You may not need to buy the book for her class if you keep up with the lectures. Very hard to get lower than a B in this class. Don't take makeup exams, they're hard! Very personable teacher, is willing to work with her students - enjoyable classes!

Test are kinda hard but stright forward from text or lecture... A LOT of extra credit

She gives lots of extra credit, tests are sort of hard but she tells you what the essays are. Well organized class with cool videos. Very nice and helpful.

She writes all the required information for the tests on the board, so you barely need to read the book. She is clear in her expectations, and her homework assignments (1 per chapter) are actually fun to do.

The class is is not demanding. If you are able to relate the material to your life, then you will really enjoy the class. Take good lecture notes. She is very organized. She is really easy to talk to during her office hours.

Her tets are directly from the lecture. I have had her twice and never bought the book. Tests are not hard if you go to class and take notes. Sh welcomes open discussion and is laid-back. Much more interesting to go to class then read the text.

Go to class and this will be a breeze. Her lectures are enjoyable and she is very clear on what she expects. Awsome and enjoyable class. I highly recommend her!!!

Miyoshi is a great teacher! She makes her material for the tests very clear and the tests are relatively easy if you study. Take good notes ...they help! lecture notes can be used for test and then a little reading. very interesting class

she is one of the best teachers i have ever had. she is totally willing to give up her free time to help you, so just ask. everything in the lectures is on the test, and most of the tests are conceptual. i highly reccomend her if you had struggles in previous math courses.

My favorite teacher at Mesa yet. Treats everyone fairly and as adults (which is surprising hard to find). You will have to work in this class,just showing up wont get you an A, but you couldn't pick a better teacher for this class (Behavioral Stat and lifespan dev.).

Best math teacher ever! She is very helpful, she even gives you her cell # so you can call her anytime you need help. Homework is short and not too hard because the answers are in the back of the book. Quizzes are hard. Test are kinda hard but she lets you use a whole page for a cheat sheet. All her notes are on powerpoint and are very clear.

She is the best math teacher I've ever encountered! Don't get me wrong, this class is HARD...but she will give you every opportunity to learn the material. I have never been a great math student- and I'm managing to get a good grade. Take this professor. You definitely won't be sorry.

The subject is sooooo hard but Miyoshi is probably the most helpful, nicest prof at Mesa. She does everything to help you succeed! She has review sessions separate from class if u want 2 go; she gives you her cell #, SHE IS INCREDIBLE!!!! She is teacher of the year/decade. If you have to take STATs 2 transfer- take MIYOSHI

I loved this class! You do have to work hard though; I've taken a few classes with her now and never got anything over a B. Her notes are on powerpoint which is nice and she does give extra credit, tests can be a bit tricky. But the project was very easy..overall I enjoyed this class :)

dont get the text, didnt use it once, and i took honors. easy class for honors credit, she's easygoing and lets you design honors assignments. go to class b/c ALL info is from lecture. follows syllabus very closely. 5 exams mult.chioce w/ 2essays each-she tells you what they are on, no suprises. random extra credit chances in class. take miyoshi =)

I love this teacher! I have taken her for three psyc classes. She is very smart and has a great sense of humor. Class is fun and always interesting with discussion and sometimes videos. Know the study guides and take notes, easy grade. I will take her again in the fall.

She is such a good teacher! All you have to do is show up to class, and take good notes, and pay attention to the film bits and storys used as examples and an A or B is in your future! Her tests are exactally from the notes, there is never any trick questions. as for help, just ask and she has all the anwseres you need! I STRONGLY Recommend her

One easy project, and offers in class extra credit. Really, if you attend lecture and study your notes, it should be an easy class.

Excellent professor! Extremely organized and cares about her students. The class was very interesting! It is not the type of class you can ignore all weekend, though. It's hard! Stay on top of it and get all of the extra credit points you can! You can call her on her cell phone if you have questions! She is wonderful! Highly recommend!! I got an A!

Great prof. She has clear powerpoint presentations backed up with great notes on board. I had to drop her class just before the deadline even though I had a good grade, and when I took it with another prof they were so horrible I ended up just using all my old notes from her. Know study guides, tests are right off of them.

Professor Miyoshi is the best! She is helpful, fun and a passionate person who loves to help students. Exams, and quizzes are all covered in reviews. By not taking Miyoshi class, you are definitely missing out!

Miyoshi is one of those teachers who is EXCITED to teach about her class. She has passion during her lectures and that is what a teacher should have. She is by far the BEST teacher at Mesa and you MUST take her class. She is always at her office if you are in a need of hand if you are struggling or just don't understand. Wonderful personality!!

Mrs. Miyoshi is definately one of the best teachers I've had. I took psychology in highschool and hated it. After taking Miyoshi's class i had a new found interest in psychology. She does powerpoint presentations for lectures and makes it VERY clear. She happily answers questions and WANTS you to understand it. STUDY GUIDES HELP!

Mrs. Miyoshi, is quite simply, the bomb. Her classes are fun, with powerpoints and videos. As long as you take notes and study them, it is SUCH! an easy class! Homework is interesting &simple, and tests are 50 question multiple choice. She gives great review sheets before each test: if you study them, you'll nail the test. I can't wait to take 258!

I was scared out of my mind to take this class but she made it so comprehensible to EVERYONE. Line was out the door to get enrolled to enroll early!!! Nice lady best teacher at Mesa and thats not said lightly!!!!! you can use a full 8x11 sheet of notes on tests!

Mrs. Miyoshi is quite possibly the best teacher at Mesa! She is helpful and smart and funny and just generally nice. 230 is a pretty easy, interesting class with lots of discussion, not just her lecturing. If you study her outlines, the 4 exams are cake. I'm in 258 with her too and she is just as good for stats! Highly reccomend her for ANY class!

Amazing professor. Teaching style and testing style make it very interesting yet easy for students. If you follow her outlines that she hands out and take notes in class, you don't need the book. Speaks clearly, is helpful, knows her stuff, and is passionate. Absolutely recommend this professor.

You don't need the book, but if you don't get it, you must take really good class notes as Power Points are mainly bullet points for what she discusses. There is a class project,it wasn't hard. Dr. Miyoshi is one of the best profs!

Dina Mioshi made psych stats possible for me. Professor Mioshi is the best and most supportive person I have ever met. She made what seemed so impossible, totally possible. If any student takes the time to go to her office hours she will totally teach one on one if needed. You have to put in the effort but if you do she will teach you amazingly.

Talk about one of the best teachers ever. She is extremely helpful. Statistics is hard, but she breaks it down that any person can understand her. Spent hours helping me out during class, office hours &even through the phone. She's extremely patience and absolutley so nice! :)

She'll help you no matter what! She's amazing, & understands that most people aren't math experts, so she teaches for them. She'll go over anything you need until you understand it. She even set aside time for everyone to come to a special class time, just so we'd understand anything we didn't before finals. Offers lots of Extra Credit! :)

Professor Miyoshi is an incredible professor. It is clear that she really cares about her students success. If you need help she is more than willing. I didn't use the book at all. We had hw online and a quiz every other week...4 tests. U must go to class! She offers ec in class only and it adds up. Not a hard class at all.

I hate math and anything related to it; however, I was able to get through this class without jumping off of something, because Dr. Miyoshi is amazing. She is extremely dedicated to her students' success and understands the class is hard and not for everyone. She goes to every effort to help you comprehend the material and pass.

She's a fantastic teacher, she extends her office hours, gives plenty of opportunities for students to ask any questions if they need help clairifying something. I hate math, but she tries to make it as least painful as possible whiel still getting you to learn:)

Dina's stat class was tedious, but she makes all the difference in the world. She's clearer than clear on explanation, tons of extra credit you'd be a idiot not to take adv of. And shes not boring. Snag this class up!

Took her developmental Psych class and she is an awesome teacher, lots of extra credit opportunities. Gives you a chance to voice your opinion and communicate with classmates. Cares about what her students think and is interested in what we have to say. Asks a lot of questions that get you thinking. Amazing teacher!!!!!

Was not enthused about taking a morning class, but it worked out. The class is not just facts but critical thinking of the underlying concepts-(on tests too)so it is effective but be prepared to write. lots of extra credit for in-class writing. Good teacher but a lot of estrogen in the classroom for my taste the class is female dominant

THE best teacher I have ever had. She made this class so interesting and crystal clear. Lots of material to cover but attend her lectures everyday and you usually get extra credit for the in-class assignments. I wish all teachers at Mesa were like her!! Very helpful to all her students.

Easily the best teacher I've had at this college. Shes really clear in her lectures and the tests are fairly easy if you just copy all of the notes from the powerpoint. She's also really organized and you only get like 4 homework assignments all year, and no papers!

GREAT TEACHER! One of the best Math teachers I've taken at Mesa college. She is extremely helpful and willing to work with you to help you do your best. There is one pg of notes allowed for every exam and let's you know what will be on exams. Highly recommend taking Prof. Miyoshi =)

I just took this teacher for Psych 258: Behavorial Statistics. She is a very sweet, helpful teacher who understands not everyone is interested in Statistics. The material is not super easy but she explains it in a very helpful way. So much extra credit its not even funny. Take her! She is a very good teacher.

Excellent Professor. Presents the material in a way that is really easy to understand. Realizes we don't all want to be statisticians, but helps make the material relatable. Good sense of humor, very helpful (above and beyond). Class is very passable, keep up with the extra credit and study PPT's and you'll be fine. Enjoyed this class a lot.

She is an uber nice woman, and will give her students every opperutnity to succeed, whether extra credit during class time, extra credit on quizzes, putting her lecture online to print out & follow along with, homework answers online for review, review packets. The cheat sheet she lets you have at the test a bit much, didn't feel like I earned it.

She's very clear with what you need to do in the class and she sticks to the syllabus so she's consistent. Having said that, being consistent can also be a bit boring. I wish she had broke away from the powerpoint more and had a bit of fun with the material...classes were very predicatable. Try some video clips, fun group activities, etc

I took a hybrid class, but you only had to go to class for the 3 tests and if you wanted extra credit (the class before the test). 7 Hw, gives study guide for tests and posts all notes online for psy259 & psy258. Is extremely helpful, she has office hours & responds quickly to emails. For the students that are good with stats it is mainly online

Best behavioral sc. stats teacher. I got an A without buying or reading the book. Lectures are about power points. Up to 50 pts extra credit for which you basically just need to attend. Easier than normal stats class because you don't do longwinded manual calculations--only what cocerns psych. You can use a page of notes front & back during tests.

Best stats teacher. Hybrid class. You can do it all online or all on campus or both. You have to buy a $40-80 computer program which is not very user friendly. She makes the class super easy though. Homework is how you really learn to use the program through power point slides. Class meetings for clarification and extra credit opportunities.

AMAZING teacher! I took her a few semesters ago for Statistics. She was knowledgeable, helpful, on schedule and patient. She makes herself available to her students, even giving out her cell phone number to the class, telling the students they can call/text her anytime with questions, even late at night. HIGHLY recommend!!!

MIYOSHI IS AWESOME! I was so afraid to take this class cos many ppl say it's extremely hard. But honestly, if you take psy 258 w Miyoshi, you will deff at least get a B. She gives extra credit frequently and all the review worksheets and practice problems are so helpful. Exams are like the review worksheets. I LOVE THIS PROF!

She is a really good teacher. She gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit and there isn't a lot of problem work required. I would recommend taking her for the psych259 the lab portion required for Psychology majors looking to transfer because they courses flow together since she teaches them both.

I'm horrible at math. I decided to take Stats 258 hopefully there was less math. And thank god i did! This lady knows her stuff. I remember I texted her the day before the exam and she responded with like a paragraph and I clearly saw what i was doing wrong. She wants everyone to pass. I have an A. And I'm the worst at math.

Miyoshi is a hero! I needed a stats class to fill my GE and my major. I hated Math in general & Math 119(Stats) and I dropped that class b/c of a horrible professor. She understands that everyone's not fond of math. And she is very helpful. And no matter how stuck or behind you are, she has great patience and will get you on track. 65% is a C!

Hands down, the best teacher I've had since college. She is super helpful and clear. I had to take this class as a GE requirement and I'm horrible at math, but Professor Miyoshi made math bearable for me, which is saying a lot. I even got an A in the class because she gives you extra credit that helps you understand the material. She's awesome.

If you need a math credit and you're scared of math, this is the professor and course to take. Miyoshi wants everyone to pass and understands student perspectives. Lots of theories and material. She is funny and has a sweet, sarcastic sense of humor. No HW, just tests and an interview project. Very warm, friendly and understanding of personal situations. Flexible office hours. A great teacher.

SPSS is a rather difficult program, but she made it easy. Classes are optional except test days but if you need help, you can come to class and do the HW and she is flexible with her office hours. She is very helpful and has a couple computers she lets students use for HW. She is the nicest, most understanding teacher ever. A very great teacher.

I have taken her for Developmental psyc and now for the stats lab. Honest, go to class. read the material AND her lecture slides, you'll do great. She's a mentor and a great prof. She does not like to see her student struggle and will pull you out of the bunch if she feels she needs to and you need help with ANYTHING. PSYC, SCHOOL OVERALL AND LIFE. She's a sweet person and very intelligent.

Great respectable professor with a clear grading criteria. 4 Lab Assignments, 2 out of 3 SPSS assignments graded extra assignment for extra credit. Very helpful, willing to help, and clears up any questions. Lectures are very easy to read and comprehend, provides 2 tests with study guides and office hours.

Miyoshi is a great teacher, I was nervous about statistics but she made it so easy. She explains everything in detail and gives great review material for the exams. She also allows you to use 1 page of notes in exams which makes a big difference. She gives extra credit just for showing up. This class is more of a concept class than a math class

If you have the option of taking either math 119 or psyc 258, only take psyc 258 and with Miyoshi!!! her quizes are hard and multiple choice questions on exams make you think, but she allows 1 page of notes for exams,and she grades quizes quickly, so you can study it for exams (similar/same questions given).

I enjoyed her class a lot. I never found myself dreading her class (i have social anxiety). She is really easy to reach out when you are having trouble. She taught the course in a way that was easy for me to understand (and i suck at math). I loved that she is organized and sticks to the syllabus. I strongly recommend! She's a gem.

Shrs really funny sometimes, she does everything she can so that you can succeed, extra credit is available and is quick to contact to! So if you're having a tough night doing the homework, shed help you out! textbook doesnt really matter, her lectures/slides are key!! she gives a page of notes for exams! love her!!

So the semester has ended and what can I say she is an amazing professor!! I had to retake stats 118 2x and dropped both times! I was given the option to take psychology 258 and I did. I wish I had taken her class two years ago and stopped waiting my time in another class. she is great at emailing you back, office hours, and gives extra credit!

Hard not to pass this class with the number of resources and help that she offers.

Dr. Miyoshi is a pro! I've taken tons of classes at various colleges and she has been one of the best. She is quick to grade, kind, available, and wants you to succeed. If you don't come out of her class without an A than you just weren't trying!

LOVE THE PROFESSOR! she is well organized & good at explaining your concerns! youre available to reach her at ANY time to help out but she doesnt anything for you to succeed sooo extra credit is given out. cheat sheet used in exams & lecture slides on BB,.. HIGHLY recommend her class!

Hands down the best professor I've ever had, she extremely caring and nice. I was failing the class and I spoke to her and she was so helpful. My boyfriend and I went to tutoring every other day and she was so helpful and made everything more understanding. If it wasn't for her I probably wouldn't have passed.

Miyoshi is such a kind and caring professor. I dreaded taking this course because it was math related but she made the concepts so easy to understand. She knows how to explain concepts in an easy and digestible way. Lab was the same and carried over with her lecture so take both with her. Free pie on 3.14. Take her if you don't like math. Fun/Easy

If you can, take her! I was nervous about statistics, math in general and she made it absolutely easy. She is very helpful and cares about you being able to pass her class. she gives you plenty of time to do the homework and gives extra credit and also lets you use a page of notes during tests. her class is relaxed and she's extremely nice!

Professor Miyoshi goes out of her way to help her students, she truly cares and wants to see her students succeed. One homework assignment per week, gives extra credit, you can use a page of notes on the exams, but not on quizzes. Textbook is helpful sometimes but her lectures are really informative. Super nice and easy to talk to, 100% recommend.

Great psychology statistics instructor who is awesome for her teaching style. Gives extra credit and gives you the option to attend office hours. Works well with DSPS students with any learning curve

Amazing professor. She has mastered online learning: one weekly optional lecture, one weekly optional office hour, and private zoom sessions any time targeted to individual students' needs. Quick to respond to emails and great feedback with thorough explanations on ALL assignments.

Professor Miyoshi was the best! I had her in a hybrid class and was afraid of taking an in-person statistics class, but she was very understanding! She explains the topics very well, and makes concepts easy to digest! If you're thinking of taking her classes, don't hesitate!

I absolutely adored Prof Miyoshi. You will never see her repeat an outfit and she is incredibly caring. I have never enjoyed math or been good at it, but she found a way for me to find it almost fun to complete the homework. She explains concepts incredibly well and will go over anything you need her to. Take her!!

She is such a lovely professor! I love every moment of her class lectures; she makes the math easy to understand, and had everything we needed for labs/assignments in Powerpoints in Canvas. She is easy to reach out to, and really cares for the students!

This professor is amazing! I would definitely take Professor Miyoshi again. It's honestly harder to fail this class then get an A. She gives so many opportunities to revive yourself. Tests are basically on her lectures, in class worksheets, and homework she gives us. Easy A.

When you see Professor Miyoshi has an open class, enroll immediately. You won't regret it. She is the only professor I am writing a review on to inform others how great of a professor she is. Homeworks are Tests are easy AS LONG AS YOU DO THE WORK. I am horrible at math, but this class made me feel really smart hehe. Got an A in both classes hehe

Professor Miyoshi is an absolutely wonderful professor. I can't recommend her enough. She is kind, respectful, & gives amazing feedback. I highly recommend her class, especially if you're nervous about your capabilities within math/statistics, she makes everything easy to understand, incredibly concise, and if your lost, she will help you.

Let me start by saying this was the 3rd time I took this class. I'm not statistics/math savvy and struggled with other professors but Prof Miyoshi was amazing at explaining it, was available to help outside class hours, and offered test corrections. If you struggle with math TAKE HER CLASS! I ended this semester with an A

I was so nervous for stats but she really wants you to do well. Her lectures were informative, she is so caring and an amazing Professor. While the material was difficult for me personally to understand she is happy to explain and go over things as many times as you need. Participation, hw and exam corrections matter. 10/10 recommend!

Prof Miyoshi is an absolute gem! She explains stats concepts clearly and makes the course manageable, even for math-phobes. unstuck AI was a great complement to her lectures. Definitely recommend this class if you want a supportive, engaging learning experience.

I went into this class really worried about stats but she makes it easy!! Professor Miyoshi is an amazing professor who really wants her students to succeed. She provides extra credit points and as for her tests, you can make corrections to make-up for points lost. If you're worried about taking a stats class, definitely take Professor Miyoshi!!

Dr. Miyoshi is amazing! She explains concepts super clearly and slowly and goes through lots of examples. There are quizzes but you can talk to anyone in the class for help on them. Allows an 8.5 by 11 in sheet of paper on exams, so a few practice problems is all you need to study, if your write your notes on the sheet.
