He is a very helpful teacher. You will learn a lot of things from him. He will make math easier to understand, but don't let him caught you cheating or your sorry :-(
He is a good professor, I liked his class.
this class was so easy.. his exams r d examples in d book.. i did all d examples in d book and got an A.. others find him hard though,.. our class started with prolly 60 students, ended with less than 20..
Gave a lot of paper and computer homework assignments. Easy going personality, very nice, but his teaching style is confusing. Since he goes strictly by the book, you can and have to mainly study on your own.
You just have to do what he says: study! All exam problems are right off the homework. No tricks. Plus he explains everything perfectly. I wish he would write a book.
One of the most ridiculous classes I have ever taken. Soooo easy, but there were about 7 fails. I received an A. All you have to do is study. if you don't get an A you are not studying. I can't believe this was a college level class. And he lets you use a note card for notes on the final. EASY!
The only people who don't like this guy are lazy or brain dead! First, he's a GREAT teacher - he EXPLAINS everything. Then he TELLS you exactly what to study before every exam. I am not saying he's easy; if you don't study or if he catches you cheating, he'll give you an "F".
By far the best math teacher. He explains so well and doesnt move on until everyone is ready!! Veruy important for math.
He's easy if you Luv MATH. His tests are of PREVIEWED book examples - I mean all the book examples he used are POSSIBLY on the test. I memorized the problems. I got a B because I didn't do that well in his tests. He gives PC HW, w/c is a great help. He sticks to his syllabus & doesn't take roll. No extra credits. You'll get an A if u Really STUDY!
He is really good with his subject, he is patient and very clear with his materials, very helpful and always very positive person. If you need to take math 125, I will recommended it.
He is the best math teacher I ever had. He explains the process of working problems out until you unbderstand. He is very through and clear in his teaching. he does expect a paper in the middle of hte semester though. Wonderful teacher!!
he is a very nice teacher but he does only examples from the book. he doesnt go over the examples from homework. the test arent clear he doesnt have the method to teach if you want to learn it to the next class dont take him i am not saying he is a bad teacher but he is not as helpful teacher good luck
This was a hybrid course, class + online class. He has great teaching skills, he focuses on the main points of each chapter. Test are based on examples and hw, but do your part in studying. Honestly, Henstchel is one of the best math teachers in LACC, very nice and lenient.
he is one of the only compassionate math teachers i know. that said, in 125, he requires online HW, midterm/final-never mind that it's not an online class- along with his in class/book HW midterm/final. that is the bad part, but he's good for those in math 112 or 115, no online stuff then. you also have to show all work on tests, no scantrons!
Does not explain homework problems in class. Does not cater to students that have a regular 40-hr job. Too much homework and no time for assistance before test.
very good teacher. you do not need a book, he gives handouts.everything on the handouts will be on test. So study the handouts and easy "A"makes u work in groups and very helpful and nice.
Don is a wonderful & extremely helpful! If you don't like math take him he will help you until you understand! I took his Summer 105 class he was so good at helping everyone. I wish there were more teachers like him in the math world.
he expects you to live, breathe and think math for the entire semester. too much work, too much. good for those who do not have a life.
Professor Hentschel is the BEST in teaching Geometry. So far, he gives three Exams(drops the lowest one), five easy Quiz, a Final and a lot of hw. All the problems from test come from the examples of the book and hw. No trick. Also, he lets you use 3x5 index card for notes for the the last exam and final. Very helpful and easy to get an A or B!
He was the first math teacher I had at LACC that enjoyed teaching math and didn't assign work that was too overwhelming. I liked class. He's cool. Anybody that complains about him probably are lazy or don't do their work like they should. Somebody said he's unsympathetic if you work 40 hrs a week. LOL Too bad! This is college! Not girlscouts!
Excellent math teacher. explains the material step by stap so well that you will become an expert. very helpful and will help you anytime. the book he uses is excellent. step by step instructions. even a baby could learn from this professor. if you need to take math take Hentschel, you wont regret it. Would recommend to anyone.
The problem is that the scores are not accurate and doesn't match Prof. Hetschel's points in his grade book. During the semester he was constantly changing the scores because math xl made several mistakes. When I brought to his attention that I did not recieve the proper grade because of math xl he did not care. He seems nice but he doesn't care if
if u love to do hw, this is ur teacher. he gives TONS & TONSSS of hw. i can't emphasize enough how much work he gives. doesnt review test material. cumulative review on ALL tests. he's nice, but he gives LOADS of work.
He gives waaaay too much homework and expects you to know all the problems on the hw he gives, written and on math xl. Studders soo much that its hard to pay attention. Over all not a teacher worth taking. Math is bad enough, get a good instructor.
this prof. teaches clearly. he answers any and all questions. very helpful. yes, he gives more work than you can imagine and his tests are difficult even though they are taked from the examples. the online HW and online midterm along with some extreamely hard tests are what killed me. if you work and go to school fulltime u will be overwhelmed.
He explains in detail and then some. Anyone can understand him. If you do the homework you will do fine on the exams, there is a lot of homework. You need to put the time in for this class. His grading system is a little crazy but it's for our benefit.
He gave out the homework directly from the book. He goes over everything for the tests. He tries his best to get his students to grade high. But if you don't know the material you are out of luck. He tried too hard to explain some easy stuff in the early chapters and took too long on people who didn't even stay in the class.
Took 3 levels of math w/him gives lots of hw but bomb an exam & online/book hw will raise your avg. helpful wants you to succeed. Exams come from book & online quest. so if you study you're fine. Quizzes are 20 most missed EXACT SAME exam quest. so study the exam & ace quiz. Gives 2 chances at online exams print them & study to take again & ace.
i made my big mistake to take him twice and i don't understand the persons saying he is good maybe this students do not work o they just litle kids that does'not have to work like me . He is really nice person but he does not how to teach i can not b elieve how people is sayng that i think they just saying that because they don't have nothing el
Great Professor. A lot of homework, but it makes tests easier. Grading is generous. He is always eager to explain material and would never give you attitude over simplicity of your question. He has a very well organized teaching system and it works. And he's always smiling which creates a positive and pleasant atmosphere in the class.
Professor Hentschel is a very nice teacher. His teaching is crystal clear. BUT he assigns too much hw and his tests are vague. You have to really study HARDDDDDDDDD...
A baby can understand the way he teaches. Do the homework, stay in class, and have a positive attitude and you will do great. I promise.
very cool professor. He gives a lot of homework but what else would you expect in a math class at least he gives you a lot of points for it. I got an A because of hard work and completion of all the homeowrk.
ALOT of work...you have to complete chapter review as well as packets of handouts. Professors tests are hard, you have to seriously work hard and study hard to earn grade. NO EXTRA CREDIT. He himself said..."THIS CLASS IS LIKE A PART TIME JOB.YOU HAVE TO WORK HARD TO EARN YOUR GRADE." I am a A/B student and i am repeating Math 215 with him.
Head and shoulders above the rest at LACC. He is not burned out unlike others here, speaks very clearly, is patient, helpful (almost too helpful) to the slower students, demands a lot of homework; if you take notes, do the work and read the book, you will do well in his class. A keeper, which is rare.
Great pesonality, but horrible teaching. His classes are NOT designed for working students. He gives an inmense amount of homework, MathXL and paper hw. He even gives a computer test after the final exam. Wouldnt recommend him if you are actually an independent student who works.
He helps students solve math problems from a critical and problem solving perspective. Helpful! Class is easy as long as you do the homework. Every problem on the exams are taken from the homework assignments and handouts he provides students. If you do the homework, you will most likely recognize the problem on the test.
He is easy but isn't clear. He explains the material briefly. I got A+ in his class, but I had to study on my own a lot. His tests are taken from examples from the textbook and homework. If you understand math very well and willing to do additional work on your own take his class, otherwise I would recommend to take a teacher that explains.
very hard lots of homework not easy at all
He look nice, teaches pretty good BUT he is craz-y!! Because he gives A LOT, A LOT of home-works! If you pretty much know the material or if you are a busy person DON"T take him! You don't want to compromise your other classes!! Or loose you time for no reason..AGAIN A LOT of HWs!!!
really unhelpfull
if you want to fail a class i would say take this guy cause you will fail right away. everythink that he gives is double. lets say you have to take a midterm you have to take one in class and one on the computer homeworks test and is done double. his unhelpful and he doesnt teach the right stuff to students. he was spouse to be retired 3 years ago
He gives homework from the book and for MathXL; yes, twice the homework. He explains as he goes and answered everyone's questions even when it was the same question over and over again. Because he answed so many questions, we got behind and were not ready for the final.
I hate math. He somehow was enthused to teach it to people and was kind to everyone.
Pretty EASY teacher. He does give double the homework which is online and by the book. His quizzes and tests are based on online and book homework. There is no way you can fail this class. You will come across problems that you are familiar with from the homeworks. He is a chill teacher. He loves to answer questions and doesn't mind repeating himself.
The only thing difficult about this class is the amount of work. He is an awesome professor. He takes the time to answer any questions. He also gives you plenty of chances to pass the class. A lot of time is required for this class, so be sure that you make this your priority.
Highly Recommended. Professor Hentschel is an amazing professor. He gives a lot of homework and assignments, but it is also a chance to build up your grade and memorize the material. He is a great communicator and is really passionate about the students.
Math 125 is a difficult class, and I doubt most people will find it easy. Yes,he does give a lot of homework. Yes, his tests are hard. However, he's kind, funny, and helpful. He gives you every chance to do well, and if you don't, you simply aren't trying. I love how his clothes math the coming holiday!
Very good professor! Good lectures, a lot of homework, but it is worth doing, because solving a huge amount of problems is the only way to learn the material and be prepared for exams.
The best professor in the world!!..He is very patient and kind...I'm an OSS student and I got an A in his class!! Most of the work is on mathXL, it's a lot of homework, but it prepares u for the test..
Don't be deceived by the current 4.0 rating like I was! This man is NOT a great teacher. He's all over the place, gets distracted too easily & gives brief instructions on how to do the math & then moves on. He gives SO much HW all due at once on exam date that you don't have time to properly study the material & go over the old stuff he wants.
Ok! don hentshel is a nice professor! I reccomend him for lower math levels. 125 and below. I took 260 and he is not a good proffesor for this level of math. but he defenetly is a great professor for lower levels! one good thing he wants everybody to pass one bad math 260 cant be taken w math xl and it is the only thing he uses :/
WORST math prof. @ LACC. Skips steps and tries to explain way too fast, followed by his favorite saying "you should already know this". Very unclear + unhelpful. I currently have an "A" in his Math 115 and am dropping the class because I cannot learn anything from him. The tutors at LACC are more helpful. AVOID this prof. at all costs.
I took this class during Fall 13' it wasn't easy. yes lots of h.w. but drops 1 exam 1 quiz. He gives you a lot of assignments because he gives you so many chances to pass..every pt. counts!!
If it weren' forthis eacher I woulve neverbeen able to transfer. I a horrible at Math, he s heaven sent. A lot of work, but for bad math learners like myself, you need to put work!!! I did bad on all the tests :( but I did all the extra credit and did ALL my HW. That helped me learn & pass. My math anxiety is now gone. :)
Hentschel is a great professor. He happily stayed after class for as long as we wanted when things were unclear.
Professor Hentschel is a nice guy but cannot explain math worth a lick! I had to teach MYSELF. I learned more watching youtube tutorials! I only know what he's like during the summer...and if you want to save yourself some sleepless nights and tears, don't take him in the summer!! It's a very accelerated class!
Wonderful! Very passionate and teaches great tricks and shortcuts. The guy knows his math.
Online homework helped Never good at math but this class helped me speed through it and move on Even tho I got a D I could still move on to Math 125 and get my AA by next Spring If you just wanna pass the class to move on and get Math over with and your not good at math juts take this class youl pass with a C if you pass a couple of exams and do HW
This guy is awesome! He's just so good like wow
I am not going to say that he doesn't try; that's how he eluded me. He lectures like he is talking to his own self and there is nobody around; talking to him is very discouraged. He started with context from the end of book and said we had to get use to; I was so lost in his class. He doesn't see anybody in class like I said and do not interact.
He lectures terribly; you can still learn if you watch the author's video. He doesn't do anything else but resolve examples from the book, and without explaining how they relate. He ruins your grade because he gets exercises from last chapters in the first test and expect you to already know them just because he gives a handout about them.
Starting beginning of this semester I wasn't do so great because I couldn't understand the subject. Math was never my strong suit. I failed the first two tests then I asked questions all the time and this professor is greatly helpful with every questions at anytime for all of his students. I would like to have him as a math professor.
He's the man of second chance. You can get very low scores on the exams and still end up with an A. Since this is a review class, he teaches you mostly shortcuts and reviews the general stuff. All exams based off HW problems and book examples. I played games all semester long and still ended up with an A. That's how easy it was.
He's very helpful. All homework, well 98% of it is online and he gives you up to a month to finish them. He usually opens up 4 to 6 homeworks but you have plenty of time to do it. You don't even really need to go to class. As long as you're passing, he won't drop you. He's very nice and helpful. He tells you when you'll have tests and quizzes too.
Literally the easiest professor I've ever taken in my life. Exams are WORD FOR WORD taken off examples in the book and the HW. There was an incredible amt of HW, I admit, but if you can do everything on the HW, you can do anything on the exams. 5 exams + 1 final, 1 exam dropped. It's his grading system that makes it easy. My God was this class easy
Awesome teacher, if you cannot pass his class, you have no hope with anyone else.
Took this Winter 2015. 4.5 hours of class Mon-Thurs. The Professor's unique grading scale will let you pass if you put in the effort. The online homework will take up to 10 hours. Be willing to do the work!
This professor is great by all means. He gives handout with questions that will later on surely be on the test. He also drops down one of your lower test scores, replacing it with your better test scores. Do the HW on line as well because its easy points, although time taking. His lectures are clear and understandable, a trait some don't uphold.
Hentschel is wonderful. Do your homework, come to class, and you will pass. I worked my butt off for my A but I achieved it because his lectures were thorough, the homework taught me a lot and he is super supportive. His grading curve is awesome -he drops the lowest test and 2 lowest quizzes. He wants students to do well. I'm taking him again!
He's a great guy. Cool professor. I got an A and I never took notes. Just studied an hour before test. I'm a math major maybe that's why it was easy for me, but he did explain things pretty clearly. And he has a great grading scale. I wish he fought calc 3 aha
Professor Hentschel is an amazing math professor. His lectures are great and explains every math problem crystal and clear. I would take him again for any math level. He also lets you improve your scores, for example, if you're not doing good on quizzes or homework, he'll give you plenty of chances and time to improve your scores.
Professor Hentschel is a great professor. He loves teaching and is very patient. Easy "A". Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed!
This is probably one of the most lenient and fair professors. Literally curves everything and gives tons of chances to pass with an A. I don't know how some students failed this class. All homework is due pretty much by the end of the semester with no actual limit and the tests are fairly simple. He helps a lot on the final. Highly recommended.
He makes math more approachable than other professors. He points out math techniques that may be unnecessary, confusing, or time consuming, as opposed to teaching strictly what is in the book. He hands out lecture notes with tips, which is a nice touch, but still be prepared to study and do hw.
Took his class over summer, I thought I would end up regretting it but I was very wrong! Before taking this class I hated math with a passion, now I'm considering being a math major. Seriously. Beware if you're prone to slacking off, because his class is really chill, perhaps even *too* chill. Keep on top of your homework and you should get an A.
You will never regret taking his class. Grades are curved. You can fail your first 3 exams and still get an A. Exams are comprehensive. Tons of homework but it's good practice. Tends to talk the first hour of class criticizing the school system or the course book. Great teacher overall. Cares about his students. Will take him again for next level!
You will learn! Be prepared to work. Tons if homework but doable. Lecture is ok. Not an easy class unless your a math major but he encourages you to hang in and put forth your best effort. Hes willing to help you. Your next test improves your last test. Each test comprehensive. Sense of humor that not many people get. Easy to access. Take him.
This class is not easy, and it's very fast paced. Don't expect the professor to go over the material more than once or twice. With that being said, Hentschel gives u COUNTLESS chances to improve your grade. His grading scale will allow u to do better but u have to put the work in. LOTS of homework but it pays off. I am so thankful for this man!
Math 260 is a hard subject. Professor Hentschel did an excellent job teaching it. There is a lot of homework-21!Each homework would take couple of hours or more to complete. Total score is only 5 pts. He drops lowest 1 hmwrk, 2 quizzes, and 1 test. There is high chance of getting better grade. You have to work for it. Tests are quite hard, study.
Hentschel is a great math teacher. He is very nice and will go above and beyond to help you understand the subject. He can be slightly confusing at times as he has his own way of understanding and teaching math but ultimately he is very solid and much, much better than most of the other math teachers at LACC. I highly recommend joining PI shop
Done my all tests, quizzes,Tons of homeworks on time. All I got Not passing grade. Thankyou for ruin my gpa and my life!
He's really nice, however, you have to really work for your grade. He uses the same questions he does on the board so be sure to write everything down. His point system is weird but it helps you. I started the class with an F, ended with a B. Like I said before, YOU HAVE TO WORK YOUR TAIL OFF. Math is my worst subject. Know how to use your calculator
Prof Hentschel is AWESOME! Best prof! He has a system set up where even if you fail tests, quizzes, etc, you can still pass (or even get an A). He drops lowest scores, doesn't curve but let's your next test-15 replace your 1st, and really wants you to do well! Hmwk is online, unlimited attempts w/ ex to follow, time consuming tho TAKE HIM!
He explains in details and don't skip any section. As I experienced, Honestly most of Math teachers are lazy except him. The . Just a lot of questions in every exam for a limited time, that was my only problem. That is it. Over all, very patient, nice, knowledgeable teacher. I wish I could have Math 261 with him. I just want to thank him again.
Hes a cool person but you really need to pay attention and go to class everyday bc everyday theres something new so don't miss. Didn't like approaching him for questions cause he expects you to know everything. His grading criteria is very confusing and his teaching. He has office hours but rather you go to somewhere else.
If you fall behind on hw then you're going to struggle. He literally gives you so many chances to pass & even get an A! Yes the hw is a lot but hey it helps for the exams. Listen to what he says & the examples on the board might be similar to a test question. People who complain are just lazy students. It's pre-calculus not pre-algebra. Step it up.
He is one of the rare math professors at LACC, who cares about his job and his students. He has all the qualities of an excellent teacher.
Great professor. He doesn't start his class sequentially. He starts with a Trig. Review. ALL tests are comprehensive, so work in what you didn't answer in your previous test because you'll get tested on it again. You can't be working FT and taking 2+ classes for this class, very time consuming. No professor will give you as many chances to pass.
I'm the worse at math ! however doing all the homework online and studying for the tests helped a lot! Professors sometimes goes off topic but he gives plenty of extra credit !
His lecture skills is not top notch and he is very picky with grading your tests, but he gives 5 pts extra credit on tests. Full points on the homework and the quizzes is easy and free 170+ pts out of the 700 total for the class. There are a total of 3 written tests, 1 online, and a final. He has an excellent and unique way of curving your grade.
This professor is the most horrible professor ever. Please do not take him if you want to learn.
This is the IDEAL math professor if you struggle with math or have had time since high school. You obviously still have to work hard because it's math, but he is a generous as you could hope for, always 5 extra points out of 100, and the quizzes are the most missed questions from the previous test so if you put in the work you will get good grades
Pretty decent. He gives a lot of homework and many chances to pass. You really have to study every problem he gives on the HW assignments because he just might put it on an exam. Every test is cumulative That's approx. 335 problems to learn for the midterm(test 3) and 735 for final. Also, he will take off many points for small errors. Good luck
He is the best professor I have ever had. He is amazing professorch
He has a unique grading system. Every exam is culumulative which feels like mini finals and could be a bit tiring but you will be informed what will be on them. By the end you will have done so many questions that youve really learned the materials in your head. No other teachers do this but it works. Be prepared to spend LOTS of time on homework.
He's good for lower level classes like Math 125 and below but I wouldn't recommend him for higher-level math courses. His teaching is ok you'll have to study a lot, there are hundreds of questions you have to learn and memorize that he might or might not put on the tests. A higher level math 5 unit class will feel more like a 10-unit class
I did very will in this class and do feel like I learned a lot. But it would be impossible not to learn if you put in the crazy amount of time I put into it. Almost everything is graded by the computer program, which gives the professor free reign to assign a ridiculous amount of homework, the likes of which I've never seen. So glad it's over.
Professor has a unique grading curve, but the class final is worth 30% of your grade w/o curve. Questions are cumulative, composed of past test questions and homework questions. Though a difficult course, I still loved the class. Professor cared for his students, trying to make our exams easier whenever possible. Recommended; just put in the time.
I am not sure how does this professor keep the score of 4.0 ??! This is of a disservice to students. His final is based on accumulative material. He manipulates the homework done through the computer and does not consider hard work. Extremely difficult class and unfair grading.
Professor gives us two hours per exam, but always gives us more than that. He tries his best to help a student out if s/he comes up to him with a question. Unique curves on his tests where if you get a 20/100 on test 1, but then an 85 on test 2, test 1 becomes 70/100. This is because tests are cumulative. Great professor. Recommended.
BEWARE! DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! I enrolled in his Winter '20 Math 260 class. Let me get to the point. His lectures are difficult to follow, completely unorganized, and unprepared for his students. He implemented a new system 2 days in the winter session & was learning on the fly. Make a visit to his office, it's a reflection of him, confused!
If youre not prepared to do a ton of homework dont take this professor. I just took his college algebra course for summer 2020 segment 1. The class was only 5 weeks and I expected a lot of work but in this case it wasnt worth it at all. His grading scale is designed to make you do the most amount of work for a small amount of credit.
Great Instructors. Cares about students and respects their time. Lots of exercises and homework but they prepare you the test and final. So happy I stuck in there and completed the course. I would take his course again and would look for future math courses he would be teaching. Extremely organized and has a great system for online learning.
If it wasn't for prof H. I never would have passed. Free book and website $$. HW graded instantly by computer (no files to upload like other instructors), so it's super easy to get done. Took me like 2 minutes per problem. So a 15 question hw takes 30 min. "Late Passes" let you do hw up to a week late. Pre Test and Tests questions are from hw.
No textbook and website is very easy to use. He is very friendly and approachable to ask questions to. He also includes late passes for homework assignments which is awesome. Take his class!!!!
Professor has a unique grading system, but the workload is intense. Lots of homework and cumulative exams. Definitely take advantage of study resources like unstuck AI to prep. Worth it if you're willing to put in the time.
