If I would be able to recommend one teacher in my life, hailing her both in respect and admiration, it would be Professor Holmes

She's an awesome writing professor. Really helpful and seems to really enjoy teaching the subject. So I definately recommend her for any of the classes she teaches.

Devon is a very good teacher, she is intimadating at first but very cool once the class gets going. Not too much work and is a fair grader.

Prof. Holmes is really cool. She is very helpful and definitely cares about each and every one of her students. She is talkative, personal and LOVES grammar.

She's not as clear regarding what she wants but will take as much time out of class as you want to ensure you get it right. She genuinely cares about her students. She grades papers fairly, despite what others say. ("Hard grader?" No wonder you got poor scores on your paper!!)

Wonderful teacher. Is very interested in her students, as well as their writing styles. She is witty and always enjoyable to be around. Although she serves on many committees and whatnot, she is easy to find and checks her e-mail often.

AWESOME. she's really helpful in conferences about your writing. she's really down to earth in class and pushes students to talk so its not all lecture. i recommend her fer surrrrre!!

She's a really nice professor, smart, and helpful too! However, she is the toughest English grader I have ever had in all 12 years of school! If you want to better your writing skills take her, but if you want an A take someone else.

At first you think she is an easy teacher which she kind of is but then you get your grade and you think wow i thought i did better than that. Well, thats how I felt. She is an awesome person though and not too much homework which is a plus!!

Very easy to talk to and always welcoming at office hours. Great person in general, very approachable. I wholeheartedly recommend taking her class : )

Ms. Holmes was absolutely amazing! I normally hate writing in general, but for some reason I liked writing for her class. THE BEST WRITING CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN! She really cares about her students. She is really helpful and so beautiful!!!

I had her for Rhet and Comp 140. She is a great teacher, but young. Sometimes she can't handle the class dynamic. She assigns a lot of work, but it is all engaging and interesting. She really helped me become a better right and if you take time on your assignments and do them well you should be fine.

"young" is key. She knows her stuff, and does let class run itself but you really have to do the work yourself. She helps with general and specific things,but only if its obvious you need help. Otherwise, its up to you to make your papers better (you have to find your own faults). And yes, she's a tough grader, but personable and generally helpful.

Extremely fair and engaging. Really makes you feel like a peer rather than a student. She will give you extensions on papers if you provide a legitimate reason and she would consider any topic equally and give you her advice. Her paper prompts are sometimes difficult, but she works with you to create a great paper. A hard but fair grader.

This is hands down the best professor i have had. Not the easiest grader, but she has no limits in helping you. She really loves teaching and really wants her students to do well. The readings are not bad and there is not much in class or tedious work. I thought i would dread this class, but because of her it is my favorite. THE BEST!

Fantastic professor! She is really great about making time to answer questions and schedule conferences. Very willing to let you adapt an essay prompt to fit your strengths. Kind of heavy on the reading, but if you at least skim it you'll be ok.

She is extremely helpful. She is genuinely interested in what you have to say and will offer her own opinions on the subject. If I was to criticize her I would say that she sometimes humors students who don't make too much sense, but that's not always a bad thing. I loved this class.

I had her for an upper level writing class and shes fantastic! She assigns interesting classes and the discussions are cool. Peper grading is harsh though, but she meets with you to improve your papers all the time.

Holmes, loves to talk. She is very friendly and listens to your concerns. Changed the class schedule many times according to our needs and didn't overwhelm us too much. She is very clear in what she likes. However, she is a pretty tough grader. LOVES to give B+'s and is pretty stingy with her A's. Attendance is mandatory so go! Recommend her!

Professor Holmes was by far my favorite professor freshmen year. While she is indeed a very tough grader, the information you take away from her class is staggering (in a good way). She is always available to meet with her students to discuss papers, speeches, or anything. I highly recommend her!

Prof. Holmes is AWESOME. I was only taking the Rhet 130/131 classes because they're required core classes, but I ended up LOVING the class. She made me gain interest in the subject and well let you bend/personalize her assignments if you explain to her your ideas and is very helpful. She was the best professor I've ever had.

Professor Holmes is my favorite teacher in USF. I took both of her Rhet 110 and 120 class. She is extremely helpful and enthusiastic. She is definitely not an easy grader, but she is fair. If you need help, don't hesitate, just go to her office hours. She will be glad to help you.

She was my favorite professor this semester. She cares A LOT about her students. She goes above and beyond to make sure that everyone is comfortable and she is more than willing to offer extra help and clarity. Her class was interesting, relevant to everyday life and enjoyable.

Wonderful professor, if you have the chance to take her course go for it 100%. One on one time helpful, understanding, and really tries to get to know each student's strengths and what they can improve on. Plus, the grading's fair and she is usually willing to look over a paper/speech again with you or help prep for the next one.

Professor Holmes was one of my favorite classes last semester. She is very helpful and clear with what she expects. Grading wise, she grades pretty hard for papers but not as hard for the speeches. Work ahead of time and ask her for help before hand and she's super willing to help. Glad I had her!

By far one of my favorite professors last year she was super kind and understanding and really cares about your learning and is super inclusive. I remember the essays were graded hard though I went in for office hours and everything and even when she said I had good work it would barely be a B letter grade.

Professor Holmes was one of my first teachers as a freshman and I'm glad she was! Don't buy the textbook if youre in public speaking--not worth it. Just show up, do your speeches, and you'll do fine! Definitely recommend her.

The course itself was less fiery debate than it was an open space for class discussions and growth in public speaking. Prof Holmes gave time and room to develop interesting, personal work. i'm so glad i took her class! i hate public speaking but she made the class environment welcoming. you're mainly graded on your essays and speeches (2-3 each per semester) with 1 quiz. she does take some time to give back grades, but she does write good feedback on them and she's always open for office hours. i can't recommend her enough!!

I took Dr. Holmes for my Public Speaking Core and she is amazing. Very easy class for core, and you will actually get better at speaking! There are three speeches and that is about it. She does want you to come to class, but there are 5 "no questions asked" absences. A hilarious and quirky prof, she tends to be accommodating and cancels class often

I loved taking Prof. Holmes class!!!! She is so caring and sweet and funny, and her assignments are genuinely fun. Topics are somewhat free-for-all and she totally gives students the space to talk about what they're passionate about, and she's very thoughful with her feedback too.
