Good teacher but you have to read all the chapters. She's very interesting and the class time goes by very fast.

This woman is nice, but hard. But she is probably the HOTTEST teacher here.
She definately knows her stuff, but you have to read the chapters of the book and not count on lecture notes only
Dr. Cook really knows her stuff. Her tests are hard as she gives part essay and part multiple choice. Give all the details you can when answering essay questions and by all means READ YOUR TEXTBOOK!!! Alot of the questions on the test come from the textbook.
Dr. Cook is a good teacher. Her teaching style is slightly different than the norm. Her examples are educational, entertaining, and easy to recall on tests. The only people I would not recommend her to are those looking for an easy A.
Great teacher. Lectures are entertaining, but tests are difficult- You do have to pay attention and COME to class - Serious students need only to apply- She is certainly the most attractive teacher on campus -
lectures are great and very informative. tests are very very difficult. must read and re-read book and notes. she is very funny! the project is fun and not too difficult. if you make a "c" in her class, that is like a "b" in another due to her toughness. serious students only!
one of the hardest teachers i have ever taken. not for people who dont like reading. but when you leave her class even with a c, you are GLAD you took it bc you actually learn something. she is halleriouse too!
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT! Trust me.
Dr. Cook is by far one of the hardest professors i have taken. her tests are very detailed and everything requires memorization. her class is definatly not for the ppl who come onve every week, you must come every single day to pass. as hard as she is, i had SUCH A GOOD TIME in her class. TAKE HER!!
Dr. Cook is awesome and I am not just saying this because I got an A. I worked my BUTT off in this class. You have to read the chapters and go over the notes. My strategy was to read the chapter first then, go over the notes for the chapter.Do the potential essay questions last.Great Professor!
She was incredibly hard, but was so helpful.
She is VERY hard!! She takes a "do- it- yourself" approach to the class. The tests ask specific questions and there is too much info covered in one test.
dr. cook is awesome. she really cares about her students which is rare!
You will work, you will learn, you will laugh. If every psychology professor was this good, I would change my major. A+++
She is an awesome teacher. She has a lot of funny stories that relate to the chapters. You have to read and keep up with the nots. Also do the essay questions before the tests! They help. She is really hard but a really good teacher!
Really interesting, makes you do work, but it is not too hard. Very good class.
Dr. Cook is awesome! She is so nice and very smart. She explains everything very well and will answer any questions. She is very fair and her tests are good. I am taking her again.
Dr. Cook is Super. Really takes interest in her students. Answers any question you may have if it is class material or not. Has great stories that relate to the class material. I am taking her again this semester.
I love Dr. Cook. She let us decide the format of class and of her tests. She makes the lessons very interesting and relatable to everyday situations. Her class is very interesting. Tests aren't bad, as long as you do the study sheets. Pay attention to her stories in class, because she asks extra credit questions on the tests about them.
I love her as a person. She is very funny and has a story that can relate to anything. My only problem is that her tests are HARD! The tests are over 4 chapters at a time (250 Pages) that you have to read over and over to get at least a B. She only goes over about 1/3 of the test material in class. Unless you like reading, DONT take her
Great teacher. The class is hard, but her examples and visuals help a lot. She always keeping the class interesting and almost fun.
VERY HARD!! if she does not like you, your grade will reflect that!!! (its never a good thing when a teacher tells you that she graded your test while she was driving to Athens, and forgot it in her car!!!) Talks very fast and blows thru the things that are on the test and lingers on the superfluous material.
Very good teacher.
I enjoyed the class at the beginning but it became a little monotonous at the end. You definitely have to read the book to do good on the test because the study guide she gives is not very helpful. Overall I enjoyed the class.
Class is hard but very interesting. To do well, you must study the powerpoints and read the book. The study guide does not help that much. Use the examples in class (those are on the exams.) She does give a few extra credit points that will help your final grade. Be prepared to work hard for a good grade. It is worth it if you want to teach!
This class in very hard if you don't like to read. You HAVE to read the book to pass!! She doesn't give much extra credit. Study guides aren't too helpful, but I would suggest doing them. Test are HARD!!
She has a great sense of humor. Her tests are a little difficult. I learned so much in her class that I could later apply to other classes. This is not an easy class, so be prepared to study. She does make the class fun and very enjoyable though. If you get the chance, I would highly recommend you take one of her classes.
Dr. Cook is tough, but she's a good professor, and you'll learn alot. Her tests are pretty difficult, although they mostly come from the book. Lectures are always interesting. She can be quite animated, which makes them all the more fun
Dr. Cook is an outstanding teacher! Read the book, pay attention in lecture, ask questions if you need help and you will do well in a challenging, but very entertaining class. She has a great sense of humor and makes class worth attending. She is very willing to help those who need clarification.
READ your book, study your notes and give this class 150% of your time and effert and you might pass with a C. She is HOT, tells good stories, and make lecture fun, but her test are very hard! Many A students get C's or below in her class. I did.
Come to every class and pay attention 100% and take very very good notes, and the tests are manageable. Coming to class isn't a chore at all because she's entertaining and very thorough. I love her! She's one of my favorite teachers. And she teaches this class very well. I've learned so much about LIFE, not just useless textbook facts.
Horrible professor. May seem nice in front of the class, but one on one she is not helpful and never answers your questions clearly. Hardest class I have taken at Gainesille. You have to put 200% into the class or you will fail or barely pass with a C and you HAVE to read your book. Tests are ridiculous.
I spent 5-7 hr/day just reading for this class. The rate at which she pushes makes it impossible to learn the subject material. She is one of those professors that simply does not help you/answer Qs. Chooses very poor texts. She also left us at the end of the sem w/a less than qualified fill in, but still graded us as harshly & again wouldn't help.
I loved this class and Dr. Cook! But don't get me wrong, you'll have to try in this class! Dr. Cook knows her stuff and loves what she does. Her stories are the best, they all have a way of tying in real life events with things you need to know and understand. Take her if you are interested in psychology and understand it pretty well. Loved her!
No question, she is tough. You really have to read and stay on top of things or it will leave you behind. Her lectures are very interesting, and she always has good examples of concepts, and if you're ever unclear on something, she is always willing to help. She's good enough to make me take her a second time.
Dr. Cook is amazing! She's extremely sweet and funny and is great at applying complex concepts to real-world situations. She's helpful and warm outside of class and welcomes your opinions and class discussions. Her tests are difficult and you have to read the book to comprehend everything. The practice tests she post on e-learning are a great tool.
She doesn't hold your hand during the course. You are required to learn the material but if you take her practice test and listen during class you will do well. I didnt read the text but some people had to in order to understand the class. She grades kind of hard but fair. I always thought I did well on her test and was surprised by the grade.
She is very interesting and has a passion for what she teaches. You must read the book or you wont do so hot. Also her Tests are pretty tough so a little extra studying might help. Other than that, she is an excellent professor
she was a terrible teacher. She read's off the powerpoint and then tells a personal story. she is very general and her tests are very very specific. She does not prepare you well for the tests in class, you HAVE to read the book or you will fail the tests.
The class was hard but manageable. She is a great teacher who really knows her stuff. Someone stated that she just reads from power points and that is very far from the truth. She always makes class fun and interesting! Her real life stories make things easier to understand. Don't get me wrong she is tough but worth it.
Very nice, gotra pay attention and take lots of notes, but well worth it
Dr. Cook was so fun to be around. She made human growth fun. She always has a story to go along with everything. Takes lots of notes, and pay attention in class. Don't miss a day or you will be behind. Test are multiple choice but are hard.
Dr.Cook is an awesome teacher! Really knows how to explain concepts. Great stories and available for help! Hard test, but they are manageable. She does not baby students. She also wants you to pass! Take her if you want an interesting class. She is very funny!
Interesting, but very hard. I paid attention, took notes, etc. The first test came out of left field. She doesn't do a review & her study guides are too general. READ & STUDY THE BOOK, not her powerpoints. She is full of great information, but not much of is on the test. Nice & helpful. Not an easy A but most people passed.
Dr. Cook is a great professor. However, you must read every chapter in order to do well on the test and in class discussions. Did lots a of group work which I'm not a big fan of. Her test are pretty hard. She does expect a lot out of her students. Has a few out of class assignments that will help your grade out. Would take her again If I had to.
Dr. Cook is awesome. Tough, but very fair. Genuinely interested in her students success. Reading the books not such a big deal, I never did and got a B in her class. I also skipped a lot, but passed every test.
Dr. Cook is a fun teacher, but you must read the book to do well on the test. Her tests are not bad if you read, read, read. She does want you to do well. She grades her assignments fair and gives extra credit opportunities. However if you take her class through elearning you must attend class every week! Great instructor!
While her class is not easy, especially if your not interested in psychology, she is very helpful and a great instructor.
If you are familiar with the textbook terms and the information contained in her Power Points, you can definitely make an A in this class. She is friendly and helps those who need it on the side. Class time is primarily spent watching / listening to her Power Point presentations.
She is a very funny and sweet teacher but her test are hard and there is a lot of reading.
Helpful! Tests are hard, you have to read the book to make good grades on them.
Diane Cook does not encourage class discussion, as she is dead set on getting through ALL the material on the syllabus, so she talks all the way through class and uses slides. You won't make above a B- on her tests if you don't read each chapter more than once, and thoroughly. Harsh grader. Gives quizzes and essay questions on D2L material.
Overall good teacher. I wish her lectures were a bit more clear and on topic. She is very entertaining and keeps you laughing but doesn't teach the information very well. You MUST read the book cover to cover to be successful in this course. If you need help, she is definitely willing to help!
Not too bad. Just have to really read the book.
gives amazing examples and loves to tell jokes. there are daily lectures but all worth it. pop quizzes but always tells you a head of time. the textbok is used before every class at home. she literally gives you the questions that could possibly be on the test in the lecture. she will also give a lot of examples to help remember definitions & chart
Love Dr. Cook! You'll definitely want to read the book and go through all study guides to be sure you're learning all the material for tests, but I've certainly never had a problem. She encourages plenty of class discussion and keeps the class very interesting. She's also always been incredibly friendly and helpful.
Dr. Cook does an excellent job making the immense amount of information she has to teach relevant with a ton of examples so students can relate. Her course is straightforward and she doesn't load you down with crazy group projects/papers. You do have to read/study for her tests and if you do, A's are easy to obtain. Would definitely recommend her.
She expects you to do so much work in such a short period of time she makes it seem like her class is the only one that you are taking. If you have a job and are going to school don't take her if you don't have a job and just school you should do fine.
Intersting examples, no papers, and relatively easy tests if you study. Everything is very straight forward as long as you pay attention and put forth the effort. Not as easy of an A as I expected going into the course, but it wasn't bad. Solid choice for PSYC 1101.
Mrs. Cook is a good teacher. She is really nice, and she's funny. Her class does involve reading a lot from the textbook. If you don't read the textbook, don't expect to pass. She does give you the opportunity for extra credit, so take advantage of it. She takes advantage of the she has with you in class, so I do recommend to no miss class.
I could not believe how difficult her class was. Our class grade depended on 5 exams and a paper. There was no room to help your grade, if you didn't do well on the tests you pretty much didn't do well in the class. No in class extra credit opportunity, quizzes, or anything to help push grade up.
I would not recommend taking Dr. Cook for 3080 unless she was the only option. She was ridiculously strict on her grading. Her tests were extremely hard, and her study guides do not help. It was the most stressful class I have ever had as a psychology major. She is a nice woman. Her lectures are interesting, but she is the strictest grader. Avoid.
She assigns a TON of reading and quizzes. She has a few papers, which she grades harshly. She gives good feedback, though. Her lectures are super helpful and aid in taking the quizzes. Her final was easy if you filled out the study guide thoroughly.
She does fantastic lectures and uses hilarious examples. There are online quizzes for each chapter (make sure you at least skim the chapters to know where to find info for the quiz), 4 big written assignments, and a cumulative final. Get ready to put in a lot of work for this class!
Easy class. If you dont pass youre just lazy. I read the textbook for the first test and got a C. I stopped reading the textbook and focused on the PowerPoints and her notes on it and aced the rest of the tests including the final. She drops your lowest test and theres a research project at the end that will raise your entire grade by 5 points.
Dr. Cook was a really goof professor to take for human growth and development. You have a quiz for every chapter, but they're all online. 10 minutes for 10 questions. You have to read the book to really know the material, but it's not hard to pass. Two papers and a final as well. All together, she's a good professor.
Dr. Cook is a very personal professor. She keeps lectures up beat and ties in a lot of her own stories to help relate course materials to real world examples. For our class we had an online quiz for every chapter along with 2 assignments (papers). You need to read for the quizzes and put in some time on the paper. No tests in class.
She is a sweet lady but having her for this course is a pain. Theres only one test (the final) that counts for 100 points out of 390... then theres 19 online quizzes that are time specific so if youre a busy person like I was it is VERY DIFFICULT to make time to do them. There are also two papers which she grades very harshly. You HAVE to read.
Dr. Cook is a very sweet and hilarious woman. Her lectures are funny and informative however she grades really hard on the 2 papers she requires in the semester. And she only allows 10 minutes for a ten question quiz over each chapter, which in my opinion, is harder than it looks even if you read the book.
Ms. Cook is a super nice woman. Her lectures are interesting and entertaining. Her quizzes for the reading are nothing to do with lecture. She lectures over the broad stuff and the quizzes ask for specific numbers and such. I had to spend 15-20 hours just reading the text to make 70-80s on the quiz. Dont take if u have hard classes with this
She assigned online quizzes every chapter. They are ridiculously timed (10 min 10 questions) and there is no room to miss them. Great lectures though!
Professor Cook's lectures are amazing and learn a lot from her but she assigns a lot of homework. If you don't read the textbook you won't pass. Even reading the textbook, there are times where the questions are tricky! She is a tough grader when it comes to papers and the midterm... you guys have to study really hard because it counts a lot.
She was a really good professor especially given the circumstances that class was mostly online work. She didn't give out too many assignments. We had quizzes with a minute for question and the final was the same way. We also had discussion posts due every few weeks and as long as you follow her instructions you should do well in the class.
I found this class quite hard. I feel like we barely went over anything in class and the reviews itself are definitely NOT enough to pass the tests. I wish the quizzes were open all week. They open on Wednesday which was really annoying because my inperson class was on Monday. The class itself is really interesting; it's just a lot of information.
Your life can depend on you passing this class and she wont care. She teaches well but unless your making straight As on the 2 exam she gives you wont have a chance. You get a 10 min quiz every week, 4 discussions (again, make straight As so you can have a chance on doing well in the class) she refuses to offer any type of extra credit.
Nice, kind. Grades were made up of only 5 exams and 19 quizzes. Unless you are a great tester, only having quizzes/exams makes it rather difficult to improve your grade. She request a textbook and I DO recommend it! She is a great lecturer but covers A LOT of content, she does repeat some concepts to help concrete the material which is nice.
Shes sooo very kind and enjoyable but I struggled horribly in this class. I think if ur interested in early childhood/development then shes the perfect professor to take! But, its the only class I struggled immensely in. Tests are hard & *very* dependent on the book & questions are super specific/can be tricky. So nice, class is super tough.
She is very kind and easy to work with. Shes very easy to talk to and makes an effort to be very accessible to her students for questions and help with the material. The tests were fine as long as you read the book and paid attention during class. For the final paper she was very helpful and it would be difficult to not do well due to her help.
Prof. Cook really cares about students. And she is open minded to new/different ideas. Her expectations are clear, but reasonable. Work hard and she will work with you. I liked her choice of textbooks as well. She will also tell you when she is presenting material not found in the textbook but required for the tests. Be sure to check E-learning.
She teaches the class based on a PowerPoint but her tests are based on something completely different. Quizzes every week textbook is needed for the quizzes. Study guides are very broad and don't really help with the test. She cares about her students but not enough to where she would take in feedback given to her about study guides and tests.
Great lectures but doesn't really align for what she's asking for the test. We do have study guide but study guide is book base. Weekly quiz - Online 10 minutes for 10 question which is ridiculous. test has a two part - Multiple Question and Writing Assignment... again she's really great professor just her test are quite hard. Drop 1 lowest test.
I am a senior and psych major and this is by far the worst professor I have ever had. Her tests are over material that is not in the PowerPoints or book and she only gives you about half of the course materials on D2L. She has a student and a teacher version of her powerpoints and does not give you access to both. This is absurd.
she is a good teacher, and has interesting lectures. but beware her tests are based on the power points and the book. she supplies study guides but, sometimes they do not correlate with the test. her lectures are amazing, shes there to help if you need it, but the tests are hard and you need time to study.
If your learning style is solely reading a textbook u will do great. We didn't have HW/practice to prepare for tests/quizzes. A 10 min/10 Q quiz per CH(open note) which seemed to make or break my grade. Didn't feel prepared going into tests even with a study guide Since there isn't any HW to prepare for tests/Q's. MUST read everything to pass
Dr. Cook is very knowledgeable and has great, engaging lectures. Class is exam-heavy and the only things that are graded are the exams and weekly quizzes, which have a short time limit. Her lectures go over the more difficult/important topics in each chapter, but it is still very important to read the textbook to pass the exams and quizzes.
Prof. Cook was great! She is so sweet and funny and genuinely wants her students to learn. If you need any help, she encourages you to get help from her. The class grade is made up of your best 4/5 exams, and 19 10 question quizzes. She offered extra credit as well and encourages class attendance, but not mandatory. Overall, I loved her class.
Honestly, she's sweet and cares for her students. However, the class grades are made up of exams and review guides. Textbook is needed in order to answer these review guide. I would not recommend her because I was confidence with all the material until the exam. All the questions on the exams are just examples and beware for written part
She is a great lecturer and wants you to do well. The research paper is broken up into sections, so it is manageable. Final draft of your paper is hard to not do well on since you receive so much feedback. Her lower ratings seem to be due to her harder exams, but it's college- you need to read a textbook sometimes.
if you are taking hard classes this is not the course for you. there are 5 exams and module reviews. the reviews are very LONG !! the exams are hard if you do not study enough. there is also a writing portion for the exams. overall she is a great professor but she really makes this class harder than what it should be.
Dr.Cook gives amazing lectures. Her tests are HARD - 5 2 part multiple choice & written. Reading the Ch is a MUST to pass her test. 10 10 min quizzes.
She is awesome! Her class consists of only exams and module reviews. She does not offer extra credit. She drops the lowest test grade. Her lectures are so interesting, it is obvious that she has a passion for teaching psychology! Dr. Cook is very caring as well, she wants her students to do well in her class. The class is reading-heavy though!
I had Dr. Cook for two courses. She seems kind, but her tests are extremely hard. I tried four study methods and still barely passed. Her answers to questions sound helpful but don't actually clarify anything. MCQs feel like multiple answers fit, making the class overwhelming. Not a lot of grades so you have to do well on test, and paper.
She's a very knowledgeable professor and provides a lot of examples that help retain the information. As long as you pay attention and complete the module review you'll pass. I would just skim the textbook and only read the sections that were in the module reviews. If you complete the review with good information, you'll pass.
If you do the study guide and make sure to add examples to help you apply the material you will do fine. Reading is important but in my honest opinion you don't really have to read everything, just make sure you cover whatever is on the study guide
