Martin kicks buttocks. Her explanations are clear and deliberate, outstanding lecturer and all around cool lady.

i never went to lecture and on the day of the exam, i read thru all the chapters that were on the exam from the moment i got up til the exam that night. i got a B! trust me, everything on the test was straight from the book... lectures are pointless

very very very boring...but knows what she's talking about..notes are very clear and very good...but her review sessios aren't helpful at all. exams are a bit hard requires a lot of studying!!!

She is sooo great! Sit in the front and ull never fall asleep. She is really interesting and kinda funny, you just have to go in there with a willingness to learn. Great notes and clear, but u have to understand that u HAVE to study if you take her. &l

One prof who knows her stuff...the things in the book don't exactly complete her notes, so you have to take notes in class; notes are excellent and organized...very helpful if you have any questions or concerns

I admitted twice I cheated, but later said I didn't... and she didn't do anything ---I got sympathy since my family is ****ed up.

She's a very nice lady and knows a great deal of biology. If you are interested in biology you will not find her lectures boring -- they are very thorough. If you're just taking the course to fulfill a requirement, though, you won't have too much fun.

Dr. Martin receives an unfair bad rap from students who don't have the initiative to actually LEARN her material. Her exams are only difficult if you don't go to lecture or study, and you have to study for at least 10 serious hours on each hourly exam.

Dr. Martin basically teaches from her lecture notes. If you go to class and actually pay attention, you can gain a great deal. Rocked a b+ in the class.

Eventhough she can be ****y and has an annoyign voice....pretty good professor spells everything out for you and writes down major points....don't read the book alone it will confuse you go to class and concentrate on what she says there

Probably the best bio professor ever...notes are very clear and easy to understand...no reason why anybody shouldn't get A's on the exams since she practically recites her notes, and all you gotta do is write everything down since she goes very slowly

she is a really good professor.people complain about how hard the class is and how much material there is.but they are just too lazy to go to lecture.to get an A- go to lecture, pay attention, get notes down and at exam time know them WELL and ur good

she's not so bad. i hated her but then got dr French and learned to appreciate her. she's tough but this class in not meant to be elective and most of the students are premeds/rx so it's understandable. must read and go to lectures. huge curve especially on lab practical.

i like Dr.Martin, she genuinely wants to help everyone understand the material and as long as you skim her text book before class you can follow her in the lectures. her exams are hard but there is a huge curve, she's organized and straight forward.

Go to class and write down as much as she says as you can. She will say her point a few times so if you are paying attention its hard to miss it. Don't read the book. When exam time happens, read your notes, and if you have q's go to her office hours. She is extremely helpful there. I got A's.

She isn't so nice and makes the exams very difficult. However if you attend her lectures and study the book on your own you should be okay.

She's nice and sincere about wanting students to do well. Listen to her advice about study groups 'cause it reinforces/clarifies info esp when you teach others. Overhead figures are important!

I'm not sure why everyone hates on Dr. Martin so much.. she's a really nice lady who wants all of her students to do well. This class was a huge lecture hall (the biggest I've ever had) but if you sit in the front, it feels like there are 20 people tops, and she is not boring. She is also really helpful at her weekly review sessions at the MSLC.

i like her. she is very clear, gives you an outline of wat she will explain in lecture. and she says 1st day of class that everything in lecture is fair game for exam. its that simple. just pay attention and take good notes! but u should go back and read what she explains in lecutre in the book.

Very enthusiastic about her subject. Good professor, very helpful. Her lectures are kind of hard to follow sometimes, and she doesn't write down many notes. Other than that she is good. Just go to class and pay attention and you will be fine.

She's a very good teacher, she puts all of the information out there, but it is your responsibility to go to class and study. Everything she talks about is on the exam, so just go to class and you'll be fine.

A lot of people don't like her, but I have to say that my notes for her lectures are by the BEST out of all of the bio teachers. Her tests come DIRECTLY from lectures. Don't bother reading the book because there is a lot in there that she skips. Just go to lecture, take notes, and study in a group and you shouldn't have a problem getting 120+

I really liked Dr. Martin. Her lectures were clear and to the point, and she has a lot of knowledge about biology. Her exams can be tricky, but if you study you will do fine. She is a really good professor and I recommend her.

The 4 Steps you need to get an A in Dr. Martin's Biology 1.) Attend all lectures 2.) Take GOOD notes 3.) Make flash cards 4.) Switch out of Dr. Martin's section as soon as possible!

She is all right. If you stay focused, you'll do fine. And make sure you take good notes since most of what she covers is on the exam

everything on the test comes from the lecture, it's SO easy. she's boring but if you apply whatever she says to the questions... =)

I don't understand what everyone's problem is with her. She is a really really NICE lady who will go out of her way to help you if you have questions. Her lecture may be a bit dry but she emphasizes the important points and really makes sure that you learn bio. Plus, if you go to her lecture you don't need to really read the text book. TAKE HER!

I SERIOUSLY DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THESE PEOPLE LEAVE ALL THESE NEGATIVE COMMENTS. Martin is a rele nice person. bio101 is a breeze if you actually go to her lectures and take notes (I went nuts with my notes). Ppl get bad grades b/c they don't study. it's as simple as that. u don't hafta read the book either.just study the quesnaire thing n u'll ace

This teacher isn't bad at all as long as you're willing to put in the time and effort. My recommendation for doing well in 101-102 for Dr. Martin's exams: get the lecture outline from the mslc, take good notes during class, go over your notes and compare them with the outline. Use the book for clarity and for anything thats missing in your notes.

ok, so everyone makes this lady seem to be a horrible teacher. if you just go to her lectures and pretty much write everything she says, its an easy A. I didnt use the book for any of the exams she made, just memorized the notes i took from lecture. just go to lecture, and write everything she says..it will be on the test.

I visited the first few lectures, and then stopped going (zzzzzz). I got an A. I read the book, and bought the study guide upstairs in the MSLC the night before each exam. Make sure you do well on the lab practical, it counts for a large bulk of your grade.

need to go to lecture to get the material that will be on the exam. should have gotten an a but got a low b on the final so i got a b+ for the semester. martin is the best lecturer. helpful to go to her lecture review.

People complain about how he reads from the book, but that's because SHE WROTE THE BOOK. In any case, since you're going to have to use the book a lot anyway, the best way to study (in my opinion) is to get the notes from the MSLC (since she doesn't test everything in the book) and make <u>good</u> notes on the chapter and review 'em.

One of the best teachers in the university. Lectures are clear and interesting. Takes a genuine interest in student learning, very accessible at office hours.

She's really just an old grandma and she fits the stereotype. She likes to ramble and talk about how things are pronounced but if you either listen to her lectures (boring) or read the book (special attention to diagrams) you'll be fine. Old exams are online studyblue or DC++ so go for it. Very strict with plagarism BE CAREFUL

Dr. Martin is not really as bad as all these people comment. Her test questions are a bit tricky, but she gives out notes and pictures from her slides ahead of time so its easy to take notes. Got an A in both 101 and 102, no big deal

She isn't as bad as people say she is. She talks slow enough so you can write down good notes. Her lecture outlines will save your butt when studying for her difficult tests SO GET THEM. Yes, they are hard, but that means a bigger curve. Read the chapter before going to class and study hard. Science is hard, don't try to blame the professor.

Buy her lecture notes (or copy/scan them yourself, just ask at MSLC). Go to lecture, because anything she doesn't cover in lecture won't be on the exams (even if they're mentioned in lecture notes). Her lecture reviews were helpful if you have questions, as well as TA office hours. Don't slack off in lab. She's a decent professor.
