She made the class very interesting and I think she knows what she's talking about. She tests over what she lectures. Take notes and look over study guides before tests and you'll be fine. The only problem is that she doesn't give back tests/papers in a timely fashion.
Diane is awesome! Great teacher, her lectures are the best i have ever had. Hands out multiple study guides to help guide you on your tests. Am taking her again for another class. Loved it!
Made history interesting for me. I recommended her.
I had her for History 121 and History 134. She is an awesome teacher.just attend lectures and do the reading she requires for the test and you will be fine. She is a great teacher and the test arn't bad at all she makes sure you're clear on what she wants.
I used to hate history and thought it was poiintless and a bunch of dates just thrown out there..but she made me somewhat like it and find it interesting. She is very intelligent and her tests are pretty easy..take notes and you should do fine on the tests. she is also very humourous..I really liked her as a teacher..very fun.
Taken Diane a couple times, if you do not take her you are missing out on a great teacher! She is great!
Great teacher, a little monotone, but overall a great teacher, would recommend!!
She is amazing, very intelligent, highly educated and well spoken. I had very little interest in history prior to her class and am now very interested! She is personable, down to earth and kind. She has a sense of humor and a teaching style that will keep you interested and engaged. Her tests are straight forward, you know what to expect.
Nice and extremely helpful. I have taken every class she has offered and I have not received anything lower than an A. Plus she is good-looking in my opinion :)
Mrs. Sager is very knowledgeable, and knows her history! Make sure you do the study guides she provides, and READ YOUR DOCUMENTS! You have 4 Tests, and one Analytical Essay. I recommend this teacher to anyone that hasn't taken history. She's down to earth, and very nice. She's straightforward on her lectures. Take good notes!
Excellent teacher. I was spoiled by another amazing history professor for 121 but was very happy with her too. She's got a good sense of humor and makes her lectures interesting. Tests are fair and shes gives a good study guide. Non comprehensive final. I loved this class. And if you like history then take Hist 134 as well.
She is tough. Gives no assignments, grade is based on test. Tests are tough.
I have taken her a couple of different times! I love how her class is all lecture, and I thought she made the lectures interesting.. I hate history but I didnt mind going to her class. Her class grade is 100% off test, and the test are 98% over lecture, so if you like to skip class I would not take her.
Very interesting and inspiring. She loves what she's teaching and it shows. She doesnt waste time with BS assignments or hmwk. Everyday she'll teach you many things you didnt know. Tests are challenging but not if you pay attention. Worth it!
I didn't like this class a bit, however she is really funny and nice, lazy when it comes to grading the tests, she will take a whole week. Overall if you study it's possible to achieve an A. I would recommend her
She is extremely helpful, and her lectures are always interesting. She is very intelligent, but if you want an A, you have to read the text and attend class. If you don't read, you'll get a B. Miss a lot of classes, F.
Don't miss class, take good notes, study hard, and you will get an A. She is a fun lecturer, and isn't to hard on the eyes either. Great history professor.
Loved this teacher. If you study the lecture and read the book you will do great. Her lectures are very interesting and I have never taken a history class I liked so much. AWESOME teacher
I've taken Sager three times now and she is absolutely amazing!! Take notes, lots of notes, whatever she writes on the board, KNOW IT! Read the documents. Tests are easy if you study the notes. Best professor i have had so far!
History is my worst subject, & Sager actually made it interesting because she tells it like a story instead of listing off boring facts. Best teacher ever!
easy class. pay attention and take good notes and go to class every day.
Awesome teacher. Didn't read the book because I took great notes. Easy to follow and keeps your attention the entire time. I wish I could take more of her courses
She is amazing! I will have to say I love history, but she still makes her lectures very interesting and is such a great help! I would definately recommend her! :)
Ms. Sager is... well, kind of insane to be honest. But she is an insanely good teacher. Her lectures are incredible. Do NOT miss any classes though. Seriously. That is your key to success. And read the chapters before the night before the test, you will need to. It's a difficult class, but it's worth it.
I owe her one. She is a great teacher. Her lectures are clear and she really knows her stuff. If you attend class and pay attention, you should do fine.
History with Ms. Sager is like sitting down for storytime! She really makes history interesting and easy to learn. Definitley recommend her for all your history needs!
I took two of her classes and I really liked them. She only takes attendance at the beginning of the semester. As long as you show up to class and take good notes and study for the tests it is really easy.
Teachers her class by informally discussing the past. Kept it interesting and short.
Take notes and take them fast! Depends on the class you are in of hers. Western Civ is all facts and not much fun. Love her as a person though!
Great teacher, highly recommended. She actually made the class somewhat interesting. Pretty simple. Take good notes and look at the study guides and you'll do really well. I wrote the optional paper because I did bad on a test. It wasn't that hard, took me about 4 hours though. Overall great class.
An excellent history professor; highly intelligent, insightful, and clear in her focus. Her lectures are precise and to the point; are told in a manner that is easily understood. She teaches from her mind, writing on a board, and not from a textbook or computer screen. Is practical, realistic, and poised in her approach. At times cynical and blunt
I took her class because of the comments on here. I, honeslty hated History in H.S. and struggled with it. My first test was 65% and I went to talk to her and she was extremely nice and helpful. She is hard, but she really does care for her students and shows it. If you really want to learn something! Take her! I love History now. I had an F in H.s
The best history teacher I've ever had. She explains things clearly and writes the most important things you need to know on the board. She wants you to read the book and there are several questions related to things in the book on the test that we did not review in class. You must take notes and pay attention in class - shes a great storyteller
She is really nice. As long as you are good at taking notes you will be fine.
She is a great teacher, I have taken her for two different history classes. All you have to do is take notes and do the study guide. She is very clear, I rarely used my book and got an A in her classes.
This class was so hard!! I never missed a day and took as good of notes as possible! her study guides never matched the two tests I took and a lot of the notes you take are completely pointless. Not for anyone with ADD
I absolutely hated history before having it with Ms. Sager. She is a little strange and boring at first, but she grows on you. She is hilarious sometimes and incredibly helpful. Grades are only 4 100 pt tests, BUT she lets you write a 100 pt paper to help counter balance a bad test. I 100% recommend you take her over other hist teachers here
great professor. was only 14 when i took the class. didnt use the textbook AT ALL and still got a B. she is super nice and funny. no homework. only 4 tests. class was super super easy. really red her!!
GREAT TEACHER, REALLY EASY TO FOLLOW. ATTENDANCE IS KEY. ONLY 4 TEST, NO HOMEWORK, STUDY GUIDES GIVEN. BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! I'M TAKING ANOTHER CLASS OF HERS THIS COMING SEMESTER.
Best history teacher I have ever had, hands down. She lectures completely from memory and in a way that almost makes you feel like you were there. No joke. I will say, if you plan on goofing off in her class she will put you on the spot. So if you take her class, be respectful.
I HATED history before this class. She makes things interesting and tends to make funny remarks related to now and then. If you have to take a history class, but don't care for history I highly recommend taking it with her!
She is a wonderful teacher! No hw, No papers, no quizzes whatsoever. You have to take really good notes and pay attention but if you do that then you'll get an A in her class. She can explain very well and her class isn't boring either. Only 4 tests out of the whole semester so make sure you study!
Mrs. Boldt might be the most awesome teacher I've ever had. No power points to follow. She lectures like she's telling a story, and completely from memory. You must take notes and attend class. Study guides are given, but she tests on what was lectured. Only 4 tests. I wish she could teach all of my classes!
EXCELLENT TEACHER
Awesome lady, even better teacher!
Awesome historian, even better teacher!
Mrs. Boldt's lectures are full of information, if you don't show up, you will have trouble come test time. Her lectures are however told like a story. In history 121, It was all lecture. The class had 400 points (4 tests 100 pts a piece.) Overall she's awesome, and really is there for you, you just have to ask her for it.
Amazing teacher! I always found history boring but when I took her class it suddenly started to interest me! It's like she's telling a story! I had no trouble paying attention to her! Passed with a C. Great teacher, would have passed higher if I studdied a little longer! Four 100 point quizzes and an optional 100 pnt essay to makeup for a bad test
Pay attention in lectures. I love history so found them interesting. She puts everything into story form. If you miss a class be sure to get notes from someone who takes a lot of them. The only points you get are from a test. If you need help she is willing to work with you, so long as she sees you trying.
Amazing teacher; probably best i've taken at maple woods! I got an A but you have to pay attention and take good notes and go to every class. Only 4 grades but she gives an optional extra credit paper. Text book is a waste of money but you need a document book- she gives you the page numbers so i just photo copied a friends. Fantastic teacher!
i love history, not so much american history, but i would sit and listen to lecteres all day long if i could. bolt had amasing lectures that where informative and not jsut a broad sweep of the topic, she would explain root problems and why they happened and the effect. no homeowork was given and only a optional paper for extra credit. great class
She is a great teacher! I have never had a teacher to memorize things as she does when it comes to lecturing. She is very insightful and real with her information. Sometimes its hard to follow due to not having a powerpoint to follow, but definitely recommend her!
Gives a total of 4 tests which are all easy if you show up to class.
No homework. Only graded on 4 tests. If you show up for her lecture you will pass all tests easily (attendance not mandatory, but you won't pass the tests if you don't show). She gives 1 extra credit assignment. She loves what she does and helps you understand everything. I hate history classes but I would take more just to have her as a professor.
No homework in this class. Show up to class listen to lecture and take notes. Tests are straight forward. Study for tests and should get an A.
AMAZING TEACHER! The way she teaches is great. Shes funny and explains things greatly. I really enjoyed her class and will be sure to take more from her in the future. As long as you listen in class and take good notes you'll pass the tests. Its very important that you read the sources assigned.
This is a class that i wouldn't suggest for bad test takers or those who don't do well in lecture based classes. Everything is from the lecture and there are only four tests(with an optional assignment). But, if you like listening to history lectures and are a good test taker god class to take. No mandatory reading except for sources the tests.
I HATE history so I was super worried to take a class that didn't interest me. She is one of the best teachers I've EVER had. In a weird way she makes history interesting. To pass the class; take notes other than what she writes on the board, print off the study guides and refer to them while taking notes, STUDY, and you'll pass the class!
She was the best college professor I had at MCC! Very fun and grades fairly. She is very helpful. I took 3 classes with her and all of them were awesome!
Professor Boldt is a very solid teacher. She's very straight forward, and so is the class. If you show up, take good notes, and study those notes, you will easily pass. Also, she presents some extra credit just in case you need it (only 4 tests in the class). I am very grateful I had her, and I wish all teachers were like her.
Professor Boldt had my attention every class. My advice is to show up and take notes. Have a solid study plan because there is no homework. Grades are based on 4 tests, so it's all up to you. I enjoyed her class and feel that if you take responsibility to study and take notes, you will do well. I would take any class taught by her!
Professor Boldt was a great instructor. She is a very respectable and EXTREMELY educated-- she doesnt even use notes or slide shows for her class. She can pull out all facts, names, and dates from her memory. Great sense of humor, but you better come to class. She is lecture based, and missing a class means you miss a chunk of history!
I took Diane for Western Civ. Her class was made up of four tests and an optional paper. If you are not a good test taker i wouldn't recommend her. I ended up writing the extra credit paper in a couple hours and finished the class with a B. I would take her again! She is funny and makes the class interesting.
What to say. She is awesome
The class is strictly lecture - that being said, if you miss a lot of days, you won't pass. Boldt is an AMAZING professor. She is incredibly intelligent. The course will be completely graded on tests, which aren't hard and are all open book except the essay portion. Definitely recommend this class!
She is a good teacher, but we are only graded on four tests. She makes history interesting for me (which is a plus because I usually don't like history). She is also funny at times and we do use the textbook for each test.
One of THE BEST professors I have EVER had. She is super passionate about History, and makes her lectures come alive even to those who didn't care for the subject before. She assigns no homework at all, there are 4 tests total, and it's all straight from her lectures and the short primary sources readings. If you take good notes in class--easy A.
Do not miss class. Her tests are entirely lecture based. Also, of the two books you are required to purchase for this class, only the Perspectives From The Past book will be used. She does cover Hebrew history and Christian history, but is very careful about how she teaches. I'm a Christian and I felt comfortable in her class.
This is my second time taking Boldt. First time I skipped class a lot and it showed in my grade. This time I attended class & took detailed notes. Grade is based off of 4 tests primarily on lecture and some on the book. If she says it, WRITE IT DOWN! Great professor and helpful if you have questions plus she's hilarious!
Heavy in lectures but they're amazing & she keeps it funny. Her tests are the only thing used for grades. A multiple choice portion is online and timed but you can take it at home and use any resources - most importantly, your textbook. The essay portion is done in class and is based off 2 stories in the other textbook. I now have her for HIST120.
She makes the lectures interesting and makes it clear what will be in the tests. Yes, she does go off on stories but generally they are actually interesting to hear about. I would absolutely take her course again.
The class is made up of 4 tests and they are online besides a small writing portion in class. The professor is extremely knowledgeable and doesn't use notes or anything, all of the information is just in her head. Some questions come from the textbook but very few so if you don't read it you can still pass the class. I would take her again!
Lecture was hard to follow. Tests were hard. Extra credit was a 6 page essay. Overall a hard class.
Clear expectations, good feedback & good insight. Didn't think I'd pick that much up from the class, but her interactions & feedback offered incentive to dig a bit deeper on the subjects at hand. Recommend taking her history courses, she clearly has a passion for it. Plus she's a Jeopardy champion, so she knows more than you.
You're lucky if you get into her classroom. Great professor, made the class fun. So fun, in fact, I took her for 3 different history classes. She'll keep you on your toes and if you miss lecture, you won't pass the tests. Pay attention and you'll breeze through.
Prof Boldt is by far the best teacher I've had this semester. She is clear on what's on test, lectures are clear and understanding. I am DEF taking her again. Works great with blackboard, and responds to emails very quickly. Definitely worth taking her!!!
Professor Boldt is awesome. Her class was always interesting, and you can tell she knows what she's talking about. She'll always answer questions you might have. She's been teaching the material for awhile so the knowledge she has on the subject is extensive. I will definitely take her class again if given the chance.
I took all of history classes that she taught that maple woods offerd. Her lectures are amazing , she makes sure you were able to scucced , I was struggle and she met with me and helped me figure out what I needed to do help me succeed in the class . Take good notes and read the textbook , attend lecture and you will be fine ! She is helpful !
Tests were based off of study guides and notes from class. Just take good notes from class and you'll be fine. If you skip class, you will miss a lot of information! But she's always willing to help
I loved her! She was interesting, she was funny, she gave you all the tools you needed to pass on a silver platter. Just show up to class and take notes. There was barely any homework at all! I loved this class! It was my favorite so far!
Will need the primary source textbook, not the other. Take GOOD notes for the test that is what you will be graded on. Very inspirational, real, and woke lecturer. Good sense of humor and down to earth teacher. Go. to. EVERY. CLASS. or else you will be missing information for the test! (literally what she lectures is on the TEST so pay attention!)
Really enjoy Prof. Dianes class. Shes pretty straightforward from the beginning what you need to do to pass. Great lectures and easy to work with.
I have never enjoyed learning about history. However, this class has been really fun. Mrs. Boldt's lectures are very entertaining. She tells fun stories along the was that helped me remember events, people, places, etc. Great lecturer!
if you read the required chapters and listen in class, you will be completely fine. ec is available at the end
Amazing history professor, she gives a clear and unbiased view of American history without whitewashing any of the uglier details and she has an amazing memory of historical figures, she always shares a bit of the personalities of the historical figures she discusses which helps to humanize them and make them more relatable.
Diane's class is full of great lectures. You can tell she loves what she does which is always a great sign. Her tests are designed in a way that you can't just Google the answers so be aware of that if you take a hybrid or online version of the course. Take plenty of notes and read the material and you'll do fine.
A great professor. I was hesitant since I was taking her online, but she was awesome. Communicates well, and always posts reminders on due dates every week. As long as you follow the rubric and requirements for discussion posts and essays, you'll be fine. There are 3 exams total, 2nd is proctored. The best online teacher you could have!
Two sentences. Absolutely. Amazing.
Discussion boards are 1500 word assignments, for 40pts weighted to be the largest part of the grade. The teacher didn't write the course and is highly unhelpful with discrepancies, and is not versed in the technology necessary. The writing assignments are due BEFORE the reading you are supposed to write over.
