This was an easy class. There is a couple of group projects but she is very good at grading you. Class is interesting and she gives you study guides that help out a lot. You rarely ever use the book. She posts the lectures online. I highly recommend her.
she is really sweet and fun. you can easily get a good grade with her. easy! just turn in thos few assignents.
I LOVE HER she isn't boring and seems passionate about the class. She gives SO MUCH extra credit I don't know how you can fail that class. SHE IS GREAT, does some group work, 2 essays, and gives you a study guide for each test that are EASY
totally nice teacher, very easy to get a good grade. tests are easy, and you dont even have to buy the book. she is fun, and loves to interact. take her.!!
She is a wonderful person and really cares about her students. There are assignments due every class and some extra credit. Great Class.
Really did not like this class. I honestly found it extremely boring, but Diane herself is pretty amazing. She clarifies things when you need it and doesn't base your entire grade on tests, which was very useful to me as I do not test well. Great professor.
She is hands down the best teacher at Southwestern. She cares deeply about her students. Lots of fun projects and interesting content in class lectures and BB a plus.
this class was ok.it was kind of boring if you are not really interested in ancient art. there were several group presentations and for this you have to really know what you are talking about because she asks questions. she is mean sometimes.
I found the class very interesting. I took the 8 week course and learned so much. There was a lot of work but not hard to keep up with. Mrs. Palmer is a very helpful professor and her instructions were very easy to understand.
BEST CLASS EVER! She was very helpful and the class was fun. Lessons were simple to the point, and the test were hard, but as long as you came into class and paid attention you were good. I definitely learned a lot.
I took the 8 week course and there was a lot of work and plenty of extra credit. She's very helpful and kind and clear on what needs to be done. I learned a lot and even became interested in wanting to learn more about the arts.
Hated this class, she likes to do a lot of presentations and for a person that hates being the center of attention i didn'y do so well in this class but she is nice but very blunt!
The hardest class I ever taken! She bombards you with a lot of homework! I took 4 classes last semester and I did more hwk in her class than the other 3 combined. She makes you write difficult essays too. And her discussions of sharing ideas are dumb. Also she is mean. I got a B but I worked my butt off! Her exams feel like finals. So study hard!
Prodessor Palmer is an awesome teacher and she becomes a friend! I recommend this class for all type of students. H.W is due almst every class meet, and a lot of information is learned. She is awesome!
Professor Palmer was the rudest Professor I've ever had. She likes to start arguments with students in the middle of class and really tries to bully her students. You have to be mentally strong to pass her class. She is far from friendly. HWK every class too! I got an A only because I read the whole book and not because of her.
Professor palmer is an amazing professors, engages the class and grades compliments papers with the same enthusiasm she teaches the class.
Don't take her. She is mean and rude and will asks for students "opinions" and start fights with students.
Mrs. Palmer is one of the best teacher you will probablly have while at SWC. Just attend class, read your chapters, and do your hw and you'll get an A. Love her she's awesome!
Professor Palmer should have her teaching credential taken away. It is true she is rude to her students and can get real nasty with you if u ask her an innocent question about a chapter. Her favorite phrase is "this is my class and if you don't like it you can leave" No Diane this is not ur class it's the students class who paid to be in the class!
Professor Palmer is really passionate about education and cares for her student's grades. She lets you use your written notes for exams and there is only 3 "big" assignments throughout the semester. She has a good sense of humor, is strict, but fair. I would recommend her for this class (:
I took her at SWC and Diane Palmer is rude to students. I learned more on my own than listening to her long powerpoint lectures. She also changes the syllabus every week to her benefit only.
Her class mainly consists of 3 hours of PowerPoint slides and you have to memorize pictures of some of the slides because they are on her test. She also tends to change the syllabus without telling students and when she falls behind she blames the students. I don't recommend Diane Palmer try taking Humanities with a different Professor.
I do not recommend this professor. Too many assignments for a Humanities class the book she assigned us was not sold at the school library I had to buy it online and it was expensive. Also she would give us a project and then change the prompt days before it was due. Don't take her class it's a huge headache.
I took Diane Palmer last year and she is one professor that I will never take again. Not because I thought her class was hard but because of the way she treats her students. Her class is passable but the book is very expensive. She tells her students to participate and when they do she offends them. If you have a question she also won't answer it
I took this class at the National City campus she was really moody at times. Also the book was super expensive and I could only find it on Amazon at full price $150 . Group Projects lots of them. I would not take one of her classes ever again.
Never take a class with her. She's super rude to her students. She talks alot none STOP her voice is sooo annoying. If you dont like to participate in the class discussion she will force you to speak up. If you disagree with her about a topic she gets mad. And she also makes fun of her students.
Don't take her she's very rude to her students. If you don't agree with her in a topic she will get soooo mad. She yells at her students for no reason. I agree with the comments below idk why she's a professor. Safe yourself and DON'T TAKE HER EVER!!!!!!!!
If you just speak up in class she will grade you kindly. Very easy class, lot's of homework but it's very simple. Quizzes and 2 essays are easy, no tests. Very liberal but that isn't a bad thing, in my opinion. Extremely approachable, just don't be late to class. Sit near the front of the class. The other reviews don't align with my experiences.
Biggest mistake i have ever made in my life. She is horrible and rude, DONT TAKE HER!! Class is super super boring. And shes very rude to her students she gets mad if you ask her a simple question. Shes never clear when grading. Shes JUST A BIG NO NO!!!!
Do yourselves a favor and take someone else. Diane Palmer snaps at students, changes the syllabus every week to her favor and will squeeze in extra assignments that are not even on the original syllabus. Also she grades your work and always forgets to give you your points on blackboard so hold on to your graded work! Better yet just don't take her.
When I signed up for the class I was excited about learning Human history however this class turned out to be a nitemare. Professor Palmer made the class really boring and she yells at her students. The semester felt really long I couldnt wait to be done with her class. So definitely take someone else for Humanities.
I wouldn't take her again or recommend you take her. Diane Palmer insults her students accuses them of not paying attention she likes to change the syllabus and she's really rude.
No way will I take her again. I passed her class but I didn't like her rudeness. In the future I will take someone different for Humanities.
Prof. Palmer, in my opinion, is pretty sweet and interesting. If you do the assignments diligently, arrive to class on time and participate, she will approach you kindly. Class was fairly easy. She assigns HW, quizzes on each unit and one essay but no tests:) She also writes encouraging comments on your assignments. I'd take her class again:)
I regret taking Diane Palmer I passed the class but she was always in a bad mood and took it out on her students. She gets mad when you raise your hand to ask a question she also made up assignments that were not in the syllabus. It got old watching her lash out all the time too. I don't recommend her.
Don't believe these other comments, Diane Palmer is a very good and chill professor. If you really like art then this class should be a breeze. If you pay attention to the lectures then you should do good on the quizzes. These comments don't reflect how good a professor she is, she became a big inspiration to me for my future.
Definitely would not take her again. She was mean and she made us write an essay on each of her lectures which is fine except we had to write it in a way she likes to read it (without the rhetorical elements) and she also would leave us nasty menacing feedback. And one last thing she gets her classes mixed up which can be a big problem for students
surprised she has such a bad rating. I find her to be very caring and helpful. She gives good feedback for every assignment. She is actually very sweet and makes you feel comfortable to come to her if you need her. She is very clear with her lectures and makes it easy to understand. I'd take her again.
Her method of teaching is you staring at powerpoint slides and memorizing them she likes to make students memorize pictures and you have to name the picture. Also she is very temperamental and will lash out at students unprovoked. She tried to give me a C by never entering my points on BB so hold on to your graded work. I do not recommend her.
I was excited to take world religions because I thought it would be laid back, informative, and enjoyable but it feels more like slow torture. I would never take another one of her classes. She seems sadistic with the amount of work she gives, and this is a three credit HUMANITIES class.
A m a z i n g Professor, you can definitely tell she loves her job. I took this class not expecting to become so interested in the topics she taught us. She is extremely hilarious and adds humor to her lessons. One of my favorite professors i've had. Definitely recommend this class to anyone!
Diane likes to make a easy Humanities course really difficult by giving group projects. It's ok to due on or two group projects a semester but to do one every week is just insane. I also did not like how she yelled at some of the students for no reason she did that a lot.
Absolutely love her! It's simple for credit, pay attention, do your work, ask questions, don't be rude. Boom you've probably secured at least a B. Never had a problem and every semester I look forward to taking at least one of her courses.
Diane Palmer was awful. She was mean to students for no reason. Unapproachable is pretty accurate. She lost some of my assignments swore that I never turned it in then at the end of the semester she found them and did not even apologize to me. She has a very boring teaching method and you have to write an essay on her lectures every class.
energetic, fun teacher, would take again, very caring and considerate! no exams at all
Don't believe the comment below me about No Exams that is a lie. We had 3 exams and 4 group presentations. She also was not energetic at all on the contrary she was always mad. This class was really boring if you want to get a good grade in this class just study do your thing and keep you distance from her. I don't recommend her at all.
By far the worst Professor I've ever taken. Do not take her you will be basically teaching yourself. She makes your write a 2 to 3 page essay on the lecture and will leave nasty feedback. She also had us do a bunch of group presentations which was not cool because it was a 8 week course and on top of that we had to study for her exams and pop quiz
If you want to pass, just do the work! It is that easy.
This is my third time having her (HUM104 and PHIL106) and shes absolutely wonderful! I am thankful to her that she has broadened my views even more on other cultures values, beliefs, and how they see things in comparison to the Western/Christianized views. Her classes are engaging and interesting, plus the work is easy as long as you do it!
Took HUM 140 - World Mythology, she is absolutely the best professor for this subject, doesn't assign too much homework and is understanding that life happens and sometimes affects your due dates, super flexible ! and her quizzes and final is truly a good time to do if you simply do the work and the reading assignments.
Her class was the most boring class I have ever taken. She just shows you power point slides and then assigns group presentations. You also have to write an essay about her lecture for homework every class. Be careful if you don't kiss up to her in your essay she will doc points. I do not believe she is fair to the students either. Do not take her.
Prof Palmer was one of the most personable professors Ive ever had at Southwestern college. You can tell she cares a lot about the topic and your success in the class. You have around 10 quizzes the entire year, they're nothing too intense but just do some light studying so average grades on them don't pile up. Class participation is v important.
Diane Palmer is by far the worst Professor I ever had. She bases her whole entire class on PowerPoint and she assigns homework every class. She was always very angry and would get her classes mixed up. One time she have us a different class exam. Don't raise your hand you will be picked on by her.
I took her online PHIl103 course during the semester. She is the best online professor I have had so far. The coursework is minimal and tests are very fair. I definitely recommend this professor! If you turn in your work and participate in the discussions you will get an A.
It is an online class, participation obviously matters. The quizzes aren't to difficult as long as you watch the videos and do the reading. She also assigns a discussion board or a voice thread once a week. The videos she puts up help with the discussion boards and quizzes and are usually short. I would take her again, it's an easy A and she's nice
One of the best professors!! She's witty & cares a lot about her students. Participation is very important. She's an understanding professor! Communication is key in her class as she likes to have open discussions with her students. She's very open-minded, and clearly those who don't pass are those students who don't look at the modules. Easy A!
350 characters isn't enough to describe how AMAZING she is. She makes this course worth every time spent, not only do you learn but enjoy it! crazy, I know. She's so understanding of a college students life, yes there is work and quizzes but its a perfect balanced class where I had to put work in but not to the point where I was stressed. TAKE HER!
This class should be easy but the structure makes it more difficult than needed being primarily based on progress rather than the final product I highly recommend not to take her class if you are taking for GEs I earned an A but received a C due to her grading. Leadership is emphasized in order to achieve an A ,but does nothing unless she sees fit
She's very easy on almost everything of the entire semester and you basically get an A here. However, the most difficult part is visiting two religious sites IRL during the semester which you have to make a very good essay about these visits and describe everything about it, roughly speaking, or else you get something else other than an A.
The whole class is based on a group project that you will work on throughout the semester. She makes you participate, very important for her. Lectures but if you want to pass the assessments you have to learn on your own. When brought up problems with the class she tends not to be very helpful. Keep up with your grade so you get what you deserve.
I took her online class and it was fairly easy. I see reviews saying she is way different in her live classes but for her online class shes pretty nice. Gives good feedback and cares about your learning experience. I give her 4 stars because she is slow with grading, she graded majority of our assignments towards the end of the semester.
She's a very good teacher, sweet and caring. The class is very interesting, there are a couple of papers during the semester, and a final one which is long and detailed but if it is done with time it is possible. She is very accessible and gives great feedback.
Took her for HUM 101 and 123. She's absolutely great! It's an easy A class, only issue is that she'll call you out if you're one of the quiet ones. The worst thing that can happen in class is that she'll embarrass you in front of everyone lol
Prof. Palmer made World Religions one of my favorite classes. There is a bit of reading and assignments every week but you can work ahead of schedule. She tries to respond to everyone and gives amazing feedback. She's available for video chat if needed and responds to messages quickly. I was able to talk to her about some concerns and she was great
She was very mean towards students. Also she always changed her syllabus to the benefit of hers and not the students. She is unapproachable. Exhibits bully behavior. I got an A plus in her class but I did not like how she talked down to students for really no reason.
Professor Palmer is probably one of the best professors I have had to date. She is caring and passionate about her class. Her modules are easy to follow and packed with information necessary for the weekly quizzes. Discussion boards are a must but very easy. I was dealing with a loss and she gave me some extensions and was very encouraging & caring
I don't really recommend her , although I got an A+ she is a though grader . She gives every week quiz and a discussion to do the quiz are kind of hard.
Diane Palmer was very unprofessional she would get her classes mixed up also she assigns alot of group projects. You have to walk on egg shells with her I did witness her snapping on students. We did 4 group projects and 2 solo presentations 4 exams and 4 quizzes. Also homework is due every class. The work load I can tolerate but it's her attitude
I will never take another class of hers ever again she was mean and she never follows her own syllabus and even sometimes got our assignments confused with other classes she teaches. Her teaching method is very boring too. Also hold on to your graded work she hands back to you because a couple of times she forgot to enter my points on blackboard
By far the worst Professor I ever had. She bores you with slides the whole entire class she doesn't really teach and she has a really nasty attitude. She was always in a bad mood. She's one of those that want you to teach the class and she sits there eats her lunch while you present then rips your presentation apart when your done. Avoid taking her
Professor was empathetic and gives a reasonable amount of time to complete assignments. This has been one of the most insightful classes I've attended. Meet once a week but homework should be done before then because each meeting requires participation.
I didn't find Diane Palmer to be a good professor at all. She gave out alot of group projects her lectures were long and boring and sometimes had nothing to do with questions on the exams. She didn't allow students to have snacks but she would be eating gummy bears and candy bars during class. I would not take her again. 2 Thumbs down for her.
350 characters are not enough to describe how awful she was. Get ready to do a lot of group projects , random pop quizzes exams she calls her study guide "Jeopardy" the study guide was not helpful at all. She makes you right an essay after every lecture on what you thought about the lecture but if you are honest she gets angry and threatens you....
Very boring not taking any of her other courses. She has a very dull teaching method taking her class was a waste of time.
I do not recommend her and I would not take any other class with her ever again. I should of read the reviews before taking her class but then again she was the only one that still had seats now I know why.
Kind and caring professor! Took a hybrid HUM101 course. We met on Zoom once a week and the meetings require mindful participation. The modules are straightforward and her quizzes are super easy. We did some discussions and reflections, but they are not difficult. I would ignore the negative reviews, you can reach out and she will help you.
Boring, mean, rude, snaps easily, gets combative, her homework is to write a 3 page essay about her lecture. Leaves nasty comments on your essay. Group projects (we did 4) lectures on the day of exams cutting into exam time.
She's mean just like the comments below said. I needed to take Humanities and she was the only one that still had seats even after I read her ratings I decided to take her anyway thinking maybe she wasn't that bad but she is! She looks for ways to attack students. I had to change my seat to the back because she picks on the ones closer to her.
She teaches with so much bigotry and hate. She said to the class on the first day that there are no right or wrong opinions yet if she doesn't like your opinion she will tell the whole class you are wrong. That is being two faced. She has you do 4 group projects and you have homework every class a written essay which she leaves rude feedback on.
Her class was awfully boring. I'm ok getting negative feedback on papers because it helps me make my next paper even better but her feedback was uncalled for with personal attacks & little threats of dropping you from the class. There's really no need for that. And oh did I mention how boring her class is? Also be ready to do alot of group projects
Get ready to read and have homework every class. Be careful she mostly responds rudely. You will do alot of group projects in her class and she will constantly interrupt students during the presentations to throw them off their game.
The person that said on here that she is very helpful never had the unfortunate luck meeting her in person. You took her online it probably wasn't even her most likely her assistant (she has one). I didn't like Diane and teaching method her lectures were just pictures. I learned what I needed to learn on my own. Her jeopardy study guide is useless.
After having just finished her class I can say that ALL the negative comments about her are true. After the first week she made it clear who she liked and didn't like in the classroom. So many times she tried to not enter my homework points so hold on to your graded work do not throw it away! Her lectures are super boring and she is a snapper.
Boring lecturer, also has a moody personality, and unprofessional. Also goes overboard with group projects
She was very unprofessional mocks students, changes the syllabus at her own convenience. Is also very moody lots of homework and group projects her lectures are also super boring.
She tells students to participate in class discussions that there are no right or wrong answers & then she bites their heads off Infront of the class if she doesn't like your opinion. She is a real witch. & you better be ready for group presentations because there are a lot of them! Als the feedback she leaves on graded homework is very menacing.
Easy to pass if you do all the discussions and quizzes. She lets you retake quizzes and edit discussions if you turn it in on time. Lectures are 50/50 on boring, and she does occasionally call out students. She cares about the subject a lot, just a little opinionated.
Gives like 10 article and videos every week & you have to show up or you get no credit. Cant make up discussions. Super condescending and gives little to no feedback on assignments that are incomplete. The whole class is just what we learned while she sits back and judges. Really voices her opinion & gets mad when you don't agree with it.
The wench did everything that she could to prevent me from getting an A but she was not successful because I saved all my graded work and I aced all of her test. At the end of the semester she accused me of having an because of extra credit I told her no I have my A because I got A's on all my exams.
She's rude, judgemental, she has a quick temper. She also assigns a lot of group projects and isn't a fair grader. Like one girl in my group didn't even participate in our project and some how got more points than me when she graded our group presentation. I also think she didn't like me because I was the only straight Male in the class.
Crazy, scary, spooky, Hilarious
Pretends to have your wellbeing in mind, she doesn't care at all. Will fail you for missing even 3 classes, even if they're excused. All work is online and class is to "discuss" when half the class hasn't done anything. Emphasizes no deadlines but that's the biggest lie of them all, refused to grade any of my stuff in the last month.
Thus professor was to this date my favorite professor I've ever had. She is extremely knowledgeable about women in the arts. Her lectures were prerecorded and we met once a week to discuss. The discussions are engaging and casual yet professional. It always felt welcoming to a diverse audience. The class was so fun and I honestly miss it.
One of the best professors I've had. Her lectures are so very interesting and she's very great at leading group discussion. Grades are based on completion except for reflections and projects. Easy A and very caring!
Her class was boring and get ready to do a lot of group projects. She also asked us to leave her a good review because she knows she has a lot of bad reviews. I am leaving the review she deserves. On a scale of 1 to 10 she is a -4
Worst Professor ever. She has a no food policy but she will eat snacks in class. She snaps on students for no reason. Homework assignment is due every class. She gives a lot of test and forgets to enter your points so hold on to your graded papers don't throw them away. She goes out of her way to be mean THUS she is not worth taking.
As a person she is really mean and super snobby and narcissistic. As a Professor she is boring and puts the class to sleep. She also gives out a lot of homework I had more homework from her class than my other classes combined. And just way too many group projects too.
I read all the comments but I had no choice I had to take her I needed this class to graduate and even though I passed the class it was hell being in her class. The comments about her are true she really is mean and bullies her students it seemed like she was doing everything she could to get some students to quit. People like her shouldn't teach.
Yuck don't take care you will regret it. Wear earplugs in her class and just study yourself. Showing up class is mandatory she will give you minus points if you are absent. Don't forget to bring your ear plugs she yells at students for no reason every class it gets annoying. I just showed up to not lose points. And her study guide is useless.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who couldn't stand her 😂 Her 5 group projects were just overboard. The threat feedbacks she left on our papers were just unnecessary. Like threatening to fail us or drop us from the class just because we gave a opinion that didn't agree with hers even though she encouraged us to leave a opinion. Unprofessional.
She makes her students write an essay every class about what they learned and wants our feedback. But be careful because if you give feedback that she doesn't want to hear she will make your life hell. But that's not it you also have group projects you have to do for her class and on top of that there's 5 exams and 3 quizzes and a Final.
The book for her class was the most expensive one. And she won't let you use an older version it has to be the newest edition or she will drop you from her class. A lot of group project and a lot of individual homework and she is a Karen.
She asked some of us if we could come and leave a good comment to boost her poor rating. So I'm here to do the exact opposite. Sorry not really sorry but she gets what she deserves. Cool it on the group project and on disrespecting students Infront of their peers.
If you are reading this take a different Professor.
Don't take this Pompous witch.
She asked me if I could leave a good review for her. Hahaha some of the comments below are funny but so true 😂 Sorry Diane but I got to keep it 💯. Diane Palmer gives out way too many group projects and is very very rude. I give her a F
She's very combative with her students. Her class lectures will put you to sleep. She gets her classes mixed up & will ask you to turn a assignment that she gave out to her other class. Homework every class & you have to write a 2 to 3 page essay on her lecture but be careful if she doesn't like your opinion she will leave nasty notes on your essay
Book is expensive and she won't allow you to use a older version of you can't afford she will drop you from her class she's that mean. Her class is also test heavy and the group projects they were just too many. Like 1 or 2 are ok but she gave us 4 and it was a 8 week class. Also homework every class.
4 group projects , homework every class, Also work with classmates in your group projects. Write an essay for every class too about her lecture she wants to hear your opinion if you liked her lecture she wants you to say her lecture was wonderful if you're honest & even tell her in a nice way what you didn't like she comes at like a angry teenager
Humanities isn't hard it's actually an interesting subject to learn but she really goes out of her way to make it hard and boring. And she needs to fix that rud attitude of hers.
I agree 💯 with the comment below me.
Diane Palmer gets 👎🏼 from me.
Boooring 😴
She is awful. Get ready to do a lot of group projects get ready to be insulted by her during one of her "class discussions" "It's ok class please share your opinions there are no wrong answers" Then you say something that she doesn't like & she forgets she said all that yells out loud "YOU'RE WRONG!" So what happened to there are no wrong opinions?
Terrible Professor I don't recommend her 👎🏼
She Su¢ks!
👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
Get ready to do group projects
She was awful
Boring lectures, homework every class , group projects and solo projects and test heavy
She was a nightmare. Don't take care.
I took her in person class and called on students in order for them to share their ideas. I am not the student to like to be called on so if you don't like that either then don't take her in person class. She lectured for the entirety of the class and the lectures were soooo boring. Would not recommend her.
If you would like to keep anything above an A I recommend looking into another professor for this course. Her method of grading is flawed and she does not follow her own instructions on assignments. Not to mention the amount of vocal assignments you need to submit. At least one every single week, terrible experience.
She was very nasty toward students. She had many mood swings. Got her classes mixed up at times. Hold on to your grades work she sometimes forgets to enter your points. Just all around nasty and her lectures are super boring.
