Mrs. Castillo...god what can i say...she is an easy teacher. Make sure you take the notes and read the paragraphs. At first she is a little scary dont ****her off! and the best about her is she DOESN'T care if you come to class! But you should go! A COOL PROF THOUGH!

Great class!I got a lot of this class.She is down to earth, test are long, but she prepares you for it. Even though she may be easy on the workload--take her seriously on test--don't put off studying notes. I highly recommend her if you hate govt. She makes it interesting and gives ex. credit.

While it was an easy class, this lady was totally unbearable to me. Never prepared, lazy, never really taught anything. If you are interested in really learning the subject or really like getting your moneys worth out of a class i would avoid her.

Great teacher. at first she acts like a hard ass. but she's really sweet and cares about her students. Easy A. she gives very good reviews and tells you exactly what to look for.
She was a very kind teacher and was always willing to help if you needed it. She gives you reviews before the test and drops your lowest test grade!
I don't believe in her politics, but her class wasn't too bad. She spoke her closed mind opinions a lot and it just went in one ear and out the other, but I ended up getting a 98 in her class, so i'm not complaining.

Wanted to shoot myself everyday I had to go to class. Her test questions couldn't be more vague. NEVER got any tests back to see how I did, and the grades weren't posted on the internet. went off topic a lot. Had favorites. Literally, everyday she dictated the most boring notes born to man, and you wrote like 7 pages a day. Not my idea of learning
Uggg this lady is soo freakin dumb. Yea you'll get an A, but you probably wont learn anything! I never got any grades back. She just read notes and we copied them every single day of class. It was horribleand boring. When asked questions regarding the text, she would change the subject, or beat around the bush bc she didn't know the answer.

I took her for a many. I took her for both 2301 and 2302. She is a great teacher. If you want to have fun while learning goverment then I recommend you take Mrs. Castillo.

The review is the test. Simple. Study the review, word for word. Likes to ask stupid stupid questions like in the 1890s. that's it. Doesn't give you papers back. No idea of standing in class really. Doesn't answer questions you have. But EASY A.
She makes this class unbearable. It is an easy A, if you study your reviews and do the extra credit. But she tries to pass her opinion off as fact and several statements she made were false. She showed us Farenheit 9/11 because she was too lazy to teach. She always comes to class 10 minutes late and her teaching consists of reading notes to you.
Miss Castillo is a very laid-back professor. She is super easy. Take her. You will have no regrets. Though, there is one thing you might not like and it's the way she teaches. She just reads the notes and you have to copy word for word. But Don't worry, you will get an A. Even a caveman can get an A with Miss Castillo!!
I took Castillo's 8- week class in the Spring of 07. She was a very easy laid back teacher. We had to write an essay and there were 4 multiple choice test(which she gave you the reviews for...identical to the test. Lots of notes but take them. Awesome teacher I made an A.
very easy teacher, but you have to copy ALOT of notes because she will just read them off her notes. a laptop would be good for her class if you have one..5 test over all and she gives alot of extra credit! other than that she is pretty layed back
Though the class was an easy "A", it was almost unbreaable. Castillo was the most deadbeat teacher I have ever experienced. She did nothing but read notes word for word in her flat, monotone voice, and was too lazy to actually grade anything. The semester is over and I still never received any grades..I am pretty sure she just made them up.

Hardest class I have ever taken. Makes you write a ton, and it its not unitl the end of class you realize there was no point in writing it because you get all the info from the online notes or the book. I scored at least 10 points better than the class average on every test and still only made a C test grade.
signed up for ben fraser and at the last minute there was a change - had her for a summer mini. boring - reads notes WORD FOR WORD! LOTS of extra credit. watched lots of movies. tells you what's on the test - anyone who didn't get an A+ in my session was either a moron or never did anything. i liked her overall!
I'm not sure if that's the section. I took her for dual credit. she was sick when i had her, so she didn't attend for almost a month. but overall she was good. she gives you the review and you study, you get an A. but she is rather boring. kinda mean. i hardly talked to her.
All you do in her class is take a lot of notes. She rarely teaches or lectures the class. Gives you the questions to the test before the test but not the answers. Test are very long and ofter you don't get a chance to finish it. Research paper is mandatory. A lot of extra credit opportunities. DON'T TAKE IF YOU REALLY WANT TO LEARN!
Ms.Castillo was very understanding. Gave extra, gave questions that were going to be on the test, took notes the whole period or watched a movie. The notes weren't on the test though... just do the extra credit, study the answers u find to the test questions she gives you ahead of time, and u can pass with a high grade.
Great teacher... Class pertains of lots of notes and watching movies. Test are exactly what is on the review. Hardest test is the take-home... good luck. If you have personal problems Mrs. Castillo will listen and work with you. I took her 8-week GOVT 2301 and 2302 and recommend Mrs. Castillo to everyone...
Unbearable sitting in class listening to her opinions. Listening to her read the notes word-for-word was easy but annoying. Haven't learned anything yet and doubt I will. Today she was complaining about being reported for being a bad teacher...and I completely agree. Don't take her if you want to learn or don't want to waste your money.
Not sure on the section. I had her while i was still in HS. Bottom line: shes easy and if you do anything at all you will pass and most likely get an A. I made no more than a 75 on every test and finished with an A. She is a rather unique individual in personality,and one must be ready to deal with that. She has to be the easiest. Id take her again
she sits and reads you the notes words for words and thats about it. The review is the test ( they're very long and not that easy). You have to memorize the whole review ( about 6, 7 pages ) to do the test.A LOT OF EXTRA CREDIT.I got a A+++ but I didnt learn much in this class . She's easy but i wouldnt take her again.

As useless as it was, it was too easy. If you don't get an A, plain and simple: you're stupid. Pointless notes in class, but the reviews are given ahead of time and BB and the book are where to look for answers. For those who cannot retain info, the tests will be hard, but overall this class is an easy A and you will learn pretty much nothing. :)
She was easy because her reviews were exactly like her test. TIP:Split reviews with smart friends and study well for the test and no one can stop you from making an A. Those who made B's didn't really take advantage of the reviews and notes posted on BB.
This has been my worst teacher ever! She shows no interest in teaching so she doesnt teach, she just reads notes. Her reviews are hard and about 6 pgs long. We have to look for the answers, which the least she can do is put them in order according to chapter, but she doesnt. I HIGHLY recommend u dont take her class. Its a waste of $$ and time.

She sits & reads the notes to you & you have to copy them word for word. (Your hand will hurt.) She doesnt get the test scores out to you in a timely manner, Still waiting for test scores from 2,3, and 4. plus the research paper. Her Reviews are super long and will take you 2 days just to find the answers. If you want to learn dont take her.

Awesome teacher! Took her as an 8 week class and she was one of the most helpful teachers I have had. Reads notes to class for lectures, take all notes and group work is very important when getting the reviews done because they are so long. However, they are exactly like the tests. Also one research paper. Take her she's great!!!

A very easy way to get Government credit out of the way. I am terrible at history and dates, but this was by far the least amount I've worked in any class. She likes to play games with the students by moving assignments around and changing the easiness of the test. I had a few scares in that class, but in the end earned what I wanted.
Easy A!! Everything on her review was exact on the test. Gives a lot of extra credit and sometimes even let you use the reviews during the test. What more can you ask for!!!!

DON'T take her if you're interested in learning about the subject at hand. If you want an easy A, then take her. She is unorganized a majority of the time and going to class is almost pointless. Good teacher i dont think she's lazy. I love the way she manages her class you do reviews before a test for two reasons one you study and memorize the content for the test and two you get extra credit by doing it. So she's only helping you

Arrives late, gripes about everything for about 10 minutes, then makes you take useless notes. takes wks to get grades(even scantron tests) can't disagree about anything or she will attack you! She is late for class Often, doesn't seem to care much abt anyone's needs. Not very helpful or willing to listen to anyone's comments or opinions. You will spend mnost of the semester writing down her Useless Notes. Required to write a paper, approx 12 quizzes, 4 tests and 2 document analysis. No powerpoints or interesting lectures at all. Boring.
Pretty easy class. The notes you take during class are pretty much useless. You get all of your information from blackboard. She gives you a review before exams which are pretty much the exact same thing you will be seeing on the exam. She's pretty lenient when it comes to turning in late homework and stuff.
EXTREMELY UNORGANIZED! will tell you the due dates and change them with out telling you and tell you that you are wrong. she read her notes verbatim and she expects you to take notes but nothing from her notes are EVER applicable. it was very easy but horrible do not take. you have to study for tests, there is a research paper, and busy work. :/

The review she gives to you is like the exam, she drops your 2 lowest Quiz grades, her lectures are irrelevant to the tests, so taking notes is pointless. Took her for govt 1 & got a D. She wants you to do everything on your own time. Quizzes come from the chapters you have to read on your own. She teaches you absolutely nothing in class & she reads things word for word & expects you to write everything but the notes are irrelevant to the class. If I had time for hw then this class would be easy.

This is probably one of the worst professors I've ever had. She doesn't reply to emails hardly ever, if she does their so late it doesn't matter anymore. VERY unorganized. I took her online so it was even worse because I didn't see her in class. She assigns a lot of work she never gives grades for until final grades are due. LAZY AND UNORGANIZED!

easy easy easy A teacher. give review which is actually exam question. have quiz that have 2nd chance. document analysis look hard but have multiple time . 100 on all document analysis, so don worry about DA. it is easy A class but expect to learn nothing.
The class is very easy to pass as long as you do the work. The class is very boring. She reads of a paper. The notes in class are useless. All you need to do is the review when is given. The test is pretty much the review. She is always late to class and takes forever to reply to email or just does not reply at all.

Took online 8wk class. DO NOT BUY HER FLASHCARD BOOK. Opens all exams late & opened ours so late that only had to do 5 exams & no comp final. 17 Q's & 17 Learn Smart- neither are timed. Gives you 6hrs for exams, so no need to do review. Document Analysis is 5 questions, 2 are MC & 3 are 6 sentence "essays". Do not take her on-campus class. Easy A.

DO NOT buy her flashcard book. Does not return emails, if you need to talk to her go to her office hours (but she'll more than likely give you a blank answer --"It's on the syllabus"). You have 12 quizzes, 4 test, 4 chapter assignments, and you have a 6 page paper. Test are hard(not really like quizzes) . You can't forget due dates!
She's not a bad teacher, yes the tests questions come off the reviews, but found a 293 question review a little excessive for a 20 question test. The amount of time given to take the tests are really long, so no worries there.
She was sporadic in answering emails- I would not recommend her for a teacher but if you are like me and need the class and have no other choice- I suggest you do the work and do all of the reviews and assignments- do not expect correspondence.
Online TX GOVT; this “professor” was horrible! Rarely answered emails, or replied with one or two words. Her announcements had misspelled words and did not use complete sentences. She would constantly change the schedule. DO NOT buy her Note Card Book! I wrote a 6 page essay and never knew the grade I got for it. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!
If your planning to take this class. I recommend you to take in a 3 week mini. Her class is boring reads straight from her notes and all her homework, quiz, learn smarts and test are online. Don't buy flash cards or book!!!
Some words of advice, you don't need the flash cards!!!!! They are like $50 and you are never required to use them. I asked her after the fact, right before I was able to return them, because hey, I could use an extra $50 and she said we need them. NOPE! Not once... Save your money.

She is nice, understanding, helpful. One of the best professors I ever had. Tests are easy and gives you a lot of time to finish it ( approximately 4 hours , 50 questions each test ). Her ONLY problem is she makes you buy her flashcards plus the textbook, so she can make money out of you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
DON'T take online! Never emails, waits until end to grade all work that is not auto graded . The sem ended and I still don't know what I made on the research paper or my final grade. Gave work over Thanksgiving break! No help at all! This class was a joke and I am a future History major! Why does professors like this get to keep their job! Only $$$
Professor Castillo is nice . Easy class if you go to class she will help you. If you will miss tell her before and she will help you. I got A. Easy A. I recommend professor Castillo. Do the assignments, Exams and quizzes you will be fine.
Professor Castillio gives clear instructions. She gives easy questions on the review that are on the exams ( no surprises). Exams are online except the final which is multiple choice. Expect to be in class. In order to fail this class, you have to go out of your way to fail. She lectures from notes, the book is needed for the reviews and homework
BRING YOUR LAPTOP;For taking notes! The flashcard book is NOT NEEDED AT ALL! Make sure you have a planner to remind you of all the assignments. If you have question ask during class, you will not get an email response. This class is easy, but you kinda have to learn it all on your own. Make friends, it helps a lot when it comes to test time.

Dissapointed. Dina Castillo was absent for the month of Feb, typically late for class by 15 minutes, not accurate with her information. Lectures are read from a piece of paper. Was not on par with the sylabus. I was sick of attending a class that the teacher was not interested in putting effort and made a B. Take someone else if possible.
She's so lazy. I don't know how or why she's a college professor because she won't assist you if you need it. If you do take her, don't waste your time by asking her questions. Figure it out yourself.
Pretty easy class, but you do have to work for it. Very easy assignments, you can use the review on all of the tests, 1 essay (she's a very easy grader). Just do all the work and you can receive an A. I highly recommend her! But if you have questions it's better to ask in person because she takes a long time to respond to emails.
Easy class, majority of the work is very simple. Lectures are pointless as all she does is read from an excerpt in the book, hard to stay awake, but there's an attendance policy so you can't skip often (though you could easily still make an A regardless). **Attendance mandatory only due to the attendance policy**

I took this class Spring 2016. She gives lecture by reading a paper of notes that we have to write down. Four exams that are online (quizlet), final is in person but she gives you a review. Online assignments every week, a learnsmart and a quiz (quizlet). Four vocab assignments are due throughout the semester. Gives a lot of extra credit. EZ class
If you are a visual learner, do not even consider this professor. The entire semester she will just read from a sheet of paper as "notes". Not even a powerpoint. There are no in class exams or work besides for the final, and this is because that is mandatory. Lazy, rude, boring, unenthusiastic. I learned very little from her.

Only seems to be enthusiastic about having a captive audience. The lectures are read from a sheet of paper while she sits down and repeats it over and over like she expects you to write it down verbatim. Also can't help but stick her collectivist politics in your face. Assignments are clumsily put together over minor, unimportant details in history
Okay I really liked Prof. Castillo, I took her for both 2305 in class and 2306 online. They are such easy A's! Her lectures are super boring! BUT bring your laptop and do your homework. I didn't care for her lectures, thats why I chose to taker her online. The only thing I liked more about the classroom was the extra credit opportunities.
I took this class online. You HAVE to buy the access code in order to take tests and weekly quizzes. She makes you take them through Mcgraw's website instead of going through blackboard. You have to send "check in" emails EVERY Monday which was NEVER mentioned. I found it by chance reading throughly through the syllabus. Very lazy online proff.

I took professor Castillo for online GOVT 2305 and did not like her class' format and attitude. Weekly check-in is required every Monday which is a joke. Your week's attendance will not be counted if you're one day late checking in. I was late one day and forgot to check in once and received an 80 for attendance. Again, a joke. I do not recommend.
She's Really easy to pass. I got an A. Most of her reviews are basically the test. I got an A in that class and I took it as a Three Week Mini.
Professor Castillo is a great professor she is straight to the point with the lessons and is clear on what is required for quizzes and exams. Reading for this course is a must but as long as you read your material you will have no problem passing.
Nice and funny professor, but is also very particular on how things are done. She said the textbook was required, but I just took good notes during lecture and studied those.
She was not organized. She did not teach efficiently. She would read off of packets and expect us to take notes while she read the notes that we didnt have access to. It was not helpful. She is great with pushing back deadlines but she expects a lot from us when she doesnt even provide the minimum.
Her online class was really easy. All quizzes and tests can be found on quizlet to study. Don't bother emailing her, she'll either take a week to respond or won't respond at all. Which is really unfortunate because sometimes online exams can stop loading. She requires that you email her every Monday for attendance grade. I always forgot to.

Prof Castillo gives lectures off of her printed papers in front of her, so make sure to take a laptop or record her. She is straight forward, funny, and understanding. Use the book, and her lectures to do her reviews! Her reviews are exactly what you will see on the test. The work and dedication you put in will reflect on your grade!

I took her for a 3-week mini and it was great. She did assign ALOT of work but thats expected with a mini. I would recommend getting a textbook because the answers for her reviews come straight from the book and her tests come straight from the reviews. She does give easy extra credit opportunities. PROFESSOR CASTILLO IS GREAT! I've taken her twice now for both my government credits because she has allowed me to get great grades in the class. She is fun and understanding, offers extra credit, and her tests are all so easy because of her reviews. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND her if you need to take a government class. Definitely benefit you!

Ms. Castillo was not the best organized teacher for an online class that I've ever had. She did not always announce when exams would be opened. The common assignment was based on a weird hypothetical that didn't make much sense. There are ch quizes and 5 exams including the final. Attendance by email every monday. Short and delayed email responses.
Easy online course. She answers every email quickly. She provides extra credit. No way to fail.
In the online class, you need to email her every Monday for attendance. She does not respond to any emails when you have a question. Her course is simple, quizzes every week, tests every two-three, essay, and discussion boards. You REALLY need the textbook and read or you wont pass the class. She makes you work for it.
She doesnt teach, she only reads from her notes and you write them down. She doesnt reply to emails and is rude.
Prof Castillo is an OK teacher. In class its just her reading her notes we copy them. Most of her weekly quizzes/test are on quizlet. There are about 4ish writing assingments. She gives out a review before any test. Basically a self teach class, if you want to learn Gov find another prof. I honestly didn't read the book but it could come in handy.
The entire lecture is her reading off a paper, so bring a laptop for notes because she goes fast. All the quizzes and exams are on quizlet. We did a 6 page book report and 4 page essay which were easy. She also let us use the review on the final and cancelled/dismissed class a lot. If you want to learn GOVT, find another teacher. Easy A, though.

Class was very easy. Lectures arent great, its her reading her notes straight from the textbook. The course required a book, I only used it once the whole semester (dont buy the book). Come to class, copy what she says down in the lectures, and this class is a breeze.

Requires a weekly email every Monday for attendance, never missed one email, still got marked absent a couple times. No point in trying to email her, more than likely will not get an email back. Other than that, material is pretty standard. Should be able to make an A. Not a good prof for concerned students.

Absolutely awful. Her "lectures" are reading off a piece of paper like she's teaching second grade: monotone and slow, the ENTIRE class. Her lectures are also way behind the quizzes, so they are completely irrelevant. Unhelpful and rude, and clearly does not care about what she is teaching. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Straight forward Professor. Highly recommend more as online course (Lectures read straight from a paper/can be very monotonous). Quizzes: online/able to keep trying & make 100(on all of them). Exams based on reviews (she will go over). Read chapters online, do work/reviews, and study. Fair grade for fair work. Procrastinate, you get a C, like me.
Took her online summer class. Easy A as long as you do the work. Most difficult assignment was writing a paper, but it's really not even difficult. You will not get an A if you don't email her every Monday for attendance. Just stay on top of your work. She gives plenty of time to do everything.
This class is very easy to pass, the professor just sucks. Her lectures are just her reading a powerpoint and asking the class to fill in the blanks; I took it online so we just googled her questions and found quizlets. Quizzes are through Inquizitive on BB and easy 100s. Exams are also all on quizlet. Don't expect responses to your emails, though
Quizzes and tests are all online so no problem there, but very unresponsive to emails and lectures are her reading off sentences and students have to fill in the blanks, and are always behind when the quizzes are due, so no help. Easy A, just dont expect much.
Gives clear instructions on what is expected in the class. Work is over all easy if you read and tue hardest assignment is the paper at the end. Doesn't really reply to emails though so don't expect responses.
Just a heads up take your morning coffee before coming to her lecture she is a snooze. To be honest, just read the textbook, go to her lectures, and you'll pass. She's only tough if you're late. She isn't engaging only good thing was we got to see her puppy.

Everything is straightforward. Read the chapter, take a test, repeat, the whole semester. It was like she barely existed except for a weekly reminder of what we should be working on, and a requirement that we email every week for "attendance." No effort to engage with the class or supplement the text book. The ultimate "jump through hoops" class.
inhumanely boring class once a week asking us questions we don't know for 3 hours, there's even a pause after each question for a minute or two so you can tell everyones googling , doesn't teach anything just expects you to read the book and get all of your info from it
She does not interact, just posts a reminder on what things are due and their due dates. I did not mind because everything was pretty much self explanatory. Email for attendance, every Monday. All quizzes on quizlet, discussion boards, 5 page essay due at the end. It is an easy A if you do your work, no slacking. She closes things on time.
Ms. Castillo's Class is very precise on the fact that she is straight forward towards what we needs to be done. She directly informs when assignments are open and when they are due. Also considering the fact that we must send an email every Monday throughout her class for attendance purposes. Her class is easy if you understand how she functions it
This Professor is very unprofessional. She does not seem to care at all about the subject she teaches. Do NOT take her class unless you want to sit through a lecture of someone slowly reading for an hour. She shows up late almost every single day and has not acknowledged it once. The class is basically self-taught and NOT worth the money.
overall mundane class, she's late almost every day by 10-15 minutes. she reads off a piece of paper as we take notes. just read the textbook and you're good to go when it comes to the exams. not receptive to emails, at all, she wont respond 9/10 times which makes communication outside of the classroom difficult and frustrating.
Professor Castillo will read from her lecture notes and you are expected to take notes. This way if you do not show up for class you will miss necessary material. You need to pay attention to pass this class. The textbook is provided online, but she does not use it. For exams study the textbook, and the lecture notes.
She is a strong professor in knowing what she teaches. The class is very heavy on reading and note taking in class as the lecture is 1 to 1 with the notes she has taken down. If you are strong in note taking and comprehending off a textbook then this is your class, if not then it will seem very difficult.
A month and a half into the TX GOV online course that she teaches. The textbook she uses seems fairly bias to one side of the political isle and bashes it fairly often. If you want to take a class to learn about the government from a non bias perspective, don't take this class. If you don't care about bias and just want credits, take this class.
This professor is very monotnous when lecturing and her notes aren't helpful if you're wanting to study for exams. She treats the class like a high school class (punishing the entire class because of one person). The punctuality is nonexistent as she is ten to fifteen minutes late every class. Also gets off topic often. I don't reccomend.
She is extremely biased on course material. She hardly teaches and reads straight from the textbook. She yells at the whole class if one person does anything wrong. If you are looking to learn and have a good class environment do not take her class! However, her class is very easy. She gives out the answers to her tests and all tests are online.
This teacher only used the textbook and a few worksheets that she placed on Blackboard that had little to no help. Her test were extremely long but most of the questions were on the study guide. The text book is biased so beware of having your own opinion lol.
Professor Dina Castillo has a straightforward teaching style. The class is reading and note-heavy, but quizzes and exams are manageable if you engage with the material. unstuck ai was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook.
Personally the best, she is silly and caring. you will need to take notes over what she is reading and there are inquizitives but her class is easy to pass.She gives reviews two days in advanced before test, the tests are online so they should be easy to pass,aslong as you do the review it is the exact answer for the test.good luck!
I enjoyed the material but the teacher does not respond to emails. It comes across as uncaring and unprofessional. She also did not return my phone calls.
She quite literally just reads the textbook word for word and you're demanded to write down everything she says and if you're not taking notes you're looked down upon.
I hated this class, but it was easy. She does not use power points or anything, just sits there reading from her notes so its easy to get behind. She lets her own right wing leaning politics interfere with her lecture, too much time talking about trans people and once claimed "Bill Clinton was the first black president" which really threw me off.
Taking her online for TX GOV and I have to drop it. Her online classes are not set up to be online anytime as everything has an individual due date. She also requires you to email her on Mondays by 8 PM to be counted as present. Very informal emails and does not care about individual students' success. Also her writing instructions are very vague.
