Not an easy class but professor gives many chances to improve grade and get extra credit. Not a lot of homework but you should read the book along with his powerpoint. This class is work but doable.

Good teacher, you can tell he enjoys biology. Extremely boring lectures, he tends to read off his powerpoints the whole lecture. He trys his best for his students to pass and understand the material . If your going to take his class be prepared to study. It is doable to passed with an A, but he definitely wont hand it to you.

This professor is great. He really cares about his students and offers any help. Although biology is not an easy class he makes it seem less difficult and if you do not understand something you can ask him and he will explain as many times as needed. Of course, he will do all these things if he sees and effort coming from the student.

Professor Verma master the knowledge and organize it in his own style. Never read PowerPoint, has big picture in mind. No offense, he is over qualify to teach in Valencia. Took professor Verma in the Spring of 2015, he is the BEST professor ever. He uses mastering biology and gives quizzes base off the labs. Great professor. Lectures are VERY long (120+ slides) per chapter. Homework heavy (online and easy). Grading takes forever and NEVER meets deadlines. You'll ask 3-4 times for something to be graded. He will take up the entire class lecturing from beginning to end (with breaks in between of course). However, do not miss a day because you will fall behind. Microbiology is a science class which means: it is going to be difficult and you would have to work hard to get a decent grade, just like any other class. Power Points are long, but easy to comprehend. The lectures are very interesting and the professor is very good at giving examples to correlate with the lectures, and there is extra credit .

Honestly, he has powerpoints that are more than 100 slides but he doesn't teach off of that. He condenses all the info a helps you memorize in better ways! You will survive in this class. He gives so much leeway, drops quizzes, gives extra credit in class + exams. He cares about the grades of his students. almost NOTHING is outside of the powerpoint and connect hw, same questions from in class quizzes on exam, study guide for lab exam. Memorize power points, and it's fine. Took him for bio 1 and MCB pretty much same style.

Dr Verma is an amazing person, he is super caring, but won't be taken advantage of. He will cut you some slack with the right circumstances, but expects his students to do well. There are five tests and they're all lecture-based, and two lab practicals. Half of class is lab other half is lecture. I would take him again in a heartbeat.

I took this class in the summer online. I thought the online course would be harder, but he makes it easy. He gives too much extra credit. He cares about the student in the class and answers emails quick. You have to go through the material and take notes. The PowerPoints are big because he tries to make the online class as easy as face to face.

Professor Verma is great but his class is very lecture heavy. One unit is usually around 1-2 hours. Each unit has a quiz, hw and study module. There's multiple exams that cover 3-4 units. The exams are proctored on honor lock and he does not tolerate cheating!! His class is challenging but overall well. Textbook not required but helpful.

I did mixed mode & passed all four of his tests & online quizzes, but He says the best experience is to attend full in person. His lectures are long but are the most helpful tool in class.

he's a great professor, he teaches you everything you need to know, and gives you countless assignments and extra credit that helps to raise your grade. He's very caring of every student and only wants you to succeed. His labs and assignments are easy/average if you prepare for them. Just do your part and study and you'll pass easily

He focuses on making sure the students learn by giving several examples and focuses a lot on repetition. He expects students to participate by completing sentences. He is always willing to help any student that is having trouble even outside class hours. It is a 4-class credit so make sure to put some effort into than in regular classes.

You need to take this professor!!! He is truly the BEST you will find to take any Bio course. My class was mixed mode and mostly of the work we had to do was online like lectures and his class was so fun when doing the labs.

First time writing a review but it is definitely worth it for Professor Verma, I struggled so hard when I first took bio a few semesters ago, decided to retake it with him and it was the best semester ive had by far. I am a visual learner and like things to be taught thoroughly, he covers all those bases. if you are taking bio I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Professor Verma is the best. He actually cares for his students and the workload is not even bad at all. The exams are about 50 question and multiple choices covering 4 chapters. Labs are super fun and intresting also a great way to interact with your class mates. The professor is so sweet and conversations with him is never boring.

He genuinely cares about his student & is always available if you need help. Super chill & funny. Took his mix mode class & I did great. The labs were fun & easy to follow. Make sure you watch the lectures & do the homework. It is not a class where you think you can slack off & get a good grade. Seriously your grade is reflected on your effort.

If you are planning to take General Bio 1, take Professor Verma. He's such a chill professor and he genuinely care about his students and want them to success. The workload for the course itself it's a lot but he film detailed lecture videos and upload them. He explains the topics really well and for the quiz in class. He's truly the best :)

If you're not a good online learner do not take this class in mixed mode. His lectures are very long and heavy. You can look up the answers to all the online work and quizzes, but you will have to study for the exams which there are 5 of including a lab exam. He was very nice and offered a lot of extra credit and let us work together for quizzes.

A great class and professor, but you will not get by if you don't study. The 5 tests are what your grade depends on, anything else will barely up your grade by a point. Extra credit is offered and for the accountability quizzes you'll work as a table or as a class most of the time.

Honestly after failing Bio 1 stupidly a few semesters ago I thought I had no hope but Professor Verma is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. He's very good at making sure you know the material when he does lectures, a lot of memorization tactics which are especially important for this class, and always gets everyone to participate.HIGHLYREC

Honestly the best professor I've ever had. If you don't do the homework it will definitely bite you in the end. He was very helpful and answered any questions I had and made sure I understood them before moving on to the next topic. If you miss a class, READ THE LECTURE!!!! He will work with you if you are willing.

10/10 - Second year taking Prof. Verma, and he really sets up his bio class to perfectly align with micro. As long as you pay attention, he will practically give you the answers to the test. The homework and labs will help more than you think. Truly an amazing teacher who has set me on a path to love learning again. He's also pretty funny

Professor Verma has extensive experience to teach this course. You have to turn up, don't be late, listen to the his lecture. Printout his PowerPoint slides and write down notes. Do advance reading on chapters so you can participate in the discussions. He will encourage and comment on your performance. He will also tell you if you need improvement.

Prof. Verma is one of the best professors I've had. He cares about every student. Lectures were long but he gave us breaks or distractions to keep us into it. Participation is extremely important & don't be late! The tests weren't very hard as long as you STUDIED! The labs were a bit confusing at times, but besides that, I recommend this professor!

Tough but rewarding class with Professor Verma. His teaching style emphasizes memorization and participation, which really helps solidify the material. I found Unstuckstudy and the free textbook to be great study aids alongside the lectures.

best professor ive ever had in college. microbiology is a complicated subject but his exams are straight to the point and are curved. he does everything in his power to help you succeed. one group project but you are graded individually and it is very simple powerpoint at the end of the semester. final exam is not cumulative. lectures are good.

If you genuinely want to learn and pay attention take him he makes it easy to understand. If you still don't understand something ask him and he'll take his time to explain. Everything he teaches is on exams and you have to really study to pass them. I didn't so I ended up with a C. He also likes to joke around and sometimes set up something fun.

i wish i could take him again he was literally the best! he was so sweet and offered so much xtra credit, curved every exam, let us do a lot of assignments as a group, and his lectures were def lengthly but very informative and honestly fun. he makes it so fun and easy to learn and i got an A because of that. my fav course ive taken in vc so far :)

Professor Verma is a great professor!! He is very understanding and helpful. The homework isn't too much and the quizzes are alright. The labs were fun as well. Make sure to keep up with homework and you'll be fine. The exams are a bit difficult and long, but you'll do fine if you take notes and study. I would definitely recommend taking this class

One of the best professors I've ever had. He remembers each student, their weak points and encourages you to succeed. He's very understanding if you're having issues or have to submit something late. The labs are fun and interesting and easy to understand. Also funny and breaks the ice so everyone is friendly to each other. Attendance is mandatory

Dr Verma was honestly in no doubt, the very best professor i've had. Very descriptive during his lectures, but nothing to hard to understand as long as you are following along. Gives many chances to raise your grade, break the ice, and extremely understanding when it comes to our personal lives. Very best teacher I will most definitely take again!!

He teaches thoroughly and provides examples for hard to understand topics which makes it much easier to understand. As long as you pay attention to his lectures and take notes (as someone who does not actually study at home and only pays attention in class) its quite easy to pass his class.

Prof Verma is great, he is kind and had good connections w students. Mixed mode course relies on watching his online lectures which are VERY long and difficult to keep up with if you dont manage your time. I wouldnt reccommend Mixed mode, meet times are only for labs. Wasnt easy to maintain an my A, so keep that in mind if u have full schedule

Prof. Verma is really great. He repeats himself as necessary to make sure you understand or write down something important. He is responsive to emails and understanding as long as you can explain your situation. He will judge you for being late, however. I mean even a minute. lol. His lectures include great whiteboard drawings/notes to follow.

Honestly how could you dislike this guy? His teaching style is straight forward and he speaks slowly and clearly and will go over the material multiple times. He can be a little Intimidating but it's all love and he puts you on the spotlight sometimes so you can learn. A in Microbiology is manageable if you study and pay attention to ppts! 10/10!

Honestly one of my favorite professors here at Valencia. His lectures are pretty heavy, but he will try to kind of give out outside examples which make it easier to understand and he will have us participate to help us better understand the topics. Overall great professor and will give out extra credit too.

If you're sensitive, you might not enjoy this professor but he is funny and his lectures are great! He does a lot of labs that are interesting and fun. Show up and study and you will be fine! Any class takes effort so don't be lazy and you will pass. I was actually sad when the class was over so definitely take him!
