Hard but really knows her stuff
Hard but really knows her stuff
The AP courses are challenging to say the least. However, you are in good hands with Diane. She was always available after class and during office hours to answer my questions. Excellent professor!
micro 210 is a tough class, but way fun, challenging, but Diane teaches great! i love her A&P class too, but it's even harder than micro. study hard, and you'll do well. she's a great teacher!
If you take her online class you will have to practically memorize the textbook to pass her tests. They are incredibly hard. You can get 100% on all assignments, study hard for the tests, and still get a 2.0 in the class because her tests are so difficult.
Took Diane for AP 104 and took 2 cadaver anatomy classes with her at Bastyr! What an awesome teacher!!! Very hard and knows her stuff
She was great. I took her online class and loved it! it wasnt too hard or too easy, you just had to read the chapters and study! She also had lots of extra credit!
The format of this class is very structured and she's quick to provide grades and post notes for this online class. She does not provide much extra information on blackboard, but if you do the reading, then you'll be okay. She is very clear in the assingments and offers extra credit throughout the quarter in the quizzes and discussion boards.
She really knows her stuff to say the least! and she is very helpful and her study guides are crystal clear and they make up 100% of the material on tests
She knows her stuff and can teach it! Her class is tough but you will learn a lot. She is really nice and very helpful. Best teacher I have ever had.
Dr. Pelletier is a tough cookie, but she knows her stuff. Make sure you feel REALLY sure of yourself if you are going to talk to her. She is super smart, and really a pretty great teacher.
Diane was a fabulous teacher! I took an online class and with the post assignments for the week and reading material you were more than prepared for the tests. You are basically teaching yourself but Diane is available to answer your questions and will explain things clearly. I loved the post assignments! She also allowed for extra credit.
Diane is such a wonderful, knowledgeable teacher. I took this class online, and enjoyed the weekly post assignments. If you keep up with the reading, you'll be prepared for the tests every week. If you have any questions, she can answer them perfectly. Very good class!
A&P is a hard course. Most people who take it know it and are prepared to work hard. I did just that but having Diane as a teacher was very frustrating. You never knew what was going to be on the test. Even with a good knowledge of what's in the text you could fail the exam. No homework/extra credit was offered to improve your overall grade either.
I took Diane's class online. I really did enjoy it. You have to read the chapters in depth the online post assignments are hard but not to bad if you have read the chapters. Just beware the tests are really really hard. The way she writes the questions can be very confusing.
Very helpful, if you study the given material you should do great!
This class was extremely hard with her, if you asked a question & didnt word it right she would ask you to come back and ask the question again, you never know what is going to be on the test, you need to study at least 2 hours a night to pass. I passed but will retake 241 fall for better grade.
Diane is a great teacher. She definitely wants her students to succeed. She is very challenging, her tests can be difficult; it requires a lot of studying. However, she really is a great teacher.
This was by far the easiest science class I took. It was an Online AP Human Survey class and it was SO simple and I learned alot. You have one assignment a week, it isnt SUPER big but it definitely doesnt take too long to do. Then a quiz at the end of the week. Super great class, easy A. Highly Recommend If Taking Online!
Her AP100 is great prep for her other ap classes. Her enthusiasm and overall charisma are infectious. (Didn't think I'd miss her classes THIS much!) Enjoyed her occasional personal stories. Tests always seemed slightly harder than expected. Use the myaandp website practice quizes and tests and review her notes for good scores!
I took Diane's class for ap 100 level and 200 level as well as microbiology. I thought she was a wonderful teacher and was always willing to help. I was challenged in her classes but did very well due to the course work and her help.
I took both BIO 241 and 242 with Diane. Both classes were very challenging. But if you attend class regularly and keep up with your reading, you will succeed in the class! Tests were pretty difficult, so make sure you review your notes and the textbook! Diane is very helpful and will help you if you are struggling.
The online course is great! Easy, simple, not difficult but also you end up learning, so that's good! If you need this class, take it online. You'll save tons of time because this class is the way to go if you need AP 100. =)
I really enjoyed my time with Dr. Pelletier. She is a very good, very helpful instructor that excels at giving her students opportunities to "dig a little deeper" into the material. If you want to learn, you want Dr. P for your instructor. Be aware her exams are very, very challenging. You will be thinking and re-thinking every answer carefully!!
Class was surprisingly easy. You must read the book (or at least know the chapter summaries) to get good grades on your quizes. She is an easy grader as long as you do the work. I took this class online and you REALLY have to try to do bad in this class.
I am taking AP100 online with her and it is very easy, yet informative. My only complaint is that she has problems using the online class format. Quizzes are often posted late and she NEVER responds to emails. Also, quizzes are posted on Friday and due Sunday, so you will have to work on the weekend.
Had her for 241 & 242 and she is really awesome! Her exams and quizzes are always over material we've covered, she's easy to approach for help, and she's a really GREAT teacher. A must take!
Dr. Pelletier is awesome!! She is very informative, extremely knowledgeable, and cares for her student's success. Her lectures are in depth and interesting, and her labs actually get you engaged and into the material. Her exams and quizzes are very cerebral, so bring your "A game" and study hard. You will learn a lot in her classes! Enjoyed it!
Diane is easily the best lab professor I have ever had. She is very easy going and understands the value of comfort for her students in this stressful class. She doesn't make the class harder than it needs to be like professors tend to do. The labs arent hard but you must attend every one of them. Dont be scared of micro, just get a good professor!
She is so disorganized in her online classroom! Random when grading, you might get a 100% on one and then the next for no real reason she docks you. Her tests are very long with a very short timeframe allowed to complete. The only plus was she gave additional extra credit at the end of the quarter. I would think twice about taking her again.
I was nervous to take this class because I am not good at science. It is by far my worst subject. BUT I am actually doing pretty well in her online class. I find that the post assignments are fairly easy. Her tests are okay, not easy but not hard easy. She just words things differently than the book which threw me off a little bit. Good teacher!
Challenging class, prof wants her students to understand topics and uses different methods to convey info. Lab class attendance is critical. Study lecture notes and review text book and you'll do well. She is very knowledgeable, has a great sense of humor and makes the class interesting.
She is really helpful but her test are out of the world. Many occasions the tests would include questions she didnt utter a word about during class. If you are a 4.0 student, make sure you have extra time to put into this class, youll need it.
Terrible teacher. Pick a different anatomy teacher please
Diane is very unprofessional and her study guides do not prepare you at all for the weekly quizzes.
She is a terrible professor and very unprofessional. Don't get on her bad side or she will tear down your grade no matter how good you are at anatomy
She tries to make tests difficult on purpose..even if you understand the chapters you could very much fail..take someone who doesn't like to play games and is more straight forward
Just buy the book if you want to take the class and teach yourself. She doesn't teach you anything and she is not willing to answer questions or help.
Her study guides must not be updated with the book we use. She will ask questions on the study guide that are NOWHERE in the book. Her tests are very unreasonable too for just an intro anatomy class and she NEVER responds to emails or helps
She might be better for on campus classes. As for her online classes, do not take it from her. she does the minimum she has to do during the summer and she doesn't have time to help apparently.
This is a useless class..if you want to learn this isn't the teacher for you..she doesn't teach at all or answer emails..the book is not helpful..you can't find any answers to her studY guides in the book..u have to look a ton of them up...the book is terrible..a waste of money..I bought a different anatomy book 2 weeks into the class
Perhaps the class would be better if it wasn't online.
Terrible class. She is not helpful and don't expect her to answer emails or questions. It is as if you are teaching yourself. Sometimes assignments are not even posted early in the week, which reduces the amount of time you have to do them. Quizzes are designed so you cannot do well on them no matter how much you study.
Horrible Class . Hw is easy for the most part but the quizzes have nothing to do with the test… It felt like a 200 or 300 level class because of the lack of instruction and level of difficulty… I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER..
If you don't mind self-teaching then go ahead and take this class, otherwise pick another professor. She rarely gives lectures or shows power point slides but most of her exam questions are based on the chapter guides she provides. You have to look up most if not all of the information you're supposed to regurgitate back on the lab quizzes.
Honestly, at the beginning I though I would fail this class. It seems overwhelming in the beginning, but its very easy. 1 discussion post w/ replies a week plus a quiz. Prof. is not very helpful and you're on your own with most of the book, but with Google and your book, you can get a good grade in this easily. And there is no final exam.
Diane is extremely knowledgeable in this subject. She doesn't lecture very much, but provides hands on ways to learn and understand new information. She expects you to work for your grade. If you read the textbook and come to class every day, you will do fine.
Diane is a great teacher. Her lectures may kind of be boring, but it's easy to follow along. For the tests, all of the questions are derived from the chapter guide that she provides, some from class discussions. I honestly never read the book to avoid over thinking on the test. Also, you can ask her anything question related to lecture.
Assignment overload, tests are not what you were studying for, extra credit is a joke, and the material is not what was expected. If I could have taken a different class I would have. Hating AP100...
Diane is very knowledgeable, but her student ends up doing 90% of the work on their own. She covers about half of what should be covered in lecture and then it is up to you to read about and become familiar with the rest to the point that you would be comfortable being tested on it. Tests are very very hard. Wonderful person, not so great teacher.
If you aren't invested in reading and spending 70%+ of your time for this class, you'll have a tough time. She doesn't hold your hand, and this course is mainly self teaching with supplemental lectures from her. Her exams are mainly application, so even reading won't help unless you know how to apply it in different scenarios.
These health Science classes are challenging but rewarding. Diane made me work for my 3.0!
Don't take this class in summer. Cramming 11 weeks of material in 8 weeks was tough. Diane didn't have time for us. She didn't answer questions in class because we had so much to get through & she packed up & left right at the end of class. If you tried to ask questions at the end, she didn't stop packing up or make eye contact when talking to you.
Assignments aren't based off the book, she likes you to use critical thinking and problem solving to real-world situations, you can't lean on your text book for answers.
She's a stickler! You better follow ALL instructions to a T. Don't miss one bit of information, you'll end up getting no credit. Be extremely thorough and cross all T's dot all I's. She runs an extremely tight ship. I will not be taking another class from her.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!! FAIR WARNING
There is so much more content that you have to learn on your own outside of class time than you ever really do in her lectures. I would not take again with this professor. When you ask her clarity questions on content she barely ever answers them or helps you.
Diane is fantastic, though she expects you to be on top of it. She is very helpful and kind when you need questions. Make sure, if you take this class, that you read the entire syllabus within the first couple days because she starts out with a bang. Read all of the material that she gives outside of the textbook, it's important. She was very clear
Online version- read 2 chapters a week (about 100 dense pages), 2 chapter guides a week(8-15 pages long), 2 MAP tests a week (75-100 questions each), 2 discussion posts and 2 replies (grading criteria difficult), quiz in canvas each week (30 mins 30 questions). If you ask questions don't expect a reply you are on your own.
I think Diane is a better teacher than people give her credit for. She clearly loves science. She has high expectations, but in the real world, employers expect professional work. This is good practice. Most of the pts are in the hw & labs, so a test shouldn't ruin your grade. Lab reports are typed with citations. Be sure to turn things in on time.
Great class! Exciting and enthusiastic lectures, clear instructions, enjoyable. Got a 4.0.
Seriously, if you wanna get good grade of ap 100, you should never ever take her class.
She is too tough for the discussion homework and it is so hard to get a good grade.
Diane makes you work for your grade. She indeed expects a lot from you but is not very hard as people say. She is tough in her instructions but not her subject matter. She gave a whole quiz and a discussion as n extra credit to cover up the grade!
Professor Diane expects a lot for her students. The workload is pretty heavy for a 100 level course . The Discussion board are graded tough. She offers a lot of extra credit almost 65 points
Diane is a great lady! I took her Biology 160 class for Summer and it was intense. This however was my first biology class taken in college. She is very clear on her grading. There is ALOT of homework but as long as you turn everything on time you will do fine! Study study! Interesting class and she makes learning fun in her lectures!
Diane's one of the best professors I've had at GRC. She's very organized; goes out of her way to send weekly agendas, updates, etc. Yes, there's a lot of work, but repetition and critical thinking help to remember the info (and there's a lot of it). A&P is not an easy subject, but we get multiple learning methods here. I'd take her class again.
If you're serious about getting into an amazing Nursing school, her class is third grade easy when it comes to the classes required once in the bachelor programs most nursing students wish to attend. Thankful for her passion and thentime she puts into this class.
What a great teacher, she defiantly makes you think. Her lecture exams are some of the hardest tests I've taken. Come to class everyday and study hard and you will do great. Ask questions when needed, she is very helpful and wants you to pass her class. I wish i could have taken her for AP 2 but she did not teach it next quarter.
Good god, this teachers is so bad. Hardest class ever. She makes her homework so you cant look it up in the book or even online. Horrible idea taking it online. DO NOT TAKE THIS if your looking for a easy natrual science. AWFUL, peace.
Once you begin her class it will seem overwhelming with the work load and reading, but it wasn't bad at all and it gets easier after the first week of class. She is very helpful in class and online; and she is lenient when it comes to missing homework and quizzes. The labs that you do on the lab day are very easy. Quizzes and test are all online.
Appears to be unaware that this is a level 100 course. The reading, mastering homework, and her own long and convoluted homework takes up so much time. Put in the work you'll get a good grade. There's tons of opportunities for extra credit. However, after seeing what other students turned in on a weekly basis, their bad grade is their own fault.
All 3 MB exams are online so basically use quizlit n 55 questions (timed). There are paper assignments that are worth good amounts of points so do well in them. On paper assignments you can use google to get the correct answers. Lecture attendance is not mans Tory but lab days are. Every week you have pre lab assignment online. The final is in clas
Do not take Diane unless you want a low grade. Had her for BIO 160 and 241. She grades hard on everything, lectures in class are over complicated, exams are also extremely tough. For BIO 241 and 242 I Suggest Sean Sapunar, great professor.
Her homework and tests were on Pearson Online for our class. I did like this format, as there were great opportunities to enhance your studying and the test were based off of the book so you knew where to focus study. Lots of extra credit was offered as well. She is very intelligent, which can come off as intimidating, but she has a fun side too!
For a 100 level course there is a lot to learn in very little time and Diane makes you work for your grade. I have nothing overly negative but get ready to spend time on homework, it looks easy and normally is but tedious, takes forever, and better cite your sources! Make sure you're ready to work.
She'll knock you points on lots of small details, and there is a LOT of reading, but no midterm, no final, and you end up with a lot of extra credit at the end without having to do any extra work. She provides links to lots of videos, too, which is helpful. There's a lot of work and reading, but if you put in the effort, you can get a good grade.
This is a 100 level course work, only take this class if you are out of options, even then you will dread it. the worst class i have ever took, tough grader, picks at everything. horrible teacher overall. i know it's college but the amount of work is ridiculous.
She makes you buy textbook that youll never open. All tests are online and all answers are on quizlet. Only final was in class and everybody did bad because nobody studied for a whole quarter. I didnt get anything from that class for myself.
If youre okay with doing 2 Dynamic Study modules, 2 homework courses, a quiz, an assignment (the assignment takes about 5 hours in one sitting), as well as studying 2 chapters every single week then this is the class for you. But keep in mind that she is extremely tough at grading. Otherwise, I would not recommend this class.
For sure the worst professor at GRC. If you want to learn Biology, do not take this class, because you will learn nothing. HW is just learning off of google, and you must purchase a book for the website online code. Spending 150 dollars on something you will never use is sorta annoying..... :(
I was frustrated with the amount of work, considering this is an entry level biology class. With how new to science I am, the amount of work made it feel impossible to soak up the actual material. Throughout the quarter, the class seemed to get easier. The final is easy as long as you study for it. Diane is very fun & her lectures are interesting!
If taking AP 100 online is your only option, go ahead. I would personally not recommend it. Weekly assignments consist of 2 study guides, 2 DSMs, 2 homework assignments, a dreadful assignment that takes roughly 4 hours, and a test, which is only available on the weekend. You can kiss your weekend plans goodbye if you take this class!
She is like having an English teacher for a AP teacher. Get ready to write a lot and make sure you do spell check and grammar check. She is all over the place and not very organized.
A lot of the negative reviews are about the difficulty of her class and the style of homework. However, I like the style of her teaching. The assignments she makes you do is full of reps so you can really learn the material just by completing the assignments. This class is really getting what you put in and she also helps you a lot if you ask.
I took Ap 100 with her and it was one of the worst classes I ever took. She does not teach you anything. All she does is tell you to read the book and do the homework and quizzes. The homework assignment takes 3 - 6 hours to complete. Her quizzes are 30 minutes long with 30 questions. I would reconsider taking this class unless you really need to.
I took her online classes for the last season of college and my feeling is great. I learned a lot of great new things and really helpful lessons. There are no final exams in class, but be prepared to read and do a lot of homework. And in the end, no matter your score, you will be satisfied with it because it is your effort and everyone is fair.
Diane does not make any effort to have any sort of relationship with her students. She does not post lectures, she expects you to learn everything from the textbook and youtube. Most of the questions on the assignments and tests aren't even things that you learn in the reading. I do NOT recommend this class.
Weekly Assignments: Youtube videos, long chapters, lecture notes, powerpoints, huge lab/discussion forum, and two tests. The dynamic study module is optional but very helpful. At the end, a 4-part covid module, timed final and lab practical exam. Health professions, take this class seriously. DO NOT SLACK. Teacher is awesome and makes you work.
Honestly, if you want free time and don't want to work hours and hours and days and days for 1 class, say good bye to that if you take this class. She just loves giving SO much homework. Good luck.
Be prepared to completely teach yourself. She links to pinterest boards & youtube videos and the videos don't even cover the questions in her assignments. Her assignments are very long, complex, with unclear contradictory instructions- and she does not tell you where to find the info. to teach yourself (Hint: it's not in the textbook either).
Professor requires a text that is prohibitively expensive, tests are 30 questions and only 30 minutes are allotted, also, zero late work policy and no extra credit opportunities. Lastly, the amount of retention of information demanded is unreasonable. All of this displays a disregard for working class adult students, students with children etc.
This class was strictly online only. The homework is easy as long as you read the chapter and take notes. Quizzes are timed and due every Sunday by 11:59 pm. There is a lot of homework and note taking because she puts out PowerPoints but overall the class isnt bad. She doesnt accept late work but she does offer extra credit!
Don't take her classes unless you're ready to be criticized for every little thing.
Okay, yes this class is a lot of work, but it's also a pre med class... It's meant for pre med students so get ready to work. She doesn't post lectures so you have to teach yourself out of the textbook, however most of the test questions are straight out of the textbook. It's intense but the level of work you should be prepared for in pre med.
