she overanalyzes EVERYTHING you will be more confused after the class than you were before the class

worst teacher i've ever had. she's anal about EVERYTHING. her voice will drive you crazy. oh and dont bother studying for the tests because when she tells you whats on them, she actually reviews for everything thats NOT on the damn tests.

Hard to understand her idea of teaching is writing 1001 notes on the overhead If you ask her to clarify something she'll give u an answer leaving u more confused! Looses grades if u dont keep ur papers she'll give u a failing grade

although she's not the WORST teacher, this class is bad! tests are 26 multiple choice and the rest is open essay! and she's crazy, she tld our class "please do not talk while i am talking. i am very paranoid and when you talk, i feel liek you are talking about me." don't take her!

Very very unclear and hard to understand. If you show up for class, participate, and pay attention you will at least get on her good side and pass the class. I found her review sheets very helpful for the tests though. If you can avoid taking her do it.

She is a nice woman outside of the classroom, but inside she is loud, unclear about any assignments, opinionated and confusing. Sociology 101 is supposed to be a intro class and she definitely didn't treat it like one. The movies she showed were good, but when it came to tests, barely any of the questions had ANYTHING to do with the movies. Switch!

useless information, she is not sure of herself, becomes threatened and hostile if she feels like a student is questioning her. I don't know what university gave her a Phd. she doesn't know much. always talking about her syllabus but doesn't even know what is in it. generally the most confused and confusing teacher ever. please stay away from her.

This professor is one of the worst ones I have ever had. I completely agree with everyone's comments below me. She ruined my GPA, and talked so fast no one could understand her. I struggled in her 101 class more than any other class I took that semester. She is awful, take everyone's advice and take another Soci professor.

Please read these reviews and drop this class immediately if you have her. Honestly I have no idea what's she's ever talking about. Her assignments are unclear and review is like two sentences. She tries to use big words to confuse you. All in all I dread going to this class every week. I should have listened to these reviews and dropped the class!

God forbid you have a class that starts at 6, because she will hold you past 8:30 90% of the time...She squeezes every bit of info she can into one class without ever being like "well thats enough sociology for one day" let us go dude...some of us have jobs and other classes that start early the next morning.

I would not ever repeat the mistake of taking her again. The review sheets don't go along with tests. Crams too much into a class. Hard to understand. She doesn't really help students if they need it. Isn't understanding and completely strict with deadlines. She is a very hard teacher. It seems almost impossible to pass her class.

This professor ranks pretty high when it comes to WORST EVER. She talks fast n has conversations in her own head that she believes were part of class discussion. Her test r impossible to score well as she puts topics that r not in book n never discussed. I truly believe she enjoys sabotaging students. Unfortunate for students like myself that care.

I have never done a "rate my professor" report before, but I felt inclined with this teacher. She is by far the worst teacher here at brookdale. Does not have good teaching qualities or abilities. I only made a rate my professor to warn Brookdale students about this professor. DO NOT take her class. She is condescending, unclear, rude at times, and does not know how to teach. worst class ever. GPA RUINER! She rambled in all of her lectures to the point you couldn't take notes down. There are many group projects in which if you don't have the same point of view as her, you get a 70 or lower. Terrible experience.

I took this class, and then a week before it started they changed the professor to her. She was the worst professor I have ever taken at brook dale. She had a very heavy accent, and NEVER taught what was in the book. She only talked about what the topic was, then proceeded to go off about what her opinion was. The tests were not what was learned

Terrible professor, unorganized materials, doesn't care about her students success in class at all. I had to teach myself, she offers no extra credit to bring up your grade. One of the worst professor yet I had received. You will never see a perfect score on the tests or any hw assignment. She is a nice person, but overall not fit to be professor. If you want the opposite of a GPA booster definitely take her class. I had never received an F until I took this class and professor. The class itself was worthwhile and not boring in the lecture, but she takes it way too much at heart and her grading is critical. I understood participated entirely in the class and I gave it all my all. TERRIBLE

Hardest class i have ever taken at Brookdale. Her tests were almost impossible, she would use the same question over and over but reword the answers and it was VERY frustrating and confusing. She gave a lot of online lectures, too many videos, notes that it was hard to keep up with. She is a very smart lady but her teaching skills aren't the best.

Disappointed with this professor. Took her online class & did not have a great experience! I've been on the Dean's list until her class! NO extra credit, no room for getting used to the online aspect & no extra time in completing assignments! Most professors want you to succeed and help you to, not make it more difficult. Lectures never match the tests. Lectures are a few random words that dont make sense on a couple PowerPoint slides that apparently are supposed to translate into coverage for an entire chapter. Uses a lot of repetitive and random true/falses on tests and repeats same questions on tests but reworded.

The study guides and tests DO NOT MATCH UP! her assignments are irrevelant to the class. also her powerpoints are horrible, literally copy and pasted a few sentence from the textbook no voice over. pretty much have to read the entire chapter to know what is going on. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Confused? she will not have a forward answer to your question. She barely answers her emails. She expects you to rely on the addendum regardless of how lost you are. Tests are timed unfairly with many questions that you cannot go back on. Testing goes alongwith how fast you can answer rather than how well you know the course.

Awful Professor, doesnt help students or give clear answer if you need help. I like sociology, but despise this class. I look around and see multiple students sleeping due to how boring this class is. She uses the full lecture time, talks too much, and presents poorly made power points in class. Prof. Mitra is very passionate about Sociology but I don't think she should teach online class. She gave us only 50 minutes to finish a 51 question test(s). English is my second language and by having only 50 minutes to finish the test is not enough; it's less than a minute to answer a question. It's hard to understand her point also at some point.

Shes got a good heart, but tries to make everyone look dumb whenever they answer a question she has. Shell say youre wrong and then continue with the lecture, which basically states youre correct. Also, its almost impossible to get an A in her class. Shes extremely brutal with grading and critical.

I took this class to fulfill the elective requirements for my major. What is supposed to be easy she made it hard I did all the work and showed up for every class and did all the homework and still got a C was not accessible outside of class and lectures did not make sense. If you take this class save yourself the trouble and take someone else!

I took this class online and wish I saw all these comments before hand. Anytime you have a question in regards to the materials her go to response is follow the syllabus. Any response to discussion board assignments came across as belittling. Pick a different instructor.

Horrible class. Especially with this professor. She makes the classes long and boring and doesnt use canvas correctly so its up to you to figure out whatever shes expecting. Lectures dont help youre better off reading the whole Soci book on your own.

Didnt read the reviews for this specific class and ruined my GPA... tests are confusing and not completely based on the book or lectures. No enthusiasm to teach, which makes the class more difficult!! Lectures are heavy but dont retain the information needed to pass quizzes/tests.

This professor was the worse! I had to drop her class because I didn't understand anything she was teaching. Didn't even think she understood her own teaching. Her test didn't even make any sense to me.. She would give a lot questions for just a little bit of time during test time. She was also very rude.

I wish I knew about this site before I took her class. On the first day of class, she told us that she is known as "The GPA Destroyer" because she doesn't believe in "giving away A's." Please read the reviews on this professor, dont make my mistake. Shes awful, not clear during lectures, will get annoyed if u ask questions. I had to drop her class, her tests arent clear. Shes way too lazy to teach, jumps from topic to topic without providing enough info. Said she was willing to help with grades, but dropped everyones grade.

She doesn't teach anything during her lectures, she doesn't use PowerPoint or even post it with the zoom recording on canvas for us to look back on and study. Her tests are relatively hard and not relevant from the book. She is a very tough grader, especially with our discussion assignment. She didn't even post the guidelines to the assignment.

Gave me a 0 on a paper by not meeting the d line for a couple minutes, I sent an email asking her if she would accept it and I got a simple “No. Sorry.” In return. I’m taking another class of hers and she gave half the class a 0 on a discussion post cause we missed the deadline, even though we sat in the class for 10 mins waiting.

She is not a good online professor. I've been doing online classes for three years now. I've never struggled as much as I have in her class. I'm a strong student, and I'm not doing as well as I should be. She's very disorganized and does not make assignments clear. Her modules are incredibly difficult to navigate. Quizzes are confusing. 1/10.

Poor communication - Had medical documentation as to why I missed an assignment, and asked her multiple times to make it up. She never unlocked it for me and put my final grade in as was anyway. Had to get the school involved in order to get it changed.

Professor Mitra was incredibly confusing. This class was not difficult in and of itself, but she made it AWFUL! Her requirements for discussion posts were written so terribly I could not understand for the life of me what she was asking. I messaged her multiple times to no avail. She hardly used the textbook. Professor Mitra is a disrespectful and very confusing teacher. Her modules' format, syllabus, and discussion questions were all over the place. Nothing was clear. She wrote directions so poorly that NO ONE in the class understood what she was asking for. When asked any questions, she would reply aggressively and rudely to students.

Just don't, I didn't look up rate my professor because I needed to take the class it was the only one available I would never take this class with this professor. Discussions are so vague and with little detail. The tests are easy, what I think the professor expects for an Intro to sociology class for discussions is bizarre.

she cannot use the online interface well at all. assignments are posted, but the assignments are in a seperate category. lectures are posted but no powerpoints or anything helpful for a student. it almost feels like the lectured were just recorded so she would have something to post not so that you can understand the material

This woman is a sensitive one God Forbid you speak to her as an equal despite her lectures stating that we are I simply ask her to clarify why my grades were absurdly low despite I did all the assignments to which she replied to the manner i spoke to her was inappropriate.

This was my last class to pass+graduate and now I have to retake it.... never put the assignments on the modules, always had them in a folder in the canvas that was way out of the way.... Doesn't allow retakes of anything, no matter what, did good every test/quiz but failed because of the missing assignments she didn't put on the canvas module.

just avoid this professor at all costs. make sure you check the assignments AND discussion tabs on canvas because she does not put all of the work in the same place. the work consists mostly of quizzes and exams. she doesn't allow redos and wont reopen assignments. good luck if youre stuck with her, the internet IS your friend.

If this class wasn't mandatory for my major, I would have avoided it. The quiz and exam questions are prompted confusing, and the work is all over the place in topics and location on canvas. CRAZY amount of workload with little directions, and she has an unneeded sassy attitude when replying to work and student comments. Seriously don't take.

Avoid this professor if possible. Her instructions are unclear, and she's not very helpful. The assignments and exams are tough. However, using resources like Unstuck AI, ChatGPT, and the textbook can help you get through this challenging course.

I wouldn't recommend her. Worst teacher possible. Very rude when asking for help or clarification on assignments. Exams are based on textbook and articles she puts up. But yet the question on the exam don't makes sense. It's a lot of reading and only makes you submit 4 other assignments that counts throw your grade.

If I could give a lower score, I would. If you talk to her, she just implies you are incompetent; no help. Barely any assignments and no clear structure. This isn't about teaching style or any other problem individuals may have; this is a collective problem. If you find yourself in her class, good luck... You'll need it.

This professor was very rude and a rough grader. I work full time and attend school full time, and struggled to keep up with the work load of the class. I took this class online and when I reached out for extra help, she was short with me and was not interested.

Canvas is completely disorganized. There are random quizzes on random days that have nothing to do with the whopping four modules that don't even have the reading material. Don't even bother trying to email her because it will take weeks to answer and it will be an aggressive response.Granted, I took the class online so maybe it's better in person.

If you take her, be aware that she will not let you hand in anything late, even if it's by a second! She is very inflexible when it comes to grading. You could do all the work required and STILL earn a 0 because it was a minute late; fairness isn't in her vocabulary. I hope someone important sees all this!!!

Horrible class, doesn't know how to teach, especially when showing her slides during lectures. My friend was once caught by the professor taking a picture of the slide because she was going too fast. She called her out and said, "I don't post my slides for a reason; don't take pictures." Her tests made no sense, the study guide was always vague.

The WORST professor there could be at brookdale. Her teaching style, her attitude, and overall she is so rude. I regret not looking at her rate my professor reviews, this was the biggest mistake of my LIFE. do not take this professor for ANY of her courses. sure, she knows what she is talking about, but her knowledge is not worth the strictness of the class. computers are prohibited; you are only allowed to write handwritten notes (no powerpoints). majority of the class is discussion based. lowkey passive aggressive and I don't know why she teaches.

It's impossible to find the coursework, and it's impossible to keep up with assignments because they don't show under "ASSIGNMENTS".
