She is very enthusiastic about biochemistry and WHY things are done, not just HOW. She's very helpful if you ask questions . The lab manual is unclear and her grading system is weird. Labs take SUPER long so plan ahead. It's her first year teaching this class so a lot of people don't like her, but she is responsive to feedback!

This was Vardar-Ulu's 1st time being a lecture professor for Biochemistry. Our CH273 was incredibly harder than last semester's with Allen, as Vardar-Ulu's exam were longer during a shorter time period (50mins opposed to Allen's 1.5hrs) and more difficult (exams included case studies). TF is ridiculously hard grader as well. Final was 18 PAGES LONG

NOT AN EASY COURSE. Definitely was an unfair evaluation of knowledge. The course itself was great and truly tied together concepts from not only biology and chemistry but also touched on notes of physics as well which makes the body all the more interesting. However, Vardar Ulu has definitely forgotten that this is an INTRO course. Ridiculous tests

In a few words she ruined my biochem experience, terrible. the labs could be very cool but she makes everything confusing and changes the manual a lot, most of the time last minute. Her templates make no sense. She expects a lot from us and don't teach anything. This woman does not deserves to be in BU or any teaching institutions.

This class was the most awful experience of my life. It does not matter how much of the "optional" homework assignments you do, if she doesn't like you, you will not do well. She presents the class as flexible but it isn't. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU HAVE ANY WAY OF AVOIDING IT. I think this class genuinely messed with my psyche.

To the future biochem students, she has gotten a lot better this semester. She is the only professor that responds in less than 5 minutes for messages, gives feedback for all writing assignments, extra credit, and genuinely cares for the health of her students by being very flexible. Grades similar to a grading contract. Get specific number of points in homework, exams for a certain letter grade. There are other assignments like exploration sheets, guided reading but only need to do half for the A grade. Would recommend finishing these early on in the semester.
