Geat prof, makes Psychology interesting
Great prof, excellent lectures
great instructor - keeps your interest
Teaches in detail, kinda boring at times; young, beautiful & powerful
Very understanding and able to make students feel important
funny and interesting, seems to love what she does: very important
seeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeexy momma
Great Prof! You can tell she likes teaching. No papers!
Lovely teacher, she is absolutely wonderful... easily my favorite professor @ KUC. She knows her stuff, is very helpful and enjoys her teaching thoroughly. Also has a good sense of humor.
She is a very good teacher. No PAPERS :). she is understanding, funny and nice.
no final, no paper, four exams, fun group discussion, nice, easy going, british accent, funny, comfortable, what more can you get from a professor like this?
Awesome! Funny, likes to teach, wants you to learn. Tests are good, make sure you know your stuff. No final! 4 smaller exams, 1 paper. She's extremely understanding to your individual needs.
Awsome teacher!!!Her style definitely helps students learn more effectively. It might be helpful to do a little library online research on every topic just in case.... She likes participation and she likes to learn about her students. What else can I say&
she seemed pretty cool but in a 3 hour class she needs more time to be helpful, class was very rushed we would learn new thing on the day of the test which would then be on the test
No Comments
Had her for 1100 and 1200 and got a very high mark in both classes, shes awesome! TEaches extremely well so that you completely understand and her exams r very easy if u have read ur text and attended class; she makes everything really interesting
Dianne is awesome, funny, extremely helpful, and clear...I love her teaching style :) she moves on until everyone understands the topic...she wants you to understand the concepts, and wants students to learn...I recommend her :D
Diane is one of the best professors I've had at Kwantlen, if not the best. Her tests were very easy and she took a lot of time trying to make sure people understood concepts. Her teaching style made the classes fun and interesting.
Very nice. nO ESssssssssays/ :}
i found here way too hard. She is not approachable.
she always has some interesting stories and stuff to share with the class...her class discussions aren't very uptight, you just go with the flow and she tries to answer the students, questions and comments.
exellent teacher! really fun class! if u study, u'll do really well because she tells u what she wants and expects. she's super smart and helpfull. i totally recomend her... not one person dropped her class!!
I failed the course the first time, but got a B+ my second time at it. She is very thorough and covers the material well. She will go over it until everyone understands. If you work hard and prepare, you'll do fine. No slacking allowed..it'll show!
Diane was one of the best teachers I have ever had. She makes learning fun and makes sure that everyone understand concepts before moving on. I was dreading the class before i took it and she helped me understand and do well, work hard and u'll do great
wicked teacher. I hate math and with her i passed stats. Breaks it down so easy to u.stand. Have to be ready to work hard though. Work must be done for her classes, otherwise she gets mad. Strongly recommend her.
Shes a good teacher, very funny. no paper, just 3 tests, which she makes very clear on whats goin to be on it.
At first I thought her class was boring but after a couple of sessions realized that she's not that bad. Only 4 tests and all from the text. I would recomend her!~
HARD TESTS
My FAVOURITE teacher on campus. Teaching style is very helpful. Really friendly. Fun classes. NO FINAL! Exams are easy if u read the text. I definately recommend her!
She asks questions on materials covered in previous class. Her notes are very scattered.Tests include long essay questions. If you don't feel like to chat or talk in the class, don't pick her~
she wants to help, but she is often not available ather office hour. Her tests are hard for ones who are not confident with their writing skills.
Take Dianne. She's so helpful and cares about her students. Math is not my subject and I got an A- in her stats class.
shes really great..makes class interesting/entertaining..tests can sometimes be challanging if you dont study enough, but they are really straight forward she totally prepares you, i'd say its really easy to get at least a B...
She is a good teacher, but if your not one to talk in class i would not recommend her, she is hard on those who don't talk, almost gives off a vibe in class as though she doesn't like thoughs people. Other than that she is pretty good.
dont take her courses!
Good intructor, really makes you learn the stuff. A bit hard to approach and makes students learn through a bit of intimidation. Other than outwardly a bit coarse she is friendly if you put an effort into approaching her. Good class instruction and makes sure that students can do well if they try
big on name tags. will call on u if ur not paying attn or notices u strugglin. Intimidation is her style. Works though. Explains everything really well. Esp if not good in math. U need to do all the readings b4 class, or else! Would recommend her, eventhough a bit unapproachable. Will learn lots.
what a waste of my money
very smart & experienced but a harsh nag in class. I don't need to be harped at or snapped at in front of the class - last time I checked we are the ones paying her salary - maybe she should remember that.
Try counting the amount of times she says 'OK' in one class.
Very good teacher when it comes to explaining. usually fair tests, buit she treats u like a child. u have to have name tags and if ur not paying attention she picks on u in front of the-whole class she needs to remember that we are the ones paying for the class and if we want to participate we will
She is a good teacher, you must work hard at her class though, very big on name tags. And whoever said she was hot apparently was a little ****.....she isn't hot at all
I had her for Psych. Statistics. I was so scared before taking the class, but she is so nice and she helps you with anything, even if she has to go over it 20 times with you. I totally recommend her!!
She is a terrible professor. She tries to embarass and intimidate prople if they are not paying attention. She tries to make people look like fools if they don't know the answer. She is an academic elitist and doesn't like you if you are not getting a good grade. Stay away from her.
She's not bad, tests are somewhat difficult but knows what she's talking about. .
Absolutely the BEST prof ever. You have to work in her class, and she doesn't let people disturb others or slack. IF you want to learn something at the university level and work, then take her class, otherwise look for someone else.
Well, I am not a math guy, and I feared Statistics. However, I must say that I did well in Diane's class. Her style of picking on people did make me stay up till 6 in the morning to learn the stuff before class. It worked for me. I did awesome for not being a math guy. I did feel sorry for some students whom were lost. If you vow to study, she great
She is a good teacher. She is trying and making sure that you understand everything as clearly as possible. She picks on people only if they are annoying or not paying attention. In this course, she's open to anything that help you understand better, obvs. that's a good thing ;)
she has a great sense of humour but i didn't feel like it was fair overall she would rush your through material and test it without giving you enough time but i guess that's university...
she is EXTREMELY helpful and funny, and her midterms are easy (if you study. She wants the students to learn the materials and get high mark, so she always give "free points" to the students (the answer maybe is only 10% correct, but she will still give u the full mark)
GREAT TEACHER. really helpful and fun to attend her classes. MEMORIZE the text book, and look over your written notes and you'll ace all four of her exams :)
she's an ok prof, i didnt like how she picked on students so often, especially when the students didnt know the answers to the statistics questions she was asking. she rushed over some of the material & assigned homework on chapters she didnt even cover in class yet. u'll have to self-teach a lot from the textbook, but her exams are moderately easy
Dianne is one of the most fun profs I've had since entering uni! She really knows her stuff; helps you out when you need it. Her assignments are so easy, midterms are easier, there's no final. Read and memorize the entire textbook and there's no way you won't walk out with an A!
Diane is a great teacher, super enthusiastic and makes stats seem as easy as 1+1. Don't miss her lectures, you'll be screwed. She makes you do aplia (online hwk) and SPSS assignments (useless computer work done in the psych lab). Her hwk load is ridiculous! And if you don't show up for lecture you won't have a clue whats going on. GOOD LUCK.
She's a great prof, but she doesn't test or teach half the material she assigns as homework. When going through the Aplia assignments you will have to teach yourself half the concepts on your own as she doesn't teach those topics (and they won't show up on her exams). Annoying, but not too difficult
Dianne is a great prof and i really enjoyed her class! She kept everyone engaged! She tries really hard to make sure you arent bored. Her exams were pretty hard but there were lots of ways to bring up your mark! I would definitely take her again!!
She's an awesome prof and always tries to make her lectures engagingfunny. The exams are extremely easy if you study, and she doesn't cover the whole chapter in her lectures so you have to go over some of it by yourself. She's always willing to help you out though and never moves on until the whole class understands what she's talking about!
She always went over the previous weeks lesson which reminded everyone on what was learned - She also went over all of the tests rather well. The only problem I had was that her in class examples are not enough to get you through the test. You need to study the text book as the example questions in there are the ones on the test
Dianne Crisp is probably one of the best profs I had this semester. Her class examples are useful for trying to remember stuff from the textbook and she keeps the course material so interesting! Her tests are alright, I barely used the textbook but I suggest you do if you want to get a good mark.
Dr Crisp is very knowledgeable about psychology. She really teaches the concepts behind topics rather than expecting you to memorize them. As long as you study the chapters thoroughly and attend classes you will obtain a grave you deserve. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
You have to do two different group projects which are only worth 10% each but take DAYS to complete. The rest of your grade is 30% midterm #1, 30% midterm #2, 10% final, and 10% participation. Exams are hard and straight from the very dry textbook. Calls on people in class and will make it very obvious if she doesn't agree with you. AVOID!
I had her for aging. Be prepared to do stupid group projects, that take up so much time, yet there're only worth 10% each. Exams are pretty straight forward, just memorized her powerpoints and you will do good.
Midterm questions are stupid. Group projects are stupid either.
She gives participation marks but can't remember who you are so she just randomly puts a number without any reasoning She doesn't teach Exams aren't on class's material only in the textbook so good luck studying Makes group projects worth barely any marks but has extremely high expectations & marks ridiculouslay hard without giving any instruction
Worst teacher I've ever had in my three years at kpu. She doesn't give clear instructions, doesn't explain enough and skips over 90% of topics that show up on the exams. I have no idea where she gets the questions on the class because it's not from the class info she presents. overall Mark %'s do not match amount of work she expects
I highly recommend to avoid her at all costs. Do not take a class with her if you don't have to. She gives stupid group projects, that are so time consuming. Never have I ever worked so hard for a 10% assignment During your presentations she asks questions, so make sure you know your sources inside out. Also you will learn nothing in her class.
Dianne always made time during lecture to make sure everyone understood the concepts she was talking about. Don't be late to class! She starts with review and will call out in front of everyone. Besides that, exams are all textbook related. :)
Dianne tells you up front that she is tough on you, such as calling on you during class, but she does this to make sure you actually understand the material. She's funny, nice and always open for office hours before a midterm, would take again!
I have taken Dianne twice so far and she is honestly one of the best profs I have had. She teaches on pace with everyones learning and she won't hesitate to repeat how she got an answer and so on. She gives us a lot of practice problems and that helps a lot because she goes over step by step what we need to know. If you put effort in, you are good.
If you read and study every single page on the given readings, you will do just fine. Yes group projects are dumb and difficult and extremely time consuming. Avoid if Infancy is avaliable. Def won't be the most enjoyable class.
I hate how Dianne selected group members for you rather than letting us pick our own, and I ended up with useless members who did nothing but still got the same marks as us!!! And it is also super frustrating we need to work our ass off for the projects but they are only worth 10% each. Need to read the textbook to get good grade.
Dianne is a great prof! I definitely didn't find the content of the course to be super interesting, but it is easy to succeed in her class. Make sure you're not late to class, she hates that. She's a really nice person though, and it's not difficult to do well in her class as long as you complete the readings/take notes
LOL. This class is a joke. Tests are extremely hard, lots of people failed. Her essay questions are not even part of the assigned reading. Group projects, absolutely the worst. Several people got 4.5 and 5/10. Even if you read the text, get ready to remember every detail of some random chart. Thanks Crispy.
Don't do it. Every assignment is group, and there's one every week. Exams are extremely hard, and there is very little guidance about what to study or what the exams will be like. Assignment instructions are extremely vague and always changing. She marks unbelievably hard and when you ask for clarification of instructions, she's very vague.
As a straight A student, I thought taking Dianne's class would be a piece of cake. Man, was I wrong. No matter how hard you study, she tests you on irrelevant material from the textbook and midterms are worth 30%. The group projects are ridiculous amounts of work for 10% each and her instructions are super confusing. Avoid this course at ALL COSTS.
Dianne is nice and funny. She is so good at teaching the concepts, just make sure you read the chapters before the tests which are also easy. Def reccomend her!
Dianne Crisp is a awesome teacher in the aspect that she teaches thoroughly. However, she will make you put name tags out so she can call on you and make sure you are listening and understanding. There is weekly homework which is online called aplia. You must read textbook for tests and homework. Homework is 20% which is extremely difficult.
Dianne's class was a bit intimidating at first because she loves to call on people for answers, but this technique helped keep me more engaged with the material. She does give a lot of homework, but I found that by making sure I was doing the homework correctly, I didn't have to study for the exams. Solid prof - would take a course with her again
She calls upon people randomly which is very annoying, but it makes you pay attention. I was nervous about the class because my last math type course was in grade 11 (6 yrs ago), but in Dianne's class, I'm doing really well. Her tests are fair, on our first exam, the class average was 70%. If you can get past her calling you out she's a good prof.
Dianne is a really good prof, going into this course I thought it would be a struggle but she really does go out of her way to make sure everyone understand the material. Her tests are very fair. She answers all your questions and goes over the previous week's lecture to make sure everyone is clear on the material. Would defiantly recommend her.
She is so hard to see during office hours or app. She is test based and if you understand the textbook that doesn't always mean you will understand the tests. Ask help I tell you to know and she picks on you during class so prepare before coming.
Dianne randomly calls on students to answer questions. Every week you are required to complete online hw on Aplia which is worth 20% of your grade. A majority of your grade - 70% - is based off tests (30,30,10). This course is not easy! P.s. You will need to purchase a textbook with an Aplia code.. it is quit expensive
Dianne was a good prof and I enjoyed stats for the most part. The class was test heavy and there was homework every week (the aplia assignments) which i thought was useless. Nonetheless, if you do majority of them, you would at least end up with a decent mark. Finally, if you're stuck in her class, feel free to ask for help! She is helpful!
There were 3 tests, 3 labs, 13 weekly online assignment and one extra credit (take a self-fee from an exhibition in UBC gallery and upload to moodle). Buy the calculator that the prof told you. As long as you go to class, study the textbook and do the assignments. You will pass the course. She was willing to give a tutorial for extra help.
the class was partially online, so we only met a week before the exam and on exam day. The class was pretty basic, with 4 midterms, a mini brain lab, online quizzes, and online activities. Her exams were fairly straight forward, and as long as you do the readings, you should be good!
I personally feel as if she may be strict but a good prof which makes everything crystal clear but she had embarrassed me in front of the whole class for not having a calculator whereas, other students also hadnt. She was cold towards me but she was just probably just having a bad day . I withdrew because I felt small & irrelevant .
picked at random students. Was heavily test based. when you need help she just repeats the same thing. very random with her topics. trys to make class fun but for some kids they seemed shy and it did not feel good when she picked on you for class for math questions especially if you weren't good at math.
This is my second time with Dr. Crisp. I definitely recommend her for this class and stats! Quite knowledgeable and passionate. There are 4 exams, 3 of which are 25% and one is 10%. Just show up for the brain lab and other classes and you easily get about 7%. There are also weekly online quizzes which are pretty easy, just study the chapters!
Her tests were based on the textbook and she dropped hints in class about questions on the test. Good and engaging lectures too. 3 tests worth 25% and 1 test worth 10%. Online quizzes are also easy and come from txtbook
Dianne is an excellent prof in my opinion. Her lectures are very helpful & she always checks to make sure students understand the material. She is very clear about what will be on exams, so as long as you study the chapters & pay attention in class you will be fine. 3 exams (25% each), 1 exam (10%), brain lab, psych sims & online quizzes.
She's clearly passionate about the course material, but makes the class atmosphere extremely stressful. There were also questions on quizzes & exams that weren't in the course material, which multiple students noticed. No assignments/papers; 95% of grades came from exams & quizzes, 5% psychsim worksheets, which were basically participation marks.
I took a partially online class, the in class lectures were a waste of time. I had a friend in a different section and we never learned the same material. The only helpful part of the lectures that were the week before exams was she often said what the long answer question would be. All multiple choice questions from exams are found online.
Good understanding of material and good at explaining, but terrifying as a person. She once yelled at me in class for being on my phone when it was tucked away in my backpack. When I looked around in confusion she made fun of me for "pretending" I wasn't on my phone. Exams MC answers are online and she prepares you well for the written portion.
I took this class partially online. When we did attend class, she makes the classroom atmosphere very stressful by randomly calling on students for answers. Tests included questions that were not in the notes or textbook. The only good thing about this class was that I didn't have to see her every week. I would try to avoid if possible.
No midterms, no finals. I dont want to disclose everything here but all I can say is all the answers are found online. Minimal effort needed to pass the course. I would force you to take her. Its the easiest prof I had in 9 semesters.
Dianne is a super nice prof and her online course for Aging went very smoothly. The course consisted of two online labs, mini weekly quizzes, and one big group project. As long as the group project goes well, there is no need to worry about grades as it is fairly easy to do well on the rest of the material.
Seems nice but easily offended. Unfair marker by far. Never given a course syllabus or rubric or assignment break downs. It was all up in the air. Felt like she was pretty bias at times during the marking process. Needed this class for an elective or would have never taken it. Pro tip: *make sure* you call her Dr. maybe youll get some extra marks
Very stern but good. She knows her stuff and is a great teacher but she will put up with ZERO bull. Dont slack off, focus and pay attention and you will do well. You will learn a lot from her and shes easy to understand but you have to pay attention and do your work. 10/10 would take her again
Awful. I'm normally understanding, but she is just very rude and blunt. Treats our questions like we are idiots, and doesn't respond well to student concerns. Took her call during the pandemic and her class was online. She provided 0 lectures of any kind, no recordings. She insists this is the best way for students to learn.
Lectured day 1 about her high expectations for 'mature' students in a third year course. She simply laughs off many 'dumb' questions and refuses to answer them. Simplest/vaguest syllabus ever. Poor email replies. It's odd because she held extra online classes to check in about the paper, but gave vague answers. Weekly quizzes, 1 group paper, 2 labs
Love how the class is laid out 60 percent of it is homework! Which works well for my style of learning. Her weekly quizzes can be a little tough but overall loved this course, it surprised me as I suck at math!
Really easy class. Definitely recommend this prof it is an easy A and GPA booster. No weekly classes and just recorded lectures. Do the weekly hw and you will easily pass!
Exam was long, closed book in-person. The class was fine online, I would take it again in an online setting. She checks in a lot and I do think she cares about her students, though she can be a bit rude.
exam were open book online but very long. very short recorded lectures
I am a very hard-working student but I still find this professor's course quite challenging. She puts very high expectations on students but does not provide help. She requires students to study the whole textbook for the final exam. She is rude in emails and does not answer questions. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT take her course!
Dianne Crisp knows her stuff and you can tell she cares about her students, but you must commit to succeed. She does not come off as the friendliest person, and yes, she does call on students to answer questions. Lectures are heavy, and you need to read the textbook if you want to actually understand the material. Prepare to put in the extra work.
Prof Dianne is a good person. Her lectures can be quite tough as there is so much stuff to learn. She marks based on the quizzes and tests. So you have to make sure you study everything from the textbook as that is what the exams are based on. Overall, good prof but you have put in all your efforts in her class.
She teaches by reading from slides. If you care about learning. AVOID. Had to do my entire course by myself, dont know what I paid money for
Don't take her class. Only two exams but 4-8 quizzes per week. Lectures are just her reciting bullet points from the textbook which is a huge waste of time and money. The only reason I rated a high difficulty is because she will kill your interest in whatever topic you're studying since all you're doing is memorizing the textbook!
