I often feel bad for Ms. Maltby, she just came from teaching high schoolers, and clearly has not yet mastered teaching in a collegiate setting. She is timid and difficult to hear in a lecture hall, and poorly explains practically everything. I've yet to meet a student who feels comfortable in the class, and we are all nervous about our grades now.
She is anxious in front of the lecture, which affects her "teaching". She isn't a very good explainer. The class is mostly you watching her do math problems. And she avoids answering questions because she is so anxious.
It is her first year teaching at a college level and this is quite evident. Although she is always willing to help her students, she is unable to throughly explain problems during her lectures, she constantly makes mistakes and it seems students simply watch but don't truly understand the material. Not recommend for those who struggle in math.
Her lectures are good and informative. She is not very fast paced so it's perfect. She does make mistakes sometimes, but it isn't very often. I would recommend to go to her help sessions because she truly does care if you understand the material or not. Highly recommend for a math professor.

Unless you want a semester of teaching yourself, I would avoid Maltby's class. The lecture consists of filling in the notes (not learning the math), then correcting her mistakes. I taught myself the material after each lesson. If other professors are available save yourself the trouble and pick another professor.
Ms Maltby is very sweet and has help sessions, but she is not too educated in the subject she is teaching, which makes it VERY difficult for students who are not very skilled in math. I study daily with a math major who is also lost. she is very very confusing and isn't ready to teach college. She wants you to pass, but you have to teach yourself.
Do not take this class with this instructor! If you're like me, you're pretty decent at math if you put in the effort. But Maltby makes it pretty tough to even know you're not doing so well. In class, she doesn't really look up while doing lecture notes. It's almost like she's doing notes FOR HERSELF & makes frequent mistakes which is annoying.
Be ready to teach yourself. She does give a lot of iClicker points which contributes to adding free points to your quiz average. She is not the best at explaining material but if you are decently good at math you should get an A. Gives you three chances to take HW quizzes and takes the highest of the three.
She is very nice but to do well in her class you need to be perfect in math and not make careless mistakes. If your like me and you're decent in math you might suffer like I am. EGRADE IS HELL. It grades you on the right answer not if you got the method correct or if you just added one careless sign. The quizzes are out of 9-12.
It was a pretty large class so office hours are a must for one on one time. I mostly used the Blackboard online videos to learn as her teaching style didn't help me much. There's extra credit participation points she gives every class (iclicker), this will add a lot of points (i think 10) to your final quiz average, which helps a little.
Better than some of the other Algebra teachers I've heard about. Has a tendency to plow through lectures without explaining everything well, but she is very helpful if you go during office hours. Offers clicker E.C. points. Doesn't require too many homework quizzes. GO TO CLASS OR YOU'LL BE SUPER CONFUSED.
I've never seen a class so unified in disrespect. Students stopped going to class about 1/2way through the semester because she wasn't able to prepare us for the tests at all and it was better to just deal with it on your own. Made major mistakes daily and every test average was below 75%.The 3 Tests & Final90% of grade and Quizzes10% of grade.
I'm naturally pretty ok when it comes to math so I could understand most concepts and figure out where I went wrong on my own. That being said, I have no idea how students who aren't good at math passed. She confuses herself a lot and just does problems in class without really explaining what the process of how she got the answer.

While she is clearly a very sweet woman, it won't necessarily help your grade. Fall15 was her first semester at FSU. I feel like she was very intimidated by the large class size, and her style of teaching doesn't give me the information I want; I was able to easily learn on my own, but math always came somewhat naturally to me (math major).
Don't take this class with her. She's not good at teaching math, makes many mistakes, and writes down the notes like she's writing her own notes in a class and doesn't explain. I hate eGrade.
Maltby is a great professor. I was horrible at math through high school but have been able to understand it since being in her class. People give bad reviews because they want to blame the teacher for the fact that they don't want to try hard and get bad grades. Her help sessions are extremely helpful she really cares about her students! loved her!
She can be very confusing and often does problems incorrectly. You must go to class because she does iClicker points. Online help differs a lot from her quizzes, and her exams are pretty difficult. Must be good at math to get a decent grade.

Malty teaches MAC1140 as if it was a high school class, which is great. She explains everything very well and gives tons of examples. Take this teacher.
A lot of the reviews on here are quite accurate for her MAC1105 class. She mumbles a lot, makes lots of mistakes, and doesn't explain things well. Be prepared to teach yourself a lot of the material.
Maltby is the amazing. Her lectures are extremely helpful and does great examples of all the types of questions that would be on the exam so they are really just different numbers on the exam. She does iclicker like 3 times a class but does the question as the clicker is open for you to submit your answer. Highly recommend if you struggle in math
She's super nice, Math at FSU is just awful, take this course at your community college before you get here and you'll be much better off.
Very confusing teacher and spends too much time on problems. Speaks extremely slowly and you will probably need to go to office hours of some sort taking this class. iClicker is used for attendance and extra credit points. Take a different teacher for the class if you can or else you need to be on top of your work.
She really isn't as bad as everyone says. She works out the problems on the projector and she takes questions if you have them. All the quizzes, homework assignments, and exams are done online. You can see her before or after class. You can use your notes to do the homework quizzes.
Maltby isn't the worst teacher you could get. She isn't very explicit in her explanations, but she at least tries. You really have to ask her specific questions to get the right answers. Also you might need to go to ACE for math help.
Transferred from another school, had to take this class again for some god-forsaken reason. I have to say I have never had a teacher with such an inability to teach, and lack of motivation to teach. She is by far one of the worst teachers I have ever had, and I hope you can find some other way to get this mandatory class out of the way.
She is a nice lady who tries, but reality is you have to teach yourself. She only does examples and does a poor job of explaining so I went to the PASS sessions afterwards if I didn't understand. It really isn't that hard to pass, just focus on doing well with practice hw and quizzes on egrade and you'll get As. also uses EC clicker grades.
She is a TERRIBLE teacher. Does not know how to explain things properly or provide reasoning for the steps involved with certain math problems. I learned absolutely nothing from her. I learned everything from the online videos posted on her blackboard page, which aren't even hers. They're Blackwelder's.
I was always an A/B student in math in high school- algebra always came easily. Surprise: college algebra with her is not like this. Studied for multiple days and still didn't do well on tests, egrade is the worst (not her fault just the class itself), thought the class would be an easy A, and I'm fighting to pass it.

Professor Maltby, is not a terrible professor, but she isn't great either. She does not do the best job teaching the course material, and struggles with explaining the math problems to students. Without a strong background in math, it will be hard for you to be successful.I suggest that you study hard, go to class, and practice, practice, practice!

Ok so here's the thing... Nothing is wrong with her... She's not a terrible teacher but I stopped going to class because it wasn't worth going. She does Learning Catalyics which is 2% of your final grade (boo hoo). The entire class is pretty much on MyMathLab which is a pain... it's doable just make sure YOU DO THE HW so you're not blindfolded.
Go to class EVERY CLASS. Print the lecture notes and fill them out entirely
She does a great job of breaking down math to make it easily understandable for all. Missing lectures will leave you mystified. Classes can seem slow at times, but hang in there(don't start skipping later in the year because the material gets harder).
She provides great class notes with questions similar to ones on the quizzes and tests. Go to class and take good careful notes. She can move quickly through lecture material so make sure to stay attentive. She explains well and her notes are very helpful.

This teacher is hard to understand and frequently makes mistakes on her own worksheets provided. She works out problem examples in class but gives no steps. Definitely do the online practice if you want any chance of passing.
She was alright, although she constantly made mistakes on her notes and didn't explain the reasoning behind anything. To get a good grade, just do the practice quizzes and tests until you get your desired grade, because it often is what you'll get. I was better off teaching myself the material from stuff online.

She is a good person. She does mess up sometimes when it comes to solving math problems in class, which gets annoying. I wouldn't suggest taking her, but she is not the worst option.
It's a shame Sorribes had to go back to take english classes, she was so much fun.
Uses different colors to help make steps clear. She is nice and a good person but teaching style is not for everyone. Wants to see you succeed but does not understand when you don't get something. She does a lot more than I would if I taught College Algebra. I wouldn't chose to take her again if but there are way worse math professors. Boring af.
She teaches the class at a slower "high school" pace. She takes time to go thoroughly through everything step by step. I personally enjoyed her teaching style! She is always willing to help during office hours if you need any help. She is a very kind lady, unlike other math instructors at FSU!
Listen, let me give you the breakdown. She's easy. Very easy. All you have to do is listen. She speaks slow, she teaches slow, and explains everything in great detail. Sometimes gets confused but always fixes her mistakes. You must keep up with the HW or you'll fall far behind. Take her if you like deep explanations and don't mind slow teaching.
Diane Maltby is a good professor. She goes very very slow but I thought that was a good thing, it was nice to not have to be constantly paying attention to every detail. When she overexplains things it gives you a chance to breathe/look over things you missed. Just try to go to every class and do the practice tests and you'll do great.

Diane Maltby is such a sweet lady. She does assign a lot of homework but it helps a lot and makes sure students know the material before quizzes/tests. I kept on top of things and ended up with an A. She provides outlines for lecture notes and explains all of the lessons well.
If you do well on the tests there is no need to attend her lecture. The homework teaches you the key concepts. Tests are nearly 88% of the grade while quizzes, homework and attendance are 8%, 3%, and 1% respectively
If you didn't take calc in high school, good luck keeping up. Maltby goes very fast during lecture, however her homework method is extremely beneficial. MyMathLab walks you through problems step-by-step, which Maltby refuses to do. I taught myself the whole semester by doing the homeworks and practice quizzes.
Lectures are boring and often will confuse you more than just doing MyMathLab. She assigns a lot of MML problems so make sure you do those to keep up and pass. Quizzes every week in lab. Sometimes she'll curve a test but not always.

It's not that she is a bad teacher, it is just a bad course. The ENTIRE class is online (as in tests, quizzes, and HW) and the tests are worth 88% of the grade. Doing the online HW will help you immensely. She is an okay teacher and going to class is important.
DO NOT TAKE HER. We never made it through a class where she didn't mess up basic arithmetic. Additionally, she would do problems in drastically different ways, and there was never consistency. There is more than one homework due a week in addition to a quiz, but the quizzes, homework and attendance are approximately 5% of your grade.
Professor Maltby is the best there is! She's kind, patient, and her help sessions are golden! I WOULD 100% recommend! Make sure you attend all classes, as if you miss, you can fall behind for the weekly quizzes. She lectures fast when she needs to, however is open to going over anything someone didn't understand. She is super nice and helpful, but her class is weighted horribly. If you fail 1 test, you're done. Homework is only worth 3% of your grade, and it will help you mentally, but it won't help your grade to do 60 homework problems twice a week. She did curve 1 exam and our final, and she genuinely wants you to do well. Go to class and you'll be fine
She is a super sweetheart and definitely one of the best professors I have ever had. She teaches everything you need to know in the lectures so GO TO CLASS, and she will even have reviews before tests. She will answer any questions you have and doesn't try to trick you. 10/10 would recommend and take again.
Such a nice professor! If you go to her office hours youll see how she truly cares for students. I put a lot of time into this class and it paid off. If you dont put in time or effort, you wont do well. Expect 10 hours a week of homework. Tests and quizzes are mainly multiple choice so they arent too bad. Do the practice ones first!!

Tons of homework to do for practice and all work is done online. If this were a more complicated math class, I would consider not taking her.

Maltby was very easy for me but I do have a good math background so this class is mainly review. But her tests and quizzes are exactly like the practice tests and quizzes which are online and you can take multiple times before the test and quiz. The weekly quiz keeps you on track. Do you homework and pay attention in class and you'll be fine!!
She is the best math professor I've had at FSU so far. She is very kind and goes out of her way to help students outside of class to make sure they understand the material. If you ask her a question, she doesn't make you feel dumb, she clearly explains the answer. Go to office hours, she is very welcoming and respectful, too. Do the practice exams!
Explains concepts well, hw required, quizzes come from hw problems, assigns a lot of hw but gives a prequel that lets you skip problems, has office hours and help hours, ace provides a review before every test
HW quizzes multiple times a week. But the 4 tests end up being 90% of the grade. But you can't skip the quizzes or you get dropped. If you go to class you get a good amount of extra credit. If you skip a class you probably will have trouble on the quiz for that chapter. She moves fast and doesn't have time for confused students. Average

The class is very easy if you pay attention and study/practice the problems. The problems done in class are very similar to the ones given on test/quizzes so as long as you make sure you can do those, you will do fine.
1st mistake- taking her class despite reviews. 2nd mistake- not dropping it when you have the chance. There's only 3 tests and they're worth 88% of your grade. Weekly quizzes. Not the best lecturer. I'm not the best at math, and this class did nothing to help spark any interest in it. My lack of motivation helped contribute to my average grade, but the tests are extremely heavily weighted so be prepared for that. The work you do outside of class is heavy too. Also be ready for how bad eGrade is, cant blame her for that

Worst math class Ive ever taken. By the time you copy the notes down shes moved on, you cant ask questions or have any time during the lecture to understand whats going on. I went to every single class and still struggled. Theres hundreds of homework questions. No extra credit. No dropped grades. Go to ACE tutoring itll save you. GOOD LUCK.
do not take this class. You learn very little I. The lectures and theres weekly quizzes that are 8% of your grade. Around 100 questions of homework for every section of every chapter. The tests arent too hard but the final is either 30% or 50% of your grade and its cumlative. Sometimes shell curve tests 1-8 points but other than that no curves
She was okay. Okay, teacher-had office hours, was available. 88% of your grade is 3 unit tests and the final and another 8% the weekly quizzes 1-4 homework assignments a week (usually two a week). I recommend going to ACE, having study groups and taking the practice tests over and over again. I was good at math, so it was an easy A for me.
The homework assignments all have an average of about 50 questions, but at least do some of it. If you dont practice right off the bat, the last test and the cumulative exam will clap you. Tests are 88%.My grade went from an B- to a C- in two weeks because I didnt practice. Shes a pretty good teacher, but you really have to put in the work too.

Be prepared to teach yourself math. While all the class consists of is lectures, you do not gain any value. She mumbles to herself and explains very little. She is spacy and her lectures are very technical and she makes no attempt to explain the topic but simply puts it on the overhead for you to copy. no partial credit on tests and quizzes either.
Dr. Maltby deserves way better ratings than she's given. She is so kind and goes slowly, step by step showing work for every single problem during notes, unlike most math professors. There's pre-homework quizzes that reduce your workload if you do well on them. Quizzes and tests are exactly like her practice tests. Super easy A and would recommend!

Im not a math person and ended with a high A because did the practice for quizzes and tests and went to her help sessions. Ms. Maltby is very thorough when explaining everything. She is very organized with notes and the homework that she assigns. The tests are very similar to the homework and practice tests, so if you study then you will do good.
Kinda odd, but good. Her class is straight forward. Difficult yes. But doable. Just go to her if you need help. The homework helps. She will replace a test grade with your final grade. The first test was HARD. Not her fault tho. Also was my first semester in college sooo I didn't know what I was doing lol. Took this at the same time as Trig. ew.

Mrs. Maltby truly cares for her students and is an absolutely wonderful person. She is so nice and if you show up to class, do your homework, and go to her reviews you will pass. However, tests are weighed very heavily. If you're bad at math and need the extra help take Maltby.
Absolutely nothing of significance occurs in lecture or lab. All the notes must be taken and submitted prior to lecture. We watch videos from the math department staff completing the course notes to learn the material. Tons of HW. Way too much is going on in course outside of the actual material and teaching it.
I never showed up to class and I got an A because she curves so much. I'm pretty sur she curved all of our exams AND the final. Her lectures were pretty boring to me so I just learned by constantly practicing the homework by myself. If you aren't willing to do this, you should probably take someone else. But the homework is exactly like the quiz.
Maltby is a good professor and pretty caring and understanding. After taking MAC1105 and elementary stats I found the class easy. If you do the homework and notes it is hard to fail plus some studying. Between her and the TAs there is a lot of extra help. The homework also is similar to the quizzes and tests plus she gives a lot of extra practice.
Prof. Maltby is an awesome person, but her class is way too hard. The workload is absurd, but she is helpful if you reach out to her or go to her office. She is very educated and kind, the only real problem is how much work she expects. (Specifically the HW, which is anywhere from 40-60 per week, a quiz or test every week, and notes w extra work)
Professor Maltby is awesome! She curves exams when needed, provides great feedback, test/quizzes are EXACTLY like the homework, and she accepts late work. While there are weekly assignments, they are incredibly easy and truly do prepare you to get an A+ in the class. She drops the lowest quiz grade and will replace your lowest exam with the final!
Has ZERO respect for students and makes passive aggressive comments. Makes me feel dumb. She does not teach. Overall I am not pleased. I could make an A- but it all depends on my Final Exam grade. Does not offer extra credit.
Wouldn't go out of my way to recommend her, but she's really sweet and ALWAYS offers office hours. You mostly just teach yourself from the My Math Lab homework (which takes a bit), but if you do that, you'll be fine. Curved two (out of 4 tests), BUT ALWAYS ask for clarification about things bc she's not the best at explaining
if you want a professor that will teach you dont take Maltby. Zooms are technically mandatory- some people found ways around them- and all she does is do work that we already have turned in. Video lectures are someone else, so she never teaches us.
She was a good teacher and a nice lady. As long as you get a good grade on the quizzes, homework and pass a couple of tests you'll be okay. You have to kinda reteach yourself in the end for the final. But she is available for most of that week to answer your questions. I also recommend going to the help sessions during the semester.

Quizzes/ tests are basically the homework. I got an A, but I had to go to class to learn how to do the problems. If you don't go to class, it makes things way harder and time consuming.
Does not teach her own class. She'll go over problems you've already turned in, sure, but doesn't help for the quizzes and tests. Had to drop the class because I had too low of a grade halfway through the semester. Videos are taught by two different teachers, and having two different teaching styles makes the work even more confusing.
Took this class online, she is a sweet lady. However, there is a ton of homework that counts toward your grade and lots of quizzes. It is helpful, it is just a lot to keep up with. You definitely have to stay on top of this class or you will fall far behind.
Nice, but lacks patient and always seems so stressed and tired. I felt bad for her. LOTS OF homework of MML. 4 exams, 1 final The exams are Honorlocked. She CANNOT teach. Litteraly self taught myself through MML. Attendance is required for lectures, she does attendance quizzes.
Easy tests if you do all the homework. Class is pretty much useless, just do the homework. I had a solid A the whole semester but I got an F on the final. Really hard final! She is not very nice at all and I dont like her teaching but she gives you videos (made by someone else) which are helpful. I took her online, she probably sucks irl.
took class online, it was mandatory and pointless to be in class. there is a lot of hw like a lot every week and you have weekly practice quizzes (unlimited attempts) and a 1 graded quiz a week. its like this every week and the final is 10% of your grade. tbh I barely paid attention in the class though and got an A. still a lot of work , beware.
Professor Maltby is really nice and sometimes looked sad because there weren't many participants, so she probably felt like she was speaking to herself. The homework & exams weren't difficult since ALEKS based them on how well you did on homework and what the lessons are. Overall, she was accessible as long as you made the effort to communicate.
Professor Maltby is honestly one of the worst professors I have had. She flies through the material in class and sometimes simply does not do sections of the notes thinking we already know how to do it. She gives A TON of homework through My Math Lab and it takes hours to complete. I would never recommend her, definitely try to get someone else!

Taught myself through this class. Stopped going to my lecture because I could not understand the way she taught. I watched the videos she provided instead. Homework can take anywhere from 1-3 hours a night. Easy class if you can understand the concepts.
Prof. Maltby structures the grades in a way that allows bad test takers to have good grades because of the homework and practice quiz/ test grades balance out your actual quiz/ test grade. This does mean that there is quite a bit of work outside of class, but if anything it helps with understanding the course material.

As long as you focus on the practice quizzes which have unlimited attempts, you'll do fine on the real quizzes/tests. I've only went to class a couple of times at the start of the semester and stopped going because the class is very passable as long as you focus on the online work. The lectures are still pretty useful if you decide to go.
As long as you do the homework and study for all of the quizzes and exams you'll be fine. She gives a lot of homework which takes up most of your time. Attendance was not mandatory but she does make participation a part of your grade. So, It is best to show up to class and not let your grade drop.
I loved having this professor she was defiantly one of my favorites by far. All you have to do is attend class, take the notes she takes, and then do the homework and you can pass like every quiz and test.
This class has a ton of homework and a test or quiz every single week. Attendance is mandatory even though she posts everything online. Help with homework is not really given if you go to office hours she just does a bunch of examples without answering the questions. Not the best math teacher but definitely not the worst. She does curve tests.
This class was a HEADACHE. Every week there's 1-2 HW's, about 20-60 questions total (they took forever). There is a quiz or a test EVERY WEEK which count for a good amount of your grade and there is practice quizzes and tests which were ALSO graded for whatever reason. HW due on Tues., practice quiz/test due on Wed., and real quiz/test on Thurs.
Average professor, I understand the course is very hard especially if you're not the greatest at math. But as much as it is a straight forward class, she lacked such empathy and care for her students, emailing her when you're on the brink of going to the hospital is a waste. She did drop the lowest grade of each category except test.
I had a graduate student teach this class under Maltby and he was great. A lot of homework every Tuesday, practice quiz/test every Wednesday, and quiz/test Thursday. There is alot of work in this class so it's very time consuming. But if you put in the work, you'll totally pass. If you're good at math, easy A.
Graduate students teach her class, mine would allow us to do the homework during class since Maltby posts pre class videos for you to watch and take notes on. TONS of hw that is easy but time consuming, and quizzes/tests every week. Tests get curved a decent amount. Do the practice quiz/tests to study, they are super similar to the real thing!
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE! Mrs. Maltby speeds through her lessons, and has no empathy for her students. She assigns long homework's, and tests every single week like we're some shitty math major. She doesn't even teach her classes, she puts up a bunch of disorganized notes and just sit there the whole period staring at the ceiling.
she goes through the lectures very fast so you need to always pay attention. when doing examples during the lecture, she goes through every step so you can see why she got the answers which is very helpful.
Professor Maltby is by far the worst professor I have ever seen. She doesn't explain the practice problems at all, she just solves them and moves to the next one. You have to teach yourself through Aleks, and don't be surprised if you get 100s on the practice tests and still fail. She makes students learn topics on their own as well. Terrible.
College algebra is one of the easiest math classes by far, but Professor Maltby makes it hard and miserable. She has quizzes every week, and the examples she does in class don't aid in what you do outside of class and in the test labs. Not only does she make the course harder than it needs to be, but she's also outright rude and not understanding.
Outright terrible class. Her lectures are not only horrible, but they don't help you at all in terms of homework and test labs. She only explains things once, and then just solves the questions and expects everyone's on board. I currently have a 67% in the class, and I'm taking 4 courses in which I'm acing all my other classes. Advising pitied me:(
Lectures were annoying but class was easy
I didn't learn in her class but she used ALEKS, thats how I learned. Homework every week on ALEKS, 4 quizzes (1 every other week), 3 tests, lab activities that are easy. The practice quizzes/exams on ALEKS are EXACTLY the same as the quizzes and exams (just different numbers in the questions). final is 15% of your grade and replaces lowest test.
In the most respectful way possible dont take a class with her. Class with her consists of students correcting her (a lot) and then her taking 5 minutes to white out her incorrect work. She doesnt know how to use canvas i.e her giving me a 0 for an exam day that I wasnt even registered for (I didnt take the exam yet). The course isnt hard, its her
Lectures are very fast-paced and unhelpful. The professor just does examples without explaining what she is doing. I learned everything from Aleks. Weekly homework is somewhat time consuming. Practice quizzes/tests are very similar to the tests and are the most helpful aspect of the course. Lab activities are a waste of time. Attendance is graded.
Ask for help if you need it always show up to office hours and show that you care about your grade.
Really easy to pass class. Homework is on ALEKS and helps you understand course material and prepare for exams. Lectures are fast paced, but if you miss anything ALEKS homework will explain it. Exams are also on ALEKS and are easy if you do the reviews.
Maltby was a standard math teacher with probably three homework assignments a week and tests every other week. Nothing surprising here. If you do the work, you'll succeed.
Chose Maltby because there were good RMP reviews at the time... Biggest letdown ever. She was outwardly rude and passive aggressive, which made students not respect her. Thankfully all work and quizzes are through ALEKS. Attendance is mandatory and she uses TopHat quizzes for it. Waste of time and would not take again.
I already struggle with math and I felt as if she did not explain criteria very well. I taught myself majority of the lessons on ALEKS in order to pass. Without the help of her LA's in class I don't think I would have understood the material as much as I did. She also grades attendance.
Doesn't help out students who are struggling at all. Doesn't give out extra credit and tests make up a high percentage of your grade. If you take MAC1105 take Hollingsworth instead she is not easier, but she gives many chances to bring up your grade and actually helps students. Maltby is bad at explaining concepts to where students call her out
She does not teach. At all. She makes a lot of mistakes during the lecture so it is super hard to follow. If you're good at math, then you should be able to teach yourself the lecture using ALEKS and you will be fine. If you're not good at math, then good luck.
Maltby may seem like her deadlines are it, but if you are behind and really struggling, you can speak with her in her office and she will help so much. I was struggling and she pushed back deadlines for me and allowed me to retake some homeworks assignments. Study and do good on unit tests!Don't procrastinate, ask questions, communicate with her!
Maltby is your average professor for MAC1105. You have to teach yourself the material through ALEKS as her lectures are a review and she makes a lot of mistakes when solving problems. While the LA's did not help much either, going to the help sessions can earn you up to 200 points extra credit. Attend class for Top hat points and class activities.
Not a hard class if you put in the effort. Do the practice exams, they are the same content on that weeks quiz/test. Don't always have to go to class but make sure the homework is understandable before going into a quiz.
