote the guided notebook, so most other professors use their material. You knew you were getting complete and accurate explanations.

Prof. Taylor is an alright professor when it comes to Calculus. I took her asynchronous course and had a very challenging time communicating with her and when I did get ahold of her, she gave very basic almost scripted responses. She would not take the time to explain problems, gave no feedback, and often not explain things during office hours.

Desire Taylor and John Taylor have written a guided notebook to walk you through the semester step by step. Use it, it comes in handy. Easy homework and note check quizzes pad the grade, but tests are tough. You have to study for this class to do well on tests. If you want a solid understanding of Calculus, D Taylor or J Taylor are the way to go.

If you are taking calculus II at UNCC you should try and get Desire or John Taylor. Their guided notes are awesome. Calculus 2 isn't easy so if at all possible go to every lecture.

She is a wonderful professor, explains things well. I never felt that her class was unfair or she put things on tests that you wouldn't expect. Overall Calc II is a difficult course and there is a lot to remember for the tests. But if you pay attention and learn to do the homework and do the practice tests+ old finals you should pass.

if you want to pass you might have to cheat a little she doesn't really teach I failed this class once in the fall and took it again in summer, passed. She teaches well, but the class is very dependent on the guided notebook. Homework and test reviews are both great practice. At a point, one of my exams TANKED my entire grade. Luckily, we get to drop the lowest exam grade providing you have lesser than 3 absences. Good overall, and if you play your cards right you can hold an A. (I wish I did)

This is an online class and the teacher treats it that way. You can email her but she will not answer on the weekends or at an unreasonable time. You have to learn everything you know by yourself or the lectures that she posts. Grading is clear but I cannot stress this enough - you have to teach yourself. You do have practice problems.

While I would say that professor Taylor is tough, I will say that - to balance it out - she is extremely helpful and provides a lot of help, answers, and passion for her students who work hard (which you have to in general for calc)

She takes attendance way too seriously and is very bad at explaining. She has a very robotic attitude and comes off very rude. Her husband's videos and explanations are much better than any lecture I've attended. I'd recommend taking her husband's class instead.

She usually reads through a power point which I think is not good for a math class. He tests are similar to the test review. I did each test review like 5 times and always made A. She gives a worksheet to do every class which goes for a grade (Boring). She also gives 5% curve at the end of the semester after finals if you have good attendance.

Calc 1 is hard, but Desire is a good way to get through it. Beyond what others have said, the extra credit policy is generous and a good way to improve grades. If you have 2 or less absences, you get the lowest of each assignment type dropped basically. Additionally, the lowest test score is replaced by your final.

The class is very lecture heavy. You are expected to have the notes written before every class session and to follow along with her. In concept, the class should be fine. However, despite necessity of having to attend class, you do not learn from attending class and the real learning comes from from a tutor or studying by yourself.

I had Professor Talyor for calc 1 and 2 I would recommend taking her courses if you can't get John Taylor. They are strict, but you will be fine if you pay attention in class and take notes in the guided notebook. Tests are straightforward as they are based on test reviews. Highly recommend this professor!

I took it online during the summer and 5 weeks was not enough for the amount of material. We were required to watch lecture videos and take quizzes on them as well as Webwork assignments every day and an exam each week. It was extremely stressful. And despite the class being online the final exam was in person. But she was helpful in Office Hours.

Desire is very monotone and makes it hard to follow along during her lectures. If you miss a class, you will be unable to make up in class work. She caused me so much stress and is very rude. If you want someone who cares, take another professor. She does not have a phd either, and you can tell that she is not a real prof.

Fairly/Relatively Easy class:)))) 4 tests and a final and the homework assignments were 1-2 hours per week but only the first week assignments were a pain. She gives a review guide very similiar to the test and the actual tests were fairly easy:)))). A low-stress class you should take:))).

I loved Dr. Taylor. Very lecture heavy, so it may be boring, but Dr. Taylor taught everything very clearly. Tests are a little difficult and require thinking, but the final is 100% easier than the tests, so you get really prepared for that by the tests. Taylor feels a little condescending sometimes but is overall a nice person.

I really liked Professor Taylor and ended up enjoying calculus a lot more than I thought I would. The lectures, both online and in person, are super helpful and she even does videos going through the practice test answers, which helped me so much. A lot of work, but worth it. She also offers more points if you miss less than two classes.

She's not bad but she's teaching off a PowerPoint which is rough especially for this class. She's better at teaching on her videos online than in class. Don't expect any EC with her either. She drops a lot of things if you don't skip class also.

You can't do Calc I without one of the Taylors, Mrs. Taylor taught the subject well on her own way & ultimately it is the best way to learn calc. She really puts in the effort to make you learn and grow in Calc. She prefers PowerPoint and independent work. She curves BIGLY on the Final Exam than any other professor. WHEN I MEAN BIGLY, I MEAN BIGLY.

Hist. of Math was previously taught by a professor that made the course much easier than it is with her. Tests are rather difficult and memorization based, but all other aspects of the course are very easy. It's not so much of an easy A as it was in previous years. If you're not good with history and memorization I wouldn't recommend this class.

Class was very test heavy and the tests were difficult with some questions not covered in the reading/assignments. Your grade won't be curved if you have more than 2 absences. The actual material wasn't that complicated but you will need to memorize a lot and study hard for tests. Not an easy A but one of the better classes for a math minor.

I took this class assuming it would be an easy A since the previous professor who taught it made it very easy. Unfortunately, Professor Taylor made it unnecessarily more difficult. She reads off slides and quickly does the class homework. There's a lot of memorization required for tests and they make up the majority of your grade. Don't recommend.

She is very good at teaching the material in a practical way which is very helpful for the class's difficulty. Class was a bit test heavy and webwork due dates were like a day after going over the material, but other than that the class was pretty fun. She puts everyone in groups so we all suffer together and get to practice and make our mistakes.

This was a bit harder than Calc 1 but the workload wasn't bad at all. 3-4 hours of work per week usually. Use photomath to help you on difficult Webwork Problems. Test reviews and the tests are way easier than webwork and only 4 tests and final. Easy B/Sorta Hard A. Just study enough and you will pass:)

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! They speedrun through slides every lecture and randomly skip vital material to talk about random irrelevent stuff. WHY WOULD YOU TRY TO TEACH MATH THROUGH SLIDESHOWS??? I personally studdied a ton for this class and passed with an A, but if you want to succeed prepare to study more than you have for any other class.

Video lectures were good at going over the math, ok at reviewing other concepts. Much of 4109 is memorization. 20 HW + 20 reading quizzes total. Tests felt like trivia night with a math theme. I recommend creating flashcards of the reading quiz questions and memorizing them. Questions won't be exactly the same but they'll have the same ideas.

I do not recommend taking calc II over the summer. The course load was split into 5 weeks with a test each week. Each topic has 5-7 sections. If you absolutely need to take it, take the course with one of the Taylor's, and proactively stay ahead of their course schedule. Material is not difficult but you need to give your brain time to think on it.

This course was intended to be an easy credit for my math minor. It was a little more involved than I expected. Prof Taylor is a decent lecturer, although she has a bad habit of reading directly from slides. Most of the homework was done for you in class. Tests are weighted heavily and can be inconsistently difficult.

I can't say anything good because this class was awful, but I don't blame Dr. Taylor for all of that. The school changed the curriculum and convoluted the order and structure of everything. I will say that she knows what she's talking about and can get through a lot of topics fast. Sometimes hard to keep up but you can just take a picture.

I can tell that Professor Taylor doesn't put much effort into this class and doesn't seem to care much about it either. Her lectures are her reading off slides for about 10 minutes which often contradict the textbook. 75% of the grade comes from exams which aren't too bad, but its hard to comeback after one low score.

She gives off a rude vibe based on how she talks. She gives out most of the HW answers during lectures, but her lectures are just reading slides at a very fast pace. Contents of class are easy, just attend class, do assignments, and make sure to study for the test since each test is 15% and the final exam is 30%.

Tests and quizzes were pretty straightforward. However, it's hard to get a hold of her for office hours and she clearly doesn't like answering questions or interacting with students. She moves through slides very quickly. If you take her class, be sure to prepare before class because she sometimes doesn't seem prepared for her own lectures.

Calc 2 is pure tortue but she tries her best to make the experience as painless as possible. She explains everything very well and very clearly. My only gripe is that she changed her attendance policy 75% into the semester increasing the number of absences for being allowed to drop your lowest test grade from 2-3 which by that point I already had 3

Dr. Taylor is a great professor for a class like calc two. Although I would say that she went through her slides extremely fast, her resources are really good. So, in you don't understand the material in class, you can re-teach it to yourself outside of class. Don't try to put off understanding difficult topics, come exam time you will struggle.

I struggled with Calc 2 as a whole, but she is a great professor. She and her husband published a Calc 2 guided notebook she and other teachers use in class. She has a super helpful YouTube playlist with her husband with hw and final review. She's very good at explaining her work and test reviews are very helpful. If you take this class, take her!!

Took this class 1 year ago, curriculum has since changed completely for the course -rounded lowest test up to the final + some extra credit if 3 or less absences (so show up), -the final was curved a great amount -Tests were not easy, but once you get the hang of it it's not that bad -test reviews are very helpful to study for the tests

I took the online summer course over a 5-week period. I don't think that it is necessarily the professor's fault, but Calc 2 is a lot of information over a short time, so I struggled a lot. You have to put in your whole day to do the work, and you still don't have enough time to ask for help or to get help because there is a test every seven days.

To start, Calc 2 is a hard class but can still be done! Desire is a ok teacher. However, if you can get her husband instead (John Taylor) get HIM. I regret taking her instead of him. When asked for questions she responded rudely but at the end of the day she completed all lectures on time. Not the best professor but also not the worst.

She gives partial credit on free response for the tests, but hardly actually gives you any credit. All of sudden she started to do formula quizzes. Se also has no in person office hours only virtual. She takes a long time to answer emails about grades and performance. She also makes it seem like she doesn't want us to succeed in the course.

Desire Taylor gives our review packets for each exam but it doesn't do a good job preparing for the exam. In class we would be told that if we do well on the review packet we will do well on the exam that information was wrong because once I took the exam it was nothing like the review and the questions were harder.

Try to get John Taylor or one of the higher rated calculus professors. Her grading is unnecessarily harsh, with very little to no partial credit on exams. Comparing her tests to those of other calculus instructors is baffling. However, she did stay on track with the course material.

This class is way more difficult than it needs to be. I had concerns about attendance and she sent me the same copy pasted email twice in a row despite my concern not applying. She has a air of incredible arrogance despite often struggling with basic math concepts. She got confused over a basic proportion, etc. Incredibly egotistical.

I spent so much time on this class rather than my core classes. The professor doesn't make this class any easy as she claims to. The final and the exams add up to 75% of your overall grade. Missing more than 2 classes results in not being able to apply for exam grade replacement and the final only "partially" replaces one of the exams. The exams were more difficult than the test reviews and the lectures went by really fast. Partial credit was rarely given on exams as well.

Good pacing with the content of calc 2 but the tests were rough. There is pretty much no partial credit so if you make one slight algebra mistake there goes your points. I had many questions that brought my grade down, but the final ended up being much easier than her tests which got me an A. I would try to get any other professor than her.

Calc 2 is an intense class, with most course material standardized across the math department. For this reason, lots of time must be spent outside of class to master things. Desire kept lectures to-the-point, yet very fast-paced. She would always have good answers for thoughtful questions asked in respectable ways; not so much for dumb questions!!

This class was extremely difficult, but she explained everything clearly and focused on what really mattered. She can be strict at times and her pace was fast, but she provided lots of supportive materials outside of class through her YouTube videos. She even wrote the textbook we used, so she definitely knows her stuff.

I took Professor Taylor for Calculus 2. I have never met a colder instructor. It felt like she was purposely going out of her way to make the class even harder. She never replied to emails and always seemed to be annoyed when giving lectures. I did learn the material, but my experience in her class was very negative and caused me a lot of stress.

First things first I would like to say calculus 2 is a very hard course in general, no matter what professor you choose you will still struggle somewhat. Desire tends to make the course harder than it needs to be, and this is mainly towards her unit tests. Desire's unit tests are very difficult, and are harder than the finals. Pick someone else.
