she is a MENTAL CASE!! she has no game plan. class has beginning but no middle nor ending. she is INCONSISTENT, ALWAYS LATE and INCOHERENT. she does not REMEMBER WHAT SHE TELLS US AS FAR AS ASSIGNMENTS OR DEADLINES. get everything from her IN WRITING. if you can DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES WITH HER!!! AVOID HER AT ANY COST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. it is by far my biggest regret. i am trying to transfer and now that i made the mistake of taking her class, i will not be able to. please drop while you can, worst mistake i have ever made by not withdrawing, now im stuck with a crappy grade after i put in over 100 hours into a paper.

Professed Harper is a horrible teacher. I'm warning you... Don't take classes with her!!

She might be a decent classroom prof, but her online class was terrible. It was supposed to be an AMERICAN LIT class, but the first assignment was a VIDEO about EUROPEAN goddesses. Furthermore, she has no reservations about directly insulting the class via e-mail, something that shows a lack of class and tact. Best to avoid this one.

So unorganized and lousy. Material is mediocre at best. Worst class expreience at massbay and slaughtered my gpa.

WORST TEACHER BY FAR I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE. THIS WOMEN SHOULD BE FIRED. SHE IS EXTREMELY RUDE, SHE CONTRADICTS HERSELF AND SHE IS WAY BEYOND OPINIONATED SHE SHOVES HER OPINION IN YOUR FACE. IF YOU AREN'T EXACTLY ON THE SAME PAGE AS HER SHE DOESNT LIKE YOU. HATED THIS CLASS AND CANT STAND THIS WOMEN.

She tells you that if you don't fllow her ridiculous guidelines, you will get a bad grade, then never explains what these guidelines *are*. Constantly mixes up which class she's teaching. Refuses to help students, if they're lost it's "their fault." Complete lack of tact. Never taking a course with her again.

Syllabus is awful. She tells you to follow her way or you will get a bad grade; is not helpful at all. I asked many times what I could do to get better marks-- what she was looking for and she gave no answer.

I'm currently in her class online and am not enjoying it. I don't feel she's helpful. Instead, I think she is aloof & snide. If you regurgitate the "THE BLACK FEMALE LITERARY TRADITION" (her words) all will be well. But if you deviate from her orthodoxy or do your own critical thinking, there will be problems for you. Syllabus is very misleading

I had this professor last semester for about a total of one week. We got into a pedagogical argument about English and it was clear that this professor only wants students who need to be led and taught how to think critically. I knew it was time to transfer out when she started talk about how "True Blood" was a literary goldmine.

This prof was not only rude but does not help at all. She expects you to understand her cluster of documents posted online and did I forget to mention she is rude.

i was in both her hu105 and hu110. they were supposed to be two different courses but assigned the same things. she was absolutly no help at all and you were a online student, she would not agree to meet face to face. i dropped it only brcause of her. dont take it!

She is by far the worst professor I have ever had. She is mean to students, unclear in what she wants, and offers no explanation for her grades. I would go as far as saying she is a bully. She patronizes students. Her syllabus looks like something a 10 year old would put together. It's filled with clip art and makes no sense. STAY AWAY!

i am currently a PhD candidate; this is NOT the opinion of a frustrated student. she is AWFUL in every way. she never had a plan for guided discussions; every day she would arrive 15min late, complain for 15 min, threaten students like an idiot, start talking about things unrelated to our class and complain when we had no clue what was happening.

Do not take this professor if you're trying to maintain a decent GPA. Prior to this class I had a 3.850 GPA. I've never been good at school and finally started to succeed at MassBay. However, this was the first class I took that I regretted not dropping. She's TOO critical and I put a lot of effort into all my assignments. She's not helpful or nice

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Just saying... one of my last required courses to get my degree, and she screwed up my whole plan. UNREASONABLE expectations (5x normal coursework) - it was an online course, and I literally dropped it within the first week. Also expects students to do A LOT of (ANCIENT/unattainable) film research as well - for a LIT course!

This woman has no Idea what she is doing. I am an honor roll student, so this isn't someone who is simply frustrated at the material. She is rude, egotistical, and never reachable by phone, email or office hours. 14 REQUIRED books, INCLUDING AN ATLAS. Uses "Ture Blood" and "vampire diaries as literary sources and examples. Run as fast as you can.

Miserable woman. Believes she is smarter than everyone else but quickly shows herself to be lacking in multiple aspects that teachers should strive for. I would highly advise not taking this class unless you are willing to muddle through her gibberish and 45 page syllabus.

Do not take this class. It is impossible to find out what she wants, she will not meet you to discuss things, condescending, and her entire online course is a jumbled mess of weeds with no clear path. Syllabus is 50 pages of nonsense. That's right 50 freakin pages on a syllabus and she wonders why people have a hard time following it. shes pathetic

I went to Boston college and took this course as a transfer credit because it was cheaper i have a 3.7 and i got a C in this class. I put in so much effort at least 10 hours a week and i still did bad. My suggestion don''t take her class. I emailed her for advice on one of my papers and she emailed me back that it wasn''t worth her time to help me.

This professor is unorganized, rude, moody, egotistic, unhelpful. But most of all, she contradicts herself in every way possible. Do not take her class if you are interested in finding a great instructor who knows how to teach.

Avoid this teacher. She isn't clear with her directions and several times posted assignments with only 2 days in advance of due date instead of the week she promised. She disappeared twice for more than 2 weeks without posting content because she was too busy with other obligations. Students asked how to contact her, she responded last of class.

the WORST teacher ever! I usually don't give bad reviews here but this lady OMG she's horrible! it was my last requirement to graduated and I got a B- and I'm a A, A- student take someone else! take McCormack super long essays, every sunday you have to do a lot of research, like 5 to 6 sources each paper

The class was brutal!. She is all over the place, disorganized, changes due date and assignments at the last minute. She does not respond to emails until a week later. Knows her literature but still a horrible teacher! She lacks social and leadership skills. I would never recommend her class!

She should have retired over 20 years ago. She does not care. An abusive being, a bully, a poor excuse. An angry person. This professor is a master manipulator. Try kissing up to her and maybe you might pass. It depends on her irrational mood swings. Do not gamble with your education. Stay far, far, far, away from this her. Buyer beware!

The problem with this professor is not that she is a difficult grader, it's that she is unclear about her grading criteria and does not communicate her expectations up front. Assigned ten papers total, each worth 10% of the final grade in the class. Would not provide the actual grading rubric used to score those papers.

SHE CAN'T TEACH.. She is rotten. She expects you to learn EVERYTHING on your own and isn't clear about what she's expecting from you with the weekly papers she makes you write. She'll give 0s for spacing, citations, and degrades you if you're confused. She's miserable and it shows. She thinks everyone's an English major. All around terrible!!!

This is a tough grader, and is not clear about paper expectations. Therefore, is difficult to meet expectations. There are only a couple shots for getting a decent grade so each paper you pass in could be detrimental to your grade. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS

Highly recommend non-English majors to consider finding a diff professor. I attended a private university and not even there were profs as condescending. SUPER harsh grader, unclear guidelines, 50+ pg syllabus & contradiction in her grade notes. Expects u to criticize other classmates in responses. Grades u on grammar and formatting NOT substance.

One of the worst professors of my career at Massbay. Hardest grader I have ever met and feels entitled to do so because she is the Head of the English Department. Have any concerns about your work or why it has such a low grade? Don't bother emailing her, she answers passive-aggressively with nothing to help you out. RUN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.

This teacher does remotely no teaching what so ever, but instead dumps a bunch of PDFs and YouTube videos for you to enjoy while she kicks back and relax's. Never have I ever much such an entitled person while also being the laziest. Never gives about a C on anything , doesn't respond to emails. Worst Prof EVER. Do Not Take Any Of Her Classes. EVER

Quite possibly the worst Prof. I have ever had. Want clear guidelines with understandable feedback? Don't expect this from her! Instead you'll get weird instructions followed by rude feedback when you think you did what was asked. Avoid this Prof. at all costs, the biggest headache I have ever experienced.

Had the worst experience with this professor. She is condescending, rude, and will fail you no matter how much effort you make. I definitely do not recommend taking this teacher, stay away.

I wont lie, the class was interesting. But that is about the only thing you'll get if you choose to do it yourself because she wont teach you. Expectations are very high and it is almost impossible to understand her directions. She also wont help if you have questions. good luck trying to get an email response as well.

Word to the wise, if you are able to take this course with a different professor, you should. Her comments to students are rude and not constructive. She states at the beginning of the course that completing assignments will earn you a C- and only the students who go above and beyond will receive anything higher than that. Don't waste your time.

Pick any other professor but her. If you HAVE to take this class with her, prepare yourself to be belittled and gain nothing to improve your writing. Try not to beat yourself up when you get comments back from her. She was rude, unwelcoming, and taught me nothing. She also takes forever to give you your assignments back.

I am a student with an exceptional academic record but MrsHarper seems to think that she is a professor at Oxford Uni. and every paper must be perfect and to even get a B, You must spend 5 hours daily on a paper. She is one of the rudest and inaccessible professors ever in my life, for sure. I would never recommend this class to anyone. Trust me.

She should not be teaching at all. She doesnt give any help to her students and expects far more than she has the right to, and doesnt grade consistently. Prepare to have every little think nit picked and to receive rude responses.

I passed out within 2 weeks of starting this class from the amount of stress. She never helped, and I begged for help. I dropped the class because of how rude, condescending and critical she was. Diane Harper is one of the most inconsiderate Professors Ive ever felt with. She grades as if she works at Harvard, and if you ask for help she will take your message and highlight EVERYTHING and break it dow. She is very bitter and is not interested in helping her students. She poured her personal problems onto me, which is quite concerning.

Diane Harper is the worst professor i've ever had. When I got my first paper back with feedback, I felt as though she was YELLING at me. She is very condescending and when I asked for help, she said I was confusing and frustrating myself for no reason and all I had to do was "follow ALL directions" which by the way are EXTREMELY lengthy.

Please I beg you do not take this professor. I am currently in one of her online classes and it is without a doubt the worst experience I have had in my whole life. She grades way too harshly, literally acts like this is Harvard. She is so rude when grading as well, she makes me feel so incompetent. Also makes you rudely peer review. STAY AWAY!

She is an incredibly hard grader. She is so strict on how you must write your papers and if it is not exactly how she would write it, it is wrong. Her feedback makes you feel incompetent, stupid, small and unmotivated to continue. Note: I've received A's in other English courses. I was so stressed out by this class that I decided to withdraw.

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a college class. The syllabus is 44 pages long and is rife with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. She has extremely vague grading criteria despite publishing a dissertation worth of requirements. Her feedback is just "you're wrong" and never includes the correct answer. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

I cannot stress enough how bad this professor is, her class ruined what otherwise would have been a good semester. She is incredibly vague in what she wants, refuses to offer meaningful assistance and will berate you with her grading. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS DROP THE CLASS NOW! If possible take it with David Medina, he is amazing.

I'm a 4.0 student & English major. I only lasted 3 weeks before making the decision to withdraw from this class. Feedback on 1 paper left me having on & off uncontrollable crying fits for 3 days. Needing to do work for this class made it hard to wake up in the morning. Not enough space here to describe all the horrors. Begging you to pass her over.

Dropped this class immediately after reading the syllabus and assignments. Needed one more lit course for a business administration degree and this was such a poor choice. This type of Professor drives kids away from college.

Prior to taking LI 204 with Professor Harper, I was a devout Christian and a dedicated feminist. However, after taking this class, I am sure there is no God, as he would not subject any of his creations to such torture. I have also been turned away from feminism forever thanks to the hyper-missandrist nonsense crammed down my throat every week.

Diane is the worst professor you could possibly take. She will take everything you write, spit out no helpful feedback and only biased insults, and not help you improve one bit.

Gave a rambling lecture to me about literature. Office hours was after papers are due. Made me feel incredibly anxious and stressed. Her feedback belittled me and made me realize she was just mean, bitter, and unkind.

This professor doesn't care. She's rude. Her class is stressful and confusing. I had a problem with the assignment. She would not help me understand her lectures. My complaints to the dean are ignored.

She sets high expectations but provides little guidance or constructive feedback. Her online class is poorly organized and difficult to navigate. Her communication style is dismissive, leaving students feeling undervalued despite their efforts. As a strong English student, earning no higher than a 72 in her class has been frustrating.

Avoid this class with Professor Harper at all costs. Her feedback is harsh and unhelpful, and she makes students feel incompetent. unstuckstudy could be a better study companion than this course. Skip it if you can.

She has no undrestanding of students life, it's like she wants to get revenge of you, she uses todays technology but the way she act and teach is for 1800s. I totally regret my decison to take this course, If I took this course with a standard professor I could get A at least, she is not a hard grader, hard grader, she grades base on emotion.

One of the worst professors I've ever had. Lectures are confusing, unhelpful, and feel like a punishment. Doesn't explain anything clearly, then acts surprised when no one gets it. Grading is a mystery and feedback is nonexistent. Avoid if you care about actually learning or keeping your GPA.

Likes to nitpick every little thing wrong in papers. Gives excessive directions and requirements for papers making them difficult to understand. Overall, grades a 200 level class like you're writing your writing a masters thesis.
