Pretty good basic environmental studies class. I only took the class to fulfill a GE requirement but it wasn't bad at all. Show up and pay attention. And pick a good partner for your project, because I had to do a lot of the work due to a lazy partner. No homework as I recall. Just study and show up.
great professor. knows her stuff and tries to keep class interesting. tests are kinda hard but fair.
Solid professor. She knows her stuff, and is very passionate about the subject. Attendance is 100% mandatory. She is a no-bull professor. Come to class and put a little effort into it, and you will get an A. Also, make sure you don't get stuck with a garbage group for the final paper (I did 5 pages myself).
Hardest class I've ever taken in college. I got a bit lazy and failed to keep up with the study material (there is a LOT you need to memorize/know). READ THE BOOK before AND after lecture. Do your study guides. FINISH lab intro's and summaries. DO NOT get lazy and put off work. Still a hard class, but good luck.
she grades reaaaally slow..
Dr. Mo is a very fair teacher. Her tests are not hard as long as you study. And don't freak out about the lab exams, they aren't too bad either. She's not out to fail students, and offers quite a bit of extra credit. :)
Nice professor, actually pretty easy class but I wasnt very focused and never attended class...whenever I did attend class lectures were boring other times she incorporated you tube videos to make it fun so they did gret interesting...we used the clicker system too so that kept me awake..I probably would take her again since I know what to expect..
Dr. Mo's is a great teacher. She clearly loves her plants! She definitely makes an effort to make botany interesting. Tests are pretty straightforward.
Dr Mo is a pretty good teacher. My h.s. experience w/ biology was not the best so Dr Mo is definitely better. She has genuine interest in the subject which makes it easier to follow along and share her enthusiasm. The only negative is that she has favorites and she never seemed to like me though I was never absent/disruptive& did well in the class.
I would absolutely recommend this teacher. She is very clear and makes sure that you understand the material. Her tests are straightforward if you actually study. Her study guides are EXTREMELY helpful. I got an A :)
Teaches with passion and well but she has her moody days sometimes like everyone. She helps out her students as much as she can and tests very practically and reasonably. However, the material that needs to be covered in the short period of time can make lab and lecture difficult to manage. Cover material before lab. Definitely take.
She is one of the best teachers in IVC. Another one is Julie Wells in BIO93. Students like them not only because they lecture well and clearly, but also because they are nice and take responsibility. As a student, I don't want to judge the professor, but I do know she is one of the best two BIO teachers in IVC.
I love Dr. Mo! She's super helpful and approachable. She's a great teacher and gives you study guides to prep for lecture exams. I would definitely take her again.
Her notes , lectures, and study questions are extremely helpful for studying the tests. Just pay attention and you will do just fine. She is extremely helpful if you have a question.
Dr Mo is awesome. She gives you all the materials you need to be successful in her class, is very clear and always willing to help. If you do poorly in her class then you aren't putting in even minimal effort. Highly recommend!
Prof Dev Mo is such a cool professor! She knows her stuff, is easy to talk to and is always willing to help you. The material is a lot to grasp but there is plenty of opportunities for points to succeed. There are 3 exams and two lab exams and a few projects so it is very important to stay on top of the assignments and attend class.
She's amazing!! Very easy to talk to, clear, concise, organized and knows the subject very well! Offers tons of extra credit and doesn't hesitate if asked for a regrade! Tests are directly from the study guides she posts on BB. Do the work and there's no way to get anything less than a B! Take her.. You won't be disappointed!
This class is not very difficult if you take the proper steps. she gives ALOT of EC, so make sure you get them, theyll help. STUDY EVERYTHING FOR THE EXAMS AND LAB QUIZES they are not extremely hard questions, but cover a very broad range of things. while studying, if you ever tell yourself that "oh this will not be on the test"you will be mistaken
i've tried harder in this class than i've ever tried in a class before and i barely ended up with an A. however she is very helpful and offers A LOT of extra credit. don't leave early during lab because she'll dock your participation points. overall very good professor
Firm but fair. Hard class, but excellent teacher. There's always something going on in class (test, quiz, exam, or HW) every week to stay on top of things- but that's because she wants us to succeed. Good Luck ;)
I took her online ENV 1 class and loved it. She is very organized and her powerpoints are easy to follow. She doesn't give a lot of homework so it's good to take her online course if you're a working person. I recommend this class!
Lectures are clear/easy to understand, lots of lab-work, so work hard. Even though it is a hard class and she is a tough teacher, she is super nice and helpful, probably one of the best BIO teachers at IVC. Highly recommend! Especially if you're a bio major.
She is a nice lady but her quizzes are too detailed. You spend so much time on the labs but they are only 5 points. This class is a lot harder than a lab should be. Its harder than my lecture lab class. She comes to class 15 minutes late and leaves class pretty much the whole time. She says everything is straight forward. Its not.
I took her online Bio 1 class and her Bio 1 lab. The online class was really well organized. You get points for participation and other online stuff, so its key to stay on top of those. She was helpful in lab and would answer my lecture questions in lab.
She is a great teacher! This class is definitely ALOT of work but her lectures are interesting and helpful.
She is extremely knowledgeable about the content of this class. There are only 2 lecture exams and 4 lab exams (all very detailed and difficult). Studying is a must! The lecture exams are difficult because they cover A LOT of material. Some extra credit. Online quizzes. Attendance for both lecture and lab are mandatory (40 pts).
Bradley is a very sweet lady and you can tell she is very passionate when she teaches. But It is very important that you attend her class! Labs are easy, there are 2 presentations, a notebook you must fill, and must take notes!! She gives 2 lab quizzes and 3 tests (including final). You have to study A LOT!! Good luck if you're taking her class!!!
Class was difficult, tough tests. Never skip a class, attendance is mandatory. Be prepared to study everyday because thier is a lot of context.
Bradley is very passionate about what she's teaching. If you reach out to her, she WILL email you back. She is not easy but fair. Do you actually have to learn a thing or two in this class? YES. You have to read and review if you want a good grade. She gives you two week intervals between sections. The effort you put in is the grade you'll get.
Class was very interesting. Theres a lot of materiel but reading the book helps a lot. You have to do a lab journal for her class but if you work on it everyday after the lab you will pass. Tests arent that hard if you are good at memorizing. Lab exams are kind of hard but are good preparation for the actual exam. weekly quizzes but very easy.
Great class with interesting lectures. Don't cram ;)
Professor Bradley is an amazing professor, shes been a true inspiration for me, she loves what she does and is constantly trying to find new ways to help make the topic more engaging for students, being in her class was truely a learning experience, lets just say i will never look at another plant the same way again.
Never thought I would enjoy plants as much as I did! She made me really love botany. She is an amazing professor and I would gladly take her classes again.
bio 94 is already hard class and she makes it even harder. really regretting taking it with her while ivc has a better professors who teaches the same class but in a better way. she is really mean and gives a lot of Cs
This class is a lot of work, but its not too bad if you stay on top of it and attend all of the lectures. Bradley is passionate about what she is teaching which makes the lectures more interesting. Lab exams are tough.
Do not take the online class, takes forever to respond to emails! Lots of work, and very hard midterm/final. Study guides are pointless, texbook is a must, read the summary chapters! She does provide lots of supplemental study materials, READ THE POWERPOINTS, must participate on discussion boards i passed but it was alot of work.
I don't know what the person below me is talking about. Yes, she takes forever to reply to emails, but her class is far beyond from hard. If you're having troubles with this class, then college isn't for you. Her exams are easy. They're based off her PPT and chapters lectures. It isn't hard to crack open your book. Her discussions are opinion based
This was one of the most difficult classes ever for me. Bradley is SO boring. Feels like she doesn't care some days. Lab exams are ridiculously crazy and attending her class is absolutely a waste of time because she just reads off the ppt's but you have to attend for participation. Also, class average for last exam was around a D or F. DONT DO IT
Fairly easy class. Discussions are topics of her choice and you just reply with your opinion. 8 modules and she drops the lowest score. Tests are easy if you just open your book and read the power-point you should do well.
It is a bland class due to the material (e.g. plant section), but Prof. Bradley is the best because of her passion and knowledge to the subject. My only criticisms is her slow grading, and her very difficult tests (F is the average grade). To get an A, realize that it's easier to learn if u can find a way to enjoy the material or make it relatable.
BIO94 is a hard class that requires a bit of discipline. DO NOT SLACK ON THE LAB NOTEBOOK, AND DON'T PUSH BACK STUDYING. Easiest way to do bad in this class is to procrastinate. Bradley is an AMAZING prof who really cares about her students and what she teaches. Effort is a MUST in order to do well. Consistent work pays off!
Bradley promised us that in the beginning of the semester she would round us up if we were on the border and had good participation. It was a lie :( Her tests are crazy and she is not a good teacher. I cannot stress this enough, please take another professor. Maybe someone who actually cares for their students
If you can't deal with the amount of information in this class, you should reconsider your major. I got a C because I procrastinated the lab notebook entries and did not study enough in advance. You can't BS your way thru college, may as well get used to it now. Now that I'm at a UC I wish I had tried in her class bc it only gets harder from here.
Prof Bradley is definitely passionate about what she teaches and seeks to instill an interest in the natural world and ignite a curiosity in biology as a whole. Unfortunately, she got quite behind in the schedule which meant we had a lot to cover in a short amount of time and is also a slow grader. I would still recommend taking her, however.
I took the environmental 1 course online and appreciated how organized this course was. There are around 9 module exams and they weren't too difficult. She gives you a two-week span to complete assigned homework, discussions, and readings. Overall, not a hard class, may require more of your time than usual, but doable.
She is nice and caring. I like the way she grades. Quizzes are easy if you really study.
AWESOME CLASS!
DO NOT MISS CLASS! Bio is hard, so put in the effort and you'll pass the class. Be aware that there is a lot to cover, so STAY ON TOP OF YOUR REVISION or else you'll never catch up. There are a lot of opportunities to pass the class (quizzes, attendance, lab notebook). She gives surprise quizzes based on how confident she is in the class. LAB SUCKS.
Prof Bradley is a very easy grader and as long as you do the work and test well, you will get an A. All tests are open notes and open book which is awesome! I would definitely take this class again, I learned a ton. Just be aware that she is nearly impossible to get in touch with so ask questions well in advance.
If you are a slacker this class & major is not for you. You need to stay on top of the readings, do ALL of her recommended study questions, & stay updated with the lab notebook. There is a lot of memorization and you cant get by with cramming. she grades harsh on vocab & the short answers are tricky. KNOW EVERYTHING & pay attention during lectures
Great professor, passionate about what she teaches, sadly had to drop the class but would take again with her. If given the chance, go on bio field studies with her. She gives great lectures and is overall a very good professor! Course wise, take Bio 81+ prereqs and then Bio 80. Heard its much easier that way because this is some heavy material.
BIO1 online 8 modules 7 quizzes/exams she drops lowest score excludes final 1 mixed with final with the last 7 modules 12 discussions usually each week, 1 extra credit, 1 drop lowest score 1 paper Can use both her PowerPoints and book on exams Quizzes get harder in the middle, read the book and PowerPoints before Straight forward class
Easily one of the best professors I've had at IVC
Class is entirely taxonomy so it's pretty boring and pure memorization. Professor Bradley is a very nice person but can go off topic and get behind in lectures. Everything is posted on Canvas including lecture slides. Tests based on lecture. Labs are microscope and specimen drawing based and are longer than they should be. Pretty easy overall
Very nice professor and very passionate about what she teaches. This was California Wildlife/lands and the class was all overview. Not a diffiuclt class and she really goes into detail. Her tests can be tricky, but if you study you will do well. I came out with an A and I found myself very interested in nature.
Professor Bradley kept the class enjoyable all semester. You can tell that she's passionate about what she teaches and it's contagious. Her lectures are genuinely interesting and she will answer any questions kindly and clearly. An amazing professor and a fair grader. Build study guides for the lecture and lab exams as you go so you don't cram
She's really nice and passionate about what she teaches. Slow grader. If you do not enjoy biology the lectures will be boring, but if you do then they are great. Tests reflect what was covered in class. I personally hated the labs because they are just drawing a bunch of specimens. Overall a sweet, knowledgeable professor, would highly recommend.
There's a lot of vocab that you're gonna have to learn and you will need to start early in the semester because it is too much to cram at the end
I read some good reviews about this professor and being that this is my first Bio class of my college career and this is the hardest class I have ever gone through. She wastes so much time talking about nonsense so she takes away time from the actual lecture. Will fail your test no matter how much you study for it. Takes off unnecessary points.
I never was able to get a 40 on her exams. I almost always get 37 and she usually has one or two short answer questions. I was shocked to see I scored a 28.5/40 on the one exam that contained no short answer questions. The way she designs her she doesn't list the right answer as one of the options you can choose from
Dr. Bradley is the best. She truly cares about biology and her students. The class is extremely difficult, but she is always willing to help. She even helped me with managing my test anxiety. There are only two lecture exams, so there is not that many opportunities to recover if you do poorly on one. Visit her during OH and simply ask for help.
Dr. Bradley is a really good professor! You have to be well prepared for this class- Read chapters before class and study EVERY DAY!! It's a bad idea to cram everything in a week or 3 days before the exam. I advise to use all the resources and stay on top. Read chapters, review lecture notes, lab and quiz every day.
3 tests, 4 lab tests, and a final group project. Take good notes during lecture and follow the study guides for the tests. She cares a lot about students and is willing to work with you. Finish lab worksheets ahead of time and DON'T PROCRASTINATE ON THE LAB JOURNAL. Overall an amazing, one of a kind class you should definitely take.
Professor Bradley is not organized at all. She never grade any assignment until the last week of the semester. She response to emails so late. In this Online class, she didn't assigned a date or give any information about the final until one day before our exam. Please don't take this class.
This was one of the better managed online courses I have taken. Weekly discussions, exams every two weeks. Everything is organized and clear. Pretty easy if you just stay on top of that work and schedule. Not sure what that last persons was talking about - all dates are in schedule, weekly reminders, tests open for awhile, etc.
Professor Bradley is really sweet and caring. She is always willing to help her students and her lectures are really intresting. Just DO NOT PROCRASINATE on the lab journal or studying for the tests. Make sure to answer all her lecture study questions per chapter and you should do fine in the class :)
There were weekly discussions, tests every 2 weeks, and an out-of-class assignment. She outlined the dates for the lecture topics and exams in the syllabus at the beginning of the semester. She also provides a study guide for each exam. I also took her last semester for BIO 2. She is a really sweet and caring professor overall.
Do the knowledge checks and review the previous lab and lecture exams and the final will be easy; she just reuses the questions. I used the textbook for review but never fully read the chapters-try to find it online for free, it's not worth to buy it. LEARN frm the labs and you'll be ok, graded on completion for labs and won't correct mistakes
Amazing Teacher, Great lessons, There is Proctorio on exams and no its not open book so there is a lot of reading and memorizing to do, very worth it. Great Class, Great Teacher, Thanks again
(Online course review). Dr. Bradley started the semester out well by posting lectures and such. However, this did not last long. After a little less than a quarter into the semester she put in little to no effort in teaching this class. No lectures just YouTube and self-study. Tests were also quite difficult and proctored. Would not recommend.
So, at first I thought taking notes take forever, just look at his lectures and take notes from his presentation. If you want to go back, read the textbook to add additional notes. His exams are proctored for covid: Catch side, you can always double check after the exams on what you got wrong. It's easy at least 7th grade biology basics.
Great professor. I took her class asynchronously. Biggest tip for her mid terms/final... Look at the previous quizzes (and for the final the mid term)!! There are so many questions copied word for word! I would say about a good 70% of them!
I took Prof. Bradley's CA Wildlife and Wildlands course (BIO 30) and I loved her. She's passionate and gives great thorough lectures. You'll get an A if you attend class, take notes during lectures, and do the study guides she gives. Answers to exams come straight from lectures and a little from the textbook. Study early and don't cram before exams
She was passionate and really made sure everyone understood the material. She provides various resources and a specific outline on what you need to read in the book that will help you understand the lecture effectively. She does provide some extra credit opportunities that helped my grade and shes always available to answer questions if needed
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR BIO80. this is an extremely difficult class. I am a very hard working student but I still wasn't sure sure till the last minute if I will get an A. EVen getting a B in this class is super difficult and takes a lot of effort. I had her online using proctorio for everything even lab quizzes.
NEVER take this professor. We lost so many time on the lectures because she talked about something else. The exam were really hard and even if you studied, it was pretty impossible to get an A. She never curves the exams. She also almost never answers the questions.
She relies very heavily on the textbook and is a very slow grader. Her labs are sometimes posted really last minute and her tests are very difficult. Her free response questions are also checked on grammar, so not a good class to take if you have bad grammar.
I think a lot of people who take this class are first years so they're not yet acquainted to how hard community college classes can be especially for stem majors. If you're starting out at IVC and wanting to take BIO80 take it with this professor, don't listen to these other hoes on here bruh, believe me she's one of the incredibly good ones.
8week class. Idk if I like or dislike the class tbh. For me it was somewhat easy because I did have prior experience in BIO 1 during high school, so it wasn't so hard for me. Her exams are HEAVILY weighted and proctored. Around 70% of the questions are from the previous quizzes. She was pretty easy to contact and gave a total of 21 extra credit.
She's a great professor but the classes are hard and you need do the work on time to not fall behind! And tests are hard and need a lot of preparation
Prof is a nice lady, but the class itself is so unorganized i wanted to rip my hair out every day. We always had unfinished labs that would pile up and end up having to do them all in one day. We also didn't really follow the schedule since she moved several things around (makes things confusing and unorganized). Tests are hard, study hard.
She's the best bio prof, I recommend her, but some things to know. 1:Tests are ridiculously hard; I studied for test 2 for a month and got a C. 2:She is an incredibly slow grader. 3:She's pretty disorganized, and would keep pushing labs and assignments off, it would pile up to be a ton of work. Class definitely isn't an easy A, get ready to work.
Great prof! Her lectures were long but they helped on tests (don't buy the book, just watch lectures/look at powerpoints). 4 proctored tests (3 75pts, 1 100 pts). 12 5 question quizzes and 18 discussions. Assignments are easy to get 100%, so much of your grade is based on tests. If you are willing to put in the time, this is a great class
Good class but tests are proctored, long, and difficult. Lectures are 1hr and there's around 4-5 per module. I suggest doing your own notes from the slides. Discussions once a week, 5 points each, and easiest thing ever. If you're good with tests then this is a good class. If you usually get by without doing good on tests this is not going to work.
She is super fun especially if you get a chance to know her she is very caring and understanding she is a bit unorganized. The exams are hard but the lectures and study guides she provides actually match up to whats on the exams you just need to put in the effort to do them.
Nice professor. Tests are not hard.
SUPER long, boring video lectures, she doesn't answer questions very well. Her exams have NO study guides, so you feel like you have to know everything, and ZERO homework, meaning you miss 5 points on an exam. BOOM, you're out! From and A to a B.
Not flexible at all, entire course is pre-made, and all you do are discussion posts and a whole lot of tests. Her exam is generic and doesn't align with her materials.
Devon is very nice and this online bio is pretty much watching videos, making discussion posts, and exams and quizzes. Quizzes are open book and she posts study guides with each lecture. Exams can be hard but pretty much match up with lecture and textbook.
I took her ENV 1 class for the summer. It's a super easy class and doesn't take much of your time. Her course does include many tests, but they're all super easy. She is a great professor and is a very easy grader, however, she is not good at responding to emails.
There are small assignments, but the grade is based on 4 large proctored exams. Even if you get 100% for assignments but get a lower score on the exam, you're screwed. The teacher also does not offer office hours and says it requires an appointment, but if you email her for an appointment, she won't respond to any emails. You're on your own.
