Dianah is a teacher that I wish upon NO ONE. I had her for 440 and that was the biggest waste of time. DON'T BUY THE BOOK. All her tests are based off what she said 10 minutes previous to the test. The book is a waste of your money. I have not learned a thing in her class. She needs to resign.
Its really too bad that she is the only person to teach TV Directing, seeing as how she can't teach and is completely incoherent. Only teacher I have ever had who compares good acting with good 'E' and I think she would know first hand. A WASTE A WASTE A WASTE A WASTE A WASTE A WASTE A WASTE A WASTE
I'm surprised at the bad comments Dianah has received. I have mixed feelings. I got a C- for some ungodly reason, and will be forced to re-take it... But I think she is a very nice woman who is knowlegeable about TV Directing, and I actually liked her class despite my****ty ass grade!!!
BAD! Save yourself monday nights and take this class over winter session for 11 days with Thelma or in the summer. It's faster, more fun and you learn much more, not to mention it's easy because the teacher actually knows what she is doing.

I think people are a bit too harsh on Wynter. Ok, so her class is ****. I didn't buy the book or show up to most of the classes and came in halfway through most of the exams and got a B. But she's a nice lady. Limit your effort and you'll be fine.
Dianah was allright. I had her in 240 and am in 440 now. She demands a lot and grades hard but she isn't bad. I loved 240, except the tests were hard and boring. She's a cool lady, though, so class was always fun.

just dont put yourself through that...
She expects you to be mature and serious about the work. If you have problems with that, then you'll have problems with her. I found her easy to work with and the tests were easy. Don't miss class.
Prof. Wynther is so nice. CTVA 240 was my favourite this semester, you have to study hard and read the book, but u ll learn a lot!
I loved her and the class was a lot of fun, but her tests are difficult and she doesn't always explain everything you need to know. Overall, not bad.
It is too bad that CSUN pays instructors like her. She is not helpful. She seems like a nice person, but is definitely not teaching material. She should go back to directing and leave CSUN to real professors.
She seems like she would rather be directing but is forced to teach. Unhelpful and unclear on topic, very scattered. Spends a good part of the class showing her old sitcom scenes that she directed.
She's not that bad. The thing about her class is that you can grasp the material just fine but when you take a test, you feel like you have no idea what is going on. she's easy to get along with but expects you to be mature and have a good work ethic. You do learn a lot. Just be sure to keep up with the readings...
She is a good person to know for networking in the business. Hard thing is it takes too long to do in-class assignments and by the time you are tested on paper about it, weeks have gone by since she mentioned it. She is very helpful and does not want to see people fail if they are actually trying. Worth taking.
i wish i would read this rate my professor about wynter before last semester. she was very unhelpful, you can tell she doesn't care about her job like she should, when she shows teaches you something hands on she only teaches you once and expects you to be an expert at it the next time you do it. AVOID taking her. awful.
Do Not Take Wynter. She is not interested in teaching this class and it clearly shows. Relies on her TA's, who didn't seem to want to be there either, to most of her work. She was unpleasant in class and routinely cursed at students. She believes 240 is a waste of time and teaches it with a complete lack of pasion. She is a bad teacher.
Prof. Wynter has some excellent credits and actual industry experience. I had hoped for more of that to come out but she pretty much just read the book to us in class. Very un-engaging. The 5 tests were all multiple choice but focused on key terms and (ugh) dates and timelines. She's a nice prof. but this media survey class was a dud.
This class is an absolute bore. Her lectures are, basically, straight out of the book which means you really don't need to go to class (besides singing in). Her tests mostly consists of questions that are on the practice tests online (last test 46/49 questions were straight from the practice tests). VERY VERY BORING AND LONG.
Great professor. Tries to engage the class in discussions, and does so succesfully with the ones who actually try in class. The material is not hard at all as long as you read the book. And shes a sweetheart... just be nice back!
nice teacher but classes are boring and half of time i dont really see a point in her discussions. quizzes are hard and i dont know what to expect from her class. never answers her emails and is always five to ten minutes late for class. shes nice though.
Terrible professor! Her tests make no sense at all (e.i. 75% of the questions are the bits of information in the sidelines of the textbook). Her "lectures" are basically her repeating all the information in the book. There really is no reason to come to class if you've read the book except for the mandatory attendence policy.
Lectures tend to drag but are sometimes picked up with class discussions. Tests are fairly simple as long as you've been in class and have read the book. Can be a little condescending but is nice more often. Not the worst of professors, plus she shows interesting movies sometimes.
She is pretty useless. Her lecture drag on, and don't really help for her tests. Her test are pretty unfair, and the material is hidden in allof the text. half way through the semester she started giving out study guides when we all started failing, so it got easier. She doesnt respond to any emails and doesn't really wanna help of see you do we
This class had its ups and downs. Her quizes are taken RIGHT OFF the book website! Study the pre-test! If not, she will GIVE u a pre-test but that actually IS the test! Memorize the answers and ur good... Lectures can be LONG & boring! She basicially reads RIGHT out of the book. She nice/cool teacher but 3 hours feels like 4eva, movies = nap time
lol, i went to class like 3 times and stayed for the whole session, the rest of the times i stayed for half or didn't even come. her syllabus says she wil dock u for poor attendance but thats a load of ish. just get someone to initial ur name and leave..too many ppl in class, she wont notice. easy easy easy, never studied and got a C lol simple.
Interesting and fun class if you want to learn about the theory of directing.
The class is interesting. Everything she teaches is from the textbook. Tests are easy once she starts to send the study guide, which she does after the first or second test. Some students get to comfortable and start to cheat; she caught one student at the end of the semester and dropped him from the class and reported him.
BORING but interesting and easy at the same time. Do not get too comfortable with Study Guides because she puts stuff on the FINAL that was not on the study guide that was handed out. A VERY easy class if you study the study guides and come to every session. BTW don't be stupid and cheat b/c its one of the easiest classes and you WILL get reported.
Basically, easiest class ever. Bring the book to class and highlight or underline with a pencil, because her lectures are STRAIGHT out of it. Do the practice tests online and, if she emails a copy, know it. The tests are THE SAME as the practice tests (minus some questions). Know them & you'll get an A. Homework is easy. Lots of extra credit. Boring class, though.
Nice teacher, entertaining, gives you study guides for tests, not a lot of homework assignments. Must attend class every day!
The class material is extremely interesting. The way she TEACHES class is NOT. She reads off a powerpoint too fast, too difficult to take notes, but doesn't give you the PPs. Also EXTREMELY vocal about her opinions and closed minded to your, if they don't match hers. Interesting class, you learn a lot, but i hated going.
Pretty uninteresting class. If you're thinking of this for a GE, stay away! Wynter does the best she can, though it's hard to save this class. Her tests are easy, she gives you the test with all the choices there, so just look them up one by one and youll ace it. Homework seems optional, it never showed up on our grades. Can zone out, eat, whatever
Dont forget to look at her nipples in class... I sure didn't. Easy class to pass Just do the practice exams, go over them like 5 times and you could pass it like nothing.
Her teaching style is very interactive. She values class opinions and participation and doesnt seek to humiliate her students. Tests are a bit tough, but do well on the papers as they really make your grade. She's very approachable as well and wishes success for her students. Good teacher overall. Btw, the required text blows.
Had her for 100 too. AWFUL, even worse in 400. Boring, unreasonable paper expectations, grades you on "participation." Mandatory attendance, but forgets or screws up the attendance sheet then blames students for it. Once claimed the "meat & cheese lobby" was behind "Julia & Julia." Totally crazy. AVOID IF POSSIBLE.
I don't know what all of you are talking about. There are no study guides online and her quizzes are impossible. And it doesn't help that this class is one day a week and she's the only professor who teaches it. She lectures on so much information its impossible to know what to study for and even what's on the quizzes she doesn't even teach.
I don't know what you all are talking about. Her study guides are non existent online and her quizzes are impossible. She seems to quiz you on information she doesn't seem to teach and even if she does you can't because of the billion pounds of information she throws at you.
JUST HORRIBLE... DOESN'T GIVE OUT STUDY GUIDES, MESSES UP ON ATTENDANCE, DOESN'T RESPOND TO EMAILS.... ALL SHE IS THERE FOR IS TO HAND OUT BAD GRADES TO STUDENTS WHO DON'T DESERVE THEM... SHE ALMOST MAKES ME WANT TO CHANGE MY MAJOR....
Professor Wynter very much knew her material that she taught but wasn't helpful to her students at all. Sometimes messed up attendance, Never responded to any of the e-mails I sent her, and her tests were kind of hard.
One of the worst teachers I have every had. Avoid with all costs!
This class was not hard, but it wasn't easy either. It's mostly just boring. All she does for 3 hours is read off a million slides like a robot. She's unorganized and doesn't seem interested in what she's teaching, very monotone and lazy. She doesn't elaborate much on anything. I can't really think of anything good I can say about this class.
Prof. Wynter's classes are extremely boring. She just reads from her power point. She gives hard quizzes, and the final is cumulative. She makes you memorize all of unimportant things, and they are all on the test. The final I took had all 16 chapters. Try to take this class with someone else, if you can avoid her!
It's not really "Media and Society" it's more "the Teachings of the Far Left and Society." You spend the semester reading articles written by communists/socialists/far left people. Kinda interesting but unexpected. She leans to the left herself like most professors (typical rants against Fox News, etc) but likable person. Engages the class.
Biggest issue I have is that she DOES NOT TEACH. Every class, she reads from a powerpoint which is often misspelled and has poor grammar. She speaks too fast for you to take notes decent enough to pass her detail-heavy quizzes. Also she forces you to buy a $60 book that she wrote. VERY BORING, publicly critical of students, unorganized & rude.
Had for 100 too. Powerpoint heavy, RIDICULOUSLY BOOK HEAVY. Expects you to read & understand near impossible advanced media theorist essays with no previous exposure. Worse, you must do summaries on theories BEFORE going over them in class. Read entire 500+ page book in semester. Only plus is that the material can be interesting. AVOID IF POSSIBLE.
Taking her now Class is sooo boring. I had to force my eyes to stay open, tons of homework and tons of reading, quizzes every week, and she lectures straight from these power points for hrs. Her test are kind of hard, and she makes attendance mandatory! She also grades you in participation. If theres someone else teaching then avoid her....
Wynter is the worst teacher in the department. Tons of reading, long droning lectures, mandatory attendance, essays, long tests. I have never met anyone who looked forward to her class. She only calls on her favorite students and won't respond seriously to sincere questions. She almost made me cry once. She also has an obvious political agenda.
She's not terrible, if you read the power point, you're fine. Don't buy the book, she doesn't use it, you'll just waste cash.
Class is really long which makes it hard to pay attention to a PowerPoint for 2 hours. Midterm & final have a study guide but on other quizzes your on your own. Homework's a drag but if you dont answer questions she wont remember you. Just remember if your trying to get in the major you need to at least get a C+ or you have to retake it her again!
She obviously knows a lot about what she's teaching but has absolutely NO clue on how to teach it. Horrible spelling, grammatically incomptetent and her use of vocabulary words are often incorrect. Her lectures conflict with her power point presentations and her study guides are ambiguous withanswers are dependent upon her own personal opinions.
WORST TEACHER EVER. Doesn't know how to teach or test. I definitely DO NOT recommend any of her classes. Her exams do not follow the book. The book is very unorganized as far as material goes. She goes too fast through the lectures so you cant take good notes.
She knows her stuff but she is awful at teaching it.I'd taken her once before for CTVA100 and that was nightmare. This time around it was slightly easier but she still reads off power-points and has favorites. Her term papers are useless. I did mine in one night and got a B.Don't take her if you don't need to.READ EVERYTHING if you do.
Worse teacher ever. She'll teach one thing and test for something different. I couldn't find much proof on the internet or at the library that supports her lectures. She never answered any of my emails. When I cornered her at her office hours, she was very dismissive. Her book is poorly edited and boring to read. She's not a professor. AVOID!
WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. doesn't care if you do good and her tests are nothing what she tells you they will be. impossible to study for. avoid her if you can by all costs.
Seriously one of the worst teachers on campus. Doesn't respond to emails, speeds through lectures, and doesn't enjoy teaching. Do not take this class. AVOID IT!!
The class isn't too bad. Lots of interaction from the students. Study guides are exactly like the tests, with a handful of questions you will just have to know the answer to. Class isn't fun exactly, but it isn't horrible either.
An assignment almost every week, upload link site does not work all the time, and the response to emails is uncanny. Now, the overall class time. Let's just say you will be smart and avoid coming, except for the quizzes and midterms. Wynter is sloppy, unprepared, and contradicts herself. Waste of money. Better teachers out there.
The book we use is very interesting but she isn't. I had her for 2hr45min and I coulnd't stand it. A few breaks during but I always wanted to leave. Can't leave because she'll randomly take attendance on some days. I wound NOT recommend this teacher. Also, she does not upload grades onto moodle and seldom replys to e-mails.
Enthusiastic but not very organized. Class is complex with essays, novel readings, summaries, reviews, scantron tests, etc. Bulk of grade is from two essays 1500-2500wrd/each. Exam questions deal heavily from novels, readings, and in-class screenings so you must stay on top of that. Do all assignments and keep attendance and you should be okay.
Prof. Wynter is a good teacher. She knows what she is talking about, and is very fair about grading. She however does have a tendency to leave the room, while having us watch a video and then not return. Her tests are easy enough, if you do the reading and pay attention.
Below average teacher that can't seem to control the loud freshman during lectures. Required text is a book she wrote that you can't get anywhere else either than website given by her. It costs $75 and she requires the latest edition that comes out each year. Book without any copyrighted images should not cost anywhere near that much!
Her lectures are terrible and drone on forever, she uses one she made that costs $75 with nowhere to buy it but her site. She occasionally plays videos but they suck and are incredibly boring. Assigns way too much homework for a 100 class, basically an essay almost every week 600-1000 word minimum (changes). tests were rough, but tiny curve. AVOID!
She is passionate w/theatre. However, she isn't considerate of the students who are not majoring in CTVA, but are taking course because of UGE requirements. Assigns homework and reading every week. Must read all twelve books/long stories on the list. Assignments are all turned in on moodle. Grades hard. Do not recommend if this is not your major!!
As long as you buy/study her book you'll be ok. The lectures sucked, all very boring and drawn out, very hard to sit through for 3 hours but attendance is mandatory. She curves the tests and drops the lowest score. Homework wasn't too bad, if you cant write 700 words a week you shouldn't be in college. I wouldn't take again unless I had to
she seems cool at first but the lectures are boring and she goes through everything fast so its hard to take notes (which will not be posted on moodle) her tests are long and so are the study guides. wouldnt reccomend unless you have an interest in media
I believe Professor Wynter was a great teacher. Her tests are somewhat difficult, but honestly if I had put an extra few hours of studying I know I could have aced every test. Homework is easy enough. Minimum of 800 words per paper. Attendance is mandatory (annoying) but I liked the people in my class. Other than all that, this class is easy enough
Prof is nice but the class is hard. Tough to sit thru a 3 hr lecture w/out falling asleep. "Quizzes" are 40 question tests about things that you least expect. Memorize everything that you read to the littlest detail to do good on tests. Pwpts do not help as she goes by it way too fast. It's impossible to take notes. Good luck, you'll need it .
This is probably the class that will make you hate film. This teacher clearly has no passion for it, and spreads it like a venom.
She's ok. I have learned new things in her class but sometimes it's a little slow. Many people leave after the break she gives around halfway through class. Take good notes on her power points because she breezes through them. The tests are pretty easy if you studied and refined the notes, if not you can manage a C. Do the EC for an A or B.
A lot of people say that she is horrible, but she really is a very nice and funny person. If you don't study well then you will not do well in the class. About every other week she gives a quiz that are about 40 questions long. Quizes and tests make up 88% of the grade so STUDY. There probably isn't any way to avoid taking her, but get the book.
This is a university course, not a community college class. The work load can be tough if you aren't organized or if you don't have good study habits. Start homework early, maybe even the week prior if you don't have good time management skills. If you read the books, write the summaries and study you'll get a B. I learned a lot. Good luck!
Do the extra credit, if I would have done it then I would have received an A. Tests are very important since they are worth 88% of your grade. She goes by the Power Points really fast so try to get as many notes as possible. Read the book because it does come in handy.
Just one of the many Professors over-qualified to merely teach-- super enthusiastic and knowledgeable, thought her class was really interesting. The work load is substantial but her insight is brilliant.
Read the book. I suggest taking notes while reading because the power points go by fast. She gives study guides for tests.
Professor Wynter runs an interesting class. Online book that is extremely confusing to navigate and understand, 60-80 slide power points that take the entire 2 hours and 45 minutes to run through. Only 5 homework assignments for the whole semester- each is a 600-700 word essay. Extra credit essays are offered as well. Takes roll every class
Took her for CTVA 309 Film as Lit. Shes not a bad professor, but reading one book a week is very difficult, especially something like Woolf or Dostoyevsky. Although, the quizzes and tests really aren't difficult and if you attend every class you'll do well.
Class is mostly filled up by the lecture, but since its a mass media class, videos are regularly shown. She answers questions during class and even a couple before tests and quizzes. No more than 4 quizzes and the midterm and final. There's a considerable amount to read, but they help during the tests. Most things are also on the PPT.
Wynter is awesome in that she is clearly knowledgeable on the subject, but that only seems to cause issues for the students. The questions are obscure on tests and they are a huge portion of the final grade. The class was fairly enjoyable but a ridiculous amount of work for a 100 level class (but maybe it is because I am not a CTVA major).
I've taken Professor Wynter twice before because she's a CTVA professor and I'm a CTVA major. She really knows her stuff and she's usually somewhat fun, although her lectures can be very long and dry and she assigns both a lot of writingreading and can be a rough grader.
WOW, this class was the struggle. It was a 3 hr long class and she lectures the whole time. She gives "quizzes" that are 40 questions long. She gives somewhat of a study guide for midterm and final (a long list of words). The tests were hard.
I'm actually not sure if there is a text book, but you have to read a good amount of novels. By this I mean for about 9 weeks back to back you have to finish 8 novels and all of these books are on her tests. I did poorly on her tests, did none of the extra credit, but I did well on the term paper which is 50% of your grade and did the homework.
The lectures are long, but interesting. You can tell she's super knowledgable about the subject and is really engaging in class. Her grading is strange, the tests are 88% of your entire grade. I think she's great, but her study guides are trash and aren't helpful. I'm an honor student and struggled the entire semester. Make sure to read material.
Professor Wynter is a very nice woman who clearly knows what she is talking about. That being said, some people just aren't meant to teach. The two and a half hour class is mind numbing and the assignments aren't clear. Her tests are near impossible. I studied over 200 terms for the final and of the 80 questions, about ten had to do with the terms.
Lectures are long and boring and she goes through the slide so fast you barely have time to copy anything down. Tests are ridiculously hard since she gives you a 200 term study guide with less than 12 of those terms being on the actual test. Would not recommend, avoid her if you can!
So, so dull. I could barely stand to stay in class, it was painful. She knows what she teaches and seems nice enough, but she is not meant to be teaching. She tried spicing it up, but fell back to her boring slides and endless lectures. Tests are hard and you'll have to study everything because she isn't clear about what it will be on them. Avoid.
She's super cool and down to earth, I passed with out a problem even though my paper exams weren't the best. Attendance is a must though and she don't like tardiness.
Great directing class, focussed on use of aesthetics; included an exciting lab on stunt choreography with guest stuntmen. Her lecture on directing actors included an acting exercise we all had to do. Some of us who NEVER acted before were crying real tears in our monologues. It was powerful.
While her lectures can be tough to get through and they're outdated, she is incredibly smart and personable. Study and pay attention and the quizzes aren't that bad, homework is so easy it's a joke. It's not an easy class but not a difficult one either.
She has a really cool personality and the class was EZ. pretty straightforward.. Just do the homework, group presentation ,midterm and final. And make sure you show up. Favorite class this semester!
Heavy media theories on how to analyze different types of content. Got to dissect different media "texts" each week, like the Simpsons, music videos, sitcoms, Dark Knight trailers, terror propaganda videos, print ads. Final group presentations were scary, but stuff looked polished, like we knew what we're doing and talking about.
She's an excellent professor who really knows her stuff. She is a hard grader though and you have to, absolutely have to, read the textbook otherwise you're not going to pass. She's very lecture orientated but she's also very lenient and understanding. She's tough but I'd take her again.
Despite being rough around the edges, Professor Wynter is passionate about film and media. If you have come to college to learn she will make you work as hard as she can without being overwhelming. Her lectures can be long but she really tries to be lively and communicate well. She is not recommended for anyone searching for an easy A.
Professor Wynter was amazing to take. Her lectures were fun to listen to. The biggest challenge for me was the 2500 word research paper she assigns at the end of the semester.
Professor Wynter makes it is easy to remember her lectures with her enthusiasm and charismatic personality! Her class was really insightful and it ended up being one of my favorite classes I have taken at CSUN! Amazing teacher!
Professor Wynter is highly qualified given she went to Princeton and AFI. She knows the industry. She truly cares about her students and you can see by her facial expressions that she loves teaching. It is very easy to fall behind in this class. Like most arts classes there is a lot of reading and writing. Overall, she's kind and patient. Take her
I won't say that I did not learn the art of film adaptation from her because I did. I learned a lot. However, her quizzes and assignments seemed very unorganized. She sometimes words things that could make it appear like a trick question. She doesn't give a lot of feedback either which is a bit frustrating.
Prof. Wynter really cares about her students. The lectures are fun when people participate but 3/4 of the class don't read the material so it's mostly just her talking and screenings. You don't need to thoroughly read the materials to pass. Just know your terms, watch the movies, read a synopsis and you'll do fine. BUT START THE TERM PAPER EARLY!!
She's obviously very knowledgeable in what she's teaching, but not so great at actually teaching it. Class is 45min to hr lecture, followed by a movie. Then you have 2 days to take an online quiz. The problem is that she goes too fast on the lecture, and everything she says can be found in the textbook, which is a must. Also technologically inept.
This class was fun! Professor does a lecture for 30-45 mins. and then you get to watch a movie the rest of the time! Attendance is mandatory, she signs you in at the END of class. Weekly quizzes online, 2 essays, and a final exam online. Advice: You need to actually TRY if you want to pass with a good grade (A/B grade).
She assigned the play Real Women Have Curves. We was chef day he may cue and she brought the Producer to class! The producer mentioned a production of the play. And Prof. Wynter asked if wed let he to see it. She chartered a bus and took twenty of us to the Gary Mashsll Theatre in Burbank!! Awesome!!
Her class was super easy. Each day was a 45 lecture followed by a 2 hour movie. You can tell she is very passionate and knowledgable about movies. Her quizzes and tests were ALL online, and all the questions came straight from the textbook (easy read). She is a tough essay grader so make sure to proof-it with her early, before turning it in.
Professor Wynter is very passionate about what she teaches but isnt able to clearly express it in front of others. She just reads off of the PowerPoints. After each movie you watch you take quizzes which are extremely easy. Attendance is mandatory since its part of your grade. She is always late to open her doors so be prepared to wait outside.
This class is an easy A. Participation grade is important. The weekly quizzes and final exam are online and its super easy to find the answers in the textbook and such. Extra credit is super helpful and will actually bring up your grade.
Easy A. Graded on weekly quizzes, final, and 2 film analysis essays. Essays are easy if you use the lecture notes. Answers for quizzes and final are online and extra credit is offered. Attendance does not count. Dont buy the book. it is a 45 minute lecture followed by a movie. She is always late so you might have to wait outside for 15-30 minutes.
I had her previously in a CTVA 210 and wasn't as happy with her teaching, but she's definitely improved in the upper division. First half focuses on one director, which changes each semester (mine was Frank Capra). Second half is classic foreign films. 3000 word paper + 500 words every week on each movie watched in class. No midterm, yes final.
Prof. Wynter is very knowledgeable about film, and her classes involve a short lecture and then a movie. The quizzes are easy if you read the material. There are a few writing assignments, and she's easy to follow. The only thing is she doesn't really give feedback and doesn't respond to emails. Recommend for getting a course out of the way.
I was painfully disappointed by Professor Wynter. She was inconsistent with releasing/unlocking assignments on time (not consistent with the syllabus) students had to remind her, so be sure to stay on top of canvas! Slow to grade assignments, and does not allow grade percentage to be viewed on canvas for whatever reason.
Professor Wynter actually cares about her students. The class was a heavy workload with a lot of readings every week a few discussion assignments midterm/final exam and final paper but if you are like me and feel comfortable going to her office hours in person or on zoom she is EXTREMELY helpful. If you miss class watch the movie and you'll be fine
She does not stick to the syllabus at all, she takes forever to grade assignments, and she hardly ever responds to emails or messages on canvas. You'll feel blindsided multiple times in this course, it's always her fault for not updating canvas properly, or changing up how much she wants a word count to be last minute.
She really means well, and is really nice. You actually learn in this class, and watch cool movies. Just show up and turn in all your assignments and you'll be all good.
Takes weeks to grade assignments, rushes through lecture clips, constantly interjecting with anecdotes, inconsistent grading, no rubric provided, Canvas looks awful and is disorganized, no clear communication with class, lectures are extremely stale, not even water is allowed in her clas, doesn't even provide feedback half the time
This is an atrociously disorganized and frustrating professor. With the exception of one in the beginning of the semester, she has flat out ignored all of my emails. She does not give clear instructions for assignments at all, and what instructions you do get from her is contradictory or nonsensical. She is a hard grader that gives little info.
Worst professor I ever had! Multiple students went to her boss and complained. She never respond to emails, gives very vague feedback yet is a HARSH grader, and refuses to help students when they come to her. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!!!
She did not respect our time by repeatedly dropping assignment's right before a due date, didn't show up to a class with no warning, and was not clear on when she wanted books read by. The midterm and final felt slapped together and were often asking inane questions about 'who played X character' or what was the last line of the film'. Frustrating.
This woman is very disorganized. She will assign homework at random dates throughout the week and expect it to be done by the next class period. She also doesn't respond to emails and gives little to no criteria on grading. Her Canvas page is also a mess, making it difficult to see what's due. Literally take anyone else.
I was writing my first "documented research paper." She was really helpful when I went to her office hours. Helped me organize my paper and was supportive of the movie I chose to write on.
The class can be disorganized, but Professor Wynter is passionate about the subject. Attend lectures, use study aids like unstuck study, and engage during office hours for the best experience. Overall, it's a challenging yet rewarding course.
I took ctva 309 with Prof Wynter last year. She's really smart and kind. She brought guest speakers from the industry, a Disney director gave us an preview of his animated feature, and a panel of Paramount execs. This semester she did a film series on Bunuel. She'd explain surrealism and film theories but it was still relatable. Her Q &As were fun

I took Wynter for CTVA210 & she was fine. Not for me but she knows what she's talking about but never gives original thought in lectures, which were super long w/ almost no breaks. She is also arrogant & pretentious. The class is entirely textbook which left little room for creativity. Exams will make or break your grade. Wouldn't take her again.
This professor is knowledgeable but could improve organization. Tests felt like movie trivia, not concept-based. The textbook is essential at all times. The midterm was disorganized, and class rules (like sitting through credits) were odd. Despite flaws, I learned a lot about film and its core concepts. P.S. she can see if you cheat on her quizzes.
