She is very nice teacher. Will help you a lot making sure that you understand the subject. She is very rude and sarcastic in class. She is not EXTREMELY knowledgable. Sometime she gets stuck in answering questions. A- overall.
She's very energetic. She teaches the basics of chemistry with lectures notes that is very understandable. She's non intimidating and fun
In Organic chemistry shes pretty intense. Work hard and you can do okay. She can be sarcastic and rude when answering questions during lec, but if you approach her in private shes pretty patient. Her notes are clear and easy to follow during lecture.
I like Ms. Bennet. she is not the easiest teacher in the school but she sis one of the most approchable. she is very nice and she will help you understand anything. Her notes are great and her teaching stile is very clear.
Her class is like a Harry Potter setting.
What a headcase..Weird woman.. A bone to pick about everything.. Smart though..But damned witchy! She has a her favorites.. Someone said she was great...Must have been one of those cheesy favorites of hers.. Ringing Cell phones sets her off like a bomb..
Hard class, will prove that she's right till the very end. Lectures are alrite but it can put you to sleep. She kinda looks like a witch. Remember to turn any electronic devices off because first she'll take points away and second she will go off on you like a lion on meat.
Very enthusiastic about teaching, shows concern for students education and is very helpful!
Dr. Bennett rocks! Didn't think I could actually know chemistry until I went through the class. Although she expects a lot, you definitely get out of it what you put into it. If you work diligently, there is NO reason you can't get an A. And righly so: leave your cell phones OFF! :-)
DR.BENNETT MAKES CHEMISTRY EASY!!!
for not knowing much about chemistry, she really made it clear, fun, and easy to understand. lectures are key to succeed in her class with a good grade so don't miss it!
She's cool sometimes. Can be intimidating to approach and ask questions. She can disappear on you during lab esp when you have a question. Over all, lots of studying and hard work will make her class seem easy.
SHE'S A PAIN. KNOCKS OFF POINTS ON EVERY LITTLE THING...
She is a fun teacher. Her notes are very clear (a required book are her notes, that you add to during lec.). Any questions asked during lec tend to be answered rudely and sarcasticly, but outside of class, in lab and during the 1 unit "extra" class she is EXTREMELY helpful, nice and funny. Overall a good teacher!
A good professor. Chem is not easy but, she does what she can to help. Bennett gets graded work back to students prompmtly. She has mood swings, and can often respond rudely to even the best students...So I guess don't take it personally...
She just pretends to be nice outside but actually a mean person. She is picky on little things, not just on the quizes or exams. She definitely knows her way to keep other people shut, so don't ask on the lectures.
She strikes fear in the heart of me, but I like her anyway. Great lectures. Great notes.
SHE'S EXTREMELY MEAN AND RUDE. I DID NOT LIKE HER AT ALL.
got phd from uc berkl.dr bennet is crazy. she will hurt your feeling, break your heart. if you are a chem eng major, do not avoid her class.
She does her best to clearly explain the subject material. She gets lazy towards the end of the semester and is sarcastic sometimes. Don't ask questions that should already be known going into the class and she won't give you a hard time.
I failed 3 of the 3 lecture exams, but I scored in the 81st percentile on the national-wide ACS exam... She teaches ochem. As far as the claims of nepotism go, she's toned it down a bit. Like most teachers, it's expected for her to exhibit frustration at the inquiry of chem 1a questions. She has an awesome personality when you get to know her.
She has moodswings sometimes and lashes out at the students if you ask questions about the assignments.
Mrs. B is a nice teacher, but if you want to ask question ask before, during break or after class. Her labs are so freakin easy and she likes to bang on the walls.lol. but overall her clarity in lecture is very well done. ..DON'T BUY THE BECAUSE you'll never USE IT!!
shows strong dedication to the subject, but not to her students. office hours were useless because she would make it even harder on you. has lecture notes. exams were confusing. its one of those where you have to pick the most correct answer. class is very detailed. has a major presentation.
Dr.B, knows her stuff and her lectures are very clear to understand. She's willing to help and is very approachable during office hours.Don't expect to half ass in her class, because she doesn't put up with it. So if you wanna learn and are willing to work hard and you are going into the nursing field then take her...
i love prof bennett. her lectures are really interesting. weekly quizzes with extra credit opps available on each of them.dont buy the book, never even opened it. labs are very easy, i dont think she checks them. owl hwk takes a while though.make an effort and you'll do well. class is very easy and straight forward. take her!
Easy, funny, lots of EC. Walks you through the fundamental steps of chemistry & you do it along with her during lecture. You print out the notes and you fill in the blanks/do problems with her. Save ink & paper by shrinking the pages to fit 4 on 1 paper and do it front and back. Only used textbook for hw, but can be good source for additional help.
She posts lecture outlines, it may seem easy but it's difficult. Not a nice person, but she knows Organic Chemistry. She is brutally honest and it shows if she doesn't like you. Your time investment will not pay off.She will count every 1/2 point/1 point off for wrong answers, it adds up and will hurt you. Try a different prof.
She gives you all the materials you need to succeed. She prepares you very well, an A is DEFINITELY attainable. She's not as moody as the other raters have said, she has improved. We've had 4 cellphones go off during class and she laugh each time; she's better but she still has her moments. I chose her over 3 other O chem Profs, I'm very satisfied.
The most uncaring teacher I ever had!!She doesnt care about her students at all, she is only nice to her A students. She has mood swings from hell.
She doesnt like to answer Questions during class which I dont understand how are you supposed pass, the class without asking questions?? Her test are very hard to answer she is basically making you a chemist.Dont take her, if you have that option.
She is not a nice teacher!!!! Be scared to ask her question because she will make you look stupid in front of the class.
She knows O Chem and her lectures are helpful. However, it seems as though she only knows how to answer a question one way. If you need further explanation she sometimes refuses to answer because she caimed there is not enough time for this basic info.I never asked a question because I was scared she would get upset. Very moody and snappy.
She's really bad, don't take her class anyway. No matter how hard you work, she just doesn't care. Totally no patience to answer your questions. To be honest, she's so mean, and her personalities are not in good taste at all.
like all of the others students, she is rude and uncaring, mean, and only cater to those who are passing. i hope that soon she will retire cause there is no fun in her teachering anymore. i believe that when teachers only cater to certain students then there is a serious problem going on inside that she may need deeper help cause she don't care.
Dr. Bennett's explanations aren't always clear and she can be condescending but she really does want you to succeed and will work with you if you put forth the effort! Take advantage of the resources available (i.e Chem 317 course, Beacon tutor) and you'll do well (I got an A). She treats you as an adult and won't coddle you. Overall, I liked her.
She was not only tried to help us as much as possible, She also taught me some tips on the final exam that was great and helpful, I enjoyed her class.
Professor Bennett was a great teacher! I recommend taking her during summer. She's not as hard as others have described her here, and her class IS definitely passable!
She was an awesome teacher. Lectures were vey helpful and she explained the book in an easy to understand kind of way. Lots of quizzes to keep you on your toes with tons of optional extra credit!
Hard class but great professor. I love the lecture outline that is available to print off prior to lecture. Do the work and you WILL pass.
She's a great teacher. she can be a little mean and straightforward but only if you ask repetitive questions that she already talked about or answered. Only needed the book for homework. other than that, she gives you great lecture notes. Tends to rush through the last chapters at the end of the semester due to insufficient time.
Dr. Bennett is awesome. As long as you attend lecture, and do the homework, you will pass. She does get irritated by repetitive questions...but so do I. And for the love of God, turn your cell phones on silent before lecture.
research project is at the worst time of the class. got so occupied with the project that i barely had anytime to study for the final tests in the class. also the online homework is tedious and not encouraging at all. better off doing good ol' bookwork.
Dr Bennett is an awesome teacher and as long as you attend her lectures and pay attention you should be able to pass no problem.
Dr Bennett is unclear, at times disrespectful, and does not like to waste her precious time to help you, especially if you ask for help during lecture (which, I advise you right now, don't do it or you will regret it...) She is passionate about Chemistry and that makes her lectures interesting, but she is just one of those pompous academics.
very hard class. a quiz every week, textbook & online homework, 1 team project & a cummulative final. shes crazy! theres so much material throughout her course she ended up scheduling our last exam on wed & our final the following monday. prepare to have no life if you plan to sign up for her class. & yes she is a rude b-word!
very hard class. a quiz every week, textbook & online homework, 1 team project & a cummulative final. shes crazy! theres so much material throughout her course she ended up scheduling our last exam on wed & our final the following monday. prepare to have no life if you plan to sign up for her class. & yes she is a rude b-word!
If you want to take her for Organic Chemistry, she is a great teacher. I'd warn people taking her for CHEM 305 that she probably isn't going to be your type. Bennett provides great lecture outlines for you to track through with her on the projector and are great study tools. She tests according to her lecture notes and prepares you for university.
Do the work and you get the grade. She clear about what she expects, and as long as you pay attention in class you should have no problem
Great professor! Surprised at some of these comments; they are not accurate. Helpful and concise in lecture. Do your work and earn your A.
Dr Bennett offered a challenging chemistry class. She presented in a straightforward manner that explains chem in laymans terms. But you walked away understanding dosages and nuclear fission. Highly recommend.
Dr. Bennett delivers a very well-structured and challenging Chemistry course. Stay on top of the formidable amount of studying, and you'll make it.
This course was difficult mainly because chemistry is boring and TONS of homework, but Bennett makes herself very available to students. Very nice professor....however, I still wouldn't recommend taking her.
I took her over this summer. I think she is well organized and by printing out the lectures really had me stayed focused. Just do the homework and you will get a good grade.
Above Average
I took her class over the summer. It was pretty fast paced with a quiz nearly every day. She did a great job teaching the material. Lab portion was ridiculously easy!
Just took this class in the Fall. It is not an easy class, but what chem class is? Her instruction is incredible- organized, VERY clear, and extremely helpful. I got an A because I went to class every day, went over my notes after each lecture and worked REALLY hard.
She is an awesome professor. Gives you all the necessary tools to pass the class. You need to use them effectively. It is by no means an easy class but with a lot of studying an A is definitely doable. If you can't pass her class then either school isn't for you or you were lazy and got behind in the class. YOU MUST KEEP UP. Very clear notes.
BEST SCIENCE TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD!!! She is VERY clear in her explanations, and is happy to explain something different ways if you don't understand it. Attendance is mandatory and there is A LOT of work required for this class, but you will really understand the material at the end.
She was very clear on what was expected, and encouraged us to study hard, and gave bonus labs/quizzes. She said numerous times that it was a lot of information, but if we did everything that was expected we would do ok. I did everything and I got an A. My lab partner did not, she failed. It's not a mystery why... I really liked Dr, Bennett though!
She is an exceptional teacher that is very clear about what she expects from her students. She spends a significant amount of time creating videos and handouts to help her students. Key to success do the work and you'll be fine. Don't and you will fail.
She was dam hard and if you had question she would never clarify. I hated her class with a passion
I took her over one summer for chem300 got a B. Really clear on wut we need to do.Not a bad professor although I didn't talk to her much.
O chem is hard. period. you have to stay up on the material and master it over the weekends. Dr Bennett knows her stuff, but can be intimidating. Go to her office hours for questions. she's very friendly and helpful outside of lecture.
AWFUL, RUDE, FULL OF ATTITUDE, TREATS HER STUDENTS LIKE ELEMENTARY KIDS, NO LECTURE, AND SHE MAKES YOU HATE THE CLASS! I can repeat the same things over and over again and it won't be enough. If you are a strong person with a strong voice then take care because you will need/have to confront her every now and then about her rudeness and attitude...
Do not take this class if you have a demanding schedule with work and school. She is an extremely hard test-giver although Ochem is still a hard subject with any teacher. You need at least an extra 15 hours outside of class time per week to do well. If you have a weak personality or are timid this is not the teacher for you. She can be intimidating
Dr Bennet, is clear on what she wants. She switched up the way she taught chemistry by lecturing outside of class and class activity during. IT HELPED SO MUCH, DID BETTER THAN I THOUGHT. and if you go see her she will go out of her way to help you! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE NOT DEDICATED
Chem 309 is not an easy class, but Dr.Bennett tried every possible thing to help her students succeed (Video tutorials, notes, online hw, in-class packets, supplemental hw, and quizzes). She did her job, now you do yours. It took me almost 40 hours of studying weekly to get a B in her class, so if you're a slow learner, maximize your hours.
She is absolutely amazing! I'm taking her right now and she is honestly the greatest. She is extremely smart and she really tries and make sure that you understand the material through great lectures and hw&extra handouts. If she doesn't inspire you to be better in chemistry, I don't know who would. SHE IS THE BEST <3 LOVE HER and her sassiness
I took her class because from reading her ratings it was mostly positive so I tried her class. She is the worse chem prof ever. She hands out thick packets EVERYDAY and leaves you to do it. She doesn't lecture in class but she expects us to watch her 3-4 hours of lecture at our own time. She gives too many assignments and packets it's overwhelming
Dr. Bennett is awesome. You have to work though, she has you watch her lectures online (about thirty minutes-an hour before every class session) and then in class you do group work and she runs around helping everyone. If you try and you study you will pass. She is more than willing to help you if you ask.
Dr. Bennett is awesome. Great teacher who really cares about her students. An A is attainable through hard work and dedication to the material. Her lecture notes are golden. Frame them, because they have all the answers. Labs were enjoyable and procedures are crystal clear. Take her if you want to KNOW O-chem.
RUDE, MEAN, HORRIBLE, AND SARCASTIC. EVERYTHING WAS SELF TAUGHT AND WAS GIVEN PACKETS AND LECTURES TO WATCH AT HOME.
She's super sarcastic and makes you feel stupid for asking questions... Worst teacher I ever had
This class isn't fun. I suggest you do the following to pass her class: buy the chem book, read each chapter before classdo the homework ahead of time, watch her lecture videostake notes, go to classdo the activities, correct all assignments. FYI WARNING, there is such a thing as a stupid question in her class so be aware of that before asking.
Do it yourself class. Definitely buy the textbook. Her lecture videos and activities are not enough to fully understand the material because they give you spotty info. Reading the book will give you the foundation for understanding. She makes mistakes on her multiple choice tests too so always double check the answers. Lots of extra credit.
Her class is meant to prepare you for careers in the medical field. so her class is not easy but if you watch the video notes, read the text, do the in class packets, and do your homework; her class is passable. she very frank, but she lets you know what to expect and if you pay attention you will not be caught off guard.
She is tough, the homework is tough, and the class is tough. I was a terrible Chem student in high school, but she got me to love Chem. This isn't an easy class, but I really enjoyed her teaching style, just understand that there is a lot of homework, but she will help you if you are stuck.
I like getting homework I feel it helps to reinforce your understanding. This professor goes overboard. You are so busy doing homework and assignments you have no time to actually study the material. She also is very rude and sarcastic when asked for help. I avoided her like the plague because of this. No one deserves to be talked down to.
Really amazing class but horrible professor. I am a health major and found the material incredibly interesting but the professor ruined the class. She encouraged in class questions but shamed students if they didn't understand concepts. She's proud of the fact that people fail her class, and doesn't care about students and enjoys embarrassing them
Ultimately a very rude professor, unhelpful in many aspects and even encouraged those who were struggling to fail and retake the class rather than help them. Think twice before taking her classes, I would not recommend this professor.
Her lectures are tough, there is a lot of homework, and a huge load of material covered. However, her grading criteria are very clear, and she is extremely helpful. Although she can be sarcastic, overall her teaching style will help you get through the toughest concepts. I loved her class, and really feel like I learned a lot. Would recommend her.
OMG!! What can I say about Dr. Bennett, she is AMAZING. Be prepared for your brain to run a marathon. If you want an easy A, please don't waste her time. Her class is truly LIFE CHANGING. She is an amazing person on so many different levels. If you want to be the best in the profession you are going into take Dr. Bennett, she ROCKS!!
Dr. Bennett is amazing. She puts so much time and effort into this class so you can really understand the material. Only take this class if you have the time to really watch the lectures and do the homework. It shows if you do not come to class prepared. I read the textbook because I like to have a thorough understanding on top of lecture.
Dr. Bennett gives every opportunity to help her students succeed. She is very passionate about teaching.
Chemistry is no easy subject. Be prepared to study hard, I recommend by the text book for extra reading to understand the subject. Amazing professor, she knows her subject very well. This is a fast pace class so missing classes wont help. She uses a flip format for this class and its very useful. Notes taking very important most will come in Exams.
It's hybrid. TONS of HW so be ready. By the end if you stuck in, you'll have 3 binders filled with material, not including lab. She can get sassy, if you're taking her I would say not with another hard class. You have to be physically &mentally ready for this class and her. She's pretty hardcore, but DO HW!! Get conversions &IONS REMEBERED Befo!!
Extremely blunt and unhelpful. You will need 6 binders to keep up with all the unnecessary paperwork she gives you. This class is like high school, all she does is give you busy work. Over half of the class dropped because of her personality. NO cell phones, she treats college students like 10yr olds. Get ready for the 13th grade. Take else where!
Horrible flipped format teaching method. Does get sassy if asking a question she already answered or if you don't understand. TAKE WITH ANOTHER TEACHER OR DONT TAKE IT!!!!
Bennett is a bit sassy do not take it heart! There is a lot of work!! Never miss a class watch every video lecture and finish all the homework! Making study groups is very helpful she also gives practice online quizzes DO THEM! She wants you to understand Chem so use all the resources to understand this class takes up all your time so be prepared
She's usually a really cool, nice person but some days she gets sassy and make you feel bad for not getting something. This class is challenging and a lot of work but she offers a lot of resources to go back and study. Study the practice quizzes! She puts answer keys for hw's which is neat. Textbook is free online.
if you can take the class with another teacher and take the seperate option of the class split into two. She has a flipped class where you watch videos at home which is basically just her filling out a worksheet and then you come to class work in a small group. Not even mad I got a C I worked my butt off and there was nothing more I could do
If you want a teacher to actually teach you then do NOT take this class. She has previously recorded videos as her "lectures" then makes you resort to group work for "in class work". If you want to ask her a question she can help but be ready to get behind 50 other students in class with questions too. I learned more from students in my group.
Content heavy class doable if you apply your self
This teacher will belittle you in front of the entire class! Take another class at all possible if you can! She is probably the reason for deforestation with the amount of papers she hands out.
She is a GREAT teacher. You can tell she really loves her job and that makes the class a lot better. But make sure you pay attention and don't talk and especially do not go on your phone during class. She takes that very seriously. She is easy approachable and she likes it when students ask for help! she's really not that intimidating as she seems
The hardest chemistry class I have ever taken. She is demanding and all her lectures are online. The class is very impersonal and she does not like to work with her students. Chemistry is already hard and her teaching style is very selective.I genuinely recommend you consider taking this class only as a last resort for your chemistry requirement
Although this course includes 1/2 hr online lecture before class, a lotta HW, & study @ least 2-4 hrs on fundamental concepts & vocabulary by yourself or with a partner, it is doable as long as you stay motivated, and headstrong. Yes, she does have her flaws, but she is caring, open and willfully helpful as long as you are motivated in this class.
Stay motivated, ask questions, do the work, & study. If not, then u're unlikely to succeed. If u're an allied health student who is dedicated & motivated, you should take this course as it cuts down 2 sem worth of chem into 1. It'll be a hard fight to the top, but if u apply urself (like most classes), u'll feel like a million bucks! Best wishes!
Took her for Chem 309 and I really liked her teaching approach. All of her lectures were online with fill-in the blanks, and in class we came in and went through a packets as small groups based on the lectures. That really helped me solidify the material. She gives you a clear system to organize your studying, b/c class is very content heavy.
Took Chem 309 from her and really enjoyed the class. I actually really enjoyed being able to watch her lectures on my own time and be able to have lecture class for practice and answering questions I had. Labs were pretty simple and basic but still entertaining. She is not a hard teacher, in mind that this is not an entry level chemistry course.
Chem 309 was hands down the hardest class I have taken to date. Dr. Bennet does a phenomenal job in organizing the class and
Dr. Bennett is hands down one of the best. Pay close attention, study hard, ask questions, and DON'T use your phone in class. Hit the material hard and stay on the grind. WATCH the videos and LEARN the ions. She cares and wants you to succeed. She has a sass factor, which is hilarious to watch. In short, she's amazing. I'd take her again in a
Not an easy class, Bennett is very up front about that. Seems like an overwhelming amount of work, but staying on top of lectures as they come is very doable if you commit the time and effort (literally: set aside 2-4 hrs per wk to ACTIVELY watch the video lectures). Students who aren't self-directed/used to doing the minimum will have a hard time.
309 is a hybrid class meaning: lecturing portion is ONLINE (unscheduled via Youtube or Mediac3), mandatory meet during lecture hours where you will do IN CLASS HOMEWORK with a group of 3-4 people. Lab is pretty simple, easier labs then A&P and Micro. No lab exams, but there is a lab portfolio. A LOT OF HW/QUIZZES! 1 quiz per class. Goodluck.
ALOTTTTTTT of hw and during class you will work in groups! INCH, take home quizzes, supplemental hw, txtbook chapter hw, basic knowledge quizzes every class, online quizzes that must be completed, prelabs. FINALS... 3 separate packets with 3 different scantrons (35-45Q) of accumulative info to finish in 2 hrs. Stay on top of everythning. STUDY!
She is very sassy. If you can handle her up and down moods you will be fine. She teaches in a reverse format where you watch her lecture at home and do work packets in class with a group. She is always available during office hours to help. I would take her again because she was very helpful to me.
Chem309 was the hardest class I've ever taken, but I'm glad I took it with Prof bennett. She can be very sassy but just push that to the side and focus on your work and grade. Participate, pay close attention, get help, and choose a good group during the lecture when doing the INCH and you shall pass. good luck. you'll need it.
This is by far the most challenging class I have taken. I am generally an A student, but worked my butt off for a B. Be sure that you're confidant in your algebra skills and keep on top of the work. If you fall behind, its extremely difficult to get caught up as she teaches in a flipped format. I wish there had been more time to cover the biochem.
Chem is a tough class no matter who teaches the course. Dr B really tries to help us understand the content, but this is not the type of class you study the night before the test. You are given numerous opportunities to make up work, take extra credit and then some more. Dr B expects the respect and work of an adult, nothing less. Don't miss lab!
This professor is ridiculous! She gives you a horrendous amount of work! All she does in class is make you work in groups and the lectures are to be watched at home. Aside from watching her three hour lecture vids, she assigns hw, hw quizzes, etc. She makes her students work as if we don't have a life to live outside of class..
The amount of sass this professor has Is outrageous. If you end up on her bad side, she will seriously embarrass you in front of the class as if you did her so wrong. She is so demanding to where she mostly wants you to do what she says. No phones allowed to, not even for 1 second. You get a violation and it's part of your grade. Class is hard.
STOP, do not take this professor. Worst professor I've ever taken throughout my college career. Her exams are hard. She gives you a great amount of paper for no reason and she never lectures. The class is a joke. She will also hurt your feelings. I HAVE A 3 INCH BINDER filled with all her irrelevant handouts. DON'T BOTHER!!!!!!
Dr. B isn't rude. Intimidating? One must learn to adjust to different personalities in life/workplaces so? She does not like wasted time with questions like 1) irrelevant look-what-I-know types or 2) things you should seriously know. I feel that she is truly preparing students on correct lecture behavior for University. Her lectures = masterpieces.
