Really good professor and I got 2 A's in his classes. Just agree with him and you will do fine. His papers are really esay if you go to class
his the best history Pro, take him. His funny and you learn a lot. Also his a sweet man.
his tests are true and false so if you like those types of test then take him. i personally hated his tests and ended up failing the course. he is also a bit boring but funny at times

WORST professor I have EVER had! Made no sence, and then made you feel like a moron for being something as horrible as Catholic. class also moved as slow as molasses. I have no idea who ever gave this man a degree, can understand why he's only visting.
this class was aweful. way to much work required for one class. he did not organize his time efficiently. made us cram in like four papers and two tests and a final within the last month of class. did not give us any breaks either.

Great professor, vey very very knowledgable. SMART. VERY smart! Knows a lot about history and politics. If you want to know the REAL history of the US (and world) take him. Learned a lot and would take him again. BRAVO DETLEV!!!

He is very smart and knowledgable, and his class was fairly easy, but there were A LOT of papers...too many for the amount of information he gave...he went off on a million tangeants, but all in all, the class isn't that bad. He's a nice enough guy.
enjoys teaching, quizzes easy, but the papers are very long and time consuming. use to take me the whole weekend, but i always got an a. i don't think the papers had any relevance half the time. at times boring.

Basically easy teacher. He assigned reading, but I've never done it. Quizes and exams are all true and false. Lectures are boring, but he goes off topic alot.
He was a nice person, got off the subject a lot, easy quizzes, not tests till final, just a few long papers. didn't realy have to do the reading in order to get good grades.
What a weird guy, he often talks about his personal life, but starngely it relates to class! He has had some amazing experiences! The books are a waste of money, but his class isn't. Lots of papers, but SHORT ones and he is so fun it's worth it!!
HORRIBLE professor!!!!! cannot believe he has a PhD. had to drop the class cause he hadnt covered a quarter of the material halfway into the semester! HORRIBLE, if you are a History Major, STAY AWAY!!!

reading is horrible, lectures are all over the place, nice guy but very disorganized
Prof. Koepke gives students many chances to make up work, as well as rewrite it for a better grade. He choses to make class interesting by teaching alternative views, as well as the accepted ones.
He is extremly disorganized. He can't find your papers when you hand them in. He's always 15min. for class. He can't ever stay on subject, and he never offers any help to aid you on your papers, or quizzes.
this guy is completely insane he will rant on about irrelevant things in his lectures, and has bizarre conspiracy theories about everything. he is extremely disorganized also. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!!! i withdraw passing just to get away from him!
I had this professor last semester and thought he was a bit disorganized. However, I kearned a lot from him, He is very interesting, and he is great when lecturing. I now have a professor who is so bland and boring. I really miss Prof. Koepke!

I had this guy for both western civ and u.s. history. As long as you take good notes, listen 2 his funny lectures yet beneficial..you'll do fine. his debate papers are pretty simple as long as u take time to do em'. quizzes dont really matter its da papers dat count! i liked him not 2 shabby..

I've been to anti-war protests and ran into Professor Koepke there marching with signs against Bush. His class was pretty good too, but this impressed me more. Being out on the streets of Boston with my professor telling Bush to shove it!
THis has been my favorite teacher ever!! I have taken him 3 times and wish i could take him for every subject.He is fun and will keep you awake.You learn a lot about how the world really is. I actually look forward to attending his class,and he made me very interested in history. Awesome professor!
He has been my favorite teacher so far. I have taken him twice and I love being in his class. He always has something interesting to say and I learned interesting everyday about the government we lived under. He's also funny and entertaining to listen to!
Excellent!! Really enjoyed his classes. Knows his stuff and tells history like it was not the whitewashed version we are used to. Great professor and an even greater man!

the man is out of his mind. haha. he definitely makes history kind of interesting. the quizzes dont matter that much its the papers which are pretty easy. just go to class, take notes and thats it. not bad at all. good professor.
Pretty easy class... He gives you everything you need to know in his 100pg long syllabus. Lots of reading, but interesting... He knows his stuff, often bringing up current topics and relating them to the past which is great. I liked this class.
The class was philosophy (Bunker Hill CC), but he still managed to constantly talk about the gov. and the environment. I'm not a Bush fan either, but come on...its philosophy class. Test questions were inconsistent with the correct answer at times. Assignments based on texts which were not used. Nice enough guy, but out of it. Would not recommend.
HE is confusing about when he gives quizzes and what is on them. He covers a lot in short time and if he goes off subject which is often then he skips material and the study guids do little help.
By far my favorite teacher here at Bridgewater. I've taken him twice and was even better second time around. Once u get the papers down he's easy. Don't think he's a complete crackpot either, he has some really good ideas and alot come from credible books. If you want a good blending of history and modern conspiracies take him!
OUT OF HIS MIND! first day of class quote " i expet the wall to know more than you all at the end of the year" also, very sweaty and dirty looking.
Great professor, opens up subjects to debate and makes students use analytical questions to really learn and think about the subjects covered. Has a very interesting point of view, and covers many topics often left out. Only setback is a lack of organization with keeping up with the syllabus.

Excellent professor. I have had him for two different classes and I will be in another of his classes next semester. He is so intelligent and he teaches things that aren't in the books.He expects you to learn something and whats wrong woth that?
Professor Koepke is very intelligent. He knows a LOT about history! But, he's extremely disorganized and goes on tangents during his lectures. I can't blame him too much cuz he was given this course a week before classes started, but, he still needs to be more organized. If you're a history major, definitely take his course! You'll learn a lot!
I have taken this profesor three times for three different history levels and he still amazes me! He is a very intelligent and well read man. I really learned a lot from him and I realized that there are many different points of view on any historical subject.
One of the worst proffessors at BSC. Actually, states historical "facts" which are just wrong. Often late, yet criticizes late students. Does not follow sylabus. Political opinions get in the way of lecture. A disgrace to a great school.
Before I took his class, I read these reviews, most said he was a "good teacher". I totally disagree. For the material, the class should have been a breeze, I took nothing out of it. The person below me totally sums it up for the most part. If you can choose, dont take him.
NEVER TAKE HIM!!! Yes he is a very smart man and is even funny, but asks WAY TOO MUCH for a GER! Every 2-3 week you write about a 10-12 paper answers 6 questions. Not necessarily hard, but very time-consuming and repetitive. I spent 7 days a week working on history and it not my major. Also gives hard tests, you HAVE to read big book cover 2cover!

i HATE history to begin wtih. but i dont mind goin to his class just because its kind of a joke. hes often late but hes a funny teacher sometimes. he's an easy grader on papers and assignments. i recommend him if you hate history. but if you like history, find a better professor. i would def take him again.
I loved his class but i can totally understand why someone wouldn't. He is smart but very opionated on certain aspects of History. Makes you think critically. I hated the fact that you could not contact him in any way other than in class.
AWFUL!!! I am not bad in history and while in his class he made it seem like i was, he is an awful grader and expects too much for a GER. 5 quizzes midterm and final and 2 papers. VERY HARD!! DO NOT TAKE if you want to pass with a D or better

15 kids dropped this class!! he grades unfairly and poorly! i got a F on my midterm and a paper we needed to complete was the same thing and i got an A. He is the worst teacher ive ever taken.
The only reason this professor is getting bad ratings is because people refuse to read the book. The class is very easy if you do the work and read the class notes. People dropped the class because they couldn't read the directions on the paper. The professor is very helpful and funny, he enjoys teaching. Don't take if you can't read directions.
This is a college class, so expect to do some work. Easy assignments, not strict at all. T/F quizzes, a midterm, and final. He prepares you for everything beforehand. He's very intelligent so don't try to BS, he knows the facts. Highly recommended.
i wouldn't take him again...he was all over the place and what he says will be on the midterm/final is but then he added more stuff and never told us. i don't know how i got by in this class and history is my 2nd major!
I have nevergone on this website before but I deel it is my need to warn people of this teacher. Ive never had a problem with a teacher in my life and this is hands down the worst teacher I have ever had. Conspiracy theorist and he will shove it down your throat! This guy is the nuttiest professor I've ever had. He definitely shoves his opinions down your throat but he at least makes class interesting. It pretty easy if you read.. but this guy is simply insane. I liked him.
What a joke. Koepke was horrible. He was too busy throwing out his opinions, that he didn't cover the material. And then he acted like it was our fault that he didn't cover it all so he didn't let us pass in our last paper to boost up our grade! Mostly cause HE didn't want to grade! His words... Do NOT take him!
in all honesty he is the worst teacher ever. he goes on and on about nothing so much he doesnt go over his materail. everything he tries to teach you is off his own opinion. you can tell he doesnt like you if you dont think like him questions are next to impossible to anwser. i dont care if you are a genious dont take this class you will not pass!!
World Hist. since 1500.. He's very liberal and into "going green". With that said, you WILL learn a lot of things you wouldn't in other classes, but you have to keep perspective that a lot IS his opinion. Class is all lectures and notes, no in class quizzes, but take home questions (need book) count as quizzes. Attendance counts. One book report.
He is into "going green" and teaches according to his personal agenda. A lot of the material covered is his opinion. His in class quizzes are easy enough. The take home tests are long and the questions are confusing. He often goes on tangents. I found that sometimes it was hard to tell what was a rant and what was needed for notes.
I found this class to be dreadful. HIS opinion is all that matters. LONG take home quizzes that seem to take ages to do. His grading system is a mess. There are in class quizzes that he starts with 15 min of class remaining and they take longer than that. AVOID HIM if you dont have time to waste.
Honestly, the best you can do inhis class is most likly a B. I tried really hard in his class and did an extra credit paper and got a B-. If you are looking for a class to get an A in, this might not be a class for you. Although I learned a lot in his class, it did not really reflect in my grade. Talk to him out of class and be involved in clasS.
Everything about him is awful, though if you ever ask him who shot JFK, you'll basically get the class off, since he'll go on a conspiracy theory tangent.
He is terrible and goes against BSC policies. I don't mind the conspiracies, I can handle the class-long tangents. He has 2 TOTALLY different grading systems as of this semester. On tests if you show that you learned something and didn't quote him or the textbook exactly, he marks you down. You can say the same thing in different words and fail.
personally i think he is a nice guy. his grading can be off and a little rediculous, but he has some humor to him that i like.
Awful!! I'm a history buff and have never been so disinterested in a history class before. He is an incredibly unfair grader and does not seem sure about what he's teaching. I've learned more about his conspiracy theories on 9/11 and the assassinations of MLK, JFK (and his election), and Bobby Kennedy than I have of actual history. Avoid him!
He sweats a LOT so don't sit in the front row. Occasionally his shirt becomes unbuttoned and you see his large, hairy stomach. Also, he mentions his sex life on more than one occasion. I think you can figure out what I learned during this class.

This guy give you 8 open book quizs for the year that he lets you take in groups. These quiz's are hard even though you can use your booke and work in a group. He also rmbles on about how everything you ever leared is wrong and what he tells you is correct. Just a long class that you must attend and seems like forever before the day is over.

Gave us all a petition to send to administation to get AC in Boyden, sweated profusely due to ragweed allergy, was mean and cranky all the time, AWFUL grader, tough, Do NOT take under any circumstances- seriously you will regret it no matter what. So much work, classes draggg on. Awful Awful Awful.
The guy has got to be tenured...there is no way any normal thinking person would allow this man to teach any type higher education. Avoid this clown at all costs
He was a very inspiring, motivational, wise and experienced person who had a lot to teach in all sorts of fields. His grading wasn't hard, very fair, the work load was decent except at the beginning. He paced us out well after, though he did have difficulties keeping up with the syllabus due to off topic conversations as he was quite knowledgeable.
