She sucks, avoid like the plague

By far the worst teacher I've had...Do NOT , I repeat do NOT take her!!
She is the teacher from H*ll! The worst Professor I had in College.
Didn't go over material at all `cumaltive exam with no review...

She has an attitude problem and talks A LOT!!!!!!
Makes faces and butts in during group presentations!! NOT a neutral observer!!!
Very challenging, if you study you do well on tests, slackers will fail.
Doesn't help you out at all, horrible person to work with.Makes material worse
She's ok.
She ruins your group presentations and her tests suck!
gets an attitude easily, very vague, and doesn't present the material very well.
her classes are un-avoidable as a psych major. Its a shame because she has to be the worst teacher at CNU. Almost worth transfering so her class won't screw up my gpa. Everytime im in one of her classes i think i get more and more stupid.
She is a free spirit, so yeah shell interupt your group stuff. She is challenging, but you have to ask the right questions to get the right helpful answers. Overall I had a great time in her classes, take her if you want a fun challenge
Her class was VERY boring. It was hard to force myself to go to class. Rarely really said anything of substance during her lectures. Got more from reading the book than attending the class. Read and study and you'll do well in the class.
I love her. She may be hard, but she is helpful if you just ask. Don't take her if you dont want to read, cus that is a must.
dr. c is a great teacher who is helpful as long as you know what to ask. 303 is a great class fun everyday. 313 is alot of reading but attendance isnt really necessary tests straight from notes.
She's a nice lady, but not much is accomplished in class.
This class is a lot of fun if you like group work. That being said, Dr. C is sort of ridiculous. The grading is very arbitrary, and she takes material from within the lines of text. Don't go to see her unless you know your answer isn't in a book or handout, because she will send you to it.
Shes a Horrible Freshmen psych teacher. She is rude, she whines and complains, and she asks questions that dont make any sense. Her attendence/participation policy are horible. I will transfer if i ever get stuck with her again. AVOID at all costs.
hated this class. my first psych class and was really excited but this teacher ruined it. nothing worthwhile is done in class but attendance is taken. teacher is unhelpful, gets an attitude easily and is boring....AVOID AVOID AVOID
she is insane and out of her mind... off the wall questions, hard quizzes, grading is hard, she is rude and can get mean easily, very intimidating so you can't go for help, DO NOT TAKE HER WHATEVER you do! if you get this professor, get out of her class as soon as you can! save yourself!
i was terrified after reading the reviews on here i was so ready to switch out..but i'm glad i didn't! this class is sooo easy provided you read and study the textbook--she also prints out outlines that are helpful and is not mean AT ALL!! don't be afraid to take her class in the least--she is very energetic and funny!!
if you can withstand multiple choice questions that you have to read multiple times...then you'll do fine...the tests arent that much of grade...group work is key! quizzes every-so-often....3 or 4 tests? during these tests..a short video is shown...then you must write an essay with little time, applying the key concepts from the selected course.
first of all she is great. you just have to go talk to her if you have problems and read. You may have to do work but i have learned more in her classes then any other. I strongly recommend her for 313. it is the best class i have taken.
She is just strange. She is not accessible AT ALL. She just has an attitude most of the time. I am not sure why she teaches, and I definitely don't understand how/why she went into psych!
BOOOOOOOORING, but not hard. Has a bit of an attitude at times. Okay, actually all the time.
i love dr. cat!! i don't know whya ll these people hate her and why they are saying these things!! i have never ever had a problem with her! she is really funny and really nice and she NEVER EVER has taken attendance in our class. the tests are really easy and the class is interesting. these people are just crazy.
Dr. Cat is amazing. I was so scared after reading all the comments posted on here, but she is amazing. She gives EASY hw and grades it and her tests are soooo easy. Also, she doesnt care if you dont come to class and she grades on a curve (any 85 or above is an A) TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, YOU WILL LOVE HER!
Dr. Cat keeps this class interesting, she seems very outgoing and is quite comical. She gives interesting homework assignments and explains things very thouroughly. She is an awesome prof.
Wow, I'm appalled by some of the reviews on here. Dr C was probably the easiest and nicest teacher I've had in all my years of school; the lectures don't do much but if you read the text like she asks, you'll do fine. The lowest grade I received was a 90 and that was after not reading a chapter for the test. Highly recommended!
She's an awesome person & i loved her sense of humor. The class was easy if you do the reading. No attendance policy and she grades easily. Passionate about subject and teaching. loved the class.
AMAZING TEACHER!! I absolutely loved her. She is very passionate about psychology and teaching. And she's very energetic and fun. Highly recommended!
Dr. Catanzaro is a great professor. She's really the only reason I woke up in the morning to go to class. She was interesting, funny, and kept the class entertaining for all. Learned a lot about psychology, and possibly may choose to minor in psychology due to the class. Really good teacher otherwise. Also, easy to get an A (85%).
She is very relatable. She uses funny examples in class that also help you learn. You have to read the text and study to get the A. She always offers help. Her class interested me and reinforced why psych is my major.
I had so much fun in this class. She usually just teaches right out of the textbook, so make sure you read in order to get the grade. She gives study guides for all tests. DO THE HOMEWORK - not that much and not that hard, but a big part of your grade. 5 tests, but awesome grading scale (85% and up is an A). TAKE HER!
I changed my major because of this woman.
Seems pretty nice for the most part, but then all of a sudden she'll snap at you when you least expect it. I felt bad for another student when I took her, the person asked a question she thought was dumb and gave the poor kid a nasty look. I don't get it, she has an attitude sometimes!
Great teacher and lots of fun! Have to read and study but you should get an A or B. Funny in class.
This is one of the worst classes I have ever taken. The tests are ridiculous, pulling information from the four corners of the book so that you would have to memorize the entire chapter to do well. Very few people did well in my class. Avoid at all costs!
Her questions, attitude and grading are just like these comments- ALL OVER THE PLACE! Acted like she didn't care all semester then slammed the entire class' major papers at the end. She forms her ideas in her head of what your thoughts and paper should be and if it doesn't match up you are SOL. Start early and kiss up A LOT.
Terrible teacher. Se doesn't feel it's her job to teach. If she expects you of cheating, she won't confront you like the rest of the school, she'll embarass you and make you feel like you have actually done something wrong when you haven't. I got into an argument with her about it right before I took my final. She thinks a C is a good grade!!!
Great prof, but only if you have the motivation to learn on your own. Her lectures only supplement any reading you've done prior to the class. Otherwise, she sounds all over the place and, at times, incomprehensible. But she is very nice and helpful when needed! Again, if you learn mostly on your own, she's great.
Very Beautiful
Not great, but not bad. A little hard to follow
She gives you a lot of options for extra credit and she makes the quizzes for you to learn. I liked her a lot!
She's useless. Often gets sidetracked and wastes valuable class time. You're left with the task of teaching the rest of the material to yourself, as infuriating as it seems. Her study guides aren't very helpful, so you'll have to rely on the learning modules instead. Quizzes are simple and tests are fairly challenging.
You've got to read the text, and if you take good notes on it, you'll be in great shape. Everything on the tests is directly from the text. Class is mandatory but somewhat chill. Some of the assignments take a lot of time but they're pretty easy.
Tests were completely from the text. She gives you three tries for the quizzes, best thing to do is to look over the ones you got right and wrong, so you can adjust your answers for the next two tries. DO THE LEARNING MODULES COMPLETELY! She claims they help for the tests, but they don't.It only really helps you out a little on your final grade.
I am not sure why there are so many bad comments about this professor. Yes the tests come out of the book, but so do her notes and her lectures. Rd the chapter along with the classes and study before the test and you should be fine. Her grading scale is also a lil easier than normal 87+ is an A! I liked her. Rd the green parts of the book!!!!!!
all you have to do is keep up with the reading and take notes as you read and you're golden. i think she's a great teacher! she really cares about your success as a student and gets that her class isn't the only class you're taking. she also lets us pick test formats and how we want it to be graded. i would recommend her to anyone!
She is very unprofessional and scatter brained. She makes her tests are VERY hard. She makes her class overly hard for a 202 level course. She has made me hate my major of psychology and I will never take a class taught by her again. You must dedicate more time to this class than any other you will take. Many people struggle for C's.
Very scatter brained but amusing. Her tests are hard but if you study and know some psych background you will pass. She does give out a few papers but none of them were overly hard. She is very understanding and nice but she will use her psych training on you.
Prof Catanzaro is the best! Sure, she can be a little picky, but if you actually put a little work into it...you'll be fine. I took PSYC 202 and PSYC 313. You can earn extra credit in both. Psyc 202 is mainly small papers and tests. Psyc 313 is made up of tests and group projects. Great personality!
She was awful. She is very scatterbrained. She gives out TONS of assignments. She is hard to understand as well as comprehend in class sometimes. She overworks her students with journals, quizzes, tests, papers/assignments, and research requirement. This class is not worth it. Strongly suggest not taking her.
Great teacher. Really approachable. It's important that you read the text/take notes prior to class because she tends to explain ideas briefly and assume you know the details from reading. Her tests are hard but she gives weekly open-note online quizzes and journals to help raise your grade. I really liked this class/Dr. Catanzaro!!!
Makes an entry level psych class a lot harder than it needs to be. The questions are subjective and you have to apply the theories you learn in her class, and sometimes that's not enough. She always tries to "trick you" on the tests. Luckily she gives open-note quizzes and a couple easy papers. Wouldn't take her again.
She's certainly not "scatterbrained." She (rightfully) assumes during lectures that you've actually read the assigned material, so if you're slacking off and not doing the reading, she might appear to jump around in lectures. Anyone who thinks she's giving too much work is in for an unpleasant surprise when they attempt other psychology courses.
Terrible professor. She overloads her students with assignments and useless handouts. She can be quite snippy at times, as well. You don't learn anything in this class, period. Avoid if you can!
Stay away unless you like being buried with handouts, papers, reading assignments, and more handouts! It's ironic that a class about stress is the most stressful class I've ever had! She has made me hate my major, and I advise all psych majors to avoid this woman! Your sanity depends on it!
I really enjoyed this class. She was always very engaging and always had interesting topics to talk about. She does diverge a little sometimes but not enough that it's annoying. I don't know what other people are talking about. This class is not overly stressful and I don't feel burdened by this class.
Overall the class wasn't too difficult. She's extremely scatterbrained on goes on tangents a lot. She also flips through the notes before you have a chance to write anything down. Her quizzes aren't bad because you can take them 3 times, but the tests are pretty hard. If you pay enough attention, you can do well.
Pretty good teacher, good at explaining things although the lectures were very fast paced. Very entertaining woman, the tests aren't bad if you read the textbook and study adequately, but if you try to wing it you will fail. I recommend her
Loved this class! She is so enthusiastic and outgoing. Her classes are always interesting and the topics are always out of the box. She is an easy grader and give a lot of extra credit.
She's a nice lady, but basically makes class twice as boring by trying to make real world applications. The first class, she gave a lecture that had to deal with every single thing you can do with a Psychology Major... And after her class, I changed my major away from psych.
Dr. Catanzaro prefaces every exam (and the entire course) by emphasizing the importance of reading the textbook, and that she WILL NOT be covering all (or really half?) of the testable material. There are five 50-question exams - not including the final. The tests are in depth, the class is not.
Simply put, Catanzaro was the worst professor that I have had since being at CNU. She gives a reading quiz every class as well as weekly assignments. She is odd and goes on tangents. I have had no problem with classes at CNU until I took her class. Her tests are 70 multiple choice. In addition, she expects you to know EVERYTHING from the textbook.
Awesome professor with a ton of personality!
Honestly, I loved Dr. Catanzaro. She's clearly passionate about psychology, which is clearly reflected in her lectures and one-on-one time with students. The only issue I had while I was her student was the difficulty of her tests. You most definitely has to study far in advance, and pay close attention to her lectures. Regardless, shes fantastic.
Not a good professor at all! She's extremely rude and will call you out in front of the class. Has no respect for your personal life. Her tests may be fairly moderate but her teaching style is lacking quite a bit of interest. She trys to relate to "young people" but fails epically. If you're just taking for an elective, don't do it. BEWARE!
There is nothing to gain by coming to class. She barley tells you anything she expect you to learn by using the textbook so get very comfortable reading. Her test are so hard and the questions are so confusing. Horrible teacher and got so political I almost had to walk out of class. If you don't have to tai her I wouldn't.
AVERT AVERT AVERT. SUCH A HARD CLASS. SO MUCH READING. SUPER SUPER HARD TESTS. POP QUIZZES THAT CRUSH YOU LIKE A BUG. GRADE CRUSHER. If you can pass / fail this class then take it. Otherwise DO NOT TAKE IT.
While the quizzes and tests were difficult at times, her lectures were always filled with interesting stories and anecdotes to help students remember class material. She's considerate of her students and loves what she is teaching. The class was a bit more challenging than I had expected but it was interesting and I learned a lot.
Tough but just work. If you don't put in the work, you won't pass. She will help you in her office hours: GO TO THEM. If she sees the effort, she'll reciprocate
She wasn't very clear in requirements for different papers and confusing when it came to lab assignments. Her lectures are long and do not have a lot of breaks. Be sure to participate and engage during class, she really appreciates it. She expects a lot of her students and can be dissappointed when her students don't achieve those expectations.
If you don't have the book, you wont pass. Her tests were hard. Her papers were hard. She started doing EC quizzes because the class was doing so bad. Went to her numerous times for help and she doesn't understand why you don't understand it. i feel as if she talked down to her students. She acts like shes on a pedestal.
You can tell that Catanzaro is extremely passionate and knowledgable about the topic. She does several online, open note quizzes that help boost your grade and give you an idea of what to expect on the exams. Although it's not required, reading the textbook is definitely key to getting A's on exams! Would absolutely take her again!
This class is pretty fair in the assignments and generally what you should be prepared for for a college class. Tests are basically the only grades, so you should be prepared to try and ace those. She has awesome lectures though that are really engaging.
She's fun, although she can be political and opinionated. She really cares about her students and although I was in a lecture hall with her, she still managed to learn my name. I had AP psych in high school, and personally thought the class was beyond easy. I never studied and still got A's. However, some people seemed to struggle.
I really liked Dr. C! She is very funny and quirky which makes lectures more entertaining. There is a lot of reading but honestly if you enjoy psychology it won't be a big deal. She is definitely always there for you and makes an effort to learn everyone's names, even in my class with just about 100 students. She appreciates it if you participate!
She is a great professor at first glance, but as you get to know her and continue to have to attend class-it starts to be a chore. In Psych 313, she puts you in semester groups and you have to teach the class. Do NOT take this class if you don't like group work, have no free time, or would rather not give your tuition to someone who does not teach.
I learned a lot from the textbook--not her. Make sure you have the textbook and READ it. The writing assignments are interesting, but if you do not like writing, do not take this class. She also is very scatterbrained and rude to students. Do not take this class if you are stressed out easily by unorganized professors. Exams are unnecessarily long.
Catanzaro is a nice person who does genuinely care about her students, but even being in an intro class with her I can tell she's pretty disorganized. I feel like I could easily pass the class with an A without ever attending a lecture. That being said, it's not boring, and her methods aren't a detriment to my learning.
I love Dr. Catanzaro! She is passionate about psychology and answers questions thoroughly and makes sure everyone knows exactly what's going on. The open note online quizzes are extremely helpful to prepare for the exams but make sure you read and take notes on the textbook, it makes everything much easier.
Dr. Catanzaro is a really funny lady who LOVES psychology. She uses really great examples to help her students understand material. There are open book online quizzes due at the end of each chapter that you can take up to 3 times and she takes the highest grade (really help boost your grade). Exams after every 2 chapters (makes it easy to study)
Really rude and condescending toward her students, but the class was easy.
Dr. Catanzaro is the WORST professor I have ever had. Simply put, she is a bully to her students. She is very undermining towards her students and is beyond rude. She personally victimized many students on multiple occasions and is not helpful if you go to office hours. She simply looks at you like you are dumb. If you can avoid her, please do so.
Condescending and rude towards her students. Not helpful in office hours if you dont give her an answer she doesnt like she keeps asking. Avoid if you can.
BEWARE! This professor is probably the worst Ive come across at CNU. She is extremely disorganized! Shes told my group three completely different things on the same stuff multiple times. She will meet with you out of class but dont expect to get anything out of it. Shes rude, condescending and calls out her students all the time. AVOID!!!!!
Dr. Catanzaro is a solid choice for a teacher. For this class she gives note handouts that are kinda confusing to read so I suggest taking your own notes. Before every quiz/test read the chapters in the book!!! If you read, you pass. Her lectures and tests are all based on the textbook. Overall good teacher and pretty easy A!
Honestly avoid if you can, you begin the semester by creating your own syllabus for class. For assignments, she gives a very vague outline for the assignment, and if you don't figure out what exactly it is that she wants, you'll receive a bad grade. I have never received such low grades on writing assignments before taking this class.
Catanzaro is not the best lecturer but her class is not very difficult, especially if you take advantage of the easy grades from open book online quizzes and SONA research. Personally feel that she would be a good teacher for smaller classes but PSYC 202 lecture was not my favorite.
Mentions alcohol almost every class, let's students design the syllabus then doesn't follow it. If you have a question you're better off not asking her because she won't help. No clear grading criteria for papers, sometimes you get a numeric grade, sometimes a letter grade. Rude and often times demeaning to students. Constantly changes things.
She is quirky and funny. She does everything in her path to make sure you understand the topic, can think/problem solve for yourself, and succeed. Will take one of her classes again if available.
She was very pessimistic and expected the worst of the class. If she doesnt like you then dont expect her to change her mind. Her instructions are not clear, yet she expects a very specific assignment to be turned in. She tries too hard to relate to the class that its boring.
This class was hard to understand. No textbook but has like a page of info on each ppt slide. Hard to follow in lectures, very boring although Dr c tries her best to be relatable. Very vague and wordy in paper instructions, no clear rubric so you don't know what you lost points on. Some class group work, groupmates were just as confused as I was.
Dr. Catanzaro seems to care about her students, but she falls short when it comes to teaching. She demands a lot from her students, overcomplicates simple material, and has very long and repetitive lectures. She's also not easily approachable. If you need help with something, she tends to be very condescending and makes you feel incompetent.
The absolute HARDEST class I have EVER taken at CNU. No textbook, only gives Powerpoints with summaries of information, but expects you to know every detail of the material. Unfair grader with unclear and confusing instructions. Is very negative and does not help you when you ask for help. Do not take this class!!!!!!!
She is VERY understanding of life outside of class. If you have other things going on, she is very flexible and generous with deadlines. Very kind and makes research methods not as boring, without killing you with work and 3 hour lectures. Gives class time to complete "lab" assignments.
