she is booooring soft voice with accent
I liked her a lot. I don't see why anyone wouldn't. She is calm and willing to help. Very clear, and answers questions very thoroughly. I didn't like math until I took her class. After it, I thought Trig was very interesting, although somewhat challenging. Not an easy A though, you will have to work, but you'll also understand the subject well.
I took an Algebra class with her class for an intersession semester and got an A. She's a great instructor.
her class is just too boring.
annoying
She doesn't seem to know what she's talking about. This is an advanced math class and my previous professors I had in algebra and trig knew a lot more than her. I think I'll drop.
really boring and u cant even understand what she is saying cuz shes armenian...not being **** or anything, its just its hard to understand her...plus she doesnt explain well at all
She was a great professor, I needed a lot of help and she was willing to help. I had no problems understanding her and I'm hard of hearing. She had a lot of people who didn't want to learn and really were a pain. I couldn't see how she put up with there alwats late and not showing mouthing off at her. She was a great teacher.I would take her agen.
This is a great teacher! I lucked out having her as my teacher after being out of school 30 years. She's thorough and extremely helpful if you're having problems. She's a serious teacher for serious students and tries not to put up with undiciplined students. I wish she could teach all my math classes here!
I am very good at math, but struggled through her class. I could barely understand anything she said, and half the time she couldn't even do math right. When you would tell her, she made it seem as if she was just brushing you off.
She can barely speak a word of English, her breath stinks everyday, she is not helpful at all, i got a freakin D in her class so i have to retake it, she is no help at all!!
she had trouble with the math-don't take her
Had her for math 135 and 160. If I could've taken her for all of my math classes I would have. As a former engineer, she also gets across the practical applications of what she's lecturing about, which helps if your education/career is going in that direction.... Best teacher ever.
She speaks sloooowly and she's booooring...
She can hardly speak English, boring, and sometimes it feels as if she doesn't know what she's talking about.
I think she is the best! Those of you, who lack human, intelligence she has what is, called an accent. This teacher is cool, she just does not put up with BS from students IN HER CLASSROOM. HA! HA! All of you who tried!
Excellent Teacher. This was a hard class and she let us know day 1. If you work hard and do your homework, you will do well in her class. I wish I could take her for more classes
Good teacher, just do your homework. She gives good examples and will answer your questions clearly. She gives review sheets that are similar to the homework and the test questions, so if you did your part then you are not surprised by the info. Remedial pre-chapter wasted time and the last chapter was squished in, but it was a good class.
She is by far the best math techer at this college, but very much unappreciated - by both students and administration. If I could have, I would have taken all my math classes from her. As it was, I got to take two. She's the best, accent and all!
She does not know math very well. She is VERY hard to understand due to the thick accent.
I don't like her voice. She has a hard time explaining math. Her teaching style is boring monotonous lecture.
she is a very good teacher helps you out with everything if you think your not read for the test and she knows your not read she gives you extra time to study i recommend this teacher if you do your homework you will pass the class her accent is not bad at all from what ppl say she is cool and i would take her for higher math
ginosian is the worst teacher ever. well in math. she did not explain anything thoroughly, her tests were inexplicably hard. she is rude. does not care about her students. b4 the semester was halfway through more than half the class dropped out. i am not a slacker and i always do great in math, well that was until i had her.
She's tough and serious about the class. The lessons go by fast, the tests are hard as hell, and there's a lot of homework. Her accent is heavy, but you can still understand her. It's just the fact that everything is so fast-paced, which she can't really help when College Algebra/Trig are condensed. Not for the faint of heart. You WILL learn.
took her during the intersession very good teacher highly recommend her just do the work and show some interest in the class
She was awesome, as long as i brought her a carmel frappaccino every morning! Lol but seriously she was a great teacher and not too interesting but all her tests were easy and she didnt assign a lot of homework, but i learned a lot in her class!
Overall an excellent teacher. Willing to answer all questions and when she doesnt think you get it, she goes over it in detail. I dont particularly care for math but she makes it bearable and keeps it interesting. No regrets with taking her class.
One word Horrible, she doesn't let us use notes yet she can't even remember the formulas her self she has to use her note sheets.
she is awesome favorite teacher in avc
She is the WORST teacher I have ever had! I had Gordi and I had an A till she took over the class. Everything is so fast passed and is horrible at explaining! DONT TAKE HER!!!
She was pretty tough. She teaches very quick, and monotone. Pay close attention and study. You will do good.
She's a very tough instructor. She teaches very quickly, and the tests are a bit complex as well. It is Algebra/Trig combined. Study alot and do all the homework and you will do great in the class.
She teaches what you need to know although slackers will not do well in this class, the only reason some say she's tough it's either because they were lazy or they just dont like the suject. I wouldnt mind taking another class with her since she does teach you the things you need to know for the test, just pay close attention.
She is a great instructor (long lectures though). Not for slackers. She doesn't like tardiness and is a fairly descent instructor, except for THICK accent. Moves at fast pace. Again...NOT FOR SLACKERS!
A good professor, although the thick accent maybe hard to understand sometimes. The only way you won't pass this class is if you don't pay attention and not do the homework. The tests are very reasonable as she gives you practice test problems prior, which is basically the same concepts you will be tested on. Several quizzes, 6 tests, and 1 final.
At times could seem difficult, although she teaches you everything you need to know. Kind of mono-tone but you get past that, she teaches at a fast pace but those who work hard will do great in this class. I enjoyed her class, just take notes and do the homework and youll most likely pass. I passed with an A
She is not that bad. She grades your midterms easy. It just seems like so much pressure leading up to the midterms. She gives extra credit for each test. She skips easy steps when doing a proplem. You will pass if you do your work and get a tutors help at times.Final was easier than the midterms.
Well she is a decent teacher overall. She skims over a few concepts and doesn't have a great teaching technique, homework basically optional but HIGHLY recommended. She is a push over when it comes to test dates if you can get the entire class to ask for an extension. She is very nice, kind of strange but I would take her again.
She is very monotone and she has a very thick accent. She gets very bothered when people show up late. She skips steps and doesn't cover things that won't be on the final or test. I did not like her teaching style because she is in a world of her own. She really doesn't seem to care, but she'll answer questions briefly after class. DO NOT TAKE HER!
I'm about to finish her Math070 class and yes she can be boring but her class isn't too hard. All your work is on educo and if you need extra time just tell her. She always has makups and shes always at one of the campuses to help you. Just remember to go to class and be on time she wont be as nice to you if you dont attend regularly.
NOT GOOD- she was harassing/ violently mad at girls, and would infer that certain ones were failing when infact they were not, but was very nice and into the guys in class, she was lewd towards them at times, she grades easy on some people, so she is dishonest and unfair. She gave take home tests after she was nasty. Does not teach well.
Professor Ginosian was my first math teacher at AVC and i loved her! She was SO helpful that she would take time off on what she was doing just to help her students. YOU JUST HAVE TO GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS. She will help you do well on exams but you need to put in effort as well. I recommend you form study groups :)
Mrs. Ginosian was one of the best teachers I ever had! If you had a question about the material she thoroughly explains it. She does have an accent, but it's not hard to understand. I took this class during intersession and received an A so that should say something about her teaching style.
Not the best I've ever had, but certainly not the worst either. It was a tough class given in a short period of time. I think she understood that though, because we all seemed to get a grade higher then what we actually 'deserved'.
Did a horrible job explaining the concepts. Couldn't get over the fact that MATH 135 wasn't a prerequisite. There were questions on her test about things that weren't covered during lecture. One of the worst teachers I've ever had
Overall she is passionate about math. She does expect the class to know a lot of things that might not necessarily be known. A major problem is that it is difficult for many people to follow her because she goes through problems on the board very fast, but if you are willing to ask questions, she will take as much time as needed to answer it.
The class was very structured and the professor uses every minute of every class to teach. I felt the professor was excellent in explaining the material in a way I would understand. I bombed an early test and the professor let me retake it and I got an A. She is fair to students who try. I'm getting and A in 102 because of my foundation in 70.
Ms. Dezdemona is a nice lady and it was pretty simple at first, but once we started getting further into the work, she would skip a lot of steps. When you ask simple questions, expect to feel embarrased. She also has an accent. "The way I teach in Russia is more advanced than I do here." I just stopped going aftter mid term.
Great teacher, the way she teaches the material is easy to understand. I took both of my math classes (Math 70 & Math 102) with her and I passed the class with A's. If I'm not able to understand the section in which we're on she'll take the time to go over it again, she won't proceed with the lesson unless you understand the material.
Mrs. Ginosian has a thick accent, I think it's Russian. Hard to understand at first, but like with any other accent, it soon becomes the norm. One thing I've noticed though, is that she lacks passion in her teaching. It seems like "Work hard, get a good grade in my class, then see you never."
Took her for MATH 102, which is was easy. She does teach more complex than is probably necessary, and her accent does take some time to get used to. She expects you to understand things, and lectures without pause under the assumption that everyone is understanding. So if you need help stop her. Took for 135, she teaches higher math better. Study
Expects everyone knows and understands the material. Never stops and slows down, and shows different ways that are not necessary to solve equations, like she shows harder ways to solve them sometimes than what they really are. She is a nice lady but her accent is also hard to understand. She knows her math, but makes it pretty hard and boring.
The content was easy for me and everything was done online. But her class and lectures were extremely dull. Since everything was online, buying the book was a waste. She's not the easiest to understand either.
She's an ok teacher, but some things about her teaching made this class harder than it had to be. She doesn't teach, she just writes problems on the board and explains them and works them out. Without the book I would've had an F in this class.
I LOVED Professor Ginosian! She takes the time to go through all the steps with anyone who needs extra help. She's clear about what she expects and really cares about her students success. She has been on of my favorite teachers at AVC so far.
She is a pretty good teacher overall. She knows her stuff.
I took her for math 70 and she was a good teacher! im not that good at math and I learned here. shes nice,,, some students were very rude to her and ofcourse she would flip on them but shes great be on her good side and just do the work!
She is an amazing teacher, she writes examples from easy to hard and explains them very clearly. She does expect homework but overall she is amazing and i would take her again. Her tests are very simple, straight forward not very hard but not easy either.
If you are bad at math, do NOT take this teacher!!! Take Kenan Shahla or Michael McMillan. She does her best but she is not good for those students who have a hard time with math. If you're not understanding her lectures, she will tell you it's because you didn't do your HW. As if the homework is supposed to teach you how to do it, not her.
I took Prof. Ginosian for fall of 2015, and to be perfectly honest I did not like her at first. If you show initiative in her class she will see it! Go to tutoring, go to her office hours... Be known! Passing this class took lots of effort, but it was worth it! She is extremely generous when grading her tests. Always giving partial credit.
If you do the homework and ask questions when you are confused you will pass this class. She will answer your questions. She is a nice teacher, just be respectful. She will give partial credit if you show your work but made a mistake. She wants you to do well in the class, you can tell.
I enjoyed her class. She was very straight forward with her expectations. You must do the homework. If you show your work on tests she will give partial credit. She is a nice teacher and you can tell she wants her students to pass. Ask questions when something confuses you. She is encouraging to all who ask questions
I would definitely recommend Ginosian for high-level math. Some people say she does not explain mathematical processes well, but I had no problem following her instructions. She assigns a lot of homework, but you can tell she wants to see her students succeed. Her thick accent took some getting used to, but she is professional and respectable.
this teacher is the worst teacher ever she does not teach the class she tells you how to do it and gets mad when you ask questions. she is very rude when you correct her when she is wrong. she doesn't let u use a calculator at all do not take her unless you know can teach yourself. bought a $169 book and never used it
If you're not a fast math learner, DO NOT take her, she moves so fast, and doesn't explain anything very well, not mention how rude she is, one time i asked her for help and she told me, and i quote "You need to figure it out yourself" I've never dropped a class before, i just had to drop her.
This by far is the most difficult teacher I have taken at AVC! I would not recommend her to anyone. She is rude and lectures are taught only for her understanding, when asking questions, she does not want to help or gets mad and says "whatever". Never reviews quizzes or tests. Almost every week there are quizzes, not recommended if a slow learner
Professor Ginosian is a good teacher, she does care. She does tend to fall behind in lesson plans from time to time, then has to rush through material to catch up where she needs to be. She does have a thick accent, but after the first week you don't really notice.
no doubt the worst Math teacher at avc or at any school. i have no idea how she is still teaching. you will learn nothing starting the class and finishing it. she does not teach at all do not take almost everyone dropped the class.
She's a good professor. Her lectures are okay you just really have to pay attention to what she is teaching on the board so you can understand the material. All of the homework is basically online don't even think she checks if you do it or not
I really liked her I've taken her other math classes, and always come back. Shes always willing to help I like how she explains. For me she was a really good teacher. Tough grader though she does not give extra credit, but she gives you the chance to take the test another day if for whatever reason you can't do it on test day.
I took Professor Ginosian for 070 and 102. She is pretty straight forward with her work. You cannot be lazy for her classes. Homework usually took up about 10% of the grade, but if you show her that you're a hard worker, she will not care about whether you do your homework or not. She has high expectations and does not like lazy students.
She's a tough professor for but a good one. Not recommended for students who are looking for an easy A (especially if you're not a math major). There are about 2-3 quizzes and 1 test per chapter. Quizzes cannot be made, if you miss a quiz, you get a 0. Tests can be made up if you don't feel confident or are absent.
She has a slight accent but she is an amazing prof. she teaches from easiest to hardest. Her tests are not hard but not easy either. She is not a tough grader, do your work and she will give partial points. She gives quizzes and she is always available to assist. I would take her again!
Professor Ginosian is a horrible teacher whose methods include PowerPoint lectures and hostility towards students who dare ask questions. Doesn't care about students, doesn't care if you are passing. Her hand writing isn't readable. And she doesn't like to respond in proper time to emails. Beware of her hostility when asking questions about quizzes
Great teacher took for 65 and 70 explains very well. Makes sure students write down good notes.
She can't explain anything, don't ask questions bc she has one way of teaching: Repeating what she says. HER TESTS ARE NOTHING LIKE THE BOOK. Unnecessarily HARD. You can get the book and all her hw, but her tests will throw you. She doesn't teach complicated equations but the tests are them. And the final is worth 50% of your grade so god speed.
She goes over what you need to know in tests, and quizzes. Lectures are clear, rarely messes up in explaining, and writes nicely. Most often the online homework will include some parts of the section where she didn't cover, but the program gives you examples so you can solve it. Just MAKE SURE you actually study, and actively listen to the lecture
I never knew what a good math teacher was until I took her class. She lectures a lot but that was because I took her for intersession. She teaches very old fashioned but takes the time to be sure everyone understand. Her class was fun and she keeps you interested. Only thing is her homework assignments are a bit lengthy!
Very nice, can be very graceful in grading. However she often just wrote definitions on the board and read them aloud vs actually talking to the class and explaining it. It's not the way I learn and I spent much time out of class trying to learn the content. Expect to be engaged and ask a lot of questions if you want to understand the content.
She is so boring every time I'm in this class a part of me just dies. She has absolutely no personality. If you ask a question, she just repeats what she did and I hate it. I give up.
Where to begin with. Don't take her class if you are not good at math. Occasionally she has quizzes either every week or every other week. Tests are hard and she rarely lets the class use notes and doesn't allow people to use their books either. Homework is assigned throughout the semester and you can do it 2 ways. Doing the hw online. Or hard copy
She is a very aggressive teacher who actively seeks out students to provoke. Her homework and examples are nothing like the tests, not to mention she doesnt do review or give study guides. Will start a new chapter on one day and the next day will give a test on the previous chapter.
Professor Dezdemona Ginosian, is a great math professor. She lectures a lot but that is only because she reviews everything in great detail. She likes her students to participate and stresses you to practice outside of the classroom. She's very graceful with grading. As long as you do homework and practice before a quiz/ exam you'll be fine. :)
She a terrible math teacher. I took her for MATH128 8am course and she clearly looked unprepared for class and her attitude carried over towards her lessons. She never does any bonus problem, and classmates are clearly confused by the material she is going over. By far one of the worst math teachers I will ever have.
She teaches you one example and expects you to grasp the concept. The lectures and homework are nothing like the test. She gives quizzes every week to every other week. Not helpful when explaining the work. Homework is unnecessarily long. Her responses to students are bitter. Never taking her class again.
Great Math teacher that requires you to pay attention. if you have questions she will break down the question and will try and help. she cares for the students that care. if youre looking for a easy A this is not the teacher.
Her accent is sometimes a bit difficult but her handwriting was nice and clear. She is fast paced and the examples in class and on homework do not reflect the level she will use on tests and quizzes. I feel I learned well from her class despite all that and she will explain to and work with you if you have any issues. She uses Pearson for hw
By far, the worst math class I've ever taken, and I only passed with an A bc I took calculus in high school. She teaches old fashioned math and when you ask her for help she only repeats what she said the first time and expects you to understand it. Trust me, calc is easy and most concepts are fairly easy, she just doesn't explain it well.
Professor Dezdemona was by far the worst Math instructor I have ever had. She cut my grade from my high B, to an F for the sake of Grade Weight Changed 2 weeks before the term ended, and failed me as a student. Her tests make most of the grade, but have very little amount of questions, for they are usually out of 5, and HW is overtly long.
Professor Ginosian is all around a decent Professor. She will help students when needed and explain the concepts in great depth and detail, its just hard to sit through the lectures since they aren't very lively. She does assign lots of HW and test, but if you do good, those points will add up fast and you won't be stressed about your grade as much
Professor Dezdemona is a pretty good teacher. She goes into detail when solving problems on the board so you know exactly how to do it. Her class is a little long but she will take 30 min breaks in between. She assigns homework for every lesson but they will accumulate so make sure you do them. She also gets rid of your lowest quiz and test score!
Professor Ginosian is a very fair instructor. She's pretty patient with her students for the most part and will take the time to help if you need it. Her accent kind of makes it a bit difficult to understand her lectures and she goes through the curriculum very quickly. She uses a online app called myopenmath which made it difficult to keep up
Do not take this professor if you want to be taught by the teacher. Her lectures are long and dont even help you complete the homework. Youre basically going to be teaching yourself. Never gives feedback and takes several days to respond to emails. Will switch up policies. Bad grader. Overall bad experience with this teacher.
The way she taught the class was fast-paced, but she explained the material well and stopped to answer questions. However, when she started to use MyMathLab towards the end of the semester for the final and the last test, she didn't bother to check if the work was right and tested us on material that wasn't taught in class on the final. Stay away!
I'm gonna be straight with you & tell you exactly how she is. Basic homework based on section. Not difficult accent to understand, good lectures, beats around bush when you have a question. Doesn't respond much outside of class hours. QUIZ ARE 35MIN LONG AND TOO SHORT OF TIME TO ANSWER ALL 5 QUES. Don't really recom. if you don't have good memory.
I'm adding on from last rate. She also doesn't advise this but remember when taking her quiz to "SUBMIT THE QUIZ BEFORE THE TIME LIMIT". All your answers that said "submitted" will be erased and she will end up grading you based off of your scratch work. Again don't take it if you don't can't memorize formulas. The formulas are key in this class.
ONLY take this class if you are very fluent in math, if you do struggle with math, do not take her. She is a very respectable professor and does try to help, her accent and writing does make it hard to understand her lecturers. She goes over lectures pretty quick, and gives quizzes every week. Most students dropped out and many attended tutoring.
Quiz every week. Lectures are 2-4 rushed every meeting. HW consists of 2-5 chapters due every week. MUST attend workshops and tutoring to understand lectures. MUST self-teach! Grade based on tests and quizzes. Her office hours are best not recommended. She uses PEARSON for ebook and hw. Many students drop/W. Mentally exhausting! DO NOT TAKE!!
I enjoyed this professor, but at the start, I took her during the summer so it felt a little overwhelming at times with all the info. However, this professor was very knowledgeable, had lots of experience, and tried her best to make sure you understood. She is a nice lady who enjoys math, I recommend her if you can put in the effort to succeed :).
Professor Ginosian is a great professor! I had her over Summer of 23'. I only say 4 stars because the class started off a bit rocky, but eventually she warmed up to the class. I highly advise making a group chat with the class, so that everyone can help each other with homework. Just do the work and study, you'll do just fine. Great memories made!!
She expects you to take initiative. Meaning that students should learn independently from the teacher. If you are a student that likes to be hand held, it is unlikely that you will pass.
Tests have only a few questions on them, meaning you can't afford to get questions wrong. She never really explains how to do anything. She has a sink-or-swim mentality and gets passive-aggressive when asked questions. She at least curves your final grade. You will be teaching yourself. Unless you are genuinely good at math, avoid taking her!
She is a very smart professor but her teaching is awful. She expects you to teach yourself the formulas and doesn't explain when to really use or how to use them. I took her summer 2024 and for a 2 hour lecture she doesn't explain anything just goes over problems. There are so many better lectures on YouTube that explain it much better.
Dezdemona gave me a reality check on how hard and complex Math can actually get. The class is hard but the knowledge you will gain from it will set you up so you can pass the more advance courses easily. I recommend going over the chapter review files before a test since some of the review questions show up there. Use ChatGPT as a study utility!
I took Professor Dezdemona during winter intercession and it was rough at first. But I learned on my own along side lectures and her grading is super simple. She gives reviews for every test and they're identical except numbers are changes which I believe is super helpful for math courses. Do the reviews and you'll be fine!
Professor Ginosian is perfect if you learn best by doing lots of problems. She moves quickly through examples, but her office hours are super helpful—she explains things patiently and helps getting ready for the tests. Once she warms up to the class, she shares jokes now and then. Loved her trigonometry class in Fall 2024.
Do the homework and study guides she gives. The tests are almost always like her study guides. Also set time aside to self teach yourself the lessons too. If you're better at self study and self teaching then the class is passable but if you rely on lectures, there's better options out there. She's a sweet lady but her teaching style is iffy.
I was bad at this class but it wasn't her fault because I was rusty with the material. She is caring and a good teacher and is also very patient. I would definitely take her class again now that I'm better with the material.
