She is the best comp teacher I have ever met. She really helped me develop as a writer from the moment I started the class till I left. I still look back at old essays that I wrote while taking her course. I would recommend her to anyone.

People who claim Orsini is mean and evil don't have a thick enough skin to become a professional writer. She is extremely good at what she does. The class is not easy, but if you have the guts to stick it out, you will be a better writer for it.

Orsini has a personality and is not afraid to use it. it is very refreshing to finally hear a teachers true "voice" in class. this woman is well versed and weilds her intelligence ONLY to help you better understand things-not demean anyone. those who have rated her poorly are probably slacker, low-life students who don't like working hard. too bad

The online class is okay, but I didn't like the blog format. The blog was slowed down at one point where we could only use one browser to even access the page. Also there's no guarantee the assignment is received as in WebCT. Other than the format of the class, it was great.

She is a good teacher, very helpful and gives plenty of time on assignments. All you have to do to pass is do what she says exactly how she says it, if you don't, it's still easy to pass. One on the best teachers i've ever had period

Mz Orsini is Hands-down the finest (and toughest) writing instructor I've ever had. I took her beginning CRW in 1997 and her Advanced CRW (I think the 1st one she taught @ VCC) in 1998. She definitely pushed me in new and interesting ways. She is EXTREM

I took Creative Writing. She does have a strong personality, but she knows her stuff and she's a very effective teacher. It was harder than I thought, but I did fine in her class.

Orsini is like a ball of fire. she has such good material to teach the class, and is so passionate about what she does. she is always enthusiastic about the student's work, and is always giving us great imput on our paper and finding ways to enhance it. she's very encouraging, and is creative in her teaching methods. she's a bit paranoid about walking in late, but with good reason. i recommend ANYONE who even remotely wants to write to take her class. she has helped me decide my major.

MS. Orsini's creative writing class is AMAZING. I don't think I've ever learned so much in an English class. That said, that class is hard. There is an assignment due almost every week and she does not go easy on the grades. You won't get an easy A, but this class is definitely worth the effort.

This teacher does kick ass, although I think she may be the anticrist. If you are sentimental or get your feelings hurt easily, this probably isn't your teacher and Creative Writing probably isn't your best bet for a major either for that matter lol. For everyone else...I give her an A. My writing has gotten better thanks to her help.

By far the most most rewarding & challenging class I have ever taken. I'm a 4.0 student holding my breath for the final to decide my fate, so it's by no means easy. You HAVE to be committed to get anything out of this class. I spent many late nights editing & agonizing. She's brutally fair-which is great when you do well & terrible when you don't.

A whole lotta fun. You won't be board a single minute in this class.

This is the best teacher that you can get for Engligh. I took her class my freshman year for Freshman Comp I and I loved her so much, I had to to take her creative writing class. Just focus on using all your 5 senses when writing for her and be very descriptive, she like that.

I absolutely love this professor!!! Ultimately helped me determine my major. I've taken her for Fresh. Comp. 1 Honors & Creative Writing, will be taking Amer. Lit. Civil War-Present Honors. I'll admit she was tough/critical, but it wasn't in a demeaning way. She made me a better writer. Animated, knowledgeable, keeps class interesting. TAKE HER!

On line class. If you want to write creatively, which is totally different from writing essays, you want Professor Orsini to teach you how! There's writing due every week, but you learn by continually writing. Definitely a "must take" class for anyone who truly wants to write.

I took Orsini before for comp 1 and knew i wanted her for comp 2 for sure. i wasn't sure how the online class was going to go but it went well. orsini was very clear on all of the assignments. All of them lead up to finishing a 2000 word research essay. After that is done, the only thing left is some reading assignments and the final on them. Easy

Took this class online. There are 7 narratives through the semester. directions are very clear. Her criticisms are helpful. Easy A if you like to write. Just don't miss any assignments b/c your grade would drop quickly. Discussions are enjoyable. She is available by phone and office. Always willing to help.

A very sweet person, she gives a lot of compliments and encouragement, even when you aren't sure of yourself. She always treats everything as if it's exciting, so it rubs off after a while. There aren't a lot of assignments so don't miss any, but the ones she gives aren't useless. Contact her right away with problems, she likes to talk about them.

EXCELLENT PROFESSOR!! I learned so much. Its true she has a huge ego and thinks everyone can write like Ernest Hemingway, However; at the end of the semester I can now write just as good as Ernest thanks to Orsini. Writers take Orsini!!

I LOVE Prof Orsini! She writes helpful comments throughout your paper but if you can't read them (she has horrible handwriting and knows it), she'll decipher it for you. You can ask her anything and never acts like you're inconveniencing her. Whoever said she wasn't helpful and wrote mean things is full of crap.

She is an excellent teacher. She will help you in any way she can. She has a lot of homework, but you do learn a lot. She may sound scary at times, but she really does care. You can not be late for class. You will not be allowed to come in and disturb her class. You also can not leave class to go to the restroom. You will learn.

Decent class, but there is A LOT of writing. 5 papers and 4 draft packages. Draft packages aren't too hard just annoying and time consuming, but they really do help inflate your grade. She makes class interesting and fun as well. There is no final, just a short paper due. I got an A in the class, and would recommend if you don't mind writing.

Best english teacher ever. She has helped me so much with my writing. The papers are hard to get A's on but the drafting packages help so much, so do everything in them. She also makes class very entertaining. Anyone who says she is a bad teacher was just looking for an easy A. It won't be easy but will definitely be worth it.

This was by far the best teacher I ever had in my life. I took her English 1 class back in 2004 and never forgot her, because she has changed my life. She seemed scary and strict at first, but as I showed interest, she changed the way I write forever. She wrote on one of my papers: "You should go for Journalism." Well, I'm finally doing that.

I took this course online and was initially surprised at how high her standards are. Throughout the course, her feedback is essential and should fuel your writing improvements. Her notes on each assignment clearly point out the issues that need to be worked on, but you should expect to work hard on improving those weaknesses.

Took her online course. There was reading to do and essays, but it was bearable. Be sure to follow directions for your blog posts. Great teacher. Make sure to read the short stories before you take the reading quizzes because you only have 25 minutes to take them and you need all that time!

Comp II Great online Class. Do the work and you will grow as a person and a writer. I finally got to meet her after I took the class and she was so encouraging about my future. You'll be glad you took her just do your part

She's very blunt, and at first this offended me, but once you see what she's talking about in your paper, you'll realize that she's always right. She really wants the best from you, and she has a true passion for writing and helping students. She grades fairly, but harshly. Keep an open mind and this class is awesome! Great prof! Great class! She can be intimidating at first but overall was a great professor. Was extremely helpful and clear on how she wanted the papers done. The topics themselves weren't so easy. Probably the only class I enjoyed going to this semester. Take her if you can!

I took her online class and liked how she did it. It wasn't a typical online class because she created website where you post all your stories. It made workshopping other people's stories in the class. My only complaint is that I feel like her critiques were at times geared more towards her own style instead of helping my style grow.

She is AMAZING! Trust me, if you're into writing, then you MUST take her class. She will help you out sooo much. At first, I'll admit, she's a scary lady, but before you know it you'll be craving her insight on everything you write! Take her creative writing class, you won't be sorry.

I took a Hybrid Enc1102 class and Professor Orsini is a little tough in grading but I liked her teaching methode. If you are attending school full time expect to write some serious essays on at least 5 different topics.

IF YOU WANT TO BE A BETTER WRITER TAKE THIS CLASS. It will be difficult. She tears you down but she builds you back up. At first I hated her because she made me feel like such a crappy writer but now I'm so grateful. I've improved SO MUCH! The only thing I hated were her online tests so be careful with those! Before, I LOVED writing. She turned it into tedious forced labor of dreary emptiness and useless dreams. You have one shot on everything she grades. No rough drafts, just everything you did wrong. You really don't need a book, you can find everything online. Also, she is VERY opinionated. Her views and interpretations are 'always' right. Always.

Prof. Orsini makes very clear what she expects from each piece, and grades accordingly. If you think this will be an easy A, then look elsewhere. HYBRID- If you are serious about becoming a better writer- English major etc. TAKE HER! She will get you right on track to where you are suppose to be! Lazy students NEED NOT APPLY. She gives you work and readings that will ultimately give you a new outlook on life. I failed the class and still loved her :) That should speak volume!

I took her online Creative Writing course. I have always been interested in writing and wanted to become better. She definitely did help! She grades a bit hard, but does offer some extra credit to offset that. She is honest and I have become a better writer because of her! If you are interested in writing you MUST take her course!

If you are in college to actually learn something then this is the professor for you. Her class is challenging and totally worth it.

DO TAKE if you are interested in improving your writing, DO NOT TAKE FOR AN EASY A. Her feedback is 99.99% of the time helpful (albeit a bit unintelligible, you need to be an Egyptologist to read it.) and she is genuinely interested in helping you become better.

Professor Orsini is amazing. She is helpful and funny in her critisisms. She always manages to find what is wrong with your story. She gives lost of extra credit. She grades fair. Put in the work. Awesome class if you want to learn to write or publish. Helps you with your novel. Text book is great. I reread chapters just to learn more. BUY IT.

This course is NOT an easy A. This is, however, a place to learn- BIG TIME. If you are serious about your writing and growing as a writer, this is the class for you. The professor does such a great job at looking at your paper and telling you what to correct, and what went right. This is a great class to grow in! But, make time for it! It's work!

Diane Orsini is THE BEST professor you will ever have. Whether you're serious about a writing career or just want to explore your capabilities, she will challenge you. She gives clear and sometimes shocking criticism that will make you feel defeated early in the course. Don't fear her methods though, she will build you back up!

BEST. TEACHER. EVER. She will help you immensely if you are willing to open yourself up to the class. She will strip you down and build you back up again. You'll watch yourself flourish in ways you didn't know were even possible. However, don't go into this class expecting to get away with mediocrity.

She gives essays and they are step by step processes. She talks to you with a lot of respect. She also has awesome stories with no textbook required. Honestly if you suck at writing like me, just go to the writing center they basically help you get a grade or two higher. Fun class time passes very quickly.

Professor Orsini will make you a better writer. She will destroy your preconceived notions about writing and build your strengths. Her grading is brutal, but she gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit to balance it out. Don't expect to be coddled. She won't pull punches, but if you listen you will become a stronger writer.

This was my first college class. It was a tough class just because the amount of work that you had to put into it but overall it was worth it. I became a better writer because of her. She gives you valuable information that you will use in school and in life. 10/10 would take her again.

The BEST English Comp professor ever!! If you want to learn how to write correctly for other classes. PICK HER. She is so funny and awesome however, when it comes down to work she doesn't play. If she assigns homework you better do the damn thing or it's your grade. She will not hold your hand! Also she is the queen of bouji etiquette lessons!!

Very nice, energetic person. I found the lectures to be pretty pointless in relation to the writing assignments. The steps to create the "writing packages" were also time consuming, not very helpful and a waste of paper. She is a tough grader for sure but she is very helpful when it came to the actual essay. I would take her again.. but online.

Professor Orsini is amazing! & she is so funny! I would tell anyone to take her for comp 2! Only 2 essays all semester, and all the reading quizzes can be taken online! She is a very brutal grader, so if you are a strong writer, you will do fine! If you aren't, the quizzes will make up for it. It is impossible to fail the quizzes.

Professor Orsini helped me out a ton this semester! My grandfather passed away, and she still allowed me to turn in my grief period missing assignments for credit! That said, she is a very tough critic, but I found shooting her an email defending my work brought her to give more constructive criticism instead of straight critique. She's very sweet

An excellent teacher that has a strong passion for her subject. She manages to relate her subject in such a manner that you can see how it may relate to your non-humanities field. Definitely take her for Freshman Composition if you have the chance.

Professor Orsini is absolutely amazing! When I took ENC 1101 with a different professor, I thought I did ok and learned how to write in English. However, when I got Professor Orsini I realized that I was FAR from it. I learned how to use proper quotation and how to do a correct MLA format source citing. If you want to learn - take it!

Professor Orsini is one of the best professors. She cares so much. Her critiques are honest (she doesn't sugar coat), but you will learn so much from her. She gives a lot of work but she makes sure you always know what you're doing. Her lectures were enjoyable and I recommend talking to her after class if you have any questions about the work. I can't imagine there being a class where I could've learned more about writing than this one. You really develop a solid grasp on what good and bad writing looks like. I'd recommend this for anyone who has a genuine interest in storytelling. I think some of the reviews on here are a little harsh. She's VERY fair and pretty cool if you ask me.

I loved this class so much! Learned more about writing during this semester than I have in my entire 4 years of high school. Ms. Orsini motivated me to enjoy writing and she gives great feedback. Like she says, "it takes a special kind of idiot to do it well," so get ready to work. Take the class. You will not regret it.

This class consisted of a few writing assignments and some quizzes based on reading from the textbook. Professor was very quick to answer emails and very friendly and helpful. Easy A from an DE student. Take the class seriously and you will do just fine. She is a fair grader. Would take her for another writing class if I had the chance.

She made English fun. The moment that changed my life forever was when I told her I was math-science minded. She said, "That doesn't matter. The same part of your brain is used for both math-science and English. You can do this." She'll make you earn your grade, she'll tell you exactly how to improve, and she'll make it fun along the way.

I took Professor Orsini for freshman Comp I and II. Her teaching skill are both challenging and enlighting. She is a tough grader but you learn for sure! I am so grateful for her! I would have love to have her for my advance classes.

This course was amazing and I recommend any aspiring writers to try it out! Professor Orsini gives great feedback and grades more than fairly. This course expanded my comfort with several genres of writing and once again, I highly recommend taking this course with Orsini!

I loved Professor Orsini this semester, she was awesome, a really genuine person, and provided me with some great feedback I really tried to use in my work. The class structure is great and keeps me into the material in the blog posts. Although she grades really really tough, her amazing feedback and wisdom make up for it.

If you want someone to coddle you, do not take her. If you want to become a better writer and can accept critique, TAKE THIS CLASS. By far the most helpful writing professor I've had. She will tell you clearly what does and doesn't work in your writing. She will encourage you and support you while telling you what you need to work on.

I took professor Orsini for freshman comp 2 in the spring , and can say she is amazing. She was organized and had a schedule that will not make you stress. Only a few quizzes online that are easy to get 100 and 2 papers. Professor Orsini has a schedule for the essay so it was finished in a breeze. Also lots of extra credit!!

If you are serious about improving your writing, you want Professor Orsini. Her critiques are brutally honest but positive. She will always tell you what you're doing right as well as point out where you need to improve. Her critiques were integral to my getting published for the first time.

Professor Orsini has such a vibrant personality and always has a crazy story or useful fact ready tell. I actually felt like I learnt how to be a better writer in her class but she can be a strict grader so watch out and go to the writing center a lot.

Professor Orsini is very knowledgeable and caring. She sets the right expectations from the beginning. I took her twice, her classes were very difficult but I learned a great deal from her. I am currently pursuing my English major at UCF and everything that she taught me has helped me to be a superb student. If you are a writer, you need her!

You will learn a lot. Professor Orsini is very clear in her expectations. Pay attention in class and take her serious and you will pass with a good Grade and Better understanding of the necessary skills to properly write more clear and effective in your future classes and career.

She is a tough grader and has a particular vision of what a good story is but her criticism is delivered in a well throughout and useful way. I had a rough time with the work, but she helped me get to a good place. If you come to her class with thick skin and an open mind you'll find something great.

She is very specific in her feedback. Take your time in the drafting process, because she is one of the first teachers that could tell when I rushed a paper. Use her feedback as motivation to improve. This class is more difficult than "creative writing" might seem. However, if you work hard, you will only be better off for having taken it with her.

Professor Orsini created a fantastic online course with interesting and helpful resources. She wants you to become a great writer and gives you the opportunity to develop.

She is a tough grader but makes you better because of it. Challenges you in the best ways possible. She is willing to work with you if, you are willing to put in the work. She wants you to succeed but you have to want it too. I would take her class again because she is clear and concise and actually teaches skills necessary for the real world.

For this class you'll have 4 things you'll actually write. You'll do a lot of group discussions. You'll read her PowerPoint and take the quiz for it, but most answers are avaliable online. She's super understanding and you have 3 "crap-happens coupons" where you're allowed to turn in something late. Actually follow her schedule, she will help.

I took this class to become a better writer. I achieved my goal. Her critiques were 100% on target; 100% helpful. They were also funny. She also tells you what you did right. Her grading is tough, but the expectations are very clear, spelled out, and she sticks to her rubric. I will take more of her classes.

Professor Orsini is my favorite professor across all the classes i've taken at Valencia College. She doesn't expect perfection, only that you try your best. She understands the anxiety of writing papers, and works hard to ensure that we complete as much work in class as possible. She is funny and understanding. I can't recommend her enough.

my first page that I submitted i was graded very harshly for, I had gotten my feelings hurt, as the semester went on I realized how glad I took this class with this professor. Prof Orsini will tell you straight with what you need to work on and what you wrote amazingly! I highly recommend her if you're interested in writing! just bring your A-game.

Ignore the bad reviews, Professor Orsini is great. Yes, her feedback is harsh, but if you register for her class to improve your writing, she'll definitely help you. She has extra credit assignments and doesn't offer any late submissions besides Crap Happen Coupons. Each assignment is due every Wednesday. I would take this professor again!
