She is one of my favorite professors at IVC. She is very friendly and bubbly, and excited about the subject. She grades fairly and has very reasonable expectations and is always willing to help you understand something.
she is a little bet hard in summer , she curves but with berkley students say goodbye to your grades , beside get ready to understand 99999999999999999999 milion words in one second.
she talks fast , she gave us 13 essay questions to study and only one is going to be in th test, quizes are every week , and include oral reports 2 boks , note and handouts . hard to get an a , but she says most get a c or less in her class !
I don't understand her grading methods. She reads quizes and gives people grades like 2.5/30 or 4.5/30. I think class average was like 10/30.
Very good PoliSci instructor, took her summer class. Class was difficult and curved, however I worked hard and came out near the top of the curve with an A. Throws lots of new vocabulary at you, and there are essays and a verbal presentation required.
She is extremely hard on papers. Well written essays get about a C average. Quizes every week. Overall good teach, but pretty tough
Don't take her if you want an easy "A". She is a good teacher, but you have to put forth effort to get a good grade in the class. She likes it when you email her for help with essay questions etc. She also does talk fast....glad I have a lapt
She's really big on attendance. You will do fine on her quizzes if you study the notes she gave in class (remember to write extra things she says down), but you can't just read from the book, do study guide, and get an A/B. Bring lap top. STUDY NOTES!
She is a caffine addict & tends to talk kind of fast, so it's sometimes hard writing notes, especially if you're trying to listen to her at the same time. Always adds extra info in the lectures, so don't miss classes. At least she keeps students awake. She also helps you a lot when you ask.
She does not make it easy, but you can get an "A" if: 1- Do a lot of Extra Credit 20 points or more, 2-Do at least "C" in her Midterm, 3-Do your best on the final, 4- Don't worry if you mess up the quizzes 5- take a lot of notes 6- write down her notes on the board, and 7- read the book throughly.
Know political science. Great teacher. Very challenging. Didn't agree with her policital views, that she expressed so often, but overall was a great experience. Learned alot! If you're looking for an easy A, not the class to take. But if you're looking to learn PoliSci, definitley take her!
I dont know anything about our govt and dont care about it at all. Her class was extremely hard for me, since I was not at all into it. I failed almost all the tests, well I ended the semester with a D. Prof Chang was very nice and helpful when I missed class. She passed me with a C. Thanks.
she is great. i took her class but then i had to drop it because of my scheduls chnged. i truly loved her class i wish i could have finished the class with her. she is a very interesting person and very very smart. take it with her. she is very helpful and nice lady.
DO NOT take her class. In my class she went through at least 6-10 pages of notes a night. She talks so fast that you can't hardly keep up, even if you are typing! If you want to learn Political Science it is a good class, but not an easy A. Chapter reading is a necessary evil in her class so is being at every class. Study guide is helpful as well.
Summer class moves way too fast. TONS of notes, quizzes on reading, oral presentation, mid&final. She talks too fast & then goes on 1/2 hr tangents. I felt like I was expected to know a lot about world affairs already, which was intimidating. The majors loved her, though. Know your stuff before taking this class! btw, ignore the HOT ratings!
She is very difficult. She talks so fast that oftens she gets out of breath. I am dropping her class before even the midterm. Watch out for the quiz's.
I loved this over-caffeinated gal. Summer Students- Warning: Carpal Tunnel Is In Your Future. I took the class last summer. Tremendous amount of note taking. Tests, quizzes include tons of info from class notes. Midterm/Final Essays? Oy! Dios Mio! Grades on a curve. Offers X-tra cred. Loved her enthuasism and energy. I got an "A" by the way.:)
She is so hyper lol! you'll never get bored in this class. Extremely helpful and friendly.
she was fine and helpful . but political is not a easy class , if you dont have to take it, forget it fotever , specially for essays, but she is always in your side and will be your study partner is you ask her.
I love her! I was a high school student going into senior year with not previous political science class and I ended up getting an A! You need to read what you are supposed to read or this class will not be easy. A lot of writing, but it was fine.
super nice teacher. She's just so cool that you have to take her. Quizzes are alright, tests are not hard if you study, questions come off from the text and notes directly. Very helpful, she's just very easy going!
I took her in the Summer... It was a lot of information and so much writing. But if you come to class and know your material you can do well. Email her, she will help you out. I liked her overall.
Took online class. Had to go in for orientation, she seems like a real control freak or pain in the butt, but after finishing the semester with her I realize she wasn't as bad as I thought at first. She is really annoying in person, so I do recommend taking the class online. Class wasn’t that hard, you just have to make a weekly time commitment. I
I was intimidated at first but I studied hard and showed up for class religiously. I was able to pass the class with flying colors. Good Teacher! Just need to be dedicated.
Diane is an Amazing teacher. She keeps the class interesting with stories, but you must be prepared to write, a lot. Her class is tough, but if you want to learn about government this is the class for you. Definitely not an easy A, but I got one with a little effort.
Dianne is a really sweet person. She REALLY loves her job and she is always excited to be in class and to be teaching. Her love of gov't maybe strong but its great to see her passion. It's a hard class and I was amazed I got a B. There are quizzes at least once a week and she lectures for the whole class. Come to class, work hard, and you will pass
Professor Chang's class was very interesting. There were A LOT of notes though. You must attend class everyday to do well. I would say her class was pretty hard but she is there to help you whenever you need it. Work hard, and you'll pass.
Professor Chang's class was very interesting. There were A LOT of notes though. You must attend class everyday to do well. I would say her class was pretty hard but she is there to help you whenever you need it. Work hard, and you'll pass.
I took this class to fulfill a requirement for my university. By far Diane is the best professor I ever had.She is ridiculously knowledgeable and energetic. Lots of quiz - mult. choice and a final consisting of an essay and mult choice .Class isn't hard at all . At most tedious but manageable. Not a class for slackers.
Dianne really cares about political science and is very passionate about what she does. She's extremely helpful and if you are willing to work she's willing to help you out. Not an easy A at all but if you are willing to take ten pages of notes a class and study you can get an A and learn alot! I wouldnt recommend if you dont like poli sci though.
she's amazing! she's so full of energy, always willing to help, and makes the subject so interesting. i loved her class and would suggest everyone to take it!
great teacher! probably the best ivc has to offer! explains well, very very nice lady, makes every topic interesting. she is just a interesting lady, find a reason to take her a couple of times! not easy though, but worth the hard work
i absolutely loved professor chang's class. she really prepares her students for what lies ahead after transferring to a university. it's not hard at all if you show up to class, pay attention (which is easy cause she's so full of energy!), and do the assigned reading. would highly recommend this class!
If YOUR LOOKING FOR AN EASY ''A'' this isnt the class. She is full of information and you will always learn something new every class.. Ateendence is a must! she grades very hard, talks real fast..be prepared to fill your entire notebook full of notes.barely passed with a C. class started off with about 40 students and at the end there was only 18
I'm sitting in her class right now...shoot me! It is one thing to keep a class interesting by being energetic, but holy smokes. She goes way over the top with everything she says and is by far the most annoying teacher I have ever experienced. She has A LOT of information but oh lord she needs to tone it down just a smidgen.
Honestly, the people who dislike her don't belong in college. She prepares you so well for university-level courses, even if your major isn't political science. She cares so much about her students and she's just a fascinating woman. One of the best professors at IVC and I'd highly recommend taking her if you actually want to LEARN and do well.
She's a great professor with a lot of energy. If you e-mail her she will respond to your questions right away. I went into this class expecting a tremendous amount of work, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. PS isn't my major, but now I am more interested in the subject and feel as though I've learned a lot from taking this class.
She is a very good teacher, but her class is not easy. There's a LOT of note-taking and the quizzes and exams are difficult. I'm telling you, if you are looking for an easy A, this class isn't for you. She's very nice and helpful and gives extra credit opportunities and curves the grade. I learned a lot in her class, but somehow ended up with a C.
hey kids, if you can't handle Chang, then good luck making it in a four year university. Yeah, she goes really fast and has a lot of info, but she gives us more than enough chance to score an A. Highly recommended.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER.
Professor Chang is awesome!! She makes class very up-beat and interesting!! She even has experience at UCI which tells you she is an experienced professor. she is very dedicated in her profession and she wants to help you as much as she can!Pay attention, come to class study and youll do great! People that dont like her are slackers!!!!
Dianne Chang is kind of awesome. She has TONS of energy and passion. You take a lot of notes and learn a lot more information than you get tested on, but it works out in the end. If you pay attention and go to class, you will no doubt do very well.
OH WOW! she is intense!! this class is NOT for slackers! you must show up for every single class and study real hard for the quizzes and exams! Her exams are hard but she grades them fairly. She gives you ample chances to ask her questions about the final so you can do well! If you can't handle her you seriously won't be able to handle college.
the WORST professor ever! EXTREMELY hard, expects soo much, she says her test are hard and she doesnt care...she tells people they are going to fail! trust me! only take her if school is ur life but if u have a hard time with school dont waste ur time!
This teacher is absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed every minute of her class and learned so much. Yeah, you have to take notes diligently in class and pay attention. So what? It's college! Take her class! She's the best.
Professor Chang is very knowledgeable! She really knows her stuff!Attendance is mandatory. There are ALOT of notes to take, keep up!Offers x-credit.Always very helpful. You will learn ALOT in this class!! But you have to stay on track, pay attention to lectures and read the chapters! She makes you earn your grade! Over-all, great teacher!
This class was very, very inspirational for me. I'm a Business major, yet have never cared for political views. She changed that. Her class is very easy IF YOU PAY ATTENTION. As others have stated, it is NOT for slackers. Study before each quiz, study HARD for the midterm and final, and you're set. Always attend, and always take notes.
Chang is not hard. You can get an A in her class, all you have to do is take notes, don't worry about the overheads write down what she says. She offers extra credit but doesn't use blackboard and never gives out her notes you must write them all your self. Shes inconsistent, if you have the chance to take another professor do it, if not take Chang
Professor Chang is wonderful! She is one of my favorite teachers of all time. Pay close attention in her class because it is not easy. Study hard! She is bubbly and fun though so you won't get bored.
She's Pretty awesome as a professor and knows her stuff but you better pay attention and actually do the work or you're gonna do not so well, but who cares thats college right? She's funny and very liberal, which is awesome for OC.
great professor! her class is a little tough and the midterms and finals are a little stressful, but overall she does teach the material on her exams very thoroughly. im taking her again for another poli-sci course and would not want another professor. pay attention, study when you need to, and youll pass with an A. awesome professor.
She is a nice lady but a very hard grader. Seems to be unclear on what she wants, goes off topic. Will you never be let off early from her class, she no stop talks the whole class time. Lots of studying and reading the text book and knowning all the notes perfectly.
political science 1. if you like overhead projections taking tedious notes that go on and on then take her. she talks FOREVER starts class early, hands out the roll sheet b4 class starts. her test are hard and grades harder. 8 study questions expects you to know 1 extremely well which is dumb. overall she sucks you will regret taking her!!! :)
She talks a LOT, and VERY quickly. Uses old-fashioned overhead projection, and doesn't but ANY of the slides online for study. She goes through the LONG slides, VERY quickly, giving you little-to-no time to take good notes. Constant quizes/tests, and she is a tough/bad/hard grader. Terrible.
One of my favorite teachers if not my favorite. I learned more in her class than I have in any other class. You learn more than you expect to when you enter this class because she teaches you things that a textbook could never teach. If you are a republican you probably shouldn't take her class. Hard class but you learn a lot.
If you're not interested in poli sci at all it will probably be a difficult course. Prof Chang is really helpful and extremely willing to answer questions and emails. Lectures are tedious but taking good notes is important b/c she doesn't post them on blackboard. She is very high energy and eccentric but fun.
Class is not hard but not easy. Going to class is vital to getting an A or B, since she covers topics that aren't always included in the textbook. I guess you could get by not attending class, but its much harder. She's an interesting professor, very lively. Getting an A is not difficult in the class if you put in an okay amount of effort.
Professor Chang is very passionate about the subject. Her enthusiasm is contagious- it's difficult not to get excited about the world and political science during class. Reading the book and attendance are very helpful, per usual. There were plentiful opportunities for extra credit. Sometimes chatty, yet always informative.
Her class is extremely hard, she teaches like a UCI professor (because she is one). I wouldn't recommend taking it if PS isn't your subject and you need an A. However, she is extremely nice, passionate about PS, and you will learn quite a bit about the world if you show up to class. Also offers multiple extra credits if you need it.
I highly don't recommend this teacher if you don't major in the subject. Her lectures are mostly filled with material that is not on your tests. She speaks very quickly about other subjects as you copy her overhead notes. Dont like the class at all.
OMG!..... She lets you know what to expect from the first class.... It's not that she is hard, or that the class is not interesting (for me at least), but that she speaks really fast, and talks about other things between the lecture, which made me dizzy. =) She expects a lot from the students...I wouldnt re-take the class, but I have too ! =(
She thrusts UC-like curriculum at you, rants on her beliefs, and on top of that her exams and notes are dreadful. Her notes are not like that in the book's, and her exams troll you, going over barely covered subjects. Her oral reports are easy but she has been the wost teacher I have ever had.
Lectures fast, be prepared to take nonstop notes! I really liked her, she has high energy and loves PS. I learned a lot from the lecture, the textbook wasn't really needed that often. There's a lot of material but its interesting and she explains everything. Pretty straightforward class: quizzes, 2exams, and 1 paper (or presentation). Take her!
Best teacher ever! It is a hard class so be prepared! She tells you what she wants from the beginning so if you don't do well in the class, that's because of you. I learned a lot and she is very passionate about what she teaches, but she lectures fast, so be prepared to take lots of notes and fast! There are quizzes after every chapterand essays too
Absolutely loved this class, the only thing is that at the end of a unit, there's an essay. And she gives you many questions that could be the essay questions, but only chooses one.So you are automatically forced to know how to answer all of them when you are only going to need to know 1.If you study, take notes and listen to her, you should be fine
Prof Chang is probably one of the most genuinely helpful people I've ever met. She truly cares that you understand the content and will help you no matter what. She's informative, passionate, a little goofy, and will be very blunt about the reality of her subject. HIGHLY recommend.
You will need to use the text book for quizes and the essays. I would suggest bringing a laptop to copy the notes verbatim as it will come handy during the midterm and final when you will be tested on about 12 essay prompts. She is very helpful and answers emails quick and is very passionate about her subject which is nice! Take her class!
She's very helpful and nice! She grades on a curve, quizzes are very easy. As long as you study for the midterm and final, you're golden!
She's so sweet and is very willing to help everyone! Study your butt off for the tests. 2 tests in 2 parts, essay and multiple choice. She assigns 10-15 essay questions that you have to fully memorize and only asks you one. Offers extra credit opportunities at UCI. Easy. Go!
this teacher is by far the hardest teacher ive ever had. theres no homework, but your grade is based off the quizes and tests. if she didnt make us memorize a bunch of essay questions to then test us on just one.. then she would be cool. i respect how passionate she is about her job but honestly, SAVE YOURSELF AND TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE.
She is a great teacher who is very intrested in Political Science, and is very knowledgeable in the subject! Granted there is a lot to study, but she helps you a lot and her lectures are very clear to understand. make sure you are in class everyday as she gives out quizzes, but the quizzes really help your grade. She's awesome!
Professor Chang is always enthusiastic about her subject and will absolutely help you in anything you have questions on! She responds to emails faster than most professors. Poly Sci can be confusing, but as long as you read and study the exam questions she gives you, you're guaranteed to pass.(: Remember to read, because all for all her quizzes!
Decent professor other than that she screams randomly and calls on you too much if she knows you. She's waayy too enthusiastic and her liberalness can confuse you. Her tests have multiple choice and essay but the mc is worthless . She got in trouble at UCI for not keeping her hands to herself in class and that's why she works here lolol.
-She gives lots of extra credit -Gives essay questions extremely early before midtermfinal -QuizsTests are primarily from lecture and some from book -Lectures are all words (Good for auditory listeners) -Lectures take up most of the class -Energetic and always answers emails (Eager to help) Excellent teacher and somewhat easy
Diane is a very excited professor. You can tell she's happy to be teaching here. She's easy to understand, though sometimes her lecture "powerpoint" (a word document) is difficult to understand due to organization. Grade consists of quizzes (about every other week), a midterm, and a test. Attendance might get you extra credit.
Diane Chang is a very kind and good professor at IVC. Quizzes were easy but the midterm and final exam was difficult because you have to memorize many essay questions. But other than that it is an interesting course and you just have to put ALOT of effort into getting an excellent grade. She also offers extra credit.
Super helpful and nice person. She does not do make up quizzes though. Her tests are OK - if you study enough. Essay Questions are the hardest part, she wants LOTS of details. Would take her again, and I plan to in the fall.
Even though I gave her a high rating I did not like this prof at all. She is extremely inflexible about making exceptions. Her class is straight forward, just listen to the lecture and you will do fine if you remember what she says. She is the overly friendly type of person where she treats her students as if they are her gossip buddies.
Professor Chang, is a TOUGH grader if you are lazy and do not plan to study you should not take her! I studied a lot for her class and I had an 89% B+ going into the final and she said I got a D on the final though I am certain I did not, she ended up dropping my grade to a C+ which is definitely inaccurate.... Do not ever skip her class!!!!!!!!
She was so nice and a very good lecturer! Only tests are quizzes, midterm, and final, You do have to memorize many essay questions and she asks you one on the final. Make flashcards! She is very enthusiastic and makes the lecture interesting, you learn a lot. Pay attention, quizzed based off what she says. One oral report and essay. Super easy.
I took her for both PS4 and PS1 in the same semester. She's a good teacher as long as u attend class, review your lecture notes, and keep up with the reading. Always responds to emails, and gives u essay questions ahead of time so you can study it (although there are a lot). Offered to write me a letter of rec for IVC Honors Program. Def recommend
The class is quite simple if you attend all the lectures, study from your notes along with reading the chapters. There are about 5 quizzes that are fairly simple if you study well. Along with a research paper based of your choice on a current event. Super chill teacher and funny!
Took PS1 as a high school senior and got an A. As long as you copy her lecture notes, you'll be good for the quizzes, midterm, and final. Write practice responses to the essay questions from your notes. I barely skimmed the book before the quizzes. Only 1 paper and 1 oral presentation (5 min) on a current event. She also offered extra credit, easy.
This class is a really good class to take in 8 weeks. You'll have quizzes more often (about 6) but you won't forget anything because it was so recent.
okay so let me tell you professor Chang is HARD ! i mean you have to memorize essay questions for the final and midterm ! but if you can memorize this will be an easy class for you. I recommend taking her for 8 week course because theres little time for you to forget the information. 1 paper 1 current event presentation mid term n a final.
My favorite professor in my college academic career thus far. Very lecture heavy and quizzes every other week. Her lectures are engaging and fun.
This was the 8-week courses so it was pretty difficult to retain all the information she would teach us every day. I never really paid attention in high school when it came to history and whatnot so I did have to put in the extra effort to get a good score. She's really sweet and does teach a lot.
She isnt easy at all. Quizzes on all chapters, but not accumulative tho. Midterm and final are the same way. 40 multipleQs, 1 essay. She gives essay Qs so early, so we can prepare. One each test, She picks 3 essay Qs, and you choose 1. one thing is that possible final essay Qs are 10, whereas midterm is 5. So need work harder on final. very doable.
This class is fantastic. I had zero knowledge or care for politics but I now find it fascinating. If you need to take PS, TAKE THIS CLASS, interest in it or not, Diane will make it the best it can be! Tests are tough but the text is explained in such a clear way, and you will leave with an understanding of what is happening in our society.
Professor Chang is great! Yes her class is tough, you can't miss class, you have to memorize essay answers for midterm and final, but her grading method is very clear. All you need to do for the quizzes is listen to her lectures and read the chapter. She gives extra credit throughout the course and really wants you to succeed. Definitely recommend!
She doesn't seem intelligent and often goes off on political tangents. She has the class formatted so participation is impossible. There is no way to discuss political topics or share ideas as the entire class is based on lecturing. She is so one sided that if your project goes against the orthodox, she won't even understand what you are conveying.
I went into her class excited to learn about the subject and was completely turned off by the end of this course. During lecture she speaks at you and is unpleasant to sit through. Tests, Quizzes, and almost all other due dates get moved around constantly, she does not input grades electronically, and for exams, just have to read the entire book.
genuinely do not understand how she has gotten positive feedback as a professor. for an intro course she expects a lot of students, goes off on tangents constantly meaning material is covered much more slowly than it should be, & tests are always moved around. if you are able to avoid having her, do yourself a favor and look for a different prof.
It was an OK class, she talks a lot and drifts off (mainly something about conservatives, I stopped listening) You can't miss assignments or class, it will hurt your grade. In her class you will only get the grade equal to amount of work you put in. so if you are taking this class with a bunch of other more important classes, it will be hard.
She is so caring and educated on poli sci! She means well always, though her lecture slides are hard to follow visually. Her lectures are fun & interesting & she wants you to do well. There are quizzes & exams, but she tells you how to study for them. You need to listen to her lectures & read the book to do well on quiz/exams. So fun, funny & nice!
Amazing professor! She definitely has a passion for what she is teaching and is caring. Although, she can be fast paced when lecturing especially with her power point slides. Quizzes and exams can be easy if you put in the effort into studying, plus she tells you how to study for them. Essay questions on the exams are the hardest!
She wasn't the best nor was she the worse. She was really helpful and answered any questions you had. But she is also a very tough grader. Your essay questions need to be exactly like what she lectures or in the book. She offers extra credit, enough to boost your grade. Try not to take PS1 in 8 weeks.
Honestly, this class was not treated as an introductory class. She says she grades with a UC grading style, & she pretty much picks favorites too. Her lectures are messy and she drifts off too much. She is sweet and helpful but this class is not worth it and not an easy A at all. Quizzes, oral report, report paper, map quiz, 2 part midterm & final.
Try not to take this class in summer. I am a second language speaker. I never know anything about American policy. It was a nightmare for me, quiz every week, an 8+ pages paper, a political speech, tough essay mid-term and final(green book). Some extra credit in the final can help your grade. Yeah, I passed. If you want to pass, get up at 6 am ;)
Professor Chang is a great professor and I def recommend taking her. Her lectures are long due to a lot of material to cover but very engaging. She curves everything and there is a ton of extra credit! Attend every class! She picks a day at end of semester and if you were in class on the day she picks she gives you 5 EC points just for being there!
Professor Chang makes us to work for our grades. She offers lots of extra credits and for the written portion of the exam, she goes over the answer during her class session. Also, there is an oral report, and the oral report is based on current event. Also, she curves everything, so try to be on top of curve and you will get 100% on this class.
She's enthusiastic & supportive but TOUGH GRADER. Tips: Show interest, email her questions - she loves it, just re-read the chapters in order to ace test. There's no point in using flashcards just read. Make sure your oral report essay has all the criteria, she'll mark down points. Honestly if you take her, Good Luck. Do the extra credit!!
She's an amazing professor who is truly passionate about what she teachs. It is very easy to get a good grade in this class as long as you complete the assignments, pay attention to her lectures, and do the practice quizes from the online site. It's a very fun and easy class and there is truly nothing negitive that I can say about this professor.
Prof. Chang is very sweet and caring, but if you don't do the assignments on time or correctly there is no room for error. Just ask for help before it's due and she's happy to help. Not super stimulating for poli sci majors though, very surface level material and little critical thinking.
Easy class as long as you show up and study the lecture notes. Quizzes after each chapter, oral + written report, midterm, and final make up the grade. LOTS of extra credit. Lectures can be long and drawn out, so typing the notes may be best, since she moves through them quickly.
Honestly one of the worst professors I've ever had. She's not interesting in her lectures at all, can be quite condescending towards political opinions that don't match up with her own moderate perspective, and is super unreasonable. She assigns an insane amount of useless work, has way too many quizzes, and likes to give 2 midterm/2 finals.
Because of the new crown virus, her course was changed to an online class. This class is very difficult. The exam has 20 questions in 20 minutes, no worksheet, no study guide, no zoom meeting, and only notes. When you want to drop from the class she wouldn't let you do it. Don't choose her for this class.
Worst professor that I ever took I hope that she gets fired and if you do not want a racist professor then do not take that old crazy lady.
She seemed really nice and then also seemed like she could ruin your life in a blink of an eye. Her voice is a bit annoying at first. She types out everything on a document and then refuses to share it with anyone. So make sure to copy everything down. Attendance is mandatory. And the exams are hard wouldn't take her again.
Worst professor I have ever had. I did well on the quizzes and exams because I studied, but the essay questions on the exams I did terribly. I would write EXACTLY what she would tell us to write in response to the essay questions and still got them wrong. Her feedback sucked. Go for someone else.
Lectures are in a word document format and lengthy. Frequent quizzes based 50% off lecture and 50% off readings from the book so if you're looking to do well you're going to have to read each chapter. Insane midterm and final essay questions, you will be given around 20 possible essay questions and she will pick 3 on the day of to respond to 1.
She is one of the most difficult professors I have ever had. Although she may be best in class, she does not connect with students unless you E-mail her. She only gives you 2 days to write notes and they are at least 53 pages long per topic. I feel like I didn't know much in that class.
this is my first class to me with her the only issue I have for online class that she request internship outside with credit , So unfortunately I explain to her I couldn't do it for ( critical) situation I have But she answer me by email I cant do it and as what I See the internship important to her So I drop it and thank god find another class
Took PS 4 b/c was interested in poly sci. Professor does not use zoom, and there is an essay (you can only communicate via email). Would recommend not taking this professor until the college reopens more on-premise classes so you can communicate with her about progress more easily. No tolerance policy for turning in assignments late.
Worst professor, to have! A lot of busy work, in general shes bad!
Only have two days to take notes from her lectures before she removes them, then she wont share them with anyone. Gives 15 final essay questions, you must prewrite the answer to all of them since there is not enough time during the final to respond to your designated one (you only turn in one, so the other 14 are wasted). Find a better teacher.
The professor has this thing when they have a set time when the lecture unlocks and it only stays unlocked for about 48 hours. If you miss the lectures, you can't even get the notes from the professor themselves and you'll need one of your friends or classmates to give you the notes. Very unclear on the grading criteria for essays.
Has this super annoying policy of deleting notes after 48 hours from Canvas. She is also extremely finnicky when grading essays. The multiple choice quizzes and midterm/final are pretty simple if you study, but be prepared for Cs and Ds on essay portions if you don't meet her exact criteria, which she does a very vague job of outlining.
Overall, she is not a good professor. Very vague lectures, goes on tangents often. Deletes recorded lectures off canvas for some reason after 48 hours. Has unrealistic expectations for essay tests and overall is just not a good professor. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANY CLASSES.
She is very opinionated and will spew her political views. (teach me the work, dont pursuade my opinion). she makes you learn from 16 essays and only selects 3 on final. questions on final are poorly-written (3-4 errors per test), she speed runs last 3 ch since she runs out of time. you need both lecture and textbook to pass (different materials)
I took Professor Chang's PS 4 class in the fall and she was a great Professor. This course does need to have effort put in, but is very manageable. The material in the book and her lectures are cross referenced, and make it incredibly easy to study for the tests. Her lectures are clear and thorough and are mirrored in her tests.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND taking this professor. No study guides for exams! Goes on tangents. Everyone in class was lost & stressed. She forgot the midterm one time and had students take an oral exam. Everyone's faces looked shocked and stressed. She creates a hostile environment where students compete against one another for an A. WORST PROF I'VE HAD!
This professor's class is quite easy, and she gives clear directions and great advices. I 100% recommend taking her because she helps you prepare for a legit college life, not high school. All my classmates in the spring 23 sem were not even trying properly and they were blaming the prof for their own poor academic skills. Study, and you'll get A+.
Professor Chang is a pretty good professor as she takes pride in teaching. I admire her for getting to know her students by conversating with them initially. My only complaint is that the 2 exams can be a little stressful as you are given 12 essay prompts to study for and only 3 can show up. Regardless, a great introduction to political science!
Overall, I think she's good. Take note that late submission is strictly not allowed. At the start of semester I did bad on the quizzes but still managed to pull my grades up to an A from mid term and finals. Normally, the workload is not much but for mid terms and finals we need to memorize lots of essays. Basically, if you study you can do well.
Professor Chang: minimal homework, extra credits. Lecture-heavy, tough grading (comparative). Not for slackers or first-semester students. Students are graded against each other, no def. rubric. Don't recommend for slackers or first semester students.
The class has a decent workload, but with some effort and using helpful resources like unstuck study for study prep, you can do well. Attendance is mandatory, so make sure to engage with the material. Overall, it's a manageable class if you put in the work.
This professor was super funny and very easy going. Keep in mind that late work is STRICTLY not allowed she won't accept under any circumstance and you go to class and take notes or you know someone in there to give them to you cause she doesn't post them. Quizzes on every chapter and a midterm and final where she has MC and essay questions. STUDY!
One of the professors that I will keep in contact for the rest of my life, you can email her about anything, life or academic related and she would respond back asap! No lieniency on deadline (she let you know). A lot of memorization (as many other Political Science classes), take note on lecture and read the textbook and you'll have an easy A.
This woman is on a power trip who uses her position to assert her dominance through trivial things like being late 1 minute or would shame those who didn't bring scantrons. Her lack of knowledge of US History is really appalling considering she teaches poli sci. She has the worst case of Trump obsession and complains about him at every lecture.
PS 1 is not hard if you attend class, do the readings and study for the quizzes and tests. She is very quick to answer emails and help students. One of the most helpful teachers I have had so far at school.
If you're even a minute late she will write you in as absent for the day. You HAVE to read textbook. She rambles the entire lecture and she will be speed reading the last three chapters towards the end of the semester because she runs out of time. I had an A+ in the course and she dropped it to a C after my final essay. RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN!
Only teacher I know who doesn't use power point lectures - Thank God. Talks about current events. Take notes, read the textbook, go to class, study and you will do well. Extra credit for coming to class, extra credit on midterms and final. Always willing to help.
One of the worst professors I've had at IVC—disgusting. She grades students' exams by comparing them to one another rather than using a clear rubric. For the final, there were 12 essay questions we were expected to study; she included only 3 on the exam, and we had to answer one. She expected each essay response to be at least 4–5 pages long. Crazy
Nice lady but she is not a very good lecturer. Her lecture slides are just a bunch of poorly-written Word document pages. Her test questions are also weirdly worded and are filled with typos. Her grading system for essays is also strange, where she grades your essay against other students', making the criteria a bit unclear.
