Before you take any online class make sure you have self discipline. This class is a lot of work and it is easy to fall behind. This instructor does not penalize you for late work, which is good until the last week of class...

He is a very helpful professor with fair expectations. If you cannot motivate yourself to meet deadlines, find another class. I would recommend him to anyone who needs to take a computers course.

He is a tough grader as you must earn your marks. Only he gives lots of homework more than 03 database classes combined. In my opinion this WEB250 should only be for web designing students. Be careful and watch out to earn marks from extra credit as you go along. His classes are just too challenging for me.

Great professor. Get ready to work. Every one of his classes are the most challenging i've taken at CPCC. Grades at the end of the semester which is good and bad. You have to go to him with problems, but if you do, he'll go the extra mile to help you.

Class has a good outline where each assignment follows into the next, so don't fall behind.

Lets you turn stuff late, but try to be on time. It's just easier.

The amount of extra credit, made my 2 late assignment disappear. I finished the class with OVER 100%. You must participate and do you work. and it's an easy A. He's so helpful as well, as long as you ask a detailed question. Theres no way to fail this class. Late work is always 20% points off, but it doesn't matter how late it is. He's great.

Great teacher. Work is pretty easy in the beginning then towards the end it gets super hard! The work is sometimes self-explanatory, other times it's not. This class involves watching a lot of tutorials so make sure you understand what your assignments are about or you will be completely lost!

This is by far the easiest class I have taken at CPCC. I would recommend Professor Briesen to anyone. He is very helpful and allows extra time on assignments that usually no one would do. The course is laid out neatly and can work at your own pace. TAKE HIMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

His class is honestly one of the self-explained class you can take. It may be intimidating at first but once you complete the first assignment, you have the idea for the rest of the course. He provides so many extra credit opportunities, it's unbelievable. He wants us to succeed and emails you personally if you're in need of help. HE'S GREAT!!!

CIS 110 is a very simple and easy class. Most of the work is common sense and anytime you hit a stump there is always the internet to help. The work is time consuming but that can be expected with any CIS course. The course helped me perfect my Microsoft Excel and Access skills.

Great class and professor. Work is laid out and can work ahead. Just stay on track and you'll pass. I would take it over again.

Lot of computer projects. I took course in summer, 16 weeks jammed into 8 week course. I struggle with computers so the course was a challenge for me. I am pursuing an Assoc. in Welding, probably will not use these applications in automated welding. I did have an issue with Simnet and had to contact the HELP. You have to keep up with work.

Good class. There was a lot of work, but I learned a lot. Feedback was also helpful.

Great professor. If you don't make an A in this class its simply because you are lazy. With all of the extra credit he offers and unlimited attempts on quizzes (with no late penalty) this is an easy A. The projects do take a while to finish, especially the guided ones, but it is all mainly busy work. Would recommended.

If you do the Online class you can just buy the Ebook-you probably could do the same for the onsite classes. He gives many extra credit opportunities!!! If you do bad in this class, it is your fault not his! The assignments are a bit time-consuming especially if you have a job and other classes so don't wait until the last day but they aren't hard.

I do appreciate Mr von Breisen's attention to detail. He made me feel more challenged than some of my other instructor's.

This class was very hands on, full of trial and error, but once you needed help on something then he will help you every step of the way. That's how it should be done.

This class was an easy A. DI gives plenty of time to complete assignments. Although it says a PC is required for the course, I was able to complete most of the course with my Mac. CPCC computers also have the required software. Every week, you are assigned a few chapters, attendance quizzes, and had to do a journal entry for the chapters.

This professor is awesome. He puts every detail into one message every week for projects, reading and blogging. It's not hard to keep up with because he gives you the whole week to turn in assignments. Extra credit is also given frequently! Take advantage of it.

I would absolutely take this class again. The instructor gives the students a reasonable amount of work and is very good about making sure you have what you need to be successful. I was taking online class. My Professor was good he answered my all question on the blackboard. that was very helpful for me and also he offered some activities for extra credit which makes my grade up. and that was good. since I was online student that is all I can say he was a good professor.

Work load can be tedious and directions can be unclear but he is always willing to help you out, rather it's through the school's website or email, or meeting you in person, he is willing to help you with your work and make sure you learn the most.

This was a very challenging class. Mr. von Breisen was encouraging throughout the semester. During the course it was obvious of how much compassion he has for the students and his position by the way he motivated us. Thank you Mr. B.

The intro to JavaScript class is a great class. Professor D.I. is very lenient on the assignments, which I am grateful. There are a lot of resources available for this class.

This was an online class but this professor was clear on the course syllabus about what was expected and how to make an A. There was extra credit offered and he was available for assistance when needed. He made it where other students could blog and help each other out too. My only mistake was I have a MAC did not get the ACCESS program on a PC.

Complete all of the assignments and you can easily make a A or B. Quizzes can be taken once but all other assignments can be done over until you get a 100. Easy A!

This guy is a great professor. The work is definitely manageable if you pace yourself. If you get behind on the work it will take hours to try to catch up so make sure to stay ahead of the pace of this course.

Great teacher who will always be there when you need him. Homework can be heavy and tedious at times, but there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to pass his classes as long as the work gets submitted. He accepts late work and can work with you so you can finish your assignments.

The class was easy, but you do have to do your work and dedicate time. If you need help he is always there to help so dont be afraid to ask. He also has many videos that helped me out a lot through the course.

Mr. von Breisen is one of the most caring professors I have ever had. He cares about your grade, and will do everything he can to push you to your full potential. There is a lot of extra credit to be had, and you can finish the class early if it is an online class. It is a lot of work to do but it's not hard if you just follow directions.

This was a great class and the professor was wonderful as well! You learn in-depth information on the 4 major programs used, Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Access. The coursework is easy, read the chapters do the assignments and you're good to go. The professor gives extra credit opportunities & allows work to be turned in late (but do it on time!)

I really adore this class, because within these past few weeks I have learned a lot. This is really like my first online class and not bad for my first time. I really like how there's a discussion board which is there to help those that are in need of assistants when somethings get hard to understand.

The class was a hybrid, so students must be really motivated to succeed in order to pass.

D.I is a really good instructor. He know his stuff well and he will try to help you through the concepts you are learning. By far the best WEB instructor I've ever had. Schoolwork can pile up quick, but he allows late submissions. As long as you turn in your work you will get a grade. I would highly recommend him.

The grade you receive in their class is entirely up to you. They provide multiple opportunitys for extra credit that can get your grade to wherever you want. As long as remain consistent and do not fall behind the work assigned, you should get a A.

I took this course and was very concerned about the online heavy component, however d.i. made this course very reasonable and easy to understand. As this was my first experience with an on-line class room, I was apprehensive of what would be required. The workload was heavy (I took a short session) but I learned a lot and really enjoyed it. D.I. was great overall, but he did seem a little absent after the first few weeks. I liked how he got everyone involved in the class discussions - I've taken lots of online classes and never really interacted with my classmates like I did in this class.

I enjoyed this class! D.I gives you the chance to correct any issues on projects for full points, so that was really appreciated. You do have to take initiative and manage your time appropriately to get all the work done. My only "complaint" is that a lot of items weren't graded in a timely manner, but D.I was always available for questions.

This class was a do-it-at-your-own-pace kind of class. There were due dates, but D.I. lets you submit work late. He does give a lot of feedback, and also relies heavily on peer reviews to ensure that everyone is participating and contributing. Excellent style of learning and teaching each other!

Mr Von Briesen is an awesome teacher. He lays things out very simple for you to understand. Its alot of work, but as long as you are on top of your labs, you are good!

Mr. Von Briesen was a grade A instructor. The work was labor intensive, but worth it in the end where you know how to use Mircoaoft products. A wonderful guy and lets you work at your own pace, just get the work done.

The class itself was not that difficult; however, if you had questions he was always ready to help. He also made it very clear when assignments were due, so there was no confusion there.

I took some classes with D.I. He was a great professor, really cares about his students, he gives really great feedback and answers emails/questions promptly so if you are ever not clear on something he's always there to help.

Well, I can only say that he is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I had a lot of fun doing this class and would love to have this amazing teacher over and over again. You get A LOT of easy extra credit, and some of the assignments were super fun. Trust me, you won't find another chill and super funny teacher like DI. :D

He is great! So many possibilities to get extra credit. The class is not too hard if you keep up with the assignments. He gives very constructional feedback and many second chances to improve your grade.

This was a very challenging course! Being new to web design I wasn't sure what to expect but I quickly found out this class was going to take some real effort. My teacher was a huge help. He is full of knowledge and after he explained several things to me I finally started to get it. I feel way more confident in the subject after taking this class.

Although my class was online so it's tricker to say how he's like in person, I was still able to tell that this teacher was a solid gem throughout the entire semester. He gives constant feedback online and provides constant status updates so you know what's going on in the class and you do not feel left out which makes him great overall.

The professor was very helpful and there were always opportunities for feedback. If you needed help the discussion board was the place to go and even if a peer gave feedback you can be sure the professor was going to help out as well. Great class, quick semester!

I enjoyed Prof. Von Briesen. He gives great feedback, always responds to student questions. The only downside would be sometimes he was late putting grades in.

DI is very thorough about making sure your assignments are up to snuff, so you better be prepared to get them up to snuff. On the plus side, you can earn an easy 10-20% of your grade through extra credit if you participate.

I had the time of my life in this class, I swear by it. I think its the coolest thing ever I designed my own website and Mr.D.I. had the patience to to walk me through it.

I absolutely loved this class! He added some fun activities in between too. DI Von Briesen always made sure we understood what was required from us for the class and if you didn't understand he made sure he helped us when we needed assistance and he also kept us up to date all the time. I would definitely take this class again! Thank you so much!

This Instructor was beyond helpful! The class was a heavy work load, but it was very clear what was expected. Highly recommend this professor.

Is very lenient on due dates, which was great all semester until now. I'm down to the last couple days to complete a LOT of work. But he grades your work, gives you feedback on what to improve, and will grade it again once you fix the issues. As long as you do your work, you'll get a good grade.

Always gives extra credits for everything when posting a question or even saying how you feel on the discussion board. Flexible withe due dates and understanding! Loved this course so much!

Prof. von Briesen is one of the finest IT professors at CPCC, and the greater Charlotte region. While WEB-110 is an intro course, his feedback and course structure helps students of all levels to benefit, and improve their craft. His feedback is spectacular, and was the primary force behind my learning. It is rare to find an IT prof. this caring!

He's really a good professor/ teacher. He always want you to be the best in the class and will definitely will help you get there. He's really cool and funny. His class is the best. whenever you need help, he always got you cover what ever the circumstances.

He is always ready to provide help and feedback.

He makes it clear what he expects from students and he is not afraid to call out slacking students in emails/announcements.

This class taught me alot; in the beginning, I thought to myself, "why do I need this class" but after taking this class, I felt so educated in something that I didn't think I needed any more educating on. Although I took this class online, it wasn't easy; I gained more confidence in test-taking. The online course felt like a big family.

This professor was one of the best I've had. With the online course, the whole semester is laid out in a spread sheet of what to do, allowing you to work ahead. He also offers an insane amount of extra credit but you won't need it if you finish your work on time, which was usually around an hour a week. I would recommend anyone to take this class.

I would 100% take this class again. It was a breeze. It was online but he was ALWAYS available via email. You have the option to get ahead in the class if you choose to. He is super laid back and so was his class! 10/10 recommend.

This class was honestly so much fun. If you don't know a lot about computers, this class is for you. If you do know a lot about them, this class is still for you. **Keep up with the lab homework!!** You will have so much homework if you don't follow the schedule. The teacher was very clear on instruction and made the class overall enjoyable.

Professor Briesen was really good! I am so thankful that I was able to get a professor that is so caring and Kind. I'm very glad that I took this course; the teacher was amazing, the tests and labs we did were very helpful, the course expectations were very clear, and the work had a moderate level of difficulty. Overall, great teacher! Would 100% take it again! Attendance isn't really mandatory unless you're behind. Responds pretty quickly and gives you a ton of opportunities for extra credit. I have Professor D.I. Von Briesen for CIS 110 for Spring 2022. It is completely online but at the beginning of the semester he conducted a Zoom meeting to understand what was expected, he allowed us to work ahead as far as we wanted, and LOTS of extra credit if you participated in the General Discussion. I have a 99.78% in class with 1 exam left.

Prof. Von Briesen is an amazing instructor! The work can get overwhelming but there are no penalties for submitting the work in late. He makes time for his students. I had him during the Spring 2022 semester and as a dual enrollment student, the work is a lot but doable. Overall, he's a great teacher who expects the best out of his students.

Just 1 PHP book for a few assignments but most readings were online. He is very flexible with the due dates. You could honestly submit your week 1 assignment in the last week though it wouldn't be the smartest move. A lot of extra credit easily. Guaranteed to get an A as long as you do the assignments.

- The forums where a great source of communication to see everyone's thoughts and opinions! As well as earn some extra credit! -Journals were a great way to communicate with your fellow students to talk about work or just have a convo! -Instructions were very clear! Easy to understand and follow! -Mr. Briesen is a wonderful instructor!

Primarily using a third party coursework system for all assignments, students are encouraged to tackle the material at their own pace, and the only technical frustration I had was solved by switching web browsers. Weekly journals were also graded, helped give a sense of camaraderie. The professor provided humorous updates weekly.

If you are planning to take CIS 110, you definitely have to consider doing it with professor D.I. von Briesen, he is so nice!

This teacher is awesome! He knows a lot and makes learning so much fun. We learn useful stuff and get to practice a lot. The best part is we do activities together as a group, which is way different than other classes I've had. We also had weekly Webex meetings. The teacher was giving us extra points and no strict deadlines. I loved this class!

This man is hilarious! The class is tough but you will pay attention. He's like 8 feet tall and has a great classroom presence. You will not be bored for one second.

I had Professor D.I. von Briesen for Web115, and had a great semester with him. He assigns a decent workload every week, but he doesn't give any penalties on late grades. He always provides detailed, clear and thorough instructions, he provides a lot of assistance, and has helped my coding skills grow tremendously. I highly recommend this professor

Teaches through Khan academy, allows you to go back and redo any assignments or tests because he wants his students to succeed. Follow directions and you will get an A very easily.

The best professor I've ever had!! He's very down-to-earth and extremely supportive. The labs in TestOut were extremely annoying tho due to all the lag and glitches. This professor is the only reason I had any motivation to keep doing my work. Passed the class with a 100 since his extra credit journals helped fill any gaps.

I really enjoyed this class, it was very interactive and fun. The assignments can be challenging especially in the beginning but if you participate in the lectures and do the practice assignments, you will have a great experience.

Had a great experience in this class, had to do a lot of homework, but if you space it out, it doesn't seem like too much. Took the Asynch class and didn't have to work too hard to get an A.

D.I. is a great guy! Very funny, straightforward, and honest. He will tell you like it is. He's like 7 feet tall and has a huge personality. The class is hard but definitely passable. He's easy to reach through email or after class.

There's a lot of homework, but the class is easy overall. The professor sends plenty of reminders, which helps a lot. If you have the option, I'd highly recommend taking this course.

I liked how rigorous this course was, especially with the added challenge of it being online. They give good feedback on your assignments, when they give feedback. I believe they teach a lot of classes, so they fall behind on grading and you will end up waiting for quite some time before you see grades in the book.

He can be a stickler for the specifics which drove me crazy, but that is to be expected in a coding class! If any little thing is wrong, your code may not function. He just wants to drive good habits into you! Great class.

Professor von Briesen is incredibly knowledgeable, charismatic, and genuinely caring. This class was not easy, but I pushed through and conquered it thanks to his guidance and support. He truly takes the time to help students, values effort, and still expects improvement. His teaching style is motivating, fair, and inspiring.
