diana is awesome!!! she is sooo nice just like her wonderful husband! take her :)
She helps alleviate the fear of public speaking. She's a great, personable teacher. A few major speeches are assigned, and two minor speeches plus outlines. Tests are based on the book, so read it (or at least skim) and you'll do fine in the class!
She wants you to interp. everything the way she sees it (isn't the point of interp. to actually interp., in your own OPINION?). Her tests are BS considering she never lectures on that material. I wouldn't take her class again.
Crossman comes off like a Ms. Nice person, but in the end she shows who she truly is: mean spirited and will tell you off in class. She does not give tests based on lecture nor does her lecture reflect info in book. DO NOT RECOMMEND HER!
don't like the way she talks down to you. she's always right. her tests are bad
Fun class.Easy if you are an actor.Made me think about joining the speech team.
Prof. Crossman may not be the nicest or easiest teacher, but she is a very fair teacher. She doesnt put up with students that constantly talk during her lectures or that come in late. Personally, the biggest gripe I have is that there are not enough points in the class.
I loved this class and I learned ideas to tryout on my boyfriend. I wish he would have taken it with me. She was great with me, I needed some help. I really see some mistakes I have made in past relationships.
She is a nice person, but is also pretty snobbish at times - she doesn't realize when she's being condescending. Very good teacher, though. SP12 is a very fun class - recommend for anyone in a relationship. SP1 is pretty straightforward. Overall, good teacher, but sometimes her snobbyness will irritate you.
She rocks! I've had her for two classes and learned alot...take her!
She talks down to you and makes you feel like less than a person. She will embaress you in front of class and yell at you from time to time in front of everyone. She often cancels classes without notice, she misses class pretty often.
You absolutely have to be open minded before taking any of Diane's classes. She wants to help you and see you improve. She gives constructive criticism thats useful, so don't get defensive. I haven't seen any blowups, I don't know what they other people are talking about when they call her a ****.
She was a big snob. If you have confidence in yourself do not take her class. She grades well if you are scared like a wet puppy but if you get up there and she feels as though she really can not teach you much it bothers her. If she could have graded me down she probably would have but I kept all of my work and did well on the test.So I got a B.
She was nice to me, but I knew my stuff during her questions, maybe you didn't. I'm taking her again for speech 8. Do your work, you'll be fine! I came through liking speaking more than I thought I would.
She is a nice teacher. Not picky on how nervous u are and not strict on the speach. Likes confident people with good topics. Got a B in the summer.
She is a quality teacher I must say. She knows how to get the important information into the students head without all the BS. I have a lot of respect for her. She can be ****y... but its in a "you go girl" type of way. I say take her, shes cool
Enjoyed both the Communications and the Oral Interpretation courses. They seem easy and I thought I wasn't learning until later when I realized I had taken in a lot of good stuff. She keeps the class interesting and has a really pleasant personality.
She was a good teacher at the beginning. She grades pretty well. She can be snobby. Don't get on her bad side. On the midterm most people got low C's and D's and we don't know why. I am glad the class is over, but she was okay.
She's a really nice professor, if you do what she says you'll pass the course. In my opinion, the class is not hard at all. She'll make you feel confortable.

She sucks as an instructor. I feel that she favors certain students. If you are not scared to speak she picks on you, but the students who are ready to pass out in class from fear, she caters to them more. So even if you are not scared to speak in front of people act like it anyway.
She made the class clear and it wasn't that hard.Lots of El Co lamo-s in my class-came in late, didn't take notes. If you are a serious student you will be fine-take someone else if you can't hang.
Yes she does favor some students, based on gender and ethnicity. She portrays herself as a well educated, liberal person, but she grills African-Amer students more than others. This Q&A ostensibily teaches you to be prepared to think on your feet, but doesn't contribute to speaking well. This is also bcse she loves to debate, even if she is wrong!
Her speeches are easy... but who the hell gives written midterms and finals that are worth more than one of the main speeches.
very nice. I got an A and one test was open book. She is good at helping you feel more confident if you are nervous but she holds the line on everyone the same.
Hi Mrs. Crossman! You are the best! Go Diana.
U will like da class cuz there r people in it who can't understand simple assignments-soo u wil be able to do well by comparison.
Very fun class. She makes it fun to be in front of the class, not alot of pressure. There is xtra credit. The class is supportive and everyone cheers you on.
Diana is an awesome teacher. She makes the class fun and iinteresting. I saw people drop but they were the very ones who tried to turn her class into their own therapy sessions, and were also the ones with the worst communication skills. One girl said "like" every other word, and she dropped. Of all people, she should have stayed until the end!
This is a beginning oral interpretation class. If you are a beginner, you will no doubt gain confidence and skills. If you are experienced, this class may be a bit remedial for you. The environment of the class is very supportive and encouraging.
easy B professor!
She is an okay teacher. I don't suggest that you miss any of the performances because you will miss a lot of points. Beginning Speech Interpretation, the tests are open book but very hard and tricky, but she will give you a lot of opportunities for extra credit and says that many questions from the mid-term repeat in the final...
shes a cool teacher! all u do is do performances! but if u miss a day , well u get an f n u cant make it up!
DA best teacher i ever had in my life. speech 8 was super fun and easy , and i had fun talkin to all da ppl in the class, but dont b absent on the day u perform cuz youll get an automatic "F' yup dats prolly da only flaw! yeeeeeeeeeeeee! me i stutter a lot too, but dis class really helped me boost mah confidence n mah speech! chea!
Great teacher, insightful, very helpful. Love the class. She's a fair grader, tests multiple choice. Better than the rest.
You have have to take speech, then you have to take this teacher.. She wants everyone to pass.
This teacher seems really nice in the beginning but towards the end of the semester she becomes evil! she is SNOBBY! If you really want to pass the class you can... she will make fun of students, and she favors students also!just do all the major speeches and you will be fine.
Ms. Crossman is great...interesting lectures, simple, but insightful assignments and she's funny, too, which is always a plus. Loved her class, I actually learned stuff that I'll be able to use in everyday life. Fun. Take her class.
Ms. Crossman makes the class fun and I got much better in my delivery with her than I did in my speech 1 class. Tests are fair, most is on performance and you get alot of feedback. Best for delivery.
.After listening to a speech Diana Crossman gave at Marsee auditorium on relationships and "conflict resolution through abundance thinking" I enrolled in her Speech 12 interpersonal communication class with the highest possible expectations. Speech 12 was great! And enrolling in Diana's class turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made at
Diana is AMAZING! I have taken Speech 1,5,8, and 12 and Diana is the best teacher I have ever had. She gives tough love, so if she seems hard on you it is only because she believes you have potential. She wants everyone to pass and truly cares, which is hard to find at El Camino! If you take Diana you will not regret it!
THIS WOMAN WILL INTIMIDATE YOU THE FIRST CLASS BUT AFTERWARDS SHE BECOMES COOL. IF YOU HATE TO SPEAK IN FRONT OF A CROWD WELL SHE MAKES YOU DO IT. READ THE TEXT, TAKE VERY GOOD NOTES(I MEAN VERY GOOD NOTES)AND YOU'LL BE FINE. SHE TENDS TO FAVOR PEOPLE IN THE CLASS AND WILL MAKE IT NOTICABLE IF SHE DOESN'T LIKE YOU. PARTICIPATE, SHE DIGS THAT
Excellent interpersonal class. She got everyone to talk and still got alot of information out to us. I really look forward to going to each class.
this class is mostly performance based and she grades fairly. my only complaints are the 2 tests she gives on book material when she hasn't given one lecture- but other than that this class is fun and an easy a.
GOOD TEACHER FUN
She is "it" in interpersonal. Loved the class, loved the discussions and it even sort of changed my life.
Great professor. She's really nice and helpful. Grades fairly. This class is mostly performances. I was scared to death at first but she is so supportive. With her helpful attitude I was confident by the end of the semester. I highly reccomend this professor.
she is cool, just bring a voice recording device. she speaks really quickly and does not pause for a student to catch up. For example, she would give us a definition, and the example at the same time.
She's a really great professor, and this class will help you in aspects of your life. When taking notes you ahve to know how to synthesize becasue her lectures contain a lot of information. Overall, I highly recommend this class, especailly those in the honors section.
First off, this class should be a requirement for life. Diana really knows her stuff and is extremely passionate about what she teaches. She has favorites, which is rather obnoxious...but tolerable. If you show up and take good notes then you wont need the book. She does talk quickly, but it's manageable. Her study guides are very helpful.
I love Diana...what else do you want really? She makes it so applicable to life, you have to take this class. She even says, if you participate you'll be a favorite...and big bonus, it will change your life. Thank you Diana.
Class discussions encouraged. But I got tired of hearing the same four or so students. Wish others encouraged to talk. Class needs more practical advice instead of so much theory. Some popular books referenced do not deserve a place in an academic setting. Didn?t like moving the desks in a circle and wish for a break instead of leaving early.
Possibility one of the most brilliant people on the planet.
everyone should be required to take diana's class! i had no idea what speech 12 was about but i ended up learning a lot and actually USED this stuff outside of class. the class is really fair, though she talks kind of fast so sometimes it's hard to take notes. study the book and your notes and you'll do fine. do-able A/B
took interpersonal speech in winter with her. she's really FUN and her class isnt boring at all :) participation in class is really important.
Her class was fun and i did learn stuff i can use outside the classroom. For the notes she talks really fast and she desn't repeat anything. and for the test she shoots at you everything that's going to be on the exam a class prior to that. She nevers writes on the board she just talks. She's not THAT bad just good luck if you take her.
Diana rocks!! We had to do a presentation in the beginning of the semester. I actually cried in one of them. I guess I really got in touch with my emotions. lol. As far as the class, you really need to take good notes, read the book, and pay attention! she wants students to grasp the information down until we understand! took honors. no regrets!!!
I dont know if it's just me but I thought her tests were super-duper hard! Her lectures werent enough to study from since the tests had really tricky questions from the book. You have to really understand the material in order to get a good grade. Other than that, fun, interesting class and I liked how we didnt have much presentations :)
I had no idea what Interpersonal Communication entailed when I signed up for the class, but I'm so glad that I took it. It really should be required because learning to communicate properly with others is SO important at work and in relationships. Try not to miss classes or you'll get behind. Tests aren't too hard at all, but read the text!
Really loved her enthusiasm and sincerity for the subject, rare in profs. She absolutely convinces you about the need for social connection and intimate relationships. Take it.
She is very arrogant. If ur speech contadicts what her ideas or beliefs are she will let u know on the spot. She enjoys to debate more so than teaching. Once u get to know her she comes across as a rich & obnoxious u know what. The class is really just learning to perform & getting rid of stage fright.
i got an A, with some extra credit, and i went to class. if you are not prepared she finds out and we had some of those in our class-some speeches were pretty bad. i liked the class, she's good and i got so much better i'm taking another with mr. crossman.
She talks a lot, rarely writes on the board, never gives handouts, and has hard tests on material that isn't all in the book. You'll do better if you are a male (especially African American). She is elitist and opinionated. I learned a lot from the book, but wish I had taken a different teacher.
she is too hard for a summer class, I had to dropped it.
Really great in Comm 12--I learned so much and I am probably now going to be a major in Comm. But, you have to go to class and be awake.
She was great for comm 1! Very encouraging, funny and a reasonable grader, not necessarily easy but not hard. I really recommend her, I felt like she cared about all of us, wanted us to speak better and I will be taking other comm classes.............
I took her for interpersonal communications and I am glad I did. She uses a lot of examples so that you understand the material. Her tests taken straight from the notes in class but its a a good idea to read the book to better understand. Dont be afraid to speak in class, she likes it. Overall she has a pleasant personality and is a great teacher.
I really enjoyed her class. We rarely used the textbook. Just take good notes and make sure you do your outline the way she explained it. Simple as that. Make sure you understand your topic clearly, she WILL ask questions after your speech in front of the entire class.
There are VERY few teachers that have her common sense and way of teaching- she changed the way I see everything and now I am thinking about being a comm major. Every day in class I got something so useful . Tests not totally easy but then I found I wanted to actually study. Best class in Comm department.
she's a really good teacher , most of the the time she talks a lot but is on a rush most of time
Don't miss a Speech and you will do fine
You sign a contract at the begining of the semester. All the work you need to do for the desired grade is on the sylibus. Do the work, show up, take notes and you should be fine. She's taught for so long that she knows what is required to help you guys pass.
Loved this course and changed my major to communication. I will take her again.
Professor Crossman is great! She loves interacting with her students and this class was so much fun!
Really loved her class! Our class felt like one big family after taking it. It was the first class at El Co that I was actually sad when it ended. Her class is mainly lectures, and to study I just went over the book and my notes as review. Her grading scale allows more room to get A's on your work. The book review at the end was my favorite part!
If you're not up for lectures (which is mainly trying to catch up with her fast talking and at the same time scribbling everything down for notes) all throughout the semester, then do not take her. It takes effort and determination to get an A in her class.
Interpersonal Communication was one of the most interesting classes I've ever taken! I was actually excited about the information as it pertains so closely to your own life. Actually study for the tests and KEEP UP with all assignments and you should be just fine.
One the worst teachers I've ever had. I feel like she was bias and very opinionated. She passed many students in the class who didn't do anything the whole time. I went to every class and also did every speech. Final was pretty hard and didn't really give a heads up on what was going to be on the test. Would never take her again. Joseph Evans Her
Professor Crossman seemed a bit overwhelmed with teaching. Seems like shes over it and doesn't put in a lot of effort into her class. While in class she lectures a lot and actually pretty interesting. I noticed she tries to make it an easy pass which is beneficial for us students. Take her if you just want to pass this class and get over with COMS.
Public Speaking isn't the best class in the world. She does not give much time for speeches. Not nearly enough time to prep as needed. However, I think that her grading is very fair. As long as you get up, try hard, and do what you can, you will pass the class.
Diana is quick-witted, sarcastic yet funny, and intelligent in all things communication. PARTICIPATE as it may be the extra push from a borderline B to an A. She's extremely transparent, which may make some wary of her. Pay attention in class & take good notes, you'll be fine. She's also a fair grader and makes study guides exactly like the tests
Her lectures are clear. Take notes and listen. She can be helpful sometimes but it's better not to ask her questions. She'll advise you to ask three other students before you go to her. She gives you what will be on the test which is nice of her, so be sure to study cause the tests are sometimes tricky. Practice your speeches.
She seems standoffish, but she's really funny and nice. She's like a cool mom. The lectures aren't boring. You'll do great as long as you take good notes.
The grading policy is unclear and terrible in this class. She only grades the projects if you are receiving 32/40 on all three tests. If you are not, she will not count them towards your grade. She never takes attendance, so there is no point of going to class because she only remembers a few people's names & her lectures are unorganized.
shes amazing! she makes the class do a lot of fun group stuff in the beginning to bond. her lectures go fast so get someone's # so u can get help if needed, but theyre interesting and shes really funny. dont save the journals until the last week. you need to study to do well on tests. couldve got an A if I tried a little harder. overall great :)
Diana Crossman is a great professor. You have to be ready to really practice speeches and embarrass yourself. Do not expect to be handed an A on a silver platter, but if you give your fullest effort she will see that, trust me. If she tells you the textbook is optional, get it anyways.
Taught amazing lessons on life
Diana is my favorite Com teacher. Took her twice. Both classes led me to change my major to Communication. Super interesting classes.
She is amazing. Truly wants to help people at all skill levels. Basically gives you the answers for midterm and final, so don't worry about them. You will perform about 9 times and she will strive to improve your skills. She did a wonderful job with everyone and I can't wait to take her again. It was a joy to be in her class and it was so much fun.
Diana Crossman is a fair teacher. She can be disrespectful sometimes. She give good feedback . She comes to class but never take attendance. She mispronounced your name and she will not care about calling it right. She favors some people she likes in the class. She doesn't give equal opportunity for extra credit. Very opinionated but inspiring.
I did not enjoy this class. The tests are largely based lectures, but it is hard to differentiate between her just talking to us conversationally, and important info. She definitely seemed to stereotype many people (largely women) which bothered me, because her assumptions were not fact based, nor cited. Nice person; not the best coms professor.
Diana seems approachable at first and I thought it was going to be a great class but I found out quickly that she is rigid and unfeeling. She clearly favors certain students and responds to comments that she doesn't agree with with distain. The material is really interesting and I enjoyed reading the textbook. I just wish she had been nicer.
Grading is very fair. If you present you'll most likely get a passing score. The information for the tests is sprinkled into performance feedback. She seems very traditional, if she disagrees with you, beware. Attendance not mandatory, she doesn't take attendance, BUT be there to present! Don't waste your money on the textbook.
I took Professor Crossman for three Comm courses and I enjoyed each one. She is very straight forward on what she expects from the class, you will stand up and present regularly for public speaking(100) and oral interp(250) courses not as much for interpersonal(130). She goes with the flow of the class and gives good feedback of her experiences.
She is the reason I am a Com major now, and she talked to me a couple times about where to transfer. I felt like she cared about me. You do need to take notes in the class, but she will also help you get into a group to study with and that helped me. Very interesting class! Wish I could take again.
The most fun class- You speak ALOT. Super friendly class and Ms Crissman is very supportive. Lots of extra credit, tests easy., you will conquer any fear of speaking.
She seemed easy at first, but the class is only lectures and tests. She is not very nice about grading and very rude. Has no poker face what-so-ever when listening to your speech and that can be very discouraging. She also said that you would not pass her class if you did not buy and ready the book. That turned out to be a lie, you do just fine.
No text. Ted talks, watch 10 and tested on them. Easy enough for me, getting an A no problem. Dont miss speeches! Took her again for other Com class.
I loved this course and got so much out of it. 2nd course with Crossman. This might be best course I took at ECC. You must speak in class. You get to buy the older book so its cheap. I am a Communication major, she helped me with transfer.
Shes extremely rude, there are clearly favorites in her class. She was extremely rude to some non native English speakers. She lectures with no PowerPoints so take good notes. She doesnt have a poker face when you talk and makes you feel judged. Tests are poorly worded, final was hard.
D Crossman is harder than her husband but her style is interesting. Every class you sit in a circle and she verbally delivers the lecture (no ppt). Don't be absent on speaking days... no makeups, but you can come in tardy. Tests unfairly worded to be ambiguous, but are curved. Uses the grade contract: Do a list of assignments for grade you want.
I finally made it through public speaking after dropping twice before. Ms Crossman makes it interesting and you never feel like you are being compared to others or overly criticized-its just the right feedback! And I got an A! Enjoyed it alot!
Professor Crossman is a great teacher. She really tries to make sure that everyone is improving and never pulls your leg. She's passionate about what she does and inspires others. Homework depends on how much you practice. The textbook is advised, but not required. A quick study session with Google searches will be more than enough.
Reallly helpful class, loved the Ted Talks, no text. She is super straightforward, no problem getting an A, just listen. Also I dropped out of 2 other EC classes before sticking thru this one.
Rude, sarcastic, disrespectful with foreign students, don't use power point (only read papers), make fun of you if she doesn't agree with your opinion. have no idea why she is so well respected at ElCo, must be for her Resume because she has NO SOCIAL SKILLS IN CLASS, not ethic at all.
Diana Crossman is a great teacher. She was very clear with what to expect out of the class. She gave tough but fair feedback and I saw lots of improvement from everyone as the semester went on. The key to pass is just practice, practice and more practice
Thought Id hate public speaking but this class was awesome. You speak in groups, reduces nervousness, but you speak alot. Text is online, one test and open notes. Great prof.
Took her class over the winter, it helped a lot with my presentation skills. She was very clear with everything required and always gave great feedback on what you could improve or work on, the presentations were done in front of small groups which made it less frightening, I definitely recommend taking her class if you get the chance!!!!
Diana seems friendly at first but her policies are arbitrary. She has favorites and that did not make me want to participate. Her lectures are alright but her tests are hard and I didn't feel prepared even though I studied. I went to her office (3 times because she wasn't there the first 2) but she didn't offer me any real help, only to study.
Diana is cool, funny,&her lectures aren't boring. you NEED to take DETAILED notes, you can use them on 2/3 exams. not a boring subject, you personally relate to the course as you learn it. the class is just taking notes from lecture, but shouldnt skip bc classmates might not have detailed notes&thats the key to this class. very clear grading
I'm not a public speaker, not easy for me, but I received an A. You will speak in groups alot, and you get alot of group feedback, but everyone has fun and gets to know each other. I really improved. Low pressure. Online textbook. Crossman was very encouraging.
Diana is all right. She is opinionated and likes people who agree with her so I didnt feel like I wanted to participate. Her policies are also unclear. Sometimes she is flexible but other times not. At the end of the semester she was pretty harsh. But she knows her subject.
Diana is a very chill and easy if you show up for class and actually take notes, shes very knowledgeable on the subject and was overall one of my favorite professors.
Minimal workload, just show up and do your best on all the small speeches throughout the year and you'll be fine! As long as you're trying, she will see that and you'll get a good grade. very sweet and helpful!
This woman helped me step out of my shell as a student and a speaker. Sadly, I couldn't finish her course due to a lethal infection. From the lectures I did attend, she pushed students past their boundaries, and I thrived off the atmosphere. Because of her, I presented at an honors conference at UCI. I'm more than satisfied with what she taught.
Prof Crossman makes public speaking the easiest thing, and tries her best to make it as anxiety-free as possible. Speeches are done in groups during the semester, and your last two speeches are done in front of her (one in front of the class and the final in a group). The textbook is online, and she does make you attend speaking events on campus.
The only reason why attendance doesn't matter is because she deosn't do zoom sessions. When we were in class before COVID she made attendance very mandatory. She's easy to reach by email and responds quickly. Easy quick assignments. There are a few recorded projects but they're not too hard
First thing she said first day of class "I'm a very empathetic person, probably the most empathetic person I know" then a few minutes later she said "don't be late and don't be absent. I don't care if you're the driver in your family or usually take a sick family member to the hospital. Tell them no and show up to class" I wish I was joking.
Diana was honestly the best professor I had, she taught the subject well and also was very understanding when it came to things. She is super cool and fun. Totally recommend, although i could see why people would say she is hard!
Crossman is a good professor overall especially in the field of communications & public speaking. She is very lenient with grading & ur communications 100 class AKA public speaking. Do ur best in speaking verbally out loud. Easy A if U try ur best in this class. She also motivates her students to do their best in public speaking. Small groups BTW.
I took her over the summer during COVID-19 and it was a breeze. Write your speeches according to her guidelines and record/turn them in on time and you should be fine. She will give you feedback as well if you did something wrong so definitely take her if possible!
I was so scared of speaking, but Crossman is really cool, gives a lot of comments so you know what to do next time-and just do that. I also emailed her a few times and she responded right away. She really knows how to teach this class, and I will take her again.
Loved the class-getting an A-not hard at all if you actually read the text. She answers you back right away, very helpful and caress about you!
I have taken Professor Crossman's class this past Spring 2021 and she is such an amazing professor. I feel that I have definitely become a better oral speaker because of this class and she is a really helpful and knowledgeabl professor. Definitel take this class if you want to become a better speaker and challenge yourself in different types of lit
The professor was always very encouraging. She responds to emails very quickly and always does her best to help her students. As long as you practice and read the modules you will be able to pass the class. She always gives feedback and enough time to do an assignment.
Im currently in Crossman's COMM250 class and I love it. Her assignments are easy to understand and instructions are very clear. it's hard to fail her class. She's very kind and understanding as well, I would definitely take her class again!!
I recently took this class and I passed it. I took it online and she made it easy and understood that everyones situation during this time. You do a couple speeches and discussions not hard at all. Easy class I would most definitely take again.
Easy A in Coms 100 public speaking, 4 main speeches, some reading in book and some short papers, and some ted talks. I thought this would be so hard, I've dropped public speaking before, but surprise! I did what the assignments said and got an A. You do need to turn your stuff in on time, she will email you back fast.
Inconsistent with assignments and due dates. Doesnt provide online lectures or accept late assignments (even when she only gives 2-3 days to complete, and again never regularly) also in her words doesnt have extra credit.
Crossman gives specific feedback and really wants people to improve. If you want to speak better she is the one. Not that difficult.
she is very difficult I would never recc her because of a stupid binder that she wants her class to buy. She will dock you points & give you an F if you do not bring this binder. she doesn't give common respect to her students. only take this class out of complete desperation.
due to covid this teacher is not sensitive to any real life situations. She is stern on her students and although I loved the class I did not like the lack of compassion during these hard times. Could do a better job at being flexible. Being sick having family sick, people dying all around I was disappointed how she handled most situations.
I didnt even last I dropped this class in a heartbeat. She kept posting assignments unexpectedly having 1-2 days before the due date so you dont know what has to be done for the week. It was a guessing game it gave me a lot of anxiety and it was hard to keep up with my job & figuring out when I could do the hw assignments.
I know I improved, and at first I was afraid of speaking. The template for giving the speeches is clear, you repeat it, so you will get it down. Everytime I emailed her she responded right away. Writing assignments brief but you have to follow guidelines. I had an interview at end of semester and got the job, it was the confidence.
Diana Crossman has 0 common sense as to how to communicate with her students despite being a communications professor, and I advise those that have things going on outside of school to not take it. Her assignments are easy, but she has 0 sympathy for people no matter how grand your circumstances are. She is a terrible professor, but easy to pass.
Textbook is optional. Crossman gives very good feedback and expects it to be applied in future assignments. Most of the homework was recordings cause of obvious reasons I enjoyed my time with her and as long as you read the instructions this class should be a breeze for you.
In all honesty this class was easy and her assignments are very clear. she paces herself with the work. the thing that got me is that she has zero compassion. I was in the ER and she didn't let me make up a paper and she said and I quote" i would need to let everyone fo it" this left a very bad taste in my mouth. if life happens she doesn't care.
I enjoyed the group style of speaking-we all made so much progress. She is very supportive, and intent on you improving. I will be back.
once you tlk to the people in the class it becomes easy
Crossman taught me so much-I didn't want to take a Coms class but I will say I like clear guidelines. I can speak now with some confidence. I know there is at least one teacher my friend took that had zero standards, but he said he learned nothing. She gets back to you right away with all emails.
Great on campus class. And she is super clear so show up, do speeches get an A. She always rmails back.
Rude and does not comply with ADA, she never acknowledged the SRC emails that was sent to her. Awful experience.
Amazing professor. She gives excellent feedback which helped improve my speech a lot. Assignments are simple; watch a TED Talk and answer the questions about it. The speeches are mainly informative/argumentative speeches and she does watch them and grade them accordingly! You will have to do research and provide reliable sources. EASY A!
she was honestly just rude to me when I got something wrong with the recordings. If I had recorded a speech incorrectly the way that she approached me about those mistakes was really rude and had no thought put into if that kind of approach would benefit me learning. She pretty much had told me just to drop her class so I did.
Prof. Crossman literally fixed my problem with procrastination. She does not accept any late work, and if you want to get an A, you need to start turning in stuff 1-3 days before the deadline. She has no problem giving you the A if she sees you've been working hard (and smart). She also gets back to you pretty quickly if you try contacting her.
Great and fast feedback. Coaches you how to get better. Helps with ideas. Friendly. I truly improved.
The course is okay, just incredibly disorganized. Get ready to read through walls of text (in different links) repeating the same information to meet baseline expectations. Also, the dates on the syllabus aren't always accurate. Easy grader, good material.
AWFUL! I did not enjoy taking Prof Crossman at all. She demands you have a specific binder, if you do not have this binder she will deduct points. And extremely rude when I had trouble finding the binder. She writes unprofessionally with slang and abbreviations as if we were friends. Ha nope!
If you need to take a Communications class for a requirement, please go somewhere else! Her class is just reading & answering questions on the lectures but if something goes wrong through canvas she says oh sorry too bad & gives you a zero. Not a good communicator with feedback even though she is a communications professor!
Wow! There were 4 videos in a semester and 4-5 discussions. She will never give you full credit for a video. She has a comment for every discussion and presentation (which is good) but she contradicts herself many times if you follow her directions as the prompt says she comments "You don't do this" "Why did you do that?" BECAUSE YOU TOLD ME TO!!!
Difficult.
She would give directions for an assignment, and I would listen to the directions and complete the assignment. Then she gives me a 0/3 on it and makes a one sentence comment like "how did you complete this?" without any further elaboration. Almost as if she is finding a reason to give me a 0.
Engaging professor who provides excellent feedback to help improve speaking skills. Assignments are straightforward and graded fairly. unstuck ai is a great resource for speech prep alongside the course materials.
IN PERSON:Amazing professor. She grades (mostly) by participation and as long as you show up everyday youll be fine. Grades easier for in person. Very nice and provides great feedback. Can at times be conterversial, and the class is mostly split into little group speeches. Does require some work outside of class and engagement. Take in person
she's very rude
I've always dreaded public speaking but professor Crossman changed my perspective. She made the class very engaging and enjoyable. Clear grading criteria and always provides feedback.
