Dr. Brock is an excellect Instructor. I have done more reading books and essays then ever before, which for me is a good thing. In Dr. Brocks online course just do your assigned reading, discussion boards, quizes and essays and if you need his help he will help you. I will be taking as many online courses as I can in my future education courses.

Dr. Brock is an amazing professor! His online ENC1101 class was extremely orginized. If you do all of the assignments to the best of your ability, you will pass the course.

This teacher is GREAT, he provides timely feedback and grading. The class is well organized and there is plenty of time given to complete reading and assignments. I recommend him to everyone. This is the second class I have taken with Dr. Brock and I couldn't be more pleased with how he runs his online classes. He is very organized, letting you know what is expected of you from day one. You have 3 major essays through out the course then a discussion every week. Dr. Brock responds quick to all emails. Overall awesome professor !!!

BEST ONLINE CLASS EVER

Dr Brock rocks , line class was my first and I loved it. Dr. Brock helps you right after you contact him he is right on time. I learned a lot like writing essays read more books then ever in a short time. I like the way we got to read our peers discussions on a book we were reading at a time. I wish he was teaching ENC 1102 on line class.

I read the reviews on RateMyProfessor before I took his class and I'm really glad I chose to take it. He's fun, he's not a hard grader at all, he tells you exactly what he expects so that failing is nearly impossible and he's really helpful. I feel comfortable speaking to him and I really enjoy his class. I wish I could take it again next term.

I took ENC I with Dr. Brock in the summer, he made learning fun. I could not wait till it was time to attend his class every week, though it was a lot of work in such a short time ,but again Dr. Brock helped you every step of the way. I am taking his African American studies class in the spring i am so excited!

He was a great teacher that always followed the syllabus. He is the head of the English department so just make sure your grammar is on point. I took him for African american literature and will take him for English 2 next semester. Take him but don't miss class because he will call you out lol

If you're looking for a English 1101 or 1102 I highly recommend Mr. Brock. He's is the best and he's very easy! All of the writing assignments are clear and understandable.

Mr. Brock is amazing if you're just coming from high school or going back to school and need 1101 or 1102 better take Brock! I was a horrible writer before taking his classes my writings improved 100% after taking him.

Dr. Brock is a great professor. He's pretty funny & blunt but he can get serious if he needs to. Lots of papers but he tells you exactly what he expects and give you plenty of time to write them. He gives lots of feedback on every single paper so that the next one can be even better. If you do the work and try hard then you'll do just fine :)

Online class, a paper is due every Friday by midnight. Tough grader but once you realize what he is looking for in your papers you will be able to get better grades on them. Get ready to read a lot and write a lot but overall not a hard class. Make sure to write in third person when he asks for it. He marks off for a lot of technical errors.

Dr. Brock is very sarcastic but in a good way. He doesn't sugarcoat anything and he demands your attention. class, listen, and take notes and you will pass. Tough grader but he explains every mistake on all your papers.

Dr. B is probably the best writing professor I ever took at HCC. He's very straight forward when comes to assignments and discussion. You're going to need both the volume of the textbooks. It's a lot reading and researching but it will benefit you for the final exam. He can be critical when it comes to grading paper. But he gives great feedback

Any Vets going back to school who need to take ENC 1101 I HIGHLY encourage you to take his class simple because how well he breaks the material down it is literally impossible to fail this class he gives you all the tools to excel from the first to the last day.

Dr. D Brock is a gem! Course outline is clear. Class strongly relies on your choice of Novel. Read, complete papers, participate and sure to pass. Compare & Contrast, Persuasive, Annotated Bibliography, Analytical Research Papers. A lot of writing but you will appreciate at the end so much to learn. Group presentation. I recommend.

I took professor Brock for ENC-1101 he is the best! I took this class in the winter session which is only two weeks long. He is the best teacher you will ever have! In the two weeks he was on schedule and organized. I will take him again for ENC 1102 I recommend him big time!

I took ENC1101 at the YBOR campus. Mr. Brock is nice, funny, and his class was easy. He gives good/positive feedback on papers, and he just wants you to pass and will help you do so. If you fail his class you literally was not trying.

Thats my teacher. He does give feedback on research papers. He marked mine up. Easy to talk to and he cares I was glad he gave me a C. That other person mustve failed cause Brock is good.

I usually dont post comments but Brock is the real deal. I cant just sit here and read this lie about my fav. teacher. Dont try to do papers on your phone and check for errors. It wont work. Brock is a very good professor. He makes sure everyone understands everything that he goes teaches and he shoes that he genuinely cares.

Dr. Brock was a great professor; however, he is a no-nonsense type of guy. There is no wiggle room on late assignments, and there are no resubmitting papers for better grades. He expects you to do the work, and do it on time. That being said, I do feel I left his class a better-prepared writer, so overall very beneficial.

Honestly one of the best (if not the best) teachers I've ever had. He was not only clear on all assignments, but his classes were very enjoyable and cheered me up even when I didn't feel like being in school. You will miss things if you don't go to class, and the final exam is taken online at home. Take notes on the papers and look at his feedback!

He a really solid choice to choose as your first professor when you start college, he is clear and concise on what he wants when you turn in your papers and most of the assignments are an easy pass as long as you do your research.

If you like to write this is the class for you. If you don't like to write get ready to find new skills you didn't know you had. 5 paper total, 1 group project, and a final.

Good professor overall, but just be sure to follow the course material TO THE TEE. He will not hesitate to dock you points for so much as putting FirstName, LastName, instead of LastName, FirstName (Real example). Doesn't give a whole lot of feedback in regards to papers, so it's kind of up to you to find where you went wrong.

Dr. Brock is a really good professor. He will help you if yo need him. You can get an A on this class, but make sure you follow directions and never procrastinate. I would highly recommend getting someone to proof read your essays in the Tutoring Center to make sure everything is in shape. Grammar is strictly graded in this class.

The class has very few assignments, so there is not much work. He grades relatively easily and his grades tend to focus more on formatting and grammar than the actual content. Discussion assignments are basically participation, just make sure they get turned in on time. Note that you don't actually have to finish the book that you choose, I didn't.

Dr. Brock really is a great professor. All assignments and expectations are explained in the syllabus super clear so I never had any questions. As an online course there are grammar quizzes weekly based off the textbook and essays/discussions every other week. Writing skills are VERY important and will make or break your grade.

Seems like a pretty cool dude. His instructions for assignments are very clear but also thorough so definitely pay attention. Check for grammar and MLA errors or else you will lose points. Also make sure your ideas are clear and easy to understand. Sends a lot of emails and doesn't take late work. Not too bad though.

this professor has been the fastest grader i've ever had. personally i feel as though his grading is very fair. he sends updates throughout the semester and reminds students to stay on task. such an easy course to follow online. i would recommend dr. brock to anyone and everyone!

Professor Brock is very kind and always makes sure everyone is on track, and you can email him if you need help. His grading technique is kind of strange... You could write the best essay you've ever written, have it double-checked by the writing center, and it'll come back with a low score. Other than that, it's been a good class.

Good Professor. Tells you exactly what is expected. Gives you samples of each assignment. Not too tough on grading, but he is not just giving out 100s. Definitely a good option, and I am taking him for ENC1102.

He gave solid feedback on my work. The work wasn't very easy or very hard because he has examples of each assignment. The only annoyance was the reading, but most of it was optional. I'd recommend him to people looking for a straightforward class where you'd actually learn while still getting an A out of it.

Week by week, this class was easy to follow and complete. He had examples of most writing assignments posted and modules explaining how to do them. At max, you could get 2% extra credit, and he only used the textbook for grammar quizzes. Overall, if you want a straightforward class that you learn a bit from, take this class. Only 2 full essays too!

I took both ENC 1101 and ENC 1102 with this teacher. All the work was extremely easy as it was just a simple discussion post after reading a few readings. There were about 4 essays with a very clear rubric and examples that you can use for reference. I loved this teacher, he was so understanding, and the class was really interesting.

This class was very easy to follow and you should easily get an A as long as you follow the syllabus. This professor is very understanding and responds very quickly. I would definitely recommend this professor to everyone and would take a class of his again.

Dexter Brock is the best professor ever. He is head of the board and also a USF professor so he can set the own rules. Just makes the class easier for us. He will give you the answers to everything and basically grade papers if you actually show up to class the day before or on due date. Life lessons taught here. Respectfully, a big teddy bear.

I took his class online. He offers extra credit points when you go to tutoring sessions. I recommend doing them because they can look over your paper before you turn it in and give you feedback, and you receive extra credit points also. Its a win win. The professor is nice and understanding. Do the work and you wont have any problems in his class.

Dr. Brock was a great professor, and singlehandedly taught me that just because something was written in the 1800's, doesn't make it boring. You will have to read a full 19th century novel for this class, and your enjoyment of it is likely predicated on how much you like your novel. I chose the Picture of Dorian Gray, which I highly recommend.

Professor was very lenient when it came to turn in assignments. Also gave good feedback and was assigned homework every week. Would recommend to take him. His class is not hard at all.

Mr. Brock was a great overall professor. His assignments were clear and I had him only for an 8 week English Comp. 1 class and it felt like a 16 week class with the course load. His class was overall very easy and if you do the work you'll no doubt get at the bare, bare minimum a B.

Professor Brock is the best professor I have had at HCC. I did dual enrollment in my junior and senior years and took ENC 1101 and ENC 1102 with him. I had a fantastic time during both classes. ENC 1101 is high school English with discussions about readings. I wouldn't say I like reading, yet I found the readings interesting. Best English teacher!!

I was extremely sick the first two weeks of class, I could barely get out of bed. This was a six week course. I still managed to get an A. How? Dr. Brock wants his students to succeed and gives you all the tools and data, down to a time management table to pass his class. There is a lot of reading, but they are all worth the read. He's amazing.

If you enjoy English courses, specifically writing assignments, you will enjoy ENC1101 with Dr. Brock. He makes his rubrics very clear and sticks to them, and if you need any assistance he replies quickly and gives great feedback. There aren't a lot of reading assignments, but if you don't enjoy writing then I would suggest another teacher.

His assignments are very straight forward with easy to understand instructions. Grades according to his rubric and provides insightful feedback.

Professor Brock's ENC1101 class is manageable if you put in the work. The assignments are clear, and the feedback is helpful. I found Unstuck study super useful for study prep - definitely saved me some time.

He is the best and his class was extremely helpful. He provides a detailed grading rubric to ensure you know what to expect. He clearly explains the mechanics of essays and shares the list of activities and their submission deadlines. His feedback on essays is excellent. You need to stay on top by completing all homework and meeting deadlines.

Simple rules. Planned out lectures. You can't say you didn't know because he lets you know from the beginning, from the middle, at the time! He uses AI detection yes but with all honesty you don't need it. All you have to do is explain what the story was about and that's it. Simple and straightforward.

Easy class if you do the work. He provides a guideline of EXACTLY what he wants, as long as you follow that you will do great. loved his class for English 1 and will be taking him for English 2.

This class is literally so easy and navigable. Just completely copy the format he gives for each of the written assignments but obviously use your own ideas and writing and it's an easy A.

I took Dr. Brock's class in a 6-week period, and I highly recommend that others take his class. The course material is easy to understand, and he provides PowerPoint presentations and lectures to teach you. He also provides sample writings. It's NOT hard to get an A or a B, but you have to be willing to do the work.

I really think Dr. Brock made his class so easy to understand and pass if you read everything, it was alot of reading but not really considering its an english class. Replied in a timely manner to all my questions too. I enjoyed the class.

Lays out everything clearly, if you get a bad grade that is all on you because genuinely this is the easiest class I have ever taken.

I liked that he offered a lot of options for what you could write about in final papers which led to me writing some of my best essays on things that were important to me. The only real negative thing I have to say is that I was never corrected on the format of my essays and was just told I was wrong. Other than that he was cool and I recommend!
