Awesome professor! Has a passion for teaching (and life in general). She wants her students to do well and has fun with the course as well. Would definitely recommend taking a course taught by her.
BEST PROF EVER!!!!! Extremely intelligent and is an awesome lecturer! You can tell she loves teaching this course
Wasn't the prof for this class, but learned more in the hour tutorial once a week than in all the lectures (3) in a week combined. Excellent at communicating material and is highly personable. I took 326 with her as the prof, and was was not the slightest bit disappointed with either. Fantastic job, fantastic instructor.
I'm an Arts kid, but Dianna made me enjoy KIN. She is bubbly and energetic, full of personal feedback and helpful hints. Very clear and always prepared. Fair marker, ensures all TAs on same page. Many reminders and updates throughout semester. She cares abt students' grades but also about their health. A true inspiration.
Finally a prof from our generation. Makes science understandable for those of us with no science background. She is funny and super positive. TA was less helpful, almost a detriment because she often didn't know anything. Diana is a remarkable prof. It's great to see her get excited about what she teaches. I will definitely wait to take Kin 140 wit
Very good prof indeed. She is very lenient on exam question. Her lecture slides covers 90% of the materials you would need for the exam. Though Kin110 hardest would be diet analysis and group project (very time consuming).
Super easy class, easy exams and easy projects. Very helpful prof and keeps you engaged during class. Definitely recommend taking this class just to learn about health and exercise. The textbook was really expensive and not worth the buyback, not needed to get an A (even though she says you do) except first midterm has some stuff from the text.
Shes amazing! She is full of energetic, personal feedback and helpful hints!Very funny too!Very clear and always prepared! She cares about her students very much!Midterms are 98&straight from lec slides or txt!Chose of own topic for presentation,BCP project was very easy for perfect marks, h/w very time consuming!
Very carismatic and energetic instructor. However, this semester she made exams super hard on the later parts which included many questions that were not even mentioned in the text or notes. She probably thought her exams were too easy. Questions for BCP project were vague and marked hard. Work loads were time consuming. Didn't enjoy this class.
Diana bedoya maybe easy to understand, but her exams are super hard!! Diet analysis is hard and you will bang ur head figuring it out! Final is cumulative, STAY away from this class!! HOrrible T.A Barbie and Diana is horrible period!! Useless crap to memorize, take a different elective if u can !!
Took this class with her in summer of 2010. She was awesome. Exams are easy. Homework is time consuming. Her lectures are usually fun. She is very passionate about her "sex lectures." Excellent prof
She is a great prof. Explains things really clearly, and lets you know what she expects out of her students. Do the exam practice problems! HOWEVER TA's weren't all that great. Hard to get in touch with, and tutorials weren't very helpful. Diet Analysis i found quite pointless and should be taken out of the course. . .
very unfair prof. was often late for class. seemed like she copied her notes off wikipedia. also found out this semester that half of the stuff we learned from her was wrong. wasn't coordinated with TA's at all. made exams hard and asked questions we didn't learn. Also was never available for help. took a week to answer emails too
very unfair prof. didn't care about anything at all. found out that half of the stuff we learned from her was wrong. was never available for help and never answered emails until a week later. also completeley uncoordinated with TA's.
I love Diana, she is awesome and very inspiring! Really knows how to teach material in a way that engages students. I have no interest in science whatsoever, so thankfully the class material was brief yet informative. I loved this class, highly recommended!
this class is a gpa booster for sure. I love Diana, great prof, very passionate. Assignments were time consuming, lots of material to know for midterm. final is cumulative but mc is easy. 3rd yr crim student and this was my fave class of the semester! very interesting
awesome prof, really passionate about what she teaches. Easy course also, even if your not a "science" type!
Amazing and enthusiastic prof, and exams are all so easy. Definitely a GPA booster, highly recommended!
I took both KIN 110, 140 with her and SHE WAS THE GREAT. She is the model of the best professor. I love you, Diana!!!!!!!
While I love Diana and her teaching style, the course is weighted heavily on the exams which are killer. You get easy marks for the diet analysis, group project and participation, but unless you memorize the textbook, you're screwed. I walked into AND OUT OF the exams confident, and when I got my marks back I was so stunned. Good prof- hard marker.
A hard marker, the exams are fair, you either know the material or you don't. Great prof, very helpful and really easy to approach. Plus she is always really engaged with what she has to say.
Great Prof. Fantastic teacher and very helpful Highly recommend Diana
Difficult course for anyone who doesn't care for science, but Diana is passionate about the material and also very organized and clear with her lectures. TA Rita was forgettable.
the teachers very motivated and passionate about the subject matter, but everyone was shocked after seeing their exam marks!! u mite do well on diet analysis, but ur in for a surprise for the exams! everything is memorization and it has to be VERBATIM for the exam or u lose marks even though it means the same thing...just in ur words
the course was heavy, but her interest in the subject was very high, which made the course so much fun and so interesting, there is a lot to memorize but her questions are not hard if you pay attention in class and iclicker questions, and the review session she basicly tell you what's going to be on the exam.
Take her class if you can!!! Best instructor ever, course is easy as well. Diana makes you excited on the day you have her class.
One of the best profs I have ever had she makes the material so interesting. Exams were a bit tricky but I would take another class with her if I could.
Took kin 110 and 140 with her, she is the best prof I've ever had.
Easy A. Interesting lectures. Hilarious prof. Extremely understanding. Exams are easy. Assignments are actually enjoyable to do. LOVED her class! If I wasn't a business major, I'd go into kin because of her. Class is a cake walk but it's still really enjoyable and entertaining. As a person, she's fantastic.
Awesome prof, very passionate and will wake you up during the 8:30am lecture. Uses i-clickers for attendance. Weekly tutorial quizes however are quite annoying.
Easiest GPA booster you will ever take. She's an awesome prof who keeps everyone awake during morning lectures. Very relateable prof and the exams are straight memorization and a breeze. Ended up with an A+ and studied 4 hours for the final. Not a lot of work. Definitely suggest taking this course as an easy A and its interesting too!
Diana is an excellent prof. She doesn't try tricking you with her exams; anything she says will be on there always is. Do the study questions as they are an excellent source for studying. Amazing attitude and is passionate about kinesiology as well. Definitely a GPA booster if you study for exams and do well on assignments- which are not difficult
Awesome prof! She's super interesting and relates much of the material to her personal life. She has a very fun personality and likes to make jokes a lot. Exams were easy especially mt and assignments were a breeze. She makes kin so interesting, I would love to take another course with her if I could! :)
Really great prof! Very passionate about nutrition and was very nice. I recommend to get her as a prof, I would enjoy being in her lectures again, lectures are interesting and assignments are fairly easy, great prof overall, she also says funny jokes in class which is a bonus =)at least a 9 on the scale
Great lecturer, relates so much of the lecture material to real life. She shows her self-confidence through the way she speaks.
Diana is awesome! The midterm was super easy however, the final was a little tricky but overall it was a easy course. She is an amazing prof and she makes class super interesting :)
If you don't have a science background, do not take Kin 110. We had our midterm today and it was pretty tough for someone who has not learned any anatomy or biology since grade 10. She should make the exams a little easier and less tricky!.
The best prof I've had yet! She is clearly passionate about the subject - funny and makes the course really interesting. I had an 830 class but never had any trouble staying awake in class
Diana is a great lecturer. Though attendance is not mandatory, I suggest you go for the clicker participation marks, and also the fact that she is really good at what she does. What she says will be on the midterm is on the midterm; there are no surprises. Her passion in the subject and her presentation skills are inspiring too.
Hands down the best proff I've had. If you attend class and just sit there and listen she is so good at explaining that you just understand. For a two hour lecture that starts at 8 30 basically everyone was engaged and listening. Her midterms are completely fair.
THE BEST prof I've ever had! I looked forward to getting to class at 8:30am because her class was amazing. Super super passionate, a great speaker, relates to students well and tells you exactly what you need to know, and emphasizes what's important. I'm not even in KIN but I would take another KIN course with her simply because she's AMAZING!
awesome prof. very fair and makes the material very easy to understand. LOVE her
I really enjoyed this class. She is very very nice! Midterm was fair, multiple choice, short answers, and fill in the blanks! Only one assignment divided into 3 sections! Quizzes every week in tutorial!
so nice and understanding, and takes time for each student regardless of how busy she is!
I found it a delightful course regardless of the work that had to be done, it is a science course so expect memorization! (Which isn't really all that much compared to most other courses I've taken). Diana is amazing! She knows how to teach and is really interested in the course material.
Diana is a fantastic proff, very clear and passionate about health! She makes early morning starts not so bad! However, I found the exams to be extremely difficult. The TA's were terrible and confused my ability to learn material. I would study for quizzes and still do poor. Marking is a bit unfair. Diana as a lecturer is great though!
Amazing prof, her lecture notes are simple and explained very well. She is just great.
Awesome prof! Easy class. If your actually interested learning about health this class is for you. Just do the assignments and study for the exams and you'll easily end up with an A. Love Diana!!
If you are not a science student like me, I don't think it will be a GPA booster class for you. Just had midterm today. It was fair and a little bit tough, NOT easy! I am a 3.8 GPA student in business, and I might receive a B in this class. Hope her marking will be fair. TA Clara is nice. Overall a great teacher. Never makes me fall asleep at 830.
Overall a very interesting prof. Shes good at explaining and keeping you interested during lectures. The midterm was fairly easy as long as you study her study questions. The final was pretty hard though, some of the questions were not from her notes or in her study questions. The weekly quizzes were annoying and the TA was very picky.
Had an awesome sense of humour, kept the course interesting, crystal clear with her expectations.
To be honest, she is very nice and very helpful. But her midterm was soooooo hard. Take this class if you need it.
BPK 110 Online DONT TAKE IT. I completed the readings, re-read and fail on quizes because they're so ridiculously hard. I believe diana had so many "she's easy prof" reviews she went WAY out of her way to make this course living hell. Be prepared to get plummeted with 1000 unrelated facts and expect them on MT/Final.
Diana is probably one of the best professors I've had - very clear, passionate, loud, and cheerful (definitely helps at 8:30 in the morning). She is very knowledgable about what she does and is always there to help. Her midterms are based off of her study questions and what she emphasises in class is very important. She doesn't try to trick you.
Very good, clear, definitely knowleadgable on what she teaches
This course is suitable for those who are good at memorizing. There are plenty to memorize. If you're not good at it, Exams are tough DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. Yes Diana is a great professor as much as a great marking killer also.
She is so helpful and great prof. Btw, she is so hotttt!!!
She is passionate in what she teaches, and encourages you to apply the things you learn. She is a role model.
You need to study - hard. I am a social science student and am taking the class for science credit. The midterm average was 51%. I received an A, but I literally studied for 2 weeks every day straight. The course content is very interesting, however, if you don't want to put in the work, don't take the class. Prof seems amazing!
Found her teaching style super condescending, and the course material relating to social stuff suuuper normative and alienating. Not a tough class for a science credit but if you have any kind of social justice framework or are a queer, etc. you might find this class infuriating.
She is very knowledgable. Makes lectures enjoyable. However, it's difficult to take what she says in lecture and apply it to exams. She lectures the way we talk on a daily basis, or what we hear in the mediasurroundings everyday. Exams are very tough. TA wasn't helpful, never replied emails.
Diana is a very engaging lecturer and is very friendly! She was always smiling and is definitely a role model. The class was very interesting but you have to really study for the final. The TA was horrible.
I went in with the idea that this would be an easy class for my science credit, but I had to work for it. It's a fast-paced class, and memorization is crucial. The material is extreeemely useful for your daily life, and I refer back to the content I learned all the time when making health decisions.
She is a very good prof. Interesting morning classes to keep you awake. Assignments are not too bad and exams were fair. Found the final harder than the midterm though. There are also attendance marks so going to class may be a good idea. She is also very open to questions.
Hardest class ever . Interesting but exams are very tough . Get ready to memorize every single things cause you won't pass if you don't . I wish I never took it
Pretty good professor. Very friendly and can gives pretty awesome advices, let it be for studies or life. Attendance is mandatory and you have to be professional. He hates to see someone use a cell phone.
Great prof. The course is challenging - there's a lot to learn and memorize. It is an enjoyable course, though. Diana has great insight for a lot of the issues (specifically diabetes and eating disorders) which i found to be pretty cool. She really knows what she's talking about and is very enthusiastic about the topics.
took this class for a science credit. it is by no means an easy A because you need to work at it, stay on top of the readings and memorize a lot of material for the midterm and final. however, the weekly tutorial quizzes helped to keep my understanding in check. motivational and super nice! the TA was terrible though. take it in burnaby!
Diana is an extremely enthusiastic professor and she definitely knows how to properly deliver a lecture in a morning class. Her teaching style is crisp and her exams are very straight forward. Just study off her notes (textbook not needed) and you'll get an easy A for sure.
Great professor! She's very passionate and interested in the field of nutrition and you see that from how she presents her lectures! Giving her a 3 for easiness because her class isn't easy but not really that difficult. Put in the time, stay organized week to week, don't leave it all to the end, and most of all ENJOY IT and you'll do great!
Diana's an amazing prof. She is extremely intelligent and is a wonderful lecturer. Her class was very interesting, and her passion for the topic is inspiring. Definitely worth taking.
Diana is one of the best profs I've had at SFU. You can tell she loves what she teaches. Her midterm and final was fair. Make sure you attend lecture to receive 10% participation. There are weekly quizzes as well, but as long as you glance over the material before tutorial you'll be fine. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS CLASS.
She is so passionate and inspirational I would reccomend this class to anyone. Its a science.. you need to study! Memorizing is a big part of it but also understanding the material. Tests were fair and she gives you assignments that help boost your grade if you dont test so well. Overall amazing prof
BEST PROFESSOR AT SFU HANDS DOWN, I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A GOOD TEACHER BEFORE. ALL HAIL THE QUEEN OF BPK! PS. I GOT AN A+, AND I DID NOT TRY AS HARD AS I COULD HAVE, BECAUSE SHE MADE EVERYTHING CRYSTAL CLEAR 3
Avoid!!!
I took 326 with Diana. I found going to lecture to be very helpful in understanding terms, understanding physiological pathways.. She transmitted a lot of enthusiasm about the material which was very motivating to study harder. She tells you what type of qs there will be on the midtermfinal. will def take her again!
This is more a review of the class since I never interacted with Professor Bedoya. The TM I was assigned to was awful, she did not have a great grasp of English and this made many instructions unclearconfusing. Overall the class was not hard, but you have to stay on top of assignments and study hard for the final if you want to do well.
I love Diana! She teaches with such passion you are never bored. The class inspired me quit smoking, really enjoyed this class would definitely do it again!
DIANA IS WONDERFUL, I TOOK BPK140 WITH HER AND IT WAS REALLY INTERESTING. I WOULD RECOMMEND HER CLASS FOR ANYONE. SHE INSPIRES YOU A LOT AND SHE MAKES HER TEACHING CRYSTAL CLEAR. SHE IS INDEED WONDERFUL. I LOVE HER AND WOULD SURELY WANT TO TAKE A COURSE WITH HER AGAIN.
Most of the test material is from lectures (study questions that TAs post on Canvas are super helpful). If you've taken Bio 12 etc you'll have less trouble, but there's still detailed nutrition stuff that isn't covered in normal bio classes. The prof explores different views on nutrition issues and makes even 8:30AM lectures interesting!
Diana is extremely personable. I struggled with this course as there is so much material to memorize but she really helped find comfort in discomfort. I did not do nearly as well as I had hoped but honestly you should study your flashcards RIGHT AWAY. This is by far the most challenging course I've taken simply due to the volume and expected detail
She clearly enjoys what she teaches. Very engaging with her students and makes her early lectures enjoyable. Textbook is not needed but if you want to go that extra mile then go for it. Everything on midterms and exams is based on her lecture slides.
She is an incredible prof who is super passionate about her work. Her lectures are missable if need be because she posts all the slides on canvas, but I would not recommend it because she does detailed diagrams and goes way more in depth during lecture. And also gotta get that iclicker credit! She's funny and very likeable. Great teacher and person
I LOVE DIANA! She's so funny, passionate about what she does and made it really easy to go to that 8:30am lecture! A lot of people say this is "easy credit" but it's not... Yes, she is very clear with what is on the exam, and the lecture slides have all the information you need but you do need to out in the time to memorize. However, loved it!!!
She really knows the material and how to teach the material in an effective manner. I wish she could have taught all my courses, but that's apparently not how life works. I have a theory that she was created in a laboratory that creates incredible individuals to become the absolute top professor in her field. No evidence against it so far...
Diana seems genuinely interested in what she teaches, which often makes it more interesting. However, she makes it seem like some concepts will not be important for the final/midterm, but do not trust this. She will test on anything. Including from pictures. Study her slides religiously, every single detail, and you will do well.
I really enjoyed Diana's enthusiasm during the lectures and she really cares for her students. Her assignments are not too bad and you can generally get a good mark on them. The weekly quizzes and the exams are full of specific details on her slides. So if you are someone who's great at memorizing, go for it.
Passionate about the material and her teaching ability reflects that.
Diana is such a great prof!!! Clearly cares for her students and lectures are very enjoyable. Go to lecture for easy participation marks! If you need help, ask for it EARLY. Diana and your TA are very accessible and you should see them if you need help with the project or course content. The material's not extremely hard, so just put in the work.
Such a good professor - would def take a class with her again. Made some of the topics which could have been very dry super interesting. She was very passionate about nutrition and it really translated in her teaching. Overall 100% recommend.
Clear Lecture, Amazing Lecture, Hilarious
Really nice, passionate about the topic and really goes in depth with explaining what you need to know. Wouldn't say class is mandatory unless you care about the 5% iClicker mark, b/c you can pretty much get the info you need off of her slides, but she does explain it in more detail. Tests are kinda hard - wants you to know word for word.
Honestly, I wish I never took this class as an science elective. There are easier science electives out there. The exams are pretty tricky. Do NOT bother studying the textbook unless specified. Diana/TAs may act like the textbook is necessary but it's not. She only tests from lecture slides. If you study both you'll end up overwhelmed.
I found this course to be a bit challenging until the final. I took it as an elective (I'm in business) and found this course to be a lot of effort. If you want a B-, B, or B+ a half ass attempt will get you it. But if you want A- or above you have to revise weekly and stay on top of EVERYTHING. Every mark counts for an A. That includes iClicker.
Diana is hands down my favourite prof so far. She's so caring, inspirational, and motivating with her lectures. The two hours don't aren't boring and dry in comparison to other classes I've taken. I looked up to her all semester and I think she's an amazing person in general. The class content was quite easy to understand too, and exams were fair!
GREAT PROF! Fair course.
She's a caring prof who makes the 8:30 lectures enjoyable. Highly recommend taking BPK 110 with her.
Tedious course for a science elective. Multiple choice is tricky too - the written response is pretty much out of her review package she gives before each exam (mid term and final) and FIB is from tutorial questions (easy). However, MC is where people tend to loose marks on tests because she tests from RANDOM slides. So study EVERY slide for MC.
Interesting and knowledgable person and very kind over all but found course too heavily based on pure memorization. No thought needed for anything just answer what she tells you. Tests literally made us list out every point on the slides. But if u got photographic memory, this is the course for u
Diana is a wonderful prof. and she really cares about what she's teaching. She makes 8:30 lectures enjoyable with her attitude. The course requires a lot of work, especially time to memorize. The midterm/final exam multiple choice was quite tricky, but written questions come from her study guide. She gives marks for iClicker attendance, easy marks.
Diana is an amazing lecturer. She is very passionate about the course content and inspires her students to have a healthy diet and lifestyle. Not an easy A if you do not have an interest in the course and not willing to memorize a ton of materials. Just invest in your time and you'll do great!
Lectures are interesting but exams are not. You need to remember every single word on her lecture slide. Don't recommend if you don't have science background or a good memory.
Diana is easily one of the best prof's at SFU. I had her for 326 and she was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. More than anything, she's a wonderful person. Truly kind, caring, and inspirational. I highly highly highly recommend taking a course with her. She's so amazing!!!
Heavy focus on whatever is on her lecture slides and supplementary material from the textbook. Material on lecture slides were not enough to get full marks on exams and had to have explanations from the textbook to get the full mark. If it's a list of things it'll probably on exams. Great prof but not worth the 8:30 class, Just take online
Diana is by far one of the best profs I've had. She is very knowledgeable and her lectures are very inspiring. She gives a clear criteria on what will be on the exams. However, her exams are kinda tough so be sure to study a lot!
She really cares about the subject and does her best to explain things clearly by drawing things out. Never bored during her lectures. Studying all the different types of vitamins and minerals got a little bit boring but overall great class.
Diana is a great professor. She is kind, cheerful and SO GORGEOUS (it was a little distracting lol). She makes it a lot easier to stay awake and learn at 8:30 AM. As someone who doesn't have a background in science the course required a lot of studying. It isn't easy but it is interesting and relevant to your own health! TA was not helpful at all.
Diana is a great prof. She spends a lot of time going over subjects that students have had trouble with in the past and tries her best so that everyone understands. Coming from a science major, it was a little redundant but she still kept lecture entertaining. She also made an effort to eliminate the textbook.
Diana is an awesome prof, it is obvious that she loves teaching. However, she doesn't reply students' email...
Diana was an awesome prof. I took this course and enjoyed it a lot. However, if you want a great mark you have to work for it. The good thing is that she tells you whats going to be on the midterms/finals so showing up is crucial and that you should ONLY focus on the lecture notes. Use the textbook as a supplement!
Diana is a really inspiring professor and you can really tell she cares about the stuff she lectures about. Although you do more work and have to study a bit more than in Peter Reuben's BPK 140 class, it is still a really easy class and a great science credit for people who need one and for people who aren't science majors.
I clickers for attendance. MT/Final all based on lecture notes only. Easy if you've taken BISC 101 or even Bio 12. She gives good lectures but if you skip a few its no big deal. Go to tutorial to complete assignments and the TA is your crutch for the diet analysis project (which are easy marks if you follow the rubric). Good prof overall
Diana is super passionate about what she teaches. I like that she draws experience from her own life to make it more relatable and memorable for her students. She answers questions thoroughly, and really wants her students to succeed. She is inspirational too and her lectures are very interesting!
If you're looking for a super easy elective I wouldn't recommend Bpk 110. That being said if you put in the work and are really good at memorizing its an easy A+. Exams are pretty straight forward, just memorize the slides and as long as you show up to tutorial and lectures you'll get the grade. Projects were also almost a guaranteed 100%.
I took this course because I needed a science credit, and I'm so glad I did. Diana is my favorite prof, she really cares about her students well being and she is also hilarious. Made 8:30 lectures really enjoyable. She relates material back to her own experiences and explains things really well. Would take every class with her if I could!
She was absolutely amazing. She goes over all the specifics and details so even if you have no science background, you still understand. She's really cheerful, especially for an 8:30 am class. Just all around, a good prof and I would take this class again with her!
I could listen to Diana for hours. You will learn so much from her that will be useful to apply to your own life. Diana is so nice & very approachable. She is 10/10 my favorite professor in SFU. Taking BPK 110 was very fun and enjoyable. Attendance is mandatory because of iclicker. Her notes are very good but you still need to red the textbook.
Diana is 100% my favorite prof at SFU. She really cares about her students and applies the course material in a way to help us make healthier choices in our lives. Go to office hours if you're ever confused on the material as she is always willing to provide extra help. So glad I took both my science credits with her, would highly recommend!
GREAT PROFFESSOR. Her lectures were so engaging and understandable. Not a dry class at all. Super kind and always answers students questions. Literally one of a the few 8:30am lectures that I could be totally interested in. Her assignments are relevant and you learn a lot of things in this class. Participation via iClicker is 10% of your grade.
I love Diana and I also love this course. But the tests were garbage. Expects a lot from us, we need to write super detailed in order to get a good mark. TA was kind of rude if you go to her. Need to memorize everything but I'm a English learner it's super hard. Take it if you are good at memorizing. Lectures are fun tho.
I took nutrition online with Diana, so I've never had a class with her in person. However, her slides, textbook, and online structure really make the class easy to follow and provide good outlines of each chapter. Nutrition is still a science class, so get ready to read and memorize lots of terminology.
Loved this prof. She is a great teacher and her lectures/slides are clear with useful study questions. Tests are straight forward as you know exactly what youre studying for. I wish she taught all my classes!
The final exam was quite heavy. Recommended to take this class if you are good at memorizing.
Enjoyed her style of teaching and the class was fun overall. Easy A if you put in the work. However, her grading criteria can be really vague and hard to go off of when doing assignments. No midterm, easy bi-weekly quizzes if you do the study questions. Final was harder than quizzes, but had similar questions, and asked to design a questionnaire.
Hard subject so expect class to be hard.
Such a good prof!! She was amazing!! She made an 8:30am class easy and exciting to attend and her lectures were very clear and organized. Best teacher ever!
Professor Bedoya is passionate about what she teaches her students! Her lectures are very well organized and she makes 8:30 am lectures interesting! Make sure to attend lectures, in order to understand specific slides more clearly and in-depth. If you have questions, she is always available during office hours! She is an amazing prof! :)
she is a very nice professor. explains every concept very clearly.
Terrible prof. Expects us to memorize over 10 pages of readings (each of them like 13 pages) in addition to lectures (50+ slides per lecture). 340 was supposed to be an easy course, but Diana made it unnecessarily difficult and added an unnecessary amount of stress on the students during an already tough time. DO NOT take any courses with her
Beyond horrible at teaching. Has crazy, unrealistic expectations from students, doesn't reply to emails. Felt like she wanted to teach the course so she could take the opportunity to stress students out. Run far far away from her. Absolutely horrible
The professor has no respect for her students, she doesn't reply to the emails either and she expects an unrealistic amount of knowledge in order to be able to do well on the exam. Marking criteria is vague and what she says in lecture contradicts some correct answers on exam, which makes it hard to do well. Overall, I would not recommend at all.
This semester I've had tough classes, and BPK 340 wasn't supposed to be one of them. However, Diana made the class unbearable! She doesn't reply to emails. Quizzes are so difficult & timed. Feedback on the quizzes is useless. She is rude & doesn't care about the well-being of her students. I regret everyday taking this class with her. AVOID DIANA!
Would not recommend the remote version of this course. Layout consists of 3 very subjective assignments. You can hit all the notes on the rubric and still receive a 75% with no explanation of why or how. Syllabus is deceiving. Looks straightforward but the expectations are held at perfection. Material is dry and grades will be scaled down. Not fun
This prof doesn't teach. It feels like she's taken the pandemic as an opportunity to load more stress on the students. The course itself isn't horrible and should be easy, but Diana makes it unbearable. I recommend the course if you're looking for an easy course but just avoid Diana Bedoya at all costs. She's beyond awful
I think SFU should get a new professor. She has zero care for students and doesn't reply to my emails. The quizzes and assignments are marked a lot harder than it should be and she refuses to change the marks when they are marked wrong. Her conduct towards students is plain disrespectful... she shouldn't be a prof.
During the pandemic, she does weekly IGTV lives to engage with us. But she doesn't reply to emails and probably doesn't care to. She's not as easy as people make it, but she's also not the worst. Her energy is nice, but it doesn't make up for her high expectations. I studied a lot for the midterm and still did bad. Not easy for a 100 course.
Amazing professor and really chill and understanding. Outlines important concepts and highlights material likely to be found on exam. Quizzes and Exams are fair and come directly from the slides. For a distance ed. class she was extremely active and involved in the class. Office hours extremely helpful. Definitely recommend!
Diana is hands down one of the BEST profs at SFU. She delivers the most engaging lectures I have ever experienced (even for 8:30am classes) and is always very organized. All assignments and exams are straight out of the textbook so you always know what to expect. I am not a KIN major but being in her class definitely makes me want to switch!
Diana Bedoya is an amazing prof and her exam questions are quite predictable. She makes this course fun even though there is a lot of content being provided. But yes, you have to review the material often to do well.
I'm rating the difficulty based on how much work and precision is required for an A. The TA provided the least helpful feedback I've ever received. 2 of 3 assignments had a rubric, however, the marking scheme was far from clear. Adhering to the instructions/rubric will get you a B. Your ideas must be revolutionary to receive an A. Woudnt recommend
Marks were taken off on assignments that met all the criteria for no reason other than that the TA didn't personally vibe with it. Diana is a very nice prof but her lectures don't explain the concepts super well and it felt impossible to get a good grade. My gpa is like over 4.00 but i still suffered. She is good for bpk110 but bad for bpk340.
Certainly not a GPA booster. She was very effective at teaching lower division courses, as well as BPK 325, but this class was brutal. Marking was unreasonably tough. Feedback was not insightful, nor helpful. The lectures do not equip you with the skills needed to excel. Trust me, an A in this course is far fetched.
Im not one to leave a review, but the structure of this course was not conducive to success. The marking of assignments and quizzes was unlike any upper division Ive completed. Simply did not make sense a lot of the time, yet the TA and professor would reconsider nothing. The rubrics were rendered useless, as was every piece of feedback.
Diana was super sweet and made her lecture videos easy to watch. If taking as an OLC class (I'm not sure about regular classes during COVID) the midterm and final are proctored, which made things a lot more stressful for me at least.
Had her for 2 classes before 340 and I was very pleased. This semester, beyond disappointed. Prematurely releases final grades. Does not respond to important emails. Heck, doesnt even let you see your exam mark, let alone the mark breakdown. This prof and TA combo was atrocious. Worst of my 4 year sfu experience.
Lots of reading (will basically read 400 pages by end). Content is interesting in terms of nutrition/exercise (took as elective). Assignments are very straightforward, can ask TA for clarification. Quizzes are also very easy as it's open book. Midterm/final tough, remember the smallest details, and lots of content. Genuine/caring prof.
Diana is the best prof I've had at SFU. A great course to fulfill your B-Sci. I took it distance ed, just watch the videos, read the textbook, and do the study questions and you will get a good grade. Content is straightforward.
I was triggered by the harshness of the marking of the Mid-term and Quizzes. There really was no warning. There is a coldness in regards to student circumstances. If you are a sensitive person then it may be wise to avoid this prof. She isn't very understanding or personable on a deeper level, despite the outward show of friendliness.
Made lectures very interesting and was easily accesible to watch and understand.
Diana Bedoya seemed very kind at first but she was barely present for the learning process of this class. You basically have to teach yourself everything and the exams ask dumb questions that you don't learn about and never even think to google before an exam. She made it seem like she cares about your learning but barely interacts with students.
Diana is the best prof I have ever had at SFU. She marks pretty hard and definitely makes you work for a good grade, but her teaching style is AMAZING: very engaging, passionate, and easy to understand, she knows what she is doing and is incredibly organized.
I was so excited to take a course with Dr Bedoya after having read these amazing reviews. She is definitely a great person but man she is just so inaccessible. don't expect any email replies or replies on discussion boards... It feels as though because she did a good job setting up an online course, she said, that's it my job is done and peaced out
pick any other prof
extremely frustrating class. content is interesting but diana and her TAs put zero effort in staying in contact with students... she encourages students to use discussion boards but these are monitored maybe once every three weeks avoid this prof at all costs
Diana is one of the best professors I've had at SFU! She creates engaging lectures and all of her exams/quizzes are tested from her slides or the assigned (2-3 pages) of reading. Would 100% recommend her! Amazing professor!
This prof has little command of the field she teaches in, nor does she teach well. She is nearly impossible to reach, and takes a very cavalier attitude toward the lessons and readings. Avoid her at all costs -- you won't learn much, and yet it is a time sinkhole.
lots of papers and their topics not be posted until only 1 week before. Discussion board was barely monitored either by prof or TM. Not accessible by email. So you only have 1 office hour a week or dumb Instagram live which I personally didn't like. But course contents were well authored and textbook was written by the prof so it was succinct.
Read the textbook, and take good notes and you'll get a decent grade just from that. If you stick it to the prerecorded lectures only, you'll do not so good. Her textbook is great, lectures vids are ok, great course though, favorite science elec, highly recommend if your into nutrition/fitness.
I really enjoyed BPK110. The lectures were asynchronous. Quizzes were open-book. Exams questions were very similar to practice quizzes and exams. There were no trick questions ever. The project was straightforward too. The class was interesting and the lecture videos made by the prof were informative and provided a great snapshot of the textbook.
Diana is an amazing prof. She is very knowledgeable about the content and is always willing to help her students. Her midterm and final exam were fair and if you study and do the readings, you should do well in her course
midterm and final are fairly graded one ongoing project that you do throughout the semester that is relatively easy and low maintenance she is lovely and you can tell that she cares about her students and is passionate about her work
Never replies to any email. Her videos are ok, but for the midterm and final online, it takes almost an hour to check IDs as it isn't an open book, and you have to be on camera the whole time. Worst experience ever. The videos and slides aren't enough, so get the textbook. She's not very considerate either.
Amazing prof. Breaks things down in lectures to make it clear for all knowledge levels. Lectures are very well made and engaging. It's clear she has passion for the subject and teaching about it. Very interesting assignments and lessons you'll remember going forward in life even if you aren't pursuing kinesiology. 10/10 would take again.
The tests were completely unreasonable for a first year course. I am graduating from SFU and this was a top 3 hardest class I have taken and it was an elective. Avoid this class and prof at all costs.
One of the best profs at SFU! Never heard anyone complain about any of her courses. Very interactive and the tests are easy. The study material is very organized and one can easily get A's if pay attention in class. Super understanding. I'm still in touch with her 2 years after taking the course. Fav prof. of all time!
Overly enthusiastic about this course. For the midterm and final, we had to stay on a Zoom meeting with video on and she checks IDs and makes everyone show their desk and surroundings which I found such a waste of time and so unnecessary. Her concepts are all based off of a textbook she wrote and is way too much work for an elective.
Im not in BPK or science and did fine, if you took Bio 12 in high school you'll be totally fine taking this class, a lot of the same concepts. I took it online and her videos were helpful. the info you learn from this class is very useful outside of school but definitely isn't a GPA booster if you don't study. the assignments and quizzes were easy
The content was very interesting. Her projects were very straightforward but you really need the textbook as her slides do not cover enough information. However, she was impossible to get a hold of. Exams were insanely difficult as the questions were so specific. Hardest exam I have ever taken. Took as an elective and definitely not a GPA Booster.
Prof Bedoya is an amazing lecturer. She makes 3 hour lectures at 8:30am something to look forward to. You can tell she is really passionate about her courses and wants her students to do well. She is funny, and loves to engage with the class. This is my second course with her and I can't wait to take another one with her.
Really enjoyed the lectures and felt like I got a lot out of them. They were engaging and informative. Diana is caring and truly wants you to do well in the course, she gives good guidance for exams.
Literally so much material to remember in not enough time. Takes so long to mark simple assignments. Nice tho
Worst course I have taken at SFU.
3 projects, midterm, final + biweekly quizzes. Easy course. Okay prof. Diana wasn't bad, but wasn't very accessible. Makes us buy her own textbook but its only $25 and you don't reallllly need it.
I've taken several of Diana's classes and have enjoyed them. I particularly enjoyed her teaching 340. She does have a voice that puts you to sleep at 8:30a, but she's good at breaking lectures up into group activities that are related to the final. Can be a difficult grader, exams based on lectures and readings. Really well presented OL courses.
She is a queen, she taught 326 very well in my opinion. I recommend taking 326 with her if you get the chance, it is not an easy class but she does a pretty good job at teaching it. She is also very raw and real and you can tell she is constantly trying to improve and help us in any way she can. Great teacher overall
Pro: Teaches the material well and is passionate Con: Exams focus on minor details. Exams are short answers, fill-in-the-blanks, and multiple choice. If you wish to get a high grade, you must read the textbook thoroughly. The questions in the exams require the ability to apply material, not definitions. Exams were unnecessarily stressful.
Her online lectures were done well and she seems very nice. Her projects were interesting and well graded however, midterm asks lots of minor detailed questions and you need to read the textbook for them.
Honestly her lecture videos are great and engaging, but then you get to the exam and it has not a SINGLE thing from the lecture, super frustrating. She asks the smallest details on the exams which is stupid. Assignments were easy but tbh don't take this class unless you need to.
Engaging lectures, but exams focus on minor details. Though textbook is required, unstuck study can be a helpful study tool alongside it. Overall, manageable with consistent effort.
Diana is super caring and a great lecturer. Fair exams and quizzes. However, the projects dented my grade, which is disappointing considering how much work/time I put into them. By part 3 of the assignment, I was super stressed and gave up. My grade was in the A range before the project and now I'm at B+...so my efforts feel a bit wasted.
Diana had very engaging lectures, and the concepts of the class were interesting and fun to learn. Unfortunately, the tests did not at all encompass what we learned in class. She would test on minor details found in the textbook that were not covered in lecture or mentioned at all throughout the course. She constantly changed deadlines as well.
assignments are easy and worth a good portion of your grade however fina and midterm are tough and you need to memerize all processes in textbook. prof was super nice tho and made lectures/online videos intresting. mc quizzes in tutorial every two weeks were hard but not worth much. i would take this course if you need a science/bpk.
She is so sweet and clearly wants to help you learn more about your body and improve your relationship with food. You have to buy her textbook and she teaches using a flipped classroom model. Her exams were hard but fair, and there were biweekly quizzes in tutorial. Make sure you stick on top of readings because there is a lot of material
She's very friendly and you can tell she's passionate about what she teaches but her exams are pretty difficult. 80% of it is fair but there will be a couple questions that make you mad because she's purposefully trying to trick you. She often makes announcements at the last minute which is annoying as some of us take an hour to get to class.
