she's very nice. she always made me feel comfortable enought to approach her and ask for help. she's a keeper

Awesome teacher! She's very helpful, and very clear as to what you need to know.
decent teacher...helpful outside of class
One of the worst teachers at tech! She gets confused while she's teaching, and can be overly strict at times. She gives a quiz once a week and gives only ten minuets to do so. You would learn more if took an online course, or taught it to yourself! In other words stay clear of Asmus!!!!
Mrs. Asmus is a wonderful Statistics instructor, this is her field of specialty and really knows how to teach this course. Allows you to rely on the calculator for the mathematics portion, but it's up to you to interpret the information. You will leave her class prepared to apply it in the real world. Highly recommended.
Great teacher to have for statistics. She will get you through if you make an effort
Unreasonable.
Mrs. Asmus was a wonderful teacher. I took her for Maymester in 08, and she was the most reasonable and easy to comprehend math teachers I have ever had. As long as you do your half in studying the material, she will help you greatly to be successful in the class. I really enjoyed her, and have signed up for her statistics class this fall!
LOVED her! She was so sweet and willing to help. I went to her office before the final and knocked it out of the park. She is friendly and smiley. just do the homework and ask questions and she will take notice and also take pity on you! I am terrible at math and got a high B.
She wasn't easy and she wasn't hard.
She was a rude teacher who had very bad teaching methods!I do not reccomend her to anyone!
Awesome teacher
Mrs. Asmus is nice and certainly knows her "stuff." Unfortunately I had a lot of trouble understanding that "stuff." It's a hard class and I've done the homework. Simply doesn't make sense even after asking for more explanation. If you're good in math, Asmus may be the teacher for you. If not, expect to get that help somewhere else.
Tough teacher...tough class. You've got to get the calculator functions down or you will fail. That's all this class amounts to--figuring out the calculator and remembering when to do what function. It's really not statistics at all. Hated the class...and worked my butt off. Didn't understand it, and she couldn't explain it. I didn't do well. YUK!
Diana is a caring and helpful instructor. Her introductory Statistics class was far from easy, but it was very fair. I'd say if you did the homework and studied diligently, there'd be no reason not to get a good grade in the class.
I'm still not sure what to say about Mrs. Asmus. She really knows the material and is helpful. Her tests are hard and she does not give any extra credit, but she will give you partial credit for a problem if you write down what you did. I would recommend her, just study real hard and do ALL the exercises that she lists.
She is a weird bird. She's not nice or mean really. Kind of boring teacher. Do the darn online quizzes early. She is pretty forgiving on tests if you show work and i pulled a B (i am terrible at math). I took pretty good notes and you need to know that calculator like the back of your hand. Also she says the word 'interpret' funny :)
Mrs. Asmus is a really good stats teacher. If you pay attention to her class instruction, learn to do the problems on the calculator, and do the online quizzes you will be fine. For math, it is a relatively easy course. Highly recommended teacher and course.
will all know stats sucks but mrs asmus made it easy to understand took class last semester with mawby she was horrible mrs asmus is a way better teacher take stats withs her
Best Teacher I've had at Greenville Tech so far. She's hard but she's a GREAT TEACHER. Always smiling. Very smart, but checks to be sure you're getting it which is VERY different than other math teachers here. Will meet after class and in her office. HIGHLY recommend. ABSOLUTELY TAKE HER if you can.
Can't believe anyone has anything negative to say about her teaching. HARD class but great teacher.
Mrs. Asmus is a great teacher! got a B with Asmus take her for stats and you will be happy stats is hard but she explains material well you cannot miss class either or you will not get the material you need to pass take stats with asmus Great Teacher Thank You
Took Stats online and it was HARD, but if you read the chapters and use the information the instructor gives you will do fine. Not a lot of interaction, but great teacher! Enjoyed the class!
Ms. Asmus is a really nice lady. She loves what she does, and really wants the class to succeed. I took her for Advanced Stats, and it was a very hard class. But she is definitely willing to go the extra mile to help you out. there were 4 tests, 3 projects, and a final (of course)
She is a wonderful professor. Had her for MAT 109 also. Write what she puts on board because THAT IS THE TEST, she just changes numbers. She is helpful and uses great examples.
Moves fast, so pay attention and take your notes. If you keep up fine, the tests are easy. Does homework online and is easy to make 100 on all of them, so that helps your grade. Helpful and kind.
She is a great teacher!! Makes sure she stops and asks if anybody needs more explanation and is easy to follow. If you do the quizzes and book work(if you need more practice) you should do good. She is def a math teacher to get!!Sad that I have no more math courses to take, I would love to have her again.
I took this class online and when i had questions she was always available to help, overall very helpful and good teacher.
I took her online, and while I'm not math whiz I made it out with an A. She's always available in email, and through her online quizzes and attendance policy she offers a lot of extra points that help you if you miss a few on the test. Tests are great -- she gives 3-4 part questions and gives partial credit even if not everything is perfect.
Very nice and through teacher. Classes are a tad boring but it's the subject not the teacher. Provides all material necessary to do well in class and is always willing to answer questions. Tests are not difficult and final comes from the tests.
I highly recommend taking Ms. Asmus. She is thorough in going over the content, and has a review day. I had to drop MAT 109 the prev semester because I was failing, and I came out with a B in Ms. Asmus' class. She is straight forward and as long as you do the homework, take the quizzes online, you'll be fine.
fair warning! took online course, she does not like teaching online courses, judging by first test her goal is to make you drop the class. strict with assignments, tests are ridiculously long, has short answer as well as math problems, almost impossible to finish in time allowed, this is one to avoid makes the subject much harder than it has to be
Terrible teacher. Rude when you ask a question and isn't clear on anything. The book also didn't make sense. Avoid her.
Mrs Asmus is a nice person however her class is extremely HARD. she refuses to give a study guide or extra credit. I feel like if you are trying your best extra credit should be given. she can be rude at times. she always rush through the material. she does not grade homework. we had 4 test, 2 projects, and online quizzes. im praying i pass!
I had Ms. Asmus for college algebra and she was wonderful so i signed up for her stats class the next semester, again she was wonderful. She lays everything out step by step and makes it as easy as possible.
I do not think that Diana Asmus explains each section well, nor does she do enough examples to help us comprehend what is being taught. She also has so many different concept question so that when you get the test you don't know what to do !
She doesn't deserve any stars. Horrible teacher. Won't answer questions but goes on a 15 min lecture on how the class is already behind a day. Doesn't teach clearly. Very confusing. Talks to students like they stupid. Homework, quizzes, & tests contain material not taught in class. Will tell you not to memorize definitions or formulas. But on the ridiculously long test (you can barely finish in time) you will have to write by hand definitions and rules. The worst teacher I have ever have.
I'm usually not the type of student that complains about there teacher, but Mrs. Asmus is not a very good teacher, in fact, she sucks. She doesn't go over material well. When you ask a question she rambles about everything EXCEPT the question. She talks down to students. Main point here, AVOID AT ALL COSTS, you'll be glad you did.
I hate to say these things, but be warned! 1)material is convoluted.2)HATES questions, almost angry at times.3)condecending to students.4)un approachable.5)creates such a negative classroom experience, that it blocks effective communication.6)constantly blames students for being behind.7)teaching style ? I wouldnt know,it was 99% google.
Had ms. asmus for math 110, not clear at all makes mistakes while teaching. just don’t take her she makes up her own test doesn’t use math dept test. Choose another professor. she is a nice lady though! fair warning.
She is communicates clearly. Her test are composed of the examples that she went over in class. She likes her job and makes statistics really fun/interesting.... Take her
A very nice lady but her teaching skills are HORRIBLE, she rushes through working out problems then wastes half of class time reading the instructions for the quizzes (without working any of the problems out!) Gets frustrated when students ask questions and instead of explaining tells us to get outside help. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.
She is a very good teacher, Though she does not explain things very good, you can always go to her in the math center or her office. Make sure you do the quizzes!!! You can not wait till the last minute with the projects or quizzes. Over all she is a very good teacher!
She is very clear and lets you know just what to do. Everything she does in class pertains to the tests. Great teacher. Not an easy class but with her it is much simpler.
She's nice but I would not recommend this professor! I took bio be4 this class which happened to be during her office hours& when I asked to make an apt with her she always had an excuse to avoid meeting with me. I had no help from this professor. She isn't clear at all and moves through material very fast. I ended up hating physics and this class.
Ms. Asmus is pretty good, I found her to be very helpful but at the same time she was very nit picky about some things in the class work. She made tests long and some were hard and half of the time there were students that didn't have time to finish the test. If you are looking for a real challenge take her!
She is an excellent teacher who is patient with students! Everything you cover in class will help on the test. Don't miss class or else it may be hard to catch up. Use the projects as a guide when studying for her tests. She explains what she expects of you clearly.
awesome teacher!!! always asks if anyone has questions is very clear on how to do everything and if you take notes you'll have no problem!!
She's a good teacher. She just moves kind of fast and doesn't really go into detail when answering questions.
This instructor knows her stuff when it comes to the course. She was always willing to explain and made sure everyone understood. This is a class that you have to attend in order to learn the material. Homework is not graded but class projects will help with your average. Test are exactly what is taught in class.
Tough class, tough teacher. She does want you to know the material for your major, and she does seem to care about her students. She wants you to succeed. Maybe it was her teaching style, or the rush we were in because I took this over the summer, but the clarity just was not there for me. Ask questions during class!!!!
Only grades are tests and in class projects. I attended every class and never felt the need to do the homework for better understanding. Tests are pretty straight forward and she's happy to answer questions if you have them. Easy to seek help from outside of class also as long as you can find her in the math center or during office hours.
WOULD NOT TAKE AGAIN. As a professor she is alright but her personality was awful. I would have dreams about cussing her out. Beware of the stare!!
She has a blunt personality but she is a really good teacher. Do not be offended by what she says to you because she doesn't mean any harm. As long as you pay attention and take good notes you will pass. She gives HW put its just for you to practice. If you don't have money to by a textbook or the cd take her bc she doesn't require you to have one.
She would give homework, and she would go over the homework in class, and you will have 10 projects. When it comes to the test, everything would be different from homework and projects. I did better not going to class, and letting a tutor teach it to me! Before taking the this class, make sure you can handle this crazy teacher.
Mrs. Asmus is unbelievably clear in instructions, which I consider the most important for a math teacher. She is very well organized and patient. Very nice person. Would definitely take her again, perfect teacher for statistics!
I took her class last year; I am currently retaking the course again this semester. I don't usually insult profs but she is awful. She straight up told us at the begin. of the semester that she had not taught MAT 109 in a while & she wasn't familiar with much. She patronizes students & is very condescending. Very annoying voice&mispronounces words.
Test 2, and Test 3, mean avg 58. 25 out of 34 student did not make grade of 60;
I took this class online. Everything was very organized and grades were returned quickly.
I took her class last Spring semester. She is a great professor and her lectures are VERY detailed, including MANY examples. I did all of my homework, asked questions every class on it, I read the textbook when I needed clarification, and I studied. And DON'T forget the projects! Many take her "attitude" personal, but she REALLY wants to help!
Ehh. She goes through the material pretty fast and it doesn't really make sense. Will most likely need a tutor.
Only 7 grades whole semester. Be careful if you get her. Its hard to find anyone outside of the classroom to help so If you fail you fail because there is literally no one that will help you on campus. I tried finding someone to help in the second month and no one was able to besides her but she was too confusing to understand.
The homework has nothing to do with the test. She does not give extra credit. Her tests are aweful and majority of people fail them.
She is a good teacher when she teaching in front of the class. You will learn what she is teaching while in class setting. When it come down to the projects it don't help you with your tests. The projects she have you to do is easy because she give you instruction on how to do it, but the projects have nothing to do with the tests.
She doesn't explain how to use the material in a problem like you would see on the test. She teaches the concept and steps but when given a problem on a test it's difficult because word problems are not the focus during lectures. Be prepared to teach yourself or go to the 1 to 1 tutoring sessions before each test.
She is the worst teacher i have ever had. She is very rude, she will be mean to students by talking sarcastically or down to them. She doesnt care what questions you have or what you dont understand says she doesnt have time and moves on. She hardly knows the information herself. Almost everyone in my class failed. NEVER TAKE HER.
Don't let this class overwhelm she drops lowest project & test grade. Don't drop class simply contact Miss Lori (864) 303-6459! She's an amazing tutor! I almost dropped class because I was failing but I ended with a B :)
Mrs. Asmus is all over the place when she's teaching and shows you too many ways to do problems. It becomes confusing. She also talks to you like you're 5 years old.
She makes sure you're introduced to the basic fundamentals that are used in the advanced problems. If you practice the study guides and ask questions when lost you'll pass.
Professor Asmus is the best professor! She gives great lectures and is willing to stay after class to help you. She cares about her students and wants us to do well! The material is not easy, but with her as my professor I was able to understand and learn quickly. She teaches to all types of learners, not just one. I would highly recommend her!
worst teacher ever. rude, and unhelpful. never take her.
Really easy class! Never had below a 95 all semester! Projects were easy ways to boost your grade!! Same with the online HW!! Tests are SUPER easy!!
If you're going to take a math class, take Mrs. Asmus. The class itself isn't easy but she does everything she can to help. She's very patient and answers every question, she even lets you come to her after class. If you do the Homework you will pass the class, I'm terrible at math and made an A. I would take a class with Mrs. Asmus again for sure
She doesn't teach the content that's on her tests, and relies heavily on a computer program called Minitab to teach concepts - which you can't use on the test.
Teaches everything clearly and projects before each test are a HUGE help. Just be sure to pay attention in her class and write everything she writes on the board!
Mrs Asmus provides materials such as projects to help with tests which are very similar. She replaces the lowest test grade with final grade, if higher. Tutor with Ms Lori or Stephen in the math center if class gets too overwhelming. They are awesome. Overall easy class if you take notes on everything she says. If its on the board, its tested.
Presents very clear information during lecture. If you write down the material that she writes on the board, her class is very simple. This class is composed of tests and projects. Most of the course work is done in Minitab Express, which is provided by the college.
If you pay attention in class, actually write the notes down, do the homework, and turn in your projects you will pass the class. This is my second time having to take mat-120 and when I took her as my professor it actually clicked with me. Shes very sweet and I wouldnt mind having her class again.
If you show up to class and take notes, and do your mystat lab homework everyday and not wait till the end of the semester, you will pass. The same goes for your projects, don't wait till the last minute to start those. She gives plenty of examples out of the book to practice. Get a tutor if needed. She is very sweet and passionate about her job.
With math not being my best subject, the quality of the teacher plays a huge role in my success. Mrs. Asmus is a teacher who wants nothing more than for you to succeed. If you are someone who needs extra help passing math, I would encourage taking Mrs. Asmus' course
Prof. Asmus was a good teacher but I wouldn't take her class again. She had very little personality and class was typically on the boring side. There were also multiple times that she would say something and then correct herself because she said it wrong which cna be super confusing.
I took Professor Asmus during my 2020 Semester. I am not a good math student. Professor Asmus gives feedback and provides help in a way that does not give an answer but to where you can understand the material. Make sure to show up, do the projects they help, homework is easy, and the test are similar to projects, do well on that and you will pass.
She is dedicated to teaching and helping you learn. I was very happy with her teaching and never once was frustrated with her. It's very lecture-based but her homework and tests are almost exactly what she teaches. She has recorded lessons to review, extremely helpful if you're lost or confused in the class. Shes genuine and kind to all students.
Mrs. Asmus is a sweet lady. The content is dry (it's statistics, what do you expect?) but she really sets you up with everything you need to pass the class. You obviously have to do some work, but she has a lot of supportive content available (like step-by-step videos and powerpoints). She is always very helpful -just don't doze off in class!
I took probability and statistics in person with her. It's a super boring and difficult subject, but she was super knowledgeable, and she told me exactly how to do the problems. She was extremely specific in what was required for the class projects. The tests are weighted extremely heavily. But all in all she is an extremely fair teacher.
very hard class, which needs an interesting professor. she was sweet but boring so id doze off. You have to pay attention hard to pass. If you have add dont take. Shes a good professor just not my style of learning
She is a sweet person and is knowledgeable about the subject, but beware, each session will feel like the longest hour and twenty minutes of your life lol. The first unit or two were suspiciously easy, and I got away with not studying, but it got progressively more difficult, so watch out in units 3 and 4. Please study for those.
Amazing teacher!! I took a summer course. Fast paced, but well balanced. Ms Asmus is very open to questions, and genuinely wants you to succeed. She'll provide explanation and clarification, and she goes over homework each class. There are class assignments where she lets you work with classmates. My advice? Take advantage of them, they help a ton!
The course seems easy at first, but about halfway through the semester it becomes more difficult. There are a total of seven in class activities in MAT120 and Professor Asmus drops the two lowest. Remember to study for this course, do practice tests, and watch the tutoring videos. Professor Asmus was helpful and cares about her students success!
