He is an awesome teacher! I would recomend him to everyone.
right on!
Class is always cancelled! What could be better than that?
Best class i ever had class was only like 5 minutes every day
If you dont like to go toclass then tka ethis one. You never have class...the only time you do you only meet for about 2 minutes. Its awesome.
so easy, the best class, maybe class once a week good stuff

He is a good professor. He is laid back and easy. The class is easy, it doesnt intrest me to much but im not to much an art person. This is a good professor and class though.
i love him, he's an awesome teacher and the lectures are so short. he doesn't waste your time at all.
if you give a**** about class and have any sort of work ethic- skip this one!
His classes are very short, 20 minute lectures mostly just to review the chapters he assigns to read. He is very good at reviewing and really wants his students to pass.
you have to study, but he's a cool guy and he knows what he's talking about.
Class is not as easy as advertised here. 100 questions on midterm and final, rediculous. Only thing that saves your grade is reviews and the paper. If you get decent grades on exams, you'll do fine, just expect to spend about 6 hours doing the study guide and then another 8 to study it.
This class is very easy, I went maybe 10 times the whole semester!! Only a midterm and a final, he gives you all the questions for them so its very easy. The paper and the reviews also save you :) Lectures are only about a half hour, hes very goood about getting out early. :) good prof, good class!
I loved him as a professor! My work wasn't all that great for this class, but he looks at the good side of all the work. So long as you talk to him about what you're thinking about doing, go to class during the work times, or let him know you're not going, hand in completed work, participate in critiques, A! And he's not bad on the eyes, either!
Dietmar is a really laid back, down to earth kind of professor. He knows a ton about aesthetics. We studied most of the important theorists and then wrote a final paper about one of them (your choice). The discussions about the reading are great. Do the work and participate in the discussions and you will do great.
Pretty fun guy.
He swears like a sailor, but I'm not offended easily so it only made it more interesting. Read(at least half the book) and participate and it's all good. He is very passionate about art, aesthetic theories, and analyzing anything at all really. Good guy, don't be scared.
He is a great guy and is very passionate about his work and pretty funny when he gets to rambling. As long as you try your best to answer the questions from the book and turn it in on time he is pretty fair with grading.
He is an amazing teacher, and I would highly recommend any of his classes, but Art Crit especially since he only gave a few questions right out of the book a night and the final exam was an essay, its an easy A if you show up and do the nightly assignments. Also, there are several group projects that are very simple.
He is a great professor! Sometimes not clear exactly what he wants but keep at him and he will explain things to what he wants. Very helpful. Didn't have a textbook, he gave us the information that we needed for "textbooks"
Easy going, funny, class was fun and interesting.
Easy going. Loved his class, treats students well - actually made the subject interesting, he has a passion for it. Definitely recommended.
Great professor. Doesn't hide his passion for art and aesthetics. LOVED the class, the only one I could skip but never wanted to. I would highly recommend him to anyone, especially anyone with even jut a mild interest in art.
He was so boring. Tuesdays he lectured, after he told us he couldn't lecture because only professors with huge egos can lecture, and Thursdays we watched a movie and wrote a paper. 6 papers from the movies, plus a huge test were the midterm. 6 papers from the movies, a 3 page unexplained paper about art, and an even bigger test was for the final.
good teacher but too hard on grading.... i got perfect scores on all my papers i wrote but did bad on the 2 exams and i got a c+ in the class which i didnt think was fare at all....
He was a very laid back teacher. He taught really good and he made class a lot of fun. Oh and hes really good looking too!!
My favorite art professor at CMU. Dietmar is awesome, his classroom is a challenging environment but he allows for exploration without harsh grading. Really smart guy, wish he taught more classes.
OMG! I just had the most interesting/enlightening lecture of my life on Theodore Adorno. This guy's got it down. Marvelous, astonishing, devilishly insightful.
Worst ever! I didn't do my work and the sonofa**** goes and fails me. I mean, where the hell does he get off?
No good, this guy. He's always going on about thinking for yourself and questioning your assumptions and authority and challenging yourself, but is that really education? Where's the money in that?
Okay teacher. Really cool to talk with and stuff but his grading is really weird. If you take this class plan on putting all your effort into the drawings.
the hottest prof i've had so far! lots of fun, swearing, and smoking breaks... but i put a LOT of extra time into this class... but i hate how art profs grate artwork... it's totally subjective! good for one person isn't necessarily good for another.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! He is not a great teacher. You will learn nothing in his class. I am more stressed from his class than I am helped. He will grade you on his opinion and not on the writing itself. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I never had any clue what he expected for essays. Would show rubrics the day final drafts were do, and assignment sheets were useless. He's chill and you can skip all you want on days that nothing is due, but don't expect to actually learn anything.
Better than expected experience with English. He was always willing to help with essay feedback and most of the classes during writing period were drop in conferences where he helped you out if you needed it. Exams were in class essays with the same format as the essays leading up to them. Overall a great class.
Respects his students more than anything.
He's a really great professor! He offers several meetings in and out of class to discuss your papers, and provides a lot of help as well. He doesn't care as long as you are staying on track and periodically check in showing your progress on your papers. He's definitely one of my favorite professors
Interesting guy. Fairly lenient grader. 4 papers during the semester, 2 shorter ones, and 2 longer ones. 3 written exams from readings. Unfortunately he wasn't very clear when explaining what exactly is supposed to be written about. He more of hints at it. Still, he is there if any questions need to be asked. Definitely a good english professor.
Although he expects a lot, he gives a lot in return. The tests are straightforward, as they are all just in class essays. Take his class.
If I had to take English again I would take it with Krumrey. You have to put in the effort but it makes the result feel good. The guy has a huge vocabulary, but once you decipher what he's saying you'll do fine. Great professor!
I cannot stress how much Krumrey is there for you. You can contact him at any time and makes himself available all the time. He gives great feedback on papers. I recommend him 100%. I plan on taking 201 with him as well.
He was a teacher who was aware he was teaching a class of kids who fell all over the spectrum of writing skill. He was very helpful, was easily available outside of class, and was very approachable. I would recommend both to students who are excellent at English, as well as students who struggle. So far in college, he is my favorite professor.
Super chilled professor. Gives the assignment and lots of time to work on them. Cancels group class meetings frequently for individual conferences. Final exam was not mandatory. Awesome professor, would take a class with him again.
It is an English class so expect to have papers that are long. He doesn't really lecture much and gives a lot of time to work in class as well as deadlines for different parts of papers.
He does wonders for you when it comes to writing papers for him. He purposefully sets you up for success on all of his tests, as they are completely reflective on the information and skills you needed to utilize on the paper you turned in that day. If he sees the class struggling a little bit, he will hold a solid review session for your benefit.
I had professor Krumrey for ENG 201, he was always available for assistance by request. Very easy grader, easy to get an A if you apply yourself. Crystal clear on his feedback for papers and is always willing to help you out. Would take again.
Great professor, honestly one of my favorite since being at Central Michigan University. Would most definitely take another class through this professor.
There aren't many homework assignments and most class periods are dedicated to working on the essays that are assigned. He is extremely accessible and willing to help his students which is very refreshing. Krumrey is a genuinely good educator and I would recommend taking any English class with him.
Dietmar is what i wish all my professors were like. He pushes you to get out of your comfort zone in terms of writing. I have evolved into a much better writer from this class, and I got an A in 101! He grades a little tough, but it's only because he wants to see you try. Be prepared to work, but if you do, you will pass and learn a lot.
Great professor who tries very hard to get you an A. All papers and you do peer reviews which help you get an A. Not very hard to get an A if you just focus on what he tells you to do.
Great guy, great teacher. He is very down to Earth and is extremely approachable.
Straight forward with essay assignments. There's only 4 essays in the class and 4 in class essay exams. Meets with students to discuss essays and is extremely helpful. Really great guy definitely take the class with him!
Great professor. He makes it clear what is expected of you and meets with you outside of class to help fix any issues that arise in your essays.
Professor Krumrey is very knowledgeable in what he teaches, while I dread taking English courses, he makes sure the assignments are clear on what he expects. He grades fairly average, and always allows make up work for all of his essay assignments. If you have any questions he is always there to help.
This was one of my favorite classes this semester. Dietmar is always available to help and clearly suggests any changes you should make in your rough drafts. I would definitely take this class again.
Always available and willing to help. Pretty cool guy overall.
Dietmar was definitely the best prof I could've gotten for this class. I was terrified of taking Eng 201, but ended up with an A in the class! It's obvious that he really cares about how his students are doing, and he takes time to meet with each student outside of class. His instructions are very clear as well. I highly recommend taking his class.
Awesome teacher. He gets really involved with his students. His grading is a little difficult but if you ask him he will give you all the help you need.
A great professor. Holds conferences to improve papers and seems to really care about students. Can be a tough grader but throughly explains ways to get better at things such as writing.
Dietmar is a really nice professor, and I know he does want his students to succeed. I do believe he goes about it the wrong way. To me he really doesn't give clear advice on helping re-write/revise papers. Expect to re-write at least one of your four papers. It seemed to me that he didn't expect to give out good grades on the first try. Be careful
Prompts are ver unclear leading to low class average scores. Allows you to edit essays for better grade, but the essays are back to back leaving no time to do so.
I do not know why people have said he is a tough grader because I do not think that at all. He is very understanding and wants his students to succeed. He is a great professor. I would definitely recommend him
Dietmar is awesome. The class isn't really hard at all and he's super laid back about everything.
For an online class, Dietmar was awesome! The essays were clear and his feedback was really helpful. The books were a little dry but that was fine. The exams were difficult, 50 short answer questions in 60 minutes is a little crazy but do-able if you dont go back and check them. Overall, pretty easy class and would take him again.
He is a super nice person overall. He was clear about assignments and always willing to help clarify. He also has meetings (at Kaya coffee house!) to go over papers before final drafts are due. He's definitely one of my favorite professors at CMU.
You have a lot of in class work days which was nice. But when it came tonmeetijg him to talk about your rough drafts, you met At Kaya and not his office which was weird to me. He was very tough at grading. You don't have a final but it's extra credit. When giving feedback he came be a bit vague. He does offer rewrites for all your papers.
He was a cool guy, interesting to say the least. General english class with articles you had to read before hand to pass exams and the only has four essay projects during the semester. They're pretty easy and he is great to work with and is lenient with grading and turning it in late. Would recommend him if you struggle in english.
Professor Krumery was a great professor. He tried hard to keep his students involved and made sure that everyone felt like they mattered in his class. He understood that people were only taking English 201 for credit, so he tried to make sure that his grading was not too rigorous.
He is a good teacher but is definitely a hard grader. It is also difficult to get a sense for his grading style. I have never gotten a C on a paper before this class. He does not take attendance so that can be nice, gives a lot of work days. He shows a good understanding that students take this class to fulfill a requirement. still a tough class.
He is a great professor, cares about his students, and makes the class interesting. I would highly recommend this professor.
Dietmar is incredibly intelligent and I feel as if this causes him to be a little scatter brained during class. class isnt really necessary unless you need help. The content is EXTREMELY hard and you really have to work hard to even understand the assignment in full. Great professor but not for ENG201
It's funny that someone would say "going to class isn't necessary," but that it's also "extremely hard." Dietmar's class IS challenging, but in the best way. It's like an apprenticeship in learning to think critically and write clearly. If you don't have the energy to work hard, I definitely recommend taking someone other than Dietmar for 201.
If you do the assignments, the class will be easy. The prewriting assignments kept me from procrastinating so the papers were pretty easy to get done. Has conferences for every paper so you can talk to him personally to get feedback which was helpful. Awesome professor!
Super great guy! Krumrey really cares about how his students are doing in class. Provides lots of feedback. He is very upfront about how the class is going to be. In class writings, 3 papers, small readings. Extra credit final and given a week at the end of the course for revising our essays. Has conferences with his students at a nearby coffee sho
4 papers, 2500-3200 words each. Written exams 500+ words each. Easy A. He sets you up to be able to write the longer papers. He meets with you before each paper is due to help you better the paper. Kind of demanding class but easy if you take one day a week and grind everything out. Cool guy, relates to students. Would take again!
Professor Krumrey is actually a very good professor and structures the class so that you can get your papers done, and all the prewrite's essentially lead up to the final drafts. The paper topics are interesting too, so you can actually write about something with depth. Papers are lengthy and quick, but in the end it'll pay off.
It nice cause he doesn't take attendance but he drags everything out and he honestly just waste ur time as much as he can . im the type of person to get as and bs in eng and he kept giving me c and ds . i genuinely never knew what he wanted from me even though i did all my work and everything he wanted in the essay. DONT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
Easy A. 10/10 recommend him for ENG 201
Krumrey is an overall good english teacher. I didn't find his class too challenging but you do have to work for a good grade. He gives very detailed emails about assignments which is helpful and is a personable guy. The final is also an extra credit written exam/
Listen, there is nothing negative to say about this man. He's ALWAYS willing to work with you if you talk to him. I submitted work late due to personal issues and STILL gave me full credit. He's a caring individual who really wants you to pass the class. I highly recommend taking him for 201 or any English class. HE'S THE MAN!!
This is the best professor Ive had at CMU. He does prewrite assignments so you cant procrastinate, but they end up coming together to form your final papers so theyre easy to write. Super caring guy, doesnt grade hard and is clear about what he wants. Most of class is work time for essays and the final is extra credit! Would highly recommend!!
Honestly? Hes a nice guy. He seems to care about his students. But his essays... dont get me started. Theyre all of the basics, rhetorical analysis, argumentative and a research paper, but all of them are twisted into something unusual and difficult. Hes not good at giving advice or helping with his critiques, and not the best explainer. Beware
I loved Dietmar! This class was by far the easiest I have taken. He gave good feedback on all the papers and gives you the chance to revise your paper after his comments if needed but does not require them. You have almost weekly discussion posts that aren't hard just sometimes a little time consuming because of the need to reply to 5 others.
I'm so glad I took this class in an online format. It was pretty much smooth sailing. There's discussion board posts about once a week, and 3 essays. He gives you 3 chances to fix your essays before the final draft is due. I always received great feedback, and I finished up the class feeling very confident in my writing abilities. Highly recommend.
He was very understanding, I got sick and fell behind and he was beyond lenient. He was sick all semester so he wasn't always able to communicate on time, understandably. You work more on discussion boards than papers, but all assignments are fairly easy. Try your best not to write things the day they're due, take advantage of the relaxed schedule.
Doesn't really seem like he should be an english prof. Only 3 essays but he doesn't give you very much feedback. Overall very easy to pass and do well. Just a lack of instruction.
This was a super easy class. As long as you turn everything in on time and follow the grading criteria, it is an easy pass.
