Haven't figured this teacher out yet. Seems to be sporatic. Does not finish sentences and seems to be all over the place. Hard to make sense out of what he writes on the board
Prof. Bartha is a good teacher. He is very passionate about his work. A little unorganized, but his lectures are interesting and very class involved. If you don't like being involved in discussion, take another class. He wants your input, and teaches you to think for yourself. I would absolutely take him for another class.
Mr. Bartha does not really teach you much, EVERYTHING I learned in this class I learned from reading the textbook...and he is tough with his grades! Honestly, he is probably the worst teacher I have ever had.
Good professor. I enjoyed his class very much. God an A. His class is very easy and very itneresting! He makes the subject interesting. Plays sample videos, music from the previous time periods. Knows what he's talking about. Will give you a study guide. As long as you study the material you will do good in his class.
There are many things to discuss and learn about the humanities. I got and A on all of my papers and tests in this class...because he gives a study guide to focus on the "need to know for the test" and he likes "free" writting. He is quirky and I found myself laughing (silently) at him alot. Great fun, enjoyed the class.
He is really excited about what he is teaching, and keeps the class invloved. Assignments aren't difficult, and gives a great study guide for very short tests. I would take him again.
mr. bartha for am. history was cool...he knows all about history and gives u an overview of what was happening at that time...we had 4 tests all essays and he gives u the essays...easy A
He was a very good teacher! He is very passionate about history. He gets very excited talking about it. HW was essays on Historical Questions out of the book. We were given test preps for the tests. Extremely easy to make an A in this class!
Mr. Bartha was very passionate about history, and it made it fun to attend every Tue. and Thur. I hope that I have the opportunity to take another class that he teaches. He helps with any questions that one might have, and his main goal is that you understand the wonderful world of history rather than the nitty gritty stuff that some teachers accep
Lecture based class. Pretty easy. Homework consists of five 2-page essays, which he grades leniently. A few semi-hard essay based tests, but he gives out a study guide in advance. Not a bad class at all.
Such a nice guy, very easygoing. Essay tests, but he lets you know what the questions will be. 5 essay homeworks, simple. Take him.
Excellent teacher I would advise anyone who need history or humanities to take the class with him. Exams are easy short and come with a study guide so its a cake walk. He is one of the best professors I have ever had and he is far more involved in his subjects than most teachers. Finally he loves maps and putting the subject into perspective.
Really knows his stuff, and you can tell he's extremely passionate about the subject. Easy tests, easy homeworks, and easy research paper. Good lecture based class.
Great teacher and knowledgeable. Made the class interesting. Loved the operas and movie viewing. Would take another class with him if I had to.
ONE WORD: HORRIBLE!!!!!!HARD ON GRADING!!
GREAT TEACHER...GREATLY RECOMMEND!!
intrsting lectures EASY homework guarnteed to pass and if you dont you must be extremely lazy. very passionate professor and such a nice guy.
Too easy and not challenging at all. I'm a history/ humanities major so I wanted a more difficult class that I would prepare me more for my major... But if you are an average student who just needs it to move on he's perfect. Not big on class discussions either, pure lectures and movies.
nice man. his class is boring because he lectures the entire time and plays a movie the last 15-30 min of class. however he grades fairly easy and gives a study guide that is SO HELPFUL for the tests. I made all A's on his tests. take him if you want a good grade
I am taking him for history. He lectures the whole time so I just do my math hw while he lectures. Gives you a study guide and the test is like the study guide. All essay questions. Eacy teacher if you do the stuff. one final paper.
This teacher is a nice guy, and really knows his stuff. He teaches the interesting topics and gives out study guides. JUST STUDY FOR THE TEST and state a good opinion on your paper and you will get an A. Enjoyed his lectures and movies.
Interest and nice. Used to be more attractive but he gainned weight. Maybe he got married or something.
It was a pleasure to attend Mr. Bartha's class. He is very interested in the subject and I have found that to be a necessity for a good class...duh! He is a bit overly exuberant at times, but it keeps uninterested people awake. He is also a very fair judge of history, not leaning too far to either extremity politically. I do recommend.
this guy seemed hard at first. but he wasn't to bad. i learned quite a bit from him.
He's a good professor, straightforward, and you can tell he really loves teaching history. Pretty simple class, I would recommend him to anyone, very nice guy.
Awesome professor! I have taken every class he teaches and thoroughly enjoyed them all. His passion for the subjects is infectious and the study guides make it impossible to fail the tests. His tests are all essay tests with no multiple choice, which some people don't do well. It wasn't a problem for me and I easily made A's.
Awesome History professor! Very knowledgeable. Tests are all writing, but he hands out the subjects that MIGHT be questioned, only 10, but he only asks 6. Pay attention, take notes. Very animated and fun. Highly recommend.
GREAT TEACHER, DEFINITELY WILL TAKE HIM AGAIN. EASY A IF NOT HIGH B TO ACCOMPLISH. MADE THIS CLASS FUN AND INTERESTING.
Fun good teacher. If your not a complete moron, you will be able to pass with a B or an A. Nice guy as well/.
Nice guy, makes the information interesting, gives lectures that are relevant and to the point, gives ample time for homework and papers. Show up, pay attention, review for tests and you will be fine. One of the best history teachers at SCC!
Interesting and very into his subject
2nd class with him and he has still got it! This guy is GREAT!! Must take a history or humanities class with him, you wont regret it. Papers and tests are SUPER EASY. Without effort an easy B! But read the book and definitely make an A! One passionite person about his subjects and it shows as he teaches. One of SCC's BEST!
Bartha is da man! His enthusiasm is contagious. Took him randomly but hit the jackpot. Don't hesistate to ask him questions, he encourages participation. I couldn't sleep through if I wanted to. Super cool Professor-Treat him as you want to be treated. He even helped out with an extension on a paper b/c it was due after spring break! This man cares
Took Humanities with him... he is extremely excited about everything he talks about! As long as you show up to get the review (which he always gives), you can look up the material in the book and online and do the test based on that. Very easy to pass. Great teacher, would definitely recommend.
Hmm, I am not sure what to say. I didn't think his grading was as easy as everyone said and even though we had a review for the tests I thought they were hard. But I did have perfect attendance and had an 87% going into the final and got an A in the class. He was boring and the movies were boring and Madame Bovary was boring. But I got an A.
One of my favorite teachers is knowledgeable about history/humanities/mythology tests are in essay format but if you study and care about learning the info it's easy to pass loves to answer questions, mainly a lecture class must be there to take notes- can talk fast but he teaches about the material page by page, easy to keep track if you get lost
Mr. Bartha is a very smart teacher and knows his material. He is strict with his policies, and can come off rude if you don't follow them. His class is very managable with the homework assignments even under a full time load. I have him for both HUM 2234 and AMH 2020. Would reccommend him as he is a competant teacher.
Horrible proffesor!!!!! Stay away from him!!!! I've never met such a rude person. If you want an easy A, then this is not the proffesor for you!!!!.
One of my favorite teachers at SCC. He is very passionate about what he teaches. I have taken two classes with him and would take more. He has little patience for the people who don't pay attention and make him repeat himself. He does keep class entertaining, and explains everything very clearly.
Awesome teacher! I would recommend them to those that give a crap about their education. With him, you will get what you put into any of his courses. You WILL learn from him. Very fair grading and straight forward about what he wants. If you fail his course, you probably shouldn't be in college. I would take another class from him, and I definetly recommend him as he is one of SSC's best professors.
Professor Bartha is a great teacher. I went into the class expecting to be bored but he made the subject matter very interesting and made me very interested in Opera (something I never thought would happen!) His test were 100% essay and we were given study guides prior to each exam which made passing easy. He's VERY passionate about the subject.
Mr. Bartha is a no-nonsense type of guy. His tests are ALL written but he gives you a study guide. If you do nothing in this class, be sure to know the material on the study guide and you will do well. He does not grade easily and perfect scores are impossible (99% on my final paper)! He does seem rude but he isn't mean. He's a little quirky!!
If you like learning at a fast pace, and you like history, english, and writing, then this class is for you.
This professor grades great on the Essays.A's on all. His tests are much different. He does give you a study guide BUT it is up to you to add the material that you believe he wants. Pick 4 facts about a person, you had better pick the facts that is in his head or its an F. I like him as a person, I just don't relate to the way he teaches. No 100%eve
I AGREE WITH THE LAST STATEMENT. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM TO ANYONE.
I AGREE WITH THE LAST COMMENT. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER TO ANYONE.
Bartha, although very eccentric, is a great teacher. He is open to make any material clear, and tells you EXACTLY what you need to know for the tests. He is passionate and extremely knowledgeable about music and the arts; this is a great class to take with him. He does take his job seriously, though, so pay attention and there will be no problems.
Great Professor. I would take another class with him. If you need help, ask and you will get it. If you don't, you won't.I got an A but I worked hard and earned it. I Love his passion for humanities. He made it so interesting that I looked forward to going to class. He teaches with a lot of ACTION.A+ Professor.
A great professor! Passionate about the subject, and as a quirky side. Don't be turned off by the first day! He makes the subject interesting, and you actually learn from him. He expects the book, and don't be late!
I'm not very fond of this Professor. His lectures don't have much to do with the tests, and the tests are all blue book which means it's all essay questions. His grading is also unclear. I really think he grades on his opinion completely. Especially with the papers (which is all analyzing and opinion-based material) I would not recommend him.
I would recommend this class if you're great with papers. Don't write notes throughout his lectures because you will get IDs/essay questions on a study guide a week before a test. 4 exams total, lowest grade dropped. 4 papers (analyzing a creation of your choice, last paper on a book). I passed this class with an A!
Extremely passionate & inspiring. Open to students perspectives in class in relation to art & reading even if they differ from his own. Expect essays & essay exams. Best to memorize all ID's to prepare for test. Must attend class! Wish SSC would allow him to teach mythology class. Would definitely take again. Don't spoil ending to Harry Potter!
Mr. Bartha gives four test and two papers after working hard and studying he still gave me an F for the course. He assigns two essay papers I went to academic center for help received D on papers the thing is he does not explain what he wants for answers I studied material received F stay away from This man ruined my GPA not enough communication
Seems like he would be a difficult teacher in the beginning (hes super uptight about everything) kind of different in a nerdy way BUT great professor, very knowledgeable 4 tests a semester as well as 4 papers He grades easy on the papers On the test be sure to know exactly what youre talking about. short answer response & 2 essay Qs w/ study guide
The teacher is wonderful. This class was a remarkable experience. He is very disciplined, responsible, fair, ethic, and kind. If you need a knowledgeable teacher that is respectful and nice, this is your teacher. Love his class.
He is a really nice professor. attendance is IMPORTANT. the test are essay format and You just need to write on your own words the answer. the research paper are not hard just give facts and analysis! I enjoyed this class so much, he is respectful professional and fair grading. I read the chapters followed the study guide and got an A
Very boring class. But, as long as you do your essays on time, and DON'T miss class, you'll pass... There was 5 essays, midterm, final & 1 easy project. That's it! He's no-nonsense, so if you slip up, you're screwed...
Though the Prof is passionate about his subject, he is VERY moody and UBER paranoid. He treats the class as if they were ill behaved 3rd graders. Also, he is the only history prof I have had who does not teach chronologically. He teaches in circles, then when you get the study guide, you realize he didn't cover most of it. Just take it online!
Well, many don't like him. But honestly I love this guy. Yeah he can be uptight, But i think its funny. His class is easy 4 essays and 4 exams in which he gives study guides on what is going to be on the test. Those that fail this class, are either ignorant or lazy. He loves his work and I appreciate pros. like him. Easy A if you study.
Prof. Bartha is a no-nonsense professor and treats college students like college students. He is passionate about history, kind of quirky, very energetic, and a little unorganized in his lecture delivery. BUT you will be given a study guide a week prior to tests-which is a courtesy-and if you read the chapters and take notes in class you'll be fine
Prof. Dezso Bartha is odd, but he is extremely passionate about teaching. When teaching us about Buffalo Soldiers, he started singing a Bob Marley song, of which he knew all the lyrics. He can be a bit abrupt, but he seems like a good guy. He is consistent and fair.
Professor Bartha was a good professor. He has four tests and four essays, all of which are relatively easy. He gives study guides for the tests, so I would study by making flash cards and reviewing for a total of two hours and I would receive high marks on all tests. The content in the course is interesting and he is passionate about the class.
Bartha was a good teacher. He fit as much information from the start of the class to the very end as he could and made the class interesting at times. The class was not too much work, but I would not recommend taking the class along with English because of the 6 page essay due toward the end of the course. Overall it was an easy class!
If you show up to class, and pay attention, you will pass this class easily. His tests are essay tests, but he gives you exactly what he wants ahead of time. He is very fair on grading the tests, if you give him what he asked for, he will give you an "A"
He's very passionate about history and has a funny accolade from time to time, but his lectures are very confusing. He talks in circles and doesn't emphasize the facts you actually need. However, if you make use of the study guide he hands out, you will ace his essay tests. The long reading assignments are unnecessary if you use the study guide.
Absolutely loved this teacher, he is very passionate in his lectures and very precise. I definitely recommend taking your required English classes before taking him, you will need to write short essays on the tests. He gives out a study guide before each test which is extremely helpful in preparation.
If you read through the good comments, you can see they basically all say the same thing... don't believe it, hes been rating himself for years. He has stated if everyone of his lectures throughout the semester, that he hopes well all return for another class. Trying to get students to still take him, i will never take a class with this man again!!
Easy A you just have to put up with him. He's cocky and mean. Don't bother asking for help, not only will he refuse to give it but he will be rude about it and tell you to read the chapters again. His lectures repeat the same material two or three times but it's rarely the material that's on the test, unfortunately you have to show up anyway.
Reuses to tell students our grades at any time during the semester including after we finish the class, he just says "figure it out" when we ask. He gave 2 days to prep for the final, much of his tests don't have anything to do with his lectures. Thank goodness he gives study guides or else I would have failed
You get three skips, after that its -10 points each time you miss class. Literally if you just go to class youre already doing good. I missed class one time the entire semester which just so happened to fall on a test day. he told me because I never skipped class besides that time I could just drop the test. 4 tests, 3 papers of 250 words. so easy!
No homework, 3 papers and 4 tests for the entire semester. Lowest test grade is dropped. He's a great professor, super easy going. He does have an attendance policy but the class is only an hour and 15 minutes.
I have taken him for 3 different classes... bruh is good. Easy to listen to and gives you everything you need to get an A. I would literally take him for every possible class. So easy and the classes are fun.
Absolutely no multiple choice. All his tests are writing tests and you have to know the material. He does give study guides, which is good because his lectures are long. Very long and even though he tells good stories and is passionate, he barely tslks about what will be in the tests. The chapters are, very long. Hope you like history!
He is very passionate about what he teaches, if you are a history major, you might like him. Otherwise DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR if you want an A or a B. No tests are multiple choice, 4 exams all essay and defining key terms in 3 sentences or more. Two papers, no quizzes, no assignments, grades based on papers and exams. You must read the book!
Professor Bartha is a cool teacher if you let him. He is very knowledgeable about History. I learned a lot from him and would recommend his class to anyone.
Great professor! Rambles a lot but gives you a lot of information to work with. If you take notes and pay attention the tests and papers are easy. Hes also a pretty easy grader. A lot of information though.
There are 2 essays and 4 test, but he drops your lowest graded test -one of which could be the final if you aced the first three. His tests are all essay questions, but he always gives a studyguide. Take your time with the essays, he a tough grader. I ended up getting an A, but I had to work hard for it. Not an easy A type of professor.
One of my favorite professors at Seminole, he is very passionate and entertaining to learn from!
He is passionate and knowledgeable but he is very repetitive in class and asks you to write about the same thing over and over again on the papers, which is non-sense. Be prepared to be bored if you don't like history.
At first I was scared to take his class because I heard he was a tough grader and because of the essay tests. I must say it really wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. He's very clear on how he wants his assignments and what he expects, I did well all semester and my attendance was perfect so I received an A. It wasn't an easy class though.
He ONLY lectures. You maybe have two things other than tests to help your grade. He only cares about attendance and very little for his students. If youre a visual learner youll have a hard time because he only talks and talks the wholeeeeee time. He can be annoying about attendance so dont leave early or skip class. You rarely use textbook.
Ge made a subject that can be very boring at times extremely intresting and entertaining while also using visual aids through all of his lectures which really helped me as im a visual learner. The test are easy as he gives you all the possible written response questions that are on the test in the study guide.
Passionate and entertaining in his work! No hw besides a paper every 2ish weeks and as long as u meet words req and stay on topic ur good. Reviews EXACT test questions!!! Say theres 24 questions on the review, the test will have 12 but theyre random. Write/know the answers>paste on test>easy A>exempt exam if u get As on tests. Loved this guy
Prof. Bartha is very passionate about his work. However, participation and attendance matters in this course. His lectures are heavy and are given 3 writing assignments throughout the semester. He does give a study guide for the exam, but in order to succeed you must read the material. I enjoyed him this term and would take him again.
Wasnt a hard class if you do the study guides youll pass the tests. Very repetitive and passionate about his job. Attendance is mandatory.
