NOT RECOMMENDED!If u enjoy feeling lost and frusterated all the time & being put down, take him!Hes not a bad person,He just cant teach.Goes over too many assignments too fast, doesnt give u time to work in class and ASSUMES u know how to do things exactly the way he wants u to w/o telling u bc u are "college student". Goodluck if u take him! :-/
Sessoms is a worthless teacher. This class was totally useless and Sessoms made it all the more painful with his lack of ability in teaching. I long for the day that I can tear him apart on the course evaluation. Ironic that he would teach "technology in education" because he is proficient in neither.
Just finished Sessom's class EDUC 318: Technology in Education. It was impossible to gage your personal progress because he only told us 2 of our grades after we'd done several assignments. I stayed lost during most of the class, not because I didn't understand the material, but because I didn't understand the objectives. Good luck if you take him.
The WORST professor I have ever had and I have had several professors. Please take my advice and do not, I repeat, DO NOT take this professor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sessoms was just not work the effort. He gave me 2 grades the entire semester and somehow, I got an A. I have NO idea where my grade came from! The work isn't hard, but it's really tedious and time consuming. The posts were absolutely pointless, as was the book that we never used. His class isn't as "important" as he thinks it is! Stay away!!!
Computers in education. Dr.Sessoms was one of my favorite teachers. He introduced you to technology you can actually use in the classroom. He will go out of his way to help a students that does not understand and is extremely friendly. If you know basic stuff about computers you will get an A. GO SESSOMS!
Dr. Sessoms loves what he does and you can tell! He is not only very helpful in class, but will go out of his way outside of class to help his students. I had a great experience in this classroom last semester and would recommend him to anyone!
I just finished taking his class Comuters in Education. Hes a nice guy and he is willing to help you outside of class as long as you do not wait until the last minute for things. There are so many assignments for his class and they may not be hard but very time consuming. Go to class or you will be lost he assigns a different project like everyday!
The WORST professor ever. I had him for computers in ed and he was awful. Never will take him again!!!!!!!!!!!
The only people who don't like his classes are eled majors. He is a fantastic teacher and the things he teaches will be used! He definitely knows his stuff and is willing to help. You actually have to do some work but it's not that hard. It's not a class that you can just show up for and do nothing. BUT we're in college. Get over it.
Ridiculously picky grader!! Class is hybrid so for assignments you are on your own. This class makes me not want to use technology anymore. Horrible.
Technology in Education. Very little of what he taught was useful in my classroom. He was extremely moody and rude. I didn't know my grade until the end of the class. Nothing was graded promptly. I will avoid taking another class with him.
I had to go into his office every week for help in this class. He was a great professor and helped me every time I went to his office. The class is hard but he helps as much as he can!
loved this class. learned alot but the book was useless..he let me redo assignments that i got below a B on..easy to talk to..better than my advisor..loved him..fyi he is cute but married lol
Dr. Sessoms is an AMAZING teacher! He's passionate about education, extremely helpful, and approachable. The class is a lot of work, yes. But this is COLLEGE, you should expect to work hard. I will absolutely use what I learned in this course both in my personal life and in my future classroom.
Not clear about grades. What he teaches in class is useless in a real classroom, though the workload is easy. Rude, incompetent. Stay away.
This teacher is obviously not good at what he does. Little knowledge base, unhelpful, unclear. Changes assignments that are useless anyway, no feedback on assignments .
Extremely rude and disrespecful. Has no organizational skills and is not current on teaching trends. Does not follow University criteria to use MyClasses and doesn't update his website for current information. Doesn't return phone calls or emails until very late at night. Not interested in helping student and cannot explain assignments
Terrible professor. When you are lacking in assignment details, you cannot take points off for things that are not listed in rubrics. Expect all emails to be answered with a rude underlying "your stupid" theme to them. I know you are reading this because you are into technology, step your game up Sessoms.
Worst teacher I have ever had. He is rude and unhelpful and shows no interest in this class or his students. Talks about grades in front of the class and will give an automatic zero if he has trouble opening an assignment. I will not use what I learned in this class in my classroom. This is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. Dont take him!!
I cannot believe this is a graduate level class.
Dr. Sessoms is a great professor. If you go to him and show that you care he will be more apt to help you succeed.
If you go to him for help and show that you care, he will help you and show he cares about your work. Try to get on his good side early in the semester and you won't have any problems. Personally, I go to him for clarification often and have been receiving A's on every assignment since.
Dr. Sessoms is an extremely helpful professor if you show dedication and commitment to his course. Ask questions and clarification on assignments and you will get a good grade. I will definitely be using what I learned in the future and will visit him often to stop in and say hello!
Many students find Dr. Sessoms to be intimidating and go into the course with a bad attitude. If you try hard, think about what you are going to say before you speak in class (speak up often!), and give lots of time for every assignment you will do well. If you have concerns then TALK to him, he is very helpful if you ask reasonably.
This teacher knows what he is talking about, but is reluctant to help students. You have to fight for lost points on any occasion, even if he made the mistake. The assignments are time consuming, so start early and keep up with the work. Take advantage of extra credit because you will not get an A. Not a good representation of a great teacher.
From the beginning, you have to walk in Sessoms class on the ball. Others say he isn't helpful to students, but that depends on the student. If you walk in there and participate every single class and email him with questions that are specific, you'll do great. His technology class is rough, but is worth it in the end.
I dropped this class because I did not care for this professor and when I went to email him about an assignment he was rude in the returning email. He wants people to participate in class. In the beginning of the class, he has the whole class take a quiz on kahoot. Anyone taking this class with this professor should work on assignments early!!
worse professor I have ever had at Salisbury. Is not clear on formatting for assignments. Very rude and belittling toward you when asking questions about assignments. There is so much I could say about this class. Honestly, If you can avoid him do it and you'll thank me later. I don't think there is one thing in this class I would use in the future.
I read the poor reviews on Dr. Sessoms prior to taking his course as I believed it would be easier due to the fact that it was online and wouldn't require in person interactions. But it was not. He is very vague in both instructions and grading and is condescending in his reply emails as well. Don't bother asking for help or clarification either.
The most arrogant teacher I have ever had. He leaves min. instruction for most assignments and is condescending when you express any confusion, as if it is entirely your fault you do not understand the entire assignment he took all of 20 seconds to explain. SU keeping him as a fulltime teacher really affects the school badly. DO NOT TAKE HIM
Very specific guidelines and if anything is not to his standards he will give you a 0 and say that you didn't put enough effort.
He is quite possibly the worst teacher I have ever had. He is very vague when it comes to describing the assignments but if you do not do everything to his standards, he will fail you and say that you showed no effort. He is also very rude when you ask him questions about an assignment and makes you feel very dumb in his responses.
Dr. Sessoms is no doubt tough, but you get out what you put in. If you work hard and give 100% he is very fair. His class is a LOT of work. The assignments are extensive, but a lot of them are fun/interesting. You have to hit the ground running in this class and WORK HARD for an A. I learned a lot. There's also no final exam or major tests.
This class is ALOT of work and Dr. Sessoms makes you work for it. Extra Credit is available, so take advantage of it. Tough grader, but may let you fix some errors to receive a better grade. I suggest going to meet him face to face, as that will make a good impression. He is very knowledgable, answers e-mails in a timely manner. Overall, I suggest.
Is he a tough prof? Yes! Are we studying to be teachers? Yes! Follow his instructions, ask for help--- DO NOT slack off. This is college folks, treat it as such. The man knows his stuff.
I was scared to take this professor after reading the reviews on this site, but he is not a bad guy or out to get you! If you come to class and don't slack off on your work he will respect you. There is A LOT of work so be prepared for that, but he is always available to answer questions and gives opportunities for extra credit.
He is extremely vague when it comes to directions on assignments if you email him saying that you dont understand hell send back comments like did you read the directions? Also at the beginning he cancels a week of class and if you are at risk of failing hell send you an email saying that he wont grade any work until you met with him.
I read online that Dr. Sessoms was hard professor and braced myself for the class. This class was a 3 week shortened semester class, so i was worried. BUT Dr. Sessoms has ALWAYS fielded my e-mails (I sent so many), and replied within an hour or less. He is fair with grading and assigning work, and is willing to talk to you and work with you!
Project-based class. Gives extremely vague directions and expects extremely specific results. Condescending. Course load is very intense, would be manageable you were taking one class a semester. You will do most of your work and learning outside of the classroom.
I never once heard him say anything positive about the teaching career. A very snarky and cold man, often rude. Acts as if his class should be your absolute top and only priority, assigns large amounts of work. Expects perfection but at the same time no work is ever good enough for him. Ask questions he either answers rudely or asks you a snarky Q
Pro Tips: don't just worry about the grade, have fun - he is a tough grader at first but if you show concern and email him and take time to go to his office, he will clarify anything for you, but be specific when you ask questions and always double check directions and refer to resources he indicates to you. Extra Credit is available, do it!
Attendance is a must. On the quizzes he gives, take meticulous notes because you will need them. Formatting is important, take care to learn APA paper formatting if you don't already. There is an assignment do every week so time management is crucial.
Dr. Sessoms is by far one of the best professors I have had here at Salisbury. His class is hard, but very educational. If you do the work and go to class you will pass. Go to his office hours when you need help, he loves when students show that they care.
I took this class with 3 other 300 level classes and this was my hardest one. There are two more class meetings and I have 7 assignments due in 9 days or less.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER. Completely terrible.
DO NOT TAKE. Can not stress enough that Sessoms is not a kind man. Not willing to work with you if you mess up in the slightest way like if you submit something incorrectly by accident. Turned in 5 assignments in one day and missed what he said ab submission ended up getting 0/100 on two big assignments that I spent nearly 12 hours on.
You couldn't pay me to take this class again... worst professor on the planet earth.
Although this course is tough and the work load of Professor Sessoms is strenuous, if you make the time to ask for help after class or during office hours it will carry you through the course. Professor Sessoms genuinely cares about building students to become the best educators. There are assignments due every week, and occasional short quizzes.
Even when content of an assignment is excellent, he will give a 0 if not formatted or submitted precisely. Depending on his mood, he might allow students to correct errors, but not always. Course material teaches importance of providing Rubrics, but he does not utilize them. He can be extremely arrogant and expects perfection yet he makes mistakes.
I am a good student but Dr. Sessoms made me feel like I was completely incompetent. He comes off as very arrogant and condescending. I asked a question via email and got a 10 paragraph response lecturing me about the format of my email. I said Good afternoon instead of Good afternoon Dr. Sessoms. Does not care if you pass or fail.
Dr. Sessoms is a professor that is harsh on students work. His grammar and instructions are all over the place. This became confusing when doing assignments. If you make a small mistake you are most likely going to get an 89/100. Not sure why it is 11 points.
Sessoms is a tough grader but that does NOT make him a bad professor. He is very understanding and will help you through any problem you encounter. He truly is preparing students to become respectable teachers. All of the bad reviews here are only mad because he forces you to try and do your best. He doesn't just hand out A's, you earn them.
Everyone says he is not a good professor. I actually thought he was a good professor. Yes, you have a lot of work to do but put in the effort, go to his office hours, ask questions and SHOW YOU CARE and you will do just fine. He truly wants all of his students to succeed. It all comes down to your work ethic with him.
Every week we usually have a paper due and you HAVE to be aware with minor mistakes, even though you think your paper is perfect, he will find a mistake and point it out. There is a method to the madness of some sort and it really helped me push to perfect my assignments, even though I didn't receive full points on most assignments.
He is an extremely hard teacher. When grading assignments if you mess one thing up you will receive a 0%. He does let you fix the assignment for a slightly better grade. If emails to him are not properly formatted then he will not answer you even if your question is very important. If you do take this class online, meeting on zoom is a must!
Awful professor. He's a tough grader without a clear rubric of what he wants. Feedback is unclear and basically meaningless. Avoid him at all costs.
He does not care about your well-being. He grades this class like you are doing it for fun and not for credit, meaning he does not think you have other responsibilities other than this class. He is an insane grader and just not cooperative. I wish you luck if you cannot get out of his class.
Yeah... good luck with him. Things are not clearly defined in assignment details and he will fault you on the smallest thing. This is by far one of the classes I have taken here at SU. Do any and all extra credit you will need it. Show that you care and he might like you but it's still soooo hard. Ask him for advice prior to the assignment due!!
Diallo Sessoms is so selfish and truly does not care about his students. You are basically paying money for him to fail you over tiny errors. He is one of the worst professors Salisbury University has on this campus and I am truly baffled on why he has not been fired yet. I am a great student and not once have I had a professor like him before.
I am the luckiest girl in the world because I was able to drop his class after he gave me 3 zeros in a row for stuff I turned in yet he said I didn't. If you are late to his class three times then your grade will drop a letter grade. Dr. Sessoms does not make sense and does have a habit of ignoring emails. You have been warned.
Dr. Sessoms teachers very little in class. Instructions through on line videos, expects you to figure it out in your own, extremely tough grader, no grading rubric for assignment , lack of detailed expectations for assignment, can come across as condescending in emails and in person. Does not practice what he teaches.
The WORST teacher at SU. Wants perfection without giving clear instruction. Preaches the wonders of UDL and diversifying your instruction, but will give you a zero over format errors and other petty things. Emails are unhelpful at best, rude at worst, or if you're truly lucky, unresponsive. Once went three week without class. Mercy on your soul
Dr. Sessoms canceled class all the time. Out of 15 weeks he held class 6 of those weeks. His assignments are ALOT and very work heavy. Must know how to use google docs. If document is not formatted the correct way you will get an automatic zero. He does not give any directions on the assignments, he expects you to figure it all out on your own.
I've never cried over a class more in my life. Heavily project based, does not provide clear instruction. Enjoys making things difficult.
Very difficult person. SU needs to do better.
Not great at all. Definitely picks and chooses when he wants to be understanding. In his syllabus it says that no one should get an A and expects for everyone to either get a B or a C. Is super strict and doesn’t give any wiggle room for reissuing class even during a pandemic. terrible dude overall.
Worst professor at Salisbury. Professor provides no additional assistance and is disrespectful. Affects my mental health negatively. Overall an awful professor and makes SU look awful as well. Avoid this professor.
He is very unprofessional. He made me cry on countless occasions, destroyed my mental health, made rude comments, changed my grade with no explanation, refused to answer my emails and made me not want to be a teacher. He also makes you feel little and stupid. He is a very hard grader if its not done his way it is a 0. Do not take his class.
We had to attend an hour long Zoom on library information. The next day, we were give a test worth 103 points on very minor but specific details. Totally unfair! He does not respond to emails, if you upset him with any comments about the class. His grading rubric is not clear, but he will deduct 20-30 points for very minor errors on assignments.
He is the worst professor I have ever had!!!!!! Stay away from him if you can!
this class taught me a lot, it taught me that sometimes giving your all is still not enough. the end.
The only thing this class taught me is what not to do in my future teaching career. His grading is unfair. He made multiple students cry in class. He was very rude to students and was always talking to them like they were idiots. He was constantly leaving class leaving students alone and confused. He honestly needs help and I hope he finds it.
I took this course a couple years ago when I was first getting started in the program. I was still very new at "college", and he would NEVER let me forget it. He was the WORST professor I have ever had. He treated me like I was stupid, and never let up. Even when he was incorrect about something, he would still make it seem like it was my fault.
Expectations are too high. Formatting is more important than the content itself.
Very tough grader, would take a large amount of points off for smallest mistakes. Read over all of your writing and projects multiple times befor submitting. Will not answer your email unless it's professional. Only person who teaches this course so just be prepared for his class before, he does give a lot of time to complete assignments
Professor Sessoms is by far the worst professor I've had at SU. Doesn't respond to emails, and cancels classes for weeks at a time, will not be available during his office hours. Will hand out zeros, while grading very specifically with vague directions. The most difficult human I've had the pleasure of interacting with.
Cannot stand this man at all, do NOT take him if you want to keep your sanity as well as your GPA safe
If you plan to take the EDU course, I strongly recommend taking this course online. It is not as bad and he responds to your emails if you have it formatted correctly, so MAKE SURE that your emails are formatted in the way that he wants or he will not respond. MAKE SURE ALL WORK IS FORMATTED, he will take many points off.
0/10 Do not recommend. He provides samples and then dings you on things the sample didn't even provide. He is pesky. For an educated man, you'd never ever guess by his grammar. He is the choice for this class, so there's no avoiding him. SU should rethink his employment. He makes the Education Program look ridiculous.
The worst professor. The only way to succeed is by going to his office hours and he may let you retake assignments. Do all of the extra credit, because he is the most unfair grader so you will need it. Ask questions in class because his instructions online make no sense. Go above and beyond rubric expectations unless he will take points off.
gave me a 0/100 for using word instead of google docs to submit assignment
So sorry for whoever has to take this mans class, sending good vibes. Just do the best you can
This guy thinks he's setting up students for success with his harsh grading for the smallest mistakes. If you're gonna take this class be sure to be absolutely perfect in every way. Make sure you're never sick zero sympathy will be given, as he cancels weeks of his class when it suits him. Student will learn more about formatting than the subject.
You have module quizzes and half of the questions you do not learn. Tough grader, but can submit work early for a proof read before finally submitting. You have to go to his office hours and put your time in to show him you want the grade you want. He is nice in his office hours but hard to read as a class.
This man will assign papers with incomplete or unclear instruction, then refuse to respond to emails, give snarky answers to questions in class and fail you for not including something he did not ask for. Arrogant and unaccusable, if anything, you'll learn what not to do as a teacher from this class.
Beware of this professor. Only take him if you absolutely have to. He favors certain students and is often dismissive or condescending toward others. Instructions are vague, grading is harsh and inconsistent, and feedback is rarely helpful. The class caused a lot of stress and confusion. It did not feel like a supportive space to learn. 0/10 DNR.
Never take him.
Not supportive at all. Makes you feel stupid in class.
Absolutely far and away the worst course instructor I have ever had. His expectations are unknown, he constantly shows little sympathy for others, and his assignments make little sense. I am graded more on how much I grovel at his feet than I am on how I accomplish the work. Please take anyone else if you can.
All the things you hear about him are 100% true. He grades you so unfairly because he never tells you what he actually wants from you in his assignments. He asks you to write about your own opinions and personal experiences, and then takes 15 points off for saying "I" too much in your assignments.
All the things you hear about him are 100% true. He grades you so unfairly because he never tells you what he actually wants from you in his assignments. He asks you to write about your own opinions and personal experiences, and then takes 15 points off for saying "I" too much in your assignments. I unfortunately have to take him again for 301:(
Never felt worse about myself or work than I have while taking this class. Only thing I learned was how to fake a smile while being torn apart. He will be late or cancel your meetings. He shows clear favoritism to students and ignores others. I tried my very best in this class and I am ending feeling disappointed in myself and entirely defeated.
Bad, very very bad. I didnt learn anything in the class and was constantly unmotivated to show up.
Directions are never clear. He does not clarify on instructions. Extremely picky with grading Links must be exactly as directed (directions are not always clear) He will not answer emails if you do not send a "properly formatted" and short email. He is said to be very rude and condescending from those who took his class in person.
Sucked the life out of me. I did not learn anything useful and what he teaches will likely be obsolete when I start my career. Not helpful. Directions are not clear. Rude and has a superiority complex.
