He really is a great professor. The readings for class take on average 2-3 hours a chapter. (one chapter a week) Reading quizzes are online. He is very passionate about this subject and gives very interesting lectures. Class discussions are helpful. He is very student-oriented and wants them to succeed. Also very funny.

My favorite teacher of this semester. Everyone Loved him. He knew his subject well and knows how to teach it. Lectures are clear and easy to follow. Tests are simple and straight forward, just be sure to study the PowerPoints he provides. Fairly easy class, but studying for tests is required.

Honestly, taking his class is the best decision. He has upwards of 400 students each semester, and sometimes 4 classes in a row teaching the exact same thing, but he still keeps everyone engaged! I'm pretty sure that his inspirations are Jack Black and James Cordon. 80% exams, 20% quizzes - one per week on the reading. He's hilarious, but rational.

The more people talk the better discussion and you learn so much! He's very funny, keeps it really spiritual sometimes. Loves to answer questions.

Brother Marrott is a funny dude. From day 1 he'll stress how he makes exams only from the powerpoint. Don't be fooled... do the kind-of mandatory reading and take the open book unit quizzes so you understand material. Then enjoy the omnipotent powerpoint slides and free exam points from written-in jokes.

I enjoyed his style of teaching, it is more about applying and understanding the material. This is harder than memorization, but is so much more meaningful. I recommend study groups, taking good notes, and actually doing your work. Even through zoom, this class was engaging!

Brother Marrott rocks! He has strong knowledge of psychology & a wonderful personality. On the flip side, his exams are impossible. The only resource you have to study is his PPTs. The information in the PPTs are for his teaching recall. e.g. (Number 1 predictor? -Lost). If you do not take perfect cookie-cutter notes then your chances are slim.

Brother Marrott is an amazing teacher! I absolutely love his teaching style which he doesn't make you memorize definitions, he used a lot of examples and The Network Attribution Theory. Your grade is heavily weighted on exams (70%) and 30% on quizzes, I recommend recording his lectures because that's where all the test info comes from.

Super great teacher and very great class. I took it from 7 to 10 pm and was pleasantly surprised to find it to be one of my favorites and most educational classes. Definitely worth my time and any student who is willing to pay attention.

Professor Marrott's class was a great experience. I took the 7:00-10:00 PM class and loved it. It is nice to only go to class once a week and the lectures flew by as they were very interesting, had great discussions, and were filled with humor. This class is easy to get a good grade in if you go to class, take notes, and do the assigned readings.

I had his 3 hour night class from 7-10 pm once a week. I was worried I would have a hard time concentrating but Brother Marrott is engaging and cracked jokes the whole time. He knows when things are confusing and clarifies well, he wants you to understand. The class was hard work but extremely rewarding. Take notes, pay attention, and study :)

I had his class once a week for three hours between 7 and 10 pm. His class is based on lectures, there is an open-book quiz every week, and closed book tests every other week (they each cover 2 chapters) If you pay attention, take good notes, and know how to study you will do well. He prepares you well for the tests and sometimes he curves them.

Brother Marrot has a great sense of humor, but a really strict your grade is your responsibility policy. This is an introductory class but it contains a lot of information. The teacher will help you, especially if you come prepared to class.

Brother Marrott is so real and isn't afraid to talk about hard topics, which I LOVED. He also has very interesting and engaging lectures. The only complaint I could think of is he has no tolerance for late work, which is fine because there aren't a lot of assignments to keep track of.

Brother Marrott is the best professor I've had. His teaching style focuses a lot on being able to apply the information learned. He lectures are long but by far the most entertaining I've heard. He gives an exam every two weeks but as long as you take good notes in class you can pass them easy. I also recommend taking his quizzes as a group.

If you don't go to class and only read the text book you will not do well on exams. 70% of your grade is exams and the other 30% are quizes from the text book.

Exams every 2 weeks covering 2 chapters each, quizzes over textbook are open note/book and once a week. Offered 2% extra credit at the end of semester for scoring 70% or higher on an extra credit exam.

Showing up is more important than excessive studying outside of class. Taking notes and reading the Powerpoints is a majority of the studying you'll need to do. His TA does grade really tough on some of the assignments but all you have to do is bring it to his attention and talk to him about it and he'll change it.

The tests were difficult because we're told to study what's marked red on his powerpoints but some of it was not on the exams and info that was not marked red was on the exams. The tests were not easy and heavily based on the lectures but as long as I paid attention and took notes I was perfectly fine. I had to retake this course 3 times due to life complications, and I could have picked any other teacher for General Psychology, but I was determined to have him as my teacher. As long as you set the time aside to do the quizzes (I recommend doing them the week before) attend class and take good notes, you'll do great! Find a study buddy!

I liked how this class was set up. The reading was required to be done before we discussed it as a class (2 exposures to material), and studying for the exam gave a third exposure. That really helped the information stick. The class is very lecture heavy, but I do feel the lectures and material studied really prepared me for further classes.

Marrott is a pretty great teacher. Good at getting laughs, and covers reading material well. The tests in this class are lecture-based, but sometimes you'll get thrown a few exam questions where you'll be completely stumped. Typically fell just short of an A with most exams. I think he likes to hear himself talk sometimes, but mostly bueno.

I was given a special exception to take this class when I did, it was a great idea for me but this class is not the easiest, the exams are all from the lectures. The papers are not terrible and in hindsight very helpful. I would be wary of taking this class if Thomas. H is his TA. If you work hard you can get an A- or an B+ but it takes work.

Great professor but very hard to get an A. His tests are very difficult. Lots of reading for homework with a single quiz each weekend. Homework is manageable but takes some time each day. His grading criteria is 30% quiz and 70% exam. Only take this class if you're very good at taking tests and taking notes based on lectures.

I loved this professor, there were no assignments except for participation in one case study of the upperclassmen. you read a chapter of the textbook every week and are quizzed on it but you really only read it for context. exams are purely lecture based so it's highly recommended that you go to class and take notes but he doesn't take attendance.

This professor is one of the best ones that I have had here at BYUI! He knows how to bring the gospel into every one of his lectures and makes the classes fun. The tests are not hard as long as you go to class. He gives some of the answers in class and allows you to have a 3x5 card in all of the exams. The final is not comprehensive as well.

I really enjoyed his Psych 111 class. He goes on tangents a lot during his lectures but you still learn the material. The online textbook is about $80 and it's used for the reading quizzes. You get tested on two chapters at a time on the exams, which are in the testing center. There is no final though.

This was honestly the best teacher I have ever had. You can tell he is passionate about the subject as well as very knowledgeable. I can not stress enough, if you get a chance to take a class from him do it. Brother Marrott is so passionate about psychology so if you pay attention in class and study normally, you'll do well. He is intentional about looping everything back to the gospel. That being said, sometimes he goes on long tangents but you'll live. Honestly you'll cackle taking some of his tests because he incorporates a lot of humor.

I needed Psych111 for nursing and it wasn't a topic I was super interested in, but he made it interesting. The tests followed what we learned in class pretty well, and we were allowed small note cards which I always packed tons of info onto, which helped me lock in information and stress less for the tests since I could check lots of my answers.

Incredible professor. Pragmatic, charismatic, and intellectually versatile. His rules are very no-nonsense because he is usually teaching a few hundred students per semester, so don't expect exceptions on grades or emailing him about late work. Otherwise, one of the most enlightening classes I've ever taken, and it was because of Bro. Marrott.

Brother Marrott was genuinely one of the best professors I have ever had in my entire life. He makes psych SO interesting. Im a bio major but I was interested in class every single day. He genuinely cares about you and wants you to succeed. Quizzes are open book and you get a notecard on tests. BEST PROF EVER!! take him!!

Brother Marrott is amazing!! His class is very lecture heavy, but he is so good at what he does. He makes the lectures fun and engaging. He is also hilarious and sarcastic. Overall such a good professor. Make sure to take notes and study the book for the exams, the only homework you have is taking an open note quiz based off of the readings.

PROS - memorable lecturer - Relates Psychology concepts to the Gospel EVERY CLASS! - He cares SO much about you! MEHS - Grade is ~70% based on (non cumulative) unit exams. This means you need to take good notes, and review them before & after every class. If you do this, you can do WELL!! If you don't know how to go to study skill ctr TAKE HIM!

Brother Marrot is so funny and caring. His lectures are super interesting and based on the exams. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW IS IN THE LECTURE. Grades are mostly based on exams: there are 6 unit exams and no final. Additionally, there is hardly any homework, and he offers extra credit. TAKE GOOD NOTES and you will pass!!

Skip class? Won't pass. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it is built into his lectures. He'll say "x is on the test, y is the answer," and if we weren't there, we didn't know. Things about bull sharks even. His lectures are amazing, engaging, entertaining, and enlightening. It is not not clear what should be studied for the exams
