he gives 50 bonus pts just for attending every day. he lectures and gives reviews before the tests but his tests are NOTHING like the reviews. i came out with a B, but only because of the bonus.
He's a pretty good teacher. I am not good at Chemistry and I passed with an A. At LSU I took the first Chemistry and got a C. Once you get used to his teaching style you should do well. He offers a lot of bonus opportunities. If you don't understand something he's willing to help out.
Makes it as clear as organic can possibly. Fun class, great learning environment.
His style of teaching organic is very straight forward. Organic is tough to begin with, but he makes it much easier than other professors. His tests come from the problem set he assigns. Great teacher.
his class is very boring.
Great teacher! Very understandable and teaches the material to where you understand it!
unorthodox teaching style, but is effective when your learn to understand him. Constantly gives bonus opportunities. If you aren't good at chemistry, your grade is directly proportional to how much effort you put into the class.
Very helpful and teaches a class in a college way! He doesn't help you unless you help yourself!
He does not teach, he lectures and does not even like to do that. His main goal is to figure out how to have the class online so he can do other things. He gives contradictory instructions so you better get it all down in writing or you will be burned.
Dr. Logan is an outstanding professor who displays a strong passion for his job. He goes above and beyond to help students better understand course material by implementing a lot of self help tools and one on one meetings. During the semester he continued to reach out to help students. This is a professor of pride and selfless service.
Dr. Logan bases his class on participation. If you show up and do the work, you will pass. Also, there are plenty of bonus opportunities. I don't like that the homework was online, but that makes it easier to keep up where your grade is. He isn't as professional as some teachers I had in the past, but very friendly and easy to get along with.
Mr. Logan is a wonderful teacher. He is very helpful and he is straight forward. He gives you alot of bonus oppurtunities. He is willing to stay after class and help you.His teaching is straight forward and he makes up his own test so its not bad at all. He is a great teacher and you won't be sorry you took him!
HE gives you a bunch of bouns points only if you go to class and follow the guidelines of the sylabus. YOU MUST LISTEN in his class. IF you don't listen 100 percent of the time you will get lost or confused. He is a good college teacher who only ask you to put in the work.
he is a really nice teacher. also very fair teacher. grades come from a variety of things. OWL isn't so bad...He is definitely worth taking. He is not out to get you...only interested in helping you.
Slightly rude. Not professional. Unorganized. Personality often came off with an attitude.
Very good chemistry teacher. Gives a lot of chance for bonus. Highly recommend for chemistry!
The class was certainly not a breeze, but Dr. Logan teaches very practically and presents lots of problems in class. He's very available to help you and relays the material very clearly. His tests make you think critically, but again if you take time to study, they are not impossible. I thought he was a great teacher.
He taught me organic and while this obviously is not an easy course he did problems the entire class to help you know what would be on the test. He also gave bonus which helped a lot as well. I really enjoyed him as a teacher
Professor Logan is the greatest chemistry instructor at BRCC. I do not think I could have passed without him. He uses a bunch of examples and problems to clarify what he is explaining. This is still a study intensive course, and if you have questions make sure to come to his office. Do all the homework, even the optional from the book assignments.
His class was very interesting. He is very friendly and you can ask questions anytime anywhere, especially he is very helpful when you go to his office. Work load is about right. I got an A+
Good teacher- made the class interesting and explained the material well
Dr. Logan is a good teacher, nothing special he does the math in class and has students read at home. The chemistry department at BRCC is jacked up but its not his fault. Lots of bonus to be had. His true passion is Organic Chem but he does a good job of teaching 102. This is not an easy class, but did you expect Science major chem 2 to be?
Dr. Logan is very straight forward with the material he teaches.Every tool is available to help his students make a good grade in his class. He is always availability to help, but expects his students to put the right amount of effort in as well. Dr. Logan wants to see his students succeed. Organic chem is a hard subject and requires hard work.
DR LOGAN GETS RIGHT TO THE POINT. HE SENDS OUT THE CLASS SCHEDULE BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS SO YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. HIS TEACHING STYLE WAS A PLUS BECAUSE IT ELIMINATES WASTING TIME,IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT'S GOING ON IN CLASS GO TO HIS OFFICE. HE SINCERELY HAS YOUR BEST INTEREST AT HEART. THERE'S NO REASON YOU SHOULDN'T PASS HIS CLASS.
Dr. Logan have his unique teaching style, which is concentrated on example and exercise. YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK!!!!!. once you get used to it , his class will be easy
Dr. Logan is a difficult man. He does as little as possible when teaching students. He claims that it is to help them learn on their own, but in practice, that is just his excuse to not get involved. Tests are overly difficult due to poor wording, and he is arrogant and condescending when lecturing or when approached for help during office hours.
Dr. Logan is a very helpful professor who gives you all the information necessary to succeed in his class as well as outside opportunities for help from him. He gives bonus points constantly and will help you in any way he can as long as you want help and are willing to do the work.
he sucks! you basically have to teach yourself the entire subject matter!!
Do not take Dr. Logan, if at all possible. If you are transferring to LSU, wait and take Organic Chemistry there. Dr. Logan tests on lecture information that he does not teach in lab class. In some cases, the information is not even in the textbook. He deliberately fails a certain number of students "because too many have good grades."
Dr. Logan wants students to do well, but you will get the grade you deserve. He will not hold your hand, you must put in the time and effort. Take advantage of his office hours and bonus opportunities. He does not cover everything in class but focusses on the most important things, if you read the chapters on your own, you should be fine.
He's not bad for CHEM 102, but his organic chemistry class is a killer. He tells long stories about how his college professor did him wrong, so he had to teach himself, but he does the same bad things to his students. He only shows simple example problems, without theory or explanation, but his tests have complicated problems that involve both.
Not a good teacher. He knows a lot but he can't teach it. Not helpful at all, he answers questions by saying if you don't know that by now you should have dropped when you could. He's a hard grader on both of the tests and on the lab reports.
Dr. Logan is not the type of professor to hold your hand and baby you. Organic is not an easy course. You have to work for your grade. bonus opportunity and office hours are given. This course has been one of my toughest courses but by far my most rewarding. I did not start off a strong student. i had a f/t schedule, and made a 4.0 w/ this course.
Dr. Logan is the worst chemistry teach I have ever met. He doesn't teach the material that he uses in this tests. Out of the 40 students in Orgo I, 8 were taking it for the third time, and 15 for the second time. He does out of his way to make sure a certain percentage of the class fails, and he says that out loud to the class. NOT RECOMMENDED.
Dr. Logan knows the area of chemistry very well! His test are all multiple choice which was hard for me to get use to since I was a visiting student attending BRCC for the summer, and not use to this test taking style. However, if one reads and takes time visiting him in his office hours it will improve grade.
Very good teacher. Straight forward and he goes straight to the point. He likes his students to pay full attention in class. He gives a lot of opportunities to get bonus points. My advice is to pay attention to every detail he goes over in class because that will help you succeed in the class, and of course study many days in advance for his tests.
He has a to-the-point teaching style and covers everything efficiently and with examples. If help is needed post class, he is more than willing to answer questions if you visit his office, allowing you to do as well as possible. The class is based on how much effort you're willing to put in, as the help is there.
Dr. Logan is thorough with explanations and will do anything to help. He's very nice. Tests don't have many questions so since there is less room for error, studying more than usual is necessary.
Dr. Logan is a good teacher and great at helping students in and out of class. Short test though so you can't make to many mistakes.
Dr. Logan explains things very clear and is good with helping students in and out of class.
Dr. Logan is very helpful in and out of class, and good at explaining things.
Dr. Logan is very helpful in and outside of class, he is also very good at explaining the subject at hand.
Dr. Logan is very good at helping students in and out of class, he is also good at explaining the subject at hand.
Dr. Logan is a very good teacher he breaks down everything from the beginning to the end. He is also great at helping students in and out of class to make sure that you understand the material as well as succeed. His lectures are very informative and helpful. I would personally recommend Dr. Logan for any Chemistry class that he teaches.
Dr. Logan has a very direct teaching approach. His lectures are usually interesting and easy to follow. He encourages students daily to take advantage of office hours for any additional help. I will be taking Dr. Logan for my future chemistry classes. Definitely recommend!
Dr. Logan explains things very well and is good at helping his students in and outside of class.
Dr. Logan is a good teacher, very helpful & nice. He explains everything in ways so that one will understand. All test are multiple choice. You must read!!
Dr. Logan is a very enthusiastic teacher and makes learning chemistry fun. His lectures are geared toward the test with similar questions and his in class group quizzes help you prepare for the test. Take advantage of his office hours and bring PowerPoint’s to class to follow along with lecture.
Chemistry 102 with Mr. Logan is not an easy course to take. If you want to do well you have to be willing to work hard. Mr. Logan encouraged us to see him if they needed help, but he only can help to a certain extent, you have to do the rest and practice and study daily.I don't think Mr. Logan is a bad instructor, but his class is a challenge.
Very Helpful and works out problems
Dr. Logan is very knowledgeable in chemistry. He explains things in simple terms and always tries to help students understand the material. Tests are mainly lecture based, but the book is needed for some material. Dr. Logan makes time to see students out of class to give them extra help if it is needed.
Dr.Logan teaches very thorough and he will answer any questions asked regarding the material. All of the material that he teaches in class are important so it's best to attend class and pay attention. His material comes straight from the book so READ THE BOOK.
this is not an easy A class but Dr.Logan will help you as much as he can, as long as you are willing. His material comes straight from the book so reading the book is a MUST. If you want to learn and understand the concept to chemistry, take Dr. Logan
Dr. Logan is very direct with what he expects out of his students. The class is not easy, but if you put the time in on the material, you will pass.
Prof. Logan is a great professor. He is helps students to actually understand the concepts not just skimming through power points. His class is not an easy and requires hard work but he is also always there to help. Overall I would definitely recommend his class.
CHEM 102 with Dr. Logan is the type of class in which you will have to work for your grade and he will help you with any questions that you have. That is if you ask him. He says attendance isn't mandatory but you DO NOT want to take that chance because everyday counts, grade wise. And don't put off understanding the concepts to the last minute!
Dr. Logan encourages us to get help but his class is not an easy class it takes a lot of hardwork, dedication and determination to make it through his class.
Dr. Logan is a very tough but good teacher. He thoroughly goes through the notes and clearly states what will be on test. Dont underestimate his test though very tough. But overall good teacher.
Awesome teacher and teaches all the information thoroughly. Goes over problems in class. You definetely have to work for an A. Only bad thing is there are no excused absenses.
Great teacher and will to help.
Great teacher and willing to help
Dr. Logan is a great instructor. He gives specific examples in class and his expectations are clear. Expect group and individual in-class quizzes regularly.
Dr. Logan is a good teacher. His class is hard, and studying is mandatory to make a good grade. He is always willing to help out!
Very good teacher willing to help must go to class to pass
Very thorough, teaching style require lots of self motivation. While nothing is mandatory for his classes, success is not possible without extensive homework/study/suggested problems. Is very willing to help students who put forth effort in his class, while he has very little patience for those who do not. Has a great sense of humor.
The class is based on how much effort you're willing to put in. If you require some help he has office hours and is more than delighted to help. His teaching style requires you to read and put forth effort, like many college courses should be taught. There are plenty of suggested assignments for those who require more resources.
Best teacher i have had since starting college. I moved to LA, to attend LSU, but after taking him for general chemistry I decided to stay at BRCC. Now having had Professor Logan for Organic 1 and 2 I can honestly say he is the best teacher ive ever had.
Great professor! Very knowledgable about organic chemistry! He is very understanding with his students. He gives opportunity for bonus and offers extra help outside of class if needed. He offers all tools necessary to ensure his students success. the rest is up to you. This has been my most difficult course by far but most rewarding.
Very bad teacher. Evasive answers and never goes straight to the point. He likes his students to struggle in class. He does give opportunities to get bonus points, but only if you agree to an odious syllabus on the first day of class. Pay attention to every detail in the book 'cause he does not cover things in class that you need for his tests.
He has a confusion teaching style and covers things poory and with bad examples. If help is needed post class, he will answer questions in an incredulous monotone voice if you visit his office, making fun of you if you missed something he thinks is easy. The class is based on how much effort you're willing to put in, as little help is there.
Dr. Logan is teaches through examples rather than theory and will do little to help you understand things in class. He's not very nice, and will mock students who are slower than the majority. His tests don't have many questions so, since there is so little room for error, studying more than usual is necessary. The tests are not like the examples
Dr. Logan is a terrible teacher. He does nothing to help students in class. His lectures are not very informative do not cover the range of the subject. I would not recommend Dr. Logan for any Chemistry class.
He is one of the greatest teachers that I ever know. He calms down to explain the lecture and come out with the best explanations. He will make sure you participate in class, and He will teach you as chemistry is your real life. He is the greatest gift you can have for your chemistry success. Take Logan for all your chemistry.
Worst college instructor that I have ever had. Do not take unless you already know chemistry.
The class requires an insane amount of effort. He has office hours that are the only time he'll actually teach things. His teaching style in the classroom is only simple examples. He deliberately omits certain cases unless you go to office hours. You will fail this class unless you are willing to humor him about office visits.
Wow! Fantastically difficult teacher, especially at the beginning. I think that he considers Orgo I to be a weedout class. He certainly does not go out of his way (in any fashion) to make it easier to learn or to help out students.
Dr. Logan was great at making sure we knew the concept of the work. I would recommend others to take his class if you want to get an easy approach to a hard concept. I liked having him as my teacher and help me bring my grade rise two letter grades.
Amazing class. It is quite difficult but if you ask for help you will receive it. Not a class you can just show up for the exam and do well.
This teacher has a tough exterior but underneath he is extremely caring and kind! He hates slackers & does Not give out easy grades, so just prepare to work hard! It is imperative that u visit him in his office hours (go over probs or just chat!) Also, he DOES offer private tutoring. It can save your butt and will better your relationship with him!
Teaches like a drill sargent. It gets old fast and he gets bothered with common sense answer replies. Some people put up with it and did alright, but majority left. 1 maybe 2 stars out of 5... Wont be taking him again thats for sure.
I do not recommend others to take his class unless you want a good war story. I hated having him as my teacher and made my first C in his class. He only teaches specific examples, and his tests are not like his examples. He explicitly states that he does not care if his students pass, and his syllabus and emails are written at a grade school level.
He is a tough teacher and expects you to read the book and ask questions in his office hours...he will help you if you ask for it and he knows you are trying. He has quizzes on a weekly basis to make sure that you know your material (they can hurt you in the long run if you don't) I think he is a very good teacher and pushes you to succeed.
Logan is real. He's here to teach the students who are determined to do well academically. He's hard, but easy. Do homework, Mastering Chem, and read the chapters. Most of test questions come from the book. If you read the chs the tests are easy. He will help you at the end of the semester if you've put in the effort. Logan's a pain but hes awesome
He is a terrible teacher and expects you to visit for office hours rather than just teaching you the information in class. He spends all class time on examples that are not like his tests. He will insult people who can't answer questions in class. I think he is a very terrible teacher if you succeed it is despite him, not because of him.
Warning! Bad professor! Very knowledgable about organic chemistry, but he is very unforgiving with his students. He has it set up so you have to agree to his personal terms for bonus points. He solves some simple problems in class, the rest is up to you. This has been my most difficult course by a country mile. Too bad he's the only game in town.
He's an arrogant person. He'll ask you a question and make you feel bad if you can't answer it. He doesn't teach everything that will be on the test, but he'll ridicule you if you ask him what will be on the test.
Almost content free teaching style requires lots of self studying. Success is not possible without extensive homework/study/suggested problems. Is not very willing to help students who ask questions in class, yet has very little patience when you go to his office for help. Jokes and laughs about failing people and how it doesn't bother him at all.
Dr. Logan relishes in failing organic students. He demands unwarranted respect yet affords none to his students. What little he teaches in class he will not put on his exams. He harps about going to his office yet when you do he will be unwilling to help. He will mock you and make you feel inferior at every turn. Worst professor I've ever had!
Worse college instructor I've ever had. Bad attitude and doesn't really teach.
Dr. Logan is without doubt the WORST teacher I've ever had! Nothing he teaches in class will be on the test! He harps on you about seeing him in office hours but when you go, he does not help! He mocks students when they can't answer questions, and laughs about others failing! Do NOT taken him, Dr. Miranda is MUCH better!
Terrible instructor. Snarky in class. He'll tell you to go to his office hours, but he won't help you there either. He will definitely insult you if you ask a question.
Just do the mastering homework, pay attention in class and your quiz, you will have high grade.
Chem 102 is not an easy class. But Dr. Logan does everything he can to make sure you can pass. Go to class, he will teach you tricks that are much easier than the way the book teaches it. He provides a practice test before each real test that are extremely similar.
His lectures were a bit much. I was confused most of the time but not due entirely because of him. Attend class you won't pass unless you do. The book not much help. Having the mastering homework really helped my grade. If you stick it out he will help you at every turn to get the grade you need. I like him better than the other chemistry teachers.
He is all about the office hours .. you will not pass the class unless you go to his office. It seems he's more about being one on one than actually instructing his class ... this is from someone that passed
Really Hard class and he doesnt care about you, like at all would highly reccomend not taking.
Probably one of the toughest courses I've taken yet, but of course it's chem 2, expect it to be tough, overall he gives you enough information for you to do your outside studying and homework, just do and study the homework and you should be fine, overall again I thought he was an alright teacher, not the best, but not the worst
I really enjoyed this class, and it was the first organic. That says something. I'm definitely not saying that it's easy, because it isn't. You have to memorize and study a LOT. But he makes class very interesting and fun. His tests are tricky! Memorize class lectures. I would take again, and actually plan to take the 2nd organic with him.
I've taken this course online. Participation is a must. Not a fan of how the rules for participation are set, such as discussion boards and posts have to a certain number on certain days. Pre tests and the final tests are not the same. You really have to study everything because the test may or may not have all concepts included.
Dr. Logan knows his stuff but is not helpful. He is all about office hours and when you go, he is still not helpful. You have to basically teach yourself and he is not approachable at times. Would not take him again, he has a cocky attitude!!!
He is a poor professor. He doesn't explain the material. His office hours are a joke. He doesn't help there either. He claims he's strict, but its really he doesn't care if you understand or not, even if you are really trying to understand. You have to teach yourself. Good luck.
Logan is terrible. Does not care if you don't understand material and doesn't teach or explain material well. You will have to teach yourself. He does one or two basic examples in class. Tests do not reflect material in class and are far more advanced than what is done in class. Would be better off at LSU, SLU or Southern.
Dr. Logan is a very difficult grader. However, the fate of the student is entirely in their own hands. He gives numerous opportunities for aid and additional teaching during his office hours; he is aware of the lack of time to cover more in-depth problems that are given on the test. Not a class for those who cannot self-discipline.
Organic can be challenging and Dr. Logan is not going to make it easy for you. He is not a sympathy grader, test 1 & 2 were easy, but 3 and the final were difficult (IMO). I recommend doing as many problems from the book and seeing him in office. Whatever class opportunities he offers to make your grade better take them. An A is attainable.
I recommend Mr. Logan- he's straight forward but pushes for his students to pass. The downfall to the course was the online material- you must pay attention to the online calendar that you do not miss and quizzes. Quizzes are important. He also tells you what to study before each exam. Pay attention to the chapter outcomes and end of chapter review
I did have Dr. Logan as a professor, rather he tutored me and my fiancee in Chem 2 and ORGO 1 & 2. In my opinion, Dr. Logan's best attribute is his ability to break down the material to "my" level. He took topics that my professor at LSU spent an entire class on and explained them in 5 minutes. I would recommend Dr. Logan to any and everyone.
Avg 20 hours per week studying to barely pass the class. Ladies BEWARE he really wants to tutor you. Lec doesnt matter (even though I went) none is on exam - must read book chapters. Maybe 4 ppl passed. ton of hmrk but not for grade (hurts not helps btw) if you dont do it (aka teach yourself) you dont have a chance. He creates his own prblms
Very overall negative attitude. He began the 1st day stating how hard it is to pass the class and through the semester he constantly told students to change their major. He teaching style is confusing and does not align with the actual material in book -concerning. He stated his exam questions are expert level - he seems full of himself.
Dr. Logan is an exceptional professor. You get the grade you work for, he makes that clear from day one. He provides additional practice work and teaches exactly what you need to know. I was scared to take his class because of the ratings but I wouldn't prefer any other professor after taking his class. He's organized and knows his material.
I have made all As and Bs with the occasional C until his class. Very unorganized and seems to play around a lot and not take it seriously. He always had girls just hanging out in his office which is questionable. Seemed to care more about being liked by students. He would boast about how hard is it to pass and that he is gifted in ochem -weird
I passed with an A but I would never take this instructor aka bill Cosby again. He finds joy in failing students and gets his rocks off to making things unnecessarily hard for pleasure. Pretty sure he has lotion and tissue in the restroom with him every time he makes a circus of his class. His teaching skill mirrors his looks, awful. Ladies, run.
Dr. Logan seems like a pretty good teacher but he lost me when he would crack jokes and boast about how many students he made fail, drop, and change their major. You're suppose to a teacher to help uplift students not to tear them to pieces. He gives many homework assigments and quiezzes. Practcie problems are nothing like the test those are harder
This class felt like a joke. Only after retaking organic at LSU I realized how poorly Dr. Logan explained the concept of chirality and reaction mechanisms. His lectures emphasized ways to memorize rather than truly understand reactions. Wait to take orgo at a four year uni rather than here if possible.
Even though I was hesitant to take his class, due to the bad reviews, I still took Dr. Logan and he did not disappoint. Dr. Logan is really good at breaking down the tough topics and is very patient with his students. Do NOT be afraid to ask questions! He also gives multiple opportunities and you must show effort in his class!
Online lectures are boring and super long. Bragged a few times about how his class has made students switch their major, which isn't something to be proud of. He even made the whole class watch a 14 minute "Maturity Video" before accessing modules instead of handling issues with those students. So glad the class is over.
Tough class, but participate and watch lectures youll be fine.
Dr. Logan is by far one of the best professors that Ive taken, he wants his students to succeed, but you have to put the time & effort in his class if you want to pass your exams. The information needed is provided by him but you have to watch lectures & studyHe also gives great lectures & offer Zoom lessons to help students understand. Org Chem
