Very unclear because of thick accent. Is not very helpful in class, but will help during her office hours.
Her accent is a welcomed change. I enjoy listening to her.
Math is hard enough to understand. Add a very thick accent and I couldn't get a darn thing done.
Math 104 is hard alredy and with a strong acdent it was hard for me to understand. she is a nice lady and is kinda funny someitmes.
The worst grad student instructor I have ever had the displeasure of taking a class from. Not only is her English horrid, she talks a million miles an hour...very condescending. If your forced to take a class with her, skip class and teach yourself
Math is tough enough without trying to listen through an accent. She's a really nice professor, and if you love math, she's a great instructor, just don't take a class from her if you hate math.
She is not too bad but it can be really hard to understand her with the accent she has. Takes a few weeks before you know what she is saying. She isn't very helpful when it comes to grades, if you are passing the class she will tell you your grade is just fine and not to worry about it.
Worst teacher i have ever had.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I pity anyone stuck with Stewart as an instructor. Not only is there a language barrier (harsh Russian accent), she displays an apparent disinterest in actually communicating the concepts or even the homework assignments. Always a surprise quiz/homework due dates without notice. BAD, bad, bad, I wish I never had taken her.
Worst math teacher i have ever taken hard to understand her and she gives quizes that have nothing to do with the info she just tought you.
She is horrable as a teacher. I went to her for help and she told me that I needed to figure it out for myself because it is "basic algebra." The tests were difficult seeing as nothing she covered in class was on them....my advice is to not take her.
She doesn't give out reviews for test, so it's hard to predict what will be on it. Although she can do math, she doesn't know how to teach.
I only had her for a substitute for my regular teacher for a couple of days. She does know what she is doing, but doesnt care whether or not the class does. Worst couple of days with her, I cant imagine an entire quarter. Avoid if you can.
This is easily the worst teacher I have ever had. I feel sorry for anybody stuck with her as their teacher. For starters, she has a thick Eastern European accent. She doesnt really seem to care if you succeed or not. She doesnt give reviews. All learning you do will be from the book, so study very hard. If the devil was a teacher, she would be it.
Horrible... Hard to understand her speech. You ask a question and she'll act like "Are you kidding me?" She'll somewhat help you, but if you still dont get it, she'll get frustrated with you and pretty much call you Dumb and say, "go to math lab." a totally rude person.

Great Professor!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
this lady does know math. but there is a huge language barrier and she really likes to make you feel stupid. but when you do good she lets you know so thats good. shes just so hard to understand and she thinks that students should learn on ther own shes just there to show examples. don't take her, especially for 115.
SHE IS WILLING TO HELP U IF U NEED THE HELP EVEN THOUGH SHE IS NOT VERY CLEAR ABOUT WHAT SHE IS TEACHING BUT SHE DOES OFFER OTHER WAYS OF U UNDERSTANDING THE MATERIAL BY THIS I MEAN TUTOR CENTER OR STUDY GROUPS AND OR STUDY STUDY STUDY THE MATERIAL EASY PERSON TO TALK TO BUT KIND OF HARD TO UNDERSTAND BECAUSE OF HER ACCENT AT LEAST ON MY PART
she is a horrible teacher. You can't understand her because of her accent and she doesn't explain things at all. She gives lots of quizes and tests that are nothing like the homework. I didn't enjoy the class at all and with a different teacher I could have gotten a much better grade. Do not take her.
you will pass if your lucky
At first it was hard to understand her accent but I didnt great on my first test and I thought she was good at explaining. She actually does know her math. Later into the quarter she started speeding up with the material that I just got lost. She scares you to do a million HW probs and collects a few when she feels like it. Your lucky to pass!
hard to understand because of her accent, she made everyone feel stupid when they asked questions, and would get angry if the class didn't understand something, a ton of pop quizzes! she threatened to quiz us every 5 min until we understood the section, take it by someone else if you don't wanna have to take it twice
Diana will try on her part to teach the material. She is very easy to talk to. If you dont understand the material get a tutor or go to study groups ASAP. She will sit down with you and explain material but dont count on her holding your hand. Math lab is a waste of time!
Very poor teaching style, unorganized, difficult to understand, slow test grader. If you have the option to take another teacher do!
DO NOT take her for Math 115. You can't understand what she says because of her accent. She gives a TON of pop quizes. Her tests are really hard. She won't review you for it. Even if you review using your homework, the test is completely different. A LOT of word problems on tests. More than half of the class failed.
Can not understand her due to her heavy accent and broken English. Very poor knowledge of the subject. Constantly gets confused when explaining problems...TERRIBLE, may be my worst experience in college.
She has a thick accent and I have a hard time understanding what she is saying. Aside from that, I have a hard time understanding her directions. To make it better, she is rude and demeaning. She embarrasses students all the time.
horrible teacher. talks to students like they are retarded. never checks her work. tons of typos on quizzes and tests. cant speak English.
Yeah she has an accent, but you get used to it after a while. You have to actually pay attention and try and not just expect a passing grade. Work for it, go to plus group. I got a 4.0 in the class, I got passed her accent and stopped ****ing about it and got down to work.
Easiness2 Helpfulness5 Clarity3 Rater Interest1 I took M115 from pr. Stuart and really liked this class. I would suggest you take it from her. Its not too hard just do the work.
I just took M 115 and absolutely love it. She is great!
I was reading the comments and don't agree with it. Dr. Stuart is a very knowledgeable and helpful; she is welcoming questions. She likes students? participations in her class. She is very experience; her explanations are very clear but you have to do you HW. She can show problems in a few different ways that it would be easier to understand. I lik
Excellent professor, she is very passionate, she makes the material interesting and fun. She is very experience and brings a lot of personality in teaching it. She loves working with students. She keeps very high standard in her teaching and demands the same from students. I would highly recommend her as I learned so much from her and had fun while
Great teacher. Helps you with all your needs and is not to hard. I would totally recommend her to anyone.
I really liked her! She does have an accent but it's easy to get used to. She does expect a lot from her students but all teachers should. She is pretty goofy and a really good teacher.!!!!!!!!:)
I really liked Dr. Stuart. She is a good teacher and will help you if you go ask for help. I got use to her accent pretty quickly. She expects a lot but you will learn a lot. I would take another class from her.
She has an accent but if you pay attention she is rather witty and helpful. She cares about getting the information to you. I loved her.
Really nice lady and she clearly wants you to succeed. Seriously though don't write this class off as easy and think you can get away with not showing up every now and then. If you don't know the material or do well in this class then it's probably your fault. Go to class and plus group!!
She is an extemely sweet person who works very hard to explain the course to her students. If you attend class every day and do your homework you should have no trouble passing this class. If you want to get a high GPA though, I would recommend attending the PLUS group or finding a tutor. Her accent is a little strong and takes some getting used to
Hands down one of the worst professors I have ever had. She is not clear. She teaches one thing but completely changes it up on the test. Our whole class bombed a tests and she asked the class why this was and said that we need to try harder. She doesn't cover the material very well. The material is easy but the way she teaches is b.s.
I love Professor Stuart. At first I was skeptical with her accent (She is Russian) but that took no time at all to get used to. She is great at explaining the material and is always asking questions in class to make sure you are on the right track. Her tests were straight forward if you did the homework and go to class. I love math and this class
She has a Very thick Russian accent and faces the whiteboard when talking. This prevents you from seeing what she is writing and you can't understand what she is saying, so taking notes is rather difficult. She uses an online homework system that costs 75 bucks if you don't buy a brand new text book.
Prof. Stuart is an excellent teacher who goes out of her way to help students understand a very rigorous course. She does move fast, but that is the nature of Precalc and Calculus math, and everyone is required to cover the course material in time to move on. Her accent is a bit difficult until you get used to it. Wonderful Prof. Take her!
I would have gotten a better lesson if I learned math in mexico and I dont even know spanish.
Although her accent is very thick she knows the material like the back of her hand. She will help you with anything that you need help with. She does not mind staying after class or meeting in her office if you are having a hard time with the material. Great instructor!
Such a sweet lady! I hated math and did not think I was good at it prior to this class. Her accent takes getting used to, but she is extremely helpful, makes jokes, and will cater to the students needs when it comes to test times, days, homework, etc. The tests can be challenging when you don't go to class. I would recommend her to all 115 ppl!
She was very hard to understand at first, and if you arent doing well in the class, she doesnt care. she gives me sighs and no sign of help because i am not understanding her teaching methods and i still go to the math lab.
Very knowledgeable, but hard to understand at times. If you have trouble understanding accents, either switch to a different section or sit in the front and find people to study with - it makes all the difference. I highly suggest NOT trying to get through this class alone; make friends as soon as possible!
This class is really easy in the beginning but its very easy to get lost. You can barely understand her... She uses online hw assignments and way too many handouts that its hard to stay organized. Shes funny and tells a lot of good stories but I'm not sure I really learned what I was suppose to in an effective manner.
This class is HARD & math is tough for me. You have to work & keep up. I was thrown by her accent at first, but after a couple of days I got used to it. She cares VERY MUCH that you understand & she checks that you do & will work with the class until they seem to get it. She gives you EVERY opportunity to succeed. She's a GREAT TEACHER!!!
She made the class a lot of fun and was genuinely interested in the subject.
The class was easy in the beginning. I got the material very quickly. Then it started getting hard. Sometimes she helps you out but other times just says your not serious and keeps it moving. She gave me hope that I was gonna pass and it didn't happen. Don't take her. P.S. I attended class EVERYDAY and went to the math lab too.
This class is HARD, but she's really good as far as math teachers go. For the first time since starting at Eastern 4 years ago, I actually feel like I'm going to pass math with a pretty good grade. Just keep up with homework and assignments and come to class every day and you should do fine. She'll go over everything and help you until you get it
The rudest teacher I have ever had. She won't answer student questions and is completely condescending.
She makes fun of students, refuses to answer questions and has terrible English. Makes me want to transfer away from EWU.
It is hard to ask questions because she frequently shoots questions down by saying they aren't relevant or just telling the student to figure them out on their own.
Don't buy the book, just buy webassign once you get class code. Do all your homework and start it early. If you get stuck get free tutoring at learning commons, math lab sucks for this class. Professors understanding of English lang hinders her understanding our students questions and tells you to see her during office hours. Learn on your own 3.6+
Even thou class is not mandatory, don't miss one dag. Webassign Always Thousands of homeworks that are directly related to the tests. She might have an accent but her lectures and explanations are clear. Talk to her, she cares about students individual learning needs She always there to help.
She cares about students individual needs. she does have an accent, but if you stop to listen and pay attention you get used to it. she is always available to help.
Great teacher. first math Teacher that can actually teach math at EWU! hard to understand at first because of accent, but after a few days you get used to it. dont miss a single day of class though or you will get behind SO fast! she is always willing to work with you if you ask. she has saved EWU math dept in my mind.
She encourages students to ask questions. Lots of webassign homework but if you do them it boosts your grade very much. She is the best math teacher I've evt had, super nice.
She came in to sub our class after our instructor had to leave on an emergency. Hands down the best math teacher at EWU I wish I had her this whole quarter she encourages people to ask questions & gets the class involved.
Even though its math, which i suck at, she explained it so well! she did her best to help the students every day! take her if you get the chance!
Good teacher and there if you need her. Has a great personality, funny, and keeps you involved in lectures.
Amazing prof. who makes math very easy to understand. She gives out a lot of homework which is purely for your benefit and will try her best to help you if you don't have the time to do them. She will also help by pushing back tests and due dates if she feels it necessary. Many complain about her accent but i found no trouble after the first week.
It's not an easy class and it's a lot of work but Diana is willing to help if you are willing to ask. I recommend finding a group in your class to study with in the math lab and complete all the homework. PS She drops your lowest test score. Final is cumulative.
She's extremely nice and makes you feel comfortable to ask whatever question you have.
She's really nice but is pretty confusing in the beginning but you'll get the hang of it after a while. She's a really easy grader and gives good feedback. Her accent is sometimes a little bit hard to understand but you'll understand her pretty well for the most part. I think she was one of the best math teachers I've had so far!
Her accent is very hard to understand, and she tends to laugh when students ask questions. One of the worst math teachers I have had ever. Don't take her if you can.
This class is fairly easy. Come to class and everything will make sense. If you don't come, just read the book. There are homework assignments for every section due about every two days. The tests are easy if you do the homework. The review assignments are extra credit. She has a pretty thick accent and I have to really pay attention to understand.
She has a pretty thick accent, which wasn't a problem for me. She goes pretty far into detail to make sure everyone in the class understands. If you show up to class she pretty much teaches you the whole chapter in class so you won't have to read much. If you don't show up, expect to read and take notes on the whole chapter at home. The book sucks
I really liked her. She has an ascent that is hard to understand at first, but you get use to it. Sometimes doesn't want to answer your questions if she feels they're irrelevant. But overal she's a good teacher.
Her accent is a little hard to understand at first. She cares about her student's success. If you need help she is there for you. Spends a lot of time going over examples and questions, which is very helpful. Like most classes, if you don't put in the effort you won't do well.
She has a thick accent but as the course progresses you learn to understand her better. She is willing to work with you to help you understand the material. As long as you really try in her class and even utilize the math lab you should be fine. It says the textbook is required but on the website she uses for homework you have access to it for free
She is Russian so her accent is heavy and sometimes hard to understand. She is super nice but its a great idea to get help outside of class with her because she moves fast in class. Makes you print out worksheets from home. Tests are hard and she doesn't give out a review before the test just gives chance to ask questions. HW isn't bad.
Her accent is difficult to understand and she seems standoffish at first, but by about halfway through the quarter she opens up and jokes more. Grades fairly and provides extra credit on exams, and will give extensions on hw for good reasons. She had a tough time getting concepts through to non-math major freshmen, but most students will be fine.
Ms. Stuart has a thick Eastern European accent, so you need to pay attention to what she says. She covers the material thoroughly, even though she will complete an explanation of a problem at the expense of reviewing others. She gets funnier the farther into the quarter she gets. She frequently states "you guys are here to pass. let me help."
Her heavy accent makes it difficult to understand. If you need help and ask during class she will suggest the math lab. Instead of helping you herself.
Best math professor I have had. She does most of the homework on web assign and gives you 5 attempts on each question. As long as you do your homework you should pass. I found that the tests usually are easier than the homework. I would read the textbook before coming to class or then you will be confused during class. Had 99% in her class
At first she is hard to understand but most people pick her accent up pretty quick. Her lectures are pretty good and she goes deep into the material. Her test are not to difficult and she does lots of online homework. She answers most questions and really does want to help people learn.
Good teacher, but she can be a little rough around the edges. If you go in for help make sure you have looked over the textbook before hand, or she wont help you. Easy class as long as you turn everything in and study for the tests.
She taught my MATH 107 with is one of the most commonly failed classes at EWU and she was amazing! She cared about us and wanted to help us. If we needed her to slow down or go over something again she was happy to!
hard to undertsand at first but other than that, shes great!
I found her nearly impossible to understand her lectures and was occasionally confused by her grading style. Homework was all online with tests in class. She drops the worst test score. Overall this class was okay, but I would recommend another professor.
Strict and not easy to approach
Shes the best math prof ive had. Shes hard to approach buts really cares you pass if you go talk to her. She really wants her students to learn, and pre calc is the mosty failed math course at EWU so its not completely her fault the class is hard. She teaches you multiple ways to solve problems which if your bad at math like me is REALLY nice.
Diana Stuart is the worst math professor I've taken at EWU. She has a thick accent and does not explain how to solve an equation in a way that is easy to comprehend.
Great teacher
I had her for math 142 and she was very understanding and willing to help you with questions. She does want you to participate and attend class. There was also a lot of webassign homework and worksheets to do but it was manageable. She also made jokes and she has a thick accent and is quiet so youll want to sit close to the front of class.
I took Math 107 with her and she was amazing! Thoroughly explained the chapters and was available outside of, and before, class. Lots of people failed this class, mainly because they weren't doing the work. If you attend class, read the book, practice, and ask questions, you'll do fine. I would recommend missing as little days as possible though.
I took math 107 with her and it was honestly the best math class I have ever taken. She explained things well and was very receptive to questions, turning them so the class answered and then she would explain why.
Professor Stuart clearly explains things in class and i would say her tests replicate the homework and class lecturers. she also is very easy to talk to, so if you take her and ever have issues, definitely take advantage of her office hours. she does have a thick accent but her english is really good, so she is fairly easy to understand!
You are expected to participate and attend her classes. The work load can be quite a bit if you don't stay on top of it; especially with the Webassign assignments. The exams are strides more difficult than the examples in the class, so make sure you have a complete understanding of the material. Otherwise, she is a very approachable and sweet.
Very hard to understand. Doesn't really teach much as its more examples and you have to work your way through them. I tried to ask questions in class and was made fun of by her for not understanding it. I went to office hours and she didn't help me at all. I would go to math tutors in Kingston and they had no clue how to help either.
She has a heavy accent, but you honestly get used to it within the first week. Amount of homework is pretty difficult to handle (12 pages of collected homework on top of 50+ online questions per week at times). Very fast-paced, but she has the best intentions for her students and actually cares.
HORRIBLE. Rude. Cant teach. Heavy accent. Never responds to messages n never goes over homework in class. If i could give a negative rating i would.
Thick accent making it hard to follow along in zoom. When it comes to the teaching she uses links to YouTube videos not made by her that the link doesnt always work, and slides with screenshots of the book. When contacting her only expect one reply and have no follow up questions. She struggles with technology making the zooms very ineffective.
By far one of the worst math teachers I have ever came across. She has a heavy accent and with the class being on zoom it becomes harder to understand her. She will lecture at the beginning of the term but then will have you heavily rely on lecture videos she gives out (the videos are made by some other professor) and assigns a lot of homework.
Professor Stuart genuinely cares about her students and wants them to succeed. I have not had a more caring math professor in my life. While she does have an accent, it only takes a few days to get used to it and it definitely doesn't take away from the class if you just try. She struggles a little with Zoom, but I blame that on her internet.
Diana doesn't really teach, she more tells you what you should be doing. She also will let you keep talking about something even if you are wrong and then wonders why no one wants to answer her questions. She also grades the exams very strictly, if you don't show every single step you can get points of knocked off.
Professor Stuart is one of the nicest ladies Ive met, she has a lot of respect for her students and honestly tries her hardest to help everyone in her class. The class is hard but you can tell that she understands that and tries to help you pass.
Very heavy accent and I am currently taking it. I don't understand math as it is and I am mostly deaf so its extremely hard to hear her and understand her. You cover a lot of complicated stuff and I don't like her teaching style. She rambles on a lot about the topics to.
She’s not as bad as a lot of people say she is. You really have to pay attention and follow along to understand anything and she’s good at teaching the content. She’s also very nice and likes when people participate
Great teacher and really tries to make sure you understand and will succeed. The class was very hard for me but I put in the effort and passed and she was very helpful
I would take Ms. Stuart for any class if I could. Daily homework, but truly wants everyone to succeed and will extend homework/test due dates to help. I never understood math until taking her class and learned so much. She is a bit intimidating at first, but is such a caring and sweet person and one of the best professors I have had.
Very tough class. I felt like she didn't really care about what I was going through. Made going to class everyday very hard. Don't recommend taking her if you actually want to learn and be respected by your own professor.
She doesn't understand that each individual has their own way of solving math and has to have everything her way and when you call her out on things she somehow turns it back to being your own fault always says in class that you should be able to solve problems mentally but when you do that on written assignments or tests then you get marked down.
0/10 recommend. she's not very helpful at all, I suggest dropping this class honestly. definitely save yourself from the mental breakdowns
personally loved Stuart's class she helped me challenge myself and I could tell she really wanted me and other students to succeed. she breaks down problems step by step which is extremely helpful for me. there is lots of homework but the practice makes it worth it in the end. Loved her class would 100% take her again if I ever get the opportunity.
She made a mistake that caused me to not have access to any coursework or practice material. She didn't solve the issue till hours before the first test. I asked for extra time since it was her fault alone i couldn't study and she denied me and made me take the test. Shocker. I did not pass. Never gave me a fair chance and didnt see me as a person.
I didn't have any problems with Professor Stuart. She does have a strong accent, but if you can learn to understand it, and show up daily, you will be fine.
Though Professor Stuart has a strong accent, her dedication to student success makes up for it. The class is challenging, but with consistent effort and using resources like Unstuck AI, you can excel. She cares and will work with you.
When I first started this class, I was scared that I would have no chance to pass. I will start this off by saying that Professor Stuart has a very strong accent, but nonetheless she is an amazing professor. She truly cares that you get better as a student, and given the chance she WILL help you and answer any questions. Study for tests!
Mrs.Stuart has to have been the best professor for 200. She's an incredibly intelligent woman and genuinely explained everything thoroughly. Regardless if it's hard with her teaching you are bound to pass. She genuinely cares and made my math experience one to remember. If you need to take math 200 I suggest her through and through.
