Very consciencious professor. Not recommended for students who do not read and want an easy grade. She graduated from Cornell, a lot harder than UCLA.

Took her 1B when she discussed classical Greek plays--she knows this material very well and found her very entertaining. Note: she is very accommodating with "returning" students!

she is very clear.. just very repetitive for some of us. those who don't speak in good english will really like her. but in her class. u MUST WORK HARD. or else don't even dream of passing her class.

I think she is not as bad as some people said. Actually I really learned a lot from this class which is absolutely helpful in my other classes. Writing argumentative essay and essay exam are very useful in other classes.

She is very straighforward. If you work hard you will get good credit for it, if you don't then not for sure.

She is a very nice professor. She prepares us for English 1A. She understands the difficulties of students. Her grading system is fair. If you tries hard, you will get good grade.

She is not as horrible as some students think. Follow her steps and do what she wants, then you should be fine. However, if your English is not at the level, you might need to work harder. P.S.: grade on in-class essay and essay exam!

She is a good and nice teacher. She gave us great help on eassy and eassy questions to survive in the english 1A. But she should make a schedule for his lecture. Nice people!

she does help u a lot, but her grade is low, she will give the students she likes a great grade, if u are a quiet person and dont catch her eyes, maybe.....i think the grade is not so fair.!!!

I don't agree with the comments below... This is the best professor I have ever seen, she gives you ways of making your essay better and if you show her that you work hard and properly she will respect you and help you more than necessary.

She teaches extremely well because she really knows what you need. The class is not hard if you pay attention to what she says. The note will be quite messy because she adds many things during the lecture but those information will help you a lot! They will not be on your exam but the more you get, the better your essay will be. ^^

This professor was one of the best professors I had in a while...so much so that I even gave her a "thank you" card and plan on visiting her on occasion. She truly cares about the well being of her students and is fair. Doesn't grade unfairly and will assist you outside of class on any problems you may have. Loved her!

I think she's a good professor because she whould give you a lot of helpful informations, and told you the way to improve your English. Even though the essay exam requires students to remember a lot, but it's not really difficult if take some time to prepare it.

I'm very much impressed with this teacher since the first time i listen to her lecture, very enthusiastic, it seems like she's always put her mind in teaching, she believes in what she is doing an one last thing, she never turn her back to a single question from student.

well i think this teacher is good she explains well somtimes she kind of do a mess on the board but it is ok not so hard you just need to touch her with poetry jeje.

I used to sit in the front of her class and sleep all semester long. Class is extremely boring, but most GE classes are anyway. Assignments are very straightforward and simple. She can be cutthroat but she means well -- shes just trying to mold you into a better student. Couple videos that she rambles on about; I thought they were again .. boring.

Professor Savas is passionate about Greek Literature which makes the class more interesting. She wants all her students to succeed and gives plenty feedback on papers & spends time after & before class answering any questions you might have. I wasn't a big fan of the subject prior to taking her class but she made it interesting. Shes a good teacher

One of the best professors in PCC. I recommend her if you really want to learn and improve your English skills. She extremely cares about her students and puts heart into teaching. She is a very knowledgeable teacher. I like her so much.

what you put in is what you will get out of it. you never learn anything through easy ways. prof. savas is extremely passionate about her subject and helpful. complain about hard classes, hard grading professors and heavy workload? please stay home and don't go to college!

I thought the class was not good because it was so difficult.HOWEVER, after I took ENG1A,I could see how helpful her class was.1A is just extention of her 33B.I think she knows what you're gonna deal with in 1A b/c she teaches 1B.Take her class only if you are ready to study.you'll never pass unless you study hard.She really cares abt her students.

If you want to be a writer this is the class to take. This is not for the faint of heart, she pulls no punches. There is a lot of writing and she won?t stand for work that is subpar, you just can?t ?mail it in? in this class. You will know how to define a tragedy and what elements make up a ?fine? tragedy. choosing this class saves money coz you need no textbook but a dictionary. She is a very nice and fun teacher. But, her class isn't easy, she tried to make you prepared for 1A. Following her guide to write essays would be very helpful. in summary, hard but very useful to take her class!

She's extremely strict. If you think you're high level just like a UC student, take her. Or you need to super work hard on her paper and works so that you might ,yea, might pass this class.

Frankly Speaking, she is a really hard professor. However, she goes over all the materials detail to write research papers and essays, so I would like to say that she is also extremely helpful for English 1A. Again, she is one of the hardest teachers at PCC, but If you do your best on your papers, I am sure that you will receive the grades you need

Prof Savas is quite hard. However, she is very very helpful. You're very lucky if you can attend in her class. You can be trained as a good student. The score that she gives you reflects exactly your ability. Overall, she is great!

This teacher is very hard, harder than any other teacher I have taken and she's hard at her grading also. She gave a lot of homework that you need to print out. I printed 100+ white papers after I attended her course. -Also, a lot of repeating at lectures which makes it very boring and sleepy

Prof. Savas is a nice person. Although I took her ESL 122 class 1 year ago, I sometime still visit her and ask for her help for my ESL 33A&33B class. She doesn't give a lot of homework.

I took her class last Fall. It was my first semester in America, so I was worried if I couldn't get a good grade. However, she helped me a LOT for everything. She is strict, but she is actually really kind and nice. I improved so much thanks to her lecture. She is the best grammar teacher. So, if you want to improve your grammar, take her class!

I took her esl122 in summer. At first i could not catching up because my writing skill was really poor. But she really helps students to learn how to write and how to express their thought. Just follow her steps and do your OWN work, you will easily pass the class.

The professor taught very professional in each class. She has gorgeous faith in her job. In addition, she respects us, her students. She never gives a hard time to us but not spoiled. Furthermore, she is a great kind heart person, who all the time caring other who need help. Not only the knowledge, she also taught the youth to be a good one.

It has been some 30 years ago since I took this class with prof Savas. She was an excellent instructor who left indelible memories of what a dedicated instructor should be like. I had taken ESL classes and ENG 1A before taking her class, and I was scared of this higher English class but she made it enjoyable and interesting.
