This course is notoriously difficult at UNM. Most people do no pass it the first time. Don't worry, halfway through the semester you can take a 'balloon' class if you don't think you can pass. However, Diana is a very good professor and has clear and precise lectures to explain the material. She offers a ton of extra credit, so do all of it!
She is a fairly good teacher but she does have a few shortcomings. She moves very slowly through material in-class, which leads to test questions that have not been addressed. She also is a very quiet person, so if you are in her class try to sit upfront. She does show a big willingness to help though, office hours encouraged.
Diana is an amazing teacher. If you do the work and homework it will help you. She gives extra credit on assignments and is always willing to work with you. I would suggest taking notes straight from the book with every reading quiz (for reference) and then just review in class. I wish she taught Gen Chem 2. Amazing teacher!
Diana is an amazing teacher. She strives in helping her students pass and I actually enjoy going to lecture. You do have to keep up with homework and study for the tests thoroughly, but she has office hours and review sessions. She does drop your lowest score and has tons of extra credit. I wish she taught 122. Amazing instructor.
This is the professor you need to take!!! She along with the TAPLFs are there for you!
Diana is such a wonderful professor. She is very eager to see her students succeed- she curves test grades, gives extra credit on tests and homework, and hosts review sessions at which she is present. The class is challenging material-wise, but she is incredibly fair in grading and willing to help.
An amazing lecturer! Goes through things super clear and has lots of chances to gain extra credit! Eager to help if needed, always responds promptly to emails and attends review sessionsoffice hours. The only thing is she give you points for clickers questions, so can't always ditch. Wish she taught Chem122!
She would never explicitly explain any material, assuming you read the book. Even if you did read the book it was still hard to understand material. She never went into depth on any subjects and would skim everything. Tests weren't that difficult but if you don't know what you're doing then there's a problem.
enjoyed her class
Overall the class is a lot of extra work, but it's just what's required on mastering chemistry. Her lectures are confusing probably half the time, but the PLFs are usually helpful, and there's lots of opportunities for extra credit. If you have some chemistry knowledge and make sure you understand everything, the class isn't too hard.
She is amazing! I loved her. She expects you to work on your own and come to lecture prepared. She is always available to help and the PLFs are great. She is so sweet and caring. She is not hard, but will not hand out grades. You have to work for them. I am so glad she is teaching 122.
This is chemistry, and she is overall good, but its still chemistry. She is helpful and always wants you to get it, but the exams are a bit tough, far different from the homework. Lectures are ok, she doesn't get too much in depth into the topics leaving you to read which helps a lot in this class.
To me, her lectures were pretty pointless. What's supposed to be covered in the lectures is assigned as pre-class work so basically you should already have learned what she goes over in class the night before. I never went to class, but kept up with the reading quizzes and aleks and I got an A.
She is awesome. She made it significantly easy for me to understand Chemistry. I learned so much from her lectures that I only opened the book about three times. Pay attention to her lectures and you'll do well.
Diana is a mediocre instructor. Her lectures don't help with the exams. You really need to study on your own. GO TO MOCK EXAMS!!!!
She gives a lot of homework but if you do everything she asks and read the chapters then you'll be good. Mock exams help a lot, if you can don't get too far behind because it's a lot of work to catch up.
Honestly, I was a bit skeptical to take this class given her rating, but I am SO GLAD I DID! I am a Chemistry minor & it's just a hard subject. You WILL SUCCEED in this class, but you have to develop solid study skills from chapter 1! Don't fall behind because it is literally impossible to catch up! Gives extra credit!!! Note card allowed on test.
She's pretty awesome. She does Mock Exams at 2 or 3 different times before every exam and mock exams help a ton. Communicates with the class with opportunities for extra credit and study sessions on a regular basis. Best Chem instructor I've had. 9/10 would take again
She assigns a lot of homework, but it is strait forward and focuses on the things you need to know. She assigns group work on worksheets, which is pretty helpful, just get with a good study group. She also is open to questions, and goes over most important parts of the worksheets in class. Her mock exams are very helpful! Gives extra credit, fair
Dr. Habel Rodriguez is definitely an amazing professor. She genuinely cares for her students, and will do anything for them to get good grade on the exams, even stay on campus to 10pm to provide extra help. Generous on curves and extra credits, with desire for students to actually learn the material. Mock exams will guarantee you an A.
If you take 121 with her, you must take 122. She is so helpful and does everything she can to help you. Build a relationship with her because she will really help you out if she knows you. She is great. Gives extra credit, does clickers, ALEKS (kills your soul), group wrk sheets (hard but worth it), mock exams. Tests were like wrks sheets and mock
Her accent sucks, she explains a topic but to far to where it does not make since. With the quiz previous to class and the reading to class, there is not much to learn from her lecture besides going to get clicker points and work on the worksheet.
Dr. Habel-Rodriguez is passionate in what she teaches. A LOT of personal effort must be put into this course in order to receive a good grade, but Dr. Habel-Rodriguez offers countless opportunities for you to learn the material including worksheets, study sessions, office hours, etc. offered by her and the TA's. Mock exams help a lot.
She is hard to follow along to. I struggled with this class. Every time I would email her, she didn't respond. There were many worksheets and a ton of aleks, none of which helped in the class. Would not recommend.
I took her class in the CTLB so the setting was small groups of 3 during the lectures, and she regularly gave us worksheets to deepen our understanding. I really liked this teaching style because it was much more hands-on, and she was very available to help. The material was hard, but her accessibility was a huge help.
Diana is very, very helpful. She genuinely wants students to succeed and this shows through her multiple office hours, uploaded lecture slides& notes, mock exams, and ample extra credit opportunities. Expect to read and do the homework in addition to listening to her lectures in order to succeed. I'm a bit shocked why she doesn't have a 4+ rating.
Super helpful and nice, let's you call her be her first name which is always cool.
This class might as well have been online. Every class her lecture came straight out of the book (which you had to read the night before to do the reading quiz).
This class has more extra credit opportunities than all of my years in college combined. She really wants everyone to pass. Diana's practice test short answer questions are almost exactly what you will see on the test. Lectures are boring but you are sat with a group. Get ready to a ridiculous amount of Aleks work, but thats department policy.
Diana is an excellent teacher. Although the setting itself was not conducive to learning, she was still very clear and very good at explaining all of the concepts. I found her class worksheets to be tremendously helpful. Her tests are killer but if you study hard, you'll ace them. She gives plenty of EC too!
Solid prof. lots of work and hard class, but once you get into it you can do well. Keeping up on reading is a lifesaver. Even in a huge lecture she recognized me outside of class without ever talking to me before hand, she really notices people.
She is a pretty good professor. Her lectures aren't always clear but she is willing to help you understand the material in office hours. The tests are fairly difficult but fair. Do the reading.
Diana is the best chem teacher I've had. I've struggled enormously with chem in the past, but did great with her. You need to do hw and readings before class, but as long as you do that and take notes you'll be fine. Her lectures are thorough and well-structured. She will present every concept in class, and make it clear what her expectations are.
She was horrible ive never has such a horrible professor. Her class took my confidence away from me and in result of it, I got my first C in my life. Her lectures were okay until you took the exam and it was completely different. The reading is insane and the tests are brutal. DONT TAKE HER, SHE IS HORRIBLE. Save yourself.
She doesn't hand out grades, but it's not hard to do well if you are willing to put in the work. The book is a necessity and it is important that you keep up with the reading. Sometimes the lectures could be a little challenging to follow, but she was always willing to answer questions. Very sweet and understanding. I took her for 121 and 122.
She's super nice and good at teaching the material for this course. It will be tough no matter who you take, but she will gladly clarify any questions you have in or out of class. There will be ALEKS so stay on top of that. She offers extra credit for each exam but you MUST study for them. She wants you to pass so don't be afraid to ask for help!
Even though I received a bad grade in this class, she is an absolutely amazing teacher. She is strict, but you won't regret taking her, she is always willing to help. I am retaking a grade replacement for this class but that was my fault, not hers. You need to put in constant effort in this class, but it will pay off
Diana is super nice and approachable. This class is difficult in general so be prepared to study and work hard. Make sure to do as well as you can on clicker questions, in-class worksheets, and reading quizzes because right now those are carrying my grade. Good luck
Dr. Rodriguez is the best chemistry professor I've had at UNM so far. She's always willing to help her students succeed and her teaching techniques are VERY effective. I had taken this class before and failed, but taking her class made chemistry seem SO EASY. She usually teaches the BAMD kids, but if you can take her class I'd recommend it!
Dr. HB expects you to teach yourself the material at home, and uses class time to do complicated worksheets. She doesn't teach, but instead facilitates peer instruction while flying through the lecture slides. This style of class is not for everybody. I hated it. If you prefer lectures where a prof explains difficult concepts, take someone else.
Highly recommend it for a student that wants to learn the material. You need to work for this grade. Other chem professors may be easier, but none of them teach as well as Diana. Prepare for smartworks, aleks and worksheets. The homework is worth it because as long as you do well, it can help you by adding 2 letter grades worth of points
If you actually want to learn, then i would 10/10 recommend Diana. She is very willing to help her students achieve the grade they want, and is very approachable.
Explains the topics well and gives good review to the tests. Only talked to her after class time but she was nice and very helpful. Does midterm surveys about the workload of the class (worksheets, lectures, readings, aleks) and listened to the class. Didn't use the book but it helps. She has a solid understanding of what she is talking about.
Very cute Germany accent! Tons of extra credit! I ended up total percentage grade of 105.6%! If the exam is designed too hard she will curve lots of points! Also, nearly every portion of the grade will be curved! So don't freak out too early! I never used the textbook, you will get one while paying for Smartwork tho.
Diana is amazing! The class is hard but there is a lot of extra credit opportunities. Go to class because there are worksheets and iclickers
I took Gen Chem 2 with Dr. Habel, and thought that she did a great job. Her lectures are great and she gives you a lot of material to help you understand the subject. She holds mock exams for every test outside of class, and goes over every question if you want. Gave extra credit and made it easy to get an A and learn if you put the work in.
She is very sweet and understanding. I found her mock exams to be very helpful when it came to preparing for exams. She gives extra credit and will curve exams based on if most of the class got a particular question wrong. Make sure to stay on top of your homework and you'll do fine. I ended the semester with a 103%.
her lectures slides are very helpful even though she goes through them fast she really prepares you for the exam but you must study she is better than knottenbelt
Lectures were very helpful.
Dr. Habel-Rodriguez is the best professor I have had so far. Her lectures are great, she gives good feedback and answers all questions. I can't recommend her enough. She is the best.
Super sweet and caring. The workload is to be expected of a chem class but she makes it worth it because of how awesome she is. Best chem teacher at unm
Amazing professor. Take her if you get the chance
PLEASE TAKE HER FOR 121 AND 122 she is so amazing aand her teaching style is too. i sucked at chem and i ended both with 89/88!!!!
Diana is the best chemistry teacher at UNM, better than Sushilla. If you have the chance to take her, do it! She makes chemistry easy to understand and lectures slowly. She ensures to answer all questions fully and is willing to take extra time to help you understand the material.
From what i can tell, the expectation is for her lecture to supplement what the book and the online homework program is teaching. The time spent outside of class figuring out what is being lectured is far greater than she spends meaningfully teaching the material. In essence, she provides vague, confusing guidance while teaching yourself.
Most definitely the best chemistry teacher! She explains things exceptionally well and in various different ways so you understand it perfectly. All around a fantastic instructor. As long as you put effort in the class you should do well. There are also lots of office hours to guarantee your understanding of the topics in class.
First semester I had an awful professor and doubted my own chem skills, but after having Diana this semester, I realize how valuable it is to have a professor who knows how to teach and is willing to help you! Tests are a little difficult but if you pay attention in lecture and do the worksheets then it's no problem. I understand chem again!
I absolutely hated Chem in high school but thoroughly enjoyed taking the class from Dr. Habel-Rodriguez. Everything is very organized and there are no surprises in the class. The tests are fair and as long as you do the HW on time you'll be more than prepared for everything else. Good amount of extra credit was offered and could count on a curve.
Diana is a great lecturer and professor. Her lectures cover almost everything, but reading the online text will absolutely help you do better on exams. Participation is based on clicker questions so do try to not skip classes. She gives extra credit quiz to supplement preparation for the test. The tests are not difficult and some Qs get curved out.
So much extra credit its hard not to get an A, but shes not great at explaining the concepts so if you have to take further chemistry it wont give you a good base
The Chem 121 class tends to be rather crowded, so you definitely have to make an effort to reach out to Prof. Habel-Rodriguez. However, if you make that effort, she is very caring & will talk you through any chemistry concepts you're struggling with. She also provides lots of exam prep material, including numerous practice exams.
I took honors and AP chem in high school and I still learned new things from Diana. Her class is mainly lectures with a worksheet at the end so if you have a good group it's fun. She always wants to answer questions and you can tell she is genuinely excited by chemistry and teaching it as well. She also offers so much extra credit so youll be fine
I absolutely love this Professor. She is a great teacher and her class is a good mix with lecture and a worksheet. I would definitely recommend this class. If you study you will do fine in this class. She also gives tons of extra credit
She is absolutely amazing! She makes chemistry so easy to understand. The class was well structured. It is chemistry so it has its difficulties, but seek out the help you need and you'll be fine. Go to her office hours!! Don't miss class- you don't want to lose points because of iClickers.
She gives really good lectures and is easy to follow along with. She does have a slight accent, if you don't like that beware. She's very nice and will answer any question, she curves tests and gives extra credit but there is ALOT of outside of class work. Chem was really hard for me in HS and she made it really easy to get an A. There is also PLFs
Dr. Habel-Rodriguez is amazing! I would reccomend taking her if possible for both Gen Chem I and II. If you study the worksheets, read the lecture notes, and take a lot of practice tests, you will do fine in this class. If you put in the work, you will get the grade you want. She offers lots of resources to boost your grades. Do all of the EC!
I was well prepared for this class as I took a pre-req that taught me most the stuff. However she said that 30% of the students don't pass. All of the Aleks is due on Saturday and every other day Smartworks is due. While I did good in this class I would recommend finding another teacher.
Lots of work but she offers way more excr than any other gen chem instructor. She's also really fun to listen to, great lectures and neat accent. Very nice person.
This is my second semester with her and she's the goat. There is nobody as passionate and understanding as her. During the pandemic she showed how much she cares and made the material so accessible and understandable. It's a lot of work but truly you're constantly learning and applying and her lectures are so good!!
I am an athlete so I missed a lot of class, she was super understanding and helpful. Is a great professor and makes the lectures and expectations very clear. I would definitely take her class again!
I took this class in the summer and it was offered online. Diana is a very good instructor but the amount of work in this class is overwhelming. Also, she gives a lot of extra credit, which makes this class pretty easy to pass. Her exams are decent, and reflective of the material that she covers. She curves, gives extra credit on ALEKS, Smartwork.
Does even teach. Since classes are online, her class is asynchronous so she doesnt even lecture. All she does is assign tons of reading and homework, and gives you quizzes after, and expects you to understand everything. Every other teacher understands that were adjusting, but she doesnt. She also assigns a bunch of assignments without telling u
I've never liked Chem till I took this course. She was a great professor and I actually knew what I was doing. The lectures were heavy but informative and were always posted online. She does clicker quizzes during lecture so they are easy if you pay attention. Exams were a little tough but that Chem for you! I would take her course again!
Exams aren't terrible but they are very tough even if you study for it, she only provides lecture videos aside from office hours, however, they aren't the best. There are weekly Aleks objectives due Sunday at midnight, Worksheets, pre-class readings, clicker quizzes, and weekly quizzes. Quizzes are a little tough, but not horrible.
Easy class, but the work outside class is necessary to pass. Tests are pretty easy if you actually spent time studying. There's in-class quizzes and worksheets, so pick your group wisely. Dr. Diana is cool and gives good lectures, plus her TA's help alot, but don't expect real one-on-one attention. Overall it was easy, just put in actual effort.
Despite everything being asynchronous, she was able to help keep me on track and make me feel like I was part of her class. There is a lot of work(Reading questions, clickers, worksheets, aleks) but I found the regular due dates made it easy to stay on track and I understood the material thoroughly. She is available and considers student feedback.
As long as you keep up with the work you'll pass. . However, doesn't teach the material, so your essentially teaching yourself. The reason I am giving her a low rating is bc she won't work w/ you to figure out a game plan if your struggling and not passing. Also her camera wasn't on when we met. Also during covid-19 times. Lots of busy work.
Diana is very organized and let's you know what is due and expected from the get go. Although there is a lot of work (group work, clickers, ALEKS), it's what I expect from a STEM class. I love the way she teaches, and her lecture videos usually go over what's going to be on the test.
Diana is great, but for some reason she decided to switch to Ezra Depperman's lecture videos a few weeks after the semester started and his lecture videos are HORRIBLE!! Because of this, I would not recommend taking this course, but if she does just her lecture videos then definitely take it because she is a good teacher. Exams 45% of your grade.
I love Professor Rodriguez and I am taking Chem 1225 with her next semester! She's a great lecturer and explains things well. There's a lot of work, but I didn't mind bc I felt like it drove home the concepts and helped me understand. She also offers SO MUCH extra credit--do it! This class will be a great foundation as I continue on in chemistry.
I take Chem1215 with her and I will take Chem1225 with her as well. Dr Diana explains things very well, I love her class.
Very caring, gave many zoom meetings to help before tests. A lot of work, but all helpful.
Dr. Rodriguez is a very caring and kind professor, she offers lots of extra credit. her lectures are well thought out and easy to follow for being an online course. Reading is due before class and is not difficult at all. Just show up to lectures and do work on time, its an easy A from there.
She is the best professor if you do not care about your future in your chosen field. Super easy A, barely had to do anything to get a good grade. Failed my next chem class because I was not prepared but atleast I got an easy grade in this class. Wish she would teach higher level chem courses so I can pass those without any effort.
The exams were tough they were multiple choice and online. All or nothing and worth about 8% per question...1 wrong answer docked you a whole letter grade. she offered plenty of extra credit for reworking your missed problems. awesome TAs that helped by setting up review sessions. You can easily get a A if you put effort into the class.
Chemistry is hard regardless and all the exams were multiple choice. However she is really kind and offers so much extra credit! She is really nice and wants you to do good so as long as you put in effort into learning the material you will be just fine.
Highly recommend! She assigns a lot of hw that can seem a little overwhelming at first but it's not that bad. She offers lots of extra credit, practice exams, and drops your lowest exam for you. Her and the TA's offer many help sessions as well and really want you to do well in the class.
Loved her. Great at teaching and obviously very passionate. I took 3 years of chem with her. Wish she taught organic II.
Had her for 3 years and she was amazing. Most helpful professor I have had and she really cares about her students success in the class and will accommodate to try and help students in any way that she can. She gives extra credit when her class is struggling and will sit with you and walk you through anything and everything you don't understand.
Absolutely love Diana and am taking her again for organic chemistry next semester because I know I have a high chance of succeeding with her as my professor. Responds to emails, cares about the students, gives great understandable lectures breaking down the material and all the TA's and resources she provides makes sure for success.
very good class, there's a lot of work but she explains thigs very well and makes things understandable. ALEKS is the only difficult thing and I would say is harder then the actual class. she also offers test corrections and is very kind and understanding
Very clear and easy to understand. Practice exams are very similar to real exams, easy to know what will be on the tests. Gives a lot of homework, but if you get into a routine it's entirely manageable. Gives extra credit, very friendly. If you listen to her lectures and do ALEKS, you will pass this course even if you struggled in gen chem 1.
I loved her this semester. She explained more difficult topic in class and was pretty forgiving in her grading. She allows some extra credit and some corrections on her tests. You are allowed to work in a group for the clicker questions and the worksheets. The only thing I didn't like was ALEKS but other than that I would take her class again.
My O-chem class was online, there is a lot of videos, readings, assignments, and group assignments, but she offered test corrections, extra credit, and numerous office hours, I would take again.
She is an amazing lecturer. However, in 3 out of 4 exams, the exam average was either a 55 or below. I brought this up to her and she was very defensive. She then locked our grades on Canvas, meaning we could no longer view the exam averages or our overall grade. This seemed a bit sneaky to me. She does offer extra credit though.
Best professor I have had
I loved having Diana, she made chemistry feel a lot less scary. Lots of extra credit, lowest exam dropped. ALEKS homework is frustrating but doable and beneficial. Her lectures are great, and actually reading the assigned reading instead of skipping through helps you to understand the lectures better. Practice exams are very similar to the real one
I took this class online and was nervous about how much I would learn but she has great lectures. There's a good amount of homework like most chem classes but I found most of it was beneficial to learning. She also gives extra credit and lots of study material for exams.
She knows what she's talking about!! A fantastic lecturer. There are some things that might be hard to understand as she has a foreign accent but she's always happy to repeat herself or clarify something. I highly recommend.
Best teacher I've ever had, can't say that enough. As long as you keep up on the lectures/homework, you will be okay. This is a tough class, but you can succeed as long as you put in the effort and pace yourself. She's super nice and helpful in office hours, and offers extra credit toward exams. I highly recommend if you struggle with chemistry.
Great class lectures. She knows what she's talking about and does a good job explaining what is happening in the current chapters. Her exams are a little difficult but she does a good job ensuring that your work is reflected in your final grade. I would definitely take again.
Do not take her for Organic chemistry. She does not teach and expects you to just magically know everything. She does not even create her own lectures and uses other professors lectures. Her practice exams are nothing like the actually exam. DO NOT TAKE HER.
A lot of work. Due dates on 3 or 4 days out of the week, every week. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit and obviously the material is challenging but the tests were fairly simple if you prepare. I'm no genius and I still got an A. (Btw she most definitely does prepare her own lectures)
I absolutely loved taking Diana's class. She's an amazing lecturer and provides lots of extra credit. Participation isn't mandatory but she does use iClickers and has in-class worksheets, which were very similar to exam questions. She is very approachable with questions. Lots of homework but it's VERY helpful if you do it, so do it!!
Damn, chemistry is hard, truly making me wonder if pre-med is worth it. Diana is very chill she gave extensions on ALEKS and was kind. She truly does want every student to succeed class is built up with online reading, collaborative worksheets and some ALEKS. She was very kind and gave good extra credit, her learning team is amazing. Go to SI!
I loved having this professor so much! She has a great sense of humor, and taught me this material better than any other chemistry professor I've had. If given the choice, I'd definitely take a class with her again!
This professor is so great! I've done really badly in this class before, but she explains everything so well! She has clicker quizzes during class to help gauge how well the class knows the material before moving on, and really ensures understanding. Only bad thing is all the ALEKS work. The knowledge checks make you redo topics you already learned
Diana is amazing-- her lectures explain concepts clearly, she posts mock exams, practice questions, and slides, and overall she's a teacher who wants her students to succeed. She knows chemistry is hard, but if you put in the time, you will succeed. I'd rather have an 8 AM with Diana than an 11 AM with someone else. Take her for chem if you can!
Overall a pretty good professor, chemistry is just hard. Her lectures weren't super helpful to me unless I looked over the slides the night before. Lots of homework but it's where you'll learn most, so do it! Just do all the work and you'll be fine. She offers lots of extra credit opportunities. If she were teaching gen chem 2 I'd take it with her!
Diana is the best chemistry teacher ever. You still have to put in the work, but as long as you're consistent with ALEKS and showing up to class, you'll be fine. I hated chemistry before taking this class, but she explained complicated topics in a way that made perfect sense. Take her!
Diana is an incredible professor. As an incoming freshman who had not taken chemistry in a few years, I was nervous, but once I experienced her teaching style I did not worry. Her homework isn't per se hard, but time-consuming. Plus, I find her tests to be fair. But, she offers plenty of opportunities for extra credit, regardless of your grade.
Extremely good chem teacher. She always was so helpful in explaining confusing topics.
Diana is a great professor, her class has so much homework, and it feels as if I'm learning this class on my own. The 50-minute lecture time is not enough at all, the online readings are confusing. The Aleks are 1000x harder than what you're going to see on tests. And you'll be spending all your time on Aleks and will have virtually no life.
Great Professor ! She submits lectures way before class and you can go over them before and follow along in class. The study guides for the exams resemble the actual exams. The class is straightforward which made it easy but time-consuming to get a 103% in her class. Offers a bit extra credit in the exams as well which helps out !
Don't believe all these reviews. This class is mostly SELF TAUGHT.Her lectures for the most part provide nothing because she goes way too fast.If you actually try to learn your grade will reflect depending if you understand.Getting problems wrong on the worksheets/clickers are too detrimental to your grade that you almost have to cheat to get a B-.
I think Diana does a wonderful job at lecturing and explaining concepts. She also cares about her students with office hours times, emails back quickly, and gives extensions. The class and exams were hard but she will set you up for success.
While 50-minute lectures may feel too short for all the concepts being taught, she does a great job trying to explain all these concepts and provides many examples. Her mock exams are not only very helpful, but also function as extra-credit that is applied towards the exam grade. Also offers lots of office hours, either with her or her PLF team.
Dr. Habel-Rodriguez does a great job teaching a difficult subject. While her class is very fast-paced, her class is set up for student success. There are plenty of opportunities for extra credit.
Excellent professor. Lots of extra credit and very helpful mock exams. The final exam is written by the department, not her, so it was tougher. Never miss a lecture, do every single assignment, and study thoroughly and an A/A+ is very doable. If you are stuck with ALEKS, go to office hours. I had ALEKS completely done by Wednesday night every week.
Amazing professor. Very helpful and always willing to answer questions. It is lecture and reading heavy, but it was so helpful in the end.
I loved this professor! She is very understanding of personal situations and is very willing to give extensions on assignments. The content can be challenging, but going to office hours with her and her TA helped me get through it. Always do the reading before class, it makes it a lot easier to follow the lectures.
Professor Habel-Rodriguez teaches a challenging course, but if you stay on top of the lectures and readings, an A is very doable. The mock exams are super helpful, and unstuck study can be a great study tool alongside the textbook.
Very tough class but professor Habel-Rodriguez really wants you to succeed! She provides so many extra resources, makes material on exams very predictable and clear. She knows its a hard class and is very kind and helpful, and her lectures are funny!
This course did have a lot of homework and the weekly ALEKS assignments can take hours. Overall the course moved at a very slow pace and all the concepts were heavily explained so it would be hard not to get an A unless you were not showing up to class.
Great teacher. The class is very well structured, with plenty of extra credit opportunities, and the exams feel fair. In class, she does a good job providing examples and explaining the material in a clear, simple way. She is also genuinely such a sweet and kind person. Overall, 10/10 would recommend.
She is an amazing professor with a very clear teaching style and lectures that are easy to follow. She gives plenty of extra credit if you do all of your homework and show up. I got great grades on her tests, as they are exactly like the mock tests she provides. The best professor to learn chemistry from in my opinion.
Diana is one of the greatest chemistry professors I've ever had so far. Goes over slide examples in a way that you can understand the concept better. Read the textbook before class, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE EXTRA CREDIT, will help your grade a lot. Attend office hours as well! Overall a nice and sweet person.
Absolutely the best professor out there. Explains concepts really good. I heard other students say gen chem 1 is hard but Diana will make it a breeze.
She's a very kind professor, and the lectures are alright. Honestly just read the class textbook thoroughly and you're all set (time consuming but VERY helpful!) to do well on all the in-class worksheets and exams.
Clearly presents the material! Great professor.
Great professor, very lecture heavy (book goes over content briefly). iClickers play a large role, lots of EC opportunities. Would def take chem 2 with her
Great professor! She makes it really easy to understand what is going on and know about the available options for other learning because 50 minutes can be hard to teach everything. She makes it clear what you need to do before class. Some reviews say you need to read the textbook which yes, she says you do and need to do to take the reading quiz.
Worksheets are submitted in groups, so make sure to sit with people who won't gonna slack off. Of the exams she has, she drops the lowest one. I'd say that she's overall a very good teacher and would recommend taking her. Very nice and helpful. Would still visit PLFs and SIs, though, since she can't go too in-depth in only 50 minutes of class time.
Professor Diana is organized in her course; you will know what to expect from the class from the start. As someone who had to retake the course, take advantage of all the small assignments and extra credit she offers throughout the semester, and you can pass. This course can be easy if you commit to it, despite how intimidating chemistry can be!
