She grants extentions without any need for explaination and is very willing to work with students if they are having problems. She is also very easy to get along with. *Hint: She loves dogs!*
Don't take her
I thought this class was goin to be hard at first but it was EASY! She's an awesome teacher and makes it easy for you to understand. I would definatley take her again; not only for the A but because u learn something
I'm in the Honors program, so I ended up having her for COSK1221 and COSK2220. Even though we were required to take her, she still made the class interesting and fun. The first semester was hard, but if you take her again, her class will be a breeze.
I am in the honors progam and we were required to have her for Communication Skills 1 and 2. The first semester was hard, but then the second semester was a breeze once we got to know her. Ask her about her babies to kill class time.
Nice person. But looks are deceiving. She was difficult and gave so much that it made me wonder if she knew we had other classes. GUAPO! So SICK of stories about her dog. Too strict. Don't take! Made me want to drop school and work at McDonalds the rest of my life.
Very interesting class. Makes the student become comfertable in front of the classroom. Teacher relates well with students.
She is a good teacher do not get me wrong. Her expectations are so high though, that sometimes I think she forgets she is teaching 1st level english people. She helped a great deal. Her grading was harsh, your "A" papers are like "C"'s to her. She definitely preps you for the real world though. :
Liars! She was terrible and awful. I did not enjoy her class one bit. Was rude and degrading to both myself and others. Very difficult to understand and must think that is the only class you're taking. Grades as if you were applying for a Nobel prize! Three words: DO NOT TAKE!
i felt she graded too hard, although this does help improve students in the long run. she was unwilling to give extensions to me.
worst teacher i've ever. At the beging of the semester there were 25 students in class by mid semester there were only 12. Horrible person, lowered the self esteem of her students. Nothing is ever good enough for her. The work is hard and very unclear. DONT TAKE HER! she's just a mean lady.
Shes really hard. teaches every class like her honors classes. Although all her honor kids like her. She treats the rest of us like were dumb. Grades too hard, and thinks her class is the only one you take. Way to much work for a speech class. Never take her!
Great teacher, loves to teach and takes a genuine interest in her students. She sets clear expectations that push you to be your best. However, not for lazy students. Only for students who definitely want to learn and improve their writing and with her as a teacher, they will.

Really personable, and wants best for students. Be prepared to learn - not for the lazy! Hard marker, but it pays off - I promise! She expects effort, but you will end up much better prepared for the real world when you pass her class! I loved her classes!
Oh please! She was dreadful! She was very mean and graded as if you were professionals. Offered little to no help when it came to assignments. Very unpersonable and uninteresting class. And trust me, I am NOT the only person who feels that way. Avoid!
Has an attitude towards students. If you'e not a brown-noser she won't acknowledge you. Grades ridiculously hard and forgets that we are not professionals. Not really helpful or friendly, and if you do just 1 thing wrong, switch your class she'll hate you the rest of the semester
grades way too hard, kids that take her class aren't english majors, only the kids that suck up to her get real help, she picks favorites.she reminds me of a high school teacher on a power trip.Any effort you put in in her class will not be good enough for her. Her "C" is an "A" for anyone else.
Probably the worst professor at the school. She is just some aging woman who is mad at the world. Take this class...if you're a suck-up and feel like treating her like a queen. But if you have any pride at all, pass on her class. You can write the best paper ever, but if she doesn't like you she'll give you a terrible grade. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She thinks she is better than everybody else...and she's NOT. She is stuck-up, rude, unhelpful, and a flat out bad teacher. The only kids who like her are her honors students...the kind that like to be teacher's pet. It makes me sick to watch an honors class. It's like watching a fight for who can "kiss butt" the most. And she loves it so much!
Dr. Todd Bucci is once of the best teachers i've ever had. She works extra hard to help the students. The only bad thing is that she grades tough, but it really helps with what to expect in later courses. Best of all, shes one of the best looking teachers on campus!
Great teacher, great materials, but a little unclear. Makes you love the work, makes class interesting, but sometimes unnessisarily difficult and overly controlling with projects and presentations. Still, you won't regret tking her!
i enjoyed the class and pulled off good grades... she does expect you to put time into your work...but you should do that anyway, people who complain about her are lazy and want the easy way out.
Oh please! Get over yourself, she's a miserable professor! She assigns a workload that is unreasonable and grades on the most outrageous scale I've seen. She's quite stuck on herself and is of no help outside of class. And trust me, I'm not the only one who feels this way. Avoid at pretty much all costs or you'll regret it!!!
I have Professor Bucci right and although my work load is a lot, she is very helpful and I'm glad that she's my professor for Argument and Research, soooo if you have to take it...take Bucci!
Aside from not being the most attractive thing to look at for 50 minutes, she is just a horrible teacher and person. Unless you're one of her loser, boring honors students who kiss her butt, she will give you terrible grades. She's mean and unhelpful. She is a waste of time and maybe the worst professor at RMU.

College is college, it isn't high school anymore so don't expect to be able to slack off and get good grades. She's a fair teacher and I've learned alot from her. You can't be an idiot or lazy if you take her class. Do the work and you'll get a good grade. She's a great teacher and I wish I was staying at RMU so I could take her next semester!
Awful and terrible! Not worth the enormous and colossal amount of work this 'teacher' assigns. Very pompous and uncaring professor. Grades as if she were teaching doctoral students, does not allow for errors! And God forbid if you'd need assistance outside of class! And to the previous poster: Aww, you're leaving? Good riddance!

She is HORRIBLE. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANY CLASS. I learned NOTHING from her. If you are black, do not take her for African American Lit and Experience...she will only annoy you.
She lives in a fantasy world, gives way too much work. Avoid her unless you are a kiss ass
She is very nice, but she is also head of the communications department. I really like having her and she is very helpful and clear on everything, no hidden surprises. I would take her again any day.
She tries to be so politically correct, you can't stand her, and she often times insults you trying to be so politically correct. She thinks she's above everyone. Very hard. Don't take.
She one of the best instructors I have had. Loved the class. There was a lot reading to do but it was all worth it. Please do take her class.
Welcome to college, kiddies. Dr. Bucci is indeed a difficult teacher, and she does tend to be demanding. However, you learn an immense amount of material that helps you throughout the entire course schedule at RMU. Tough, but very good. I would recommend her to anyone whose willing to put in the work and time. Slackers need not apply.
Loved her! She is a great professor. Very thorough, enlightening, and kind. This class wasn't exactly easy, you have to actually do work, but this IS college.
I love this lady! get on her good side and you will be fine! She knows her**** and is so helpful its ridiculous! There is alot of work but do it and your golden I wuld take her again in a heartbeat
she has an attitude and i didnt learn much, i dispised this class
She was a good teacher, but wants everything to be perfect. She is a tough grader also.
Hard but fair. She's very specific about what she wants and expects you to do it. I learned a lot in her class. The downside is defiantly the weekly quiz but there's a trick to taking notes for them: write down bullets and headings and you'll do fine. Also, she's actually very nice. If you ask her for help she's willing to work with you.
Did not enjoy the class.
Dr. Bucci is an awesome teacher, and I have learned so much from her. She demands a lot of time and effort, but I feel like I am getting something out of the class. Any time I need her help, she is there to go over my papers. She is specific about what she expects, which makes it easier to cater to her and get a good grade.
A quality professor who challenges every student. Most "pop" quizzes are pre-announced, and are "open notes." Reading assignments are integral in understanding the course material. Furthermore, a research paper and speech is required, with the option to rewrite the former. Overall, one of the few people that deserves the title of "teacher."
Brilliant professor. I had her for African American Lit. Fun, understanding, kind and easy to work with. Brought chocolate to class for us sometimes. Do the work, which isn't difficult, and reap the rewards. Course work is very riveting!
Very strict with what she wants, believes there is only one way to do things and that would be her way. Every assignment you will get a detailed sheet outlining what you need to do point by point. Follow this exactly or you'll be lucky to get a C. There are easy weekly quizzes which can boost your grade. She is strict, but very knowledgable.
She is phenomenal in the sense that I learned a lot. You will get 1 or 2 open note quizzes every time you attend her class, so you better do the reading. You don't have to buy the books or bring them to class, you can use the library. STRICT GRADER. But very specific about what she wants. She's tough because she just gives so much work.
She is a tough grader, but her intent is to make students better writers, and she is very clear on what she wants on assignments. The books assigned were easy to read and engaging, and the amount of reading was normal for a lit class. She's also more than willing to look over papers to help you get an A, and she respects her student's opinions.
I had this class as an elective and it was rough. She assigns readings and quizzes every other day you have her and the reading is so time consuming. She treats the class as if it is a course for your major.
She assigns a ton of busy work and there's a quiz on the reading material basically every class. Very clear grading criteria so if you follow her instructions exactly you're good to go. Takes time to make sure you understand a concept thoroughly and is a very thorough grader. Also she randomly brings donuts and chocolate to class. Positive teacher.
Yes, she's demanding, but it is college, folks, and you're supposed to be there to learn. She gives grading rubrics and detailed assignments so that you know exactly what her expectations are.
Moderately difficult class. She is a tough grader. I do not recommend taking her class online. Having her in class and face to face would probably be more beneficial. Nice lady but hard to please.
I have gotten A's and B's my entire life in school until this class. I am a senior taking this class because I have to. I did every assignment on time and still finished with a C+. I have never had a tougher grader in my life. Good luck to anyone who takes any class with this abysmal grading system. What a joke of a class
Grades insanely harsh. Rude and believes her opinions are facts. Will give you a D or a C on anything you write. Easy quizzes but they aren't weighted enough to make up for her failing you on everything else. I am a Dean's list student 4 semesters in a row, she just ruined that. Do not take. Also opens assignments midday Friday due Sunday night...
Very tough grader. She will roast you. She picks out every little detail you do wrong on papers and citations, so be extremely careful.
She's very fair because she gives clear detailed assignments and grading rubrics so you know exactly what she expects. She will also give feedback on your paper outline. She gave me feedback a bunch of times.. Its a literature class so there is a lot reading but the material is interesting. The quizzes and final exam are super easy.
She was the worst. Assignment was due Sunday night and didn't even open the assignment until Sunday morning. I sent her an email saying I work Sunday 3 to 11 pm and I submitted the assignment at 1 Am. So, yes I was late but she was suppose to open the assignment Friday at noon. She took off a whole day worth of late points. AVOID HER COURSES!!!
Dr. Todd has been the worst literature professor I have ever had in either high school or college period. Her Blackboard is way too hard to navigate and is just extremely sloppy under the start here tab, she grades too hard and doesnt consider what students are going through, and threatens to fail students more often than not. Avoid at all costs.
This was the worst prof I have ever taken. This lady lives in her own little world where she does not think that a global pandemic is taking place. She is probably the coldest and most uncaring professor I have ever taken, very robotic. She doesn't treat you like an adult either, she condescends to you and writes everything in comic sans, very odd.
This is by far the worst, hardest class I've ever had in my whole life. My anxiety went through the roof when I got a 11/20 on a book discussion, I felt comfortable discussing with my peers. However, THAT WAS COMPLETELY WRONG!!! She made me feel stupid because of my errors on my paper I turned in, she gave it back with it covered in red ink.
The very first thing you notice when you start the class is just how poorly formatted the Blackboard shell is. Comic Sans and random highlights are everywhere which make it difficult to navigate. Grades way too harsh for a basic literature class. The only thing I learned from this class is that I should've taken the AP test in HS to not take this.
Everything that everyone is saying here is completely accurate. Feedback is provided on assignments but once you fix that there is always something else and your grades gets worse the more you fix. Hardest grader that I have encountered in my entire academic career spanning high school and college. You're always wrong in this class.
This teacher was the absolute worst I've ever encountered. Avoid at all cost.
The Blackboard shell is laid out so that it is easy to follow. The work is minimal; four books, four quizzes, four discussions, only one short paper and a final exam. The quizzes and exam are really easy especially if you use the study guides.
Yes she is a tough grader, but that is her job. She is also very helpful and kind, if you ever need help do not hesitate to ask her!
It seems like a lot of work, but it is more than manageable. She is quick to answer emails and grade. Honestly really nice if she sees you're trying.
This teacher doesnt give you the opportunity to improve in her class and grades harshly & responds with condescending emails.
Horrible professor. Does not give good feedback. Does not explain anything if you need help or have questions. No teaching involved whatsoever. Definitely would not recommend this professor.
Not only is she the worst professor I have encountered so far, she is extremely unorganized about everything in this course. The due dates are unclear as well as what her requirements are for each assignment, I HIGHLY recommend NOT taking her for any reason especially if this course is a requirement to graduate because you are wasting ur time w/her
I will never take her again. Very tough grader even though there are few assignments. She is a nice woman when you email her but her class is a no from me!
Easily the worst professor Ive ever had in my life. Doesnt care about her students at all, unclear directions on assignments, and overall doesnt know what shes doing. Her class is honestly a joke, and her syllabus contradicts her directions. Grades papers like were PhD students. Avoid at all costs, absolutely never again.
Most condescending teacher ever. Has you do discussion posts and grades you poorly with one line of feedback on something as small as an in text citation miss usage. Then she expects you to do extra credit for the points you already earned! She isn't helpful, isn't friendly... and don't even think about emailing for help, she will HANG you.
Very difficult grader; will get snippy with you in emails if you have questions.
I tried to give this professor the benefit of the doubt after reading reviews on her but the reviews are so accurate. Do not take her, you will cry way more than needed.
This class is challenging but if you read all the required books and take the time to answer the discussion questions, then you will do fine. Do not use outside research as she wants only your opinion and point of views. As long as you read and put time aside for this class, then you will pass.
As I walk in my graduation ceremony this weekend I am hit with the reality that this class-African American Lit destroyed my Deans list streak, GPA, and chance for honors. An A/B student who received a D. Fellow classmates received Ds and Cs as well. We went to the Dean with no help because she is tenured. Please do not make this mistake as well.
Offered extra credit, gave feedback on EVERYTHING, responded to emails fast. Not a lot of work for a 15 week class. One paper, quizzes and discussion threads. I swear, professors never read the discussions but she does. And the readings and content were interesting..
Dr. Todd is a very helpful and understanding prof. However, this is college and her class is not a blow-off, procrastination-friendly course. You may have to work for your grade but she is very friendly and understanding. She grades hard on grammar but her quizzes are rather easy. Overall, a very good prof!
This professor was okay. There was reasonable amounts fo work and clear instructions given. However, she had us buy something like seven books for the course which I found to be a bit much. Anyone who takes a class with her needs to be prepared for tough grading. She took 4% off a discussion post because there was ONE comma in the wrong place.
This professor is great at responding to email, will proof read assignments but her grading is super rigorous and she will take points off for the tiniest things. Its hard to get above an B in her class and she is not willing to let you retake tests or discussion posts.
This class is english 1040 yet she grades very heavy. I am an engineering major and I am doing better in my math 3400 class than in this class. She does not explain how anything should properly be done. Reading the handouts is still not enough. Emailing her is also not helpful. She does give feedback but even as I refer back to it, it is not enough
I never felt like I was on the right track. I am a good student, however, I couldn't figure out this class. About half of the due dates were inconsistent with her emails and her explanations of what we did incorrect were tough to follow. I would advise against scheduling her.
Nasty Professor, if your looking for a AP level difficulty in a entry level college course she's your guest.
I would 100% advise against taking her. She grades grammar harder than you've ever seen, even though you will never use anything from this class in your professional career. If you miss so much as a comma, she will deduct 6 points from a 25 point assignment! She also takes points off for using TEXTUAL EVIDENCE!!! She says it's wrong. DO NOT TAKE!!!
She is a VERY tough grader and is not flexible. Prepare to read novels in very little time periods and have assignments be nailed when graded. She loves to take away 50% of your assignment grade because you missed a common. Definitely will not take again.
Didn't communicate well at all as to what was due, didn't have almost half of the classes.
She is a great person, but not the best professor. Sometimes her expectations are unclear, but she will give good feedback. Lots of reading but reading quizzes are not too bad and you can use your notes. It is a lot more work compared to other teachers giving this class.
Dr.Todd is an acquired taste. She has high expectations for her students.Sometimes her expectations are unclear, but just ask her.She truly does want her students to succeed. If you put in the effort and take her feedback into consideration you will be fine.I really enjoyed her class after I got used to her grading styleChallenging but not impossible
Do not take if you are in an online class. She talks down to students and uses her position of "power" to change dates, change her language, and change her mind on assignments and grading while making you feel responsible for it. And i got a good grade in the class.
For a 1040 class she grades with extreme expectations. Overall very disrespectful to students and wants to fail them. Expect emails mocking the class that she is failing everyone.
If you like to be penalized for minor errors, be talked to like a child, and not knowi when the assignments are due because they don't correspond with the syllabus… This is the class for you
Dr. Todd has high expectations, but if you put in the effort and use helpful study tools like Unstuckstudy, her class can be manageable. The workload is heavy, but engaging with the material and asking for clarification when needed can go a long way. Not the easiest professor, but doable with dedication.
Avoid this class by any means!!! And the professor!!!
Absolutely do not recommend this professor. Will take points away for the littlest things, and expects you to be perfect when that's not possible. The papers are a joke and the topics are limited. I also had her for literature and be prepared to read outdated books, and have unrealistic expectations for assignments for that class too. DO NOT TAKE!!
Do. Not. Take. Vague Discussion Prompts and the hardest grader I have ever had. Say goodbye to your GPA. I get As in my classes and I'm struggling to get higher than a C! Do not take EVER!
Gives almost 0 instructions on what to do and grades extremely difficult for no reason. This Prof will ruin your GPA
usually have all A's and I can't even get above a C, she grades extremely difficult and no matter what I do I cannot get over a C, I emailed her on advice of what I can do better and all she said was read the rubric, as if I wasn't doing that from the beginning, she changes dates constantly, and if you want to avoid being miserable then don't take
She is a very harsh grader, literally my whole entire class dropped, me thinking i'll be okay stayed...should have joined them. She literally never gives out 100% even on the most simple assignments that she says are correct. Very critical of everything you do. If you're taking argument and are looking for any easy A, you will not find it with her.
Only thing to say here is, don't take her.
This woman is a joke and graded things insanely harshly. She would grade us on rubrics that aren't even posted online and wouldn't let me redo work to get a better grade even through I was always submitting things on time. I've always been on Dean's list and this woman is gonna ruin it.
