Personally I didn't like her
Horribly boring, takes regular attendence, only grades papers; no real work
No Comments
she thinks no one knows anything
I think she is an awesome professor. She incorporated other things in the class besides writing papers. We even had an in-class debate. I learned a lot about history & current events in lecture. I felt like I got my money's work @ the end.
She's kind of naive and thinks we're all idiots, but grades papers pretty easily. She'll give you examples of previous students work. Very kind and a pushover if you can make up good excuses for missing assignments/class.
going to class is useless, but she factors it in to the grade, so you are must go...if you write a crappy paper, she'll like it... if it is good, she will pick it apart... hard to figure out
She doesn't relate material very effectively to subject and topics covered. She isn't clear about expectations or due dates. She tends to say nice things about your papers in person while returning them with many negative comments.
I thought she was a decent teacher. She taught me a few things I didn't know and she grades pretty fair. The class wasn't all about the papers I learned more than just how to write. Seems like a nice lady. I had a problem getting up to come.
She only gave good grades on papers that were what matcher her opinion, if you wrote with your personality showing you got a bad grade. She has favorits and if you were not one she made you feel stupid, she thinks shes better than the students.

Her way or the highway
she is pretty easy and i was able to get A's on the papers pulling them off at the last minute, but I honestly didnt learn a whole lot. SHes not bad, maybe its just the subject manner. But she always looks depressed. She should live a little or something.
She's not bad, but it always seems like the class never writes a good paper. Since that's all you do in ENG 101. She's not bad though. Hopefully you can write well.
easiet paper grader at cmu i got all As and im telling u its not that bad if u cant write then dont go to college
Easy grader, If you write the paper you are guaranteed at least a C every time
She is not a very clear grader. Meeting with her to analyze your papers would help. Her style is hard to understand. Make sure you get to class on time and don't fall asleep. Do and know the readings!

She picks favorites, especially ones that work in the English department. She grades the papers on her opinion. For example, if she agrees with cloning and you write a paper against it, expect a C+, regardless of the quality.
She is pretty easy, seems to want to help students. Grades papers easy, course material seems pretty easy compaired to other 201 teachers.
She is very lethargic walking in the room every morning. If you want more of a chance at the few a's she actually gives, write the paper according to her opinions. She seems to pick favorites and sucking up usually works with her.
Terribly inconsistent. I compared papers with fellow students she has given A's to, and my writing is significanly better, although I am never able to achieve higher than 2.8 out of 4.0. She grades papers based on how similar her opinion matches your's...so listen to what she likes...! or else!
grades hard
I found her to be nice and helpful. She seemed to grade fairly, despite what people say. Also, I don't think she picks favorites, but then again, I did get A's on all my papers, so perhaps I was a favorite? Make sure you go to class everyday, because she takes attendance every once and a while.
She tried to contradict everything I did or said. She knows what she's talking about most of the time. That first paper she tears you apart because she thinks that since we're in college we know what to do for papers. She's weird but pretty easy.
I enjoyed her class. She is so nice and is willing to explain how she wants something done. However, she does seem to be one-sided sometimes. So, if your opinion is not the same as hers you better write a hell of a convincing paper for your point of view.
Weird grader. Have to word things how she wants. She explains deeper about the assignment if you ask, but if you think you're doing good, rethink and make sure she proofreads it. Lectures a lot on things we should have learned in middle school. Try to take a different teacher for this class.
She is a hard grader, but she is nice. You might get better grades with another teacher.
Never take ENG 101 from her. She grades too hard for ENG 101. She gives bogus assignments, relies too much on technology and the computer lab, and you learn nothing new in her class that will ever benefit you.

She grades way too hard, for ENG 101 especially! She always does what the 'board' says she should do..even if that mean assigning 3 papers at the same time! I wouldnt advise taking her class!!
unorganized, didn't seem she liked what she teaches, lots of busy work
she is what the spaniards call el terrible
This professor is a wonderful person but a little unclear as a teacher. She has a tendency to grade according to style rather than content and grammar. In other words if you don't write exactly as she would, your grade will drop, but if you learn how to play the game, you'll do okay.
She makes class fun and what an english class should be. Your papers are on social and political issues which make it very nice if you enjoy writing on those topics instead of other boring topics you usually end up with in an english class,
Wow this woman is an air-head. She doesn't understand any of the themes behind the stories. She speaks very quietly and is impossible to pay attention to. She doesn't put anything creative or original into the class, and overall she just isn't very smart.
This professor is kind of crazy and the class is boring. She HAS to memorize everyone's name by the end of the first week and it's pointless. She has no idea what she's talking about when discussing stories and her main focus is the drama section. Read the stories carefully because you will often have a one question quiz over it.
Very boring! You'll fall asleep. Information learned is somewhat interesting but not useful nor is it presented in a matter that will be easy to understand or listen to. Doesn't grade harsh though. I've gotten As on all her papers.
I really liked the class. Ms. Luhem was helpful and answered any questions I had. I would definitely take her again if I could.
This teacher is probably the best one I've had here at CMU. She changed the way I write papers, which was the idea behind the class. If you need any help, she's there for you, and cares what you have to say- never speaking down at you. Take her class for english 201 or any class for that matter.
this professor is so-so; very quiet and boring, so it's hard to pay attention to her. overall the class isn't that difficult, but her assignments are only worth like 4 points! it is hard to get an A in her class because if you make one mistake, you're grade is dramatically lowered.
An okay teacher. You need to write her way to get a good grade. The quote quiz at the end for the half the final is stupid. I would take her again if I had to.
Hard class if you ask me, but I'm not into reading plays at all. Spent so much time on plays because "I'm a real playwright!" Nice lady however. Class was pretty hard and a lot of reading and work. Definetly recommend something else for that UP if you aren't into reading poems and plays.
Diana Luehm is inept. Her class lectures are completely opinionated and are sometimes just plain incorrect. She has been know to go out of her way to start conversations completely out of context with the class and will even prattle on if they taper off. The point of being in college is to learn objectivity and academic knowledge; she lacks both.
I liked her a lot. She was really nice. She talks a lot and sometimes I just had to laugh at some of the stuff she said. The class is kinda hard but she will help you if you need it.
She's nice. It's an easy class if you aren't an idiot and can write a decent paper..like you should be able to anyways! Good class, good prof.
She is a very nice lady, but not so much a good teacher. It's a very easy class, yet I didn't seem to feel like I learned anything. You usually want the easy classes, yet this one is so easy that you almost WISH you were doing something. She spends 1/2 of the class taking attendance and making sure she has everyones name memorized. Very very boring
It is hard to pay attention to her discussions. I usually end up daydreaming through most of class. The work is tedious and pointless. There is a lot of reading required so be prepared. I would not take her again!
this teacher is really boring and it is hard to pay attention in class. i always get lost in the lectures so i would have a hard time on the exams. i would rarely read the homework and somehow still managed a C in the class.
This teacher is a total nutcase. She is seriously something else. The class seems easy but then you get your final exam on stuff you never even learned such as "the rule of 72?" what is that? what does that have to do with literature? i found this the most useless, boring, hellhole of a class i've ever taken. dont take it-youll regret it!!!!
Even if the class isn't always the most interesting it is really easy and she is very lenient on everything. Just sit through the class with somewhat paying attention and you should be able to do really good in the class.
To start, I absolutely hate English, and I got an A. She is a very nice teacher that's willing to help in any way possible. She might be the only teacher I've had in college that actually cared about how I did. She's very genuine and a very good teacher. Always willing to help proof a paper with a quick stop to her office. I definitely recommend.
Grades pretty hard, but covers the basics as a refresher. If you're a strong writer, you should be fine.
She is a VERY tough grader. Doesn't respect student's opinions. overall an OKAY teacher if you have excellent writing skills.
She is very generous and passionate about writing. I would say make your presence known in her class and ACT like you care about what she is talking about, she would notice it. She like to help you out when needed. She gives easy assignments and she makes the class comfortable. Easy class, Easy grade, Easy teacher..Take it!
she's a very nice person, but this is the most boring one I've ever taken and the material seems pointless. It's an easy A though if you pay attention. Nice teacher, but boring.
she rambles on about her own thoughts and does not teach very clearly, i would never take another class with this teacher, and i recommended that nobody else does
Great teacher. She's very interested in what she's talking about and wants to get the class interested as well. Highly recommend for anyone that is interested in current politics.
Nice lady. bumbed heads with her a couple times, but she grades easy and is a MAJOR PUSHOVER. But I enjoyed the class. Only wish I woulda shown up more...
Go to class, she takes attendance everyday and will notice if you are not there. She is a very passionate lady and will go above and beyond to help you, you just have to ask. Great Prof! :)
Nice lady, but not the best teacher. Go to class and get extra points. Hard to learn the material though, especially for exams.
Loved this teacher. She really cared about her students and tried to get them to do their best. Quizzes can be hard but overall fair grader. I'd definitely take another class with her I learned so much!
Great teacher. I can't believe how much I learned from her. Extremely nice and honestly cares about her students. I would love to take a class with her again. She grades fairly and is willing to help you improve papers if you go to her.
Genuinely cares about her students. She's an extremely nice lady, who is open to anything that you want to write about on your papers. Most of the class is reading-based, but there are four large papers, the longest being five pages. I would highly recommend her, and would easily take a class with her again if my degree requires it.
This professor is great. She is such a nice person and cares about everyone. She gives you plenty of time for your papers and is a fair grader. She likes having class discussions which makes the class go faster. I would recommend her.
Completely pointless class. She rambles on about the most random things possible. She can't help but go on a tangent for the whole class period. You can't help but fall asleep or day dream about being in a different class. She doesn't keep track of grades or put them on blackboard or email/call you back. Extremely unreachable. Kind of a nutcase. :/
very good teacher. pretty easy grader. Go to class and you will do good.
Very tough grader. Goes over stuff that is really pointless, and she doesn't give you a good range of topics for the first couple of essays.
She is honestly not a very good professor. She gives you terrible topics for the essays; and she also has you do the most random assignments that have nothing to do with the course. Besides all that, it's also annoying when she rambles on about grammar and spelling. I definitely would not recommend taking her.
If you just need to pass take her. Easy grader. Obsessed with Abraham Lincoln.
Professor Luehm had a hard time keeping track of my grade, so try to keep track yourself. Class is not hard, attendance is mandatory, you get roughly 2 excused absences. She is obsessed with Abraham Lincoln.
Most of your grade will consist of essays (about 3 major ones and 2 smaller papers). She spends most of the lectures talking about grammar, and the reading she assigns for homework. Gives at least one HW assignment per week. Wasn't a hard class but it was definitely a little on the boring side. Textbook was a waste of $$. All material is online.
Professor Luehm is very nice she really knows what she is doing. She loves Lincoln with a passion. Most of your grade comes from papers, but offers one rewrite! One reading assignment per week, then usually a class discussion. Easy class just tough grader on papers. Overall good teacher and very sweet, take her!
Homework consists of reading the material from the book, then answering 8-12 questions on it. There was maybe one or two quizzes, and then the Final. Most of the points are going to come from writing papers. Topics to write about aren't boring, but aren't super fun either. Didn't post grades all semester.
If you are a strong writer then you will do well. Huge Feminist and very boring speaker
I enjoyed the class; the lack of topic choice for some of the papers was a little annoying though. Overall, if you are a decent writer you will do well. There is very little chance for peer reviews, so make sure to use the writing center or find others to proofread your papers. She incorporates a lot of interesting themes into the class as well.
Very nice and helpful. She is a bit goofy but that's better than a lame teacher. She assigns alot of papers and homework. Her grading on my papers have been the toughest I have ever had, but she is very good at what she does. Definitely will make you a great writer. She also offers some extra credit.
I learned more about history and politics than English in this class. The professor is clearly opinionated and loves to talk about things she's passionate about. She also really likes grammar, and you'll do a lot with that. Homework is assigned almost every day. However, if you keep up with everything it's not too difficult.
Overall, the class wasn't difficult, but it was extremely frustrating. Professor Luehm does not update BlackBoard, so there's no way to tell what your grade is (even if you ask her) the entire semester. The class felt more like a writing intensive political-science class than a general english class. Easy class, but filled with constant frustration
This class felt more like a WI history class. All the papers you will write are about history. If you are a strong writer, then you will do fine. Does not update blackboard once.
Professor Luehm was great! She assigns a lot of papers and grades pretty harshly on them, but if you do your best work and visit her office hours you should be fine! Be sure to complete homework assignments if you want to pass cause those points add up. She is a pretty understanding lady overall just show up, complete assignments and participate.
She's obsessed with Abraham Lincoln, grammar, and spreading her anti-communist and anti-abortion agenda. Expect to pass if you try.
She is a very nice lady. As long as you show up to class and really put in some effort on the papers, you will be fine. Shes really big on grammar, and she will give you grammar worksheets all throughout the semester. I highly recommend her if you want an A or B in this course.
Annoying grader. Points out specific things you did wrong that really shouldnt matter rather than stuff that will improve your writing. Assignments were odd and didnt make much sense. Discussion boards sucked and were pointless. Got to redo papers many times, which was the only good thing. Shes retiring this semester but reviews are therapeutic.
