Take her! she is the best teacher I have ever had. I never had interest in mythology in art literature, but she made it interesting and easy to understand.
She is a ****! The Dean had to replace her with other professor because she was being **** with a student.
great professor, very intelligent.
Great Teacher!!!!! I've taken her twice and passed both times. She is a little hard, but as long as you write good papers theres no problem.
She is a great profeesor, she knows what she is talking about. Take her she is an easy professor.
Excellent professor because she really goes into detail and makes sure the whole class knows what going on. Test are pretty simple and only a few essays. Plus she will extend deadlines if you are behind.
Very fun teacher who really gets into her subject, which is the best kind to have. She actually grades her essays for quality, which makes it a little hard, but she doesn't expect them to be perfect. She makes the subject fun.
she is on ok teacher. she helps you understand the reading, if you are lost. also helps you get ready for a test, even gives you a study guide. but she grades real hard on her papers.
Professor Brown loves what she does. She is excellent at helping you understand the beauty in art. We rarely read the small books we had and most of the papers were graded fairly, start your papers early so they'll have less mistakes.
Tough cookie. She assigns lots of essays and grades harshly.
She's just bad!!!
:) Lovely class. I enjoyed it very much. If you enjoy history with art and culture, then I recommend this class to you. She's a good person and really loves what she teaches. Do the work, study for tests and you'll be fine.
Difficult to understand - talks too much about things that aren't important to the class.
Prof. Brown is an AWESOME professor. She makes the class fun and interesting. She gets very excited and into the lesson, which makes everyone more interested in the material as well. She is great and I highly reccommend her to everyone!
shes fun and she makes things easily understood
awesome teacher. If you're interested in art this is the teacher to take she's incredibly knowledgeable on the subjects she teaches. awesomeness pure awesomeness^.^
It is a gordon rule class,so be prepared to write, gives HM everyday in preparation for tests, and gives tests reviews right before the tests.Concentrates only on certain aspects of art and talks a lot.But overall good. I would definately take her again
What an unfair, and unclear teacher. I couldn't believe that the way she taught. I would not recommend taking her to anyone. She grades harshly, unfair, and even though she says she cares.... She doesn't.... Not a good teacher at all.
Absolutely boring. This is probably the only professor who can make you hate humanities because you must see it from her viewpoint, if not, no good grade is given. Besides, she only concentrates on ridiculous concepts of art and expects you to see what she does. I don't recommend her at all.
She most certainly knows her stuff, but presents it in a way that can be overwhelming. She talks a lot, so be prepared for long lectures and note-taking. The worst part is the papers. There are a lot of short papers throughout the course, and he grades VERY hard on them.
Prof. Brown is a very nice lady. She knows her buisness and tries to make the class as painless as possible. The lectures can be boring, but we had our fun days. Her tests are super easy they come straight from your homework, if you do the homework u'll get an A/B on the test. I'd recommend her.
Too many reading assignments. All the homework I had this past semester(spring 05)was from her. Just do the work and study before the tests,TAKE NOTES! everything is on the test. Lectures are boring. Wouldn't take her again, but very interesting subject! loved the class Mythology. READ THE SYLLABUS
Prof. Brown is a great teacher. I was taking an 18 credit semester, and honestly the load she gives you isn't bad at all. Her lectures are interesting, and she likes for student to get into the information and ask questions. Any questions. I really learned alot, and it was all easy enough. Can't ask for more. Would def. take again.
Extremely boring teacher. She grades papers pretty tough and I felt my final grade was totally unfair and not at all what I had earned so when I asked her about it she didn't listen at all to what I had to say. She ruined that class for me.
MS. Brown is serious about her humanites! She loves it when she gets on a roll she is like smiling while giving a long and boring about ancient ruions! LOTS AND LOTS of worksheets!!! Busy work and she does put you to sleep every now and then but her class is pretty easy just do your homework.
Loved the class! Dr. Brown is great! My only problem with her is she grades papers, essays, and short answers as though we had a humanities doctorate, too. She drops lowest test grade, no final, only a unit test.
great teacher, never took a note jus doo the work sheets n try to pay attention to the lecture do the work in class n get those extra points. o final or midterm jus a unit test. deff take her again if i had to
She's really nice and knows her stuff. The work load is a little much sometimes if you're in honors...
Bit of an oldfashioned scatterbrain, but I love her! She is amusing and informative. Classes are interesting and eventhough it is a gordon rule calss, she doesn't make you count your words on tests...i like that.
She does inded know her stuff.
Ms. Brown is a good teacher. I had her for Mythology. Tests are too long for a class that's an hour and 15 mins. Very picky if you're late.
best proff ever had her 4 times now. she knows her stuff she's traveled europe and seen the pieces she talks about in class. her tests have gotten kinda hard but if you study you can pass. HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHLY recommend her.
Enjoy her classes. She is one of the hardest professors the honors program has. But, you LEARN in her class. She wants students to participate in lectures and keeps track of who does(200pts). Workload is a bit much, but it's not extreme. She will get you ready for a university education. She's a good professor and a good person.
She is very unfair!!!! If you do not write the test essays ecatly as she wants- which she doesnt tell you- you fail them! Also she doesnt have a late policy for assignments- you miss the class you get a zero for the assignment- She is too scatter brained and repeats herself too much- do not take her class- most of my class agreed
She is a wonderful teacher, especially if you like architecture you'll enjoy her class
Great professor, explains everything clearly and answers all questions
She is a very good teacher. She gives study guides for each class, so you don't have to read the whole chapter. She provides the essay questions word for word so you write out your essay a head of time, know what to say and get a good grade in class. Easy class, not much writing.
Professor Brown knows her material well but tends to forget what she has or has not taught. She assigned the same hw mutilpe times. There was an essay due almost very class, 1 term paper on Othello, 2 cultural events, and 3 tests. Doesn't give enough time for the length of the tests. The load of this class was heavy.
She is a good teacher....very scatterbrained but she allowed me to turn in my assignment by email when I didnt do it right. Also she gave word for word study guides. However we did write too much in the class...it felt like she was grading for grammar and not the subject matter
She was awful! There was a paper due almost EVERY class, and she graded you more on you writing skills then the content. One week we had a test and 2 paper due (one you had to read Othello for) I ended out dropping the class. I wouldn't take ny of her classes again.
she was an okay teacher she just talk too much and then it get really boring that you fall asleep in and her reviews for the exams suck they are mostly every thing that you talked about in the chapters she has a real big issue with your spellin. she has to have every thing perfect
This teacher is great, take her
DONT NOT TAKE HER! You have homework almost every single night! Papers and projects and presentations out the butt hole! She grades harder than my comp teacher! Everything has to be PERFECT or you lose points! If you have a life outside of class THEN TAKE SOMEONE ELSE! There is WAY WAY WAY TOO MUCH homework! It a very stressful class!
She is a cool teacher however her grading on essays is really harsh and your T's have to be crossed and your I's dotted but besides all that she is a great teacher and knows what she is talking about. There is one group presentation and two major essay's due. Oh and she moves around alot so if you have motion sickness dont sit in the front
This teacher is really good she knows her stuff. Her tests are easy as long as you do every HW and hang on to every word in class. However i do agree that when it comes to grading papers she completely ignores the content and begins to grade on whether the paper was set up correctly. For one of my papers i went to the writing center and smarthinkin
GREAT Professor! She definatly knows what she is talking about! Very smart lady and very cultured! She studied in Florence Italy and she loves to talk about her travels. Also, she brings personal pictures to explain different trademarks from around the world! One of the best professors! You will definatly leave the class knowing more about art! If
Homework every single night, on top of a project and essay, and three tests, yet the class and course is easy, and the content is easy to understand. The tests are easy, and the subject was interesting.
This professor is nice but she is somewhat hard. her tests are not to easy but not to hard! she is more in the middle then anything else! but there is homework in like every class! and the homework is time consuming if u do it right! also there are no big projects but dont sit in the front seat bc she spits on u when she talks. LOL
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! i've had comp teachers that grade papers easier than her. Lots of HW, and even more research papers and essays... pretty anal about tardiness, although she is late most of the time. Exams are extremely long, with mostly short answers.
I've never dropped a class in my entire college career until I took her Mythology course. Never in my life have I ever seen so many red marks on a paper I've submitted - and I'm an English major! I do not recommend her at all.
Miss Brown is a unique one. She is funny and very different. Very committed to her teaching. She gives alot a ton of homework and expects it done. Two term papers and the tests are somewhat hard and easy but there essay questions and so forth. Her class requires alot of time so take it if you have alot of time if not don't bother.
Tests are on the difficult side. But if you invest a few hours of study before the test and you'll be fine. She gives out study guides but you need to know it back and forth. She gives really good but long lectures so bring a snack and drinks.
VERY nice and passionate teacher. Could be a little hard on grading essays but only because you should've had english comp before you take this class. i really enjoyed her class.
she is a nice lady, but her class is hard for me, and I dropped it because the first test is hard and I don't think i can handle it anymore. She grades a paper carefully and it is very hard to get a good grade in her class.
Her deadlines are a complete joke. She constantly pushes back her own deadlines because she cant keep up with her own curriculum. As a result you'll get lost as well. I failed her class because of her lack of clear communication and clarity. I do not recommend her. Take Chapman instead.
Worst class of my college career thus far. She assigns essay's for every test you will take plus two more, that if missed you fail automatically. She grades her assignments unfairly, most of the times it feels like an English professor was grading my work than a Humanities one. All in all the class was a complete disgrace, I'am happy its over.
SHE'S WIERD & COOKY BUT HER GRADING IS NO JOKE. YOU HAVE TO WRITE AN OUT OF CLASS ESSAY FOR EVERY TEST. HER TESTS ARE DIFFICULT. IF YOU MISPELL EVEN THE LITTLEST WORD ON A PAPER SHE WILL STOP GRADING AND GIVE YOU A ZERO. SHE TOUGH.
I took her for intro, and she was lovely! she is so passionate about humanities. Do your homework, and make sure you study for her tests! I would recommend her :)
I'm taking her for Mythology currently, and the experience couldn't be worse. I personally prefer a lecture, lecture, lecture, test, etc. format. She expects alot of in class participation, and gets flustered when she doesn't receive it. She also grades prewriting assignments, which I think is detestable. If you can help it, take someone else.
She is horrible. Her class is way too hard for a humanities class. She is very strict, homework every day, and she doesnt like to lecture, she just babbles a lot and talks about nothing most of the time.
This was the worst class I have ever had. Brown is extremely disrespectful to her students and never really wants to hear an opinion if it doesn't fit her opinions. She makes you do an essay for every test and grades ridiculously serious. It's like taking another English Comp class. Stay away from her class!
this lady is horrible. Her deadlines are crazy, she is very strict, unjust, and unfair with essays that you write for her, her class isnt interesting at all, and she babbles on about her day every day. She isnt even fair with grading at I heard she just got worse before I took her class. I dont recommend it so dont take it if you dont have to.
Horrible teacher. Very strict grading. Spends more time talking about her family and Star Trek than about what will be on test. Gives a lot of useless assignments and complaints a lot about how much she has to grade. Do not take her for myth. Take Jackie
I TOOK HER FOR MYTHOLOGY. THE SUBJUECT WAS INTERESTING BUT SHE WAS HORRIBLE. SHE MIS VERY STRICT AND NOT VERY COMPREHENSIVE. SHE GAVE ME A 'F' ON MY PAPER BECAUSE I MISSUNDERSTOOD HER INSTRUCTIONS. I HAD TO ARGUE WITH HER TO LET ME REDO THE PAPER AND WHEN I DID REDO IT SHE DEDUCTED POINTS FOR 'BEING LATE'.
SHE WAS HE BEST PROFESSOR THAT I EVER HAD!!! It's amazing how much she knows!!! I took her on my fist semester in college and i got an A+. Homework doesn't count towards your grade, but it really helps on the test. I loved it!!!!
Teacher is nuts please dont take her.She had a nervous breakdown in class one day and was asking the students to cut her head off with an axe. She also cant teach and is very sarcastic;not very helpful
This professor knows her stuff. She is really out there to teach her students about the humanities. If you read the text, you have a great chance at an A. She is funny and you will get to watch Star Trek :] Three Thumbs Up!
Prior to taking Prof Brown I was intimidated by the remarks I read on here but had no choice due to my time frame. I have to say she is a great teacher! very funny! I do not think her essay grading is fair, nobody does. She is very critical and has a horrible grading scale but other than that I loved her class
Very hard to please.
Very hard to please. She is opinionated, and likes opinionated people, but only if their views are the same as hers. I took this class online, and it was all textbook reading and answering questions. You don't have to work very hard at the quizzes, but the she's very picky with her Cultural Events and her Discussions. Not understanding. But easy A.
Before entering her class, I was a pretty good interested in mythology. However, I took her class and it was one of the most boring classes there is. On top of that, I had students that will ask her questions and throw her off into tangencies. When she lectures, she tends to go into detail for certain topics that will overall become redundant. Over
This class was awful. She decided to give us 10 question quiz every class based on the readings assigned which were extremely hard. Tests and Essays were hard. Ended up dropping the class. If you want to waste $275 then take her! -__-
I find that Dr. Brown is a very good teacher. She knows what she's talking about and makes it interesting by being funny, outgoing, and personal. Be prepared to do your homework. The quizes arent hard if you read the material given. Tests were easy the Essays are the difficult part. I liked her overall. And she is easy to please. Be outgoing :)
Very difficult teacher to deal with. If you don't see something the exact way that she does, she will deduct points and give you a vague reason as to why you received that grade. Very critical, and overall very, very unpleasant to deal with. DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS!
If you didn't have the same view as her's, it was wrong, and she was not clear at all on what she wants in terms of her essays.WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING SHE SAYS.She may briefly say a story, as a side note, that doesn't seem important but it will end up being one of her 3-point questions on the test. She let her personal problems affect the class.
EASY CLASS AS LONG AS YOU DO THE REVIEWS
The essay grading is ridiculous. I took this class to learn not to write about the same thing we went over in class to point of redundancy. Teacher is a try-hard.
This teacher was great! She does a great job explaining ideas in class. She makes class very enjoyable and interesting! It is a lot of work but it's worth! I took two of her humanities in the same semester and passed them both with a 95! The course alone is interesting but she makes it much more interesting !
If you're expecting an easy A humanities class, this isn't it. Make sure everything is in your own words and cite everything because you will lose points for it. You will have weekly 300 minimum word count assignments. Most of them are describing a piece of artwork in your own words.
I took her for Music Appreciation and it was my hardest class. She's a tough grader, study for the quizzes and exams, do the music reviews!! If you don't your grade WILL suffer. If you don't know music don't take her.
Assignments due every 3 days! For writing assignments if you don't have the same opinion as hers then you're wrong. The whole assignment is to state your opinion about works of art! She grades super hard, something so easy she makes so difficult. Don't take her. Suppose to be an easy class but you will almost fail even if you do all of her work.
This professor gives weekly 300 word essays on art that you have never seen before tells you to describe it in your own words then marks you wrong when you describe what you see! If you are not a art major i would not recommend taking her class ! If you are going to be marked points she should be more specific in what she is requiring you to write
This Professor is horrible. All she does is talk and it isn't even about anything interesting. She doesn't know how to make a study guide and is a terrible grader for the 2 papers she has you write. She gives a million quizzes and they don't even tie in with the lesson. Her tests are like 100 questions and they are all short answer. Do NOT take her
For the online course, Brown gives a lot of papers but they're around at 300 word requirement. There is one paper per chapter on describing art or on answering questions from the texts in the textbook. Tests can be easily passed if you look up the question or do vocab she assigns. Strict on deadlines and isn't picky on cultural events!
This was one of my first online classes and thankfully the information was organized in canvas. Professor Brown is very specific when it comes to submitting assignments but as long as you follow the guidelines you will get an A. Study guides are very helpful for tests. They are not graded, but I definitely recommend doing them!
All and all she was an okay professor for online there is a lot of work but it is easy to get ahead and pass.
